0:00:37 > 0:00:38Hello!

0:00:38 > 0:00:40CHILDREN SHOUT

0:00:40 > 0:00:42Yes, you, Lola.

0:00:46 > 0:00:48Let's do it.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55That's epic!

0:00:55 > 0:00:57- Really happy.- It's amazing.

0:01:03 > 0:01:06We've gone back to school to surprise today's Dengineer.

0:01:06 > 0:01:10And it won't be long until she arrives in this very classroom,

0:01:10 > 0:01:13completely unaware that she is going to get her dream den.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15- Exactly, so me and you had better get out of here.- Come on.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Today's Dengineer is 11-year-old Soibi from Manchester.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24I'd like to be a journalist, but in order to achieve my dreams,

0:01:24 > 0:01:27I'll need some help from The Dengineers.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Soibi absolutely loves the news.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32She loves reading.

0:01:32 > 0:01:35- Writing.- Even watching it.

0:01:35 > 0:01:37She loves North West Tonight news.

0:01:37 > 0:01:42She literally gets us to watch the news and, when it's not possible,

0:01:42 > 0:01:44she records them.

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Soibi uses her journalist skills to write regular

0:01:46 > 0:01:48newsletters for her local church.

0:01:48 > 0:01:51In this issue, need a big impact of power?

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Well, you've come to the right place.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56Soibi is very important to the community.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58She's gifted, she's very creative.

0:01:58 > 0:02:02This publication, it shows that she's got a great future.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06Soibi works on her research and writing whenever she can,

0:02:06 > 0:02:09but that's not always easy to do.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12She shares a bedroom with her three-year-old sister and, yes,

0:02:12 > 0:02:16that's nice sometimes, but I think other times Soibi needs her own

0:02:16 > 0:02:18space to focus and finish an activity.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21She's really sacrificed her time and herself,

0:02:21 > 0:02:25and she really deserves to have something special.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29There's no-one I can think of that needs or deserves it more than her.

0:02:29 > 0:02:31Don't worry, Soibi.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Our help is exactly what you're going to get.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37You've just got no idea that we are about to hit you with the surprise

0:02:37 > 0:02:40- of your life.- Thank you so much for listening.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43Goodbye.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46So, for this hit, we've called in the help of our CBBC chums -

0:02:46 > 0:02:50- Newsround - and they've lent us Ricky.- Hello!- Hey, Ricky.

0:02:50 > 0:02:51- How are you doing?- Good.

0:02:51 > 0:02:55Now, Ricky, Soibi is in a lesson right now, and her class think that

0:02:55 > 0:02:57you're coming here to talk to them about the news.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01- Right.- But we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to announce

0:03:01 > 0:03:05Newsround's newest presenters - hey, hey.

0:03:05 > 0:03:06- Right...- Now obviously, Ricky,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09we're not actually Newsround's new presenters.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Your job's safe. We're actually here to talk Dengineers.

0:03:12 > 0:03:15- We're too busy building dens for that.- Makes a lot more sense.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17- Let's do it. Are you ready to do it?- Yeah.- Let's go.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20The Dengineers' team have been mega-busy,

0:03:20 > 0:03:24fitting hidden cameras throughout the classroom and, bang on time,

0:03:24 > 0:03:27Soibi and Co arrive for their lesson.

0:03:27 > 0:03:31If we get spotted, this is game over.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33This is one of the most risky ones we've done.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37Now it's over to Ricky to begin Operation Surprise Soibi.

0:03:37 > 0:03:39Ricky, you're up.

0:03:39 > 0:03:40Hey, guys.

0:03:40 > 0:03:45How are you doing? Who watches Newsround maybe, like, every day?

0:03:45 > 0:03:47You do. What's your name?

0:03:47 > 0:03:50- Soibi.- And what is it about Newsround you like?

0:03:50 > 0:03:52It's, like, from...for kids.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55Quick, ah, we almost got spotted then.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57And do you like some of the presenters?

0:03:57 > 0:04:00Who's your favourite presenter? Yes!

0:04:01 > 0:04:03Everything is set.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07It's time for the huge and totally fictional CBBC announcement.

0:04:07 > 0:04:13We are going to reveal two brand-new Newsround presenters.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16- So shall we go and get them? - PUPILS: Yeah.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Fantastic, let's do it.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23Hello, hello.

0:04:23 > 0:04:27Hi there. So we're not actually Newsround's new presenters.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31That was a bit of a trick. Ricky's been having you on.

0:04:31 > 0:04:32My name's Lauren. This is Mark.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35We're from CBBC's The Dengineers.

0:04:35 > 0:04:39We're actually looking for Soibi.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42And there you are. How are you doing, Soibi?

0:04:42 > 0:04:43LAUGHTER

0:04:43 > 0:04:46- You feeling OK?- Not really.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49Well, we've heard that you love the news

0:04:49 > 0:04:51and one day you want to become a journalist. Is that correct?

0:04:51 > 0:04:56- Yeah.- And we've heard that you need some space to do your research,

0:04:56 > 0:04:57to prepare your reports.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Is that about right?

0:04:59 > 0:05:03- Yeah.- So you should be happy to know that you're going to be leaving with

0:05:03 > 0:05:07us to get ready to build your very own dream den.

0:05:07 > 0:05:10- No, this is a dream.- Give her a round of applause, everyone!

0:05:10 > 0:05:11APPLAUSE

0:05:11 > 0:05:13Go, Soibi!

0:05:13 > 0:05:15Let's go!

0:05:15 > 0:05:17I feel like I'm in a dream because I didn't really know

0:05:17 > 0:05:20that it would happen. Also, I'm really shocked

0:05:20 > 0:05:23and I'm really anxious to know what's going to happen next.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26I felt overwhelmed for Soibi,

0:05:26 > 0:05:29because she looked like she was dead happy,

0:05:29 > 0:05:30so I'm dead like happy for her.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34This has been the coolest thing that's ever happened in school.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38Our first port of call is The Dengineers' mobile HQ,

0:05:38 > 0:05:41which has some mega-cool technology to get this den rolling.

0:05:41 > 0:05:46Soibi, in here is where we download all of the ideas that you've got in

0:05:46 > 0:05:49your head onto this massive computer.

0:05:49 > 0:05:53You're the boss of your den, so anything you see on here, grab it.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56- Oh, she's straight in there. Look at that.- Oh, wow!

0:05:56 > 0:05:58So tell us what's the idea of your den?

0:05:58 > 0:06:01It's going to be like a mini studio for me, like,

0:06:01 > 0:06:03to do my reports and then also a work space

0:06:03 > 0:06:05so I can make the reports.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07So what else on here, Soibi, do you like?

0:06:07 > 0:06:11A green screen because, say you want to do weather or

0:06:11 > 0:06:15make a picture behind you, something that you're reporting about.

0:06:15 > 0:06:17Oh, perfect.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19Maybe that could go on top.

0:06:19 > 0:06:20Maybe on top. That would be a cool idea.

0:06:20 > 0:06:22That is a good idea.

0:06:22 > 0:06:24Why have you chosen the bookshelves and the books?

0:06:24 > 0:06:26Because I have lots of files

0:06:26 > 0:06:29in my room and there's nowhere to keep them.

0:06:29 > 0:06:32Me and my sister, because I share a room with her and sometimes she'll

0:06:32 > 0:06:35come up to me and ask me to play a game with her,

0:06:35 > 0:06:39but I want to do my report, so it'll be nice to have some space.

0:06:39 > 0:06:42We love little sisters and brothers, but also you need your own space.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44So there you have it, the den.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47- Come on then, let's get this den done.- Let's do it.

0:06:47 > 0:06:50Soibi has decided on a new studio look for her den,

0:06:50 > 0:06:52complete with a satellite dish,

0:06:52 > 0:06:56loads of storage for her research and a green screen to film her

0:06:56 > 0:06:57reports against.

0:06:57 > 0:07:01It's time to meet the designer who's going to make Soibi's den

0:07:01 > 0:07:03headline news.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06- But who will it be?- Meet Olga.

0:07:06 > 0:07:10She's a specialist in creating mega-cool dens and can make

0:07:10 > 0:07:13the smallest of spaces look totally awesome.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16She has all the skills to make this den a journalist's dream.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19So, Olga, tell us what have we got to look forward to?

0:07:19 > 0:07:23I'm planning to build your own news studio in this garden.

0:07:23 > 0:07:27Are you serious, Olga? You're going to make an entire studio?

0:07:27 > 0:07:31Yeah, why not? I was thinking to make it in the shape of a big telly.

0:07:31 > 0:07:33- Wow.- Wow is a good reaction.

0:07:33 > 0:07:34I like that a lot.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37So I was told you'd like something on the top of your den.

0:07:37 > 0:07:38- Yeah.- What is that?

0:07:38 > 0:07:41- It's a satellite. - Something like that?

0:07:41 > 0:07:47- Yeah.- That made me think, how about some aerials on the top of your den,

0:07:47 > 0:07:50like in an old school retro TV aerial?

0:07:50 > 0:07:51- Cool.- So when you say an aerial,

0:07:51 > 0:07:54like do you mean the thing on the top of TVs?

0:07:54 > 0:07:57- Yes.- Like back in the day. That's it, exactly. Oh!

0:07:57 > 0:08:00Soibi, what's your favourite bit that Olga has just said?

0:08:00 > 0:08:02The retro look for my den.

0:08:02 > 0:08:04Great. We've got a happy customer.

0:08:04 > 0:08:08Olga's plans have been given the Soibi stamp of approval.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11She's designed the outside of the den to look like an old school

0:08:11 > 0:08:15television, complete with a retro aerial on the top of the structure.

0:08:15 > 0:08:18On the inside, Soibi will have an amazing news studio

0:08:18 > 0:08:22as well as a research area, where she can work on her reports.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25Olga plans to construct Soibi's awesome journalism den

0:08:25 > 0:08:27in this area of the garden,

0:08:27 > 0:08:30but before any building can take place, we need to make sure

0:08:30 > 0:08:32the ground is level.

0:08:32 > 0:08:37To get this job done, Soibi and the Dengineers need to get digging.

0:08:37 > 0:08:42- Yes, Soibi! - Chucking it straight over.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44With the grass and mud cleared out,

0:08:44 > 0:08:46the team crack on laying the concrete.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56That's one, and that's it done.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59After a huge effort from the ground works team,

0:08:59 > 0:09:02building can finally begin on the structure of the den.

0:09:02 > 0:09:06And that means this garden is a Dengineers-only zone

0:09:06 > 0:09:09until the big reveal, in just four days' time.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16It's day one of the build in Manchester,

0:09:16 > 0:09:19and the first job for the Dengineers is to unload

0:09:19 > 0:09:21an enormous amount of den-building kit.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27The Dengineers have landed.

0:09:27 > 0:09:31I'm really excited to build the den, because I couldn't sleep,

0:09:31 > 0:09:32and I can't wait,

0:09:32 > 0:09:35because it's going to be, like, a really big part of my life.

0:09:38 > 0:09:42The next task for the team is to build the main structure of the den.

0:09:44 > 0:09:49A job which involves using over 130 metres of weatherproof timber.

0:09:51 > 0:09:55That's roughly the same length as five fully grown blue whales.

0:09:55 > 0:09:59- There you go.- Building a den this size is a huge challenge for the

0:09:59 > 0:10:02Dengineers, and designer Olga is feeling the pressure.

0:10:03 > 0:10:06This is one of the biggest structures I've ever built

0:10:06 > 0:10:07for The Dengineers,

0:10:07 > 0:10:11and it's going to be a huge task to make it happen in four days,

0:10:11 > 0:10:12but I do believe in the Dengineers' power,

0:10:12 > 0:10:14and I'm sure we can make it happen.

0:10:16 > 0:10:20Whilst the team crack on constructing this mammoth structure,

0:10:20 > 0:10:23Olga needs Soibi's help with some painting.

0:10:23 > 0:10:27Really good. Look how quick you are.

0:10:27 > 0:10:28Painting with Olga was fun

0:10:28 > 0:10:32because it gave me a hint of what to expect with the den.

0:10:32 > 0:10:34I can't wait to see the rest of the den.

0:10:34 > 0:10:38This den's going to give Soibi some much-needed space of her own.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40I want to find out more from Mum and Dad

0:10:40 > 0:10:42about how much this will mean to her.

0:10:42 > 0:10:47Soibi usually has her siblings jumping up and down or interrupting

0:10:47 > 0:10:51her when she's writing things, so I think having her own space,

0:10:51 > 0:10:53where she can do her own thing, will be good for her.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56Soibi shares a room with her younger sister, who's only three.

0:10:56 > 0:10:57Does she ever complain about that?

0:10:57 > 0:10:59She doesn't really complain, you know,

0:10:59 > 0:11:02and that's a wonderful characteristic,

0:11:02 > 0:11:03if I may say, of her.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05How good of a journalist is Soibi?

0:11:05 > 0:11:08She takes the initiative to go and do interviews,

0:11:08 > 0:11:10record them and then she writes and edits her stuff,

0:11:10 > 0:11:13so for her age, I thought it was amazing, and especially having a den

0:11:13 > 0:11:17now, where she can have her own space and have some of the equipment

0:11:17 > 0:11:19she needs, I think the sky's the limit.

0:11:19 > 0:11:21I promise you it's going to be incredible.

0:11:21 > 0:11:24- Are you excited to see it?- Yes, we are. I can't wait, actually.

0:11:24 > 0:11:27- Yes, very much so.- Are you nervous about what it's done to your garden?

0:11:27 > 0:11:30- Yes and no.- No peeking!

0:11:30 > 0:11:32You're going to love it when it's finally built.

0:11:35 > 0:11:36Back in the garden,

0:11:36 > 0:11:39and the structure of Soibi's den has gone up.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42The roof has been sealed to avoid any water getting inside.

0:11:42 > 0:11:45The next job for Soibi and the Dengineers is to cover the inside of

0:11:45 > 0:11:49the den in over 100m of foil insulation.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52What we've got is this foil bubble wrap,

0:11:52 > 0:11:54pretty much like you do your packaging with,

0:11:54 > 0:11:57and it will help keep the den nice and warm during winter.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03OK, so what are you going to use your den for?

0:12:03 > 0:12:04I'm going to use it for journalism,

0:12:04 > 0:12:07like to write my own newsletters and to broadcast them.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10I'd like to broadcast about my dog.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13- I've got a pet dog.- What's its name?

0:12:13 > 0:12:15Betty.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20With Soibi's help, it's not long until the whole den is covered in

0:12:20 > 0:12:23- the foil insulation. - That's it, push hard. Perfect.

0:12:23 > 0:12:28Day one of the build is done and the Dengineers are well ahead of

0:12:28 > 0:12:31schedule, and one team member has impressed Olga big-time.

0:12:31 > 0:12:33Soibi has done really well today.

0:12:33 > 0:12:37She helped me painting, she was helping inside of the den.

0:12:37 > 0:12:41She loved it, and I'm happy with it, and I'm looking forward to tomorrow.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43I've had so much fun today.

0:12:43 > 0:12:44When it's finished, it's going to

0:12:44 > 0:12:48mean so much because it's going to help me achieve my dream.

0:12:52 > 0:12:56It's day two in Manchester and the Dengineers are continuing work on

0:12:56 > 0:12:59the inside of Soibi's journalism den.

0:13:01 > 0:13:04Olga plans to turn one wall of the den into a giant chalkboard,

0:13:04 > 0:13:06using special paint, but first,

0:13:06 > 0:13:09they need to smooth over the walls with sandpaper

0:13:09 > 0:13:11to make sure everything is level.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14Step up Soibi the super sander.

0:13:14 > 0:13:15Switch on.

0:13:19 > 0:13:23With the walls mega smooth, me and Soibi can get painting.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25Right, Soibi, let's go.

0:13:25 > 0:13:28We make light work of the chalkboard wall and it gives me a chance

0:13:28 > 0:13:31to find out more about what this space will mean to her.

0:13:32 > 0:13:35Why is this den going to help you achieve your dream?

0:13:35 > 0:13:38Because my little sister disturbs as I share a room with her,

0:13:38 > 0:13:40and I can't get much done.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43- But is she going to be allowed in here?- No.- Never?

0:13:43 > 0:13:46- Maybe she could film you? - Probably, yes, OK.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49- I think it looks pretty good, don't you?- Yeah.- Done?

0:13:49 > 0:13:51Done.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55The Dengineers spent the whole afternoon building the inside of

0:13:55 > 0:13:58the den, and whilst they push on, Soibi has an idea of how she can put

0:13:58 > 0:14:00her journalism skills to use.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03For my new den, I'm going to make a news report on what it was like when

0:14:03 > 0:14:05the Dengineers came to my house,

0:14:05 > 0:14:08so I'm going to interview people and do a bit of research.

0:14:08 > 0:14:12If you had a choice to make your own den in your own back garden,

0:14:12 > 0:14:15- what would it be? - Oh, I know, that's simple.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17It would be an art den.

0:14:17 > 0:14:20If you could swap your job for any other job,

0:14:20 > 0:14:21what would it be and why?

0:14:21 > 0:14:24It would probably be to become a professional football player,

0:14:24 > 0:14:27because it's what I always wanted to be when I was a kid.

0:14:27 > 0:14:28What do you actually do?

0:14:28 > 0:14:33Well, I do the sound, so without me, everything would sound like this.

0:14:33 > 0:14:35SILENCE

0:14:37 > 0:14:39Do you know the secrets about the den?

0:14:39 > 0:14:41I know a few secrets.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44- Can you tell me?- I'm not allowed to tell you, because that's part of it.

0:14:44 > 0:14:47All I can tell you is you're going to love it.

0:14:47 > 0:14:52Day two of the build is coming to an end and this will be the last time

0:14:52 > 0:14:56Soibi gets to see her den before the big reveal in two days' time.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58So have a good look.

0:14:58 > 0:15:00- What do you reckon? - It's really good.

0:15:00 > 0:15:04I'm glad you like what you see so far and I'm looking forward to see

0:15:04 > 0:15:05your reaction on the big day.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08Because I can't see my den any more, I'm feeling mixed emotions -

0:15:08 > 0:15:11sad because I'm not going to see it,

0:15:11 > 0:15:13but happy because it's going to progress and it's going to become

0:15:13 > 0:15:15something better.

0:15:17 > 0:15:19The team push on without Soibi

0:15:19 > 0:15:21and start building her awesome news studio.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27Olga has chosen acrylic for the backdrop of the studio,

0:15:27 > 0:15:29because it looks really cool.

0:15:29 > 0:15:30Be careful.

0:15:30 > 0:15:35However, it's an extremely delicate material and one slip with the drill

0:15:35 > 0:15:36could be disastrous.

0:15:36 > 0:15:40I'm looking a bit worried because this is the most important part

0:15:40 > 0:15:44of the den, so literally every single screw can damage the acrylic

0:15:44 > 0:15:48and it can snap, and if it snaps, we have nothing to replace it with.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51The team take great care with the drilling...

0:15:54 > 0:15:57..and eventually fit everything to the walls without any mistakes.

0:16:01 > 0:16:04The Dengineers have done a great job,

0:16:04 > 0:16:05but unfortunately it does mean

0:16:05 > 0:16:08they've fallen behind with the build.

0:16:08 > 0:16:09Olga, it's looking great,

0:16:09 > 0:16:13but you did design a retro TV for the outside of the den.

0:16:13 > 0:16:16That's not happened yet. When is this going to happen?

0:16:16 > 0:16:17We are slightly behind, it's true.

0:16:17 > 0:16:21We're actually quite a lot behind, but I think we should be fine.

0:16:21 > 0:16:25- Should be?- Yeah, we should be fine.

0:16:26 > 0:16:29As day two ends, the Dengineers know it's going to take an enormous

0:16:29 > 0:16:32amount of effort to get Soibi's den finished in time for the big reveal.

0:16:32 > 0:16:34Today was really, really hard.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37We didn't manage to achieve what we planned,

0:16:37 > 0:16:40so tomorrow we really need to work

0:16:40 > 0:16:43very, very hard, so I'm a bit worried,

0:16:43 > 0:16:46but if Dengineers can't do it, nobody can.

0:16:49 > 0:16:52If Soibi is going to be a hotshot journalist one day,

0:16:52 > 0:16:56I think it's time for her to learn some tricks from the best,

0:16:56 > 0:16:58so I've brought her to Media City in Salford,

0:16:58 > 0:17:00which is the home of not only CBBC,

0:17:00 > 0:17:05but also Soibi's favourite news programme, North West Tonight.

0:17:05 > 0:17:09They've only gone and let us have a VIP tour of the news studio!

0:17:10 > 0:17:12Wow.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16What do you think about this?

0:17:16 > 0:17:20- It's really good.- Our special access doesn't just get Soibi a seat

0:17:20 > 0:17:21on the famous red sofa.

0:17:21 > 0:17:23Oh, yeah, that's a comfy seat.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27You see this camera right over here?

0:17:27 > 0:17:31Underneath it, there's some words that will scroll up, and that's what

0:17:31 > 0:17:32the newsreaders use.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34Do you want to read out those?

0:17:34 > 0:17:38This is the very same equipment that Soibi's favourite presenter

0:17:38 > 0:17:40Annabel Tiffin uses

0:17:40 > 0:17:43when reading the news to half a million viewers every day.

0:17:43 > 0:17:44Good evening, welcome to

0:17:44 > 0:17:46North West Tonight with Annabel Tiffin.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49And now, it's Soibi's turn to try it out.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52Hi, my name is Soibi and welcome to Soibi News.

0:17:52 > 0:17:56On today's show, I'm having a behind-the-scenes tour

0:17:56 > 0:17:59on the North West Tonight studio,

0:17:59 > 0:18:03and I'm about to meet my favourite presenter, Annabel Tiffin.

0:18:05 > 0:18:07Hi, Soibi!

0:18:07 > 0:18:09- How are you?- I'm good.

0:18:09 > 0:18:11THEY LAUGH

0:18:11 > 0:18:12Was this a bit of a surprise?

0:18:12 > 0:18:14Yes.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16Oh, how do you feel, Soibi?

0:18:16 > 0:18:17Shocked.

0:18:17 > 0:18:19You want to be a journalist?

0:18:19 > 0:18:21- Yeah.- Do you? I think you're going to.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23I think you're going to steal my job, aren't you?

0:18:23 > 0:18:27Annabel, have you got any tips for Soibi as an aspiring journalist?

0:18:27 > 0:18:30I think you've got the confidence, haven't you?

0:18:30 > 0:18:32Are you quite nosy?

0:18:32 > 0:18:33- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:18:33 > 0:18:35She's already been digging a lot into what kind of den

0:18:35 > 0:18:37she's going to be getting.

0:18:37 > 0:18:39There's been lots of questions from Soibi already.

0:18:39 > 0:18:41You need to be a little bit nosy,

0:18:41 > 0:18:44and you just need to really be interested in people,

0:18:44 > 0:18:46and I think you are that as well, aren't you?

0:18:46 > 0:18:48Yes. I've always admired her on TV,

0:18:48 > 0:18:50and to see her in person is really good.

0:18:50 > 0:18:53I'm going to savour the moment.

0:18:53 > 0:18:57Soibi is in dreamland right now, and the surprises aren't over yet.

0:18:57 > 0:19:01So we've got you a little journalism bag with everything

0:19:01 > 0:19:05you're going to need to get you going on the road to journalism.

0:19:05 > 0:19:09- Thank you.- Soibi's got all the kit she needs

0:19:09 > 0:19:11to become an awesome journalist.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Time to test it out on her first interviewee.

0:19:14 > 0:19:16If you could swap this for any other job,

0:19:16 > 0:19:18what would you swap it for and why?

0:19:18 > 0:19:23I'd swap it to work with dolphins, I think,

0:19:23 > 0:19:26but I'm not a very good swimmer, so I think I'd better stay doing this.

0:19:26 > 0:19:29Thank you, Annabel, nice meeting you.

0:19:29 > 0:19:33- You too.- Today has been, like, one of the best days of my life because

0:19:33 > 0:19:36I've met my favourite presenter, I've visited my favourite TV show,

0:19:36 > 0:19:39plus I'm going to get a den made.

0:19:45 > 0:19:49Back at the den and the team are getting cracking on day three of

0:19:49 > 0:19:53the build, and a fast start is vital for the Dengineers to have any

0:19:53 > 0:19:56chance of finishing this den in time for the big reveal.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00The first task is to make the old school TV screen,

0:20:00 > 0:20:03and the team start by fixing coloured acrylic panels

0:20:03 > 0:20:05to the front of the den.

0:20:05 > 0:20:07Olga needs all hands on deck today,

0:20:07 > 0:20:10and although Soibi can't see the den until the big reveal,

0:20:10 > 0:20:14she can still help out away from the build, with the upcycle.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23What are you going to need lots of in the research part of your den?

0:20:23 > 0:20:26- Paper, pens and pencils. - That's it, exactly.

0:20:26 > 0:20:29So I've found lots of bottles,

0:20:29 > 0:20:32and my idea is to turn those bottles into

0:20:32 > 0:20:34storage for your stationery bits.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37- OK.- Something like that. - That's amazing.

0:20:37 > 0:20:42To transform these plastic bottles into cool stationery holders,

0:20:42 > 0:20:46the first task is to carefully cut the bottles into smaller sections,

0:20:46 > 0:20:50then Olga and Soibi glue a zip around both parts of the bottle.

0:20:50 > 0:20:52That's it, brilliant, well done.

0:20:52 > 0:20:55Let me hold it, you zip it.

0:20:58 > 0:21:00Yay!

0:21:00 > 0:21:03So Soibi, that's going to help you keep your den tidy.

0:21:05 > 0:21:08Everyone has worked really hard throughout the morning,

0:21:08 > 0:21:10but the team are still well behind schedule.

0:21:10 > 0:21:15It's going to be an enormous effort from the whole team to have the den

0:21:15 > 0:21:17finished, and the big reveal is coming.

0:21:17 > 0:21:19Failing is not an option.

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Olga needs all Dengineers on deck,

0:21:22 > 0:21:26so it's cameras down and tools up for the rest of day three.

0:21:26 > 0:21:28The Dengineers are making good progress,

0:21:28 > 0:21:30but with the big reveal looming,

0:21:30 > 0:21:34they have no choice but to keep working into the evening.

0:21:34 > 0:21:35It's late at night.

0:21:35 > 0:21:37I've got my paint. It's brilliant.

0:21:37 > 0:21:39The best time to work.

0:21:39 > 0:21:43And that means tonight's tea is served on site.

0:21:44 > 0:21:45The Dengineers push on,

0:21:45 > 0:21:48but as night falls, they're forced to call it a day.

0:21:50 > 0:21:55It's the morning of day four and the team are on site early to try

0:21:55 > 0:21:58and get this den finished in time for the big reveal.

0:22:00 > 0:22:04Every member of the team is working flat out to add the finishing

0:22:04 > 0:22:07- touches to Soibi's den.- It's reveal day and we're not finished yet.

0:22:07 > 0:22:10But Olga has just enough time to explain the engineering behind a

0:22:10 > 0:22:14cool bit of kit that's going to help Soibi with her journalism.

0:22:14 > 0:22:15Explain this to me.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18- What is this wall? - This is a green screen,

0:22:18 > 0:22:22and the way it works, it isolates one of the colours, which is green,

0:22:22 > 0:22:24which makes that colour invisible,

0:22:24 > 0:22:25therefore anything filmed against

0:22:25 > 0:22:28the colour can be projected on a different image.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31So if you were to film me against this wall, you could put

0:22:31 > 0:22:35a picture of the moon behind me and it would look like I'm on the moon?

0:22:35 > 0:22:36Exactly.

0:22:36 > 0:22:42This process of isolating or keying out a specific colour is often used

0:22:42 > 0:22:44in TV shows, weather forecasts,

0:22:44 > 0:22:47and it's used in loads of movies to make it look like actors are

0:22:47 > 0:22:49actually in these magical worlds.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52Soibi's journalism den is almost finished,

0:22:52 > 0:22:55thanks to a colossal effort by the Dengineers.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58There's no better painter on The Dengineers than moi.

0:22:58 > 0:23:02With the end in sight, they make one last push,

0:23:02 > 0:23:05and with only seconds to spare, Soibi's den is complete.

0:23:16 > 0:23:17This garden used to be home to

0:23:17 > 0:23:20a patch of grass and the family's bikes.

0:23:20 > 0:23:24But Olga and her team of dedicated Dengineers have

0:23:24 > 0:23:28worked their socks off over the past four days and transformed it

0:23:28 > 0:23:31into an incredible journalism den for Soibi.

0:23:34 > 0:23:38The garden is set for the big reveal and Soibi's friends and family have

0:23:38 > 0:23:40arrived to see the finished den.

0:23:40 > 0:23:44I think she deserves it, because it's like her life goal.

0:23:44 > 0:23:47This is the one thing that she really wants in her life.

0:23:47 > 0:23:51She just works so hard all the time, and I think it's really good for

0:23:51 > 0:23:52her to have a treat.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55I'm so excited to see my den finished for the first time,

0:23:55 > 0:23:57because there's so many surprises.

0:23:57 > 0:24:00I've never been more excited than this in my whole entire life.

0:24:00 > 0:24:03And it's not just Soibi and her friends

0:24:03 > 0:24:05who can't wait to see this den.

0:24:05 > 0:24:07I know she absolutely loves the news.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10I can't wait to see how they've managed to create a den which is

0:24:10 > 0:24:12really for an aspiring journalist.

0:24:13 > 0:24:15The waiting is over.

0:24:15 > 0:24:19It's time to find out what Soibi and Co think of this amazing den.

0:24:19 > 0:24:22- YELLS:- Are you ready to see Soibi's den?

0:24:22 > 0:24:24THEY CHEER

0:24:26 > 0:24:29ALL: Five, four, three,

0:24:29 > 0:24:31two, one.

0:24:31 > 0:24:33THEY CHEER

0:24:39 > 0:24:42Soibi, from first look, what do you reckon?

0:24:42 > 0:24:45- Wow.- Mum and Dad, what do you reckon?

0:24:45 > 0:24:47Wow. Really good.

0:24:47 > 0:24:49Soibi wanted a journalism den,

0:24:49 > 0:24:52where she can practice and perfect her news reports,

0:24:52 > 0:24:55and Olga and the Dengineers have delivered big time.

0:24:55 > 0:24:58What's there, what's catching your eye first of all?

0:24:58 > 0:25:00- The logo.- What do you like about that?

0:25:00 > 0:25:03I like the star and the way it says Soibi's News Studio.

0:25:03 > 0:25:07The outside of the den has been built in the shape of a

0:25:07 > 0:25:09cool old school TV, complete with a retro aerial,

0:25:09 > 0:25:13and Soibi has even got her own personalised news logo.

0:25:13 > 0:25:16Welcome to your news den.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19Wow!

0:25:19 > 0:25:21ALL: Whoa!

0:25:21 > 0:25:22Come on.

0:25:25 > 0:25:28That's good. Look at that.

0:25:28 > 0:25:30There we are on North West Tonight

0:25:30 > 0:25:34and now you've got your very own North West Tonight.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37- What do you think? - Wow, that's actually really good,

0:25:37 > 0:25:39I didn't imagine it to be like this.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42The inside of the den is split into two areas.

0:25:42 > 0:25:45One half is a research area complete with upcycled stationery

0:25:45 > 0:25:48containers and loads of storage for Soibi's notes,

0:25:48 > 0:25:51and the other is a news studio complete with a green screen,

0:25:51 > 0:25:53where Soibi can film herself

0:25:53 > 0:25:56projected against any image she wants.

0:25:56 > 0:26:00What's the thing that's capturing your attention straightaway?

0:26:00 > 0:26:01It has to be the backdrop,

0:26:01 > 0:26:04because I said I wanted something that would remind you of

0:26:04 > 0:26:07a news studio, and you guys really, really brought that.

0:26:07 > 0:26:08Oh, great news.

0:26:08 > 0:26:12- We did a good un.- This day is so amazing, I absolutely love it.

0:26:12 > 0:26:16I'm so happy with all the designs and I'm really grateful for it.

0:26:16 > 0:26:21We are recording in five, four, three, two, one.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24Good evening and welcome to The World Uncovered with Soibi.

0:26:24 > 0:26:26I love this new den.

0:26:26 > 0:26:29Thank you to everyone who helped with this.

0:26:29 > 0:26:32I can't explain how good this is going to be in part of my life.

0:26:32 > 0:26:34- Oh.- Yeah.

0:26:34 > 0:26:36THEY CHEER

0:26:36 > 0:26:37Amazing.

0:26:37 > 0:26:42On a scale of one to ten, I love my den by one million.

0:26:42 > 0:26:44Who wants to come and see?

0:26:44 > 0:26:46EVERYONE CHEERS AND SHOUTS

0:26:46 > 0:26:47Come on.

0:26:47 > 0:26:52I think the den is really good and it's unique because it's got Soibi

0:26:52 > 0:26:53printed out everywhere,

0:26:53 > 0:26:57so you know it's definitely hers and not anybody else's.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00These guys absolutely love the journalism den.

0:27:00 > 0:27:04Now it's time for Soibi News' debut interview.

0:27:04 > 0:27:06So Ricky, tell me, would you like a news den like this?

0:27:06 > 0:27:08I'm so jealous.

0:27:08 > 0:27:10I mean, I work in a news studio every day,

0:27:10 > 0:27:13but I'd love to have something like this in my garden.

0:27:13 > 0:27:14I tell you what, if the Newsround studio,

0:27:14 > 0:27:16if we ever have a problem with it,

0:27:16 > 0:27:18can we come here and do Newsround from your den?
