0:01:31 > 0:01:33# Let's go! #

0:01:36 > 0:01:39Hello, my name's William. I'm seven years old.

0:01:41 > 0:01:45I really like playing with my dog, Samantha.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50I also like space and the solar system.

0:01:52 > 0:01:56But there's one thing I love more - my music therapy lessons.

0:01:57 > 0:02:01I've been having music therapy lessons in school for one year.

0:02:01 > 0:02:05'This is Harris. He's my best friend. Harris and me are both

0:02:05 > 0:02:07autistic.'

0:02:07 > 0:02:11Being autistic means different things to different people.

0:02:11 > 0:02:15'For me, being autistic means that I sometimes find it hard to be

0:02:15 > 0:02:18'confident around new people.

0:02:18 > 0:02:20'This is our music therapist, Waz.

0:02:20 > 0:02:25'In music therapy, we get to do lots of different activities together.'

0:02:25 > 0:02:28OK, boys. The first thing that we're going to do

0:02:28 > 0:02:30is have musical conversations.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34So that's when we've got to listen and we've got to look,

0:02:34 > 0:02:37and we've got to wait, and we've got to be patient.

0:02:37 > 0:02:42'For this game, we each take it in turns to play an instrument.'

0:02:42 > 0:02:47Before the next person plays, they must make eye contact.

0:02:55 > 0:03:01- OK, boys. Now it's time for the High Low Game!- Yay, the High Low Game!

0:03:04 > 0:03:09So, when I play a high note, you boys play your first instrument.

0:03:12 > 0:03:17And then, when I play a low note, you play the other instrument.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24'This can help Harris and me to learn how to do lots of

0:03:24 > 0:03:27'different things all at once.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30'That's called multi-tasking.'

0:03:34 > 0:03:36Hooray!

0:03:36 > 0:03:41Good job. For our last activity, we're going to do the thunderstorm.

0:03:41 > 0:03:43THEY MAKE NOISES

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Yeah.

0:03:49 > 0:03:54OK, so, the clouds are coming! The sky's getting darker.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57'For this game, we start playing music quietly,

0:03:57 > 0:04:00'and get louder and louder and louder!

0:04:00 > 0:04:05'The thunderstorm game helps Harris with loud noises. Harris used

0:04:05 > 0:04:09'to wear ear defenders at lunch time, because it was so noisy.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13'Now, thanks to music therapy, he doesn't need to wear them any more.

0:04:13 > 0:04:17'Since going to music therapy, I feel less shy now.

0:04:17 > 0:04:19'I can even answer questions in class.'

0:04:19 > 0:04:21- Yes, William?- 50p.

0:04:24 > 0:04:29'Music therapy has helped me in so many ways, but, most of all,

0:04:29 > 0:04:31'I found a best friend.'

0:04:32 > 0:04:35I'm William, and this is what I do.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39- # The Let's Go Club! Let's go!- #

0:04:40 > 0:04:41KIRSTEN PLAYS A TUNE

0:04:41 > 0:04:45A big thanks to William for telling us all about your music therapy.

0:04:45 > 0:04:48The High Low Game looks like so much fun!

0:04:49 > 0:04:51SHE PLAYS A TUNE

0:04:51 > 0:04:55Now, it's quick trick time. This musical instrument may not

0:04:55 > 0:04:59look like much, but you can get some brilliant sounds out of it.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02I present to you, the rubber glove bagpipes.

0:05:02 > 0:05:06So, for this, we're going to need a rubber glove, a cardboard tube,

0:05:06 > 0:05:09a straw, scissors, and some sticky tape.

0:05:09 > 0:05:11And you're going to need plenty of puff.

0:05:11 > 0:05:15So, the first step is to take your cardboard tube and fix your

0:05:15 > 0:05:17rubber glove over the top of it.

0:05:20 > 0:05:23Make sure it's about halfway down the tube.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26Now, fasten it tightly with sticky tape.

0:05:36 > 0:05:41You need to seal it really tight so the air doesn't get out.

0:05:41 > 0:05:44OK. Now, we need to make a little

0:05:44 > 0:05:46cut in the middle finger of your glove.

0:05:46 > 0:05:50Remember, scissors are sharp, so be careful.

0:05:52 > 0:05:57Then, we take our straw, and we fit it through the cut you've just made.

0:05:57 > 0:06:01Again, you've got to seal this one tightly with some sticky tape.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04Make sure that no air can escape.

0:06:04 > 0:06:08Now all you need to do is take your cardboard tube in one hand,

0:06:08 > 0:06:12your straw in the other, make sure the glove's stretched nice and

0:06:12 > 0:06:16tightly over the cardboard tube, take a deep breath,

0:06:16 > 0:06:18- and blow! - SHE PLAYS A TUNE

0:06:18 > 0:06:22You can try experimenting with different sounds by stretching it

0:06:22 > 0:06:25tighter or looser. You can decorate it any way you want.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28I'm thinking of using some tartan paint.

0:06:28 > 0:06:29CHORD PLAYS

0:06:29 > 0:06:32And that's your quick trick done. Why don't you have a go?

0:06:32 > 0:06:37And, if you do, be sure to send us a video of you playing your bagpipes!

0:06:37 > 0:06:40For all the details, just head to the CBeebies website.

0:06:40 > 0:06:44OK, ladies and gentlemen, here we go!

0:06:44 > 0:06:48It's time for some marvellous musical facts.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51# The Let's Go Club! #

0:06:51 > 0:06:56First up, cows like to listen to music. It's "udderly" true!

0:06:56 > 0:07:00Cows that have gentle music played to them produce more milk

0:07:00 > 0:07:02than cows who don't.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05When cows listen to soothing music at milking time,

0:07:05 > 0:07:08it makes them happy, comfortable, and relaxed.

0:07:08 > 0:07:12The happier a cow feels, the more their milk flows.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14So, if you want to double your dairy,

0:07:14 > 0:07:19you'd better put on some "moo-sic", and change the "mooood"!

0:07:19 > 0:07:23Next, mosquitoes impress each other with love songs.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25All mosquitoes buzz.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28It's the sound their wings make when they flap super fast.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32But when a boy mosquito meets a girl mosquito he really likes,

0:07:32 > 0:07:36he flaps his wings faster and faster. Then, so does she,

0:07:36 > 0:07:39until they're flapping in time together.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43And this little sign of energetic affection makes the sound of

0:07:43 > 0:07:45their buzzing exactly the same.

0:07:45 > 0:07:49Sounds like these music-loving insects really are in tune!

0:07:49 > 0:07:53And, finally - brain freeze could help you be

0:07:53 > 0:07:57a classical music composer. Ice cool! Ludwig Van Beethoven,

0:07:57 > 0:08:01- a famous German composer...- Hello! - ..used to dunk his head in

0:08:01 > 0:08:06- a bucket of ice-cold water before he wrote a piece of music!- Ahh!

0:08:06 > 0:08:10Beethoven claimed this chilly custom helped him to get in tune and

0:08:10 > 0:08:12- think of new rhythms.- Hmm!

0:08:12 > 0:08:15Well, it must have worked, because Beethoven wrote some of the

0:08:15 > 0:08:18most well-known classical music for orchestras.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22But, please don't try this at home - it's snow joke!

0:08:25 > 0:08:28# The Let's Go Club! Let's go! #

0:08:28 > 0:08:31We've a new friend to welcome to the clubhouse today,

0:08:31 > 0:08:35Yolanda, but, before we do, she's got something to show you.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37SHE PLAYS A TUNE

0:08:46 > 0:08:50- Woo! Give her a clap for that.- Thank you very much.- That was awesome.

0:08:50 > 0:08:53These guys are really curious to find out all about these

0:08:53 > 0:08:57- instruments you've got. - I'll tell you all I know.

0:08:57 > 0:09:01- You've got the first question, don't you?- Why do you love saxophones and

0:09:01 > 0:09:02playing them?

0:09:02 > 0:09:07The saxophone feels like a voice. It sings. People love the instrument.

0:09:07 > 0:09:09It feels the most natural to me.

0:09:09 > 0:09:13When I was growing up, I learnt the piano, the drums, the violin.

0:09:13 > 0:09:17Then I got to an age where I thought, "I'd like to play an

0:09:17 > 0:09:20"instrument that I have to use my wind to blow into it."

0:09:20 > 0:09:24I was introduced to the saxophone and I never looked back.

0:09:24 > 0:09:25- I've got a question.- Yes!

0:09:25 > 0:09:30There's four different saxophones here. What makes them different

0:09:30 > 0:09:33- to one another?- So the main difference is their size.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36The longer the tube, the lower the note.

0:09:36 > 0:09:39So this tenor saxophone plays really, really low.

0:09:39 > 0:09:40If I play, like...

0:09:42 > 0:09:44- That's really my lowest note.- Oh!

0:09:44 > 0:09:47Then we'd move up to the alto saxophone.

0:09:47 > 0:09:51And the alto is a little bit smaller, you can see, so it plays a

0:09:51 > 0:09:54little bit higher, and a nice sound, too.

0:09:58 > 0:10:01- And then, we move to...- That's smooth.- It's smooth!

0:10:01 > 0:10:04This is the saxophone you hear a lot in pop music,

0:10:04 > 0:10:08so that's probably why. Then you have the soprano saxophone.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11Now, this one is straight, and it sounds very high,

0:10:11 > 0:10:13cos it's the shortest.

0:10:19 > 0:10:22And, kind of, a bit classical as well.

0:10:22 > 0:10:25The last one, which looks totally different from all of them,

0:10:25 > 0:10:29is an electric wind instrument. We call it the EWI.

0:10:29 > 0:10:30Sounds a little bit sci-fi.

0:10:30 > 0:10:33I'll give you a little sound of it.

0:10:33 > 0:10:37Now, this one plays very high, very low, and it can play lots of

0:10:37 > 0:10:40different sounds. This is one of the sounds.

0:10:49 > 0:10:52SHE PLAYS VERY HIGH-PITCHED THEY LAUGH

0:10:52 > 0:10:55It plays really nice sounds and you can change it,

0:10:55 > 0:10:58so it could sound like a piano or a guitar.

0:10:58 > 0:11:01For any Let's Go-ers who want to learn an instrument and

0:11:01 > 0:11:04do what do you do, how do they go about that?

0:11:04 > 0:11:08The main thing is be passionate about the instrument. When you

0:11:08 > 0:11:11listen to music, which instrument stands out?

0:11:11 > 0:11:15The piano, the bass, the voice? When you find out, that's the instrument

0:11:15 > 0:11:17I think you should go for.

0:11:17 > 0:11:19That's amazing. Thank you for coming.

0:11:19 > 0:11:22Shall we give Yolanda a little clap and say thanks?

0:11:22 > 0:11:25- Can you do us one more favour before you go?- Yes.

0:11:25 > 0:11:29- Can you play us out?- Which one shall I play? Alto sax?

0:11:29 > 0:11:30OK, here we go.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37OK. From musical instruments to singing voices,

0:11:37 > 0:11:40it's time to hear from two more club reporters.

0:11:42 > 0:11:43# Let's go! #

0:11:44 > 0:11:49- I'm Archie.- And I'm Jess.- Today, we're making a report...
