0:00:02 > 0:00:04This is the Let's Go Club, but mini.
0:00:04 > 0:00:06Expect making, exploring,
0:00:06 > 0:00:08super-sizing, dancing,
0:00:08 > 0:00:10fact-finding and laughing.
0:00:10 > 0:00:12We've only got five minutes,
0:00:12 > 0:00:16so get ready for more fun from the Let's Go Club.
0:00:18 > 0:00:20# Let's go! #
0:00:20 > 0:00:23- I'm Jamie.- I'm Chloe.
0:00:23 > 0:00:26- BOTH:- Today, we're finding out how to make kites.
0:00:33 > 0:00:37We're meeting Paul, who knows lots about kites.
0:00:38 > 0:00:41- Hello.- Hello.- Hello.
0:00:41 > 0:00:43Is it hard to make a kite?
0:00:43 > 0:00:46Some kites are quite complicated to make, like this one.
0:00:46 > 0:00:49It has lots of different shaped pieces in it.
0:00:49 > 0:00:53It has be stitched together. Can you tell what this kite is?
0:00:53 > 0:00:57- A pterodactyl.- That's right. - Why do some kites have long tails?
0:00:57 > 0:01:00To keep them stable and help them fly straight.
0:01:00 > 0:01:02And they look nice and pretty.
0:01:02 > 0:01:05This is the type of kite we're going to make - a Delta kite.
0:01:05 > 0:01:08The first thing we do is fasten this triangle
0:01:08 > 0:01:10to the bottom of that triangle.
0:01:10 > 0:01:14And we're going to put the tape from that end to that end.
0:01:14 > 0:01:19Can you push the tape down for me nice and tight now?
0:01:19 > 0:01:22What are we going to do to make the kite nice and strong?
0:01:22 > 0:01:25- Sticks.- If you hold that and stick it on there.
0:01:25 > 0:01:29Perfect. We need to roll this over now. That's right.
0:01:29 > 0:01:31Can you stick that down there?
0:01:33 > 0:01:35This is really fun.
0:01:35 > 0:01:39We need to turn it round now and stick the other side the same.
0:01:41 > 0:01:44Hold it nice and tight there. Pull.
0:01:46 > 0:01:50Then we have to put one more piece in. That has to go down the middle.
0:01:54 > 0:01:57It's still a little bit floppy this way.
0:01:57 > 0:02:01We've stitched some loops of line through to hold the last stick.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04That has to hook onto that piece of string.
0:02:05 > 0:02:07Yep, perfect.
0:02:07 > 0:02:10Can kites only come in one shape, or in any shape?
0:02:10 > 0:02:12Lots of different shapes,
0:02:12 > 0:02:16but some shapes are more difficult to make fly than others.
0:02:16 > 0:02:19We've finished the kite. It looks wonderful.
0:02:19 > 0:02:22All you need to do now is decorate it.
0:02:25 > 0:02:29That's nice and big and bold, so you can see it in the sky.
0:02:40 > 0:02:45- What do you think of the kite, Jamie?- Really good.- Good.
0:02:45 > 0:02:49OK, I think you've done a great job. Look at that. Fantastic.
0:02:49 > 0:02:54- Do you think it will fly?- I think so. I know just the place to try.
0:03:10 > 0:03:13This looks like a good place.
0:03:13 > 0:03:17You need to have the wind on your back and the kite this way.
0:03:17 > 0:03:20The wind's coming from behind me, blowing that way. OK?
0:03:20 > 0:03:22Now, Chloe, you hold on to this.
0:03:22 > 0:03:26Jamie, hold on to the line. This line here, that's right.
0:03:26 > 0:03:30We'll let the line out carefully. Unwind the line for us. That's it.
0:03:30 > 0:03:33- Whoa!- Unwind it from the end, like that. That's it.
0:03:35 > 0:03:36THEY SQUEAL
0:03:36 > 0:03:39- Bit higher!- Higher?
0:03:39 > 0:03:43Do heavy kites fly lower than light kites?
0:03:43 > 0:03:46Heavy kites need more wind than light kites.
0:03:46 > 0:03:50So, yes, they do fly lower if there's not as much wind.
0:03:50 > 0:03:52THEY LAUGH
0:03:52 > 0:03:54- Let a bit more line out.- Whoo!
0:03:54 > 0:03:57It's, like, all the way in the sky!
0:03:57 > 0:03:59- Is it a long way?- Yeah!
0:04:04 > 0:04:06You can be part of the Let's Go Club, too.
