0:00:36 > 0:00:38Hello!

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Amazing!

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Whoa!

0:00:52 > 0:00:53Ohhh!

0:00:53 > 0:00:56- Wow! - Oh, wow!

0:01:03 > 0:01:05Welcome to The Dengineers.

0:01:05 > 0:01:08Today, we're off to Huntingdon to surprise a boy who loves

0:01:08 > 0:01:10- all things trains. - He certainly does!

0:01:10 > 0:01:13I hope you're ready to work your socks off, cos this den is going to

0:01:13 > 0:01:16- take serious hard work. - I am raring to go.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Our Dengineer right now is on his way to a train amusement park

0:01:19 > 0:01:21that's not too far from here.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23Shall we go and give him the good news?

0:01:23 > 0:01:25Yeah, come on, hop on.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Sorry, do you actually know how to drive that thing?

0:01:27 > 0:01:29Er...

0:01:29 > 0:01:30Nah, not at all.

0:01:30 > 0:01:33Brilliant(!) I'll be taking the car.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37Yeah, good idea. Wait for me!

0:01:42 > 0:01:46Today's Dengineer is Ben from Huntingdon.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50He loves to play with his trains, and boy, does he have a lot of them.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52This is The Flying Scotsman.

0:01:52 > 0:01:55This is the Class 06.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57Number 3 is the Class 31.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00And it's not just trains that Ben loves,

0:02:00 > 0:02:05he's a master track builder and has big plans in the pipeline.

0:02:05 > 0:02:06I have a dream track

0:02:06 > 0:02:12and I'm saving up money that I have earned...and...

0:02:12 > 0:02:14birthday and Christmas money.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17But our Ben has got a problem.

0:02:17 > 0:02:21He shares his room with little sister Verity, and, unfortunately,

0:02:21 > 0:02:26that means his trains are in serious danger of total annihilation.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30What Ben needs is somewhere he can play with his trains.

0:02:32 > 0:02:36Well, it's a good job he asked the Dengineers for help, then.

0:02:36 > 0:02:37I really want it,

0:02:37 > 0:02:41because I want to be able to get my trains out permanently.

0:02:41 > 0:02:42It would mean a lot to me,

0:02:42 > 0:02:46and I'd probably be disappearing at every part of my spare time.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50This boy needs a den asap.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53And that's exactly what he's going to get.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55He just doesn't know it yet.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59It's obvious that Ben is in need of his own space,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01- so we'd better get this den on track.- Yep!

0:03:01 > 0:03:05Right now Ben is on his way to this amusement park with his mum and dad.

0:03:05 > 0:03:07And little does he know we're about to give him

0:03:07 > 0:03:08the surprise of a lifetime!

0:03:08 > 0:03:11- Come on, you, let's get hidden. - Yeah, come on.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13Where is she going?

0:03:17 > 0:03:20'We've got our hidden cameras set up all around the park,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22'waiting for the main man himself.

0:03:22 > 0:03:26'Mum and Dad are in on it, and Dad's being mic'd up for our big surprise.'

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Right, John, you're part of the team,

0:03:31 > 0:03:34- you're officially part of the Dengineers' crew.- Excellent!

0:03:34 > 0:03:35- Are you ready for this? - I am.

0:03:35 > 0:03:37I don't want to put any pressure on,

0:03:37 > 0:03:38but this is basically all on you, John.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Thanks for that. Appreciate it.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43You understand how important it is that Ben doesn't find out?

0:03:43 > 0:03:45- I do.- I think you'd better go and get him.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47- Will do. - Go, John.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49See you in a bit, mate.

0:03:49 > 0:03:54'Everything is set and bang on schedule. Here comes Ben.'

0:03:54 > 0:03:56He's there, he's there. Be quiet.

0:03:56 > 0:04:01He's going to come round there any second.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04We've got our producer up there, who's on the lookout.

0:04:04 > 0:04:05She's told us to move!

0:04:07 > 0:04:08Shhh!

0:04:09 > 0:04:11It looks like he's well into his trains. He's just

0:04:11 > 0:04:14- looking at them all. - This is so exciting!

0:04:17 > 0:04:19'And Ben has no idea what's about to happen.'

0:04:19 > 0:04:23- What can you hear?- They're over the bridge. They're over the other side.

0:04:23 > 0:04:26- The coast is clear.- Amazing. Shall we give them the big news?

0:04:26 > 0:04:28- Let's make it happen. - Let's go!

0:04:37 > 0:04:39Ready?

0:04:41 > 0:04:43Quick!

0:04:50 > 0:04:52Go on, ready. Let's go.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54- Fingers crossed. - Let's go.

0:05:00 > 0:05:03Hello, hello. We're looking for a fella called Ben.

0:05:03 > 0:05:07- That's me.- We know that you're train mad. Is that right?- Yes.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10And we know that you've got nowhere to actually play with your trains,

0:05:10 > 0:05:12- have you? - No.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14- Right. - So, Ben...

0:05:14 > 0:05:20- Yes?- ..you're in serious luck, cos we are from CBBC's The Dengineers and

0:05:20 > 0:05:25you're coming with us to help design and build your very own dream den.

0:05:25 > 0:05:28- How does that sound?- Yes, woo! - High five!

0:05:28 > 0:05:30Yes, high five! Hit me up top!

0:05:30 > 0:05:32How does that sound, Ben?

0:05:32 > 0:05:34- That is brilliant! - THEY LAUGH

0:05:34 > 0:05:36- Are you excited?- Yeah! - Mum, Dad, we'll see you later.

0:05:36 > 0:05:38- We're going to make this den happen. - Bye!

0:05:38 > 0:05:40- Come on Ben, let's go.- Let's go.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42'I was just having a look around'

0:05:42 > 0:05:46to see if I could recognise, um... any of the trains.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49Hello, hello. We're looking for a fella called Ben.

0:05:49 > 0:05:51Yeah?

0:05:51 > 0:05:52Very surprised!

0:05:52 > 0:05:54I wasn't at all expecting it.

0:05:54 > 0:06:00You're coming with us to help design and build your very own dream den.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03- How does that sound?- Yes, woo!

0:06:03 > 0:06:05Ben's reaction was brilliant, I was really pleased...

0:06:05 > 0:06:08- Yeah, his little face! - It was like, "Yes! Get in there!"

0:06:08 > 0:06:11And I think he's going to really, really like it!

0:06:11 > 0:06:14- A dream come true, isn't it?- Yeah! - A proper dream come true.

0:06:18 > 0:06:22- MARK:- Our first port of call is the Dengineers Mobile HQ,

0:06:22 > 0:06:26which has got some mega-cool technology to get this den on track.

0:06:26 > 0:06:28On here, we've got, like, loads of pictures

0:06:28 > 0:06:31to give us loads of inspiration. So shall we have a little look?

0:06:31 > 0:06:33- Yeah!- Let's go for it. Go on, Mark.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36Let's start with the colours. What kind of colours do you want?

0:06:36 > 0:06:38You know, like blues, whites, reds,

0:06:38 > 0:06:39something bright, or even black and white.

0:06:39 > 0:06:43- I think I quite like that... - This one, yeah?- Yeah.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46Brilliant! I know, what about a picture of your sister in the den?

0:06:46 > 0:06:48Cos she's going to be going in the den, isn't she?

0:06:48 > 0:06:50Er, not so much, no!

0:06:50 > 0:06:53What about, like, train stations? What do you think about that?

0:06:53 > 0:06:57- I think we saw an old train station. - There you go.- Yeah.

0:06:57 > 0:07:00- So do you like that kind of style? - Yeah.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02- Very old-fashioned-looking station, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:07:02 > 0:07:04Do you like the old-fashioned ones, or the modern ones?

0:07:04 > 0:07:07Old, because I was thinking more of a country...

0:07:07 > 0:07:10Mm, like we're in the middle of nowhere, in a little train station?

0:07:10 > 0:07:11Yeah.

0:07:11 > 0:07:15- So, guys, I think we've got it. What do you reckon?- Yes!

0:07:15 > 0:07:18Ben has set his mind on an old-fashioned, vintage look

0:07:18 > 0:07:21for his den, with retro graphics to make it a throwback

0:07:21 > 0:07:24to the old days of steam trains.

0:07:25 > 0:07:30And we've got just the fella to bring Ben's dream den to life!

0:07:30 > 0:07:34Meet Sege. He's been in the business for 36 years,

0:07:34 > 0:07:36and is an expert at creating amazing dens.

0:07:36 > 0:07:40He's the perfect designer to make the impossible possible.

0:07:44 > 0:07:46So, Sege, we are raring to go!

0:07:46 > 0:07:48Tell us about the ideas you've got up your sleeve.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50Well, Ben, we've designed for you

0:07:50 > 0:07:53- a beautiful railway station all of your own.- Brilliant.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56- Brilliant, yeah?- It's going to have a signal box on the front,

0:07:56 > 0:07:58so people will know if you're in or out.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00Also, Ben, we're going to put your own sign

0:08:00 > 0:08:04right across the front of it, so it's going to be Ben's Station.

0:08:04 > 0:08:05- Would you like that?- Yes.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08I'd be very interested to know how you play with your trains inside.

0:08:08 > 0:08:10You know, what... How are you going to set it up?

0:08:10 > 0:08:12I put it on a, um...

0:08:12 > 0:08:15a board that can come down from the ceiling.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18And then you walk around the board, tending to the train set,

0:08:18 > 0:08:20- is that what you do? - I'd come up in the middle.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23- You've got a good vision for this, Ben, I like it.- Definitely!

0:08:23 > 0:08:25- I've never done one of those before! - I love this.

0:08:25 > 0:08:27We've got one of the top designers in the country,

0:08:27 > 0:08:29but you've given him a brand-new idea - that's quite cool!

0:08:29 > 0:08:32Is there anything else we need to think about or are we ready to go?

0:08:32 > 0:08:33Well, you can't do anything

0:08:33 > 0:08:36- till we've got some electricity down here, I'm afraid.- Oh.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38There are lots of things in this den that need electricity,

0:08:38 > 0:08:41so we need to see if we can get it down pretty quick.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44If we can't, then I'm afraid it's game over!

0:08:44 > 0:08:46Ah. Right, we don't want that!

0:08:46 > 0:08:48Shall we go and find an expert to sort this out?

0:08:48 > 0:08:50- Let's do it.- Come on.- OK.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52This could be a massive problem for Ben's den,

0:08:52 > 0:08:56so the first thing to do is call in electrician David

0:08:56 > 0:08:59to see if it's possible to get power wired from the house

0:08:59 > 0:09:01and down to where the den will be.

0:09:01 > 0:09:03So, Dave, what is the situation with the lecky?

0:09:03 > 0:09:06- The situation's good and bad, unfortunately!- Oh.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08We've got good news that we can get it down there,

0:09:08 > 0:09:09but it's going to be a lot of work.

0:09:09 > 0:09:12We've got to remove fence panels and take up a lot of slabs

0:09:12 > 0:09:14- and stuff like that, so... - OK. All right.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16- What do you think about that, Ben? - Sounds good.

0:09:16 > 0:09:18- You reckons we'll be able to do it? - Yeah.- Yeah?- Yeah.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20Show me the muscles.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22Show me yours. Yeah, you've got better ones than me!

0:09:22 > 0:09:24- Come on, let's go and do it!- Yeah. - We've got work to do!

0:09:25 > 0:09:30The team need to send 55 metres of electrical cabling

0:09:30 > 0:09:32from the house down to the den.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34That's longer than an Olympic swimming pool.

0:09:34 > 0:09:37However, there are loads of fence panels and paving stones

0:09:37 > 0:09:41in the way, so it's up to Dad and the Dengineers to get stuck in.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44Ooh! Harder than it looks!

0:09:44 > 0:09:45Oh, I love this!

0:09:49 > 0:09:52'While me and Ben clear the fence panels...'

0:09:52 > 0:09:54Yes!

0:09:54 > 0:09:56'..Dad makes short work of the concrete slabs.

0:09:58 > 0:10:02'And it's not long until it's time for a digger to take centre stage.'

0:10:02 > 0:10:04Ay-ay-ay!

0:10:04 > 0:10:06I want to ride on that!

0:10:07 > 0:10:10'This bad boy wastes no time in digging a trench

0:10:10 > 0:10:13'down the side of the house and through the garden

0:10:13 > 0:10:17'so that Ben's den can get the power it needs to run his trains.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19'With the trench nearly done,

0:10:19 > 0:10:22'Dengineer Frank lets me finish the job.'

0:10:22 > 0:10:23Whoa! Whoa!

0:10:23 > 0:10:26Wahey! This is amazing! SHE LAUGHS

0:10:26 > 0:10:28Hey, look at this!

0:10:31 > 0:10:32Argh!

0:10:32 > 0:10:35Yes! Frank, look at that!

0:10:35 > 0:10:36Oh!

0:10:38 > 0:10:40And then to release it...

0:10:44 > 0:10:47BEN LAUGHS

0:10:47 > 0:10:48It's stuck!

0:10:48 > 0:10:52'I think I should leave it to the professionals!

0:10:52 > 0:10:54'Frank finishes the job

0:10:54 > 0:10:58'and the electricians can finally put down the cable for Ben's den.

0:10:58 > 0:11:01'And the last job of the day is to lay a concrete base

0:11:01 > 0:11:03'to support the den's weight.'

0:11:05 > 0:11:08So, Dad, thank you very much for your hard work this afternoon but -

0:11:08 > 0:11:10and I do mean this politely -

0:11:10 > 0:11:13it's time for you two to clear off out of here

0:11:13 > 0:11:15- because this is a Dengineers-only zone, so off you go.- OK.

0:11:15 > 0:11:17- Wave goodbye, Ben.- Bye!- Bye!

0:11:17 > 0:11:19- Come on, get out, Mum and Dad. Out you go!- Go! Shoo!

0:11:19 > 0:11:21Out you go! In there!

0:11:21 > 0:11:23'The next time Ben's family will see the garden

0:11:23 > 0:11:26'will be at the big reveal in just four days' time.'

0:11:28 > 0:11:31And that leaves little time for Sege and the Dengineers

0:11:31 > 0:11:33to work their magic on Ben's den.

0:11:34 > 0:11:36Inspired by Ben's ideas,

0:11:36 > 0:11:39Sege has designed an old-fashioned railway station

0:11:39 > 0:11:41with its very own sign and platform.

0:11:41 > 0:11:44On the inside, Ben will have a remote-controlled table

0:11:44 > 0:11:48that comes down from the roof for him to play with his trains.

0:11:48 > 0:11:51Add to this a control booth where Ben can operate his trains

0:11:51 > 0:11:53and you've got one brilliant den.

0:11:57 > 0:12:02It's day two of the build and Sege's team are on-site and raring to go.

0:12:02 > 0:12:03And they'll need to be,

0:12:03 > 0:12:08cos getting this den built in four days is going to be a massive job.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11And that job is about to get even bigger,

0:12:11 > 0:12:14thanks to good old Mother Nature.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17This is the worst possible news for designer Sege.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Sege, what stage are we at so far, then?

0:12:20 > 0:12:22Well, we've put the floor base in.

0:12:22 > 0:12:26We're trying to erect the walls and we need to get the roof on,

0:12:26 > 0:12:28- but, as you can see... - HE CHUCKLES

0:12:28 > 0:12:30- Yay(!)- It's really bad and this could hold us...

0:12:30 > 0:12:34- Typical English weather! - Typical English weather.- Exactly!

0:12:34 > 0:12:35How much of a problem is it?

0:12:35 > 0:12:38It's quite bad - it's coming on really heavily.

0:12:38 > 0:12:39We might have to wrap it up,

0:12:39 > 0:12:42which means it's going to put us behind.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46The team push on despite the wet conditions...

0:12:46 > 0:12:50but, as the weather worsens, Sege has got to make a tough decision.

0:12:52 > 0:12:55The weather's really, really coming down now.

0:12:55 > 0:12:58We've only managed to put in about two hours worth of work!

0:12:58 > 0:13:01We're going to have to leave it for today, I'm afraid.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05This is a disaster for Ben.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07And the team have to dismantle all the walls

0:13:07 > 0:13:09so they won't get ruined by the bad weather!

0:13:09 > 0:13:11I'm a bit worried that, in our grand plan,

0:13:11 > 0:13:13it might not make the deadline.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15We'll do everything we can to get there,

0:13:15 > 0:13:17but it could look very, very tight!

0:13:18 > 0:13:22- BEN:- I think it will definitely hold us back a bit.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25It means that we'll have to work even hard...harder tomorrow.

0:13:28 > 0:13:30With the build being stopped in its tracks,

0:13:30 > 0:13:32I reckon it's a good time for me and Ben

0:13:32 > 0:13:35to head out to learn more about the world of steam trains.

0:13:36 > 0:13:39So we've come to Nene Valley Railway in Peterborough.

0:13:41 > 0:13:42WHISTLE TOOTS

0:13:42 > 0:13:45Nene Valley Railway is based at Wansford Station

0:13:45 > 0:13:49and is home to four operational steam locomotives.

0:13:49 > 0:13:50Look, what's this?

0:13:52 > 0:13:55I think it's an engine from a diesel.

0:13:55 > 0:13:57- Probably.- How do you know that?!

0:13:59 > 0:14:02We're here to meet locomotive superintendent Paul Roe

0:14:02 > 0:14:05to find out what they're working on at the moment.

0:14:05 > 0:14:07This is our big workshop at the railway here.

0:14:07 > 0:14:08We've got the big boiler -

0:14:08 > 0:14:10this from a Battle of Britain class locomotive,

0:14:10 > 0:14:12and that boiler's been overhauled.

0:14:12 > 0:14:15And also, whilst in the shed, we've got our Thomas,

0:14:15 > 0:14:17which is having its overhaul as well.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19Hopefully, towards the end of this year,

0:14:19 > 0:14:20our Thomas will be back out in steam!

0:14:20 > 0:14:22You know what would be so good?

0:14:22 > 0:14:24- What?- If we got to ride on a train.

0:14:24 > 0:14:26- That would be brilliant. - Wouldn't it?

0:14:26 > 0:14:28Funny you should say that, because we've got a train over there

0:14:28 > 0:14:30with a steam engine on the front of it,

0:14:30 > 0:14:31but I've got two jobs I need doing.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34I need somebody to pull the signals that control the train

0:14:34 > 0:14:36- and tell it where to go! - I'll do that.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38Excellent. Well, I need you to do something as well,

0:14:38 > 0:14:41so you can come and I'll teach you how to drive the engine.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44Yes, Benny boy! Double act! That's something to tell our mates, innit?

0:14:44 > 0:14:45Definitely.

0:14:45 > 0:14:47WHISTLE TOOTS

0:14:47 > 0:14:49While the train gets all fired up,

0:14:49 > 0:14:52it's time for Ben to do a very important job

0:14:52 > 0:14:54and signal the train to go.

0:14:54 > 0:14:56Keep going, right through to the back, and the handle up.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59That's it, up there. It's ready to go now.

0:14:59 > 0:15:02STEAM HISSES

0:15:02 > 0:15:05Ooh! It's really powerful!

0:15:05 > 0:15:09'The train we're riding on today is a Hunslet saddle tank...'

0:15:09 > 0:15:10This thing is scary!

0:15:10 > 0:15:13'..and was built in Leeds in 1940.'

0:15:13 > 0:15:17That there is 1,500 degrees of heat

0:15:17 > 0:15:20and that's how this whole train runs!

0:15:20 > 0:15:24This train is powered by the steam that comes from this furnace,

0:15:24 > 0:15:28which reaches a temperature higher than that of volcanic lava!

0:15:28 > 0:15:31WHISTLE TOOTS REPEATEDLY

0:15:31 > 0:15:32That's for Benny boy!

0:15:35 > 0:15:40I haven't got a clue if he's doing any of the driving at all.

0:15:40 > 0:15:43So, if it is him, he's doing a very good job.

0:15:43 > 0:15:46Well done, Mark, you drove the train well there.

0:15:46 > 0:15:47Just got to stop it now.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49Wahey!

0:15:49 > 0:15:52Ben, it's been a great day but the weather's getting bad now -

0:15:52 > 0:15:53shall we make our way back?

0:15:53 > 0:15:56- Sorry, Mark. One-way ticket! - One-way ticket?!

0:15:56 > 0:15:58- Bye!- What do you mean? You can't leave me here!

0:15:58 > 0:16:00- WHISTLE TOOTS - Wait, no!

0:16:00 > 0:16:02I thought Dengineers stuck together.

0:16:02 > 0:16:05- No, sorry! Bye! - You're forgetting me? No!

0:16:05 > 0:16:08- Bye!- Hey! I can't believe it!

0:16:16 > 0:16:19Back at the den and, having lost a whole day to bad weather,

0:16:19 > 0:16:23it's really important for the team to get back on schedule.

0:16:23 > 0:16:25The rain has made a right mess,

0:16:25 > 0:16:28and so the first job is a spot of cleaning.

0:16:28 > 0:16:32- That's coming off well, isn't it? - Yeah.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34As the sun finally comes out,

0:16:34 > 0:16:37the Dengineers work double time to get back on track.

0:16:38 > 0:16:40The den walls are erected.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42Again.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44And the roof goes on.

0:16:46 > 0:16:49And Ben helps Sege with the platform floor.

0:16:49 > 0:16:52Excellent! Excellent!

0:16:52 > 0:16:54All this graft is hungry work,

0:16:54 > 0:16:58and Sege seems to have a taste for the sweeter things in life...

0:17:01 > 0:17:04..or chocolate brownies, to be more precise.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08'I don't know how many chocolate brownies I've had today,'

0:17:08 > 0:17:11but I've loved every single one of them.

0:17:11 > 0:17:13They've been delicious!

0:17:13 > 0:17:15HE CACKLES

0:17:19 > 0:17:20As the day comes to an end,

0:17:20 > 0:17:23the Dengineers have worked their socks off,

0:17:23 > 0:17:25and the team are in a positive mood.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27We were very worried at the start of the day

0:17:27 > 0:17:29because we thought we were going to get more rain,

0:17:29 > 0:17:31it was going to hold us up even further,

0:17:31 > 0:17:34but we've really cracked on. Today's been brilliant.

0:17:34 > 0:17:36It's gone really well.

0:17:36 > 0:17:42I think we've managed to catch up and we've managed to skip the rain.

0:17:44 > 0:17:47This is the last time Ben will see his den before the big reveal

0:17:47 > 0:17:49and there's still loads to do.

0:17:57 > 0:18:01Hey, you and you and you and...

0:18:01 > 0:18:03probably not you!

0:18:03 > 0:18:07Have you ever had loads of stuff but nowhere to put that stuff?

0:18:07 > 0:18:10Of course you have. Who doesn't?

0:18:10 > 0:18:13It's the cereal box storage hack!

0:18:13 > 0:18:17Just take a few cereal boxes and eat the contents.

0:18:17 > 0:18:20Then grab some wrapping paper.

0:18:20 > 0:18:24Cut the ends off the boxes, keeping the lengths the same.

0:18:24 > 0:18:27Flatten them out and get wrapping.

0:18:27 > 0:18:31Put the boxes back together and put all your bits in.

0:18:31 > 0:18:32Goodbye, clutter.

0:18:32 > 0:18:35Hello to a world of organised tidiness!

0:18:42 > 0:18:46Back at the build, it's the final day before the big reveal.

0:18:46 > 0:18:48Sege, what stage are we at?

0:18:48 > 0:18:49Well, there's still a lot to do.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51All hands on deck for the last day.

0:18:51 > 0:18:53We've got a lot of painting to do outside still,

0:18:53 > 0:18:56we've got some doors to hang, we've got the floor to finish.

0:18:56 > 0:18:59One of the most important jobs, though, is the train set table,

0:18:59 > 0:19:02and you and Ben could help me paint that, if you would, please,

0:19:02 > 0:19:04if you're not doing anything - not too busy, are you?

0:19:04 > 0:19:06- No, not too busy.- No. - I suppose I could help out.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08So, yeah, I'll spare my time for you.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13'This is the crucial part of the den,

0:19:13 > 0:19:16'and the team can't afford any mistakes.'

0:19:16 > 0:19:18Argh!

0:19:18 > 0:19:20Look what I just did!

0:19:20 > 0:19:21HE LAUGHS

0:19:21 > 0:19:24I feel like mine's not as neat as yours.

0:19:24 > 0:19:25How are you doing that so well?

0:19:25 > 0:19:27I've had practise.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30'While Ben continues his expert paint job,

0:19:30 > 0:19:31'I catch up with Mum and Dad

0:19:31 > 0:19:35'to find out more about why Ben needs this awesome den.'

0:19:35 > 0:19:38How difficult is it for him to play with his trains?

0:19:38 > 0:19:39It's really hard for him,

0:19:39 > 0:19:42because we've only actually got two bedrooms upstairs,

0:19:42 > 0:19:43so both Ben and Verity have to share

0:19:43 > 0:19:46and, for Ben, I think what's particularly hard

0:19:46 > 0:19:49is that it was his bedroom for quite a long time, on his own,

0:19:49 > 0:19:51and it's not unusual for The Flying Scotsman

0:19:51 > 0:19:53to go racing past a baby doll or a pony or...

0:19:53 > 0:19:54SHE LAUGHS

0:19:54 > 0:19:57..or what-have-you, because Verity's things...

0:19:57 > 0:19:59- A massively out of scale pony at that!- Yeah!

0:19:59 > 0:20:02THEY LAUGH A giant pony on the train track!

0:20:02 > 0:20:04Unicorns are particularly hazardous.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11- MARK:- Back in the garden, and the Dengineers are working hard

0:20:11 > 0:20:14to get the den finished in time for the big reveal.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17And Sege has come up with a cool upcycle for Ben's den

0:20:17 > 0:20:20using two old walkie-talkies and some spare bits of wood.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27- What we're going to do is take this radio set, OK?- Yeah.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30With its little sort of speaker terminal if you like,

0:20:30 > 0:20:32and we're going to make you a really cool box

0:20:32 > 0:20:36that's sort of a bit old-fashioned but matches the den.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42This upcycle will mean that Ben can communicate with the house

0:20:42 > 0:20:43whenever he's in the den.

0:20:46 > 0:20:49It's like a postbox!

0:20:49 > 0:20:50Perfect!

0:20:50 > 0:20:52Ben helps to drill in some wooden discs,

0:20:52 > 0:20:55which will eventually look like old-fashioned dials.

0:20:59 > 0:21:03And Pete finishes it off by adding some hinges for the terminal door.

0:21:06 > 0:21:09The next time Ben will see this communications terminal,

0:21:09 > 0:21:12it'll have two old walkie-talkies in it

0:21:12 > 0:21:14and it will be on the wall of his den.

0:21:14 > 0:21:16So, Sege, we're getting close to the reveal of the den.

0:21:16 > 0:21:18- How's it going?- Well, Lauren, it's going really well.

0:21:18 > 0:21:20I'm still worried about the train set table.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22We haven't got that installed yet.

0:21:22 > 0:21:25Just waiting for the electrician to finish off a few bits

0:21:25 > 0:21:28and then, hopefully, all's going to go well when we start to fitting it.

0:21:28 > 0:21:31So I'm guessing, without that, we're in trouble, really, aren't we?

0:21:31 > 0:21:33Because that's the point of the den.

0:21:33 > 0:21:36Well, that's it. Without that, there's no train station den.

0:21:36 > 0:21:39No pressure, then. No pressure whatsoever(!)

0:21:39 > 0:21:42Electrician Paul is fitting a consumer unit into the den,

0:21:42 > 0:21:45which will feed electricity to the lights, Ben's trains

0:21:45 > 0:21:49and, most importantly, the hoist that will operate his table.

0:21:49 > 0:21:53The hoist will be able to lift 200kg.

0:21:53 > 0:21:56That's the weight of three average dads!

0:21:57 > 0:22:00So it shouldn't have any problem with a wooden table

0:22:00 > 0:22:02with a few trains on.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04No, it won't go in, just need a bit more...

0:22:04 > 0:22:06But there is a problem.

0:22:06 > 0:22:08There's always one little thing!

0:22:09 > 0:22:13Sege is worried that the consumer unit is sticking out too far

0:22:13 > 0:22:15and that the train table won't be able to pass it

0:22:15 > 0:22:17when it comes down from the roof.

0:22:17 > 0:22:20I don't mind what it looks like - it's got to work!

0:22:20 > 0:22:22The box has already been fitted to the wall

0:22:22 > 0:22:25so there's nothing that Sege can do.

0:22:25 > 0:22:28If the table doesn't pass the box, it's a disaster for Ben's den.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31HOIST WHIRRS

0:22:32 > 0:22:35This is the moment of truth.

0:22:35 > 0:22:37Misses it!

0:22:37 > 0:22:39Look at that - missed it perfectly...

0:22:39 > 0:22:42Actually, it's a perfect fit. See?

0:22:42 > 0:22:45- That's how lucky he is!- Yeah!

0:22:45 > 0:22:48When we got the hoist working and the table went up

0:22:48 > 0:22:54for the first time and it just missed, I was absolutely elated!

0:22:54 > 0:22:56It was almost like my favourite football team

0:22:56 > 0:22:58winning the FA Cup, it was that good.

0:22:58 > 0:23:01Really. Believe you me, it was that good!

0:23:02 > 0:23:05And that was a close one, but there's no time to celebrate

0:23:05 > 0:23:08because it's all hands to the pump to get this den finished.

0:23:13 > 0:23:14Is that level?

0:23:15 > 0:23:23I think I'm most excited about how the interior's going to turn out!

0:23:28 > 0:23:32After a monumental effort, the den is complete.

0:23:43 > 0:23:47This garden used to be an empty space.

0:23:47 > 0:23:49But not any more.

0:23:51 > 0:23:54Sege and the Dengineers have created one epic den.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58It's taken 55 metres of electrical cabling...

0:24:00 > 0:24:05..over 90 metres of timber and 15 litres of paint

0:24:05 > 0:24:07to construct an awesome den

0:24:07 > 0:24:10where Ben can play with his trains whenever he wants.

0:24:10 > 0:24:12Ben, out you come!

0:24:13 > 0:24:16'But what will he think of it?'

0:24:17 > 0:24:20Oh!

0:24:20 > 0:24:22Oh...my gosh!

0:24:24 > 0:24:27- What do you reckon, Ben?- This is...

0:24:27 > 0:24:30better than I was expecting. This is brilliant!

0:24:30 > 0:24:32What do you think about the sign up there? What does that say?

0:24:32 > 0:24:36Ben's Station. It looks excellent!

0:24:36 > 0:24:37- Cool, right?- Yeah.

0:24:37 > 0:24:40- You can't stop smiling, I love it! - LAUREN LAUGHS

0:24:43 > 0:24:46Inspired by Ben's love of steam trains,

0:24:46 > 0:24:50this vintage railway station den has a traditional platform,

0:24:50 > 0:24:51customised signs,

0:24:51 > 0:24:54and even has a railway signal light

0:24:54 > 0:24:57to show his friends and family when he's in the den.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00And, on the inside, things get even better.

0:25:01 > 0:25:03- In you go.- Get in there!

0:25:03 > 0:25:05Oh, wow!

0:25:07 > 0:25:10- You know that thing that you're touching now?- Yeah?

0:25:10 > 0:25:13- That goes up and down on that cable. - Brilliant!

0:25:13 > 0:25:16That can lower now, Ben, and you can play with your trains.

0:25:16 > 0:25:20Ben wanted a table that comes down from the ceiling

0:25:20 > 0:25:23to race his trains on, and Sege has delivered big time.

0:25:24 > 0:25:28Not just that, but there's a souvenir from his Den Day Out...

0:25:29 > 0:25:31..and his very own communications terminal,

0:25:31 > 0:25:34so he can talk to the house whenever he wants.

0:25:37 > 0:25:40And there's one last thing to give to Ben.

0:25:40 > 0:25:43Do you remember when you said you would love your dream train track?

0:25:43 > 0:25:44Yeah.

0:25:44 > 0:25:46- It sounded quite cool, didn't it? - Yeah.

0:25:46 > 0:25:48- Because... - # Da-daa! #

0:25:48 > 0:25:51..we've got a little surprise for you!

0:25:51 > 0:25:52Have a look at that

0:25:54 > 0:25:56HE GASPS

0:25:56 > 0:25:59- How is that, Ben?- Oh, my goodness!

0:25:59 > 0:26:03This den is not done until you have set that up!

0:26:03 > 0:26:04Get cracking!

0:26:04 > 0:26:05I shall!

0:26:08 > 0:26:12Ben's got all the pieces he needs for his dream railway creation

0:26:12 > 0:26:15and, after some super-speedy track laying,

0:26:15 > 0:26:18it's time for Ben to sign off the team's hard work.

0:26:18 > 0:26:21This den...is done!

0:26:21 > 0:26:23- Yeah!- Yes, love it!

0:26:23 > 0:26:25We've got to do one more thing -

0:26:25 > 0:26:27- get your mum, dad and Verity down here, yeah?- Yeah.

0:26:27 > 0:26:29And there is only one way to do it.

0:26:29 > 0:26:31Go on, call them in!

0:26:31 > 0:26:34Here we go. It's getting used for the first time.

0:26:34 > 0:26:35Mum, Dad, Verity...

0:26:35 > 0:26:37- OVER WALKIE-TALKIE: - '..you can come down now!'

0:26:37 > 0:26:39We're coming!

0:26:39 > 0:26:41OK! See you in a minute!

0:26:42 > 0:26:46Ben's family haven't seen the garden since it was an empty space.

0:26:46 > 0:26:50What will they think of Ben and the Dengineers' work?

0:26:50 > 0:26:53- MUM GASPS LAUGHING:- It's gorgeous.

0:26:54 > 0:26:56That is properly cool!

0:26:56 > 0:26:59What do you reckon of the outside?

0:26:59 > 0:27:01- MUM:- It's amazing! - That is cool!

0:27:01 > 0:27:03- I love it! I love it! - THEY ALL LAUGH

0:27:03 > 0:27:05And was it what you were expecting?

0:27:05 > 0:27:06No, I was expecting a shed!

0:27:06 > 0:27:08I was expecting a shed, I really was!

0:27:08 > 0:27:10- We do better than a shed here on Dengineers!- Yeah!

0:27:10 > 0:27:12Much better than a shed! That is so cool.
