0:02:45 > 0:02:47This place is vital to the community,

0:02:47 > 0:02:50and although it's used by hundreds of children every week,

0:02:50 > 0:02:53the outside space is in desperate need of work,

0:04:49 > 0:04:51As much as it's been exciting, it's been nerve-racking,

0:04:51 > 0:04:53cos it's just one little slip-up

0:04:53 > 0:04:55and then that can just blow the whole thing.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57THEY SHOUT OUT

0:05:08 > 0:05:11which has some mega-cool technology to get this den on track.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15And it's Aisha and Abdul

0:05:15 > 0:05:18who are going to be representing the whole group.

0:05:18 > 0:05:19Welcome to the Dengineers mobile HQ.

0:05:19 > 0:05:21This is where we're going to download

0:05:21 > 0:05:24all of the ideas that you've got in your head

0:05:24 > 0:05:25onto this fancy old computer

0:05:25 > 0:05:28so we can start putting together some ideas for your den.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30- Are you up for it? - BOTH:- Yeah.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32Let's go for it. What's the initial idea?

0:05:32 > 0:05:36To make the den, like, more sporty and bright colours.

0:05:36 > 0:05:40Dive in, find some pictures you think represents that idea.

0:05:40 > 0:05:43- I like the tennis.- Tennis, nice.

0:05:43 > 0:05:45Why have you chosen that, Abdul?

0:05:45 > 0:05:48I like it cos they zoom into the foot

0:05:48 > 0:05:50and the ball is like they're going to take the perfect free kick.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52- And you love football.- Yeah.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54I think we should have a running track

0:05:54 > 0:05:57because, like, loads of people like running, relay and cross-country.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59That's a really cool thing, cos it's really inclusive.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02- Everyone can join in, can't they? - Yeah.- Which is really cool.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05- It doesn't really matter if you're good or bad at it.- Absolutely.

0:06:05 > 0:06:06- Everyone can run.- Perfect.

0:06:06 > 0:06:10- On the walls, we might have some rock climbing gear.- Yeah.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13- That would be cool.- Like that one.

0:06:13 > 0:06:14- Nice.- I like that.

0:06:14 > 0:06:19I like this one, because it shows all the sports that we can play.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21- Good idea.- Yeah. - That sums the den, doesn't it?

0:06:21 > 0:06:22Little bit of everything, isn't it?

0:06:22 > 0:06:24And we'll pick this picture,

0:06:24 > 0:06:26because it's a nice place where you can hang out,

0:06:26 > 0:06:29and there's loads of street art that people really like.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31- I really like it.- There's going to be quite a lot of hard work,

0:06:31 > 0:06:34because we're not just making a den for one person.

0:06:34 > 0:06:36We're making it for loads of people.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40This mood board is a sports lover's dream

0:06:40 > 0:06:43as well as being cool and colourful.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46This den is going to be quite a challenge.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51And we've got just the designer for the job.

0:06:53 > 0:06:55Meet Sege,

0:06:55 > 0:06:59a creative genius with over 30 years in the building biz.

0:06:59 > 0:07:03He knows how to nail a massive project just like this one.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07- Sege, how are you?- Mark, very well. How are you?- Nice to see you.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10- Meet the guys.- Hiya. Hiya, chaps. - ALL:- Hi.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Now, this is Sege. He is the den-building machine.

0:07:14 > 0:07:16He's going to make this den incredible.

0:07:16 > 0:07:18Tell them what's going to happen here, Sege.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21There's loads and loads, Mark. I know all the things that you want.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24We've got stuff for you to climb on, stuff for you to play sports on.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27- Ohh!- We've got... Oh, we have, yeah.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30We've got some fantastic stuff for you to play sports on.

0:07:30 > 0:07:32We've got a stage, we've got a chill-out area backstage,

0:07:32 > 0:07:34which is really, really cool as well,

0:07:34 > 0:07:36where you can do lots of performing on.

0:07:36 > 0:07:37We've got a great running track

0:07:37 > 0:07:39which is going to test your sprinting,

0:07:39 > 0:07:41and we've got a fantastic pitch.

0:07:41 > 0:07:43- Are you excited? ALL:- Yeah!

0:07:43 > 0:07:45- Do you like Sege's ideas?- Yeah!

0:07:45 > 0:07:48- Are we ready to build it?- I think we are, yeah.- Come on, let's go.

0:07:48 > 0:07:49Let's get going.

0:07:49 > 0:07:54Sege has designed the den to sweep around the whole community centre.

0:07:54 > 0:07:58There'll be a multi-use sports pitch and a 25-metre running track

0:07:58 > 0:08:02with a huge climbing commentary tower at one end.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05There'll also be a performance stage with a cool backstage area

0:08:05 > 0:08:08and some other surprises along the way, too.

0:08:10 > 0:08:14It's time for the Dengineers to get stuck into the groundworks.

0:08:15 > 0:08:17First, they need to move the container

0:08:17 > 0:08:19to the other side of the site.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28Then they can dig up the ground where the running track will go...

0:08:30 > 0:08:32..so they can put a layer of cement down

0:08:32 > 0:08:35which the track will eventually sit on top of.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39They're also digging a massive hole

0:08:39 > 0:08:43for the sunken trampoline to go into...

0:08:43 > 0:08:47and preparing the ground for the stage and climbing tower.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50It's been a totally action-packed start for the den,

0:08:50 > 0:08:52and with the groundworks almost complete,

0:08:52 > 0:08:57it's time to make this incredibly messy site "Dengineers only".

0:09:01 > 0:09:04Are you confident the Dengineers are going to make this happen?

0:09:04 > 0:09:06- ALL:- Ooooh!- No!

0:09:06 > 0:09:09No confidence whatsoever? Are YOU confident it's going to happen?

0:09:09 > 0:09:12- ALL:- Yeah!

0:09:12 > 0:09:14- Right, you see this sign?- Yeah. - Dengineers only.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17That means you lot have got to shoo.

0:09:17 > 0:09:20So take one last look and then sling your hook.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22- What?!- All right?

0:09:22 > 0:09:24Off you go. Dengineers only now. THEY ALL TALK AT ONCE

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Get off. Go on.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29- KIDS CHANT:- Only Dengineers! Only Dengineers!

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Only Dengineers! Only Dengineers!

0:09:32 > 0:09:34Only Dengineers!

0:09:36 > 0:09:38Now we've got rid of the adults,

0:09:38 > 0:09:40it's time for the Dengineers to properly take over

0:09:40 > 0:09:44and for the real fun to begin.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47This den is going to be huge, and to get it done in time,

0:09:47 > 0:09:50the team are really going to have to crack on.

0:09:50 > 0:09:51There's so much going on today

0:09:51 > 0:09:54that I'm going to be making sure that everybody,

0:09:54 > 0:09:56all the Dengineers, are hard at work,

0:09:56 > 0:09:59because it's so important that everybody is working.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05What have you done to her back?

0:10:05 > 0:10:07- Aisha!- Turn round a minute.

0:10:07 > 0:10:08Look at this.

0:10:10 > 0:10:11What?!

0:10:11 > 0:10:13You know when you put it in the pot? Don't just let it drip.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16You're going to have to just brush it off the side like that.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18Today is all about the stage.

0:10:18 > 0:10:20To stay on track,

0:10:20 > 0:10:23the team need to get the base in, the walls up and the roof on

0:10:23 > 0:10:25all by the end of the day.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28The stage is progressing really, really well.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30At the moment, the weather's holding us up a little bit.

0:10:30 > 0:10:33It's really causing a bit of a problem.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36We're going to have to try and get used to it and get round it,

0:10:36 > 0:10:38which we are doing, but all's good.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40And while the team push on,

0:10:40 > 0:10:43I'm going to have a chat with adult helpers Majid and Karis.

0:10:43 > 0:10:47I wanted to talk about the community centre first of all.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49What's it like around here?

0:10:49 > 0:10:52Well, before we were offering our services,

0:10:52 > 0:10:54you know, crime was pretty high,

0:10:54 > 0:10:56antisocial behaviour was really high,

0:10:56 > 0:10:58so within the first three years of setting up,

0:10:58 > 0:11:02we reduced antisocial behaviour by 73%.

0:11:02 > 0:11:06- 73%? That's almost three quarters it's come down?- Yeah.

0:11:06 > 0:11:07There wasn't much going on for young people.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10There were no sort of like purpose youth centres

0:11:10 > 0:11:13or community centres or sports centres around the community,

0:11:13 > 0:11:16so young people just hanging on the streets, hanging in the park.

0:11:16 > 0:11:20We provide open access youth clubs, play schemes,

0:11:20 > 0:11:23after-school clubs and a lot of sports programmes.

0:11:23 > 0:11:26You're literally taking these people who had nowhere better to go,

0:11:26 > 0:11:28bringing them into the heart of the community

0:11:28 > 0:11:32and making everyone sort of feel like a bit more of a family.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34Yeah, everybody knows each other, everyone's safe,

0:11:34 > 0:11:36- and they all play together nicer. - Yeah.

0:11:36 > 0:11:37So, finally,

0:11:37 > 0:11:40what difference do you think this den is going to make to the guys?

0:11:40 > 0:11:43Oh, it's going to make such a massive difference.

0:11:43 > 0:11:44It's going to be amazing.

0:11:44 > 0:11:46I'm sure the young people are going to be over the moon.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48They're going to be so excited.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50I think, from the little bit we've seen from far away,

0:11:50 > 0:11:53you know, the whole building's been transformed.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56Seen so many things going in, I think it's going to be amazing.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58They're going to love it.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03It's been a tough day for our Dengineers,

0:12:03 > 0:12:05and as they push to get done what they need to

0:12:05 > 0:12:07before they can go home,

0:12:07 > 0:12:09classic Wrighty wants to embrace the sports theme

0:12:09 > 0:12:12with a keepy-uppy challenge.

0:12:12 > 0:12:13Here we go, right. Here's for a ten.

0:12:13 > 0:12:15One, two, three, four...

0:12:15 > 0:12:17Oh, it's gone over the fence!

0:12:17 > 0:12:20- It's not rugby. - I know, mate. I know.

0:12:20 > 0:12:22What about we get one of the Dengineers in?

0:12:22 > 0:12:25Simon, give me that. In you go.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28Are you ready? Are you ready for this?

0:12:28 > 0:12:31I'm ready. Let me just get this shot. Hang on. Hang on.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33One, two, three, four, five...

0:12:33 > 0:12:36Six. Ohh!

0:12:36 > 0:12:37Not bad from old Simon.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47..7, 8, 9, 10,

0:12:47 > 0:12:4911, 12, 13, 14,

0:12:49 > 0:12:5315, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20,

0:12:53 > 0:12:5521, 22...

0:12:55 > 0:12:57No! That's a cheat!

0:12:57 > 0:13:00- The ball! I got the ball. - That's a cheat!

0:13:06 > 0:13:08It's the start of a new day.

0:13:08 > 0:13:11You just want it to move that way slightly, towards Greg.

0:13:11 > 0:13:15And Sege and the team really need to get going with the commentary tower.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18This morning, we're building the log climb commentary tower,

0:13:18 > 0:13:21which is becoming a bit of a feat, to say the least.

0:13:21 > 0:13:24We're all sort of struggling. They're heavy logs.

0:13:24 > 0:13:25A lot of puffing and panting.

0:13:25 > 0:13:27So we're starting to build the main structure,

0:13:27 > 0:13:30and it's looking very, very good, very interesting.

0:13:30 > 0:13:34The structure is made out of spruce tree logs,

0:13:34 > 0:13:38and the biggest ones weigh around 180kg.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40The positioning of the logs is crucial,

0:13:40 > 0:13:43and it's going to take some major concentration from the team.

0:13:45 > 0:13:47While the commentary tower continues skywards,

0:13:47 > 0:13:49it's time for an upcycle.

0:13:54 > 0:13:56OK, guys, see this ugly old container?

0:13:56 > 0:13:59All the paint's peeling off it and it looks a bit tatty, doesn't it?

0:13:59 > 0:14:03Well, this is going to be our cool upcycle project, OK?

0:14:03 > 0:14:05So what we're going to do is, we're going to sand it down,

0:14:05 > 0:14:08get all these ugly bits off, and then we're going to redecorate it

0:14:08 > 0:14:11so it looks really smart and new for your new den.

0:14:11 > 0:14:12Let's get sanding!

0:14:12 > 0:14:16This container is used by the centre for storage,

0:14:16 > 0:14:19so it'll be great for the team to get it looking super fly

0:14:19 > 0:14:22and in keeping with the rest of the den.

0:14:22 > 0:14:25Oh, that looks like good, hard work from you all.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29Once all the rust and peeling paint has been sanded off,

0:14:29 > 0:14:31the painting team can move in

0:14:33 > 0:14:35they've brought in the A team. That's us.

0:14:35 > 0:14:37Guys, give our camera a wave.

0:14:41 > 0:14:43With the container now a blank canvas,

0:14:43 > 0:14:47it's ready for Dengineer artist Paul to finish off later

0:14:47 > 0:14:48with some cool artwork.

0:14:51 > 0:14:54And while the team carry on with the build,

0:14:54 > 0:14:57I've brought our young Dengineers for a super sporty treat

0:14:57 > 0:14:59to the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.

0:15:01 > 0:15:05It's the official training track for Team GB.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Come on, Mark. Faster!

0:15:07 > 0:15:10And it's where many of the team's medal-winning

0:15:10 > 0:15:13Olympic and Paralympic cyclists train.

0:15:13 > 0:15:16- Hello, guys. ALL:- Hello!

0:15:18 > 0:15:20But before these guys can get on the track,

0:15:20 > 0:15:24they're going to have some tuition from bike expert Lisa.

0:15:25 > 0:15:28The first thing we're going to do is you're going to practise

0:15:28 > 0:15:31starting and stopping.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33Wow, that was super.

0:15:33 > 0:15:37These are special racing bikes designed for velodrome cycling.

0:15:37 > 0:15:41Unlike normal bikes, their feet are clipped into the pedals,

0:15:41 > 0:15:44meaning they can't put them down when they start and stop,

0:15:44 > 0:15:46so they have to use the rail.

0:15:46 > 0:15:47Pedal, pedal, pedal!

0:15:47 > 0:15:50Normally when I'm on a bike, I normally put my feet down to stop

0:15:50 > 0:15:53or press the brakes, but on this bike, it had no brakes

0:15:53 > 0:15:57and your feet were attached to the pedals, so it was harder to stop.

0:15:59 > 0:16:01Oh, are you all right?

0:16:02 > 0:16:05Slow right down. Slow right down.

0:16:05 > 0:16:07Once they've mastered the art of stopping,

0:16:07 > 0:16:10it's time for them to hit the track.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12Looking good. Keep going, keep going.

0:16:14 > 0:16:15Push your foot to the floor.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18Nice and fast, come on, come up the track.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20Come on, keep pedalling.

0:16:20 > 0:16:22SHOUTS OF ENCOURAGEMENT

0:16:22 > 0:16:23Well done, that's good.

0:16:23 > 0:16:25It's a bit nervous when you look at it, when you go on the slope.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28But when you're riding, you just don't think about it.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30You keep on going, it's easy.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32Pedal hard, pedal!

0:16:32 > 0:16:34Push, look forwards. Pedal hard, pedal hard.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37It felt really, like, unstable, and it felt like

0:16:37 > 0:16:39you were going to fall off,

0:16:39 > 0:16:42but then, after that, it was good fun.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44Hello!

0:16:47 > 0:16:50I think that deserves a high-five. Well done.

0:16:50 > 0:16:54All of you, amazing. Well done, guys.

0:16:54 > 0:16:57Give yourself a round of applause. Brilliant.

0:17:07 > 0:17:11Back at the build, the team have had a successful day.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14The commentary tower is up and standing at its full height

0:17:14 > 0:17:16of three-and-a-half metres.

0:17:18 > 0:17:21The backstage chill-out area is taking shape.

0:17:21 > 0:17:24And the guys have put in the awesome sunken trampoline.

0:17:26 > 0:17:30They're on track for now, but there's still tons of work to do.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33The next couple of days are going to be full-on if this den

0:17:33 > 0:17:35is going to get done in time.

0:17:35 > 0:17:37The Dengineers have been absolutely brilliant today.

0:17:37 > 0:17:42Everybody has mucked in again on another tough day. It's been hard.

0:17:42 > 0:17:45People are exhausted now, but I think we've achieved a lot,

0:17:45 > 0:17:47so really, really happy. Really pleased.

0:17:50 > 0:17:51It's day three of the build.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56So, here we've got the stage.

0:17:56 > 0:17:59Obviously it's not done as yet, still loads of work to do.

0:17:59 > 0:18:01We're going to get cracking on that in a little bit,

0:18:01 > 0:18:04but, until then, I think somebody's already enjoying it.

0:18:10 > 0:18:11It's a really early start this morning.

0:18:11 > 0:18:14Everybody's turned up, everybody's eager and willing to go.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17Weather's great, rubber safety floor guys have turned up.

0:18:17 > 0:18:20It's going to be colour, colour, colour all the way today. Brilliant.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22Can't wait. Excited.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25The rubber crumb safety flooring will be used

0:18:25 > 0:18:29for the multi-purpose sports pitch and the running track.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31But before any of it can be laid down,

0:18:31 > 0:18:34the Dengineers need to get their power tools out.

0:18:37 > 0:18:41Using a disc cutter, they're cutting a small trench in the concrete.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45This might seem like an odd thing to do, but it's really important.

0:18:47 > 0:18:52Concrete expands in warmer weather and contracts when it's cold.

0:18:52 > 0:18:55These trenches we're cutting are called expansion joints.

0:18:55 > 0:18:57They allow the concrete to move

0:18:57 > 0:19:00underneath the rubber crumb safety flooring.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03If we didn't do this, the concrete would crack randomly,

0:19:03 > 0:19:05which could cause big problems in the future.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11This flooring is made using recycled tyres,

0:19:11 > 0:19:14and then bound together using polyurethane.

0:19:19 > 0:19:21It's going to be great for the centre

0:19:21 > 0:19:23as it's one of the safest surfaces available,

0:19:23 > 0:19:25usable in all weathers,

0:19:25 > 0:19:28fast draining and very resistant.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35While the floor goes down, our young Dengineers

0:19:35 > 0:19:38are busy painting the back of the skills board.

0:19:38 > 0:19:43Then artist Paul is going to paint some super cool images on the front.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46So how will they actually use this?

0:19:46 > 0:19:48What we're going to do is stick on here, now,

0:19:48 > 0:19:52all the labels of all the holes, so, in other words, football, netball...

0:19:52 > 0:19:54Oh, OK.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56- Skills tester, you see?- Got it!

0:19:56 > 0:19:59- Cricket.- Oh, brilliant.

0:20:01 > 0:20:04With only two days to go until the big day,

0:20:04 > 0:20:06the team are full steam ahead.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08The children have been a massive help,

0:20:08 > 0:20:10but they now have to leave the site

0:20:10 > 0:20:13and won't see the final den until the big reveal.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16So far, it's been very exciting.

0:20:16 > 0:20:18There's been a lot of builders going in and out,

0:20:18 > 0:20:21and it looks like they're working very hard.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23I am really looking forward to seeing this,

0:20:23 > 0:20:25but I'm not sure if Sege can do it in time,

0:20:25 > 0:20:27cos there's a lot more things to go,

0:20:27 > 0:20:31but I'm hoping that it will and I'm really excited for it.

0:20:38 > 0:20:41With just one day to go before the big reveal,

0:20:41 > 0:20:45the weather has taken a turn for the worse,

0:20:45 > 0:20:48and it's causing big problems for the build.

0:20:48 > 0:20:52It's affecting the paintwork, it's affecting the soft-floor surfacing.

0:20:52 > 0:20:56A lot to do, so many problems in our way.

0:20:56 > 0:21:00The team are bringing all the items they can indoors.

0:21:02 > 0:21:07Dengineers are having to work under pieces of tarpaulin...

0:21:07 > 0:21:10and gazebos are going up over the rubber crumb flooring

0:21:10 > 0:21:12to try and keep it dry.

0:21:12 > 0:21:13With this weather that we've got now,

0:21:13 > 0:21:17it's having a massive effect on the safety flooring

0:21:17 > 0:21:22because they literally just can't lay the floor in this weather.

0:21:22 > 0:21:25Unfortunately, there's a chance it's not going to get done,

0:21:25 > 0:21:28which is going to be really disappointing for everybody,

0:21:28 > 0:21:31but we're going to try our best.

0:21:34 > 0:21:38But it looks like it could be Sege's lucky day.

0:21:38 > 0:21:40Look at that blue sky.

0:21:40 > 0:21:44Eh? I mean, this is what we want. Look at it. No more rain.

0:21:47 > 0:21:48With the weather holding off,

0:21:48 > 0:21:50the team are finally able to start getting

0:21:50 > 0:21:52the next layer of flooring down.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57This is what will really bring some colour and excitement to the den.

0:22:01 > 0:22:03They can also start putting down the turf,

0:22:03 > 0:22:06which will be crucial in making the den look finished.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11Although the Dengineers are now able to go full steam ahead,

0:22:11 > 0:22:15they're not where they wanted to be at this point...

0:22:15 > 0:22:19and there's still a lot to get done before the big den reveal tomorrow.

0:22:27 > 0:22:29It's finally the day of the big den reveal,

0:22:29 > 0:22:32but because of the bad weather yesterday,

0:22:32 > 0:22:36the Dengineers are nowhere near ready.

0:22:36 > 0:22:40Sege, the den needs to be revealed today to the kids, and behind me...

0:22:40 > 0:22:42I don't even know how to describe this.

0:22:42 > 0:22:43What are we going to do about this?

0:22:43 > 0:22:45We've still got a fair bit to do.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47We're getting there, though, we're getting there.

0:22:47 > 0:22:49Are you? Because that looks horrendous.

0:22:49 > 0:22:50Well, yeah, it does at the moment.

0:22:50 > 0:22:53It's just a bit of old, wet mud, but we're going to get turf on that.

0:22:53 > 0:22:55It's going to look lovely and green.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58- When I was walking in, there's a running track over there.- Yeah.

0:22:58 > 0:23:01It looks great. Two blue lines. But there's a middle line that's black.

0:23:01 > 0:23:03There's a bit of an issue with that running track over there

0:23:03 > 0:23:05because there should be three colours on there.

0:23:05 > 0:23:07It needs to be topped off with an orange.

0:23:07 > 0:23:09We're running behind on that one.

0:23:09 > 0:23:11What is the backup if we don't get that finished?

0:23:11 > 0:23:12Because they can't play on that.

0:23:12 > 0:23:15Well, there's no doubt about it. It's got to get finished.

0:23:15 > 0:23:17We're not even going to consider a backup.

0:23:17 > 0:23:19We're just going to get it done.

0:23:20 > 0:23:22'It's a race against time

0:23:22 > 0:23:24'for the team to get the rest of the coloured flooring down...

0:23:26 > 0:23:28'..and finish off laying the turf.'

0:23:28 > 0:23:30Ah!

0:23:30 > 0:23:32I'm going to drop it. I'm going to drop it.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36It's a good job we've got Children In Need's Pudsey here

0:23:36 > 0:23:38to lend us a hand.

0:23:38 > 0:23:40Up you go, yeah.

0:23:40 > 0:23:41Easy. Got it.

0:23:44 > 0:23:48With the big reveal looming, people from the community

0:23:48 > 0:23:52have started to arrive, eager to see their sports-themed den.

0:23:53 > 0:23:56And with one last push from our Dengineers...

0:23:56 > 0:23:59they have finally finished.

0:24:09 > 0:24:13Just one week ago, this community centre in Manchester was drab,

0:24:13 > 0:24:17empty and in need of repair.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20Now it's an explosion of fun and colour.

0:24:20 > 0:24:24With a 25 metre running track.

0:24:24 > 0:24:27A multi-use sports pitch.

0:24:27 > 0:24:31Bleachers for spectators to sit on.

0:24:31 > 0:24:36A commentary tower, which is also an amazing climbing frame.

0:24:36 > 0:24:40The upcycled container and skills board.

0:24:41 > 0:24:44And, of course, the huge stage and backstage area

0:24:44 > 0:24:47for when people want to chill out and relax.

0:24:48 > 0:24:52And it's finally time for them to all see it.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55Guys, are you ready to see your den?

0:24:55 > 0:24:57CHEERING

0:25:01 > 0:25:05ALL: Five...four...three... two...one...

0:25:05 > 0:25:08CHEERING

0:25:11 > 0:25:13Come on in. Come on down.

0:25:13 > 0:25:15Do we like it?

0:25:15 > 0:25:18CHEERING

0:25:18 > 0:25:20- Have a look round. Come on. - Let's go for it.

0:25:20 > 0:25:22Go, go, go, go.

0:25:28 > 0:25:34I think it's so good. Oh, my gosh. It has so many different colours.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37It's amazing.

0:25:37 > 0:25:40What this den will mean for our community is a lot.

0:25:40 > 0:25:43It'll mean, like, something so special to everyone, like,

0:25:43 > 0:25:45I don't think anyone will forget this day.

0:25:45 > 0:25:47It's such a memorable moment.

0:25:53 > 0:25:56What's so cool about all these boards is they wipe off.

0:25:56 > 0:26:01So you can keep painting them over and over again in any colours,

0:26:01 > 0:26:04any faces, anybody you want.

0:26:04 > 0:26:07It has been brilliant. I couldn't have wanted a better reaction.

0:26:07 > 0:26:10It has made everything - all the hard work - worth it.

0:26:10 > 0:26:12It's just superb.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22My favourite bit of the den is probably the treehouse,

0:26:22 > 0:26:26where we can climb up and see all the other things around

0:26:26 > 0:26:27and just play up there.

0:26:29 > 0:26:31My favourite bit is the stage,

0:26:31 > 0:26:34because you get to act out anything you want,

0:26:34 > 0:26:36dance out whatever you want.

0:26:40 > 0:26:43On the backstage, the chill-out area, I think it's very cool,

0:26:43 > 0:26:48cos inside the tables, there's glass with pictures of a lot of memories.

0:26:48 > 0:26:49These are cool, aren't they?

0:26:52 > 0:26:55And the sunken trampoline is also proving to be

0:26:55 > 0:26:57a firm favourite with all of us.

0:27:01 > 0:27:03The Dengineers have done a brilliant job.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05I didn't think for one minute that they'd pull it off.

0:27:05 > 0:27:09This den will mean so much to the young people in the community.

0:27:09 > 0:27:11It's every kid's dream. It's going to be somewhere

0:27:11 > 0:27:13where they can all come and hang out together.

0:27:13 > 0:27:17It's colourful, it's safe, there's absolutely everything here for them.

0:27:17 > 0:27:20They're just going to be living the dream, really.

0:27:24 > 0:27:28Sege has done an amazing job. He has listened to the kids.

0:27:28 > 0:27:29This is what they asked for.

0:27:29 > 0:27:32They wanted trampolining, they wanted a running track,

0:27:32 > 0:27:34they wanted a treehouse, they wanted a sports pitch,

0:27:34 > 0:27:36they wanted a place where they could do arts.

0:27:36 > 0:27:39They've got it all.

0:27:39 > 0:27:44My hope for the future of this den is that it inspires budding athletes

0:27:44 > 0:27:47and it inspires budding actresses and actors

0:27:47 > 0:27:49and performers and artists.

0:27:49 > 0:27:53All of that would be wonderful. That would be a success.

0:27:54 > 0:27:57And after a final sign off from Pudsey,

0:27:57 > 0:28:00there's just one thing left to do.

0:28:00 > 0:28:03ALL: This den is done!

0:28:03 > 0:28:05CHEERING
