0:00:09 > 0:00:10Dens for adventure...

0:00:13 > 0:00:16..hanging out with your friends and family...

0:00:16 > 0:00:18Amazing!

0:00:18 > 0:00:20..and dens built to fulfil your dreams.

0:00:20 > 0:00:22It's amazing, thank you so much!

0:00:22 > 0:00:25Whatever your idea, the Dengineers team are here

0:00:25 > 0:00:28to transform your inspiration into amazing spaces...

0:00:28 > 0:00:30Wow!

0:00:30 > 0:00:31..built especially for you.

0:00:31 > 0:00:34- This...- Den...- Is...- Done!

0:00:37 > 0:00:40Merry Christma-a-as!

0:00:45 > 0:00:46Whoa!

0:00:54 > 0:00:56Today we are here on the shores of Loch Ness to surprise

0:00:56 > 0:00:59two lucky brothers and help them build their dream den.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Now, I've heard there are monsters round these parts,

0:01:02 > 0:01:05so we're going to have to stop NESSIE-ing about!

0:01:05 > 0:01:08That was awful. Let's meet today's Dengineers...

0:01:13 > 0:01:17Today's Dengineers are brothers Alec and William from Inverness.

0:01:17 > 0:01:21We need help from the Dengineers because we live in

0:01:21 > 0:01:22the Scottish Highlands,

0:01:22 > 0:01:25and where we live on a farm, there's not much to do.

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Unfortunately, the two brothers currently share a bedroom

0:01:28 > 0:01:30with their younger brother, Charlie.

0:01:30 > 0:01:34There's no room in the bedroom for them to do anything but sleep!

0:01:34 > 0:01:38And there's also their younger sister, Jamie, to deal with,

0:01:38 > 0:01:41so they need a space of their own to enjoy their real passion.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45We like Scottish history because of all the battles that

0:01:45 > 0:01:49were fought and how the clans and the castles were so amazing.

0:01:50 > 0:01:52Since they've been wee boys, I've been telling them

0:01:52 > 0:01:56all the stories about their heritage, their history.

0:01:56 > 0:02:01So they love it, we go to castles and churches and battlefields.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07We live in the Scottish Highlands, so it's quite rural here.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10I just think it'd be great for them to have their own place to go

0:02:10 > 0:02:12out of the house, where they can hang out.

0:02:13 > 0:02:15We don't have many friends nearby,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18so we really want to have a place where we can have fun.

0:02:19 > 0:02:23Please, Dengineers, we really need your help!

0:02:23 > 0:02:27Don't you worry, boys, our help is exactly what you're going to get!

0:02:27 > 0:02:29You just don't know it yet!

0:02:29 > 0:02:33We are literally pushing the boat out on this one.

0:02:33 > 0:02:34This is so exciting,

0:02:34 > 0:02:38this is the first surprise we have ever done on water!

0:02:38 > 0:02:42I'm just hoping that we don't bump into any trouble.

0:02:42 > 0:02:44What kind of trouble are you talking about?

0:02:44 > 0:02:46You know... Monster trouble.

0:02:46 > 0:02:51There's no such things as monsters... Right, guys?

0:02:51 > 0:02:55Come on, Ben... You best keep lookout just in case!

0:02:57 > 0:03:00As Lauren keeps an eye out for monsters, the Dengineers team

0:03:00 > 0:03:03crack on rigging the boat with hidden cameras.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06And it's just in time, by the looks of it cos the boys have arrived

0:03:06 > 0:03:09- with their parents.- Alec and William are about to board the cruise ship,

0:03:09 > 0:03:12- so we're going to get hiding in here.- Yeah.

0:03:14 > 0:03:20As the boys take to their seats, the cruise ship sets sail.

0:03:20 > 0:03:21There's no going back now!

0:03:23 > 0:03:26With Alec and William taking in the sights, it's time to make our move.

0:03:26 > 0:03:28Let's go.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32Alec and William, hello!

0:03:32 > 0:03:36Hiya, guys, my name is Lauren and this is Joe.

0:03:36 > 0:03:40- Hello.- And we're from CBBC's The Dengineers.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43You guys are in luck because we are going to come to your house

0:03:43 > 0:03:47and build your very own dream den. How does that sound?

0:03:47 > 0:03:50Yeah!

0:03:50 > 0:03:51On a scale of 1 to 10,

0:03:51 > 0:03:55- I'm feeling a thousand - that's how shocked I am.- Did you have

0:03:55 > 0:03:59- any idea that this was going to happen today?- No.

0:03:59 > 0:04:04Really surprised. It was more shocked than shocked.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07And your mum and dad, they've been in on this the whole time.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09We are so excited for the boys

0:04:09 > 0:04:12to get their den, it's going to be amazing.

0:04:12 > 0:04:15It's going to take a lot of hard work. Are you up for the challenge?

0:04:15 > 0:04:18- Yeah.- Amazing! Well done, you guys.

0:04:18 > 0:04:22The Dengineers did a really good job, surprising us.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26Our first port of call is the Dengineers mobile HQ,

0:04:26 > 0:04:29which has some mega-cool technology to get this den off the ground.

0:04:29 > 0:04:34Alec, William, welcome to the Dengineers mobile HQ.

0:04:34 > 0:04:37So, guys, this is where we're going to take all of those ideas,

0:04:37 > 0:04:39get them onto this massive computer.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41- Are you up for it?- Yeah!

0:04:41 > 0:04:44Remember, it's your den, so if you see anything that you like,

0:04:44 > 0:04:46just grab it and throw it up there.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48So, first of all, what's the theme?

0:04:48 > 0:04:50Well, we're thinking of kind of doing

0:04:50 > 0:04:53a Scottish history, castle type den.

0:04:53 > 0:04:55- Wow!- That sounds amazing!

0:04:55 > 0:04:57What sort of thing do you want for the outside of it?

0:04:57 > 0:05:00We would quite like a turret.

0:05:00 > 0:05:01Yeah, that would look incredible.

0:05:01 > 0:05:05- That is exactly what you think of when you think of a castle.- Yeah.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08Also, like, some tartans in it.

0:05:08 > 0:05:09- Yeah.- Tartan in there.

0:05:09 > 0:05:14Great. On the inside, seating-wise, what do you think you'd like to...?

0:05:14 > 0:05:16Maybe two throne type things.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18- Great idea.- Ooh! Why thrones?

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Because we're the two kings.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23That's a GREAT idea!

0:05:23 > 0:05:26And what are you going to be getting up to in your den?

0:05:26 > 0:05:29Maybe reading books about Scottish history.

0:05:29 > 0:05:30- Wow!- That would be REALLY cool.

0:05:30 > 0:05:34Also a kind of coat of arms thing would be quite cool.

0:05:34 > 0:05:37Wow, like you could design your own coat of arms. Wow!

0:05:37 > 0:05:40Guys, there's some amazing ideas on here.

0:05:40 > 0:05:42Are you guys happy with your design?

0:05:42 > 0:05:43- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48Alec and William have chosen a castle with turrets for their den.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50A library for their books, tartan fabrics,

0:05:50 > 0:05:55and thrones for seating - it will be a space fit for two kings.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00And the boys have the perfect place to build their castle den.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05And we've got just the designer for the job...

0:06:09 > 0:06:13Meet Sege - a creative genius with over 30 years in the building biz!

0:06:13 > 0:06:16He knows how to nail a massive project, just like this one.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21THUNDER RUMBLES

0:06:21 > 0:06:24And it looks like the great British weather has arrived

0:06:24 > 0:06:26in the Scottish Highlands too.

0:06:26 > 0:06:28Look at the size of this mound!

0:06:28 > 0:06:30I don't think we've ever built a den on a mound before, Sege!

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Perfect place, most castles were built on high ground.

0:06:33 > 0:06:35One thing for certain, though, is that it's going to need a roof!

0:06:35 > 0:06:37It's definitely going to need a big roof.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40What have you got planned, mate, what do you reckon?

0:06:40 > 0:06:43Well, boys, tell me a bit about this castle, is it going to have turrets?

0:06:43 > 0:06:47- Yeah, it will have turrets. - OK, and how many turrets? Two maybe?

0:06:47 > 0:06:49Yeah. I think that's a really good idea.

0:06:49 > 0:06:53I think the castle should have a drawbridge. What about that?

0:06:53 > 0:06:54Definitely!

0:06:54 > 0:06:57What I think about the design ideas, I think they're really good,

0:06:57 > 0:07:00and when he told us about the drawbridge I was buzzing.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02So what are your favourite games?

0:07:02 > 0:07:04What's going to be the thing you like to play the most?

0:07:04 > 0:07:06Well, maybe something like chess, which is

0:07:06 > 0:07:09a game they played a lot in the olden days.

0:07:09 > 0:07:11- We play that quite a lot inside. - Oh, really?

0:07:11 > 0:07:13Sege, have you ever built a castle before?

0:07:13 > 0:07:15Not one quite like this.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18- Lads, what do you think of Sege's ideas? Do you like them?- Yeah.

0:07:18 > 0:07:20- Is it about what you had in your heads?- Definitely.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23I tell you what, the den is not going to build itself,

0:07:23 > 0:07:25- so let's get cracking. Come on.- Let's go.

0:07:25 > 0:07:29Sege has designed a Scottish-castle inspired den,

0:07:29 > 0:07:32complete with its own turrets and a drawbridge.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35On the inside, the centrepiece will be two regal thrones that will

0:07:35 > 0:07:37fill the room with colour.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40A display cabinet will show off Alec and William's very own crowns.

0:07:40 > 0:07:44And there'll also be plenty of room for the boys to store their beloved

0:07:44 > 0:07:48Scottish history books, as well as a table for them to play chess on.

0:07:49 > 0:07:52But before any building can take place,

0:07:52 > 0:07:55we need to make sure the ground is level.

0:07:55 > 0:07:59And to get this done, Sege calls in a Scottish monster of his own...

0:08:00 > 0:08:03I've never built a castle before, and I've certainly never built

0:08:03 > 0:08:05a castle on top of a mound before.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08So it's going to be quite a challenging project.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11Once the area has been dug out, a solid base needs to be laid

0:08:11 > 0:08:13for the castle to sit on.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16And Alec has a go at being a digger driver.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20Then it's William's turn.

0:08:21 > 0:08:25But Mum, Dad and Grandpa don't get off lightly.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28They have to get their hands dirty too!

0:08:28 > 0:08:29This is going to be a massive den.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31But we're allowed in, sure?

0:08:31 > 0:08:33- Maybe.- Some of the time.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37But have Mum and Dad got any fears?

0:08:37 > 0:08:41I think I'd be pretty upset if it was, like, just something

0:08:41 > 0:08:45really garish that I have to look at all day long.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47I think it will be fine, whatever they do.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50Well, you'll just have to wait and see!

0:08:50 > 0:08:53Mum and Dad, do you know what this sign means?

0:08:53 > 0:08:55- "Dengineers only." - It does, and what does that mean?

0:08:55 > 0:08:58- We need to get out of here. - Yes, you do, so sling your hook.

0:08:58 > 0:09:02- Go on, get out, wave them goodbye, guys.- Bye!- Bye!- See you!- Bye!

0:09:06 > 0:09:09After the sterling effort on the groundworks,

0:09:09 > 0:09:13building can finally begin on the structure of the den.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15And the rest of the Dengineers team arrive

0:09:15 > 0:09:17in the remote Scottish Highlands.

0:09:17 > 0:09:20First day, really looking to get a lot done.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22I'd like to get both turrets of the castle up,

0:09:22 > 0:09:25I'd like to get all the walls up and get the roof on.

0:09:25 > 0:09:27It's so exciting, this is my den,

0:09:27 > 0:09:29this is the den that I would love as a boy.

0:09:29 > 0:09:31It's got everything going for it! It's a castle!

0:09:35 > 0:09:38The walls of the structure go up in no time.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40One, two, lift it up.

0:09:40 > 0:09:42But the biggest job of the day is going to be getting this

0:09:42 > 0:09:44round turret up into position.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47Nice gentle walk, one, two, one, two...

0:09:47 > 0:09:50This oak turret has got a staircase inside it

0:09:50 > 0:09:52and weighs over 100kg -

0:09:52 > 0:09:55that's as much as a baby elephant!

0:09:55 > 0:09:58And it's got to go all the way around the house.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05Right, OK, drop it down.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11Now we've just got to lift it up. One, two, three.

0:10:16 > 0:10:18Wahey! There we go.

0:10:18 > 0:10:21And now it's in position, all that's left to do is

0:10:21 > 0:10:23to fix the turret to the rest of the den.

0:10:27 > 0:10:29Alec and Will, what do you think?

0:10:29 > 0:10:31I LOVE it, I think it's amazing.

0:10:31 > 0:10:33It looks incredible.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36So as you can see, we're still a long way off from finished.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38There's a lot of painting to get involved with -

0:10:38 > 0:10:40- are you up for helping me? - Definitely.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43Brilliant, let's go.

0:10:43 > 0:10:46There are two very important pieces of furniture

0:10:46 > 0:10:49needed inside the boys' den. Their thrones!

0:10:49 > 0:10:53And an upcycle out of old chairs is the perfect way to make them.

0:10:57 > 0:11:01These are two old dining room chairs that we're going to upcycle

0:11:01 > 0:11:04into thrones. OK, let's get on.

0:11:04 > 0:11:06To turn these chairs into the finest thrones,

0:11:06 > 0:11:09the first thing to do is prime them with white paint.

0:11:09 > 0:11:11Go on, William, have some fun with it, that's it.

0:11:11 > 0:11:15- They do look like thrones, don't they?- They certainly do.

0:11:15 > 0:11:16Once the chairs have dried,

0:11:16 > 0:11:19they move on to covering them with gold paint.

0:11:19 > 0:11:22Nice, strong strokes, like this. Nice, big strokes.

0:11:22 > 0:11:26And the last thing to do is give the chairs a Scottish flair

0:11:26 > 0:11:27with tartan fabrics.

0:11:27 > 0:11:31Take a cushion each, OK... Hold the cushion tight

0:11:31 > 0:11:33and drag it over, a bit like that.

0:11:33 > 0:11:34There we are.

0:11:34 > 0:11:38Fold it over, that's it, keeping it nice and stretched.

0:11:38 > 0:11:40Now that we've got them nicely wrapped,

0:11:40 > 0:11:42what we'll do is hand them over to Alex,

0:11:42 > 0:11:46so that next time you'll see them, they'll look like real cushions.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48The next time the boys see their upcycled chairs,

0:11:48 > 0:11:51they'll have pride of place in their castle den.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Well done.

0:11:55 > 0:11:58It's been a very productive day for the Dengineers,

0:11:58 > 0:12:01and Sege is feeling positive about the den's progress.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04Today's been really good, we've got loads done.

0:12:04 > 0:12:06Got the turrets over, I was really worried about the turrets

0:12:06 > 0:12:08because they are really, really heavy.

0:12:08 > 0:12:10It's been brilliant.

0:12:10 > 0:12:14I think the build has gone really well, and we've got a lot done.

0:12:14 > 0:12:17It's starting to really look like a castle now.

0:12:20 > 0:12:25It's day two, and the Dengineers are quick off the mark in Inverness.

0:12:27 > 0:12:29Sege! How's it going?

0:12:29 > 0:12:32Really, really well, Joe, but it's a long way from finished.

0:12:32 > 0:12:33Today's a very, very big day.

0:12:33 > 0:12:36We've got the electrics to do, we've got a lot of painting to do.

0:12:36 > 0:12:39And the big thing, and I think it's a first for the Dengineers,

0:12:39 > 0:12:41is we've got a big heavy drawbridge to go in.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43Wow! That's exciting but terrifying.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48The first big job of the day is to get this beast installed.

0:12:48 > 0:12:50- Do you know what this is, boys?- No.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52Well, it's a drawbridge!

0:12:52 > 0:12:54Aw, cool!

0:12:54 > 0:12:57Every castle's got to have a drawbridge.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00- How brilliant will that be? - Amazing.- Yeah.

0:13:01 > 0:13:03How are you looking at the bottom, Greg?

0:13:03 > 0:13:06As the team try to put the drawbridge into place,

0:13:06 > 0:13:08they run into their first drawback.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10Tell me what the problem is.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13- It doesn't fit.- The mechanism to operate the drawbridge

0:13:13 > 0:13:15is too long to fit into the gap.

0:13:15 > 0:13:17But with a bit of alteration, it's not long

0:13:17 > 0:13:20before the Dengineers team figure out a solution.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25Talk me through this drawbridge, how does it actually work?

0:13:25 > 0:13:28You know, you see roller shutter doors on shops, don't you?

0:13:28 > 0:13:30- That roll up. - Yeah, that roll up, on a barrel.

0:13:30 > 0:13:33The chains roll the shutters up vertically, you see.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Oh, you can't see that bit normally cos you can just see the blinds.

0:13:36 > 0:13:40Exactly, so what we've done is we've done exactly the same thing.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43So the pieces of string on here represent the chains.

0:13:43 > 0:13:47So, if I turn the model around, you can see I've put this bolt in here.

0:13:47 > 0:13:50And what the bolt does is the bolt acts as the barrel.

0:13:50 > 0:13:53- And that pulls the door up. - And it does, there you go.

0:13:54 > 0:13:58Sege's feature drawbridge works by using a chain and barrel mechanism.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00To make things move, the barrel, which is operated

0:14:00 > 0:14:04by an electric motor at the back of the drawbridge, will roll round,

0:14:04 > 0:14:06unwinding the chains to open it.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08And the barrel rolls round in the other direction,

0:14:08 > 0:14:11pulling the chains in, to close the drawbridge.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16While the Dengineers team carry on with the build,

0:14:16 > 0:14:20the boys have got the chance to put their own stamp on the den,

0:14:20 > 0:14:23as no castle would be complete without a coat of arms.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26And Alec and William know exactly what they're going to put on theirs.

0:14:26 > 0:14:28Painting is fun.

0:14:28 > 0:14:32With the boys busy making their own crest, I want to find out

0:14:32 > 0:14:35from Mum and Dad why this den is so important for Alec and William.

0:14:35 > 0:14:38All right, Mum and Dad? What we doing?

0:14:38 > 0:14:41- We're making oatmeal chocolate-chip cookies.- What can I do?

0:14:41 > 0:14:43- You want to measure out the sugar? - There is a real chance

0:14:43 > 0:14:46- that I might get it all over your kitchen but I'll do it.- Whoa, whoa!

0:14:46 > 0:14:49- Too much? - All right, now we need 225g.

0:14:49 > 0:14:53225. While I'm doing that, how did Alec and Will get involved

0:14:53 > 0:14:55in loving Scottish history?

0:14:55 > 0:14:58Well, since they've been wee boys, I've been filling their heads with

0:14:58 > 0:15:02all sorts of stories of Scottish history and their heritage.

0:15:02 > 0:15:04I mean, they love learning and exploring.

0:15:04 > 0:15:08It must be hard being this far away from, like, everything,

0:15:08 > 0:15:10sort of with their friends and school and stuff.

0:15:10 > 0:15:12Do you find it can be a bit isolating for them?

0:15:12 > 0:15:15Sure. I mean, it's a journey into town if they want to go

0:15:15 > 0:15:16and do stuff in there.

0:15:16 > 0:15:19So, really, they've got to make their own fun out here.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21Are you nervous about what they've done to your garden?

0:15:21 > 0:15:24No, I'm not nervous, I trust these guys.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27Well, there was a rumour that it was going to be hot pink, this den,

0:15:27 > 0:15:30so I dunno if that's people pulling my leg or not.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32What's this den going to mean to the boys?

0:15:32 > 0:15:35It's that bit of independence, isn't it, it's their own space.

0:15:35 > 0:15:38It's quite cool for them, as they're getting older,

0:15:38 > 0:15:41to be able to feel like they've got a place to go that's their own.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43- That's just theirs. - That'd be quite good.

0:15:43 > 0:15:47Yeah, and I think it will hopefully inspire them to, you know, explore

0:15:47 > 0:15:51more of their history, to be really fired up and excited about it.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Sorry I didn't really help with baking, but it looks lovely.

0:15:54 > 0:15:57- You'll eat some, you'll do that? - Oh, absolutely, put it in my mouth.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03Back at the build, and it's full steam ahead once more.

0:16:04 > 0:16:07As the team crack on, Joe and the boys try their hand

0:16:07 > 0:16:09at making one of the internal features.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12Teamwork, lads, make a dream work.

0:16:12 > 0:16:13Oh, no!

0:16:15 > 0:16:18Well, I think we can safely say that flatpacks aren't your thing, Joe!

0:16:18 > 0:16:21You're not wrong. It's all-go for the boys today.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23The next task they have to get to grips with

0:16:23 > 0:16:26is spray-painting the chandelier for the den.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31And they've done an excellent job!

0:16:32 > 0:16:34With the den looking in very good shape,

0:16:34 > 0:16:37Sege has decided that a pathway leading up to it would look great,

0:16:37 > 0:16:40so the diggers are called back to help with the job.

0:16:40 > 0:16:45Shovels, please! Shovels! Help!

0:16:46 > 0:16:49Joe, Alec and William have to get hands-on too!

0:16:52 > 0:16:54Shattered!

0:16:54 > 0:16:56It's pretty thirsty work!

0:16:56 > 0:17:00Hang on a minute, where's everybody gone?

0:17:00 > 0:17:02All right for some, innit?

0:17:03 > 0:17:07It's the end of the day, and it's been another very productive one.

0:17:07 > 0:17:10Today's been a pretty tough day, but it's been really fun.

0:17:10 > 0:17:14Today I've enjoyed flattening all of the gravel out.

0:17:14 > 0:17:17It was so heavy lifting it all up and putting it down.

0:17:20 > 0:17:23I am really, really pleased with the way the build is coming on.

0:17:23 > 0:17:25I think we're going to smash the reveal day.

0:17:25 > 0:17:26I think it's going to be brilliant.

0:17:29 > 0:17:33With day three on the horizon, it's back to business for the Dengineers.

0:17:36 > 0:17:40The drawbridge is working and the castle is standing tall and proud.

0:17:40 > 0:17:42Sege?

0:17:42 > 0:17:45- Morning!- Hello, mate!- How are ya? - How'd you get up there?

0:17:45 > 0:17:47There's a ladder just there, mate. Come on up.

0:17:47 > 0:17:49Got things to show you, it's a great view.

0:17:51 > 0:17:53How are you? How good is this?

0:17:53 > 0:17:55Wow! Look at it up here!

0:17:55 > 0:17:59It's definitely the first time I've been on the roof of a den.

0:17:59 > 0:18:02Well, you see, castles always had high lookouts

0:18:02 > 0:18:04so that they could see enemies coming from afar.

0:18:04 > 0:18:08- But this way you can see all your friends coming.- Yeah!

0:18:12 > 0:18:15The den is really taking shape, and everyone's getting stuck in.

0:18:15 > 0:18:18Although I'm not entirely sure my talents include building

0:18:18 > 0:18:20any type of shelving system!

0:18:23 > 0:18:25Joe, have you done that shelf yet?

0:18:25 > 0:18:27JOE CHUCKLES

0:18:30 > 0:18:33Whilst the team work on the finer details,

0:18:33 > 0:18:36it's time for Alec and William to take a back-seat.

0:18:36 > 0:18:40This is the last time they'll see the den before the big reveal.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45Right, boys, you've been absolutely brilliant, you've been a great help.

0:18:45 > 0:18:48But I've got a few more surprises up my sleeve for you guys

0:18:48 > 0:18:51that I need to get on with, without you knowing what they are.

0:18:51 > 0:18:54So I'm afraid, chaps, it's time to go.

0:18:54 > 0:18:56- OK.- See you laters. Bye!- Bye.

0:18:56 > 0:19:00With Alec and William banned from the den, I've whisked them away and

0:19:00 > 0:19:04brought them here to the historic fortress that is Edinburgh Castle.

0:19:04 > 0:19:07It's said that there were once over 3,000 castles in Scotland,

0:19:07 > 0:19:10and Edinburgh Castle is one of the most famous.

0:19:10 > 0:19:12Dating back to at least the 12th century,

0:19:12 > 0:19:15the castle sits on top of a volcanic rock.

0:19:15 > 0:19:17This is so cool!

0:19:17 > 0:19:20- Look at that!- That is awesome.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22So, guys, this is Gabby,

0:19:22 > 0:19:25and she's going to be our historical guide today.

0:19:25 > 0:19:28Hi, guys, welcome to Edinburgh Castle. So before I take you around

0:19:28 > 0:19:32the castle and tell you a bit about it, I've got a little treat for you.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35- So I've you want to follow me... - Ooh, this is exciting!- Just up here.

0:19:35 > 0:19:38- Guys, guys!- Hurry up!

0:19:38 > 0:19:40In order to take a journey through history,

0:19:40 > 0:19:42I think you need to look the part.

0:19:42 > 0:19:45So in this room here I've got a couple of outfits

0:19:45 > 0:19:47- I think you might like.- Amazing!

0:19:49 > 0:19:50Wow, you look really amazing!

0:19:50 > 0:19:52But, Lauren, what are YOU wearing?

0:19:52 > 0:19:55Yeah, I sort of look like I'm off to milk a cow!

0:19:55 > 0:19:58But, do you know what, I will milk a cow

0:19:58 > 0:20:00and then I will defend this castle!

0:20:00 > 0:20:02So, how about we go and see the Great Hall?

0:20:02 > 0:20:06- It's one of the many attractions in this castle.- Amazing, let's go.

0:20:10 > 0:20:15So, guys, welcome to the Great Hall. It was built early 1500s

0:20:15 > 0:20:16by King James IV.

0:20:16 > 0:20:19As you look around, there's some many things to see, but I'm going to

0:20:19 > 0:20:21start by talking about the roof. King James got

0:20:21 > 0:20:23the best ship-makers in town to make it,

0:20:23 > 0:20:26which is why it sort of looks like the hull of a ship.

0:20:26 > 0:20:28This is amazing. What do you think, guys?

0:20:28 > 0:20:31Well, I like the swords all over the walls.

0:20:31 > 0:20:33They're amazing, aren't they?

0:20:35 > 0:20:37As the boys are pretty impressed with the weapons

0:20:37 > 0:20:40and armour in the hall, Gabby's got a special treat for them.

0:20:40 > 0:20:44Tell you what, guys, ditch this. We don't need these any more.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46- Gabby, what's all this about? - So these are replica weapons.

0:20:46 > 0:20:50The first one I'm going to show you... This is our two-handed sword.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53You can see, it's actually measured to chin height.

0:20:53 > 0:20:55- If you want to give that a little hold...- Whoa!

0:20:55 > 0:20:58Careful, Alec! How does that feel?

0:20:58 > 0:21:00- Really cool.- Looks heavy.

0:21:00 > 0:21:03So, it also doubles as a shield. Do you want to give it a hold as well?

0:21:03 > 0:21:07- Wow!- That's cool!- And this would have been used about 1400s.

0:21:07 > 0:21:10- So have you guys had a good day today?- Yeah.

0:21:10 > 0:21:13Excellent stuff. Gabby, thank you so much for showing us around.

0:21:13 > 0:21:15No problem. Thanks for coming and seeing me.

0:21:15 > 0:21:17Not at all. And, boys, we've actually got

0:21:17 > 0:21:20- one last surprise for you. Are you up for it?- Yeah!- Come on, let's go.

0:21:27 > 0:21:31Wow, that's loud! That's so loud, isn't it?!

0:21:31 > 0:21:33- Yeah!- Now, William has actually got quite sensitive ears,

0:21:33 > 0:21:36so he's going to sit this one out but we are going to give it a blast.

0:21:36 > 0:21:37Cameron, what do we need to do?

0:21:37 > 0:21:43You need to blow in here and you need to fill the bag and play here.

0:21:43 > 0:21:46- The bag is supposed to go under your arm.- Right...

0:21:46 > 0:21:48SILENCE

0:21:48 > 0:21:52BAGPIPES GROAN Oh, yes! Don't laugh, carry on!

0:21:57 > 0:22:00OK, that's really hard! Show us how it's done.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09And there's one more treat for Alec and William.

0:22:09 > 0:22:14We have got you these. These are sashes and they are made

0:22:14 > 0:22:18out of the MacQueen tartan, which is one of your family clan's tartans.

0:22:18 > 0:22:21- What do you think of those? - They're really cool.- Yeah!

0:22:21 > 0:22:23- Oh, I'm glad, do you want to put them on?- Yeah.

0:22:26 > 0:22:29I found Edinburgh Castle really good.

0:22:29 > 0:22:31I thought it was really fun going through and seeing

0:22:31 > 0:22:35all the old swords and all the things they used in the olden days.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38I may be wearing a dress that looks like a pair of curtains

0:22:38 > 0:22:41but I can fight! Three, two, one! Argh!

0:22:44 > 0:22:46I've had a great day today

0:22:46 > 0:22:48but I just can't wait to get back to the den.

0:22:51 > 0:22:54Do you know what? I think I'm just going to leave them to it.

0:22:55 > 0:22:57Where's she gone?

0:23:03 > 0:23:05Back at the build, Sege has it all in hand

0:23:05 > 0:23:07and is feeling extremely optimistic.

0:23:07 > 0:23:11Done! The past three days have been absolutely brilliant.

0:23:11 > 0:23:14Been great fun. I'm really looking forward to the reveal.

0:23:14 > 0:23:17Although there is one job I'm a bit worried about not being

0:23:17 > 0:23:20finished on time, and that's Joe and the shelves.

0:23:20 > 0:23:23Cos they're going on and on and on!

0:23:23 > 0:23:26I don't know if he's going to finish them!

0:23:26 > 0:23:27Oh, thanks, Greg!

0:23:31 > 0:23:33Yeah, sorted it, done it!

0:23:37 > 0:23:41It's the final day, and there's only a few hours before the big reveal.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46- Segell! Segell strikes again, look at this!- I know!

0:23:46 > 0:23:50- Great, innit?- It's incredible! That is massive.

0:23:50 > 0:23:52We're not finished yet, though.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55- OK.- We've got loads and loads still to do.- Course we do.- What?

0:23:55 > 0:23:58We've got to do some dressing, we've got some cleaning out to do.

0:23:58 > 0:24:01We've got to get everything ready for the big reveal.

0:24:01 > 0:24:03- And we're against the clock. - Well, let's do it then, Sege!

0:24:03 > 0:24:07- As much as I like talking to you, on you go.- Come on!- Get on with it!

0:24:12 > 0:24:14As the crowd begins to gather, it's all hands on den!

0:24:16 > 0:24:20This castle needs some serious decorating on the inside.

0:24:20 > 0:24:22I'm really excited to see the den,

0:24:22 > 0:24:25cos the Dengineers have put a lot of effort into building it.

0:24:28 > 0:24:31We've been kept out of our garden long enough.

0:24:31 > 0:24:33We're ready to see what the boys have done.

0:24:34 > 0:24:38With one final push, we're finished just in time.

0:24:48 > 0:24:50Alec and William wanted a space where

0:24:50 > 0:24:53they could indulge their passion for Scottish history.

0:24:55 > 0:24:59And Sege and the Dengineers have given them exactly that!

0:24:59 > 0:25:03The once-empty mound has been transformed into a castle

0:25:03 > 0:25:04fit for two kings.

0:25:06 > 0:25:11- Guys, are you ready to see the den? - Yes!

0:25:11 > 0:25:15Here we go, then! In three, two, one...!

0:25:18 > 0:25:23- Amazing!- What do you think, lads? - I think it's amazing.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26- What do you think, Will? - It's epic!

0:25:26 > 0:25:29You've got your very own Scottish castle in the back garden, Dad.

0:25:29 > 0:25:31- What do you think? - It's fantastic,

0:25:31 > 0:25:34I think it's going to go on the map of Scottish castles, it's that good!

0:25:34 > 0:25:38And Lauren's got something extra-special to show to everyone.

0:25:38 > 0:25:42You can go up the turret by climbing very carefully... And not only

0:25:42 > 0:25:44can you go up into one turret,

0:25:44 > 0:25:48you can walk across to the second turret,

0:25:48 > 0:25:52and then...bear with me... OK, you ready for this?

0:25:52 > 0:25:55- Ready?- Three, two, one...

0:25:58 > 0:26:00Look at that!

0:26:00 > 0:26:02How cool's that?!

0:26:02 > 0:26:03It's amazing!

0:26:05 > 0:26:06- Yeah!- There it is!

0:26:06 > 0:26:08That is so cool!

0:26:08 > 0:26:11- Do you want to have a look inside? - Yeah!- Come on, follow me.

0:26:13 > 0:26:19Oh, wow, look at that! It's got mini bagpipes!

0:26:19 > 0:26:23And there's the picture of us at Edinburgh Castle.

0:26:23 > 0:26:25And these are the thrones we made.

0:26:25 > 0:26:28- Sit down, see what you think. - Eh, look at that!

0:26:28 > 0:26:30And the chess table!

0:26:30 > 0:26:32Good, innit?!

0:26:32 > 0:26:34What do you think of the chandelier up the top as well?

0:26:34 > 0:26:37Whoa, it's epic!

0:26:37 > 0:26:38What's this?

0:26:38 > 0:26:40Ah, you've found something special,

0:26:40 > 0:26:43why don't you pull these chairs apart

0:26:43 > 0:26:45and see if you can see what it is.

0:26:45 > 0:26:48If you lift that up, Alec...

0:26:48 > 0:26:50- Yay!- It's a secret door!

0:26:50 > 0:26:51It's a secret door!

0:26:51 > 0:26:53There it is, watch your heads!

0:26:56 > 0:26:57With its drawbridge...

0:26:59 > 0:27:01..turret walkway...

0:27:01 > 0:27:03..spiral staircase...

0:27:03 > 0:27:05..and the boys' very own coat of arms,

0:27:05 > 0:27:09this castle den has gone down a storm!

0:27:09 > 0:27:11What do we reckon, guys, has Sege done a good job?

0:27:11 > 0:27:14- Yeah!- He's done the best job ever!

0:27:16 > 0:27:18- BOTH:- Thank you SO much!

0:27:18 > 0:27:21Ah, you're welcome! It's been a pleasure, fantastic.

0:27:21 > 0:27:24I think the den is the best ever.

0:27:24 > 0:27:27I think it's the best the Dengineers have ever done!

0:27:27 > 0:27:32Oh, wow! That is amazing, look at that, Charlie!

0:27:32 > 0:27:34And finally, everyone else is allowed in.

0:27:34 > 0:27:38- Absolutely amazing!- It's better than we could have ever imagined.

0:27:38 > 0:27:43To become Dengineers and to get to build something like this is

0:27:43 > 0:27:45a wonderful experience for them.

0:27:45 > 0:27:49We're in the treetops up here, it really is so high!

0:27:49 > 0:27:50Wow!

0:27:50 > 0:27:53It's safe to say this Scottish castle den is now

0:27:53 > 0:27:55a new attraction here in the Highlands.

0:27:55 > 0:27:57So there's only one thing left to do...

0:27:57 > 0:28:00- ALL:- This den is done!

0:28:00 > 0:28:02CHEERING
