0:01:30 > 0:01:32# Let's go! #

0:01:35 > 0:01:39- Hi, I'm Faria.- And I'm Magnus.

0:01:39 > 0:01:44- Today, we are going to be helping an alpaca farm.- Let's go!

0:01:49 > 0:01:52This is Bob and he looks after alpacas.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56- Hi, Bob!- Hi, Bob! - Hello, Let's Goers!

0:01:56 > 0:01:58This is Eureka and this is Calvin.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01They're different types, can you spot the difference?

0:02:01 > 0:02:06- The fur's different.- Yes, the fur's called fleece. Have a closer look.

0:02:06 > 0:02:11Eureka's fur is short and Calvin's fur is long.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Eureka is a Huacaya alpaca,

0:02:13 > 0:02:17and his fur grows out the way and becomes bushy.

0:02:17 > 0:02:20Calvin is a Suri and his hair grows long.

0:02:20 > 0:02:25Calvin is a Suri and Eureka is a Huacaya.

0:02:25 > 0:02:27- Huacaya!- Suri!

0:02:27 > 0:02:30- Huacaya!- Suri!- Huacaya!- Suri!

0:02:30 > 0:02:34So, when the fleece is sheared off the animal, it's called fibre

0:02:34 > 0:02:36and it looks like that.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40And then it's spun into yarn,

0:02:40 > 0:02:41and it looks like that.

0:02:41 > 0:02:48And then, it's knitted into garments like these gloves or this scarf.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51- Or this?- Now, it's time to clear out the alpaca shelter.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54- Will you two give me a hand? BOTH:- Let's go!

0:02:59 > 0:03:05We are picking up the poo so the alpacas don't get poorly.

0:03:08 > 0:03:11Now, it's time to fill up the hay.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13Well done.

0:03:14 > 0:03:18Is it time to feed the alpacas?

0:03:18 > 0:03:21- It certainly is, are you ready?- Yes.

0:03:21 > 0:03:26We're feeding the alpacas hay and grass pellet.

0:03:26 > 0:03:30They also like eating grass outside.

0:03:30 > 0:03:34Alpacas are from South America.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37These ones live here in Scotland.

0:03:37 > 0:03:41So they're a long way from home.

0:03:41 > 0:03:44Come on, alpacas. Eat up!

0:03:44 > 0:03:47Now, we have another job to do.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50That looks like a big toothpaste tube.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53It does, but it's filled with vitamins and minerals

0:03:53 > 0:03:56and I need your help to give it to the alpacas.

0:03:56 > 0:04:02Alpacas need extra vitamins and minerals,

0:04:02 > 0:04:08because they can't get everything they need from their food here.

0:04:08 > 0:04:12I've got another alpaca, Archie, who has a bit of a sore foot.

0:04:12 > 0:04:14I think he needs some cream on it.

0:04:18 > 0:04:20Well done, Magnus.

0:04:22 > 0:04:27Now we're going to learn how to catch a head collar on a rope.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30So we can take them out for a walk.

0:04:30 > 0:04:32So we'll put it on.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36All right. Now, if you come round here,

0:04:36 > 0:04:38we pull, put that through.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43And as tight as you can. Pull it tight, that's it. Well done.

0:04:43 > 0:04:48It's very important to do this properly

0:04:48 > 0:04:53because alpacas can only breathe through their nose.

0:05:07 > 0:05:13We had a great time making friends with the alpacas, Bob, thank you.

0:05:13 > 0:05:17- You're welcome.- Now it's time to go for a little walk. Goodbye!

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Have a lovely walk, Faria and Magnus,

0:05:29 > 0:05:33and I love Apollo the alpaca's hairdo. What a looker!

0:05:33 > 0:05:34Now, it's Cool Move time.

0:05:34 > 0:05:38So spread your wings and shake your tail feathers.

0:05:38 > 0:05:42This move is called the Funky Chicken and it goes a little like this.

0:05:42 > 0:05:44Funky chicken, funky chicken,

0:05:44 > 0:05:48funky chicken! Let's do it!

0:05:48 > 0:05:52So we start by moving our feet side to side, like this.

0:05:52 > 0:05:53You got that?

0:05:53 > 0:05:58Next, we move our bodies up and then down.

0:05:58 > 0:05:59Up and down.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02And up, and down.

0:06:03 > 0:06:07Now, while we're doing that, we move our arms up and down as well.

0:06:07 > 0:06:12Up, and down. And up, and down.

0:06:12 > 0:06:15When you come up, you pull your hands up to your waist

0:06:15 > 0:06:17so they look like wings.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19Let's put it all together.

0:06:19 > 0:06:23Funky chicken, funky chicken, funky chicken!

0:06:23 > 0:06:25And that's your Cool Move done.

0:06:25 > 0:06:29If you'd like to see the Funky Chicken again, head to the website.

0:06:29 > 0:06:32You can try out this move when we do the club dance!

0:06:32 > 0:06:35Did you know that if you travel way back in time,

0:06:35 > 0:06:38chickens are related to dinosaurs?

0:06:38 > 0:06:41Imagine having one of those eggs for breakfast!

0:06:41 > 0:06:43It's time for some big dinosaur facts.

0:06:48 > 0:06:52First up, nobody knows exactly what colour dinosaurs were.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54I di-know! Haha!

0:06:54 > 0:06:58Dinosaur remains have been found in rocks called fossils.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00But their colour didn't keep

0:07:00 > 0:07:04after being buried in rocks for millions of years.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07People weren't alive at the same time as dinosaurs,

0:07:07 > 0:07:10so no-one can take a photo to remember their colours.

0:07:10 > 0:07:15Maybe there was a stripe-eratops, or a spotty-osaurus?

0:07:16 > 0:07:20Next, some dinosaurs had skulls that were as long as a car.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23What a honking fact!

0:07:23 > 0:07:26But even though they were such huge creatures,

0:07:26 > 0:07:29most dinosaurs had tiny brains.

0:07:29 > 0:07:32Like the stegosaurus, who was the size of a bus,

0:07:32 > 0:07:35but had a brain no bigger than a lemon.

0:07:35 > 0:07:40Definitely not a brainy-osaurus!

0:07:40 > 0:07:45And finally, dinosaurs were one of the first creatures to use toilets!

0:07:45 > 0:07:49Let's flush out the truth. Millions of years ago,

0:07:49 > 0:07:52dinosaurs shared the spot where they did their business.

0:07:52 > 0:07:55They pooped in the same place to mark out land

0:07:55 > 0:07:58and keep other dinosaurs away.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02Researchers know this because they found lots and lots of dino dung

0:08:02 > 0:08:06clung together in fossils in South America.

0:08:06 > 0:08:11The collection of poop was so large that it was deposited in a museum.

0:08:11 > 0:08:14A POOseum! Fact!

0:08:20 > 0:08:23We have got two very special guests with us,

0:08:23 > 0:08:27we've got my buddy from My Pet And Me, Ferne, and Let's Goer Kitty.

0:08:27 > 0:08:30Kitty has brought a brilliant pet in. Who's this?

0:08:30 > 0:08:33This is Lexi, the leopard gecko.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36Amazing, and what kind of food do you feed to Lexi?

0:08:36 > 0:08:41We feed her waxworms, mealworms, grubs and locusts.

0:08:41 > 0:08:44She's on the same diet as me! That sounds amazing.

0:08:44 > 0:08:48Can you tell us a little bit more about Lexi?

0:08:48 > 0:08:51Well, she stores food in her tail,

0:08:51 > 0:08:55- and that's why she's got a really fat tail.- She does, doesn't she?

0:08:55 > 0:08:59But it looks great. Ferne, anything else about Lexi we should know?

0:08:59 > 0:09:03- Yes, there's loads. Can I please hold her?- Yeah.- Here we go.

0:09:03 > 0:09:05She's beautiful.

0:09:05 > 0:09:09- Look at that tail!- You can see that she stores all her food here,

0:09:09 > 0:09:10it's nice and chubby.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13Leopard geckos are one of the only lizard species

0:09:13 > 0:09:16- that can blink their eyes, can't they?- Yeah.

0:09:16 > 0:09:19How do other lizard species clean their eyes?

0:09:19 > 0:09:22- They do something funny. - They just lick them.- Ugh! Do they?

0:09:22 > 0:09:26- I didn't know that. - Lexi doesn't need to do that.

0:09:26 > 0:09:28If you look on the side of her head,

0:09:28 > 0:09:32- she's got these little holes and those are her ears.- Oh, right!

0:09:32 > 0:09:34- They're like little secret ears. - Yeah.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36What I love about leopard geckos is that

0:09:36 > 0:09:40they always look like they're smiling. She is very happy.

0:09:40 > 0:09:43Kitty, can you tell us about your other animals?

0:09:43 > 0:09:46The other animals in the tank are called fire-bellied newts.

0:09:46 > 0:09:51- They always have to have their skin wet.- Where do they live at home?

0:09:51 > 0:09:54- In a massive tank. - And what's in the tank?

0:09:54 > 0:09:59A piece of floating wood and mainly water.

0:09:59 > 0:10:02- They love swimming, don't they?- Yeah.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05And why is that, why do they always need to be damp?

0:10:05 > 0:10:08- Because they're amphibians. - That is right.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11Can you tell us the difference between amphibians,

0:10:11 > 0:10:13like your newts, and reptiles?

0:10:13 > 0:10:20Well, reptiles are always dry and newts have to be a little bit damp.

0:10:20 > 0:10:24- That's right, perfect.- I didn't know any of that. This is so cool.

0:10:24 > 0:10:26Pretty cool, isn't it?

0:10:26 > 0:10:30Lots of people think that newts and reptiles make good pets

0:10:30 > 0:10:31and they can be really fun.

0:10:31 > 0:10:35But like Lexi, some of them can live for a very long time

0:10:35 > 0:10:37- so they need a lot of care.- Yeah.

0:10:37 > 0:10:40So make sure that you know loads about them

0:10:40 > 0:10:42before you consider getting one

0:10:42 > 0:10:46and maybe adopt one from a rescue centre, that's nice!

0:10:46 > 0:10:49Are any of your friends and family not too sure about them?

0:10:49 > 0:10:52They think that they're very cool.

0:10:52 > 0:10:55And I'm the only one in my whole entire school

0:10:55 > 0:10:56that has newts and a lizard.

0:10:56 > 0:11:00- You're the only one in your entire school?- Yeah.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02Well, I think they're really cool.

0:11:02 > 0:11:04It's important that you wash your hands

0:11:04 > 0:11:07- after you touch the animals, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10Ferne, thank you for coming in, and, Kitty,

0:11:10 > 0:11:12thanks for showing us your brilliant animals.

0:11:12 > 0:11:16Do you have an amazing pet? Why don't you get in touch?

0:12:18 > 0:12:22- So, I'm digging a hole to put a fruit in.- What fruit is going to grow?

0:12:22 > 0:12:27- These are strawberries so you'll get a lovely, red, sweet berry.- OK!

0:12:30 > 0:12:33We're making a pea wigwam.

0:12:35 > 0:12:39The wigwam is made from sticks and string.

0:12:39 > 0:12:42The wigwam will turn green as the peas grow.

0:12:46 > 0:12:49What's your favourite thing to do in gardening?

0:12:49 > 0:12:52Well, I like it, it brings me close to nature.
