0:00:30 > 0:00:32Veggies and puddings and pizza slices.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35Things you can cook in all shapes and sizes.

0:00:35 > 0:00:38Stinky cheese that smells like feet.

0:00:38 > 0:00:41So many foods we all like to eat.

0:00:41 > 0:00:44Let's get to those facts.

0:00:44 > 0:00:47First up, chocolate was once used as money.

0:00:47 > 0:00:50Delicious and very handy.

0:00:50 > 0:00:53OK, well, maybe not the bar of chocolaty treat

0:00:53 > 0:00:55that you and I know.

0:00:55 > 0:00:59A long time ago, cacao beans, that chocolate is made from,

0:00:59 > 0:01:03were liked so much that they were used to buy things.

0:01:03 > 0:01:07One of these brown beans could get you a cooked doughy treat

0:01:07 > 0:01:11and 100 of them might have bought you a whole turkey!

0:01:11 > 0:01:13Now, what would you choose?

0:01:13 > 0:01:17Turkey or cocoa? Hmm!

0:01:17 > 0:01:21Next, bananas grow upside down.

0:01:21 > 0:01:23The wrong way round.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26They grow from the flowers on a plant.

0:01:26 > 0:01:30Each bunch that pops out from a flower is called a hand

0:01:30 > 0:01:34and the single bananas are known as fingers.

0:01:34 > 0:01:39The flowers are so heavy that they bend over the stalks of the plant,

0:01:39 > 0:01:42but bananas love the heat and light of the sun

0:01:42 > 0:01:45so, as the hands of the fruit grow,

0:01:45 > 0:01:49they turn their little fingers around to reach up to the sky

0:01:49 > 0:01:52and when the bananas get bigger and bendier,

0:01:52 > 0:01:55it makes them look like they're upside down.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Straight up. Sort of.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Next, mushrooms can grow in the dark.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Let's shed some light on this.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07There are certain kinds of mushrooms that give off a pale green light

0:02:07 > 0:02:09in the forest at night.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12They do this to get the attention of insects

0:02:12 > 0:02:15who come to investigate the strange glow.

0:02:15 > 0:02:18Once the insects have seen the light, they scuttle off again

0:02:18 > 0:02:22carrying seeds from the mushroom to other parts of the forest

0:02:22 > 0:02:26and this helps the mushrooms to survive and keep on growing.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29If you want to grow, then it helps to glow.

0:02:29 > 0:02:33And finally, the outside of a jellybean is made from insect goo.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36Disgusting but true!

0:02:36 > 0:02:40A tiny red insect called a lac bug makes a sticky liquid called

0:02:40 > 0:02:43shellac that clings to the bark of trees.

0:02:43 > 0:02:46When the shellac has dried out, it turns hard and shiny

0:02:46 > 0:02:48and can be collected up.

0:02:48 > 0:02:53Then it's ready to use as a coat for sweet treats like jellybeans.

0:02:53 > 0:02:56That's what makes the outside so smooth.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59From goo to inside you. Fact!

0:02:59 > 0:03:03You can be part of the Let's Go Club too.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06Grab a grown-up and head to the CBeebies website.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09Remember, we're the club that never closes!
