0:00:37 > 0:00:39- Hello!- Hello!

0:00:39 > 0:00:41Yes, you, Lola!

0:00:47 > 0:00:48Let's do it.

0:00:53 > 0:00:55That is epic.

0:00:55 > 0:00:56Really happy.

0:00:56 > 0:00:57It's amazing.

0:01:03 > 0:01:04Hello. We're in Leeds today,

0:01:04 > 0:01:08where a unit of Girl Guides will be joining us at this very park -

0:01:08 > 0:01:10one of which is our Dengineer.

0:01:10 > 0:01:13A unit of Girl Guides? So, what are we talking? Like, five?

0:01:13 > 0:01:14- Nah.- Ten?

0:01:14 > 0:01:17- Nah.- 15?

0:01:17 > 0:01:20- Nah. Try over 30.- Over 30?!

0:01:20 > 0:01:22So, what you're saying is we're going to have to avoid

0:01:22 > 0:01:27being spotted by a whole park full of people AND over 30 Girl Guides?!

0:01:27 > 0:01:28That's exactly what I'm saying.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30We don't make it easy on ourselves, do we?

0:01:30 > 0:01:32No, so we'd better get going. Come on.

0:01:32 > 0:01:33Whilst our team starts setting up

0:01:33 > 0:01:36the hidden cameras for the big surprise,

0:01:36 > 0:01:37let's meet today's Dengineer.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45Meet ten-year-old Carrie from Leeds.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47Dengineers, I really need your help

0:01:47 > 0:01:49to create me a fab, positive den

0:01:49 > 0:01:52celebrating all things being ginger.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54Carrie loves her amazing red hair,

0:01:54 > 0:01:58but others haven't always been quite so positive about it.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Well, Carrie's really keen to celebrate the colour of her hair,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04mainly because, in the past, she's been singled out because of it.

0:02:04 > 0:02:06She's always tried to remain positive,

0:02:06 > 0:02:08but sometimes people have not been very kind about it.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11So this is a really good way for her to celebrate.

0:02:11 > 0:02:15Carrie's mega-upbeat attitude stretches far and wide,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18and she uses it to help other children at school.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21And one of those is seven-year-old Lily-Jade.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23She helps me stay in the classroom,

0:02:23 > 0:02:26and when I'm upset or sad, she's always there for me.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29As a reward for being good at school,

0:02:29 > 0:02:31Lily-Jade gets to spend time with Carrie

0:02:31 > 0:02:34and their favourite thing to do is read together.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37Carrie is really important to Lily and how she gets on at school,

0:02:37 > 0:02:40cos Lily is really, really bright

0:02:40 > 0:02:42and she just needs a little bit of focus sometimes.

0:02:42 > 0:02:45And if she knows that she's got encouragement and praise

0:02:45 > 0:02:47and rewards with Carrie,

0:02:47 > 0:02:49then that keeps her really focused.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52Carrie loves helping other children at school.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55So much so, she wants to become a teacher one day.

0:02:55 > 0:02:59And there's one subject that Carrie would be perfect at teaching.

0:02:59 > 0:03:01Oh, it would definitely be arts and crafts.

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Anything, painting, drawing, creative,

0:03:04 > 0:03:06with a little bit of imagination thrown in,

0:03:06 > 0:03:08that's what she'd be brilliant at.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10This girl really deserves a den.

0:03:10 > 0:03:14And a den is exactly what Carrie's about to get -

0:03:14 > 0:03:15she just doesn't know it yet.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20This park is filling up quickly,

0:03:20 > 0:03:21so our team better get their skates on

0:03:21 > 0:03:24- fitting in the hidden cameras, hey, Tim?- Yeah, yeah.

0:03:24 > 0:03:26Whilst the Dengineers team work double-time

0:03:26 > 0:03:29to get everything set for the big surprise,

0:03:29 > 0:03:33Carrie and her Girl Guide pals start to arrive at the park.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36Now, all we need is our Dengineer on the inside.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39So, Gillian, you're the leader of Carrie's Girl Guide unit,

0:03:39 > 0:03:42which makes you the perfect person for this job.

0:03:42 > 0:03:44- I am.- Now, Gillian, what have you told the girls?

0:03:44 > 0:03:46We've told the girls they're coming here

0:03:46 > 0:03:47to make a film for Girl Guiding.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49I like it. Sneaky skills.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52Do you think that Carrie has any idea what's about to happen?

0:03:52 > 0:03:54- I don't think she's any idea whatsoever.- Good.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56How do you think she'll react?

0:03:56 > 0:03:58I think she's going to be so shocked and surprised.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01Yeah, I think she's going to be super, super excited.

0:04:01 > 0:04:04Having had this chat, I'm already feeling like an honorary Girl Guide.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06- Here we go... - Do you want to make your promise?

0:04:06 > 0:04:08- Yeah! How do I do that? - Make the Guide Sign.

0:04:08 > 0:04:10- OK, three fingers. - And repeat after me.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13- I promise that I will do my best. - I promise that I will do my best.

0:04:13 > 0:04:15To be true to myself and to develop my beliefs.

0:04:15 > 0:04:16To be true to myself and develop my beliefs.

0:04:16 > 0:04:20- To serve the Queen and my community. - To serve the Queen and my community.

0:04:20 > 0:04:22- To help other people. - To help other people.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24- And to keep the Guide law. - And to keep the Guide law.

0:04:24 > 0:04:26Ha-ha! Look at that!

0:04:26 > 0:04:29Gillian, it is now time for you to go and get the girls.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32So, go on, off you go, make it happen, and we'll see you in a bit.

0:04:32 > 0:04:33- Thank you. See you later. - Go on, Gillian!

0:04:33 > 0:04:36- You're not a Girl Guide. - I am!- You never will be.- I am now!

0:04:36 > 0:04:37I was a Scout, love.

0:04:37 > 0:04:38Yeah, you wish, Mark.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41The park is filling up quickly, so we need to get our team

0:04:41 > 0:04:44into position before the surprise is blown.

0:04:44 > 0:04:48Gillian rounds up the Girl Guides for a spot of fictional filming.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50The surprise is on.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57(They're right there.)

0:04:57 > 0:04:58They're literally right there.

0:05:00 > 0:05:02- Let's do this.- (Come on.)

0:05:02 > 0:05:04- Got it.- Right...

0:05:10 > 0:05:13- Hello!- Hello, girls. How are you doing?

0:05:13 > 0:05:16Now, we are looking for...Carrie.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20- Hello, Carrie. - Come over here, Carrie.

0:05:20 > 0:05:22- I am Mark.- And I'm Lauren.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25We're from CBBC's The Dengineers.

0:05:25 > 0:05:29Now, we've heard that you would love to build

0:05:29 > 0:05:32your very own awesome den celebrating all things ginger.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34- Is that correct?- Yeah.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Well, that's exactly what you're going to get.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39- How does that sound?- Awesome.

0:05:39 > 0:05:41Give her a big round of applause, everyone.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43Woo-hoo!

0:05:43 > 0:05:46So, Carrie is going to be coming with us

0:05:46 > 0:05:50to build her very own awesome dream den.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52So, girls, I'm afraid to say, we're going to have to leave you,

0:05:52 > 0:05:55but you're all going to come to the den one time and have some fun?

0:05:55 > 0:05:57- GIRLS:- Yes!

0:05:57 > 0:05:59For now, we've got to take Carrie away, so we'll see you later.

0:05:59 > 0:06:01- Bye.- Bye.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05It was amazing when Mark and Lauren jumped up on the kerb,

0:06:05 > 0:06:08cos I wasn't expecting it at all.

0:06:08 > 0:06:11I'm, like, one hundred thousand million percent happy.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14Never been as happy as this before.

0:06:14 > 0:06:18It's definitely the coolest thing that's ever happened at Guides.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20She's a really valued member at our Guides,

0:06:20 > 0:06:24and she deserves what she's getting because she's just really nice,

0:06:24 > 0:06:26and to have something good to happen to her...

0:06:26 > 0:06:29It's really cool, because, like, being ginger, as well,

0:06:29 > 0:06:30so I support it all.

0:06:30 > 0:06:34Our first port of call is the mobile Dengineers HQ

0:06:34 > 0:06:37which has some mega-cool technology to get this den rolling.

0:06:39 > 0:06:42So, Carrie, in here is where we're going to download

0:06:42 > 0:06:44all of the ideas that you've got in your head

0:06:44 > 0:06:46and pop them onto this big computer.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49And remember, Carrie, you are the boss of your own den,

0:06:49 > 0:06:52so anything you see here, anything you want, throw it up.

0:06:52 > 0:06:56What's the actual idea for your den? How can we kick things off?

0:06:56 > 0:07:00I want a gingerbread theme.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02- This is brilliant. - A gingerbread house.

0:07:02 > 0:07:06A gingerbread house for the ginger theme.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09Explain what kind of gingerbread house you want.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11I want it to be like for when I grow up, as well.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14Yeah, we need to think about the future here, don't we?

0:07:14 > 0:07:16What about something more like that?

0:07:16 > 0:07:20That's better because it isn't as babyish.

0:07:20 > 0:07:22I love quotes.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25- There's lots of quotes.- OK, nice.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27Carrie, what's your favourite quote?

0:07:27 > 0:07:28My favourite quote is

0:07:28 > 0:07:31"Be yourself - everyone else is taken".

0:07:32 > 0:07:34That is one of the good ones.

0:07:34 > 0:07:36- That is a lovely quote. - I like it a lot.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39So, what's your den actually going to be for?

0:07:39 > 0:07:40What are you going to use it for?

0:07:40 > 0:07:42I like doing crafts...

0:07:42 > 0:07:44- OK. So, like that.- Yeah.

0:07:44 > 0:07:47I think it's one of the most unique ideas

0:07:47 > 0:07:49that we've had so far in The Dengineers.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51I've never heard anything like it,

0:07:51 > 0:07:54and I think it's going to be absolutely brilliant.

0:07:54 > 0:07:58So, Carrie's decided on a grown-up gingerbread house for her den,

0:07:58 > 0:08:01with positive and inspirational quotes on the wall,

0:08:01 > 0:08:04and a space where she can work on her arts and crafts.

0:08:04 > 0:08:07Carrie's got some big plans for the den,

0:08:07 > 0:08:09but we can't get started until we know

0:08:09 > 0:08:13where she wants to build her awesome gingerbread house.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15Right, Carrie, so, where are we having the den?

0:08:15 > 0:08:18- In that corner over there. - Ah... I see.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20That does look pretty good, quite a big space.

0:08:20 > 0:08:21But we've got a tree in the way.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23Well, ha-ha!

0:08:23 > 0:08:27Luckily, for you guys, I am actually a really good tree surgeon,

0:08:27 > 0:08:31so if anyone could pass me my old chainsaw, get to work...

0:08:31 > 0:08:33SHE IMITATES CHAINSAW

0:08:33 > 0:08:36- The tree is this skinny and this big.- Yeah.

0:08:36 > 0:08:38You do not need a chainsaw - we can get that out with our hands.

0:08:38 > 0:08:41Bit of elbow grease, little shovel, we're in there.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44Yeah, that's what I was going to say.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46If Carrie wants to build her den here,

0:08:46 > 0:08:48we need to do a spot of Dengineers gardening

0:08:48 > 0:08:52and transfer this tree to another patch of grass.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55A job like this is going to take some serious strength.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58HE GROANS, BOTH CHEER

0:08:58 > 0:09:01Whilst Mark puts his muscles into action,

0:09:01 > 0:09:03me and Carrie get our hands dirty.

0:09:06 > 0:09:11After a mighty team effort, the tree is in its new home,

0:09:11 > 0:09:14and the corner of the garden is ready for Carrie's den.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16Mum, are you gutted about your tree?

0:09:16 > 0:09:18I do think it looks quite nice there.

0:09:18 > 0:09:20- Yay!- I was worried about that. - Good job.

0:09:20 > 0:09:23But on the one hand we giveth,

0:09:23 > 0:09:27on the other hand we take away-eth.

0:09:27 > 0:09:30In other words, Mum...see this sign?

0:09:30 > 0:09:32Sling your hook.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34- Go on.- Bye, Mum.- Dengineers only. - See ya!

0:09:34 > 0:09:37- Sure...- See you later.- Bye!

0:09:37 > 0:09:39'I'm really quite nervous.'

0:09:39 > 0:09:42Just letting go of my garden and handing it over to her

0:09:42 > 0:09:45is a little bit worrying, but I do trust her.

0:09:45 > 0:09:49With the site cleared, it's time to meet the designer of Carrie's den.

0:09:49 > 0:09:53But who will make her gingerbread house dreams come to life?

0:09:53 > 0:09:56Well, it is two for the price of one with this den.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58Meet Tony and Satwinder.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00They're both amazing architects and lecturers

0:10:00 > 0:10:03who, between them, have over 40 years' experience

0:10:03 > 0:10:05designing awesome structures.

0:10:05 > 0:10:08They're a perfect match for this den.

0:10:08 > 0:10:10So, we've been chatting to Mark and Lauren,

0:10:10 > 0:10:11and we've seen all your brilliant ideas,

0:10:11 > 0:10:14and we're really excited about designing your den.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16Have you had any thoughts how it should look?

0:10:16 > 0:10:19I want it to, when I grow up, I can go in it

0:10:19 > 0:10:21and not think it's a bit kiddy.

0:10:21 > 0:10:23We want to make it look like a gingerbread house,

0:10:23 > 0:10:25- but be slightly different.- Yeah.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27So one thing we thought it could be,

0:10:27 > 0:10:29it could be quite crooked, a bit sort of Gothic.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32- That would be really cool, yeah. - OK, you got any other thoughts?

0:10:32 > 0:10:34Maybe, like, if I could have a table,

0:10:34 > 0:10:38so I could do lots of craft work on that, that would be really cool.

0:10:38 > 0:10:42Fantastic. So what we could have is a desk maybe up against one wall,

0:10:42 > 0:10:45and we had an idea that we might have a mirror on the wall

0:10:45 > 0:10:50so it looks like the desk is disappearing into the other side.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52Yeah, that sounds awesome.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56Tony and Satwinder's plans have been given a big tick from Carrie.

0:10:56 > 0:10:58They've designed the outside of the den

0:10:58 > 0:11:01to look like a grown-up, crooked gingerbread house,

0:11:01 > 0:11:05and inside she'll have an awesome desk to do her arts and crafts,

0:11:05 > 0:11:08and Tony and Satwinder are going to do some cool tricks with mirrors

0:11:08 > 0:11:10to create Carrie a magical space.

0:11:10 > 0:11:14This is probably more than I expected in the den.

0:11:14 > 0:11:16I didn't think it were going to be this good. I can't wait!

0:11:16 > 0:11:19I just want to build it right now.

0:11:19 > 0:11:23The first job for the Dengineers is to lay down some concrete slabs

0:11:23 > 0:11:25which are needed to support the weight of Carrie's den.

0:11:28 > 0:11:29With the ground ready for action,

0:11:29 > 0:11:32it's time for the rest of the team to arrive.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36And, boy, do we bring a lot of kit.

0:11:36 > 0:11:38Keep coming, keep coming, keep coming...

0:11:41 > 0:11:42It's as tall as you!

0:11:46 > 0:11:49'Unpacking all this den-building kit is thirsty work,

0:11:49 > 0:11:51'so it's a good job me, Tony and Carrie

0:11:51 > 0:11:53'are brew-maker extraordinaires.'

0:11:53 > 0:11:55That's lovely, that.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57The Dengineers have well and truly moved in,

0:11:57 > 0:12:01and the first job of the day is to put up the main structure of the den

0:12:01 > 0:12:05which has been made off site from over 130 metres of timber.

0:12:05 > 0:12:09That's about the same length as one and a half football pitches.

0:12:09 > 0:12:14This is a massive job, and one that is concerning designer Tony.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17This is one of the most complicated designs I think we've done.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Just to get it to stand up is tricky, let alone make it look good.

0:12:20 > 0:12:22So, yeah, I'm pretty worried at the minute.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24The Dengineers spend all of day one

0:12:24 > 0:12:28putting Tony and Satwinder's complex plans into action...

0:12:30 > 0:12:32Magic!

0:12:32 > 0:12:35Look, it slots right in.

0:12:35 > 0:12:36'..whilst me and Carrie paint the letters

0:12:36 > 0:12:39'that will spell out her name along the roof of the den.'

0:12:39 > 0:12:42Tone, what are you saying?

0:12:42 > 0:12:44- I'm saying it looks great. - Yeah!- I love it.

0:12:45 > 0:12:47The centrepiece inside Carrie's den

0:12:47 > 0:12:50is going to be an arts and crafts desk,

0:12:50 > 0:12:53and Satwinder's got a cool idea for an upcycled chair to go with it.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00Can you guess what this is?

0:13:00 > 0:13:02Is it the thing inside the washing machine?

0:13:02 > 0:13:04Yeah, it is.

0:13:04 > 0:13:06It's not from your house - don't worry.

0:13:06 > 0:13:07It's from an old washing machine.

0:13:07 > 0:13:09So, what we're going to do is

0:13:09 > 0:13:11we're going to use this to make the structure

0:13:11 > 0:13:13of a special chair that goes in your den.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16- What do you think? - It sounds awesome.

0:13:16 > 0:13:18To turn this old washing machine part

0:13:18 > 0:13:20into a cool chair for Carrie's den,

0:13:20 > 0:13:23the first thing to do is paint the metal exterior.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25I like this colour.

0:13:25 > 0:13:28Then Satwinder and Carrie move on to painting the wooden legs

0:13:28 > 0:13:30that the chair will rest on.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32How do you think that looks against the brown?

0:13:32 > 0:13:35I think it works really well, doesn't it?

0:13:35 > 0:13:38The next time Carrie will see her upcycled chair

0:13:38 > 0:13:40it'll be complete with a cushion to sit on

0:13:40 > 0:13:43and will have pride of place in her gingerbread house den.

0:13:43 > 0:13:46With a mixture of hard work and tasty refreshments

0:13:46 > 0:13:49in the shape of Carrie's home-made gingerbread men,

0:13:49 > 0:13:52it's not long until the structure of the den is up.

0:13:52 > 0:13:53Perfect.

0:13:53 > 0:13:56I think today has gone amazingly.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59I don't think it could've gone any better.

0:13:59 > 0:14:01Day one of the build is done,

0:14:01 > 0:14:04and the mood in the camp is sky-high.

0:14:04 > 0:14:09Tony, I literally cannot believe how much has gone up in one day.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11- Let's just go on holiday, guys. - Whoa, no, we can't.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13We've got hundreds of these to put on tomorrow.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16It's going to take all day, so...we're not there yet.

0:14:16 > 0:14:18The build's gone really well today,

0:14:18 > 0:14:20but I think everyone's sort of underestimating a little bit

0:14:20 > 0:14:21what needs to be done.

0:14:21 > 0:14:24There's still loads to do, and there's only three days left now.

0:14:28 > 0:14:32It's day two in Leeds, and the weather forecast today is windy.

0:14:34 > 0:14:35Very windy.

0:14:35 > 0:14:38Which is the worst possible weather if you need to fit

0:14:38 > 0:14:41hundreds of wooden shingles to the roof of a den.

0:14:41 > 0:14:43The biggest concern is the weather.

0:14:43 > 0:14:44If the wind gets too strong,

0:14:44 > 0:14:46we'll have to just stop doing the shingles today,

0:14:46 > 0:14:49cos it could genuinely get quite dangerous.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52At the moment it's safe for the Dengineers team to push on

0:14:52 > 0:14:55with laying the shingles onto the roof.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57But if it gets any stronger,

0:14:57 > 0:15:00the team will have no choice but to stop working.

0:15:00 > 0:15:03Which would be a disaster for their chances of finishing the den

0:15:03 > 0:15:05in time for the big reveal.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07As the team keep one eye on the weather,

0:15:07 > 0:15:10I get stuck into some arts and crafts with Carrie's mum

0:15:10 > 0:15:13and find out why she deserves this amazing den.

0:15:13 > 0:15:17So, where did the idea of doing a gingerbread house come from?

0:15:17 > 0:15:20Well, she was trying to think of something very original

0:15:20 > 0:15:24and she came up with the idea of her ginger hair.

0:15:24 > 0:15:25The more she started thinking about

0:15:25 > 0:15:28the gingerbread and the ginger den and the ginger hair,

0:15:28 > 0:15:30she just came up with the idea about,

0:15:30 > 0:15:32"How about we make it a really positive den?"

0:15:32 > 0:15:34and "I have it as a place where I can go and chill out

0:15:34 > 0:15:37"and feel positive if I've had a hard day at school."

0:15:37 > 0:15:41So, why do you think Carrie deserves her den?

0:15:41 > 0:15:43Just really to have a place that's hers,

0:15:43 > 0:15:46because she's so used to doing stuff for everybody else.

0:15:46 > 0:15:49I think she deserves it just for being generally all-round lovely.

0:15:49 > 0:15:51I agree, fully agree.

0:15:52 > 0:15:55Back in the garden, and despite the windy conditions,

0:15:55 > 0:15:59the team are working double-time on the roof of the den.

0:15:59 > 0:16:01And whilst they crack on,

0:16:01 > 0:16:05Carrie and Tony have some serious choices to make...on paint.

0:16:05 > 0:16:08Right, Carrie, so we want to add a little bit of colour

0:16:08 > 0:16:09to the outside of your den,

0:16:09 > 0:16:12so shall we mix some paint and test it on here?

0:16:12 > 0:16:15To help pick the perfect colour for the outside of the den,

0:16:15 > 0:16:18Carrie and Tony test out various washes of paint

0:16:18 > 0:16:21by diluting it with water.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23OK, Carrie, so which one do you think's working best?

0:16:23 > 0:16:27- Well, I like the third one. - Yeah.- But I had an idea.

0:16:27 > 0:16:30What happened if we'd mix them both together?

0:16:30 > 0:16:33- OK, so it's like a unique colour for you.- Yeah.

0:16:33 > 0:16:35We could give it a go. Shall we try it?

0:16:35 > 0:16:37- Yeah, let's go.- All right.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Carrie's idea is to mix both the orange and the red paint together

0:16:40 > 0:16:42to create her very own colour.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44And after testing out

0:16:44 > 0:16:46a few different mixtures of paints and water,

0:16:46 > 0:16:47it's decision time.

0:16:47 > 0:16:50Right, Carrie, what do you think? Which one's your favourite?

0:16:50 > 0:16:52The one that really caught my eye was this one,

0:16:52 > 0:16:54because it's, I guess, a gingerbread theme,

0:16:54 > 0:16:56and it really works well with my den.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59Perfect. Well, we'll use that. Great.

0:16:59 > 0:17:02With the colour picked, Carrie and co crack on mixing

0:17:02 > 0:17:05a mega batch of the chosen wash of paint.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07I think we might...

0:17:07 > 0:17:09- I think we need a bit more of the red.- Yeah.

0:17:09 > 0:17:12Carrie and the Dengineers have to be really precise

0:17:12 > 0:17:14when mixing this wash.

0:17:14 > 0:17:15Whoa.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18They can't afford to have any errors with this task.

0:17:18 > 0:17:21If we get this wrong and we start painting it,

0:17:21 > 0:17:24and it won't fade back to that colour...

0:17:24 > 0:17:27- Which'll be a bit sad. - And we've only got one shot at it.

0:17:28 > 0:17:30With Carrie in charge, the team take their time

0:17:30 > 0:17:33and finally get the perfect paint wash for the den.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35Tony, I think this is our paint.

0:17:35 > 0:17:37All right. Well, let's splash it on.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39Carrie's been brilliant.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41She's really taken control of the whole project, really,

0:17:41 > 0:17:43and she's kind of bossing us around quite a bit,

0:17:43 > 0:17:45which is quite refreshing.

0:17:45 > 0:17:48The rough winds have finally died down,

0:17:48 > 0:17:50and the sun has come out in perfect time

0:17:50 > 0:17:53for the team to start painting the outside of the den.

0:17:54 > 0:17:57Oh, my gosh, this looks so good.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00We need to really have a name for this colour.

0:18:00 > 0:18:02What do you think we should call it?

0:18:02 > 0:18:04I think it should be named after you.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07- Car-red. Car-red.- Cred?

0:18:07 > 0:18:10- Car-range.- Car-range. Yeah.

0:18:10 > 0:18:12- OK, I like Car-range red. - Let's go with Car-range.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17The Dengineers work their socks off all afternoon,

0:18:17 > 0:18:21and it's not long until the den is painted and the roof is finished.

0:18:21 > 0:18:24BOTH CHEER

0:18:24 > 0:18:25Today I've had lots of fun,

0:18:25 > 0:18:30but my favourite bit was probably making my own colour of paint,

0:18:30 > 0:18:32which was car-range,

0:18:32 > 0:18:34and I really like the shade

0:18:34 > 0:18:36and it looks really, really great on the den.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39Carrie's worked really hard again. You can't stop her.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42I don't think we could've got this far without her.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45The Dengineers team are making brilliant progress with the den,

0:18:45 > 0:18:48so I think it's time for Carrie to take a break from the build.

0:18:52 > 0:18:55We are trading in this garden-cum-building site in Leeds

0:18:55 > 0:18:57for Wembley Arena in London,

0:18:57 > 0:19:01where 20,000 of Carrie's fellow Girl Guides have rocked up

0:19:01 > 0:19:03to see the Girl Guiding Big Gig.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05And headlining this massive gig is

0:19:05 > 0:19:09Carrie's favourite artist and fellow redhead, Jess Glynne.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12- Carrie, are you happy with these seats?- Yeah.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14- Are they good?- Yeah.

0:19:14 > 0:19:18Well, Carrie, we don't do just "good" on the Dengineers.

0:19:18 > 0:19:19- Amazing!- We...

0:19:21 > 0:19:23..have VIP seating.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26Do you want to sit here, or in these seats?

0:19:26 > 0:19:27In these seats.

0:19:28 > 0:19:30- Shall we go?- Yeah.- Come on.

0:19:30 > 0:19:34These VIP passes get our Carrie close to the action -

0:19:34 > 0:19:37and I mean mega close.

0:19:37 > 0:19:39Carrie, look where we're standing right now.

0:19:39 > 0:19:41- We're basically on the stage.- Yeah.

0:19:44 > 0:19:46Jess is about to take the stage,

0:19:46 > 0:19:49so it's time for me and Carrie to take our seats.

0:19:49 > 0:19:51Now it's time for the star the show.

0:19:54 > 0:19:55# Darling, hold my hand

0:19:57 > 0:19:59# Oh, won't you hold my hand?

0:20:01 > 0:20:05# Cos I don't wanna walk on my own any more

0:20:05 > 0:20:07# Won't you understand?

0:20:08 > 0:20:11# Cos I don't wanna walk alone

0:20:11 > 0:20:12# I'm ready for this

0:20:12 > 0:20:14# There's no denying

0:20:14 > 0:20:16# I'm ready for this

0:20:16 > 0:20:18# You stop me falling

0:20:18 > 0:20:20# I'm reading for this

0:20:20 > 0:20:21# I need you all in... #

0:20:21 > 0:20:24- Can you believe how close you are? - I know!

0:20:24 > 0:20:26# So, darling, hold my hand. #

0:20:29 > 0:20:33- Woo!- Wow!- That was awesome.

0:20:33 > 0:20:36It's been one of the best days. I will never forget it.

0:20:36 > 0:20:39It's just massive for me.

0:20:40 > 0:20:42Carrie's on top of the world.

0:20:42 > 0:20:44But there's still one last surprise.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46And this one is a belter.

0:20:46 > 0:20:48Home time. Yeah.

0:20:48 > 0:20:51What if I said we're going to go backstage

0:20:51 > 0:20:53and meet Jess Glynne herself?

0:20:54 > 0:20:57- Would you be up for that?- Yeah!

0:20:57 > 0:21:00- Are you sure, or do you want to go home?- No.- Let's go!

0:21:01 > 0:21:03Jess Glynne may be

0:21:03 > 0:21:06one of the biggest artists in the world right now,

0:21:06 > 0:21:08but that doesn't mean she hasn't got time for the Dengineers.

0:21:08 > 0:21:11So, Carrie, meet Jess. Jess, meet Carrie.

0:21:11 > 0:21:13- I like the colour of your hair. - Thanks!

0:21:13 > 0:21:15What have you got to say about the colour of your hair?

0:21:15 > 0:21:17What are you doing with the Dengineers?

0:21:17 > 0:21:20- Well, people used to tease me because of my hair colour...- Oh...

0:21:20 > 0:21:25..so I wanted to do a den to be proud of it and to be positive.

0:21:25 > 0:21:28- Yeah! Can I come?- Yeah. - Oh, wicked!

0:21:28 > 0:21:31- Would you let Jess into your den? - Yeah!- Oh, that's exciting.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33- I'm going to the ginger den when it's ready.- Yeah.

0:21:33 > 0:21:35- If you invite me, that is.- Yeah.

0:21:35 > 0:21:37- I think you'll definitely be invited, Jess.- Yeah.

0:21:37 > 0:21:38The ginger den!

0:21:41 > 0:21:44Meeting Jess Glynne was absolutely amazing.

0:21:44 > 0:21:45It was like a dream come true.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49I think I will take all the positiveness from today

0:21:49 > 0:21:51and take it to go in my den.

0:21:52 > 0:21:53Back at the den,

0:21:53 > 0:21:56the team are pushing on into day three of the build.

0:21:56 > 0:21:59And from here on in, Carrie won't see the den

0:21:59 > 0:22:01until the big reveal tomorrow.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04I'm really nervous about not seeing my den,

0:22:04 > 0:22:07but I'm putting all my trust into Satwinder and Tony

0:22:07 > 0:22:09and hoping that they'll do a good job.

0:22:09 > 0:22:14In the absence of Carrie, the Dengineers crack on with the build.

0:22:14 > 0:22:17But it's not long until the team hit a problem.

0:22:17 > 0:22:19About that much gap.

0:22:19 > 0:22:22It's a wonky door, so we're having a bit of trouble fitting it.

0:22:22 > 0:22:26It's vital that the door fits, so we've got to make time for it.

0:22:26 > 0:22:28Hopefully it doesn't mean we have to sacrifice a few other things.

0:22:28 > 0:22:32As soon as Carrie leaves, something goes wrong.

0:22:32 > 0:22:34Well, she's like the lead Dengineer, isn't she?

0:22:34 > 0:22:36And now she's gone, all these problems are coming up.

0:22:36 > 0:22:39- We need to get her back. - Where's she gone?

0:22:40 > 0:22:42The Dengineers team work together

0:22:42 > 0:22:44to find a solution to their door dilemma.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46- Yeah...- I sorted it.

0:22:48 > 0:22:50Time is ticking until the big reveal,

0:22:50 > 0:22:53and the Dengineers need to finish painting the inside of the den

0:22:53 > 0:22:54and lay the flooring,

0:22:54 > 0:22:56whilst Carrie customises

0:22:56 > 0:22:59her very own gingerbread man door knocker.

0:22:59 > 0:23:01As day three comes to an end,

0:23:01 > 0:23:03the team are mega happy with the den.

0:23:03 > 0:23:05We're absolutely delighted.

0:23:05 > 0:23:07I think Carrie's going to be really, really happy with it.

0:23:07 > 0:23:09- I hope so, I hope so. - I hope so, too.

0:23:12 > 0:23:14It's the morning of day four,

0:23:14 > 0:23:17and Carrie's den is looking in great shape for the big reveal

0:23:17 > 0:23:19in just a few hours' time.

0:23:20 > 0:23:23The team want this den looking perfect for the big reveal,

0:23:23 > 0:23:27so me and Satwinder do some paint touch-ups to the outside.

0:23:27 > 0:23:29And me and Tony customise the inside of the den.

0:23:29 > 0:23:31There you go. We better move on to the next thing.

0:23:31 > 0:23:32That's the pictures up.

0:23:32 > 0:23:35Whilst the team add the finishing touches,

0:23:35 > 0:23:36I catch up with Satwinder

0:23:36 > 0:23:40to find out the engineering behind the use of mirrors in this den.

0:23:40 > 0:23:44So what happens is, here's the desk, the mirror's in the corner.

0:23:44 > 0:23:46When you look through,

0:23:46 > 0:23:49it looks like the desk is just carrying on into the distance,

0:23:49 > 0:23:52so it makes that corner look bigger when you least expect it.

0:23:52 > 0:23:56- We've done it in that corner over there, as well.- Oh, yeah.

0:23:56 > 0:23:57Tony and Satwinder have used

0:23:57 > 0:24:00a tactic they call reflecting the corner,

0:24:00 > 0:24:03to create an illusion of more space in the den.

0:24:03 > 0:24:06So instead of seeing the desk come to an end at the wall,

0:24:06 > 0:24:09the mirror makes it look like you can see through the wall

0:24:09 > 0:24:13into an imaginary space where the desk goes on and on.

0:24:13 > 0:24:14- Last hook.- Last one.

0:24:14 > 0:24:16The big reveal is a matter of minutes away,

0:24:16 > 0:24:20and the Dengineers make one last push towards the finish line.

0:24:20 > 0:24:22How cool is that? Put that there.

0:24:22 > 0:24:24- Great stuff.- High five me. - Nice one.- Sorted.

0:24:34 > 0:24:38This patch of garden used to be home to a few plants and a tree.

0:24:38 > 0:24:40But Tony, Satwinder and the Dengineers

0:24:40 > 0:24:43have worked their magic over the past four days

0:24:43 > 0:24:44and transformed it into

0:24:44 > 0:24:47an incredible ginger house den for Carrie.

0:24:47 > 0:24:50The stage is set for the big reveal,

0:24:50 > 0:24:52and Carrie's friends, family and Girl Guide pals

0:24:52 > 0:24:54have arrived at the house to see the den.

0:24:54 > 0:24:56It has been absolutely brilliant

0:24:56 > 0:24:58having the Dengineers take over my house.

0:24:58 > 0:24:59I wouldn't have had it any other way.
