0:00:09 > 0:00:12- Dens for adventure... - It's a secret door!

0:00:12 > 0:00:16- Hanging out with your friends and family...- Crazy!

0:00:16 > 0:00:20- Yeah!- And dens built to fulfil your dreams.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22Amazing. Thank you so much.

0:00:22 > 0:00:26Whatever your idea, the Dengineers team are here to transform your

0:00:26 > 0:00:29inspiration into amazing spaces.

0:00:29 > 0:00:31- Wow!- Built especially for you.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34- ALL:- This den is done!

0:00:34 > 0:00:38CHEERING

0:00:38 > 0:00:40Merry Christmas!

0:00:45 > 0:00:46Whoa!

0:00:54 > 0:00:58Today, we're going to surprise one lucky boy here in Essex and help him

0:00:58 > 0:00:59build his dream den.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02We're doing the surprise right here at his house.

0:01:02 > 0:01:04He's on his way home, so we need to get things set up.

0:01:04 > 0:01:06It's going to be...

0:01:06 > 0:01:09- Marble-lous.- A-balling. - Oh, that's good.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11- You like that?- Yeah, yeah.

0:01:15 > 0:01:18Today's Dengineer is nine-year-old Ocean from Essex.

0:01:20 > 0:01:24I need help from the Dengineers because I love to design and make

0:01:24 > 0:01:28marble runs and roller-coasters, but I don't have the space to do it.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30Ocean is a budding roller-coaster designer

0:01:30 > 0:01:31and constructing marble runs

0:01:31 > 0:01:34is the closest way he can work towards his dream.

0:01:34 > 0:01:36Ocean's always loved roller-coasters,

0:01:36 > 0:01:37ever since he was really little.

0:01:37 > 0:01:42There was a small theme park near us and he went on a tiny little

0:01:42 > 0:01:44apple roller-coaster and absolutely loved it

0:01:44 > 0:01:46and wanted to go again and again.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48Life has been full of ups and downs for Ocean.

0:01:48 > 0:01:52A couple of years ago, his younger brother, Sky, passed away.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54It was obviously a tough time for the family.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58Sky was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was 13 months.

0:01:58 > 0:02:00They were so close, you know, almost inseparable.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03They did everything together and, all through his illness,

0:02:03 > 0:02:06Ocean just looked after him whenever he could.

0:02:06 > 0:02:08He was just always there for him.

0:02:08 > 0:02:11We've got such great memories of them having just fun

0:02:11 > 0:02:12together as brothers.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17The biggest thing I miss about my brother is how he was very

0:02:17 > 0:02:20enthusiastic and very funny,

0:02:20 > 0:02:23and you would never know what he was going to do next.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26Thankfully, the house got a little louder recently when the newest

0:02:26 > 0:02:28addition to the family came along.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31This is baby Coral Sky.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34And she's joined us a few months ago.

0:02:34 > 0:02:35Ocean absolutely adores her.

0:02:35 > 0:02:38Yeah, we feel she was sent from Sky, don't we...

0:02:38 > 0:02:40- Yeah, definitely.- ..to get us up in the morning.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44I think Ocean deserves this den because of the way

0:02:44 > 0:02:45he's been so brave.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49He's never put himself first, he's always thought about everybody else,

0:02:49 > 0:02:52and this is just a treat for him.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55Please, Dengineers, I need your help.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58Don't you worry, Ocean. Our help is exactly what you're going to get.

0:02:58 > 0:02:59You just don't know it yet.

0:03:02 > 0:03:05Ocean has been at a sleepover and is due home any minute,

0:03:05 > 0:03:08which means we've only got a short amount of time to get everything

0:03:08 > 0:03:10ready in the house for the big surprise.

0:03:10 > 0:03:11- Let's get in there.- Come on.

0:03:14 > 0:03:18We need to get a move on, rigging the house with our secret cameras,

0:03:18 > 0:03:21but that's not all we have to set up.

0:03:21 > 0:03:23We're building our very own Dengineers marble run

0:03:23 > 0:03:25that's going to lead Ocean right into his surprise.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29Time for a test run.

0:03:29 > 0:03:33- Here we go.- Yes, yes. - Come on!- Yes!

0:03:33 > 0:03:35Works like a dream, my friend.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36- High five.- Sorted.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Ocean's minutes away, so we need to get everybody into position.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43Are you guys ready? Are you guys excited?

0:03:43 > 0:03:47- Yes.- They've arrived home, so it's time to get this ball rolling.

0:03:47 > 0:03:48Right, OK.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54What's that?

0:03:54 > 0:03:55Oh, look.

0:03:57 > 0:03:58Where's it going? Follow it down.

0:04:02 > 0:04:06Where's it going?

0:04:06 > 0:04:09- Hi! Hello.- Hello, Ocean.

0:04:09 > 0:04:10- How are you doing?- Good.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12My name is Lauren and this is Joe,

0:04:12 > 0:04:15and we are from CBBC's The Dengineers.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18And, mate, we're going to build you your very own marble run den.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20- Are you excited?- Yeah.

0:04:20 > 0:04:21How do you feel?

0:04:21 > 0:04:25First of all, I saw the marble run and I was like,

0:04:25 > 0:04:27"What on earth could this be?"

0:04:27 > 0:04:31But then when I came round the corner seeing all the cameras,

0:04:31 > 0:04:34I was like, "Oh, my gosh, can it actually be the Dengineers?"

0:04:34 > 0:04:37So I was really, really shocked and happy.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39He is really, really excited.

0:04:39 > 0:04:42He's got some great ideas that he wants to build,

0:04:42 > 0:04:43and he can't wait to get started.

0:04:43 > 0:04:45Well, we can't stand here talking about it all day,

0:04:45 > 0:04:47so shall we get this show on the road?

0:04:47 > 0:04:49- Yeah.- Yeah?- Let's do it, guys.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Give him a massive round of applause. Yeah!

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Our first port of call is the Dengineers mobile HQ,

0:04:57 > 0:05:00which has some mega cool technology to get Ocean's den rolling.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05Welcome to the Dengineers mobile HQ, Ocean.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08So, in here, Ocean, is where we're going to take all of the ideas that

0:05:08 > 0:05:11you've got fizzing around in your mind, get them onto this big screen

0:05:11 > 0:05:13and come up with the design for your den.

0:05:13 > 0:05:17So, if you see anything you like, just grab it and slide it up, OK?

0:05:17 > 0:05:19- OK.- Awesome. Let's get stuck in, shall we?

0:05:19 > 0:05:21Right, now, before we start, who's in this picture, here?

0:05:21 > 0:05:23Here's my dad.

0:05:23 > 0:05:28- Yeah.- That's me and my mum there, and that's my brother, Sky, there.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30There you go, there's you and your brother, Sky.

0:05:30 > 0:05:32Oh, you guys look so cute.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34We're going to get a den that he's going to be proud of, all right?

0:05:34 > 0:05:38- Yeah.- What sort of shape would you actually like the den to be?

0:05:38 > 0:05:41Like, a marble shape, one like this.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43And that's for the outside, so like a giant circle?

0:05:43 > 0:05:46- Yeah.- What do you want to do inside?

0:05:46 > 0:05:50Well, I'm going to have a sketch room so I can plan out

0:05:50 > 0:05:53my designs for my future roller-coasters.

0:05:53 > 0:05:56Anything else inside that you want maybe to play with?

0:05:56 > 0:06:00Well, some marble runs, they have like a little maze section,

0:06:00 > 0:06:05where there is a whole big maze in the walls and marbles go down it.

0:06:05 > 0:06:08- That's a good idea. I like that. - Something a bit like that.

0:06:08 > 0:06:10I see what you mean.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13If you could have one thing to make it really special,

0:06:13 > 0:06:14what do you think you'd have?

0:06:14 > 0:06:19I'd really like just a room with me and Sky in it,

0:06:19 > 0:06:21with like a nice beanbag in there

0:06:21 > 0:06:23and pictures around with Sky in it.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25That would be amazing,

0:06:25 > 0:06:28because then that means that you can always think about all the fun times

0:06:28 > 0:06:29you had together.

0:06:29 > 0:06:32Well, I must say, Ocean, this looks absolutely amazing.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35- Are you happy?- Yes.- Excellent stuff. One last question, though.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38- Where's it going to go?- Well, I've got a bit in the back of the garden

0:06:38 > 0:06:40but there's a few weeds there.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43- I'm sure you could just chuck them out.- We can chuck them out.

0:06:43 > 0:06:45- Do a bit of weeding. - Do a bit of raking.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47Come on, let's go and have a look at it.

0:06:47 > 0:06:50Ocean has chosen the shape of a marble for his den,

0:06:50 > 0:06:54a maze-inspired wall, a work station where he can draw his designs,

0:06:54 > 0:06:57and a space to relax and remember his brother, Sky.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01So, this is the spot where the den is going to go, is that right?

0:07:01 > 0:07:03- Yeah.- Awesome. - A few weeds, you said.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06There's quite a few weeds here to clear, but I reckon we can crack

0:07:06 > 0:07:10- on with it, can't we?- Yeah.- Right, come on, get cracking, shall we?

0:07:14 > 0:07:17So many weeds here.

0:07:17 > 0:07:20It's proving to be a pretty big job, so dad helps out, too.

0:07:22 > 0:07:24How does it get everywhere?

0:07:27 > 0:07:30I'm starting to get just a little bit nervous with Ocean

0:07:30 > 0:07:32having all the control over the garden now.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35I might have bitten off more than I can chew here, everybody.

0:07:35 > 0:07:39- That's where the spider is, Joe! - Argh!

0:07:40 > 0:07:43The biggest fear is that he'll build something that is just too big for

0:07:43 > 0:07:44the garden, and take over.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48You know what? I think we're doing all right here, guys.

0:07:48 > 0:07:50- It's coming along now, isn't it? - Yeah.

0:07:50 > 0:07:51A little bit more and we'll be there.

0:07:51 > 0:07:54And in no time at all, the space is cleared.

0:07:56 > 0:07:58Well done, everybody. Thank you, Dad, that was brilliant.

0:07:58 > 0:08:01- No problem.- Thank you.- From here on in though, Dad,

0:08:01 > 0:08:04I'm afraid to say it is Dengineers only.

0:08:04 > 0:08:06Which means you have to get out of here.

0:08:06 > 0:08:10- Sorry.- See you later.- Toodle-oo. - Bye.

0:08:10 > 0:08:11With the corner of the garden ready,

0:08:11 > 0:08:14the Dengineers team can get cracking with the den.

0:08:16 > 0:08:19And we've got the perfect designers to make Ocean's dreams a reality.

0:08:21 > 0:08:22Meet Tony and Satwinder.

0:08:22 > 0:08:26They're both awesome architects and lecturers who between them have

0:08:26 > 0:08:3040 years' experience designing sensational structures.

0:08:30 > 0:08:33They're the dream duo for this den.

0:08:33 > 0:08:34So thank you for clearing out the space.

0:08:34 > 0:08:38It looks great, so we were having a think about the den and the shape

0:08:38 > 0:08:42that it would take, and if you think about a marble shape, it's round.

0:08:42 > 0:08:44It might be a bit tight for space,

0:08:44 > 0:08:48so we've had some other ideas that might even be even more spectacular.

0:08:48 > 0:08:51- Yeah.- And so inside, you needed a place to design,

0:08:51 > 0:08:53because you're a budding roller-coaster designer,

0:08:53 > 0:08:56so you want to be able to test out ideas and sketch things.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59So another idea that we've had is the fact that you could have a huge

0:08:59 > 0:09:03marble run, like an entire wall of your den could be a marble run.

0:09:03 > 0:09:05- How does that sound?- Really amazing.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07- Oh, wow!- And then the other thing we thought,

0:09:07 > 0:09:10you'd want somewhere that's kind of quiet and chilled out,

0:09:10 > 0:09:14you can kind of look out into the sky and think about your brother.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16We thought that would be a nice kind of calm, relaxing space.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19- How about that?- Good.- Awesome.

0:09:19 > 0:09:23Tony and Satwinder have designed a den that will capture the feeling of

0:09:23 > 0:09:24a marble on the move.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Inside the den there'll be a desk,

0:09:26 > 0:09:29where Ocean can let his imagination run wild,

0:09:29 > 0:09:31and a giant magnetic marble run wall,

0:09:31 > 0:09:33where he can bring his ideas to life.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36The feature window is shaped like a marble and also doubles up

0:09:36 > 0:09:38as a seat where Ocean can relax.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42What do you think about all of our ideas?

0:09:42 > 0:09:46They're all fantastic. I love the big marble run idea.

0:09:46 > 0:09:47Brilliant, that's great.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49Excellent, let's get on with it.

0:09:51 > 0:09:54With Tony and Satwinder's ideas signed off,

0:09:54 > 0:09:56the ground works can begin.

0:09:56 > 0:09:57It's going to be a really big job.

0:09:57 > 0:10:01The shape of it is not the most straightforward.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03Yeah. We're trying some new things and I think we can do it,

0:10:03 > 0:10:04it'll be great.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06Yeah, I think it'll be awesome.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11And Tony and Satwinder are making sure there's no room for error.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14I really liked Tony and Satwinder's ideas.

0:10:14 > 0:10:16I think they're the right people for the job,

0:10:16 > 0:10:18because they've got that enthusiasm and that spirit.

0:10:20 > 0:10:22Ocean gets stuck in, too.

0:10:22 > 0:10:24And what's the best part of the ground works?

0:10:26 > 0:10:29Having a go on the whacker, of course...

0:10:31 > 0:10:34..which will prep the base for the solid slabs to be laid.

0:10:36 > 0:10:40And with the last few slabs laid, the ground works are complete.

0:10:40 > 0:10:44MUSIC PLAYS

0:10:47 > 0:10:51It's day one of the build and the Dengineers have definitely arrived.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54First things first, we need to set up our mountain of kit.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00And we're off. The base is laid and the walls are put up.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02The team are making really good progress.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07That needs to come that way a little bit.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14- Wow!- And we're not even halfway through the first day of the build.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20With the Dengineers working hard, I get painting with Ocean.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22I really love painting.

0:11:22 > 0:11:26Can you actually believe that your den is going up as we speak?

0:11:26 > 0:11:28- No.- So cool.

0:11:28 > 0:11:33One question I've got, have you got any idea what these are for?

0:11:33 > 0:11:35No.

0:11:35 > 0:11:39The main structure of the den is up, so it's time for Ocean to have his

0:11:39 > 0:11:43- first look.- Oh, hello. - Hello.- How are you?

0:11:43 > 0:11:45- Good.- What do you think so far?

0:11:45 > 0:11:46- It looks really good.- Excellent.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49Do you like the big round window we've put at the front?

0:11:49 > 0:11:52- Yeah.- When you're inside, you're going to have a special seat

0:11:52 > 0:11:55- in the window.- Yeah.- You'll be able to lie there, chill out in the den,

0:11:55 > 0:11:57but also look back to the house as well.

0:11:57 > 0:12:00- Yeah.- You happy so far? - Definitely.- All right, good stuff.

0:12:02 > 0:12:06The next big job of the day is getting the roof on.

0:12:06 > 0:12:08There you go.

0:12:08 > 0:12:09But there's a problem.

0:12:09 > 0:12:13Don't do anything. It's twisted somewhere, isn't it?

0:12:13 > 0:12:16Push it all towards you a bit, David, if you can.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20So what is happening now is the walls are in and we're trying to get

0:12:20 > 0:12:23the roof portion to fit in.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26If these walls are just slightly not square, it will mean this won't fit,

0:12:26 > 0:12:29so what they're doing now is just altering this a little bit

0:12:29 > 0:12:32and with a little bit of patience and a bit of time,

0:12:32 > 0:12:35it will just pop in. And that's a natural thing that happens when

0:12:35 > 0:12:38you're putting different pieces of materials together.

0:12:38 > 0:12:41- Watch those fingers.- Yeah.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44- There we go.- There you go.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47What's happened now is the roof has just nicely slotted into the top,

0:12:47 > 0:12:49so it's worked really well.

0:12:50 > 0:12:54And with the roof slotted into place, it's time to tackle the

0:12:54 > 0:12:57upcycle and Tony has an amazing idea, using this table.

0:13:03 > 0:13:06Right, Ocean, so you said you wanted a marble maze, so we thought we

0:13:06 > 0:13:09could make one out of an ordinary table and we've already

0:13:09 > 0:13:13marked out where the maze might go, and then using these bricks...

0:13:13 > 0:13:16- Yeah.- ..we'll glue them on to form the maze and then

0:13:16 > 0:13:17we'll put a top on it.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22The first thing they need to do is drill a hole in the middle,

0:13:22 > 0:13:25so when the marble gets to the end of the maze it can drop through.

0:13:27 > 0:13:28Precision stuff.

0:13:30 > 0:13:32The next stage is for Tony and Ocean to make the maze

0:13:32 > 0:13:35with building blocks.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37And in no time at all, the maze takes shape.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41With the maze complete, it's time to test it out.

0:13:41 > 0:13:42Round the outside.

0:13:45 > 0:13:47Hey, perfect.

0:13:47 > 0:13:49So the next time you see this, it'll be all finished,

0:13:49 > 0:13:50in your finished den.

0:13:57 > 0:14:00Yes. That's so satisfying.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04The build today is coming along really well.

0:14:04 > 0:14:06All the structure is up.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08It was a bit tricky getting the roof on.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11Yeah, that was tough. The form looks fantastic, especially against the

0:14:11 > 0:14:13tree, which is brilliant, so that's what we wanted.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16Yeah, and the view that you'll get from the house and the view back,

0:14:16 > 0:14:19- I think will be the icing on the cake.- Yeah.

0:14:19 > 0:14:24I was really amazed how Satwinder and Tony had produced my den.

0:14:24 > 0:14:27It's looking very good and I really like the size of it.

0:14:27 > 0:14:30So all in all, it's been a pretty good day for the Dengineers.

0:14:30 > 0:14:33Let's hope that day two is just as productive.

0:14:38 > 0:14:41With an early start, the team are quick off the mark once again.

0:14:45 > 0:14:48- Hi, Tony.- Hi, Ocean, how are you doing?

0:14:48 > 0:14:51- Good.- Good. Can you give us a hand with this?

0:14:51 > 0:14:53Yeah. So what are we doing, here?

0:14:53 > 0:14:57Well, this is going to be a steel wall for the back of your den,

0:14:57 > 0:15:00so it'll be magnetic, but it's a bit dirty and we need to clean it.

0:15:00 > 0:15:02- OK.- So you need to put on a mask and the gloves

0:15:02 > 0:15:06- and then you can give me a hand polishing it.- Yeah.

0:15:06 > 0:15:09Tony and Ocean are using white spirit to clean the metal,

0:15:09 > 0:15:12so they have to make sure they're wearing the right safety gear.

0:15:15 > 0:15:18And with Ocean hard at work, I want to find out from Mum and Dad why

0:15:18 > 0:15:20this den will mean the world to him.

0:15:23 > 0:15:25I just wanted to ask you about Ocean, really,

0:15:25 > 0:15:27and what sort of boy is he?

0:15:27 > 0:15:29Amazing. He's been through so much and yet all the time

0:15:29 > 0:15:32he's got a smile on his face. He'd give absolutely anything a go.

0:15:32 > 0:15:35Just everything about him makes us so proud.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37He's a very determined little boy, so when he puts his mind to

0:15:37 > 0:15:39something, he will get there and he will do it.

0:15:39 > 0:15:40Oh, yeah, it will be done.

0:15:40 > 0:15:43I know you've been through a lot. Will you tell me about Sky?

0:15:43 > 0:15:47Sky was diagnosed with a brain tumour when he was just 13 months,

0:15:47 > 0:15:50and he then went through three years of treatment for that,

0:15:50 > 0:15:51and that was really hard.

0:15:51 > 0:15:53We spent a lot of time in and out of hospital.

0:15:53 > 0:15:55He had chemo every two weeks.

0:15:55 > 0:15:58Ocean spent a lot of time as well in and out of hospitals.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00He was by your side through all of it.

0:16:00 > 0:16:02- Yeah.- By our side, holding his hand, yeah. Absolutely.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04Why does Ocean deserve the den?

0:16:04 > 0:16:07Everything he's been through the last few years with his brother,

0:16:07 > 0:16:11Sky, it's not held him back in any way.

0:16:11 > 0:16:15He's always been determined to keep pushing through and he's been

0:16:15 > 0:16:17- smashing, hasn't he?- Oh, yeah.

0:16:17 > 0:16:19He helps us to get through every day.

0:16:19 > 0:16:21And he's never wanted anything for himself,

0:16:21 > 0:16:23he does loads for other people, so this will be awesome for him.

0:16:23 > 0:16:25- Yeah.- It will be absolutely fantastic.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29Just his little space on his own.

0:16:29 > 0:16:31Back at the build, the den is really taking shape

0:16:31 > 0:16:33and everyone is getting stuck in.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37But before any more decorating takes place,

0:16:37 > 0:16:39Tony just wants to make sure that the roof is doing its job.

0:16:41 > 0:16:44- Fingers crossed.- Fingers crossed.

0:16:44 > 0:16:47- How is it looking, David? - It looks really good.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53And with that good news, it's time to put in one of the biggest

0:16:53 > 0:16:54features of this den.

0:16:54 > 0:16:58Tony and Satwinder are making a huge marble run out of steel

0:16:58 > 0:17:00that Ocean can adjust and play with,

0:17:00 > 0:17:02so I'm going to find out how it works.

0:17:02 > 0:17:05What's beautiful about this steel is it's magnetic.

0:17:05 > 0:17:07It's got north property,

0:17:07 > 0:17:10so what that means is this is south property and...

0:17:10 > 0:17:12North attracts south.

0:17:12 > 0:17:14- Exactly.- Magnets.

0:17:14 > 0:17:17So they come together and they connect,

0:17:17 > 0:17:21so it's kind of like invisible glue, which is how a magnet works.

0:17:22 > 0:17:26The two ends of a magnet are called poles, north pole and south pole.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29Both of them have a magnetic charge.

0:17:29 > 0:17:31Magnets are attracted to the opposite pole,

0:17:31 > 0:17:34so north attracts south and the same poles repel each other.

0:17:34 > 0:17:36They push each other away.

0:17:36 > 0:17:40So what we've done is we've taken the magnets and we've fitted them to

0:17:40 > 0:17:42these pieces of timber, OK?

0:17:42 > 0:17:44So there are the magnets, there and there.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46So that goes on there, like that.

0:17:46 > 0:17:50Then we've got a longer piece here, which has got three magnets on it,

0:17:50 > 0:17:52and we put that on there like that.

0:17:53 > 0:17:57- Have you got a marble?- Yes, I have, I'm so glad you asked that.

0:17:57 > 0:17:59Well, why don't you give it a roll and see what happens.

0:18:01 > 0:18:03- Yeah!- Wahey! It works.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10Yesterday was all about the structure,

0:18:10 > 0:18:11but we needed to get inside today.

0:18:11 > 0:18:13There's still a load to do tomorrow.

0:18:13 > 0:18:15It's all about the trims and finishing.

0:18:15 > 0:18:16I think we're on schedule,

0:18:16 > 0:18:21but we need to keep at it to make sure we get finished on time.

0:18:21 > 0:18:24I really like the disc and the massive round window,

0:18:24 > 0:18:29because I can see where my mum and dad are coming out, so I can hide.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31I definitely think this den is going to be done in time.

0:18:31 > 0:18:36I think the Dengineers can definitely build my dream den.

0:18:37 > 0:18:38Morning.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45It's day three and time for the Dengineers to get back to business.

0:18:47 > 0:18:51Tony and Satwinder want to create the illusion of a marble rolling,

0:18:51 > 0:18:54so the first tricky job for the team is to attach red beams,

0:18:54 > 0:18:55one at a time.

0:18:55 > 0:18:58We've got this plastic surface and we're putting loads of

0:18:58 > 0:19:01holes in it, and it could crack, so we've got to be really careful.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03We've only got one shot at this.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06We can't get it wrong, so there's no chance to replace anything.

0:19:06 > 0:19:09Leaving the rest of the team with that delicate job,

0:19:09 > 0:19:11it's time for Ocean to take a back-seat.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14This is the last time he'll see his den before the big reveal.

0:19:14 > 0:19:16We've got some big surprises coming in now,

0:19:16 > 0:19:18so we're going to have to say goodbye.

0:19:18 > 0:19:21You've been an amazing help, but it's time to go now.

0:19:21 > 0:19:23- Cheers.- See you later.- Thanks.

0:19:23 > 0:19:26The past three days have been really good.

0:19:26 > 0:19:31Everybody is getting stuck in and I'm getting really excited to see

0:19:31 > 0:19:32the den tomorrow.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35While the rest of the team work on the finer details,

0:19:35 > 0:19:37I've got a great treat for Ocean.

0:19:40 > 0:19:44I've brought him to one of Britain's busiest theme parks, to get some

0:19:44 > 0:19:46inspiration for his future career as a roller-coaster designer.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49- Have you been on that one? - No.- Have you not?

0:19:49 > 0:19:50- We could do that.- Yeah.

0:19:51 > 0:19:53First stop, we meet Dominic,

0:19:53 > 0:19:56who's worked in theme parks all over the world.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59If anyone knows what makes a good roller-coaster, it's this guy.

0:20:00 > 0:20:04Dominic has very kindly come over to show us round today.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06So why do you want to be a roller-coaster designer, Ocean?

0:20:06 > 0:20:10Well, I've always liked the thrill of roller-coasters and I've always

0:20:10 > 0:20:12wanted to entertain people.

0:20:12 > 0:20:15- Brilliant.- And is it designing it from a creative point of view,

0:20:15 > 0:20:17or designing it from a technical point of view?

0:20:17 > 0:20:20- Which one are you interested in? - Creative.- Creative. Oh, fantastic.

0:20:21 > 0:20:25Dom gives us a behind-the-scenes exclusive and takes us

0:20:25 > 0:20:26into the Swarm workshop.

0:20:26 > 0:20:30This roller-coaster reaches a maximum speed of nearly 60mph

0:20:30 > 0:20:33with nothing above or below you.

0:20:33 > 0:20:37How abouts did you come up with the idea of this design?

0:20:37 > 0:20:40Something like this takes about three to four years in the making.

0:20:40 > 0:20:43So we get our creative people and they think, right,

0:20:43 > 0:20:44well, what can we do?

0:20:44 > 0:20:47This was like an alien beast kind of explosion.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49Then we go and start creating it.

0:20:49 > 0:20:51What qualities do you look for in a designer?

0:20:51 > 0:20:55So for a technical designer, it's engineering, maths and science.

0:20:55 > 0:20:57You need to do well at school in them, and then for a creative

0:20:57 > 0:21:01designer, it's coming up with imaginative ideas, so the Swarm,

0:21:01 > 0:21:04coming up with the theme of an alien and then telling that story.

0:21:04 > 0:21:06- Yeah.- Right, I want to see what you guys are like

0:21:06 > 0:21:08- at roller-coaster designing. - OK, great.

0:21:12 > 0:21:16Dom's challenge for us is to design our very own roller-coasters.

0:21:16 > 0:21:17- Have you named yours?- Yeah.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20Fury Flame, that's a really good name.

0:21:21 > 0:21:24And we can probably guess who's going to win this one.

0:21:24 > 0:21:27OK, my ride is called Malcolm's Fury Omelette.

0:21:27 > 0:21:30- What do you reckon?- I think my money is on Ocean.

0:21:31 > 0:21:35- Right, Ocean, what have you got? - My ride is called Fury Flame.

0:21:35 > 0:21:40- Wow.- You do a loop the loop and you have a double spiral

0:21:40 > 0:21:43and you have a 70mph bit.

0:21:43 > 0:21:45Love it. You guys have done really well today.

0:21:45 > 0:21:47I've got a treat. Come on, follow me.

0:21:47 > 0:21:49And what a treat it is.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52OK, so in order to be a good ride designer,

0:21:52 > 0:21:54you've got to experience all the different forces,

0:21:54 > 0:21:56so we're going to go on the UK's first wind coaster.

0:21:56 > 0:21:58- Ready to go?- Yes.- Let's do this.

0:21:59 > 0:22:01Looks like Ocean is well up for this.

0:22:02 > 0:22:04I, on the other hand, am a little bit nervous.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18It's going to be brilliant. You ready to spin?

0:22:18 > 0:22:20- Yeah.- Here we go.

0:22:20 > 0:22:24So what's great about this ride is it spins you 180 degrees before

0:22:24 > 0:22:27plummeting down a 127 foot drop.

0:22:27 > 0:22:29Argh!

0:22:32 > 0:22:36And the track is as long as two Olympic sized running tracks,

0:22:36 > 0:22:40or 127 great white sharks.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42Whoa!

0:22:46 > 0:22:50Woo! Did you like that?

0:22:50 > 0:22:51- Yeah.- Brilliant.

0:22:51 > 0:22:56It's been an amazing day today just getting to see behind-the-scenes.

0:22:57 > 0:22:59I definitely enjoyed the ride,

0:22:59 > 0:23:02because of the force pushing you back.

0:23:02 > 0:23:06- In the end, it's just an amazing experience.- Whoa!

0:23:07 > 0:23:09What an incredible day out for Ocean.

0:23:09 > 0:23:11I'm not sure Joe enjoyed it as much though.

0:23:11 > 0:23:14Oh, oh!

0:23:17 > 0:23:21Back at the build, the team are working flat out to get the den

0:23:21 > 0:23:23finished in time for the big reveal tomorrow.

0:23:26 > 0:23:29And the last piece of the jigsaw is about to go in.

0:23:29 > 0:23:33The window is kind of the centrepiece of the design, really.

0:23:33 > 0:23:35It's representative of a marble.

0:23:35 > 0:23:37Down, down. Right, you're on.

0:23:37 > 0:23:40It is a bit nerve-racking, because it's a big sheet,

0:23:40 > 0:23:42it could crack, and it's plastic again,

0:23:42 > 0:23:45so it's the same problems we had with the batons.

0:23:47 > 0:23:52Once it's securely fixed in, all that's left is to unveil the window.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55MUSIC PLAYS

0:24:04 > 0:24:07- Go on. It looks really good.- Wicked.

0:24:07 > 0:24:09Really nerve-racking getting the window on,

0:24:09 > 0:24:11but it went on beautifully.

0:24:11 > 0:24:13They've done a great job and no cracking,

0:24:13 > 0:24:17and we've got the batons on and no cracking, so we're really happy.

0:24:17 > 0:24:18Day three has been a really big day.

0:24:19 > 0:24:21It's looking amazing.

0:24:21 > 0:24:23We just need to make sure it's looking its absolute best tomorrow,

0:24:23 > 0:24:26and we hope that Ocean and his family love it.

0:24:32 > 0:24:35With the big reveal looming in just a few hours' time,

0:24:35 > 0:24:38the Dengineers have to get this den looking as good on the inside as it

0:24:38 > 0:24:41- does on the outside.- Wrong way.

0:24:41 > 0:24:42- Oh, wrong way.- That way.

0:24:43 > 0:24:46And Tony and Satwinder are smashing the clean-up operation.

0:24:49 > 0:24:51But there's no time for sitting around.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54Ocean's family and friends have arrived.

0:24:54 > 0:24:56I'm really excited to see the den.

0:24:56 > 0:24:58When I last saw it, it looked really amazing.

0:24:58 > 0:25:02Tony and Satwinder have definitely put in all their ideas.

0:25:02 > 0:25:05It's been very tempting to have a quick peek, but we haven't.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09We've been very good. I'm not sure if we're worried about it or not.

0:25:09 > 0:25:11- Slightly nervous. - Don't worry, Mum and Dad,

0:25:11 > 0:25:13it's time to get this ball rolling.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26This part of the garden was unused and neglected.

0:25:28 > 0:25:32But Tony and Satwinder have pulled it out of the bag once more.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35The den is a marble-lous masterpiece.

0:25:35 > 0:25:40- Guys, are you ready to see the den? ALL:- Yes!

0:25:40 > 0:25:42Three, two, one.

0:25:44 > 0:25:45Oh!

0:25:46 > 0:25:49A stunned silence there. What do you think, Ocean?

0:25:49 > 0:25:51I think it's really amazing.

0:25:51 > 0:25:53Mum and Dad, what do you think?

0:25:53 > 0:25:55- It's absolutely amazing. - Yeah, no, that's incredible.

0:25:55 > 0:25:58I could never have imagined it looking like this.

0:25:58 > 0:25:59Absolutely fantastic.

0:26:00 > 0:26:02Using racing red stripes,

0:26:02 > 0:26:06Tony and Satwinder have really given this den a sense of movement and the

0:26:06 > 0:26:08marbles in the window are a touch of brilliance.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12There is some pretty special stuff that we've got in there.

0:26:12 > 0:26:15- Shall we go in?- Yeah. - Come on, mate.

0:26:19 > 0:26:21- What do you think of this? - It looks amazing.

0:26:21 > 0:26:24Good, isn't it? Now, you asked for a design station where you can start

0:26:24 > 0:26:27getting your roller-coaster designs together,

0:26:27 > 0:26:29so that's what we've got you here.

0:26:29 > 0:26:31As well as the fully equipped desk,

0:26:31 > 0:26:36there's the upcycled maze table and a place for Ocean to relax in.

0:26:36 > 0:26:39So one of the things you wanted, Ocean, for your den,

0:26:39 > 0:26:42was a place where you could come and sit and remember Sky,

0:26:42 > 0:26:44so we've created this awesome area.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47- What do you think?- I think it's really clever.

0:26:47 > 0:26:48He would love this place.

0:26:48 > 0:26:50Oh, I'm so, so glad.

0:26:50 > 0:26:54And I must say, I think my favourite bit in this whole den

0:26:54 > 0:27:00is the magnetic wall, so on this we can now build endless marble runs.

0:27:00 > 0:27:02Literally the best wall I've ever seen.

0:27:02 > 0:27:05I think my den is absolutely amazing.

0:27:05 > 0:27:08It's probably the best thing ever.

0:27:08 > 0:27:11I would give up all my birthday presents just for this den.

0:27:11 > 0:27:13- Shall we get Mum and Dad in?- Yeah.

0:27:13 > 0:27:15- Mum and Dad?- Come in.

0:27:15 > 0:27:18- Come and have a look. - Come and have a look.

0:27:18 > 0:27:20Oh, wow.

0:27:20 > 0:27:23- This is incredible, isn't it? - It's amazing.

0:27:23 > 0:27:26What a great view, you can watch everything out of the window.

0:27:26 > 0:27:29The den is amazing. It's more than I ever thought it would be

0:27:29 > 0:27:32- and just the little touches. - It's just brilliant.

0:27:32 > 0:27:34Do you think Tony and Satwinder have done a good job?
