0:00:55 > 0:00:57Today, we're at a school in Manchester to surprise a girl

0:00:57 > 0:00:59who wants her very own martial arts den.

0:00:59 > 0:01:02Actually, Joe, I've just signed up for a year's worth

0:01:02 > 0:01:03of martial arts classes myself.

0:01:03 > 0:01:05- Ooh, which one?- Origami.

0:01:05 > 0:01:07It's not a martial art, it's the art of paper-folding.

0:01:07 > 0:01:09- What?- Paper-folding.

0:01:09 > 0:01:12Oh. I hope I can get a refund.

0:01:12 > 0:01:14- You crease me up. Come on! - Too soon, Joe!

0:01:14 > 0:01:16- Ah.- Too soon!- Sorry.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24Today's Dengineer is nine-year-old Nya from Manchester.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Please, Dengineers, help me.

0:01:27 > 0:01:30I really want a martial arts den so I can practise my speed,

0:01:30 > 0:01:32stamina and strength whenever I want.

0:01:34 > 0:01:37Nya loves sport, and does she play a lot of them!

0:01:37 > 0:01:42There's athletics, swimming, football and boxing.

0:01:42 > 0:01:46And the new sport she wants to master is martial arts.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50Nya's interest in martial arts came from when I was in the loft,

0:01:50 > 0:01:51all my old stuff was up there,

0:01:51 > 0:01:53so I dusted it off and got it out for her and she had a go

0:01:53 > 0:01:55and took to it like a duck to water.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58The skills she can take into martial arts, she's very quick,

0:01:58 > 0:02:00very determined and tough.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03She's got the ability to go very far, to be honest.

0:02:05 > 0:02:07To become a martial arts pro,

0:02:07 > 0:02:09you need to master strength, speed and skill,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11but you also need space,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14and that's one thing our Nya doesn't always have a lot of.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16Nya shares a room with Cree.

0:02:16 > 0:02:19And as well as they get on, they have got a lovely relationship,

0:02:19 > 0:02:20it isn't always easy for her.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22She hasn't really got a space that's her own.

0:02:22 > 0:02:26If Cree wakes Nya up, it can be difficult for her with her sports.

0:02:26 > 0:02:28She likes to perform at her best at all times.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31Sometimes she's tired, you know, it's not ideal.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34Personally, I wouldn't like to share a room with Cree,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37but Nya, she never complains. She's amazing.

0:02:37 > 0:02:40She's really thoughtful and quite selfless.

0:02:40 > 0:02:43This girl needs a den to help her become a martial arts pro.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46And a den is exactly what Nya's going to get,

0:02:46 > 0:02:48she just doesn't know it yet.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53For today's hit, we've come to Nya's school,

0:02:53 > 0:02:57where she's about to get stuck into, you guessed it, a spot of sport.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00Our dedicated team of Dengineers have been busy

0:03:00 > 0:03:03fitting their hidden cameras all around the hall,

0:03:03 > 0:03:07where her lunchtime gymnastics session is about to take place.

0:03:07 > 0:03:10Mrs Wigstone, you are in charge of Nya's gymnastics class today,

0:03:10 > 0:03:13so you're the perfect person to be our Dengineer on the inside.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16- Are you up for it?- I really am, yes. - Excellent stuff.

0:03:16 > 0:03:19Now, do we think Nya knows anything about what's about to happen?

0:03:19 > 0:03:22- No, she's no idea at all. - That's what we like.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25And also, is there anything we need to know about the class today?

0:03:25 > 0:03:28You might notice that some of them have got strange hair styles.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30We've got mad hair day today, a charity day,

0:03:30 > 0:03:32so they're enjoying their mad hair.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34Now, I know why you did yours like that.

0:03:34 > 0:03:36This is my normal hair, Joe.

0:03:38 > 0:03:39Our hidden cameras are in place,

0:03:39 > 0:03:42just in time for Nya and her pals to enter the hall.

0:03:48 > 0:03:51- Ssh!- And we're hiding a matter of metres away,

0:03:51 > 0:03:53waiting for the perfect moment to pop out.

0:03:54 > 0:03:56TV IS glamorous, but not today, Joe,

0:03:56 > 0:03:58because apparently, we're in the stockroom.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00- Careful! - CLATTER!

0:04:00 > 0:04:02Ssh!

0:04:02 > 0:04:06- JOE STIFLES A LAUGH Tambourine, 'course! - That was very silly.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09- WHISPERS:- Put that down. - CLATTER!

0:04:36 > 0:04:37Hello! Sorry to interrupt.

0:04:37 > 0:04:40- We're looking for Nya. Is Nya anywhere?- Where's Nya?

0:04:40 > 0:04:43Oh, Nya, there you are! Hello!

0:04:43 > 0:04:46- Hi. My name's Joe. - And my name is Lauren,

0:04:46 > 0:04:49and we are from CBBC's The Dengineers.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Now, we've heard that you want to build your very own den

0:04:52 > 0:04:55that you can keep fit and strong and practise your martial arts in.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57- Is that right?- Yeah.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Well, guess what, Nya? You are in luck today,

0:04:59 > 0:05:02because that's exactly what you're going to get.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05- How does that sound?- Really amazing. - Really amazing?

0:05:05 > 0:05:08Well, Nya, we have got tons and tons of work to crack on with,

0:05:08 > 0:05:11so if it's OK, we're going to pinch you out of your PE class

0:05:11 > 0:05:14to take you away to get cracking. Is that all right?

0:05:14 > 0:05:16- Yeah.- Come on, let's go.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21What's just happened is really amazing. I didn't expect it.

0:05:21 > 0:05:23I'm probably the happiest ever.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26Nya looked really surprised

0:05:26 > 0:05:30and she looked so happy when everyone came in.

0:05:30 > 0:05:35Nya deserves the den because she's, like, really kind and really sporty.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39Our first port of call is the Dengineers mobile HQ,

0:05:39 > 0:05:42which has some mega-cool technology to get this den rolling.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47Nya, this is where we're going to get all those ideas

0:05:47 > 0:05:49that I know you've got in your head,

0:05:49 > 0:05:52get them onto this big computer and come up with a design for your den.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55Remember, you're the boss, so anything you see,

0:05:55 > 0:05:58- if you want it, just grab it and throw it up there, OK?- Yeah.

0:05:58 > 0:06:01What's catching your attention immediately?

0:06:01 > 0:06:04- Who's that? - That's my baby brother, Cree.

0:06:04 > 0:06:07Cree sleeps in the same bedroom as you, doesn't he?

0:06:07 > 0:06:08- Yeah.- What's that like?

0:06:08 > 0:06:11Sometimes he can be quite noisy and mischievous.

0:06:11 > 0:06:14When I'm sleeping, in the middle of the night,

0:06:14 > 0:06:17he wakes up and starts crying. I can't get back to sleep then.

0:06:17 > 0:06:22- We love Cree, but we maybe need a bit of a space away from him.- Yeah.

0:06:22 > 0:06:23I quite like this one.

0:06:23 > 0:06:27Martial arts is quite, like, a disciplined type of sport, isn't it?

0:06:27 > 0:06:31Yeah. You have to, like, shake their hand after to show respect.

0:06:31 > 0:06:33- Ah! Interesting!- I didn't know that.

0:06:33 > 0:06:35What about the exterior?

0:06:35 > 0:06:37Ah, that looks great, yeah.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40- It's a very, sort of, Japanese style.- Yeah.

0:06:40 > 0:06:42And how about inside?

0:06:42 > 0:06:45Inside, do you know them wooden things, where you go like that?

0:06:45 > 0:06:48- Yeah. - Like, test your speed and things.

0:06:48 > 0:06:50- I know, I know! - Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!

0:06:50 > 0:06:52So, seeing how fast you can get each one?

0:06:52 > 0:06:54Yeah. I really like the dojo.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57It's where the kids do, like, all their training.

0:06:57 > 0:06:58Brilliant idea.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01So, Nya, what's the ultimate ambition, would you say?

0:07:01 > 0:07:03I really want to go to the Olympics one day.

0:07:03 > 0:07:04Thousands of people watching me,

0:07:04 > 0:07:07and I want to show them what I actually can do.

0:07:07 > 0:07:11Well, this den is certainly going to be something that we can do

0:07:11 > 0:07:14to help you achieve your ambition of getting to the Olympics.

0:07:15 > 0:07:18Nya has decided on a Japanese-style exterior for her den,

0:07:18 > 0:07:21with the inside looking like a traditional dojo,

0:07:21 > 0:07:24complete with loads of training equipment

0:07:24 > 0:07:26to help her become a martial arts pro.

0:07:30 > 0:07:33But who will make Nya's den dreams a reality?

0:07:33 > 0:07:35Step forward, Olga.

0:07:35 > 0:07:37She's an expert in creating mind-blowing dens,

0:07:37 > 0:07:41and has all the skills needed to give this den some serious punch.

0:07:45 > 0:07:50Hi, Nya. You have chosen all the Japanese traditional images,

0:07:50 > 0:07:55so I thought that would be a nice base for the outside of your den.

0:07:55 > 0:07:59- It sounds, like, really, really good and cool.- Brilliant.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02For the inside, you're going to have all the equipment

0:08:02 > 0:08:05to train your strength, speed,

0:08:05 > 0:08:08stamina and accuracy in your martial arts.

0:08:08 > 0:08:12You're going to have a chin-up bar, you're going to have a punch bag.

0:08:12 > 0:08:16What about a wooden dummy that you can train all your moves on?

0:08:16 > 0:08:18I think it sounds really, really excellent.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22Are you happy to sign off my design and we can start building your den?

0:08:22 > 0:08:25- Absolutely! - Brilliant. We have a deal.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28Olga's plans have been given a big tick from Nya.

0:08:28 > 0:08:30She's designed the outside of the den

0:08:30 > 0:08:33to look like a traditional Japanese tea house,

0:08:33 > 0:08:35complete with cool sliding doors.

0:08:35 > 0:08:38On the inside, Nya will have a chin-up bar,

0:08:38 > 0:08:41punch bag, as well as an awesome Wing Chun wooden dummy

0:08:41 > 0:08:45to help her develop and improve her martial arts skills.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47I'm really, really excited by Olga's plans

0:08:47 > 0:08:50because she's just really creative and she likes different colours.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52That's what I like about her.

0:08:54 > 0:08:56Den design signed off, it's time to remove

0:08:56 > 0:08:58all non-essential personnel from this garden.

0:08:58 > 0:09:03From here on in, this in Dengineers only, and it is a no-family zone.

0:09:03 > 0:09:06- There it is!- Sorry, Mum.

0:09:06 > 0:09:08- OK. Bye.- See you later. - See you, Mum.

0:09:08 > 0:09:11- Thanks for your continued support. - Thanks, though. Bye!

0:09:11 > 0:09:13I'm excited for Nya, but I'm also nervous

0:09:13 > 0:09:16because Nya's imagination is wild.

0:09:20 > 0:09:23Before anything can be built, we need a concrete base

0:09:23 > 0:09:25to support the weight of Nya's den.

0:09:27 > 0:09:29Hey, what do you think, then, eh?

0:09:29 > 0:09:32- It looks really, really big. - Big, eh? Not half!

0:09:34 > 0:09:36For this base, the Dengineers are pouring enough concrete

0:09:36 > 0:09:39to support the weight of over six cars.

0:09:42 > 0:09:44- BOTH: This base is done!- Yes!

0:09:48 > 0:09:51With the ground ready for action,

0:09:51 > 0:09:53it's time for the rest of the team to arrive.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55And do we bring a lot of kit!

0:09:55 > 0:09:57Morning, Ben. Here we go again.

0:10:01 > 0:10:04Yeah, that's it, that's it. Yes, mate.

0:10:04 > 0:10:06Whilst Nya gets stuck in, the rest of the team start

0:10:06 > 0:10:09putting up the main structure of the den,

0:10:09 > 0:10:14which has been constructed off-site out of over 162 metres of timber.

0:10:14 > 0:10:17That's the height of 27 giraffes.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27Olga, we've well and truly taken over the place.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30Is there anything that me and Nya can get on with?

0:10:30 > 0:10:31As you can see, the structure is going up,

0:10:31 > 0:10:33so this is going to be the best job for you.

0:10:33 > 0:10:36- Shall we do it together?- Yeah.

0:10:36 > 0:10:39A structure this big needs lots of screws to keep it together,

0:10:39 > 0:10:43and it turns out Nya is a power tool pro.

0:10:43 > 0:10:46Ready? Hand on the back again. Push really hard.

0:10:46 > 0:10:47WHIRRING

0:10:47 > 0:10:49Go on, keep going, keep going.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51Good!

0:10:51 > 0:10:53WHIRRING DROWNS OUT SPEECH

0:10:53 > 0:10:55- Yes!- Argh!

0:10:55 > 0:10:57- Well done!- You like that, don't you? - Yeah!

0:10:57 > 0:10:58THEY LAUGH

0:10:58 > 0:11:01- It's all on you now, Joe.- OK. - No pressure.

0:11:01 > 0:11:03Well, I've got to put pressure on it.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05It won't go in if I don't do that. Hey-hey!

0:11:05 > 0:11:08- WHIRRING - Ooh!- It's all right. It's OK.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10- Are you ready, Dave? - I'm ready, mate.

0:11:10 > 0:11:12- It's coming at ya. - It's coming at me.

0:11:12 > 0:11:14Oh! No, it's not. It's staying there for a bit.

0:11:14 > 0:11:16- It's staying there for a bit. - What does he need to do?

0:11:16 > 0:11:18With Nya's help and my hindrance,

0:11:18 > 0:11:20the team spend the rest of the morning

0:11:20 > 0:11:22putting up the structure of the den.

0:11:24 > 0:11:26The Dengineers' team are a tough bunch,

0:11:26 > 0:11:30and our Nya wants to find out who is the strongest of the lot.

0:11:30 > 0:11:34Time for the inaugural Dengineers' Push-up Challenge!

0:11:34 > 0:11:39Ow! These...these pebbles are like tiny little pins.

0:11:39 > 0:11:4113, 14...

0:11:41 > 0:11:44Go on, Olga. 14. Solid!

0:11:44 > 0:11:4629, 30. Yes!

0:11:48 > 0:11:49Ah. Best I could do.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52- JOE AND NYA:- 32, 33...

0:11:52 > 0:11:55- Oh! I'm done! I'm done!- Well done.

0:11:55 > 0:11:56Harry, do you want to give it a go?

0:11:56 > 0:12:00No, thanks. I'm an artist, not a sportswoman.

0:12:00 > 0:12:01Connor, it's your turn.

0:12:04 > 0:12:0635, 36...

0:12:06 > 0:12:09- Whoa! He's so good at this!- ..39...

0:12:09 > 0:12:12- Oh, is he going to go 40?- ..40.- 40!

0:12:17 > 0:12:19- Yeah!- 44! - LAUGHTER AND APPLAUSE

0:12:19 > 0:12:21- I've never wanted something more. - LAUGHTER

0:12:21 > 0:12:23- Last up. Are you ready?- Yes.

0:12:23 > 0:12:2732, 33... Go on!

0:12:27 > 0:12:3048, 49...

0:12:30 > 0:12:3250!

0:12:32 > 0:12:34CHEERING

0:12:34 > 0:12:36Well, that showed everybody, didn't it, really?

0:12:36 > 0:12:40The person who did the most push-ups on The Dengineers team was me.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44I didn't really expect it, but I was really happy about it.

0:12:46 > 0:12:48While the team rest their muscles,

0:12:48 > 0:12:50I grab five minutes with Nya's mum and dad

0:12:50 > 0:12:53to get the scoop on why she needs this awesome den.

0:12:54 > 0:12:56Where does Nya's interest in martial arts come from?

0:12:56 > 0:12:59I did do a little bit of martial arts before the children,

0:12:59 > 0:13:02so she's maybe seen me talk about it and wanted to give it a go.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05So, do you think if she does actually let you in the den,

0:13:05 > 0:13:07- you might take up martial arts yourself again?- Definitely.

0:13:07 > 0:13:10- She's got a younger brother. - She has, yeah. Cree.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13They share a room. And how old's Cree?

0:13:13 > 0:13:15He's only two. And he's a handful. He's not an easy two.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18Sometimes he wakes her up in the night, which isn't ideal

0:13:18 > 0:13:21when she's got sports on and she's going there tired.

0:13:21 > 0:13:23What do you think this is going to mean to her?

0:13:23 > 0:13:24Many positives from this.

0:13:24 > 0:13:27She's got her own space, she'll be in there training all the time.

0:13:27 > 0:13:29So, yeah, it'll really help her.

0:13:29 > 0:13:31How far do you think Nya can go with martial arts?

0:13:31 > 0:13:33You think maybe, like, the Olympics?

0:13:33 > 0:13:36That's Nya's dream. If you say, "What do you want to be?"

0:13:36 > 0:13:38- She's, like, "An athlete." - Brilliant.

0:13:38 > 0:13:40As day one comes to an end,

0:13:40 > 0:13:43the team have made brilliant progress with the den.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45Even finding time to put the roof on.

0:13:48 > 0:13:53Today has gone amazingly well, and it's all thanks to Nya.

0:13:53 > 0:13:56She painted the den, she helped with everything I've asked of her.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59Nya is a perfect Dengineer.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11It's day two in Manchester,

0:14:11 > 0:14:14and the team have arrived on site to a roofing catastrophe.

0:14:16 > 0:14:19Problem. Just because of the angle of the roof,

0:14:19 > 0:14:21we've put too much tension on the boards,

0:14:21 > 0:14:22so they've got a bit of a bow.

0:14:24 > 0:14:26This bow, or curve, means the team won't be able to fit

0:14:26 > 0:14:28the tiles to the roof correctly,

0:14:28 > 0:14:32which could result in water leaking into Nya's den.

0:14:32 > 0:14:34How are we going to get that down?

0:14:34 > 0:14:38We need to loosen the screws on that side and on that side.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44The only chance of saving the roof is to loosen the screws

0:14:44 > 0:14:46to relieve the pressure on the wood,

0:14:46 > 0:14:50before flattening out the roof back to its original shape.

0:14:50 > 0:14:53Solved. Just need to screw it all back together now.

0:14:53 > 0:14:55WHIRRING

0:15:01 > 0:15:04- Yeah, that's better. It's done. Fixed it.- Fixed.

0:15:06 > 0:15:08With the roof sorted, the team crack on,

0:15:08 > 0:15:10laying 32 square metres of metal tiles,

0:15:10 > 0:15:13which aren't only durable and waterproof,

0:15:13 > 0:15:15but will also give Nya the Japanese style she's after.

0:15:17 > 0:15:20Nya's den has two spectacular sliding doors,

0:15:20 > 0:15:22and I want to find out the engineering challenges

0:15:22 > 0:15:24this has brought to chief carpenter, David.

0:15:27 > 0:15:29- Dave.- Joe.- Sliding doors.- Yes.

0:15:29 > 0:15:31- I like them.- OK.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34Can you tell me more about them? Because I don't know how they work.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36Well, I can give you a bit of a demo.

0:15:36 > 0:15:39- If you imagine...- Right.- ..this is the main structure of the den...

0:15:39 > 0:15:42- OK.- ..this is the door. Very rough-textured.

0:15:42 > 0:15:45If you just put them together, friction would take over

0:15:45 > 0:15:48and they'd be really stiff and wouldn't move very easily.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50So they wouldn't slide. We had to get around that somehow,

0:15:50 > 0:15:53- to make them slide nice and easy. - Yeah.

0:15:53 > 0:15:55So what we do is we make a channel.

0:15:55 > 0:15:57- Yeah.- Something like that.

0:15:57 > 0:15:58- OK.- Yes?- Right.

0:15:58 > 0:16:02But there's a magic ingredient that you need to make this work properly.

0:16:02 > 0:16:04- Exciting.- Which are...

0:16:04 > 0:16:05- Ball bearings.- Ball bearings.

0:16:05 > 0:16:07- Really? - Ball bearings are the key to this.

0:16:07 > 0:16:09So we place all the ball bearings...

0:16:09 > 0:16:13- OK, you fill the channels with the balls.- Yeah.- Gotcha.

0:16:13 > 0:16:17- OK. What we do then is take our door frame...- Right.

0:16:17 > 0:16:18- ..place it on top.- Yeah.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21- And how does that slide?- Oh, wow!

0:16:21 > 0:16:25So the ball bearings act like little wheels, almost.

0:16:25 > 0:16:26They do. They works as little wheels.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28- They've taken all the weight off. - Yeah.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31The channel stops them sliding off and falling all over the place,

0:16:31 > 0:16:34and it just makes a nice, easy sliding door.

0:16:34 > 0:16:37I really feel like I've learnt something, Dave. Thank you.

0:16:37 > 0:16:38No problem, mate.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42The key components in these sliding doors are the ball bearings

0:16:42 > 0:16:46that sit inside the wooden channels, reducing the amount of friction

0:16:46 > 0:16:48between the main structure of the den and the doors,

0:16:48 > 0:16:52allowing them to slide easily when opening and closing.

0:16:52 > 0:16:56These channels can be positioned at the bottom of the door,

0:16:56 > 0:16:58the top, or even both.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02It's been a frantic morning of den-building,

0:17:02 > 0:17:05so it's time to down tools for a well-deserved lunch break.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08It's lovely having the Dengineers taking over the house.

0:17:08 > 0:17:10Luckily, they're all fairly tidy.

0:17:11 > 0:17:14Fed and refreshed, the team head back to the garden

0:17:14 > 0:17:16to finish painting the inside of the den.

0:17:18 > 0:17:19Whilst Nya and Dengineer Harriet

0:17:19 > 0:17:21make some Japanese-style banners,

0:17:21 > 0:17:24using a fizzy-drink bottle to create the flowers.

0:17:24 > 0:17:26Moment of truth.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29Finished stamp. There we go.

0:17:29 > 0:17:31Oh, that one worked!

0:17:31 > 0:17:34Working on the Dengineers team, it's really exciting

0:17:34 > 0:17:36because you're getting your dream den built,

0:17:36 > 0:17:39and I think it feels quite nice for everybody working together

0:17:39 > 0:17:41to build my den.

0:17:42 > 0:17:45If Nya is going to reach the Olympics one day,

0:17:45 > 0:17:48I want her to see what it takes to become a Team GB athlete,

0:17:48 > 0:17:50so we're taking a break from the build to come to

0:17:50 > 0:17:54the British Judo Centre of Excellence in Walsall.

0:17:54 > 0:17:58Check those guys out! Look at their moves! It's amazing!

0:17:58 > 0:18:00I could watch this all day.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03So, Nya, it's pretty cool in here, but what I was thinking is,

0:18:03 > 0:18:05wouldn't it be even cooler

0:18:05 > 0:18:08if we could meet an Olympian

0:18:08 > 0:18:13who went to Rio 2016 and who won a bronze medal?

0:18:13 > 0:18:15- Would that be all right? - Yeah, that would be amazing.

0:18:15 > 0:18:19That would be really amazing! Sally? Hi!

0:18:19 > 0:18:21- Hey!- Hi!

0:18:21 > 0:18:23- Hi, Nya! How you doing?- Good.- Good?

0:18:23 > 0:18:26Olympic bronze medallist Sally Conway

0:18:26 > 0:18:30is one of world's top judo stars, and therefore the perfect person

0:18:30 > 0:18:33to teach our Nya some pro moves.

0:18:33 > 0:18:36The first throw I'm going to show you today is ippon seoi nage.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39It's one of my favourite throws.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42So you grip there and then you're going to step there,

0:18:42 > 0:18:44there, and I'm going to pick you up, like that,

0:18:44 > 0:18:46and throw you over my shoulder.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49- Whoa!- Do you want to have a go?

0:18:49 > 0:18:50- OK.- OK.

0:18:54 > 0:18:55What do you think of her skills, Sally?

0:18:55 > 0:18:57Pretty impressive. Professional!

0:18:57 > 0:18:59Ready?

0:18:59 > 0:19:02Aw, that was the best one! I think you're a quick learner.

0:19:03 > 0:19:07Nya is picking it up so quickly. She just gets it.

0:19:07 > 0:19:11Being taught judo throws by an Olympian, it was just amazing.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14It makes me feel like I'm actually one of them.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17Do you think you can throw Lauren now? Are you ready?

0:19:18 > 0:19:22OK, Nya, it's me versus you.

0:19:22 > 0:19:23Go easy on me, will you?

0:19:25 > 0:19:27Here we go! And... Whoa!

0:19:27 > 0:19:29Oh, good, Nya! Excellent!

0:19:29 > 0:19:31Whoa!

0:19:31 > 0:19:34Good. Good. Yes!

0:19:34 > 0:19:38Oh! Ho-ho-ho-ho-ho-ho! That actually hurt! Help me!

0:19:40 > 0:19:43My dream is to go to the Olympics and represent Great Britain.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46What advice do you have for getting there?

0:19:46 > 0:19:50To get to the Olympic Games, it takes a lot of hard work.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52It's just about learning from your mistakes

0:19:52 > 0:19:54and always trying to better yourself.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56Before we go, can we see your medal?

0:19:56 > 0:19:59- Of course you can.- Yes! - Do you want to see it, Nya? OK.

0:20:01 > 0:20:02- Wow!- There we go.- How cool is that?

0:20:02 > 0:20:04- Would you like to hold it? - Have a look.

0:20:04 > 0:20:08Could you see yourself with one of those around your neck one day?

0:20:08 > 0:20:09- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:20:09 > 0:20:12I think today's been absolutely brilliant.

0:20:12 > 0:20:14I still want to go to the Olympics.

0:20:14 > 0:20:17I'm going to keep on doing what I'm doing

0:20:17 > 0:20:19and hopefully, I'll get there one day.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23Back at the den, day three is in full swing,

0:20:23 > 0:20:26and the team are starting to fit the training equipment

0:20:26 > 0:20:29which will help Nya master her martial arts moves.

0:20:31 > 0:20:33This wooden dummy is used to practise

0:20:33 > 0:20:35the traditional Chinese martial art, Wing Chun,

0:20:35 > 0:20:39which was invented in the 17th century as a form of self-defence.

0:20:39 > 0:20:43And we've invited Wing Chun expert Master Moy along

0:20:43 > 0:20:46to help Nya learn the correct technique for this equipment.

0:20:46 > 0:20:48This simulates your opponent's body.

0:20:48 > 0:20:52So it teaches you to move around your opponent.

0:20:52 > 0:20:55We're going to do some simple parrying techniques.

0:20:55 > 0:20:58So it's like we're slapping the opponent's hands away from us.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01- You want to try?- OK.- OK.

0:21:01 > 0:21:05So, one...two...three on the outside,

0:21:05 > 0:21:08and then four on the other side.

0:21:08 > 0:21:12And then five...and then six on the inside.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15That's it. Seven...

0:21:15 > 0:21:16..eight.

0:21:16 > 0:21:19And that's it. OK?

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Now, the next ones, you've got to move a bit more, OK?

0:21:24 > 0:21:28So...one, two, three, four,

0:21:28 > 0:21:30five, six... Good!

0:21:30 > 0:21:33..seven, eight. Well done.

0:21:33 > 0:21:37I think that Nya picked up those Wing Chun techniques really well.

0:21:37 > 0:21:40Because they're not easy. They're very complicated.

0:21:40 > 0:21:42She's got a talent there,

0:21:42 > 0:21:46so whatever she decided to do, she could be really, really good at it.

0:21:47 > 0:21:49Back in the garden, the team are busy

0:21:49 > 0:21:51fitting the rest of the training equipment.

0:21:53 > 0:21:55Yay!

0:21:55 > 0:21:58And they're doing so without Nya,

0:21:58 > 0:22:02because she won't see the den again until the Big Reveal tomorrow.

0:22:02 > 0:22:05I'm feeling quite chilled about not seeing my den

0:22:05 > 0:22:07because I know the Dengineers will do a good job of it.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11Nya might not be able to see the den, but that doesn't mean

0:22:11 > 0:22:14she can't still help our Olga with the Upcycle.

0:22:20 > 0:22:23So, Nya, in your den, you're going to need some hooks

0:22:23 > 0:22:26to hook your clothes when you're going to exercise,

0:22:26 > 0:22:31so I've found a piece of wood and an old toy

0:22:31 > 0:22:34to change them into hooks for you.

0:22:34 > 0:22:36Sounds really, really good.

0:22:36 > 0:22:38The first step of this awesome upcycle is to carefully

0:22:38 > 0:22:42saw the dragon toy in half to create two clothes hooks.

0:22:44 > 0:22:46That's it. Well done!

0:22:46 > 0:22:49Before moving on to painting both the hooks.

0:22:49 > 0:22:52You make it look so easy.

0:22:52 > 0:22:54And the wooden base they'll be attached to.

0:22:54 > 0:22:56I think you did a great job here.

0:22:56 > 0:22:59The next time Nya will see her upcycled clothes hooks,

0:22:59 > 0:23:02they'll have pride of place on the walls of her den.

0:23:04 > 0:23:06Day three has come to an end in Manchester,

0:23:06 > 0:23:10and the den is looking in great shape for the Big Reveal tomorrow.

0:23:12 > 0:23:15It's the morning of day four, and we want this den looking perfect

0:23:15 > 0:23:17for the Big Reveal in a few hours' time.

0:23:20 > 0:23:23But first, there's a puzzle to solve.

0:23:23 > 0:23:24They're not the same size!

0:23:24 > 0:23:27That of Nya's martial arts floor mats.

0:23:27 > 0:23:30I don't understand it. Can I wedge it in?

0:23:30 > 0:23:33- Turn it around, turn it around. - Turn it...? It's a square!

0:23:33 > 0:23:35Just turn it around!

0:23:35 > 0:23:37Argh! This is so annoying!

0:23:37 > 0:23:39Why doesn't it fit?!

0:23:41 > 0:23:43Come on! We can do it!

0:23:43 > 0:23:46- And now the last one. - Just squeeze that in.- Come on!

0:23:46 > 0:23:48Yes! We did it!

0:23:48 > 0:23:50Yes!

0:23:50 > 0:23:53With the matting mystery finally solved,

0:23:53 > 0:23:56the Dengineers make one final push towards the finish line.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04And that is signed by an Olympian.

0:24:13 > 0:24:17This patch of garden started as a blank canvas.

0:24:17 > 0:24:18But Olga and the Dengineers

0:24:18 > 0:24:21have worked wonders over the past four days,

0:24:21 > 0:24:24and transformed it into a magnificent martial arts den

0:24:24 > 0:24:26where Nya can master her moves.

0:24:28 > 0:24:31The stage is set for the Big Reveal, and Nya's friends and family

0:24:31 > 0:24:33have arrived at the house to see the den.

0:24:35 > 0:24:38I'm really excited about seeing my completed den.

0:24:38 > 0:24:39It's going to be very important

0:24:39 > 0:24:42because it will help me for, like, my future.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45I'm most excited about just seeing the finished result.

0:24:45 > 0:24:48I've heard lots of clattering and banging and things being done,

0:24:48 > 0:24:51but I've no idea what's in there, so I'm excited to see

0:24:51 > 0:24:53and excited to see the space that Nya's going to have.

0:24:54 > 0:24:57Open the curtains, I can't cope.

0:24:57 > 0:24:59Well, Mum, you don't have to wait any longer

0:24:59 > 0:25:01because it's countdown time.

0:25:01 > 0:25:05ALL: Three...two...one!

0:25:05 > 0:25:07- Whoa!- Oh-ho!

0:25:07 > 0:25:09Oh, my word!

0:25:09 > 0:25:11Nya, what do you think?

0:25:11 > 0:25:14I think it looks absolutely amazing!

0:25:14 > 0:25:17- It's better than I even expected! - Yes!- A-ha!

0:25:19 > 0:25:22Nya wanted a martial arts den in a traditional Japanese style,

0:25:22 > 0:25:26and the Dengineers have delivered on a huge scale.

0:25:26 > 0:25:28I really like the roof.

0:25:28 > 0:25:30- What do you like about the roof? - That pattern, like, the wavy one.

0:25:30 > 0:25:32What else do you like the look of, Nya?

0:25:32 > 0:25:34I really like the look of the handle.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37It must have had a lot of detail put into it.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39The structure has been designed to look like

0:25:39 > 0:25:41a traditional Japanese tea house,

0:25:41 > 0:25:44with an awesome tiled roof, iconic sliding doors

0:25:44 > 0:25:47and we've added even more Japanese style

0:25:47 > 0:25:49with Nya's very own dragon logo.

0:25:49 > 0:25:53I think that my amazing den is amazing.

0:25:53 > 0:25:55It's even better than I imagined.

0:25:55 > 0:25:57Aw! Sally!

0:25:57 > 0:25:59That IS Sally,

0:25:59 > 0:26:03and that picture is actually only one of four in the entire world.

0:26:03 > 0:26:05Amazing!

0:26:05 > 0:26:07You've got your Wing Chun here.

0:26:07 > 0:26:10You've also got a pull-up bar there for your strength.

0:26:10 > 0:26:12- How cool?- And I can actually reach it, I think.

0:26:12 > 0:26:13Go on, have a go.

0:26:15 > 0:26:18- Yeah!- Yeah!- Bring it on! - There you go!

0:26:18 > 0:26:19That is amazing!

0:26:19 > 0:26:24As well as this chin-up bar, there's a punch bag to improve Nya's stamina

0:26:24 > 0:26:27and a Wing Chun wooden dummy to help her master her technique.

0:26:27 > 0:26:31Also on the inside, Nya's got some mementos from her Den Day Out,

0:26:31 > 0:26:34her upcycled dragon clothes hooks,

0:26:34 > 0:26:39and there's one final surprise to add some ninja mystery to this dojo.

0:26:39 > 0:26:42Whoops-a-daisy! Hello!

0:26:42 > 0:26:45- What do you think of that? - I think it looks amazing!

0:26:45 > 0:26:47I think it's the best part of the den.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49Is this the perfect space?

0:26:49 > 0:26:51- Yeah.- Oh, I'm so glad!

0:26:51 > 0:26:54- Is it everything you wanted it to be?- Yeah, even more.

0:26:54 > 0:26:58This den is going to mean to me, like, going to the Olympics one day,

0:26:58 > 0:27:00I think it's going to make my dream come true.

0:27:00 > 0:27:03I just love everything about it.

0:27:03 > 0:27:04Thank you for building my den.

0:27:04 > 0:27:07You're welcome. It was a pleasure. We built it together.

0:27:07 > 0:27:10It was an absolute pleasure to work with her,

0:27:10 > 0:27:13and I'm so glad she likes what we've achieved together.

0:27:14 > 0:27:17- Wow! It's wicked, isn't it?- Oh, my!
