0:01:15 > 0:01:18- Woo!- Get in.- Mm!

0:01:24 > 0:01:28Today's Dengineer is ten-year-old Dilara, from Leeds.

0:01:28 > 0:01:30Please, Dengineers, I really need help.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32I'm half Turkish, but I don't get to go there

0:01:32 > 0:01:33as much as I'd like,

0:01:33 > 0:01:37so I'd like to have a den in my back garden to bring it to me instead.

0:01:37 > 0:01:42Dilara's dad was born in Turkey and moved to the UK 14 years ago.

0:01:42 > 0:01:45It's important that both girls understand

0:01:45 > 0:01:47that they're part Turkish, part English

0:01:47 > 0:01:51and that they understand the language and culture of Turkey.

0:01:51 > 0:01:55When Dilara visits Turkey, there's one thing she really loves to do -

0:01:55 > 0:01:58enjoy a nice cup of traditional tea with her grandma.

0:02:00 > 0:02:02When they do go over, she makes a big fuss

0:02:02 > 0:02:04and there's lots of cuddles and kisses.

0:02:04 > 0:02:08There's just a lot of love, really, even though we're so far away.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13Turkey is over 2,000 miles away from England,

0:02:13 > 0:02:15and although she can't visit there often,

0:02:15 > 0:02:18that doesn't stop Dilara learning as much as she can

0:02:18 > 0:02:21about the country and passing that knowledge onto her mates.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Dog is kopek.

0:02:23 > 0:02:24Kopek.

0:02:24 > 0:02:26I think having a Turkish den

0:02:26 > 0:02:29would be really cool for Dilara

0:02:29 > 0:02:32because her den will remind her of how many happy memories

0:02:32 > 0:02:35she's had when she visited Turkey and visited her grandma.

0:02:37 > 0:02:38So tasty.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41She misses the culture, she misses the family,

0:02:41 > 0:02:43and I think, you know, for her to have a den here,

0:02:43 > 0:02:46it's, you know, a connection for her back in Turkey.

0:02:46 > 0:02:47Serefe.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52This girl needs a den to help celebrate

0:02:52 > 0:02:56and share her Turkish heritage with all of her friends.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59And a den is exactly what Dilara's going to get,

0:02:59 > 0:03:01she just doesn't know it yet.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05Today's surprise is going down

0:03:05 > 0:03:08in one of Dilara's favourite Turkish restaurants

0:03:08 > 0:03:12and our crack team are busy fitting hidden cameras all over the place.

0:03:12 > 0:03:16We've got Mum in on the hit, and she's not the only one...

0:03:16 > 0:03:17We're in a Turkish restaurant.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20We're about to surprise a half-Turkish girl,

0:03:20 > 0:03:23so I think it's only fitting we have some Turkish entertainment.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26Too right. Meet belly dancers Natalie and Sarah.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27- BOTH:- Hello.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30Hey, guys, so we need a massive distraction today

0:03:30 > 0:03:33so that we can sneak on in there and surprise our Dengineer.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35I reckon you've got the moves.

0:03:35 > 0:03:36Oh, yeah, how about this?

0:03:39 > 0:03:41- Yes!- That'll do. Come on, let's get in position.

0:03:41 > 0:03:42Let's go.

0:03:44 > 0:03:47The Dengineers team have finished setting up their cameras

0:03:47 > 0:03:49in the nick of time, as Dilara and her family

0:03:49 > 0:03:51have just arrived at the restaurant.

0:03:54 > 0:03:55That was actually really close.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58Her little sister turned round and, I think, saw me.

0:03:58 > 0:04:01Get in there. Do your thing. Be the perfect distraction.

0:04:01 > 0:04:02- Good luck.- Thank you.

0:04:06 > 0:04:09Dilara is definitely distracted.

0:04:09 > 0:04:11Time to give her the shock of her life.

0:04:14 > 0:04:18Hello. Hi, we're looking for Dilara.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Dilara, is that you?

0:04:20 > 0:04:22Hello, Dilara.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24Hello, Dilara, how are you?

0:04:25 > 0:04:27- So, my name is Lauren.- I'm Joe.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29And we're from CBBC's The Dengineers.

0:04:31 > 0:04:34We've heard that you want to build your very own special den

0:04:34 > 0:04:37that celebrates your Turkish heritage, is that right?

0:04:37 > 0:04:38Yeah.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41You are in luck today because that's exactly what you're going to get!

0:04:41 > 0:04:45We have got a lot of work that we need to get done,

0:04:45 > 0:04:47so I'm afraid we're going to whisk you away and get cracking.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50- Come on, Dilara. - Come on, let's go.- Bye, everyone.

0:04:50 > 0:04:54I'm really excited because it's a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57It's my den, so I can choose whatever I want.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59I can't believe it's actually happened.

0:04:59 > 0:05:04Dad's family over in Turkey, they'll be really excited about the den

0:05:04 > 0:05:06and, you know, celebrating Turkish culture.

0:05:06 > 0:05:08I'm more excited than Dilara!

0:05:10 > 0:05:12I'm really excited to tell my grandma.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16I think that she'll be very happy to look at this den,

0:05:16 > 0:05:18she'll be very proud of me.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Our first port of call is the Dengineers mobile HQ,

0:05:21 > 0:05:26which has some mega cool technology to get this den rolling.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28In here, Dilara, is where we're going to download

0:05:28 > 0:05:31all of those ideas that you've got in your mind

0:05:31 > 0:05:32onto this mahoosive screen

0:05:32 > 0:05:35and come up with the design for your den.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38And remember, you're the boss, so if you see anything you like

0:05:38 > 0:05:39and want it in your den,

0:05:39 > 0:05:42- just grab it and throw it up onto the screen, all right?- Yes.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45So, first of all, tell us what the idea is.

0:05:45 > 0:05:46Turkish tea house.

0:05:46 > 0:05:49That sounds amazing. What made you come up with the idea for that?

0:05:49 > 0:05:52Well, most of my family live in Turkey.

0:05:52 > 0:05:55You must miss them if they're over in Turkey. Do you see them much?

0:05:55 > 0:05:57Well, I see them once a year.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59That's not that much, is it?

0:05:59 > 0:06:02So, Dilara, if you want to come up to the screen and see

0:06:02 > 0:06:04- if you like anything. - I like this one.

0:06:04 > 0:06:06That's beautiful.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09That would be great if it was all lit by the lanterns.

0:06:09 > 0:06:12- This is my grandma. - And she makes the tea, does she?

0:06:12 > 0:06:15- Yes.- So you want to take after your grandma and make some brilliant tea?

0:06:15 > 0:06:17Yeah.

0:06:17 > 0:06:22Mosaics. You find tiles and mosaics in Turkish tea houses.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25- I like that one. - That's really nice.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27- Is that like a tea tray?- Yeah.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30So you can bring it out to anyone that's waiting for a cup.

0:06:30 > 0:06:32Yeah.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35Well, Dilara, I think this looks proper unique.

0:06:35 > 0:06:40We've never had a den that celebrates a whole country.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44Dilara has decided on a mosaic tiled look for her Turkish den,

0:06:44 > 0:06:48with cool lighting and lots of ornate tea-making kit

0:06:48 > 0:06:52so she can make tasty tea for all of her friends and family.

0:06:52 > 0:06:57But which designer will bring Dilara's Turkish tea house to life?

0:06:57 > 0:06:59Meet Tony and Satwinder.

0:06:59 > 0:07:02They're both awesome architects and lecturers

0:07:02 > 0:07:04who, between them, have over 40 years' experience

0:07:04 > 0:07:07designing sensational structures.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09They're the dream duo for this den.

0:07:11 > 0:07:14You like drinking tea, yeah?

0:07:14 > 0:07:16Great, so we're going to have somewhere where you can make tea,

0:07:16 > 0:07:18maybe we could have a little hatch that opens up

0:07:18 > 0:07:21and then you can serve tea to your friends. How does that sound?

0:07:21 > 0:07:22Really good.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25We really want to capture the smells and aromas of Turkey

0:07:25 > 0:07:27so we've had this idea of a spice wall.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30It'd be really nice that when you open the door of your den,

0:07:30 > 0:07:34it kind of evokes the spirit of Turkey, transporting you there.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37- How do you feel about all that, Dilara?- Really happy.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40And then the front, we've got some really good ideas

0:07:40 > 0:07:43but we want to kind of hold that back so it's a bit of a surprise.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46- Are you happy to sign off our plans? - Yes.

0:07:46 > 0:07:47Excellent.

0:07:47 > 0:07:49LAUREN: Tony and Satwinder's plans

0:07:49 > 0:07:51have been given the big tick from Dilara.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55They've designed a vibrant mosaic-tiled exterior

0:07:55 > 0:07:56to her Turkish tea house

0:07:56 > 0:07:59with a front door that doubles as a serving hatch.

0:07:59 > 0:08:02On the inside, Dilara will have tea-making equipment,

0:08:02 > 0:08:05an aromatic wall of spice, and a cool chill-out area,

0:08:05 > 0:08:08complete with traditional Turkish lighting.

0:08:08 > 0:08:12I like their plans because they've brought my plans to life.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14It will remind me of my grandma.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16My grandma means a lot to me

0:08:16 > 0:08:20and I want to bring part of her back to England.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22This is a really important den for Dilara

0:08:22 > 0:08:24because she's got strong connections with Turkey

0:08:24 > 0:08:27and we want to conjure up the atmosphere of Turkey

0:08:27 > 0:08:29when she opens up the door.

0:08:29 > 0:08:32We just want to do a really great job.

0:08:32 > 0:08:35Dilara wants to put her den in this area of the garden,

0:08:35 > 0:08:36but there's one thing in the way...

0:08:38 > 0:08:40Who does the shed belong to?

0:08:40 > 0:08:41My dad.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43- Does he like the shed? - Yes, a lot.

0:08:43 > 0:08:46- What do you think we should do? - I think we should move it.

0:08:46 > 0:08:47We COULD move it.

0:08:47 > 0:08:50We're going to need something pretty big. Have you got any ideas?

0:08:50 > 0:08:52- Yeah, maybe a crane? - That's a great idea.

0:08:52 > 0:08:55I actually know just the guy...

0:08:55 > 0:08:56..for the crane.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01I'm not actually phoning anybody.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05- Yeah, Joe. Joe, it's fine.- OK. - Just leave it to us.- OK.

0:09:05 > 0:09:06To get Dad's shed moved,

0:09:06 > 0:09:09we've called in a colossus of the crane world -

0:09:09 > 0:09:10The Hiab.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16This beast can lift a maximum of seven tonnes,

0:09:16 > 0:09:18so Dad's shed SHOULD be a doddle.

0:09:20 > 0:09:24- You really, really love this shed, don't you?- I do, I do.

0:09:24 > 0:09:26Andrew, are we going to be able to move this in one piece?

0:09:26 > 0:09:29Fingers crossed we're going to move it in once piece.

0:09:29 > 0:09:30Thanks for that, Andrew.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36The first step of Operation Shift That Shed

0:09:36 > 0:09:40is to attach some straps around Dad's pride and joy.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47Everything securely attached, it's time to do a test lift.

0:09:49 > 0:09:54Don't panic, they have brought, like, their top experts

0:09:54 > 0:09:59to be lifting this shed, which appears to just be your daughter.

0:09:59 > 0:10:02You push that button forward.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05That's it, your shed's in the air.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07Dilara's test lift passed with flying colours,

0:10:07 > 0:10:10now it's time for the real thing.

0:10:10 > 0:10:12And we're lifting the shed!

0:10:15 > 0:10:17I'm going to pretend I'm not panicking.

0:10:26 > 0:10:28Do I look scared?

0:10:31 > 0:10:34It's now the highest shed in Leeds.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38The shed has made it safely over the hedge...

0:10:38 > 0:10:40Ooh.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43Now there's the small task of getting it

0:10:43 > 0:10:46into the front garden unscathed.

0:10:46 > 0:10:5050% done, 50% could still drop it and smash it on the floor.

0:10:52 > 0:10:57Worst-case scenario, Dad's shed breaks into a million pieces,

0:10:57 > 0:10:59but at least you'll still get your den, Dilara.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07So nearly there.

0:11:13 > 0:11:15They brought the house down.

0:11:15 > 0:11:17House down.

0:11:17 > 0:11:18Thanks, Gurbuz.

0:11:19 > 0:11:23I'm very happy because I love my shed,

0:11:23 > 0:11:26so it's in one piece in the place I want it.

0:11:26 > 0:11:29Dad, your shed has shifted,

0:11:29 > 0:11:32so unfortunately we need you to follow in its shed steps,

0:11:32 > 0:11:35because... Read it and weep.

0:11:35 > 0:11:38Dengineers Only. So we'll see you later.

0:11:38 > 0:11:42- Bye.- Bye.- Bye, Dad. Obviously not MY dad. You've got a real name.

0:11:42 > 0:11:43Gurbuz.

0:11:46 > 0:11:50Family banished, the next job is to clear and flatten the den site...

0:11:50 > 0:11:51Thanks, Dilara.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55..before constructing a concrete base

0:11:55 > 0:11:58to support the weight of Dilara's den.

0:11:58 > 0:12:00With the ground ready for action,

0:12:00 > 0:12:04it's time for the rest of the Dengineers to rock up in Leeds.

0:12:04 > 0:12:06We're going back, back.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11Yeah!

0:12:14 > 0:12:17You can't beat a good drill, can you?

0:12:24 > 0:12:26Great dancing, Loz. Loved that.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29Anyway, the Dengineers have well and truly moved in,

0:12:29 > 0:12:31and the first job of the day is to put up the main structure

0:12:31 > 0:12:33of the Turkish tea house.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37Hiya, how are you doing?

0:12:39 > 0:12:40And with this den,

0:12:40 > 0:12:43Dilara has one request that's really important to her.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47Maybe I won't go to Turkey as often as I should when I'm older,

0:12:47 > 0:12:52so I really do want a den so when I walk in it, it feels like Turkey.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54I think we will succeed

0:12:54 > 0:12:58if we hit all her aims, which is about evoking Turkey,

0:12:58 > 0:12:59evoking her memories,

0:12:59 > 0:13:03making her feel like she's actually been transported there.

0:13:03 > 0:13:04Yeah.

0:13:04 > 0:13:07It may be cold and wet, but our tireless team of Dengineers

0:13:07 > 0:13:10buckle down to get the structure up,

0:13:10 > 0:13:15and Dilara's got the perfect beverage to keep everyone warm.

0:13:15 > 0:13:17Anyone for Turkish tea?

0:13:17 > 0:13:18Yes, please.

0:13:18 > 0:13:21What do you fancy - I've got spiced apple or mint?

0:13:21 > 0:13:23I'll have the apple.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25Do you want this one? It's spiced apple, that.

0:13:25 > 0:13:27- Lovely. Serefe.- Serefe.

0:13:27 > 0:13:29DRILL WHIRS

0:13:31 > 0:13:33Dilara's Turkish tea has done the trick,

0:13:33 > 0:13:35and as day one draws to a close,

0:13:35 > 0:13:38the main structure has gone up and the skylight has been fitted.

0:13:43 > 0:13:47The first day of my build has been really fun,

0:13:47 > 0:13:49so I can't wait to see what happens next.

0:13:53 > 0:13:56It's day two in Leeds and although the sun has finally arrived,

0:13:56 > 0:13:59yesterday's wet weather has taken its toll on the den.

0:14:01 > 0:14:05Last night it rained quite heavily, which is a good thing

0:14:05 > 0:14:08because we know it doesn't leak, but also we've noticed

0:14:08 > 0:14:11we're getting some water resting on the roof, which we call ponding.

0:14:11 > 0:14:14What happens is, if it's a bit too flat, the water settles

0:14:14 > 0:14:17a little bit, which is what's happening now.

0:14:17 > 0:14:18OK, so what are we going to do about it?

0:14:18 > 0:14:21What we're going to do is we're going to angle the roof

0:14:21 > 0:14:25a little bit more and the water will flow off then, and it'll be solved.

0:14:25 > 0:14:27It's a job we didn't really want to have to do

0:14:27 > 0:14:30because it's extra work, but if we can get that resolved

0:14:30 > 0:14:33quite quickly then we can crack on with the inside.

0:14:33 > 0:14:35Whilst the team attempt to raise the roof,

0:14:35 > 0:14:37I catch up with Tony and Satwinder

0:14:37 > 0:14:39to discuss the engineering challenges

0:14:39 > 0:14:43behind keeping the temperature of this den just right.

0:14:43 > 0:14:47Here in the UK, it can, on occasion, get quite warm, can't it?

0:14:47 > 0:14:49So I was just wondering how are we going to make sure

0:14:49 > 0:14:51that Dilara's den doesn't get too hot inside?

0:14:51 > 0:14:54Well, we've actually borrowed from principles

0:14:54 > 0:14:56that architects use in Turkey.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58The two main things that we've focused on

0:14:58 > 0:15:02was controlling the sunlight and the ventilation.

0:15:02 > 0:15:04So thinking about the ventilation first -

0:15:04 > 0:15:06if Dilara's got, say, five mates in there,

0:15:06 > 0:15:09just that amount of body heat, it's going to get warm inside,

0:15:09 > 0:15:11so it's important that we ventilate the space.

0:15:11 > 0:15:12So this is a model of the den

0:15:12 > 0:15:15and what we've done is we've created a door at the back

0:15:15 > 0:15:18and a door at the front, which allows air to circulate through.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21So instead of the air getting trapped in that space,

0:15:21 > 0:15:23it's got somewhere to travel, is that right?

0:15:23 > 0:15:26So the warm air always wants to move out to the cooler air,

0:15:26 > 0:15:28and then that draws in cooler air

0:15:28 > 0:15:31and creates this movement, and that's what ventilation is.

0:15:31 > 0:15:34By employing a two-door ventilation system,

0:15:34 > 0:15:36Tony and Satwinder have ensured that on hot days

0:15:36 > 0:15:39warm air won't get trapped inside the den,

0:15:39 > 0:15:42meaning Dilara and her friends will stay nice and cool.

0:15:42 > 0:15:45The second principle is how we deal with sunlight.

0:15:45 > 0:15:48So if you imagine this is the sun here, rising in the east,

0:15:48 > 0:15:52coming around to the south and then setting in the west.

0:15:52 > 0:15:55For our den, we've made sure we haven't got any windows

0:15:55 > 0:15:57on the south side, because the more sunlight

0:15:57 > 0:16:00that comes into a building, the hotter it's going to get.

0:16:00 > 0:16:04So what happens in Turkey is they often have windows

0:16:04 > 0:16:07up quite high, but we've not got much height because it's a den.

0:16:07 > 0:16:10So what we've done is place our window flat on the roof,

0:16:10 > 0:16:13like that, which then means there's no direct sunlight coming in.

0:16:13 > 0:16:15So getting the light come through,

0:16:15 > 0:16:18but not necessarily the heat of that sun peering on through?

0:16:18 > 0:16:20- Yep, spot on. - Yep, that's it. That's it.

0:16:20 > 0:16:23So it's a special kind of window, could call it a Sat-window?

0:16:23 > 0:16:25Eh, eh?

0:16:27 > 0:16:30Back in the garden and the skylight problem has been resolved

0:16:30 > 0:16:33and the team have moved onto the inside of the den.

0:16:33 > 0:16:36We've designed this worktop for you so you can have a place

0:16:36 > 0:16:39for making tea, and we've decided to tile it with these.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42- What do you think? - I really like them.

0:16:42 > 0:16:43Oh, brilliant, that's good.

0:16:43 > 0:16:46Tony and Satwinder have taken inspiration

0:16:46 > 0:16:49from Dilara's mosaic tile idea with this patterned worktop,

0:16:49 > 0:16:52and Tony needs her help to fit them into position.

0:16:54 > 0:16:56- You happy with that?- Yeah.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59After cutting and positioning the tiles precisely...

0:16:59 > 0:17:02Let's see if it fits.

0:17:02 > 0:17:05..it's time to stick the tiles down using adhesive,

0:17:05 > 0:17:06or special glue.

0:17:06 > 0:17:08What do you think your grandma would think of this?

0:17:08 > 0:17:11She'll be really happy for me.

0:17:11 > 0:17:15With everyone cracking on, I catch up with Dilara's mum and dad

0:17:15 > 0:17:18to find out more about the inspiration behind this den.

0:17:18 > 0:17:22So this is the amazing Grandma that we've heard so much about?

0:17:22 > 0:17:25- She doesn't see her grandma very often, does she?- Once a year.

0:17:25 > 0:17:28What does that mean to her when she does see her grandma?

0:17:28 > 0:17:30They never forget these times, I think, whenever we go out there.

0:17:30 > 0:17:33They are very close, but it's hard when we say goodbye.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35Loads of my family live abroad,

0:17:35 > 0:17:38so when I was growing up, I was just like Dilara.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40- It's quite tough, isn't it? - Yeah, it is.

0:17:40 > 0:17:43How much do you think she's looking forward to having this den?

0:17:43 > 0:17:45It's everything for her.

0:17:45 > 0:17:47Part of her identity is that she's Turkish

0:17:47 > 0:17:50and to have a little bit of Turkey in the garden, for her,

0:17:50 > 0:17:52it will be really positive for her.

0:17:55 > 0:17:58It's the end of day two, and the team have made brilliant progress

0:17:58 > 0:17:59on the den.

0:17:59 > 0:18:01What have you been doing here?

0:18:01 > 0:18:05We got some plain jars and got some ribbon and jazzed it up a bit.

0:18:05 > 0:18:07They're amazing. They are jazzy.

0:18:07 > 0:18:10Today's gone really well, there's been a lot to do.

0:18:10 > 0:18:11Dilara's been fantastic.

0:18:11 > 0:18:14All day she's been asking what she can do and how she can get involved.

0:18:14 > 0:18:18Having the Dengineer as part of the team, helping out,

0:18:18 > 0:18:20it makes a massive difference.

0:18:20 > 0:18:22It's day three in Leeds,

0:18:22 > 0:18:24and unfortunately for Dilara,

0:18:24 > 0:18:27this is the last time she'll see her den until the big reveal tomorrow.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30I'm really confident that Tony and Satwinder

0:18:30 > 0:18:31are going to make a good den,

0:18:31 > 0:18:33because they're really good designers

0:18:33 > 0:18:36and I think they're going to pull out all the stops to do it.

0:18:36 > 0:18:38To help take Dilara's mind off

0:18:38 > 0:18:40having a time-out from her tea house,

0:18:40 > 0:18:43we're off to find out how the pros produce tea.

0:18:45 > 0:18:50In the UK, we drink over 60 billion cups of tea per year,

0:18:50 > 0:18:54and this place makes 35 million tea bags a day.

0:18:55 > 0:18:59They put in 300 tea bags every minute.

0:18:59 > 0:19:01That's a lot.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04This factory produces over 80 blends of tea

0:19:04 > 0:19:08and it's Suzy's job to sample up to 1,000 cups of tea every day

0:19:08 > 0:19:11to find the perfect blend for our brews at home.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14Most of us have got 9,000 taste buds on our tongue,

0:19:14 > 0:19:16so the idea is you take a big spoon,

0:19:16 > 0:19:20you slurp it up really sharply to spray your taste buds.

0:19:20 > 0:19:21Like this, OK?

0:19:21 > 0:19:22SHE SLURPS

0:19:24 > 0:19:25So, like that.

0:19:25 > 0:19:28Pretty intense. You're going to do that on all of them?

0:19:28 > 0:19:31Basically, yeah, so when I do get going, I can be quite fast.

0:19:31 > 0:19:33On your marks, get set, slurp.

0:19:33 > 0:19:34SHE SLURPS

0:19:34 > 0:19:35SHE SLURPS

0:19:38 > 0:19:39She's in the tea zone.

0:19:39 > 0:19:40SHE SLURPS

0:19:43 > 0:19:44SHE SLURPS

0:19:44 > 0:19:47- How were they? - Yeah, pretty good.

0:19:47 > 0:19:51We've seen how the pros do it, now it's time for me and Dilara

0:19:51 > 0:19:54to make our tea-tasting debut with some caffeine-free infusions.

0:19:57 > 0:20:00Look at that, you're brilliant.

0:20:00 > 0:20:02They're you go, that was really good.

0:20:05 > 0:20:06It's so unnatural to spit it out.

0:20:06 > 0:20:10It is. You've been told your whole life not to spit or slurp your food.

0:20:10 > 0:20:14Dilara did so well at speed tasting.

0:20:14 > 0:20:16It's not actually an easy thing to do straight off,

0:20:16 > 0:20:19and I think she got it perfectly.

0:20:19 > 0:20:21We've got a bit of a treat for you now, Dilara.

0:20:21 > 0:20:23We've got a selection of different fruits and herbs

0:20:23 > 0:20:26to see what reminds you most of your favourite tea in Turkey

0:20:26 > 0:20:28and we can try to recreate it here.

0:20:28 > 0:20:31Wow, forget VIP, this is VI-tea!

0:20:32 > 0:20:34- I- liked it.

0:20:34 > 0:20:38The first tea I've got for you to taste is a sweet rhubarb tea.

0:20:44 > 0:20:46- I like that.- Yeah?- Yeah, it's nice.

0:20:46 > 0:20:49Six teas tasted, it's time for Dilara put together

0:20:49 > 0:20:52her very own blend of brew.

0:20:52 > 0:20:55- Well, I like this one. - The peppermint.

0:20:55 > 0:20:57And I like this one.

0:20:57 > 0:21:00Apple, shall we try it and see?

0:21:05 > 0:21:09- I like that. - It's quite balanced. Well done.

0:21:09 > 0:21:11Dilara's shown she's a talented tea taster

0:21:11 > 0:21:15and there's one final surprise coming her way.

0:21:15 > 0:21:19We've made your own box of tea, but it's not just any box,

0:21:19 > 0:21:22it's Dilara's Turkish Tea.

0:21:22 > 0:21:24- How good is that? - Really good.

0:21:24 > 0:21:27You can drink this in your den with your friends.

0:21:27 > 0:21:29- Who's that?- My grandma.

0:21:29 > 0:21:32- I think your grandma's going to love it, don't you?- Yeah.

0:21:32 > 0:21:33Really happy.

0:21:33 > 0:21:35Today has been really amazing.

0:21:35 > 0:21:38They made me a personalised box of Turkish tea.

0:21:38 > 0:21:41I'm definitely going to serve it to other people

0:21:41 > 0:21:44because I think it's nice to share my love of tea.

0:21:47 > 0:21:48Back at the build,

0:21:48 > 0:21:50the team have started tiling the front of the den

0:21:50 > 0:21:52to give it some serious wow factor.

0:21:53 > 0:21:55And in the front garden,

0:21:55 > 0:21:58Dilara's help is needed to Upcycle an old cable drum.

0:22:03 > 0:22:06What we're going to do is make this amazing table

0:22:06 > 0:22:10that you can drink tea and hang out with your friends.

0:22:10 > 0:22:12The first step of Satwinder's upcycle

0:22:12 > 0:22:15is to place some leftover broken tiles into a bag.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17Then it's hammer time.

0:22:21 > 0:22:23We've got loads of little pieces,

0:22:23 > 0:22:25and we'll stick them on the top of the drum,

0:22:25 > 0:22:28and that'll make a really great pattern.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31Next up is the intricate job of setting the broken tiles pieces

0:22:31 > 0:22:34in a special glue to create an awesome mosaic pattern.

0:22:36 > 0:22:38We have to be very patient and take our time,

0:22:38 > 0:22:42but the final effect will look absolutely amazing.

0:22:42 > 0:22:43Doing a great job there.

0:22:43 > 0:22:46Whilst Satwinder and Dilara finish the upcycle,

0:22:46 > 0:22:50Tony's been called to a potential catastrophe.

0:22:50 > 0:22:52We may be a few tiles short.

0:22:52 > 0:22:57We ordered plenty of tiles, but some have got cracked in transit

0:22:57 > 0:23:00and if any more are cracked, we're in trouble.

0:23:00 > 0:23:04To find out if this will spell disaster for Dilara's den,

0:23:04 > 0:23:07the team will have to count up the remaining tiles.

0:23:07 > 0:23:09The next five minutes are critical.

0:23:09 > 0:23:12If we don't have enough tiles, I don't know what we'll do.

0:23:22 > 0:23:25We've had a count up, we've got 42 tiles,

0:23:25 > 0:23:27we need 42 tiles,

0:23:27 > 0:23:32so we need to make sure that any cuts that we DO do are spot-on.

0:23:33 > 0:23:36The team need to be extremely delicate

0:23:36 > 0:23:39with every single cut because there's no time left

0:23:39 > 0:23:41to order any replacement tiles.

0:23:41 > 0:23:45One break here would completely ruin the front of the den.

0:23:45 > 0:23:46Is this the final tile?

0:23:46 > 0:23:49- It is.- Right, let's get it on, brilliant.

0:23:49 > 0:23:53So did we do 42 tiles with just 42 tiles?

0:23:53 > 0:23:56- We did. - That's perfection.

0:23:56 > 0:23:58The tiling drama has held the Dengineers up,

0:23:58 > 0:24:00so they have no choice but to work into the evening

0:24:00 > 0:24:03to get back on track for the big reveal tomorrow.

0:24:07 > 0:24:11It's day four in Leeds, and there's just enough to add

0:24:11 > 0:24:14some finishing touches to Dilara's den before the big reveal.

0:24:14 > 0:24:15How long have we got?

0:24:18 > 0:24:21- Yeah, that's level. - OK.- Amazing.- Are we done?

0:24:21 > 0:24:22- Done.- Are we done?- We're done!

0:24:31 > 0:24:35This patch of garden used to be home to Dad's beloved shed.

0:24:35 > 0:24:38But after four days of hard graft,

0:24:38 > 0:24:41Tony, Satwinder and the Dengineers have transformed it

0:24:41 > 0:24:43into an incredible Turkish tea house,

0:24:43 > 0:24:46where Dilara can enjoy a lovely brew.

0:24:46 > 0:24:50The stage is set for the big reveal, and Dilara's friends and family

0:24:50 > 0:24:52have arrived at the house, eager to see the den.

0:24:52 > 0:24:54I'm really excited about seeing my den

0:24:54 > 0:24:57because I've waited so long for it, and finally, it's going to happen.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00I'm just so excited, really, about seeing how Dilara's ideas

0:25:00 > 0:25:03have come to fruition and how it's going to look.

0:25:03 > 0:25:06It's really important when I walk into the den

0:25:06 > 0:25:07I feel like I'm in Turkey,

0:25:07 > 0:25:10because that's the whole point that I want to get across.

0:25:10 > 0:25:14ALL: Three, two, one...

0:25:14 > 0:25:17CHEERING

0:25:17 > 0:25:19What do you think about that, Dilara?

0:25:19 > 0:25:22I'm really happy. I love it.

0:25:22 > 0:25:24Dilara dreamt of a Turkish tea house den

0:25:24 > 0:25:28where she could share her culture and make some delicious tea,

0:25:28 > 0:25:32and Tony, Satwinder and the Dengineers have delivered big-time.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35It's your very own menu board.

0:25:36 > 0:25:38Absolutely fantastic.

0:25:38 > 0:25:40It looks a bit like my mum's house.

0:25:42 > 0:25:45The front is decked out with colourful, mosaic-effect tiles,

0:25:45 > 0:25:48giving an instant hit of Turkish style.

0:25:48 > 0:25:52And the door of Dilara's den doubles up as a serving hatch,

0:25:52 > 0:25:54so she can share her tea with her friends and family

0:25:54 > 0:25:56whenever she wants.

0:25:56 > 0:25:58Aw, it's so cool!

0:25:58 > 0:26:01This is one of the prettiest ones I think we've ever done.

0:26:01 > 0:26:05- I love it!- How similar is this to Grandma's house?

0:26:05 > 0:26:08It's really similar, it looks a lot like it.

0:26:08 > 0:26:09- Yes!- Nailed it.

0:26:11 > 0:26:15On the inside, Dilara has an awesome tea-making area,

0:26:15 > 0:26:18a spice wall to remind her of the smells and aromas of Turkey,

0:26:18 > 0:26:20and a relaxing chill-out area

0:26:20 > 0:26:24complete with a skylight and her upcycled cable-drum table.

0:26:24 > 0:26:28Aww, I could so imagine having a lovely cup of tea on here.

0:26:28 > 0:26:31It's so cool, everything's amazing.

0:26:31 > 0:26:33This den is going to mean a lot to me

0:26:33 > 0:26:38because it's going to take me back to Turkey whenever I'm inside it.

0:26:38 > 0:26:40Dilara's on top of the world,

0:26:40 > 0:26:43and there's one final surprise she knows nothing about...

0:26:45 > 0:26:49- Aw!- It's your very own little herb and garden patch.

0:26:51 > 0:26:55Once a log storage zone, this is now a garden hideaway

0:26:55 > 0:26:57where Dilara can grow loads of ingredients

0:26:57 > 0:26:58to make a cracking cuppa.

0:26:59 > 0:27:02We know how important it was that this feels like a bit of Turkey

0:27:02 > 0:27:04for you - does it feel like that?

0:27:04 > 0:27:07Yeah, you've done more than I thought. Thank you so much.

0:27:07 > 0:27:09It's an absolute pleasure.

0:27:09 > 0:27:11We're really pleased that Dilara loves her den,

0:27:11 > 0:27:13she been fantastic to work with.

0:27:13 > 0:27:14She's had some wonderful ideas

0:27:14 > 0:27:17to make this magical thing come together.

0:27:17 > 0:27:19What do we think Grandma would have to say about this?

0:27:19 > 0:27:22She'd be wanting to make some tea!

0:27:24 > 0:27:26I'm really looking forward to telling my grandma

0:27:26 > 0:27:28because I know she's going to be really proud of me,

0:27:28 > 0:27:30and I think she's going to be really grateful

0:27:30 > 0:27:33that you've produced something this great.
