0:00:02 > 0:00:03What time is it?

0:00:03 > 0:00:05Ooh, it's Technobabble time!

0:00:05 > 0:00:06HE YAWNS

0:00:06 > 0:00:09Think I'll just hit the snooze button.

0:00:09 > 0:00:10I'm not quite ready yet.

0:00:26 > 0:00:30Here's what's coming up on today's get-out-of-bed show...

0:00:30 > 0:00:32Young Samuel is back

0:00:32 > 0:00:34and he's gone all arty farty.

0:00:34 > 0:00:35Let's talk about some arty apps.

0:00:35 > 0:00:39Lucy gets in a spin behind the wheel of a self-driving car.

0:00:39 > 0:00:41It's blowing my mind.

0:00:41 > 0:00:45Plus Niki and Sammy are here and they're talking internet slang!

0:00:45 > 0:00:48- YOLO.- You only live once.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50What. A. Show.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53But first, it's my favourite little Irish helper.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55It's Aoife and she's gaming!

0:00:56 > 0:00:58Games are great for letting you play

0:00:58 > 0:01:01in all kinds of fantastical settings.

0:01:01 > 0:01:04But some games called sims, or simulation games,

0:01:04 > 0:01:06are all about simpler pleasures.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09Euro Truck Simulator 2 doesn't sound all that exciting at first -

0:01:09 > 0:01:12you take on the role as a truck driver

0:01:12 > 0:01:15and transport your cargo, wherever it needs to go.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18But there's something quite satisfying about it all,

0:01:18 > 0:01:21driving around all the European cities, eventually,

0:01:21 > 0:01:24you expand your business enough hire new drivers to work for you.

0:01:28 > 0:01:32Now, Elite Dangerous is very much like Euro Truck Simulator 2.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35You're transporting goods from one location to the other.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37The only difference is, you're in space,

0:01:37 > 0:01:41so the view is much more impressive than the M25.

0:01:41 > 0:01:43You can choose how you want your space business to operate,

0:01:43 > 0:01:48whether you want to abide by the law or do things your own way.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51The huge open world galaxy that you fly around is based on

0:01:51 > 0:01:55a realistic 1:1 scale representation of the real Milky Way,

0:01:55 > 0:01:58so good luck trying to explore it all!

0:02:01 > 0:02:05How about a nice quiet game where you experience what it's like to

0:02:05 > 0:02:07live as a piece of bread instead?

0:02:07 > 0:02:08Yep, you heard that right.

0:02:08 > 0:02:12I Am Bread answers every burning question you've ever had

0:02:12 > 0:02:16about what it's like to loaf around the house as a slice of bread.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19Your quest is to reach the toaster while remaining delicious

0:02:19 > 0:02:23and edible - a task easier said than done.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28You'll never look at your sandwiches the same way again.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31Thanks, Aoife! Some great games there.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34ALARM RINGS Oh, what time is it now?! Oh, no!

0:02:34 > 0:02:36It's even worse than last week.

0:02:36 > 0:02:38Vlogstergram. Urgh.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43How will transport change in the future?

0:02:43 > 0:02:45Oooh. Good one.

0:02:45 > 0:02:48But, if you're not all travelling around in wormholes like me,

0:02:48 > 0:02:50I don't want to know.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53I'll send Lucy today, this one's right up her street.

0:03:00 > 0:03:02Where is this bus?

0:03:02 > 0:03:03It's behind you!

0:03:05 > 0:03:07Hey, Vlogster, no, it's not.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10Made you look! Hee-hee! Gosh, I'm good!

0:03:10 > 0:03:12What are you bothering me with today?

0:03:12 > 0:03:15One of our Babblers would like to know how transport will

0:03:15 > 0:03:17- change in the future. - But I'm on my way to work.

0:03:17 > 0:03:22You're driving me up the wall now! Get it?! Hee-hee! Come on, let's go!

0:03:22 > 0:03:25All right, don't get your knickers in a twist.

0:03:25 > 0:03:26Let me just get changed.

0:03:26 > 0:03:29I'm sending Lucy to visit a carmaker who has developed

0:03:29 > 0:03:33one of the first self-driving cars to be allowed on UK roads.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37She's meeting techspert Laura Hardy who is going to teach her

0:03:37 > 0:03:39all there is to know about this impressive vehicle!

0:03:41 > 0:03:45So, Laura, I believe you're going to show me a car that drives itself.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47I'm assuming this good-looking machine is it.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50It's a little normal looking though. I'm not going to lie, I was

0:03:50 > 0:03:53expecting something a little bit more futuristic looking.

0:03:53 > 0:03:56Yeah, it does look pretty normal, but if you take a look around,

0:03:56 > 0:03:58I think you'll notice some major differences.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02Let's take a look.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05OK, it's empty. Where is the engine, Laura?

0:04:05 > 0:04:06Where is the engine?

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Well, why don't you take a look at the back.

0:04:09 > 0:04:10OK, let's go to the boot.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13OK, now I'm really confused.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16All I can see are car seats. Still no engine!

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Laura, how on earth does this car work?

0:04:18 > 0:04:21If you want to press the button to shut the boot, I'll explain.

0:04:26 > 0:04:28And this is the chassis. And here is motor.

0:04:28 > 0:04:30- Oh, my gosh! It's tiny.- Yeah.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32It doesn't need much, just a rotor.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35And it's powered by the batteries in the floor of the car.

0:04:35 > 0:04:38So this thing is 100% electric and is powered by batteries.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41That's right. Thousands of these little cells.

0:04:41 > 0:04:43Amazing! So how do you charge one of these?

0:04:43 > 0:04:44You can charge them anywhere.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47There's thousands of charging points all over the country

0:04:47 > 0:04:49and you can also charge it in your house overnight.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52That's amazing! So I can park this in my garage

0:04:52 > 0:04:55and have the comfort of charging it in my own home.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57Yeah, and 300 miles ready to go the next day.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00- That's a pretty long journey. - Yep.- OK.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03I'm ready to see one of these things drive themselves. Should we do it?

0:05:03 > 0:05:05Let's do it.

0:05:09 > 0:05:13Whoa! That is a whopping great display on the dashboard.

0:05:13 > 0:05:14This thing is huge.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Oooh, I likey!

0:05:16 > 0:05:20Now this is the sort of screen I could get used to!

0:05:20 > 0:05:24Er, jog on, Vlogster. I'm about to look at some serious hi tech.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27I'm going to need that screen. So I'm ready to drive.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Let's get going.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37So we're just coming onto the motorway now

0:05:37 > 0:05:39and you can set the speed now.

0:05:39 > 0:05:41So the top speed that you want to be going at.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43It's not going to go any faster than that.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46Then we can activate the auto-steer and that means that the car is

0:05:46 > 0:05:49now braking, accelerating and steering for you.

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Does this car actually drive on its own?

0:05:52 > 0:05:54No. You still need to be behind the wheel.

0:05:54 > 0:05:58- So no naps in the back? - No. Definitely not. Definitely not.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02I am so impressed with the self-steering.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05I like the fact that I can just quickly scratch my ear

0:06:05 > 0:06:09and then the other one and the car is looking after me.

0:06:09 > 0:06:11It's smooth as well.

0:06:11 > 0:06:13As I'm driving, I can feel it altering the speed.

0:06:13 > 0:06:15How is it able to do that?

0:06:15 > 0:06:18Now we're slowing down, now we're speeding up.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20- It's blowing my mind! - THEY LAUGH

0:06:20 > 0:06:22So it's keeping track of the car in front.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25If that car slows down, you'll slow down and

0:06:25 > 0:06:27if that car speeds up, it will speed up to your

0:06:27 > 0:06:28top speed that you've set.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30Obviously we're staying within the lane,

0:06:30 > 0:06:33how is it able to do that, is it via sensors?

0:06:33 > 0:06:35Yes. So the car has got 12 sensors around it,

0:06:35 > 0:06:38so it's able to sense vehicles around you, objects around you,

0:06:38 > 0:06:40and also it's looking at the white lines.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44It's keeping us within the white lines in a safe distance.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47So talk to me about the tech inside this thing. What else can it do?

0:06:47 > 0:06:50The technology is updatable all the time.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52We can change the user interface,

0:06:52 > 0:06:54people can download new functionality overnight

0:06:54 > 0:06:55on their driveways.

0:06:55 > 0:06:58So, in a way, this car is a bit like a smartphone.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00I think that is really cool.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03- Do you see cars being completely driverless in the future?- Yeah.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06At the moment, the safest combination is you

0:07:06 > 0:07:08and the driver assistance system.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11As soon as the car is safer than the driver,

0:07:11 > 0:07:14then we've more chance of tipping it the other way.

0:07:14 > 0:07:18That's insane. I think my mind has actually just been blown.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20What do you think about that then, Vlog?

0:07:20 > 0:07:22Well, I'm a very good driver!

0:07:22 > 0:07:24But how about one for the road?

0:07:24 > 0:07:27This isn't Transformers, but it is Motobot.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30A robot that can ride a motorbike all on its own.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33Designed to perform better than a world champion racer,

0:07:33 > 0:07:36this robo-rider will one day race around the track

0:07:36 > 0:07:39at more than 125mph.

0:07:39 > 0:07:41Talk about putting you in the driving seat, Vlogs.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43What else you got for me?

0:07:43 > 0:07:47Ever wanted to float in thin air, a bit like yours truly?

0:07:47 > 0:07:50Then this future concept hover car could be for you!

0:07:50 > 0:07:53Using electromagnetic road networks,

0:07:53 > 0:07:55the car travels a couple of feet in the air.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57It has a series of onboard sensors

0:07:57 > 0:08:01and a computer to help you safely from A to B.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04Time to put the brakes on, Lucy, consider yourself parked!

0:08:04 > 0:08:06Now I was talking to my mate Simon

0:08:06 > 0:08:09down the swimming pool the other day, and I was saying,

0:08:09 > 0:08:11"Simon, we don't have enough arty apps on this show."

0:08:11 > 0:08:13And he said, "Well, why don't you put some on?"

0:08:13 > 0:08:16And I said, "OK then, I might just do that."

0:08:16 > 0:08:19And he said, "OK, do that then." So I am.

0:08:19 > 0:08:21True story. Here's Sam!

0:08:21 > 0:08:23Let's talk about some arty apps.

0:08:23 > 0:08:26The first app we're going to be talking about today is Animate It.

0:08:26 > 0:08:28You can use your phone camera to make animations

0:08:28 > 0:08:30and time lapses out of very simple objects.

0:08:30 > 0:08:33As a little tip, the smaller the motion between each frame,

0:08:33 > 0:08:34the smoother the video will be.

0:08:34 > 0:08:38The next app is Photo Sketch and is based on a very simple idea.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40The app allows you to take or choose a picture

0:08:40 > 0:08:41and turn it into a sketch for you.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44It's a really good app to help you draw cos you can print

0:08:44 > 0:08:47out one of the sketches and trace over it and it should help you.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49This one is for keen drawers.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52Sketch is kind of like drawing, but without all the fuss and mess.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55It's a sketch pad but on your phone, and it has loads of

0:08:55 > 0:08:57different kinds of features. The best part about this app

0:08:57 > 0:09:00is that there is no clearing up to do afterwards. If you make a mistake

0:09:00 > 0:09:02you can use the eraser and rub something out easily.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05The last app today is Kid Colouring Book.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07It's a great app for filling in the gaps in the day.

0:09:07 > 0:09:09Whether it be waiting for your friends,

0:09:09 > 0:09:12on your school break, or just relaxing in the evening.

0:09:12 > 0:09:14This app has so many photos for you to colour in.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17That's all we have time for today. I hope you've enjoyed these arty

0:09:17 > 0:09:19apps. Make sure you go check them out!

0:09:19 > 0:09:24Oh, I'm such a great painter. Van Gogh's rubbish.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Ta-da!

0:09:26 > 0:09:28Better than I could have imagined.

0:09:28 > 0:09:31This guy. He knows the right thing to say.

0:09:31 > 0:09:36Come on then, Vlogstergram - do your worst!

0:09:36 > 0:09:38Vlogster, could you turn off the internet?

0:09:38 > 0:09:42Whoa! What's the internet ever done to you, Cemahl?!

0:09:42 > 0:09:45Apart from show you how to bite Charlie's finger.

0:09:45 > 0:09:48Oww, Charlieeeee!

0:09:48 > 0:09:49The internet is very robust

0:09:49 > 0:09:53because it doesn't rely on just one super-computer or giant cable.

0:09:53 > 0:09:57It's a network of other computer networks, all working together -

0:09:57 > 0:10:02crossing over continents, under oceans and even through space.

0:10:02 > 0:10:04When you connect to the internet,

0:10:04 > 0:10:06data follows one of millions of pathways.

0:10:06 > 0:10:09And, if a particular connection is damaged,

0:10:09 > 0:10:11the data finds a different route to your device.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14Trying to turn off all these pathways

0:10:14 > 0:10:16would be a bit like herding a million cows.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18Come back!

0:10:18 > 0:10:20It's a messy business, I can tell you!

0:10:20 > 0:10:24The internet was first switched on in 1990, and since then some

0:10:24 > 0:10:28nations have intentionally switched it off in their own countries.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31There can be lots of reasons for this, but it's usually

0:10:31 > 0:10:35in times of crisis, like a threat to national security or during conflict.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38But clever people can find quick fixes.

0:10:38 > 0:10:41Landline phones could still make international calls to

0:10:41 > 0:10:45log on to dial-up internet in the outside world.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48And voicemail services might be used to turn spoken messages

0:10:48 > 0:10:51into texts and tweets on social media.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53Something that could turn off the internet,

0:10:53 > 0:10:58with disastrous consequences, is an electromagnetic pulse or EMP.

0:10:58 > 0:11:03A large enough EMP could make all electronic equipment useless.

0:11:03 > 0:11:08And giant pulses happen during solar storms created by the sun.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11The last one struck in 1859 when a mega-flare hurled

0:11:11 > 0:11:15around a trillion kilograms of charged particles towards the Earth.

0:11:15 > 0:11:20Thankfully, it's unlikely a solar pulse would cover the entire planet,

0:11:20 > 0:11:23and the countries that weren't affected would send supplies

0:11:23 > 0:11:27to areas that were, and rush to repair communication networks.

0:11:27 > 0:11:31So the internet would be back quicker than The Terminator!

0:11:33 > 0:11:35And there you have it.

0:11:35 > 0:11:38Right, I need a challenge! I need Niki and Sammy.

0:11:38 > 0:11:40I need a Niki and Sammy Challenge!

0:11:41 > 0:11:43Hey, guys, what we thought we'd do today

0:11:43 > 0:11:46is a good old-fashioned vlogger challenge.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48The challenge we want to do is the internet slang challenge!

0:11:48 > 0:11:51What we have to do is take it in turns to see

0:11:51 > 0:11:53who knows their internet slang the best.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55The first word for you is OTP.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57One true pairing.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00Yep. IDC.

0:12:00 > 0:12:01I don't care.

0:12:01 > 0:12:03I think you could try.

0:12:03 > 0:12:04I don't care.

0:12:04 > 0:12:06I think you could at least put your heart in it.

0:12:06 > 0:12:07I DON'T CARE!

0:12:07 > 0:12:09That is it - I don't care!

0:12:09 > 0:12:11That's really rude. I can't work with you.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17This one took the internet by storm last year, it's YOLO.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19You only live once.

0:12:19 > 0:12:21SMH.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23- Well, I know what this means. - Well, what is it?

0:12:23 > 0:12:28When someone told me what it meant, they told me it meant suck my hair.

0:12:28 > 0:12:30Well, no, it doesn't mean that.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32Shake my head.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34It means, shaking my head. But, yeah.

0:12:34 > 0:12:36No, shake my head.

0:12:36 > 0:12:37B-A-E. BAE.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40Before anyone else.

0:12:40 > 0:12:42As everybody knows on the interwebs.

0:12:42 > 0:12:43On fleek.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47And again, used it in a sentence. Niki's hair is on fleek.

0:12:47 > 0:12:51Or Sammy's eyebrows are on fleek.

0:12:51 > 0:12:52They're not.

0:12:53 > 0:12:55I won!

0:12:55 > 0:12:58I think if I'm being entirely honest, I let you win.

0:12:58 > 0:13:03Thank you, boys! You know you're my favourite twins on this show.

0:13:03 > 0:13:07Sure, you're the only twins here so you kind of win by default -
