0:01:39 > 0:01:41Let's go!

0:01:41 > 0:01:43- Hi, I'm Jamie.- And I'm Adam.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Today, we're going to go looking for fossils.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48BOTH: Let's go!

0:01:48 > 0:01:52- This is Will.- He knows everything about rocks and fossils

0:01:52 > 0:01:56so he's going to show us how to be fossil hunters.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00Hi, Jamie, hi, Adam. I've got a really special rock.

0:02:00 > 0:02:04- There's something here. Can you see it?- Is it a footprint?

0:02:04 > 0:02:07It's a footprint? Can you see these footprints here?

0:02:07 > 0:02:11One, two, three toes. They're dinosaur footprints.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Where do you think it came from?

0:02:13 > 0:02:16The dinosaurs leave the footprints on the beach

0:02:16 > 0:02:21and then they stay there for a long time and turn into this rock.

0:02:21 > 0:02:25That's right, after the dinosaur made it in the soft sand,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27it turned into rock, really deep,

0:02:27 > 0:02:30and ended up in the top of the cliffs in the yellow rocks

0:02:30 > 0:02:34at the top, dropped onto the beach, and we find them as fossils.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38It's 165 million years old.

0:02:38 > 0:02:41We're going to look at fossils from the bottom of the cliff

0:02:41 > 0:02:43that are even older.

0:02:48 > 0:02:52- Can we look for fossils now? - That's a really good idea.

0:02:52 > 0:02:55I've got special kit for you guys. A bucket each.

0:02:55 > 0:02:58One for you, Adam. One for you as well, Jamie.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00And I've also got a really nice checklist

0:03:00 > 0:03:03with some pictures of the fossils we might find.

0:03:03 > 0:03:07These are the fossils of seashells that used to live in the ocean

0:03:07 > 0:03:10that once covered all of where we are today.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13- Which rocks have fossils in? - Great question.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16We need to find some of the grey rocks on this page.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18They might have the fossils in them.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21Sometimes outside, but quite often inside.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24If you find any grey rocks with lumps or bumps, funny shapes,

0:03:24 > 0:03:28put them in your bucket and we'll have a look at them.

0:03:33 > 0:03:36- Oh, what have you got, Jamie? - I found this fossil.

0:03:36 > 0:03:39See the heart shape here? This is one we call a bivalve.

0:03:39 > 0:03:42Can you find bivalve on your checklist, guys?

0:03:47 > 0:03:49Look at this one. This is really nice.

0:03:49 > 0:03:52This is a coiled-up one we call an ammonite.

0:03:52 > 0:03:54You see this one on your tick list?

0:03:54 > 0:03:58When it was alive, a squid lived at this bottom end of the shell,

0:03:58 > 0:04:00swimming around in our ocean.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04Sometimes, some fossils are still hidden inside the rock.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06So can we smash one of them open?

0:04:06 > 0:04:09We could split a rock open, see if there's anything inside?

0:04:09 > 0:04:12- Yeah.- 'Splitting rocks can be dangerous

0:04:12 > 0:04:14'and should only be done by a grown-up.'

0:04:19 > 0:04:21So you see some of the shell here, yeah?

0:04:21 > 0:04:24- Yeah.- This is the coiled ammonite.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27You can see the coil quite nice on that one, the spiral.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29'We're making notes about what we find.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32'I'm drawing a picture of my fossil.'

0:04:36 > 0:04:38These fossils are belemnites.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43This rock is a bit big to carry off the beach so what can we do?

0:04:43 > 0:04:44Take a picture of it.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47Great idea. Here you go - over to you.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51'Some fossils are in the ground

0:04:51 > 0:04:55'but we can still remember them by taking a photo.

0:04:55 > 0:04:58'And I'm making a rubbing of this fossil.'

0:04:58 > 0:05:01It's time for the best thing about fossil hunting -

0:05:01 > 0:05:05- hot chocolate time! What do you say?- BOTH: Yeah!

0:05:08 > 0:05:11# The Let's Go Club. #

0:05:11 > 0:05:13Now, it's time to really big up the fun.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16Is the Super-size Showdown!

0:05:16 > 0:05:17CHEERING

0:05:18 > 0:05:21And today's showdown is a dino special.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24It's going to be ROARsome.

0:05:24 > 0:05:28Oh, yes, and our Let's Go-ers getting their teeth into our game

0:05:28 > 0:05:32are fearless. They are Georgia, Imam, Connor and Sophie.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35Give me your best dinosaur faces.

0:05:35 > 0:05:36THEY ROAR

0:05:37 > 0:05:41And on the red team, we have Ethan, Precious, William and Maisie.

0:05:41 > 0:05:42Show us your dino faces.

0:05:42 > 0:05:43THEY ROAR

0:05:45 > 0:05:48The aim is to collect the last four puzzle pieces

0:05:48 > 0:05:52along the course to complete your giant dinosaur picture.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54They can be hidden anywhere on the course,

0:05:54 > 0:05:57and watch out for those dinosaur bones.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59Let's see what you've got to tackle.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02First, slide down Lizzie's Slippery Slide.

0:06:02 > 0:06:06Then search for a puzzle piece inside the giant inflatable maze.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08Next, onto Martin's Messy Muddle.

0:06:08 > 0:06:12And this is definitely my favourite part of the showdown.

0:06:12 > 0:06:14What each team has to do is get through

0:06:14 > 0:06:16these slimy tunnels of gunge,

0:06:16 > 0:06:19but they must not forget the missing puzzle pieces

0:06:19 > 0:06:22on the way through. Once they've done that,

0:06:22 > 0:06:25it is onto Abe's Big Ball Pool Bonanza.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28So dive in and look for the third puzzle piece,

0:06:28 > 0:06:31which will be hidden underneath all of these.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34Once you've got that - Joanna's Jump And Grab.

0:06:34 > 0:06:38You need to reach up and pull the ropes to get the puzzle piece.

0:06:38 > 0:06:41But beware - these buckets are full of slime and confetti.

0:06:41 > 0:06:45The two teams need to work together to complete the jigsaw puzzle.

0:06:45 > 0:06:49The team that does this first are the winners.

0:06:49 > 0:06:52Time to play in a big, big way.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54Are you lot ready?

0:06:54 > 0:06:55CHEERING

0:06:55 > 0:07:00OK. Three, two, one, let's go!

0:07:00 > 0:07:03First down Lizzie's Slippery Slide are the Blues.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06And under, and under. Under you go.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09Find your piece. Come on.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13It's even stevens into Martin's Messy Muddle.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21But the Blues tunnel into the lead.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25But Reds have clawed it back.

0:07:25 > 0:07:29And they leap together into Abe's Big Ball Pool.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35Blues are in front again.

0:07:37 > 0:07:41And that's a giant gunging!

0:07:41 > 0:07:45That's it. But where's the puzzle piece?

0:07:45 > 0:07:46Get your puzzle.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48There's nothing between the teams

0:07:48 > 0:07:51as they race to finish the final jigsaw.

0:07:51 > 0:07:52Who's going to win?

0:07:52 > 0:07:55But the pieces aren't easy to place.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00And the blue team have done it.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02Stop it. We've done it.

0:08:02 > 0:08:04Congratulations!

0:08:04 > 0:08:07The blue team are the winners.

0:08:07 > 0:08:11- Show us your dinosaur faces. - CHEERING

0:09:44 > 0:09:47Good. I'll go with the first question.

0:09:47 > 0:09:49What is the fastest dinosaur?

0:09:49 > 0:09:52- Stegosaurus.- T-rex.

0:09:52 > 0:09:56No. It is actually a PRONTOsaurus.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59THE CHUCKLE Has anyone else got any questions?

0:09:59 > 0:10:02What do you call a sleeping dinosaur?

0:10:02 > 0:10:06No idea. What do you call a sleeping dinosaur?

0:10:06 > 0:10:07A dinoSNORE.

0:10:07 > 0:10:09LAUGHTER

0:10:09 > 0:10:11A dinoSNORE.

0:10:11 > 0:10:12I like that one. That was good.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15- Any more? - Why did the T-rex wear a plaster?

0:10:15 > 0:10:19No idea. Why did the T-rex wear a plaster?

0:10:19 > 0:10:21Because he had a dinoSORE.

0:10:21 > 0:10:22LAUGHTER

0:10:22 > 0:10:24A dinoSORE.

0:10:24 > 0:10:28Fantastic. That quiz was tricera-tops

0:10:28 > 0:10:32and there's an utterly T-rex-ific clip on the CBeebies website.

0:10:32 > 0:10:37Just click on the Let's Go Club. OK, here are some dino facts.

0:10:38 > 0:10:43Fact fans, today, we're finding out all about dinosaurs.

0:10:43 > 0:10:47Super-sharp claws, gigantic jaws,

0:10:47 > 0:10:49scales and spikes

0:10:49 > 0:10:51and teeth that bite.

0:10:51 > 0:10:54Flying, soaring, plodding, roaring.

0:10:54 > 0:10:59Feathers and horns, some small, some long.

0:10:59 > 0:11:02The fiercest creatures, now gone forever.

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Let's get to those facts.

0:11:05 > 0:11:09First up, nobody knows exactly what colour dinosaurs were.

0:11:09 > 0:11:11I di-know!

0:11:11 > 0:11:15Dinosaur remains have been found in rocks called fossils.

0:11:15 > 0:11:19But their colour didn't keep after being buried in rocks

0:11:19 > 0:11:20for millions of years.

0:11:20 > 0:11:24People weren't alive at the same time as dinosaurs,

0:11:24 > 0:11:28so no-one could take a dino photo to remember their colours.

0:11:28 > 0:11:31Maybe there was a stripe-eratops or a spotty-o-saurus!

0:11:33 > 0:11:38Next, some dinosaurs had skulls that were as long as a car.

0:11:38 > 0:11:40What a honking fact!

0:11:40 > 0:11:43But even though they were such huge creatures,

0:11:43 > 0:11:46most dinosaurs had tiny brains.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Like the Stegosaurus,

0:11:48 > 0:11:53who was the size of a bus but had a brain no bigger than a lemon.

0:11:53 > 0:11:57Definitely not a brainy-o-saurus!

0:11:57 > 0:12:01Next, the word dinosaur means "terrible lizard".

0:12:01 > 0:12:03That sounds like a tall tale.

0:12:03 > 0:12:06Dinosaurs didn't look much like lizards.

0:12:06 > 0:12:09In fact, scientists now think that velociraptors

0:12:09 > 0:12:13were covered in feathers and about as big as a turkey.

0:12:13 > 0:12:15- Gobble, gobble!- But watch out -

0:12:15 > 0:12:18those little legs could travel as fast as a car.

0:12:18 > 0:12:22Maybe that's why velociraptor means "speedy robber".

0:12:25 > 0:12:30And finally, dinosaurs were one of the first creatures to use toilets.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32Let's flush out the truth.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34Millions of years ago,

0:12:34 > 0:12:37dinosaurs shared the spot where they did their business.

0:12:37 > 0:12:41They pooped in the same place to mark out their land

0:12:41 > 0:12:43and keep other dinosaurs away.

0:12:43 > 0:12:47Researchers now this because they found lots and lots of dino dung

0:12:47 > 0:12:51clung together in fossils in South America.

0:12:51 > 0:12:56The collection of poop was so large that it was deposited in a museum.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58A POO-seum!

0:12:58 > 0:13:00Fact.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05# The Let's Go Club Let's go! #

0:13:05 > 0:13:07It's Excellent Experiment time

0:13:07 > 0:13:12and I'm going to be making a fizzy lava lamp.

0:13:12 > 0:13:14All you need is a clear plastic jar...

0:13:17 > 0:13:21..which you are then going to fill half full of cooking oil.

0:13:28 > 0:13:33Next, add some water, while leaving some space at the top.

0:13:34 > 0:13:37Next, pop in some food colouring.

0:13:40 > 0:13:42Remember, food colouring can stain

0:13:42 > 0:13:45so you may want to wear an apron, like me!

0:13:45 > 0:13:51Next, for the fizz, add one teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda...

0:13:53 > 0:13:56..and watch your fizzy lava lamp.

0:13:56 > 0:13:58You can use any colour you like

0:13:58 > 0:14:03and if you shine a torch behind your lava lamp, watch it glow.

0:14:05 > 0:14:10It looks great! Hopefully, that's inspired some of you to have a go.

0:14:10 > 0:14:12Head to the website for more info

0:14:12 > 0:14:15and send us a snap of you and your fizzy lava lamp.

0:14:42 > 0:14:44which she helped to bake.

0:14:44 > 0:14:47Bella loved baking chicken and tomato smiles

0:14:47 > 0:14:49for her family for dinner.

0:14:49 > 0:14:53And Nene has made her favourite Nigerian meat pies,

0:14:53 > 0:14:56kneading, rolling and cutting the dough.

0:14:56 > 0:14:58Dee-lish!
