0:00:04 > 0:00:06Noah, Hansa, Safia, Josh

0:00:06 > 0:00:10and Kazia are now on the last leg of their working tour of the UK.

0:00:13 > 0:00:16Today, they're travelling over 200 miles to

0:00:16 > 0:00:19Bristol in the south-west to work with some of their most

0:00:19 > 0:00:22favourite things - clothes.

0:00:23 > 0:00:26For our final visit, I am bringing our group here

0:00:26 > 0:00:28to a clothing recycling factory.

0:00:28 > 0:00:30Now, there is serious money to be made

0:00:30 > 0:00:32from the things that we throw away.

0:00:32 > 0:00:36£23 billion last year, to be exact.

0:00:36 > 0:00:41And in the UK, we don't wear a third of the clothes that we buy,

0:00:41 > 0:00:44meaning that they often end up in places like this.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47Over the next two days, our five are definitely going to

0:00:47 > 0:00:49have their work cut out.

0:00:49 > 0:00:53Will chatterboxes Hansa and Kazia finally put a sock in it?

0:00:53 > 0:00:56- "Ooh, it's a bra!" - "I'm so immature!"

0:00:56 > 0:00:58"I'm a boy!"

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Or will Noah have the last laugh?

0:01:00 > 0:01:02Holy moly!

0:01:02 > 0:01:05And which of our five will stand out from the rest

0:01:05 > 0:01:07to bag a job in our very last factory?

0:01:07 > 0:01:10It's up to you to now tell them who you would hire.

0:01:10 > 0:01:12I would hire...

0:01:18 > 0:01:21The Bristol Textiles Recycling Centre is one of the biggest

0:01:21 > 0:01:24companies of its kind in the south-west of England.

0:01:24 > 0:01:2940 staff work on the factory floor. And they are all Polish.

0:01:29 > 0:01:30Between them,

0:01:30 > 0:01:35they process over 20 tonnes of our second-hand clothes every week.

0:01:35 > 0:01:40So if you've taken an old jumper or pair of jeans to the charity shop

0:01:40 > 0:01:41recently, you never know,

0:01:41 > 0:01:45there's a chance it might end up on this conveyor belt!

0:01:45 > 0:01:49But what do our fashion-savvy five make of recycled clothes?

0:01:49 > 0:01:52Time to meet bosses Tina and Natalia.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55- Hello, I'm Tina.- Tina, nice to meet you.- This is Natalia.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57How do you do, Natalia?

0:01:57 > 0:02:01Does anybody know anything about recycling or recycling clothing?

0:02:01 > 0:02:04Isn't recycling when you get rubbish and turn it into something new?

0:02:04 > 0:02:08The clothing that we buy is all clean clothing from charity shops

0:02:08 > 0:02:12and it's brought to the factory

0:02:12 > 0:02:16and sorted and sent to lots of different countries,

0:02:16 > 0:02:21mainly Africa, Pakistan and Eastern Europe.

0:02:21 > 0:02:24What's it like, the idea of wearing second-hand clothes?

0:02:24 > 0:02:25I don't think so.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28For our pampered, fashion-obsessed girls,

0:02:28 > 0:02:32looking good in the latest gear is everything.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33This is my favourite T-shirt.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36I love it cos it's colourful and happy

0:02:36 > 0:02:40and it goes into all the way...like a galaxy into a beach - I love it.

0:02:40 > 0:02:44They spend thousands on new clobber every year.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48And when trends change, yesterday's clothes are cast out.

0:02:48 > 0:02:53Kazia loves clothes and always wants to be wearing everything that's

0:02:53 > 0:02:56on trend, and sometimes she will buy them and won't even wear them.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00Oh, my God, I've still got the tag in this.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04But do they know where this throwaway fashion ends up?

0:03:04 > 0:03:06The whole world wants to buy

0:03:06 > 0:03:08second-hand clothing from this country

0:03:08 > 0:03:12because our fashion is really sought-after.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15I wouldn't wear second-hand stuff, I just wouldn't.

0:03:15 > 0:03:19So do you think we will be able to change your mind today?

0:03:19 > 0:03:20I hope so.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21I think we will.

0:03:21 > 0:03:25'As this is our fifth factory, I'm hoping you are right, Tina.'

0:03:31 > 0:03:35Hundreds of bags of our clothes arrive every day

0:03:35 > 0:03:38at the factory by the truckload.

0:03:38 > 0:03:42The factory buys 90% of its clothes from charity shops.

0:03:42 > 0:03:45The remaining 10% are received in donations.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49Each bag is opened by hand and the clothes arranged on a conveyor belt,

0:03:49 > 0:03:53before getting sorted into different types.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55The pickers throw the clothes into long chutes that go

0:03:55 > 0:03:59to the level below, where they are emptied and weighed.

0:03:59 > 0:04:03They are then packed and bound for shipping, ready to be sold abroad.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07Tina wants to start the kids off at the heart of the production line.

0:04:07 > 0:04:12When all the bags are brought back from the charity shops and wherever

0:04:12 > 0:04:17we have got donation stations, it's all brought into a big pile here.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20I want to climb it.

0:04:20 > 0:04:25Everything is very physical, very hard work and long hours.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28- So physically demanding sort of manual labour?- Yes.

0:04:28 > 0:04:33- Which...isn't music to these five's ears.- No.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37'Especially not Hansa and Kazia's.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41'They've had a terrible track record in the previous four factories.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43'For these two bezzie mates,

0:04:43 > 0:04:46'taking work seriously has been a massive problem.'

0:04:46 > 0:04:50- Yo!- Yo!- Check out my cool hat!- Yo!

0:04:50 > 0:04:51'They've ignored their bosses...'

0:04:51 > 0:04:54- MAN:- Guys, cut out the sniggering and get the make-up off.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Don't be rude. You're wasting my time.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Quick as possible, please. I'm really unhappy.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02'..and given grief to Noah when he was supervisor.'

0:05:02 > 0:05:04- Noah?- What?

0:05:04 > 0:05:05It's gone wrong.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08Noah, I've done it wrong.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10Yeah. One at a time, ladies.

0:05:10 > 0:05:12Noah...

0:05:12 > 0:05:14LAUGHTER

0:05:14 > 0:05:19'So can I talk some sense into them at our final factory?'

0:05:19 > 0:05:21I know you're capable and bright

0:05:21 > 0:05:23and when you put your mind to it, you can do it.

0:05:23 > 0:05:24It's just the talking

0:05:24 > 0:05:29and the lack of interest halfway through a task that let's you down.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32We just talk about anything and everything, so it's hard to...

0:05:32 > 0:05:37when you go in, to forget about being friends and not to talk.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39Do you girls feel as if you have a point to prove here?

0:05:39 > 0:05:42Yeah. I think it's cos it's our last factory,

0:05:42 > 0:05:45- we want to go out in a good step, yeah.- Exactly.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48And...go out with a bang.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50We're all agreed - fifth, final factory,

0:05:50 > 0:05:52you're going to go out there and smash it.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55- Yeah.- Yeah. - That's what I like to hear.

0:05:55 > 0:05:59'I really hope our girls stick to their word out on the factory floor.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02'This is their very last chance to turn it around.'

0:06:04 > 0:06:07First up, our kids will be working at one of the busiest

0:06:07 > 0:06:10sections of the factory - the conveyor belt.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13I'm going to assign you each to two bins,

0:06:13 > 0:06:17and each of those bins is a different piece of clothing,

0:06:17 > 0:06:21so you have to pick the clothing up and throw it in the bin.

0:06:21 > 0:06:24It's a repetitive job that will require their full attention

0:06:24 > 0:06:26for a whole hour!

0:06:26 > 0:06:30And Tina's got something special in store for Noah.

0:06:30 > 0:06:32- CHATTER - Um, could.... Right, OK!

0:06:32 > 0:06:34I genuinely got... Oh...

0:06:34 > 0:06:36You are going to do ladies' underwear...

0:06:36 > 0:06:38- LAUGHTER - ..and bras.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41- Bras - that's your two bins. - I love that.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44So I have to touch second-hand ladies' underwear and bras?

0:06:44 > 0:06:47'Aw, poor Noah.

0:06:47 > 0:06:48'That's really PANTS!'

0:06:50 > 0:06:54OK. Three, two, one, off you go.

0:06:55 > 0:06:58It sounds easy, but scooping up each piece of clothing,

0:06:58 > 0:07:01working out what it actually is,

0:07:01 > 0:07:04and getting it into the right bin can be a real challenge.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07Is that a swimming costume?

0:07:07 > 0:07:11And when it comes to other people's underwear, sometimes you don't

0:07:11 > 0:07:13want to know WHAT it is.

0:07:13 > 0:07:15Noah, there's some.

0:07:16 > 0:07:17A-Agh!

0:07:19 > 0:07:22That must give you some serious wedgies.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24'It's called a thong, Noah.'

0:07:24 > 0:07:26OK, that is not nice.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28I have to, like, touch them all

0:07:28 > 0:07:32and, like, I'm going to have to wash my hands after this.

0:07:32 > 0:07:34It actually seems like loads and loads of lacy underwear

0:07:34 > 0:07:36and everything coming his way.

0:07:36 > 0:07:38I think it's funny.

0:07:40 > 0:07:44Hansa and Kazia together usually means lots of chatter and no work.

0:07:44 > 0:07:47But this time the girls seem to be sticking to their word

0:07:47 > 0:07:49and knuckling down.

0:07:49 > 0:07:52We want to do well because I've never been promoted

0:07:52 > 0:07:56and, kind of, it's the last task so you want it to be a good one.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59The girls have impressed boss Tina so much, she's giving them

0:07:59 > 0:08:01even more to do.

0:08:01 > 0:08:03Right, then, I'm going

0:08:03 > 0:08:06to increase the bins that you're going to be doing, OK?

0:08:06 > 0:08:07OK.

0:08:07 > 0:08:11So, this is your bin here, which is men's ties.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13OK.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15So men's ties, you're doing your two there.

0:08:15 > 0:08:19- No sleeves...- Long sleeves. - Long sleeves, jogging bottoms.

0:08:19 > 0:08:21Adult T-shirts.

0:08:21 > 0:08:22You're doing socks.

0:08:22 > 0:08:24- Socks.- Soft toys behind you,

0:08:24 > 0:08:27and you've polo with hoods.

0:08:27 > 0:08:31But a few paces away, Noah seems to be making a meal of things.

0:08:31 > 0:08:34Is that really a bra?!

0:08:34 > 0:08:38- SILLY ACCENT: - "Hello, how are we today?

0:08:38 > 0:08:40"We are good!"

0:08:40 > 0:08:43Wow! Oh, you put it on like a jacket.

0:08:43 > 0:08:47Boss Tina doesn't mind workers trying on the clothes,

0:08:47 > 0:08:50so long as it doesn't interfere with their work.

0:08:50 > 0:08:53I have it. Ta-dah!

0:08:53 > 0:08:55HE LAUGHS

0:08:55 > 0:08:57- Noah?- Yeah?

0:08:57 > 0:08:59You're being really stupid, you know that?

0:08:59 > 0:09:01I'm being stupid? You're allowed to wear the things.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05I don't put on these Y-fronts and go, "Look, Noah, I'm a man!

0:09:05 > 0:09:07"We can share pants now."

0:09:07 > 0:09:10- Everyone here is...- "A bra!"

0:09:10 > 0:09:14"Oh, it's a bra. I'm very mature. I'm a boy!"

0:09:14 > 0:09:15Interestingly,

0:09:15 > 0:09:19the girls don't seem impressed with Noah's behaviour, which is crazy

0:09:19 > 0:09:24because, ordinarily, we've got Hansa and Kazia nonstop talking. So maybe

0:09:24 > 0:09:29they've finally realised that this is the last chance to prove themselves.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31Here, Noah, here's an even bigger bra for you to wear.

0:09:31 > 0:09:33Holy moly!

0:09:33 > 0:09:37Unimpressed by Noah's antics, boss Tina calls an end to the task.

0:09:37 > 0:09:38OK.

0:09:38 > 0:09:43It's the end of the shift now and I'm going to have a word with

0:09:43 > 0:09:46all my co-workers, just to see how you've done.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48So that's it now finished.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50Ah, here they are.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53'Will Noah's showmanship finally work in the girls' favour?'

0:09:53 > 0:09:56How did you find that task?

0:09:56 > 0:09:58- All right.- I liked it.- Good!

0:09:58 > 0:10:00And when the idea was mentioned that you would be dealing with

0:10:00 > 0:10:03second-hand clobber, you were really worried.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05- You didn't think you had it in you. - Yeah.

0:10:05 > 0:10:09I think we all thought it would be proper skanky and smell

0:10:09 > 0:10:12and it would have stains on it... but it really wasn't.

0:10:12 > 0:10:14And you convinced them that you would be able to turn them around.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16True, yeah, and I did.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18How do you think Hansa and Kazia have done?

0:10:18 > 0:10:20Yeah, they were doing very well.

0:10:20 > 0:10:22They were listening to what I was saying.

0:10:22 > 0:10:25They were picking up rubbish, they were asking questions,

0:10:25 > 0:10:27they were focused.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29They were very quick, so I was very pleased.

0:10:29 > 0:10:30Thank you. Thank you.

0:10:30 > 0:10:31How did Noah get on?

0:10:31 > 0:10:33He was quite focused at the beginning,

0:10:33 > 0:10:37then he had a little bit of a loss of concentration.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40I don't mind people dressing up in the factory as long as it

0:10:40 > 0:10:43doesn't interfere with their work.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45And, girls, what did you make of Noah today?

0:10:45 > 0:10:48- We could hear his voice the whole time...- Cackling.

0:10:48 > 0:10:50..and it was bit annoying.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52Wow, what a turnaround.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56- So you're saying that Noah playing up was disrupting you two.- Yeah.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58Normally it's the other way round,

0:10:58 > 0:11:00us being silly and him being perfect.

0:11:00 > 0:11:04You don't have to wait any longer because Tina is going to fill you in.

0:11:04 > 0:11:08So, the girls are promoted and the boys are demoted.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10- Yes!- Yes!- STACEY: Wow!

0:11:10 > 0:11:13That's my first promotion!

0:11:13 > 0:11:15Kazia's first ever promotion

0:11:15 > 0:11:18and the first girls' group promotion.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20WHOOPING

0:11:20 > 0:11:22We always knew we could do it.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25I thought, final factory, you need a different attitude

0:11:25 > 0:11:27towards the work.

0:11:27 > 0:11:31You need to come here and smash their socks off.

0:11:31 > 0:11:34'So what do our demoted boys make of that?'

0:11:34 > 0:11:38We're kind of gutted but I can see why.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41I can see why we got demoted.

0:11:41 > 0:11:44Yeah, definitely. You know...

0:11:44 > 0:11:48It was more fun than it was actual working, which is sort of like...

0:11:48 > 0:11:50That isn't really the greatest mix.

0:11:50 > 0:11:54You want working to be the number one priority and then fun.

0:11:54 > 0:11:57So it's the end of the first day in our final factory

0:11:57 > 0:11:59and what a day it was.

0:11:59 > 0:12:03We've got a girl-boy split now, which wasn't on the cards.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06The people I assumed would do well didn't, and vice versa.

0:12:06 > 0:12:08However, the boys have vowed to come back fighting tomorrow,

0:12:08 > 0:12:11so it's all up for grabs.

0:12:11 > 0:12:16Fortunate Safia, Hansa and Kazia only ever buy brand-new clothes,

0:12:16 > 0:12:19but over half of Brits today buy second-hand gear,

0:12:19 > 0:12:23so I've arranged for our girls to visit supervisor Natalia,

0:12:23 > 0:12:25who lives around the corner from the factory.

0:12:25 > 0:12:28- Come on in.- Thank you.- Thank you.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Just like our girls, Natalia loves clothes,

0:12:30 > 0:12:34only her wardrobe is a bit different to our three's.

0:12:34 > 0:12:36That's all my clothes.

0:12:36 > 0:12:39Three-quarters of it is actually recycled or from charity shop

0:12:39 > 0:12:41- or our workplace.- Really?

0:12:41 > 0:12:44Why would you like having recycled clothes?

0:12:44 > 0:12:49I think it's just using the clothing which is perfectly fine to use

0:12:49 > 0:12:51and it's not been thrown away.

0:12:51 > 0:12:54So how much does Kazia's clothes habit set her back?

0:12:54 > 0:13:00In a month, I would spend about £200 to £300 on clothes...maybe.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02Wow.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04I love shopping!

0:13:04 > 0:13:08I don't spend much money on any clothing any more.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11Like, yeah, I might be spending...

0:13:11 > 0:13:17about £2, £3 a week just for clothes which I actually need.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20What do you do with your monthly income?

0:13:20 > 0:13:23Do you save it or go out and spend it?

0:13:23 > 0:13:27I obviously pay rent and obviously have got bills to pay, as well,

0:13:27 > 0:13:31and obviously support my family when needed,

0:13:31 > 0:13:33so, yeah, I'm sending it monthly.

0:13:33 > 0:13:37It's weird, because we've never had to think of stuff like that

0:13:37 > 0:13:40and normally it's the parents supplying the money for us,

0:13:40 > 0:13:43rather than us supplying the money for our parents.

0:13:43 > 0:13:48I can't believe she spends like, only £2, £3, £4 on clothes.

0:13:48 > 0:13:52That's actually crazy because, you know, £2, £3, like...

0:13:52 > 0:13:55In my shops, normally you couldn't buy anything,

0:13:55 > 0:13:58maybe a hairclip. Seriously.

0:13:58 > 0:14:02To help the boys find their focus, across town I'm taking them

0:14:02 > 0:14:06to meet a family who came to Bristol from Poland to work.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08- Hello.- Hi.- Come on in.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11It's not only the adults coming here for work whose

0:14:11 > 0:14:13lives are turned upside down.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16It's a big change for their kids, too.

0:14:16 > 0:14:20Kasha and her son Mikowai arrived in the UK eight years ago.

0:14:20 > 0:14:23- What age were you when you came? - Five.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25Five? So imagine that, lads.

0:14:25 > 0:14:29As a five-year-old, you're taken to another country,

0:14:29 > 0:14:35a foreign country. You don't have a word of English in your vocabulary.

0:14:35 > 0:14:36Nothing, yeah.

0:14:36 > 0:14:39Was it hard for you to learn it all so quickly?

0:14:39 > 0:14:42It was, yeah, because I didn't understand what anyone was

0:14:42 > 0:14:46saying in lessons, or anything, and if they told me what to do,

0:14:46 > 0:14:49I'd just look at them blankly and not know what to do.

0:14:49 > 0:14:53I would have felt really, like, lost, you know, like, sort of

0:14:53 > 0:14:55isolated from everyone else, you know.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58Yeah, it kind of was like that.

0:14:58 > 0:14:59Mum, you look a bit emotional?

0:14:59 > 0:15:02Yeah, I feel, yeah. I remember the first day...

0:15:06 > 0:15:11..when I was sitting there

0:15:11 > 0:15:16and waiting for him and he was so, so, unhappy at that time...

0:15:18 > 0:15:21..because he couldn't understand some words.

0:15:22 > 0:15:26Well done, you. Boys, imagine doing that?

0:15:26 > 0:15:29I can't even learn languages now.

0:15:29 > 0:15:32It's hard, I can't do Spanish or anything,

0:15:32 > 0:15:35and to learn it from five years old, I think that's amazing.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38Where do you feel more comfortable, like, in England or in Poland?

0:15:38 > 0:15:42Thanks a tough question, actually.

0:15:42 > 0:15:47It's split between the two, cos I've lived here for so long,

0:15:47 > 0:15:54I guess this is more where I belong, but Poland is where I was born

0:15:54 > 0:15:58and it's my culture and it's... That's where my whole family is.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00I think we got it easy.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03Compared to theirs, our lives are simple,

0:16:03 > 0:16:08and they've gone through so much more than we've had to.

0:16:08 > 0:16:15Mikowai, he's had difficulties speaking English and making friends

0:16:15 > 0:16:20and, you know, I think that must be really hard as a five-year-old.

0:16:20 > 0:16:24Now they've all heard, first hand, the sorts of sacrifices people make

0:16:24 > 0:16:27to come and forge a life here, will they take work

0:16:27 > 0:16:29more seriously tomorrow?

0:16:35 > 0:16:38So, it's the morning of day two, and I'm really looking forward

0:16:38 > 0:16:39to seeing how our five get on.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42They've all promised to dig deep and deliver.

0:16:42 > 0:16:45It's their final day of the experience, so, let's wait and see.

0:16:47 > 0:16:51Yesterday, Hansa and Kazia took everybody by surprise

0:16:51 > 0:16:54by giving it some real welly.

0:16:54 > 0:16:58But will they be able to prove themselves in this final ever task?

0:16:58 > 0:17:01With a 6am start, everyone's a bit bleary-eyed.

0:17:01 > 0:17:06First up, Tina briefs the promoted girls and has some big news.

0:17:06 > 0:17:11- What am I doing, then? - You're the supervisor.- Wow.

0:17:11 > 0:17:15So, you have to be in charge of all your colleagues.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17That's a huge turnaround for Kazia.

0:17:17 > 0:17:20- You have to be quite forward...- OK.

0:17:20 > 0:17:23..and not worry about what people think of you.

0:17:23 > 0:17:27Are you, like, all right with that? The thought of being a supervisor?

0:17:27 > 0:17:30Yeah, it's a bit weird,

0:17:30 > 0:17:34because normally it's like you or Noah, like, the good people.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41And the feather in Kazia's cap...

0:17:41 > 0:17:44You have to supervise the boys, as well.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46You have to be on their backs quite a lot.

0:17:46 > 0:17:50Bag opening is a job where you have to keep them going,

0:17:50 > 0:17:52tell them what they're doing.

0:17:52 > 0:17:53This could be interesting.

0:17:53 > 0:17:57Kazia made Noah's life difficult when he was supervisor.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00Will the tables be turned this time around?

0:18:00 > 0:18:02On the other side of the factory,

0:18:02 > 0:18:05the boys are getting stuck into their task.

0:18:05 > 0:18:07They've got to rip open the bags of clothes

0:18:07 > 0:18:13and stock the conveyor belt quickly enough to feed the sorters upstairs.

0:18:13 > 0:18:16The clothes must be spread out evenly with no gaps...

0:18:16 > 0:18:17Oh, that's a clump again.

0:18:17 > 0:18:22..and any curtains, bedding, soft toys and shoes removed.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25These get put into another container.

0:18:25 > 0:18:29- I picked it up.- Where are the curtains going?

0:18:29 > 0:18:32It sounds simple, but left to their own devices,

0:18:32 > 0:18:35the boys are soon distracted.

0:18:35 > 0:18:39- Wrong way up, you... - No, it isn't.- Yes, it is!

0:18:40 > 0:18:43Oh, there's lots of teddies.

0:18:43 > 0:18:45You need to sort the teddies.

0:18:46 > 0:18:49They're trousers.

0:18:49 > 0:18:52Who would wear...?

0:18:52 > 0:18:55Holy moly, this weighs a lot.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58# Can't touch this

0:18:58 > 0:19:01- # Can't touch this... # - Hammer time!

0:19:01 > 0:19:05Back over the other side, Hansa and Safia are busy emptying the collected

0:19:05 > 0:19:09clothes from yesterday into trolleys, ready to be weighed.

0:19:09 > 0:19:11A normal worker does this at speed.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Kazia usually loves exercising her lungs.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17Hansa, it might help if you take more than one out.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20- OK, yeah.- That might be a bit faster.

0:19:20 > 0:19:24But, for once, it seems like she's run out of chat.

0:19:24 > 0:19:29She's going too slow. Much too slow. It's got to be like this.

0:19:29 > 0:19:31I just feel really mean.

0:19:31 > 0:19:36It's fine, it's fine, because she's doing a good job

0:19:36 > 0:19:37but she just has to do it quicker.

0:19:37 > 0:19:41So, Kazia tries a different approach with Safia.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43Saf, it might help if you go a bit faster.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46Like, take more than one out at a time.

0:19:46 > 0:19:50See, you might get a bonus, Saf.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Don't like this very much.

0:19:55 > 0:19:58Back at the conveyor belt, and there's a problem.

0:19:58 > 0:19:59Wait, we've got a massive gap.

0:19:59 > 0:20:03Without a supervisor to steer them, Josh and Noah are causing chaos.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05Go faster!

0:20:05 > 0:20:10He keeps shouting to go faster but you have to separate everything.

0:20:10 > 0:20:13You have to pile the mountain, bring the rock from the mountain,

0:20:13 > 0:20:16break the rock and then send the rock away.

0:20:16 > 0:20:19Can't do it for ten minutes, never mind eight hours.

0:20:19 > 0:20:21There's just so much.

0:20:21 > 0:20:25One of the workers is forced to step in to get things back on track.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28Boys, do you know the only reason your helper is here

0:20:28 > 0:20:30is because you're so slow.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34They've had to call in real workers, because you're not capable.

0:20:36 > 0:20:40Do you think it's just because it's physically demanding, manual labour?

0:20:40 > 0:20:42I don't know. It's not easy.

0:20:44 > 0:20:47With the production line almost at a halt,

0:20:47 > 0:20:50Tina has to get her factory moving again.

0:20:50 > 0:20:52Got a problem over on bag opening.

0:20:52 > 0:20:54We've got a Polish gentleman helping your bag openers,

0:20:54 > 0:20:57there should be only two bag openers at any one time,

0:20:57 > 0:20:59so they're going too slow.

0:20:59 > 0:21:03But can Kazia do any better ordering Josh and Noah around?

0:21:03 > 0:21:07You're going too slow and there's still clumps.

0:21:07 > 0:21:09I think we should have a break, if I'm totally honest.

0:21:09 > 0:21:11You need to stop standing on the clothes,

0:21:11 > 0:21:13cos you're making them dirty.

0:21:13 > 0:21:15It's hard not to stand on them, cos they're everywhere.

0:21:15 > 0:21:18That's the thing, you're meant to be clearing them up out the way.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21That's what we're trying to do, but there's no ground to stand on

0:21:21 > 0:21:22to clear up.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24With the boys not really listening,

0:21:24 > 0:21:27Tina pulls Kazia aside for some words of advice.

0:21:27 > 0:21:30How do you think you're doing as a supervisor?

0:21:30 > 0:21:33Erm, well, I'm finding it quite hard, actually, because it's weird

0:21:33 > 0:21:36for them going in as my friends, then I'm telling them what to do.

0:21:36 > 0:21:40It's your job to make everybody feel a little bit lifted,

0:21:40 > 0:21:43so how would you go about doing that?

0:21:43 > 0:21:45- It's like, come on, you can do it. - Yeah, yeah.

0:21:45 > 0:21:48- It's like having a lot of enthusiasm.- That's right.

0:21:48 > 0:21:49Be positive.

0:21:49 > 0:21:51With a renewed sense of purpose,

0:21:51 > 0:21:55Kazia heads back out onto the factory floor.

0:21:55 > 0:21:57- How do you think you're doing? - Not good.

0:21:57 > 0:21:59Think of the other workers that have to do it for ages.

0:21:59 > 0:22:02I'd like to do this for zero time. No offence.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04Do you want me to try and help you, then?

0:22:04 > 0:22:07- That would be nice, yeah. - I'll help you, then.

0:22:07 > 0:22:10Just, like, try your hardest and it'll be all good.

0:22:10 > 0:22:14You've got to think, like, I can do this. Come on.

0:22:14 > 0:22:21Positive. We have to do this. We can do it. Come on!

0:22:21 > 0:22:24Back with the girls, Kazia immediately has another problem

0:22:24 > 0:22:28- to deal with. - Safia, you OK? What's happened?

0:22:28 > 0:22:29I can't move it.

0:22:29 > 0:22:31Each sack needs to weigh 71kg,

0:22:31 > 0:22:35and Saf is struggling to shift it to the scales.

0:22:35 > 0:22:37I can't actually drag it now.

0:22:37 > 0:22:39It was hard enough when it was near 30.

0:22:39 > 0:22:41Yeah, let's do it together, yeah.

0:22:41 > 0:22:42OK. Three, two, one...

0:22:44 > 0:22:48Oh, my God. We can drag it.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54You still need to get some more, though.

0:22:54 > 0:22:56- There aren't any more. - Just leave the bag by the thing...

0:22:56 > 0:22:59- Yeah.- ..and let's start another one, yeah?- Back we go.

0:22:59 > 0:23:02Positive thinking.

0:23:03 > 0:23:04Let's go.

0:23:06 > 0:23:10Supervisor Kazia has finally licked all of her workers into shape.

0:23:12 > 0:23:15With the factory operating at full pelt again,

0:23:15 > 0:23:19boss Tina is happy and calls time on the task.

0:23:19 > 0:23:21At first, I was like, "Oh, I have to tell people what to do,

0:23:21 > 0:23:23"they're going to hate me," kind of thing,

0:23:23 > 0:23:25but I think I got into it, actually.

0:23:25 > 0:23:28Kazia has been quite a strong supervisor, actually.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30I think, initially, she was quite hesitant and nervous about

0:23:30 > 0:23:34the whole thing, but, you know, she went about it well,

0:23:34 > 0:23:37she was very polite, she used her manners when she was telling people

0:23:37 > 0:23:39what to do and, halfway through,

0:23:39 > 0:23:41she just rolled her own sleeves up and got stuck in.

0:23:41 > 0:23:46Good job, people. Whoa! Hashtag proud.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49- Hashtag awesome.- Hashtag amazing. - Hashtag yay.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51Hashtag swagger-licious.

0:23:51 > 0:23:53Hashtag I want a group hug.

0:23:59 > 0:24:02So, that's it. Hashtag boardroom.

0:24:06 > 0:24:09So, Tina, could you tell us very quickly

0:24:09 > 0:24:13a bit about how our kids have done, individually?

0:24:13 > 0:24:14So, if we start with Hansa.

0:24:14 > 0:24:18She was very attentive towards what she was doing.

0:24:18 > 0:24:22She was listening to what I was saying and doing the right

0:24:22 > 0:24:23thing, so... And she did it quite fast,

0:24:23 > 0:24:25so I thought she was very good.

0:24:25 > 0:24:28And can you tell us how Kazia has got on?

0:24:28 > 0:24:33You were a little bit unsure how to not boss people around,

0:24:33 > 0:24:37but take authority into what they were doing.

0:24:37 > 0:24:42But once you got over that, I think you were very, very good indeed.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45- Thank you.- How do you feel Saf has got on here?

0:24:45 > 0:24:49It's quite hard when you're doing the running,

0:24:49 > 0:24:52which was like bringing the clothing down through the bins.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55- I think you took that on quite well. - How has Josh done?

0:24:55 > 0:25:00The bag opening proved to be an enormous task for the boys.

0:25:00 > 0:25:02It was a really physical job.

0:25:02 > 0:25:06It was like... Do you know when you try to run through water?

0:25:06 > 0:25:08It was like that.

0:25:08 > 0:25:10It was like that. It took all of my energy.

0:25:10 > 0:25:14And, Tina, can you tell us how Noah has done here?

0:25:14 > 0:25:17He's been very cheerful. He's had a laugh.

0:25:17 > 0:25:21He's had a joke, but it must never interfere with your work.

0:25:21 > 0:25:24And you weren't great, I don't think, on the mountain.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27- Ahh, no. - There was just so much moaning.

0:25:27 > 0:25:31It was like Hansa and Kazia, week one to four.

0:25:31 > 0:25:36So Tina, you've seen all five in action over the past couple of days.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39It's up to you to now tell them who you would hire,

0:25:39 > 0:25:40were they old enough.

0:25:40 > 0:25:43OK, so I would hire Hansa and Kazia.

0:25:46 > 0:25:47Yes!

0:25:47 > 0:25:51I feel like, at the beginning, our group didn't really know their

0:25:51 > 0:25:56own country, but now, after spending time in five different factories and

0:25:56 > 0:26:00farms meeting workers from all over the world, and having the chance to

0:26:00 > 0:26:04experience for themselves the hard work that goes on here, they now

0:26:04 > 0:26:09understand the UK that is on their doorstep, but often hidden from view.

0:26:12 > 0:26:15And now our kids have returned to their families,

0:26:15 > 0:26:17has anything changed?

0:26:17 > 0:26:20Two weeks ago, Kazia relied on her mum for everything.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22Words just can't describe how much I've learnt.

0:26:22 > 0:26:25Before, if my mum asked me to do something, I would be like,

0:26:25 > 0:26:26"No, you can do it."

0:26:26 > 0:26:30One big dramatic change is that she has started helping round the home.

0:26:30 > 0:26:34I've taught her how to iron, which is amazing.

0:26:34 > 0:26:37This UK trip has also been a game-changer for Josh.

0:26:37 > 0:26:41I felt like a lot of poverty and stuff like that was

0:26:41 > 0:26:43more in other countries, like bigger countries,

0:26:43 > 0:26:47because there's a lot more people but it turns out that it is here,

0:26:47 > 0:26:50as well, and it's just that we don't see it sometimes.

0:26:50 > 0:26:53Whatever's happened to him, he's come back a little bit more

0:26:53 > 0:26:55switched on, so he's a bit more awake.

0:26:55 > 0:26:59I appreciate now how much my parents work to give me money.

0:26:59 > 0:27:02I've seen how hard other people work.

0:27:02 > 0:27:05I don't really take money for granted as much now.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07I think that Hansa has had a big reality check.

0:27:07 > 0:27:11I think she now appreciates a bit more how fortunate she is.

0:27:11 > 0:27:14Before the trip, Noah was a real showman.

0:27:14 > 0:27:18I think, slowly, I'm sort of changing a lot more as a person,

0:27:18 > 0:27:24you know? I'm like... I've sort of matured a lot more into a man.

0:27:24 > 0:27:26I think really being in some of the places he was

0:27:26 > 0:27:31and seeing how hard people work to support their families

0:27:31 > 0:27:35and the types of jobs they did, that has had an impact on him, yes.

0:27:35 > 0:27:38Working their way around the UK has made all of our kids

0:27:38 > 0:27:41look at their own country with fresh eyes.

0:27:41 > 0:27:43I'm much more aware about the world around me

0:27:43 > 0:27:47and what actually happens, rather than staying in my little bubble.

0:27:47 > 0:27:51But now I'm like, maybe they need help, maybe I should do this,

0:27:51 > 0:27:53and thinking about others for a change.
