0:01:27 > 0:01:31- That's exactly what I'm saying. We do not need a Lilo. Come on.- Ohh!

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Today's Dengineer is Nathan.

0:01:40 > 0:01:43He loves to cook and bake... well, anything.

0:01:43 > 0:01:48I've made Victoria sponge, cinnamon rolls, pain au chocolat,

0:01:48 > 0:01:50croissants and little pastries that I love.

0:01:50 > 0:01:54It's only been recently that I've been able to cook because of...

0:01:54 > 0:01:57well, I've been adopted and we've got a kitchen now.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Nathan was adopted by his dads, Andrew and Ian, four years ago,

0:02:00 > 0:02:03after previously living with a foster family.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07It was quite different being adopted than being put into foster care

0:02:07 > 0:02:09because you know these are a family you'll be with

0:02:09 > 0:02:11for the rest of your life.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13I felt so joy, because I thought this was going to be

0:02:13 > 0:02:15the place I'd be for the rest of my life

0:02:15 > 0:02:17and I know that there's going to be no moving now.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22Nathan loves to work on his recipes in the kitchen,

0:02:22 > 0:02:26but it's often taken over by his dad restoring old furniture.

0:02:28 > 0:02:30On the weekend, every time I want to cook,

0:02:30 > 0:02:33my dad will take a massive table into the kitchen,

0:02:33 > 0:02:36put it on the desktop and start scraping it,

0:02:36 > 0:02:38and it's just really annoying.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42What this fella needs is a den where he can bake whenever he wants.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45When I'm older, I want to be a chef.

0:02:45 > 0:02:47I think the den will give me my own space

0:02:47 > 0:02:49where I can practise and practise and practise.

0:02:49 > 0:02:51Well, Nathan's in luck,

0:02:51 > 0:02:54because a dream den is just what he's going to get.

0:02:54 > 0:02:58And he has no idea that he's about to become a Dengineer.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02I'll tell you what. All this talk of food, I'm starving.

0:03:02 > 0:03:06You're in luck, because Nathan is on his way to get some food right now

0:03:06 > 0:03:08and that's where we're going to be surprising him.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Can we have some food as well?

0:03:10 > 0:03:12- Yes, we can have some food, Mark. - Come on, let's go.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Nathan's off for a bite to eat with his parents,

0:03:19 > 0:03:21but little does he know that the Dengineers team

0:03:21 > 0:03:25has rigged up the restaurant with hidden cameras.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28And we've even got Dad in on the surprise.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Everything's set in the restaurant.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34All we need now is the main man himself.

0:03:34 > 0:03:35I can see them, I can see them.

0:03:35 > 0:03:39Stay in, stay in, cos they're walking up, they're walking up.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42There's Andrew. Andrew's looking at you, so be careful.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46Nathan's made it into the restaurant.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Right, I think they're in. They're in, they're in.

0:03:50 > 0:03:52- Are you going to sit there?- OK.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55And he's still completely unaware of what's about to happen.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58It's time now we go and take his order and give him some grub.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01- Shall we go? - Come on, let's do it.- Come on.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06- How do you like your eggs - fried, poached or scrambled?- Poached.

0:04:11 > 0:04:12The food is ready

0:04:12 > 0:04:16and now it's time to deliver Nathan the surprise of his life.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Let's go! Let's go!

0:04:23 > 0:04:27- Did somebody order a full breakfast with a poached egg?- Yep.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29- There you go.- Hello!- Oh, hello!

0:04:29 > 0:04:30- How are you?- Hi, Nathan!

0:04:30 > 0:04:34- Amazing!- Hi, Nathan.

0:04:34 > 0:04:38My name's Lauren. This is Mark. We're from CBBC's The Dengineers.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43- You're going to be coming with us to build your very own dream den.- Wow!

0:04:44 > 0:04:46Cool! Amazing!

0:04:46 > 0:04:49Right, so eat your egg, your bacon and your sausage,

0:04:49 > 0:04:51your hash brown, your beans, your mushrooms and tomato.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53When you've done all of that,

0:04:53 > 0:04:55we'll see you outside, cos we haven't got much time

0:04:55 > 0:04:57and you've got your dream den to build.

0:04:57 > 0:05:02I'm kind of amazed and I just can't believe what's just happened.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04- There you go!- Hello!- Oh, hello!

0:05:04 > 0:05:06- How are you?- Hi, Nathan!- Amazing!

0:05:06 > 0:05:08I was thinking the waiter had dropped my food

0:05:08 > 0:05:11and someone else had to give it to me, and I realised it was Mark.

0:05:11 > 0:05:12- High five.- Nice one, Nathan.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15It's so good to see him finally know that it's going to happen,

0:05:15 > 0:05:18because lying to him for the last week has been...

0:05:18 > 0:05:19It's just been difficult, you know.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23I feel amazed how I'm actually going to get something

0:05:23 > 0:05:25that I've probably dreamed of for a long time

0:05:25 > 0:05:29actually being built for me and my friends, which will be amazing.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Our first port of call is the Dengineers mobile HQ,

0:05:32 > 0:05:36which has some mega-cool technology to get this den rolling.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41So Nathan, in here, we need to download all the ideas

0:05:41 > 0:05:43that you've got in your head about your den.

0:05:43 > 0:05:46- Ready for it?- Yep. - What about the outside?

0:05:46 > 0:05:48The outside's going to be quite...

0:05:48 > 0:05:51It's going to go with the house, so it's going to be curved walls.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54- That's curved.- Yeah, like that, yeah.- Ah, that's cool.

0:05:54 > 0:05:58- Sort of like a steel kind of pod, that, with a curved look.- Yeah.

0:05:58 > 0:06:01I like the one full of baking materials there.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03- This one there?- Yeah.- Baking!

0:06:03 > 0:06:05What kind of thing are you into cooking?

0:06:05 > 0:06:09I like cake kind of things, making three-tiered chocolate cakes.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12- Ahh!- Nice!- Not one tier. - Not one.- Three tiers.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14Inside, what would you like?

0:06:14 > 0:06:16One of my sides, we're going to try and get...

0:06:16 > 0:06:18Half of it's going to be modern

0:06:18 > 0:06:22and the other half's going to be old vintage kind of style.

0:06:22 > 0:06:23What about lighting?

0:06:23 > 0:06:26Lighting, I was kind of thinking a disco wall kind of thing,

0:06:26 > 0:06:28with different lights.

0:06:28 > 0:06:31- Cool! Something like that?- Something along the lines of that.- Like it.

0:06:31 > 0:06:36Well, I've got to say, Nathan, I think this den already looks epic.

0:06:36 > 0:06:40Nathan's decided on an old-school diner look for his den

0:06:40 > 0:06:43with loads of equipment and funky disco lighting

0:06:43 > 0:06:45to add some spice to his baking.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51And we've got the perfect designer to make this den a masterpiece.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54Meet Olga.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57She's a specialist in creating mega-cool dens

0:06:57 > 0:07:01and can make the smallest of spaces look totally awesome.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07So, Nathan, Lauren and Mark told me

0:07:07 > 0:07:09- that you like the idea of a vintage kitchen.- Yeah, I do.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11I used to go to this restaurant

0:07:11 > 0:07:14and it had quite vintage seats and a vintage style

0:07:14 > 0:07:17and I really loved it and I kind of want to make that in my den.

0:07:17 > 0:07:21That's good, cos I've got something really big planned for you

0:07:21 > 0:07:23and it's being built in the workshop.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26It's going to be big, silver, vintage,

0:07:26 > 0:07:29with a big sign on the front saying "Nathan's Diner".

0:07:29 > 0:07:31- That sounds cool. - What do you reckon?

0:07:31 > 0:07:34Big, silver, shiny - awesome.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37Great! Your den's going to go in that corner.

0:07:37 > 0:07:39- What do you think?- Definitely.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43If you need a kitchen, we need to get electricity to your den.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45We need to clear the garage. What do you reckon?

0:07:45 > 0:07:47That's going to be fun!

0:07:47 > 0:07:50We need to clear the garage so the electrician can send a cable

0:07:50 > 0:07:54from the electricity supply in there and out to the den.

0:07:54 > 0:07:58This job is going to take some serious Dengineer graft.

0:07:58 > 0:08:01- Wow!- Oh, my goodness! Are you kidding?

0:08:01 > 0:08:03What has my dad been putting in here?

0:08:03 > 0:08:06Seriously! What has he been doing? This is outrageous.

0:08:09 > 0:08:12He's got, like, wallpaper from 1955 in here.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19We need some help to get this stuff cleared out.

0:08:19 > 0:08:22And the way I see it, Nathan's dads made this mess,

0:08:22 > 0:08:24so they can help out.

0:08:24 > 0:08:28A human conveyor belt. Oh, wow, that's actually heavy.

0:08:28 > 0:08:30How are you lifting that?

0:08:32 > 0:08:36- An African drum.- African drum? Ooh!

0:08:36 > 0:08:37With the dads' help,

0:08:37 > 0:08:41a space has been cleared in the garage in no time at all.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44And electrician Dan can finish the job

0:08:44 > 0:08:45of getting 50 metres of cabling

0:08:45 > 0:08:49from the garage and round the garden to the den.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51This cable can handle enough electricity

0:08:51 > 0:08:54to power an entire house.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57It is now time for us to get cracking on the den in the back garden.

0:08:57 > 0:09:01But for you guys, I'm afraid that means ship out.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04- Oh, no!- Go on - get out of here. Go on. Off you go.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06- Bye!- Out you go.- Go on.

0:09:06 > 0:09:10The next time Nathan's parents will see the garden again

0:09:10 > 0:09:11will be on the big reveal day.

0:09:11 > 0:09:13I think my dads are feeling quite nervous

0:09:13 > 0:09:15about me having full control of the garden,

0:09:15 > 0:09:18cos they don't have a clue what I'm going to do.

0:09:18 > 0:09:21Olga and the Dengineers have a serious job on their hands

0:09:21 > 0:09:24if they want to pull off the transformation of a lifetime

0:09:24 > 0:09:29and turn this space into a dream den fit for baking magic.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31Olga's big challenge with this design

0:09:31 > 0:09:36is to give Nathan a fully working kitchen, but in his back garden.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39Inspired by the ideas from Nathan's mood board,

0:09:39 > 0:09:42she plans to combine the look of an old-fashioned diner

0:09:42 > 0:09:44with cooking appliances and some awesome lighting,

0:09:44 > 0:09:47giving him a cool place to bake some amazing cakes

0:09:47 > 0:09:49for his friends and family.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53While the Dengineers start work in the garden,

0:09:53 > 0:09:56there's a superstar team working around the clock

0:09:56 > 0:09:59to build the main structure of Nathan's kitchen.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05That shiny structure is made of aluminium.

0:10:07 > 0:10:10Aluminium comes from the raw material bauxite,

0:10:10 > 0:10:14a clay-like soil found in a belt around the equator.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17And it's used to make things ranging from aeroplanes and trains

0:10:17 > 0:10:19to food and drink cans.

0:10:19 > 0:10:22These guys are using 40 metres of aluminium

0:10:22 > 0:10:24to make a vintage-looking pod

0:10:24 > 0:10:28where Nathan can cook and bake whenever he wants.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31Nathan's den is really starting to take shape,

0:10:31 > 0:10:33but if he's going to be a expert baker one day,

0:10:33 > 0:10:36I think it's time for him to learn some superstar skills

0:10:36 > 0:10:38to take his baking to the next level.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40And what better place to do this

0:10:40 > 0:10:44than the mega-popular Choccywoccydoodah in Brighton?

0:10:47 > 0:10:50- Look at this! - They are amazing. Look at them.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53Like, everything in here is just, like, pure chocolate.

0:10:53 > 0:10:54This is my dream shop.

0:10:54 > 0:10:58This place is home to some amazing cake creators

0:10:58 > 0:11:01and has celebrities queuing up for their expertise.

0:11:01 > 0:11:04And Nathan is going to get a lesson in cake sculpting

0:11:04 > 0:11:06from superstar designer Mike.

0:11:07 > 0:11:08This looks amazing.

0:11:08 > 0:11:12Just before we start, I'm just going to just check that one.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15- Check... Just... - And...- Yeah. Check that, check it.

0:11:15 > 0:11:16Yeah, it's fine.

0:11:16 > 0:11:18Sweets checked,

0:11:18 > 0:11:22now it's time to learn a really cool cake decoration trick from Mike.

0:11:22 > 0:11:26- So, you create a little hat like this.- A hat.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29- There, you see? And then move it to the edges.- Ahh!

0:11:29 > 0:11:33- And then into the edge.- Whoa! - You can be as messy as you like.

0:11:33 > 0:11:37- Let it all... - Ah, that looks so nice!

0:11:37 > 0:11:40Ahhh! I feel it's like a hypnotising chocolate.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42- It is, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:11:43 > 0:11:45Now it's Nathan's turn.

0:11:47 > 0:11:49- Yes!- Yes!

0:11:49 > 0:11:51- Oh, amazing.- That's it. Put a lot more on.- Go on.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53You can make it messy. It doesn't matter.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55- Is that enough? - Yeah, that's lovely.- Yes!

0:11:55 > 0:11:58- Here's the spoon.- Whoa! Right, you do it, cos I'm too scared.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00- You're sure? - Yeah, yeah, go on. I'll spin.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03Yeah? When she's spinning... That's it.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05- What happens if I spin it really fast?- OK!

0:12:05 > 0:12:08He can... Looks like he can deal with it.

0:12:08 > 0:12:09Yes!

0:12:09 > 0:12:11That is fun.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13- Yeah?- Whoa!

0:12:13 > 0:12:15I'm not being funny, Mike.

0:12:15 > 0:12:17- That's better than yours. - Honestly, that is brilliant.

0:12:17 > 0:12:22We've had a lot of people come in and not do anything as good as that.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24- That's fantastic.- Yes! - The kids are the best.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26- We are the best.- Yeah.- I knew it.

0:12:28 > 0:12:32Now, praise like that deserves a sweetie...or six.

0:12:35 > 0:12:36Aw, that's cool.

0:12:36 > 0:12:39Now we need to get some decorations on this bad boy.

0:12:43 > 0:12:44Whoops!

0:12:44 > 0:12:47One for the cake and one for me.

0:12:48 > 0:12:50It's looking good, guys.

0:12:50 > 0:12:55All that's left is to add loads and loads and loads and loads of sweets.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58- Yes!- Whoa, that looks cool.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00- Are you impressed? - I'm really impressed.

0:13:00 > 0:13:03So, has this given you lots of inspiration

0:13:03 > 0:13:04about how you'll use your den?

0:13:04 > 0:13:08Definitely. I'm going to make as many big cakes as possible.

0:13:08 > 0:13:09That sounds like a plan to me.

0:13:09 > 0:13:12Speaking of which, we've got to go and build a den.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14We do have to build a den. Just give me...

0:13:14 > 0:13:16No, you're coming. You're coming with me.

0:13:16 > 0:13:17- One second!- No.

0:13:17 > 0:13:19- Thanks, Mike.- No worries! - Cheers, Mike.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21My favourite part about today was making the cake,

0:13:21 > 0:13:25because I found it really fun, because it's very hands-on.

0:13:25 > 0:13:26I can't wait to get back to my den

0:13:26 > 0:13:28and use the new skills that I've learnt

0:13:28 > 0:13:30and I want to try out my new ideas.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37Back in Frinton-on-Sea,

0:13:37 > 0:13:41the structure of Nathan's den is about to arrive at his house.

0:13:41 > 0:13:42That looks cool.

0:13:42 > 0:13:45- That looks so cool.- Did you think it was going to be that big?

0:13:45 > 0:13:48- No. Nowhere near.- It's amazing!

0:13:48 > 0:13:51- Can you imagine yourself cooking in there?- Definitely.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55The den's made it in one piece, but there's a problem.

0:13:55 > 0:14:00How to get a 1.7-metre, 300-kilogram den

0:14:00 > 0:14:04into a garden surrounded by buildings and fences.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07Olga, Nathan and den-builder Peter waste no time

0:14:07 > 0:14:08in trying to find a solution.

0:14:08 > 0:14:13- Right, so this is the main entrance, then, to the garden?- Yeah.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15- But I think that may be a little too small.- OK.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17- Yeah.- Mm, I think you're right.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19That rules the front of the house out.

0:14:19 > 0:14:23- The garage is here, but it's got a single door.- Yeah.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25Cross the garage off the list, too.

0:14:25 > 0:14:27What about over the roof?

0:14:27 > 0:14:29It's not a very sturdy roof.

0:14:29 > 0:14:32- Not very sturdy roof.- Mm...

0:14:32 > 0:14:34This isn't looking good.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36What do you reckon, Peter?

0:14:36 > 0:14:38What about next door? Can we get through there?

0:14:38 > 0:14:40This looks quite promising.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48Well, it's the only way I can see of getting it in.

0:14:48 > 0:14:49- There isn't another way in.- Really?

0:14:49 > 0:14:52- But there are two gardens to come over.- No!

0:14:52 > 0:14:54- Yeah, have a look.- May I have a look?

0:14:55 > 0:14:57Oh, dear.

0:14:57 > 0:14:59There ARE two gardens.

0:14:59 > 0:15:02The good news is the team have found a way in for the den,

0:15:02 > 0:15:03but it's not going to be easy.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08The bad news - they'll have to lift a seriously heavy den

0:15:08 > 0:15:11over two gardens and three big fences.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14I've seen the fences and I've seen the den

0:15:14 > 0:15:16and I know how heavy it is, and I'm really worried.

0:15:16 > 0:15:19I don't want to say anything to Nathan.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21At the moment, I see big trouble.

0:15:23 > 0:15:26Before the team can attempt this Mission: Impossible,

0:15:26 > 0:15:28they need permission from Nathan's two neighbours

0:15:28 > 0:15:30to lift the den over their fences.

0:15:32 > 0:15:36And Olga and Nathan hope to get this through the power of...cake.

0:15:36 > 0:15:40- Wow!- Look at this! - That looks good.- Oh!

0:15:40 > 0:15:42- Man!- I think they're going to like that.

0:15:42 > 0:15:45Hello. We wondered if we could take my den through your garden?

0:15:45 > 0:15:47Yeah. That sounds good, that's fine.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50And thank you for that, and we've also brought some cake for you.

0:15:50 > 0:15:52- That's very kind. Thank you very much.- So, there you go.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54Thank you.

0:15:54 > 0:15:57- Thank you so much.- Thank you. - One neighbour down, one to go.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00I wondered if we could take my den through your garden.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03- Yeah, certainly.- Thank you. And I also made some cake for you.

0:16:03 > 0:16:05- Golly! I like the look of that. - So, there's your cake.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08Even if I'm on a diet, I'm going to eat that, yeah.

0:16:08 > 0:16:10- That looks really nice.- Thank you. - Thank you. So kind.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12Yes! The cake has done the trick.

0:16:12 > 0:16:16Now there's the small problem of lifting the den over the fences.

0:16:16 > 0:16:19And to do that, Olga's going to need a serious amount of help.

0:16:19 > 0:16:23I was just wondering. Would you be able to help us a bit?

0:16:23 > 0:16:27I was wondering maybe you have a few more people that can help lift?

0:16:27 > 0:16:28Well, I can help.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31- I've got two people that can come and help.- Yeah?

0:16:31 > 0:16:32- Let's go and grab them.- Amazing.

0:16:32 > 0:16:36Olga and the team have managed to pull together

0:16:36 > 0:16:38a legion of den-lifters.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42And now it's the moment of truth.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46The den is up.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!

0:16:48 > 0:16:50Just about.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53But can the team get it over the first fence?

0:17:01 > 0:17:04They've done it. But the next one is even bigger.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07One, two, three, up.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16We'll get round there.

0:17:16 > 0:17:20It's important that the team feed the den over the fence slowly

0:17:20 > 0:17:22so that they can gradually peel off from the back

0:17:22 > 0:17:26and round to the next garden to collect it coming over the fence.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29INDISTINCT CHATTER

0:17:29 > 0:17:31- I'm thinking we're going to do it. We're going to do it.- Yeah.

0:17:31 > 0:17:33And it's going to look awesome.

0:17:33 > 0:17:36Look, look. Another one is going. Another one's going.

0:17:36 > 0:17:38And we're through!

0:17:38 > 0:17:39Yes!

0:17:39 > 0:17:42The second fence is cleared, but there's still one to go

0:17:42 > 0:17:45and the team's arms are getting seriously tired.

0:17:45 > 0:17:49This den is as heavy as an adult grizzly bear.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52One slip and not only is the den going to fall and break,

0:17:52 > 0:17:54but someone could get really hurt.

0:17:54 > 0:17:57OK, how are we? Are you guys all right? You got it?

0:17:57 > 0:17:59Right, he's going. Yep.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04- Hold it there.- Nathan, come here.

0:18:09 > 0:18:13The den's made it into Nathan's back garden in one piece

0:18:13 > 0:18:17after heroic efforts by the Dengineers team.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19Oh, look at that. Nerve-racking.

0:18:21 > 0:18:24That's good, that's good.

0:18:24 > 0:18:26THEY CHEER

0:18:29 > 0:18:33With the den in place, the team work against the clock

0:18:33 > 0:18:36to get it kitted out with all the gear Nathan will need

0:18:36 > 0:18:37to become a baking genius.

0:18:38 > 0:18:43This is the last time Nathan will see his den before the big reveal.

0:18:45 > 0:18:49As night falls in Frinton, it's time for the Dengineers to down tools

0:18:49 > 0:18:53and get a good night's sleep, because there's still loads to do

0:18:53 > 0:18:56to get this den ready for the big reveal in just two days' time.

0:19:03 > 0:19:07Have you ever had a dessert that was so good, you were sad to see it end?

0:19:07 > 0:19:12I once had an Eccles cake that was so delicious, I almost wept.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14It's the edible bowl hack.

0:19:17 > 0:19:21Blow up some balloons. Melt some chocolate.

0:19:21 > 0:19:24Don't forget to ask for an adult's help if you need it.

0:19:24 > 0:19:28Make little circles on grease-proof paper.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31Dip the ends of the balloon into the melty chocolatey goodness

0:19:31 > 0:19:33and pop them on a plate.

0:19:33 > 0:19:37When they set, pop the balloons, and bingo!

0:19:37 > 0:19:39You've got yourself a bowl.

0:19:39 > 0:19:42Fill with your favourite treats and enjoy.

0:19:42 > 0:19:45This thing looks good enough to eat,

0:19:45 > 0:19:47because it is.

0:19:48 > 0:19:50- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55It's like Christmas!

0:19:55 > 0:19:57Back at the den, and Olga is ready

0:19:57 > 0:20:01to put Nathan's personalised logo onto the outside of the den.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03BOTH GASP

0:20:03 > 0:20:05But before she can do that,

0:20:05 > 0:20:07we need to take off the protective plastic coating.

0:20:07 > 0:20:12Unfortunately, one of the downsides of being 1.6 metres tall

0:20:12 > 0:20:15is that some areas are just out of reach.

0:20:15 > 0:20:18How are we going to get up there?

0:20:18 > 0:20:20Yep, we can do this.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23'Time to call in our tallest Dengineer, Andy,

0:20:23 > 0:20:25- 'to give me a much-needed boost.' Come here.- Hi, guys.

0:20:25 > 0:20:28I need you to be my human ladder.

0:20:28 > 0:20:31- Oh, right, OK. - Can I get on your shoulders?

0:20:31 > 0:20:33- Yeah, why not?- Yes! Ready?

0:20:35 > 0:20:37OK! Waargh!

0:20:37 > 0:20:39- There we go.- There we go.

0:20:39 > 0:20:40Easy!

0:20:41 > 0:20:44Don't drop me! Don't drop me, don't drop me.

0:20:44 > 0:20:47- Ahh!- There we go.- Yeah... Ahhh!

0:20:49 > 0:20:51Now with all the plastic off,

0:20:51 > 0:20:55the den is ready to be kitted out with Nathan's very own diner sign.

0:20:56 > 0:21:00With Nathan's den really taking shape, I catch up with his dads

0:21:00 > 0:21:03to find out why having this space will mean so much to him.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06How did Nathan come to live with you guys?

0:21:06 > 0:21:08Yeah, we started the adoption process

0:21:08 > 0:21:12and, you know, it was something we'd always wanted to do.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15It look a year or so to get through the process.

0:21:15 > 0:21:19And then Nathan sort of, yeah, came along after that,

0:21:19 > 0:21:22which was great, you know, and it's been four and a half years now.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24And, obviously, before, it was a very different life for him.

0:21:24 > 0:21:26Can you tell us a little bit about that?

0:21:26 > 0:21:30When he was young, he was kind of... much like the adult in the family.

0:21:30 > 0:21:33And he was the one making the tea, frying eggs at the age of four.

0:21:33 > 0:21:37I mean, he was always left to do things, try things out.

0:21:37 > 0:21:40Why does Nathan need this den?

0:21:40 > 0:21:43Well, he just wants his own space.

0:21:43 > 0:21:46He can start something, leave it, go back to it.

0:21:46 > 0:21:48When he's at home, you know, cooking, it's like,

0:21:48 > 0:21:51"Nathan, get it out of the way, cos we've got to do this now."

0:21:51 > 0:21:52So, at least now he can do things

0:21:52 > 0:21:56and he just needs that space that's his, you know.

0:21:56 > 0:21:59And in your opinion, how good is Nathan?

0:21:59 > 0:22:01He's definitely getting better.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04The last chocolate cake he made was just delicious.

0:22:04 > 0:22:07I haven't had a bit of that yet and I'm not happy about it!

0:22:07 > 0:22:10- Someone promised me cake.- OK! We'll make one soon.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19The big reveal is less than 24 hours away

0:22:19 > 0:22:23and the inside of the den is in need of some serious work

0:22:23 > 0:22:27to make sure Nathan has everything he needs to become an expert baker.

0:22:27 > 0:22:29And designer Olga has got an idea

0:22:29 > 0:22:33to give Nathan some storage space for all of his ingredients.

0:22:33 > 0:22:35So, I've got this idea for an upcycle for you,

0:22:35 > 0:22:40and we're going to use my absolute favourite material - a pallet.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42You can do anything you want with this.

0:22:42 > 0:22:44Today, we're going to make a rack for you.

0:22:44 > 0:22:47- What do you reckon to that? - Sounds quite cool.

0:22:47 > 0:22:49Pallets are usually used for transporting things,

0:22:49 > 0:22:52but today Dengineer Andy is cutting one down

0:22:52 > 0:22:54to create the base of the storage rack.

0:22:54 > 0:22:57Then it's Nathan's turn to get stuck in,

0:22:57 > 0:22:59sanding it down ready for painting.

0:23:00 > 0:23:02A bit squishy.

0:23:02 > 0:23:04Nathan starts by putting a layer of white paint on the wood.

0:23:04 > 0:23:06Then Andy steps in to teach Nathan

0:23:06 > 0:23:10a cool way of adding extra detail to the storage rack.

0:23:10 > 0:23:12So, what I've done is, I've masked it ready to paint

0:23:12 > 0:23:14and I've got a sponge.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17What we're going to do is put a bit of paint onto the sponge.

0:23:17 > 0:23:18- Yeah.- And just dab it on lightly,

0:23:18 > 0:23:22so we get a bit of a texture of the white sort of speckled through.

0:23:22 > 0:23:23That sounds cool.

0:23:25 > 0:23:28Wow, that actually looks really good.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30- Doesn't it look so good?- Yeah.

0:23:30 > 0:23:33This upcycle will help keep Nathan's den organised

0:23:33 > 0:23:36and create extra space for him to work on his cakes.

0:23:41 > 0:23:44The Dengineers team are making great progress with the den.

0:23:45 > 0:23:48But with the big reveal just hours away,

0:23:48 > 0:23:51the pressure is on to get everything done in time.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54What do you think? Not bad, not bad.

0:23:54 > 0:23:57I'm going to be seeing my den so soon.

0:23:57 > 0:24:00I just can't wait, cos I've only seen the outside of it,

0:24:00 > 0:24:02so the inside, I'm really...

0:24:02 > 0:24:05I'm kind of thinking maybe a kind of modern look.

0:24:05 > 0:24:08While Olga and Lauren race to get the inside finished,

0:24:08 > 0:24:11I help Nathan bake a cake for the big reveal.

0:24:11 > 0:24:15- I think we're quite a good team, Nathan, don't you?- Yeah.

0:24:15 > 0:24:17Then it's all hands on den for a quick polish.

0:24:19 > 0:24:22And after some serious elbow grease, Nathan's den is complete.

0:24:34 > 0:24:38This garden used to be a blank canvas, but not any more.

0:24:39 > 0:24:43Olga and the Dengineers have created a masterpiece of a den.

0:24:43 > 0:24:49And after 50 square metres of aluminium and a lot of hard graft,

0:24:49 > 0:24:53they've produced the perfect space for Nathan to hone his baking skills.

0:24:55 > 0:24:58But what will the main man himself think of the den?

0:24:58 > 0:25:00It's time to find out.

0:25:00 > 0:25:02- Nathan!- Yeah?

0:25:02 > 0:25:04- You can finally come out now.- OK.

0:25:05 > 0:25:08Whoa! That is amazing!

0:25:08 > 0:25:10- Wow!- Come and have a closer look.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13- Wow, that looks amazing. - What do you think?

0:25:13 > 0:25:16- It actually says "Nathan's Diner". - Cos it IS your diner.

0:25:16 > 0:25:19Wow, it's just amazing. I can't believe it.

0:25:19 > 0:25:23Looks like a normal den from the outside, nothing unusual per se.

0:25:23 > 0:25:25What's going to happen?

0:25:25 > 0:25:27THEY EXCLAIM

0:25:27 > 0:25:29Oh, wow, that looks amazing!

0:25:31 > 0:25:34Inspired by his love of all things vintage,

0:25:34 > 0:25:39Nathan's got a retro caravan which contains a fully working kitchen.

0:25:39 > 0:25:41- Oh, wow!- How cool...?

0:25:41 > 0:25:45- Oh, I've got my own Nathan's chef hat.- Go on, get it on.- Wow!

0:25:45 > 0:25:48If there's one thing you've got to do, it's try that hat on.

0:25:48 > 0:25:51- Oh, look!- Wow!- That suits you.

0:25:51 > 0:25:53As well as personal chef whites,

0:25:53 > 0:25:56Nathan's den has an oven and a hob for cooking,

0:25:56 > 0:26:01and loads of other equipment to help take his baking to the next level.

0:26:01 > 0:26:04- Grab that remote just there. - OK, yeah.

0:26:04 > 0:26:06- Press a few buttons and see what happens.- OK.

0:26:06 > 0:26:08- Wow! - THEY EXCLAIM

0:26:08 > 0:26:11- How cool's that? - Oh, I like this. Wow!

0:26:11 > 0:26:14You've got your sink there, so you're going to have to do the washing-up.

0:26:14 > 0:26:16That's kind of good.

0:26:16 > 0:26:20Did this live up to all your vintage diner dreams?

0:26:20 > 0:26:23Definitely. This den is done!

0:26:23 > 0:26:25- Yeah!- Yes! Love it.

0:26:25 > 0:26:29Nathan loves his den, but what will his parents think of it?

0:26:30 > 0:26:32Nathan's Diner!

0:26:33 > 0:26:35- Do you like it?- You're so lucky.

0:26:35 > 0:26:37What have you got in here? Can I come in here?

0:26:37 > 0:26:40- Yeah, you can actually go in there. - It's so brilliant!- Get in.

0:26:40 > 0:26:44- Is there room to sleep in there? - In you get. In you get.

0:26:44 > 0:26:49- You've got lights, microwave, cooking, oven.- Oh, my goodness!

0:26:49 > 0:26:52Well, I think my den is amazing.

0:26:52 > 0:26:54I actually did not dream it'd actually be that good.

0:26:54 > 0:26:58It's just 100% better that I thought it would be.

0:26:58 > 0:27:00Overall, what do you think of it?

0:27:00 > 0:27:04- A thousand out of ten.- Amazing. The cooking's all down to you now.

0:27:04 > 0:27:07- We'll have dinner out here every night.- Yeah.

0:27:07 > 0:27:08Yeah, you're the cook every night!

0:27:08 > 0:27:12As long as you buy all the ingredients, you can get a discount.

0:27:12 > 0:27:16'I just thought a shed in the corner of the garden.

0:27:16 > 0:27:17'And then I saw this'

0:27:17 > 0:27:20and it was just so different from what I imagined.

0:27:20 > 0:27:21It's brilliant.

0:27:21 > 0:27:25- MARK:- The den has gone down a treat with the whole family.

0:27:25 > 0:27:28Time for Nathan's Diner to open to the public.

0:27:28 > 0:27:29It's going to be a big slice.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32- Whoa, almost lost it. - Ooh, look at that!- Wow!
