0:00:02 > 0:00:06This is The Let's Go Club, but mini - expect making, exploring,
0:00:06 > 0:00:11supersizing, dancing, fact-finding and laughing,
0:00:11 > 0:00:16so get ready for more fun from The Let's Go Club.
0:00:19 > 0:00:26Today we're finding out all about weather - bright, light sunshine,
0:00:26 > 0:00:29whirling, swirling wind,
0:00:29 > 0:00:31pouring, roaring rain,
0:00:31 > 0:00:35frosty, sparkly snowflakes.
0:00:35 > 0:00:38Whatever the weather, let's get to those facts.
0:00:38 > 0:00:44First up, you can see rainbows in the middle of the night. That's right.
0:00:44 > 0:00:48You might have thought you could only see rainbows during the day
0:00:48 > 0:00:53when the sun is shining, but they can appear at any time.
0:00:54 > 0:00:59The ones that come out to play after dark are called moonbows.
0:00:59 > 0:01:02They are made by the light that bounces off the moon through
0:01:02 > 0:01:06rain or soggy clouds and a moonbow, like a rainbow,
0:01:06 > 0:01:12is almost impossible to follow all the way to the end.
0:01:12 > 0:01:17Next, if we didn't have the sun, there wouldn't be any weather.
0:01:17 > 0:01:22You might think it odd, but without its lovely, warm sunshine,
0:01:22 > 0:01:26there'd be no wind, no rain, no clouds.
0:01:27 > 0:01:34Basically, no atmosphere. But there would be lots and lots of ice.
0:01:34 > 0:01:39The temperature on Earth would drop well below freezing and the planet
0:01:39 > 0:01:46would turn into one giant icicle, not cool, but very chilly.
0:01:46 > 0:01:52Next, wind is completely invisible. You can't see wind,
0:01:52 > 0:01:57it's air rushing from one place to another, but you can definitely
0:01:57 > 0:02:02hear it and see what it does to the things all around you.
0:02:02 > 0:02:05The strongest winds, hurricanes,
0:02:05 > 0:02:10are given names a bit like you or me, from Barry to Lisa,
0:02:10 > 0:02:17Peter to Rebecca, but there hasn't been one called Craig yet.
0:02:17 > 0:02:21And finally, snow can be pink.
0:02:21 > 0:02:23It's all because of a tiny plant
0:02:23 > 0:02:26that likes to live on freezing mountain slopes.
0:02:26 > 0:02:29In winter, when snow falls on the ground,
0:02:29 > 0:02:32it covers over these plants,
0:02:32 > 0:02:35then, when spring begins to warm things up,
0:02:35 > 0:02:40the snow starts to melt and the tiny plants bloom,
0:02:40 > 0:02:43and this makes pink patches appear in the snow.
0:02:43 > 0:02:48Something else happens, too - the plants make the snow smell sweet,
0:02:48 > 0:02:53so this colourful wonder is known as watermelon snow.
0:02:53 > 0:02:54Fact.
0:02:56 > 0:02:59You can be part of The Let's Go Club, too.
