0:01:39 > 0:01:41Let's go!

0:01:41 > 0:01:42Hi, I'm Tom.

0:01:42 > 0:01:46And I'm Nell. Today, we're going to be radio reporters.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48BOTH: Let's go!

0:01:48 > 0:01:52A radio reporter is a person who puts stories together that

0:01:52 > 0:01:54are played on the radio.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58This is Kayleigh and she makes CBeebies Radio.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01Hello. Hi, Kayleigh. Where do we start?

0:02:01 > 0:02:06So, first things first, I'm going to show you how to use the equipment

0:02:06 > 0:02:08that we're going to use today, OK?

0:02:08 > 0:02:12So, have you ever seen one of these before? What's one of these?

0:02:12 > 0:02:14BOTH: A microphone. It IS a microphone.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17There are lots of cables to plug in.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20We tried on the headphones.

0:02:20 > 0:02:23How do they feel? Great. Yeah? Fantastic.

0:02:23 > 0:02:25Kayleigh gave us two top tips.

0:02:25 > 0:02:29Not to hold the microphone too close to our mouths.

0:02:29 > 0:02:30Hold the microphone here.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34Take your hand away and then you know where you need to hold it.

0:02:34 > 0:02:36Hello, now. Can you hear me?

0:02:36 > 0:02:38So, shall we go and make our radio story?

0:02:38 > 0:02:41BOTH: Yes! Come on then.

0:02:41 > 0:02:44We're going on a sound walk.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48We'll be collecting all the sounds you might find in the city.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51Put your hand to your ear like this.

0:02:51 > 0:02:53TRAM HORN SOUNDS

0:02:53 > 0:02:57I just heard a hooter off a train.

0:02:57 > 0:03:00A hoot of a train?

0:03:00 > 0:03:05We hold the microphone high up...

0:03:06 > 0:03:09..and low down.

0:03:10 > 0:03:12Can you press that one?

0:03:12 > 0:03:15Brilliant.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18We heard buses. Cyclists.

0:03:18 > 0:03:19And cars.

0:03:19 > 0:03:21TRAM HORN SOUNDS

0:03:21 > 0:03:25We went into a shop to record the sounds in there.

0:03:25 > 0:03:31We bought some bananas and listened to the checkout machine.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34CHECKOUT: Please insert cash or select payment method.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38I can hear a person talking.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41Listen out for those coins.

0:03:44 > 0:03:46We're going to eat our lunch now.

0:03:46 > 0:03:50That will make lots of different noises, too.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57Fancy that.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00We've collected all the sounds we need for our radio report.

0:04:00 > 0:04:03Now it's time to put it all together.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06But first I want to show you something really cool.

0:04:06 > 0:04:10Just keep your eyes on the desk. Watch this. Ready?

0:04:10 > 0:04:12Wow!

0:04:12 > 0:04:16Check that out. It's like they're having a party.

0:04:16 > 0:04:20We had to go into another room to record our voices.

0:04:20 > 0:04:24And we have to pretend that someone is at the back of the room

0:04:24 > 0:04:27so that they can hear us clearly.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29So shall we give that a go?

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Hi, I'm Tom.

0:04:31 > 0:04:32Hi, I'm Nell.

0:04:32 > 0:04:37We've recorded our voices so our CBeebies report is ready.

0:04:37 > 0:04:41Here's a little bit of the report now.

0:04:41 > 0:04:47BOTH: 'Today, we are Cbeebies radio reporters!'

0:04:47 > 0:04:52'Manchester is a really big city. There's so much to see.'

0:04:52 > 0:04:56'We're not here to SEE anything, are we, Tom?

0:04:56 > 0:04:59'Nope. We're here to listen.'

0:04:59 > 0:05:01BOTH: 'Let's go!'

0:05:01 > 0:05:04Kayleigh, do you think we're good radio reporters?

0:05:04 > 0:05:08Tom, I thought you were absolutely fantastic, the pair of you.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10Did you enjoy yourselves? BOTH: Yeah!

0:05:10 > 0:05:12I'm glad to hear it.

0:05:14 > 0:05:17Great work, Nell and Thomas. You sounded awesome.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20You can listen to their report on Cbeebies Radio.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23From behind the microphone to in front of the camera -

0:05:23 > 0:05:29let's take a look at the amazing Send-Ins you've sent us this week.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Lots of you were inspired by our summer seaside special,

0:05:32 > 0:05:36like Hannah, who's been writing messages in the sand

0:05:36 > 0:05:37on Llandudno beach.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41Katie has been crabbing on her holiday to Cornwall.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43She's going to need a bigger bucket.

0:05:43 > 0:05:47Oliver made this brilliant turtle from sand and shells

0:05:47 > 0:05:48on Bournemouth beach.

0:05:48 > 0:05:52Eva loved Joanna's Quick Trick so much that she's made her own

0:05:52 > 0:05:57rainbow-coloured sand castle and so has Eden in his garden sand pit.

0:05:57 > 0:06:00And Alexander, too. Sand-tastic!

0:06:00 > 0:06:05Niamh has been getting her bake on, making a super tasty Zebra cake.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07Mmm, delish!

0:06:07 > 0:06:09Flynn is going for the healthy option

0:06:09 > 0:06:12with this cucumber and tomato kebab.

0:06:12 > 0:06:16Shikayla's been busy in the kitchen, too, making crispy snacks.

0:06:16 > 0:06:18I want one!

0:06:18 > 0:06:21If you've been inspired by anything in the clubhouse,

0:06:21 > 0:06:24or if you've made something you want to show off,

0:06:24 > 0:06:26remember to send it in. Grab a grown-up,

0:06:26 > 0:06:29go to the website and look for the Let's Go Club.

0:06:29 > 0:06:33Someone who loves taking photographs is photographer Lily -

0:06:33 > 0:06:35she's with Martin right now.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40Thanks, guys. Lily helps people take photos

0:06:40 > 0:06:43and she joins us in the clubhouse today

0:06:43 > 0:06:46to give us some top photography tips. Hello, Lily.

0:06:46 > 0:06:48Hello, everyone. Thanks for joining us.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52Today we also have Jessica, Ruby, Ewan, Owen and Alfie

0:06:52 > 0:06:56and they're going to be helping us out. Shall we get started?

0:06:56 > 0:07:00Today, we're going to be working with perspective photography.

0:07:00 > 0:07:03This is when we want something small to look really big,

0:07:03 > 0:07:06or something big to look really small.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08Wow! So should we give it a go? Great.

0:07:08 > 0:07:13Ewan, can you come and stand and pretend to be eaten?

0:07:13 > 0:07:16Well done, Ruby. Let's get that dinosaur set up.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19We're going to make the dinosaur look big

0:07:19 > 0:07:21and we're going to make Ewan look really small.

0:07:21 > 0:07:26Ruby, tell me, what's happening now? The dinosaur is eating Ewan.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29Well done! Ewan, are you scared? Yeah.

0:07:29 > 0:07:31Jessica, does the dinosaur look big? Yes.

0:07:31 > 0:07:34What does Ewan look like? Small.

0:07:34 > 0:07:35Let's take the picture.

0:07:35 > 0:07:39Because the dinosaur is closer to the camera, we're tricking it.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43We're making Ewan very small. Well done. Ewan, fantastic stuff.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46Great pose. It was good. BOTH: Can we have another one.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48You want another one? Yeah.

0:07:48 > 0:07:51Great, let's do another one. OK, then, good.

0:07:51 > 0:07:55Shall I go in this spot here? Yes. Good.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57Owen, are you feeling up to holding Martin up?

0:07:57 > 0:08:01Can do it? There's no way these boys can hold me up.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04I'm too big and heavy for that. Just drop it lower. That's great.

0:08:04 > 0:08:08Martin is so far away in the frame, he looks small, doesn't he?

0:08:08 > 0:08:12Owen is close to the camera, so he looks big. Great.

0:08:12 > 0:08:16We need you to raise your hand a little bit and then move your

0:08:16 > 0:08:18hand that way a little bit. What do you think now?

0:08:18 > 0:08:22Do you think it looks like Owen's carrying him? Yeah.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25Martin, we're ready. One, two, and go!

0:08:25 > 0:08:28Great. Now we're going to really have some fun.

0:08:28 > 0:08:30Let's take a silly picture!

0:08:30 > 0:08:33Yes, that's the best ones.

0:08:33 > 0:08:35Oh, looking good. Look at that.

0:08:35 > 0:08:39Now we've all got to be as silly as possible.

0:08:39 > 0:08:42So think about silly hats, silly faces.

0:08:42 > 0:08:46If you guys want some photography top tips,

0:08:46 > 0:08:48just go to the CBeebies website

0:08:48 > 0:08:51and we also want you to send us in your pics.

0:08:51 > 0:08:55# The Let's Go Club. #

0:08:55 > 0:08:56Let's go!

0:08:56 > 0:09:00Welcome to the Let's Go Club weather report with me, Joanna.

0:09:00 > 0:09:05Today, you've been making waves in the weather world with your funny...

0:09:05 > 0:09:06Sorry, sunny, funny!

0:09:06 > 0:09:08Funny spells.

0:09:08 > 0:09:12I don't want to steal your thunder, so let's take a look at them.

0:09:12 > 0:09:16George from Hebden Bridge has been creating

0:09:16 > 0:09:19a storm in the puddles in his back garden.

0:09:19 > 0:09:24Matilda, aged three, you RAIN supreme with this brilliant video.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27Finally, Jessica and Alice, from Staffordshire,

0:09:27 > 0:09:30you've outshone us all with your sunny faces.

0:09:30 > 0:09:34Thank you for sending in your fantastic photos and videos.

0:09:34 > 0:09:38You have brightened up the clubhouse and blown away the cobwebs.

0:09:38 > 0:09:42Now it's time for some more fantastic facts about the weather.

0:09:42 > 0:09:47Fact fans, today we're finding out all about weather.

0:09:48 > 0:09:50Bright, light sunshine.

0:09:50 > 0:09:53Whirling, swirling wind.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56Pouring, roaring rain.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Frosty, sparkly snowflakes.

0:09:59 > 0:10:03Whatever the weather, let's get to those facts.

0:10:03 > 0:10:07First up, you can see rainbows in the middle of the night.

0:10:07 > 0:10:09That's right!

0:10:09 > 0:10:14You might have thought you could only see rainbows during the day,

0:10:14 > 0:10:19when the sun is shining, but they can appear at any time.

0:10:19 > 0:10:23The ones that come out to play after dark are called moonbows.

0:10:23 > 0:10:27They are made by the light that bounces off the moon

0:10:27 > 0:10:29through rain or soggy clouds.

0:10:29 > 0:10:33And a moonbow, like a rainbow,

0:10:33 > 0:10:37is almost impossible to follow all the way to the end.

0:10:37 > 0:10:42Next, if we didn't have the sun, there wouldn't be any weather.

0:10:42 > 0:10:46You might think it odd, but without it's lovely warm sunshine,

0:10:46 > 0:10:51there'd be no wind, no rain, no clouds.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53Basically, no atmosphere.

0:10:54 > 0:10:59But there would be lots and lots of ice.

0:10:59 > 0:11:03The temperature on earth would drop well below freezing.

0:11:03 > 0:11:07The planet would turn into one giant icicle.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10Not cool but very chilly!

0:11:12 > 0:11:15Next, wind is completely invisible.

0:11:15 > 0:11:17You can't see wind -

0:11:17 > 0:11:21it's a air rushing from one place to another -

0:11:21 > 0:11:22but you can definitely hear it

0:11:22 > 0:11:26and see what it does to the things all around you.

0:11:26 > 0:11:30The strongest winds, hurricanes, are given names -

0:11:30 > 0:11:33a bit like you or and me -

0:11:33 > 0:11:37from Barry to Lisa, Peter to Rebecca.

0:11:37 > 0:11:41But there hasn't been one called Craig, yet!

0:11:43 > 0:11:46And, finally, snow can be pink.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49It's all because of a tiny plant that likes to live

0:11:49 > 0:11:51on freezing mountain slopes.

0:11:51 > 0:11:56In winter, when snow falls on the ground, it covers over these plants.

0:11:56 > 0:12:00Then when spring begins to warm things up,

0:12:00 > 0:12:04the snow starts to melt and the tiny plants bloom.

0:12:04 > 0:12:08This makes pink patches appear in the snow.

0:12:08 > 0:12:10Something else happens, too.

0:12:10 > 0:12:13The plants make the snow smell sweet.

0:12:13 > 0:12:17This colourful wonder is known as watermelon snow.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19Fact!

0:12:20 > 0:12:22# The Let's Go Club. #

0:12:22 > 0:12:24Let's go!

0:12:24 > 0:12:27I've come outside for today's excellent experiment

0:12:27 > 0:12:30and it's called squirty chalk. Let's get started.

0:12:30 > 0:12:34First, you need one bottle with a squirty top

0:12:34 > 0:12:37and put some bicarbonate of soda in.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42Then we add some cornflour.

0:12:47 > 0:12:49Now, fill it up with water.

0:12:49 > 0:12:51We add a little bit of food colouring.

0:12:51 > 0:12:54Grab a grown-up to help you with this part.

0:12:54 > 0:12:58It's fun to use different colours and today I used yellow.

0:12:58 > 0:13:00Then, give it a shake.

0:13:00 > 0:13:03Now, because this is an excellent experiment,

0:13:03 > 0:13:05we want to get one step further.

0:13:05 > 0:13:09Take a second squirty bottle, with a squirty lid,

0:13:09 > 0:13:12and fill it with vinegar.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16Make sure you get a grown-up to help you.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19Now we add some different food colouring to this one.

0:13:19 > 0:13:20I'm going to use blue.

0:13:20 > 0:13:25That's our squirty chalk. Let's make a picture with them.

0:13:33 > 0:13:36Watch what happens when I add the vinegar.

0:13:36 > 0:13:39When the vinegar mixes with the bicarbonate of soda,

0:13:39 > 0:13:43it makes it go all bubbly. It all fizzes up!

0:13:43 > 0:13:46That fizz really is the biz and if you want to try out this

0:13:46 > 0:13:48excellent experiment at home,

0:13:48 > 0:13:51then there's a clip all about it on the website.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55If you enjoyed Lily's tips for taking good photographs,

0:13:55 > 0:13:58then you're definitely going to enjoy these ideas on how

0:13:58 > 0:14:02to save your precious memories. Check this out.

0:14:02 > 0:14:03# The Let's Go Club. #

0:14:03 > 0:14:05Let's go!

0:14:05 > 0:14:08Hi, I'm Annabel. And my name's Ruth.

0:14:08 > 0:14:13We all love going on adventures and collecting things on the way.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16We're going to make a memory box...

0:14:16 > 0:14:18To store all our souvenirs in.

0:14:18 > 0:14:22If you like going on adventures, here's something you can do.

0:14:22 > 0:14:26First, we are going to decorate our memory box. Let's get making!

0:14:28 > 0:14:31'We're going to paint the lid first.'

0:14:31 > 0:14:34'I'm painting it blue, like the sky.'

0:14:34 > 0:14:37I'm sticking this plane on the memory box because it reminds

0:14:37 > 0:14:39me of my holiday in Crete.

0:14:39 > 0:14:43'I'm putting this train on because I went on a journey on the train.'

0:14:43 > 0:14:47'Our memory box has cars, trains and planes on it.'

0:14:47 > 0:14:50We found these pebbles by the river

0:14:50 > 0:14:53and we're going to put them on the memory box, too.

0:14:53 > 0:14:56I found these feathers in the forest.

0:14:56 > 0:15:00We're going for a picnic while the memory box dries.

0:15:00 > 0:15:03We will be able to put all the things in here

0:15:03 > 0:15:06from the adventures we go on.
