0:00:04 > 0:00:06Hi, I'm Shannon, and welcome to Style Download.
0:00:06 > 0:00:09Harry's 10. He likes playing snooker,
0:00:09 > 0:00:10cricket, and he has two cats,
0:00:10 > 0:00:12and he loves ice cream.
0:00:12 > 0:00:15He's in the Cub Scouts, and he's got a big camping trip coming up,
0:00:15 > 0:00:18so I'm here to make sure he's ready for any eventuality.
0:00:18 > 0:00:21Oh, and he doesn't know it yet. So let's go and surprise him.
0:00:27 > 0:00:29- Hi, Harry.- Hi.
0:00:29 > 0:00:31I'm here to help you with your camping trip.
0:00:31 > 0:00:33- Can I come in?- Yeah.
0:00:33 > 0:00:35So, Harry, tell me about yourself.
0:00:35 > 0:00:38I'm into sports and I'm part of the Cub Scouts.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41- Right, and you've got your big camping trip coming up.- Yeah.
0:00:41 > 0:00:45- So I'm here to make sure that you're 100% prepared, OK?- Yeah.
0:00:45 > 0:00:47I'm good at what to do when camping,
0:00:47 > 0:00:49but I'm not really sure with all the practical stuff.
0:00:49 > 0:00:51So if you teach me how to put up a tent, I'll help
0:00:51 > 0:00:54with everything else. Sound like a good trade?
0:00:54 > 0:00:55- Yeah, sounds good.- OK, cool.
0:00:55 > 0:00:58- Well, I'll meet you outside with a tent.- OK.
0:01:09 > 0:01:12There you are! I'm going to need your help with this.
0:01:12 > 0:01:14That's my old tent. This is my new one.
0:01:17 > 0:01:19Oh. Well that makes it easier.
0:01:19 > 0:01:22Time for Stage 2. Let's get inside.
0:01:22 > 0:01:25So, if the most important thing about camping is your tent,
0:01:25 > 0:01:27then the second most important thing could be a snack.
0:01:27 > 0:01:31- Are you a fan of a snack? - Well, you could say that.- OK, cool.
0:01:31 > 0:01:35- We're going to make something called S'mores.- What is a S'more?
0:01:35 > 0:01:38Well, all you need is a bar of chocolate, a packet of biscuits,
0:01:38 > 0:01:39some wooden skewers,
0:01:39 > 0:01:42and most importantly, a bag of marshmallows.
0:01:42 > 0:01:45- Sounds interesting.- Watch and learn, Harry. Watch and learn.
0:01:51 > 0:01:54And finally, you skewer the marshmallow onto a stick
0:01:54 > 0:01:58and hold it over the campfire, with adult supervision, of course.
0:01:58 > 0:02:03- Well, there's only one problem. We haven't got a campfire.- Oh, yeah.
0:02:03 > 0:02:06Guess we'll have to throw them away, then. Only kidding!
0:02:06 > 0:02:09We can cheat and use the microwave as well. Come on.
0:02:09 > 0:02:12Leave in the microwave for about 10 seconds, but make sure
0:02:12 > 0:02:15you allow to cool before touching, as they can be very hot.
0:02:16 > 0:02:18OK. That's snacks sorted. Now for games.
0:02:18 > 0:02:20Up to your bedroom for this one.
0:02:20 > 0:02:24Now, you might be wondering why there's a tent in your room.
0:02:24 > 0:02:28All will become clear once I give you this and do this.
0:02:28 > 0:02:31Come on, follow me in the tent.
0:02:31 > 0:02:33OK, so now I'm going to teach you the best game
0:02:33 > 0:02:36to play in a tent ever - shadow puppets.
0:02:36 > 0:02:38So the aim of the game is to guess what animal
0:02:38 > 0:02:40the other person's making with their hand shadows.
0:02:40 > 0:02:44- So to do a rabbit, it's like this.- OK.
0:02:44 > 0:02:47And then to do a swan, it's like this.
0:02:47 > 0:02:48OK.
0:02:48 > 0:02:51- Now you try.- OK.
0:02:54 > 0:02:56Oh, you're a natural. OK, let's get out,
0:02:56 > 0:02:58cos I've got one final thing to show you.
0:02:58 > 0:03:01Right, OK, so imagine it's pitch black
0:03:01 > 0:03:03and you can't find your tent even with a torch.
0:03:03 > 0:03:04What do you do?
0:03:04 > 0:03:05Sleep on the grass?
0:03:05 > 0:03:07Good answer, but wrong. Use these.
0:03:07 > 0:03:10Glow-in-the-dark stickers, so you can pinpoint your tent,
0:03:10 > 0:03:13- wherever it is.- Cool.
0:03:13 > 0:03:14Right, let's get sticking.
0:03:28 > 0:03:30Camping is great fun,
0:03:30 > 0:03:33but it can be even more fun if you follow these simple tips.
0:03:33 > 0:03:36Find a tent you're comfortable with putting up.
0:03:36 > 0:03:39Some of them can be pretty tough to put up,
0:03:39 > 0:03:41but a pop-up tent is easy, and costs as little as £20.
0:03:42 > 0:03:46Creating S'mores, your campfire snack.
0:03:46 > 0:03:48You'll need a packet of marshmallows,
0:03:48 > 0:03:50wooden skewers, digestive biscuits and a slab of chocolate.
0:03:50 > 0:03:53Once the campfire is going, slide one of your marshmallows
0:03:53 > 0:03:55onto a skewer and hold it at a safe distance
0:03:55 > 0:03:57over the fire for a few seconds
0:03:57 > 0:03:58while supervised by an adult
0:03:58 > 0:04:00at all times.
0:04:00 > 0:04:01Slide the hot marshmallow
0:04:01 > 0:04:03onto one of your biscuits,
0:04:03 > 0:04:06being careful not to touch, and place a piece of chocolate on top.
0:04:06 > 0:04:09Once cool enough, you can start to eat. Delicious.
0:04:09 > 0:04:12And the best part is, if you don't have a campfire,
0:04:12 > 0:04:15you can do them in the microwave. Just leave them in for 10 seconds.
0:04:17 > 0:04:19A great way to make the most of the dark
0:04:19 > 0:04:21is by playing a game like shadow puppets.
0:04:21 > 0:04:23Shine a torch against the side of your tent
0:04:23 > 0:04:25while making animal shapes with your hands.
0:04:25 > 0:04:27Your friends must guess the animal from the shadow,
0:04:27 > 0:04:29either from inside the tent or outside.
0:04:29 > 0:04:31To make a rabbit, clench your fist
0:04:31 > 0:04:33and point two fingers up to make the ears.
0:04:33 > 0:04:36Then, using your other hand, wrap it around
0:04:36 > 0:04:38and use the knuckle as a mouth.
0:04:38 > 0:04:43My favourite part of the day was probably meeting Shannon.
0:04:43 > 0:04:45I think I got the better end of the deal,
0:04:45 > 0:04:46because I put up the tent,
0:04:46 > 0:04:49and that was easy, but Shannon taught me a lot more.
0:04:49 > 0:04:50So the good news is,
0:04:50 > 0:04:54Harry's ready and packed for his big camping trip.
0:04:54 > 0:04:56- The bad news is, it's not till next week.- Ohhh!
0:04:56 > 0:04:59That's Style Download complete.
