0:29:53 > 0:29:56Shauna is like most 11-year-old girls.
0:29:56 > 0:29:58She's at secondary school, loves One Direction,
0:29:58 > 0:30:02and is a huge fan of Hull FC rugby league team.
0:30:02 > 0:30:06But her life can sometimes be quite different to other children
0:30:06 > 0:30:08as Shauna is a carer to her mum Kerry.
0:30:08 > 0:30:10All right, Shauna, tell us about your lovely mum.
0:30:10 > 0:30:15My mum has got multiple sclerosis, which is an illness that
0:30:15 > 0:30:20affects the muscles and makes her really tired and get her down.
0:30:20 > 0:30:25I mainly help my mum with the cooking and the washing up
0:30:25 > 0:30:29and I help with the injections and getting things ready for her.
0:30:29 > 0:30:32She does put herself down a bit
0:30:32 > 0:30:34because she does a lot more than what she makes out.
0:30:34 > 0:30:37She also sleeps downstairs.
0:30:37 > 0:30:40I sleep on the recliner and Shauna sleeps on the settee.
0:30:40 > 0:30:44She is always the first one to say I am staying downstairs with mum.
0:30:44 > 0:30:47- And she stays downstairs every night.- Wow, that is amazing.
0:30:49 > 0:30:52Now, it's obvious that Shauna is a great support to her mom.
0:30:52 > 0:30:55And there is a place that is a great support to Shauna, too.
0:30:58 > 0:31:02Hessle Road Network is a community-run organisation
0:31:02 > 0:31:07that delivers a wide range of services to young people like Shauna.
0:31:07 > 0:31:11They have a fantastic youth project running activities including
0:31:11 > 0:31:13arts and crafts, dancing, and sports.
0:31:13 > 0:31:17Support is provided through project workers like Susan Cairns
0:31:17 > 0:31:22who is Sport Relief funded and works with the group that Shauna attends.
0:31:22 > 0:31:24Shauna has developed her confidence
0:31:24 > 0:31:28since I have been working with her. She is lovely to work with.
0:31:28 > 0:31:33And she receives one-to-one mentoring from me.
0:31:33 > 0:31:37It is just any issues that are concerning her anywhere.
0:31:37 > 0:31:44She is a breath of fresh air. When we met her, we were like, yeah.
0:31:44 > 0:31:46- You're really bad at this! - I need to stop doing that.
0:31:46 > 0:31:51It's obvious how important Hessle Road network is to young people

0:31:52 > 0:31:56It's a place where they can have fun and where have someone to talk to.
