0:06:54 > 0:06:56and we're going to hear all of them today.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58But you've also been producing your own brilliant music,

0:06:58 > 0:07:02art and dance, inspired by those pieces, and we're going to see some

0:07:02 > 0:07:05of that during the concert, too, on the screens and here on stage.

0:07:31 > 0:07:32Ah-ha!

0:07:32 > 0:07:34Oh, very funny.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39Anyway, those are my favourite eight notes.

0:07:39 > 0:07:41How did you know that, Thomas? That was quite cool.

0:07:41 > 0:07:42Do you recognise them?

0:07:42 > 0:07:44- AUDIENCE: Yes. - Of course you do.

0:07:44 > 0:07:47They are the opening notes of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30MUSIC ENDS, APPLAUSE

0:09:32 > 0:09:34Royal Albert Hall as quick as you can.

0:09:34 > 0:09:37I'm on my way, Barney. I had to go get a wood block.

0:09:37 > 0:09:39The orchestra left theirs in the cafe in Cardiff,

0:09:39 > 0:09:43and you can't play this next piece of music without a wood block.

0:09:43 > 0:09:46It's music called Short Ride In A Fast Machine,

0:09:46 > 0:09:47which is just what I'm having now.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49As quick as you can, please!

0:09:52 > 0:09:54The composer of this piece, John Adams,

0:09:54 > 0:09:56took a ride in his friend's sports car,

0:09:56 > 0:09:59and after a crazy, scary, hair-raising ride,

0:09:59 > 0:10:00soon wished he hadn't.

0:10:00 > 0:10:03TRAFFIC HORNS BLARE

0:10:03 > 0:10:06But it gave him an idea to compose music full of racing rhythms,

0:10:06 > 0:10:08speed and energy.

0:10:12 > 0:10:16And it's all kicked off by this, the wood block,

0:10:16 > 0:10:20which is why the whole orchestra's going to be really happy to know...

0:10:22 > 0:10:23..that I'm here!

0:10:25 > 0:10:26CHEERING

0:10:30 > 0:10:34And it's time for Short Ride In A Fast Machine.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10MUSIC ENDS, APPLAUSE

0:13:17 > 0:13:20When we were told we were doing classical music, we were like,

0:13:20 > 0:13:22"Oh, this is going to be the worst topic ever.

0:13:22 > 0:13:23"This is actually going to be horrible."

0:13:23 > 0:13:27Then the music started playing and it was just quite fun.

0:13:28 > 0:13:32I think Ten Pieces is absolutely fantastic.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34They're all, like, really exciting.

0:13:35 > 0:13:40If someone were to tell me classical music is not for them,

0:13:40 > 0:13:43I would say, "But have you listened to it?"

0:13:43 > 0:13:45SHE HUMS 'IN THE HALL OF THE MOUNTAIN KING'

0:14:02 > 0:14:03You can get lost in music.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15I've seen a different side of classical music.

0:14:21 > 0:14:23APPLAUSE

0:14:23 > 0:14:27LOW RUMBLE

0:14:27 > 0:14:31It sounds to me like a musical storm is brewing.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34I think you're right, Molly, which is actually great,

0:14:34 > 0:14:36because our next piece, written by Benjamin Britten,

0:14:36 > 0:14:39is all about a whirling, swirling, stormy sea,

0:14:39 > 0:14:42and to perform their own dance inspired by Britten's

0:14:42 > 0:14:44Storm Interlude from Peter Grimes,

0:14:44 > 0:14:46let's welcome the boys of St Joseph's College, Ipswich.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59You know, Molly, I think we're going to need the audience's help

0:14:59 > 0:15:02- here, you know, to get the orchestra in the mood.- Great idea.

0:15:02 > 0:15:04Let's make our own storm.

0:15:04 > 0:15:09We're all going to need some hand rubs, some clicks, some knee slaps.

0:15:09 > 0:15:13And we're going to move the sounds around the hall like a Mexican wave.

0:15:13 > 0:15:14OK, here we go.
