0:01:18 > 0:01:19And to be here,

0:01:19 > 0:01:21watching the best of the best

0:01:21 > 0:01:23take the stage could not be more exciting for me.

0:01:23 > 0:01:27And Ashley, our first team up from Jamaica, Kingston Dance Central.

0:01:27 > 0:01:31Today is finally here. The first day of Internationals.

0:01:31 > 0:01:32It's just... It's so crazy.

0:01:32 > 0:01:37Out of Italy, it is Academia Toscana di Danza.

0:01:37 > 0:01:38These are the ones to watch this year.

0:01:38 > 0:01:41There's kind of an opening ceremony so we can see all the teams

0:01:41 > 0:01:44and where everybody's from.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Cape Town! The Royal Dance Academy out of South Africa.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50This is Internationals. It's almost kind of weird.

0:01:50 > 0:01:54I see so many team jackets and different languages. It's crazy.

0:01:54 > 0:01:58Up next is the team from the Philippines, Manila!

0:01:58 > 0:02:00SPEAKS IN LOCAL LANGUAGE

0:02:00 > 0:02:01It's really fantastic,

0:02:01 > 0:02:04because we really get to see who our competition is.

0:02:04 > 0:02:07That is Stockholm Dansteater out of Sweden.

0:02:07 > 0:02:09What makes Sweden so great is they're such good friends,

0:02:09 > 0:02:11even outside of the studio.

0:02:11 > 0:02:12They're just like The Next Step.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14They have that connection like we do.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17And here's a team from Poland. Yes!

0:02:17 > 0:02:19An all-male contingent.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22And that is very unique to this competition. They're strong,

0:02:22 > 0:02:24they're rehearsed and they're ready to go.

0:02:24 > 0:02:27And here we have from the UK, Summerford School of Dance.

0:02:27 > 0:02:29That's right. Some teams come to Internationals...

0:02:29 > 0:02:31Today's going to be rough, because later on,

0:02:31 > 0:02:34me and Riley are both competing against each other

0:02:34 > 0:02:35for Miss Internationals Soloist.

0:02:35 > 0:02:37And now The Next Step hits the stage

0:02:37 > 0:02:39for the first time ever at Internationals.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41It's pretty crazy, walking across that stage,

0:02:41 > 0:02:44because the theatre is huge and of course it's Internationals,

0:02:44 > 0:02:47so it's all sold out. There's just so many people.

0:02:47 > 0:02:51Here is the team that is really wowing the dance community,

0:02:51 > 0:02:53especially here in Miami.

0:02:53 > 0:02:54Very popular.

0:02:54 > 0:02:56If they can hold it together, who knows?

0:02:56 > 0:02:58They might be able to bring it all the way.

0:02:58 > 0:02:59I'm already nervous.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02And I have to compete for Mr Internationals Soloist against

0:03:02 > 0:03:05the best dancers I've ever seen.

0:03:05 > 0:03:08Internationals is going to be a lot harder than I thought.

0:03:08 > 0:03:10# We

0:03:10 > 0:03:14# We are going the show the world

0:03:14 > 0:03:18# Everything we're made of

0:03:18 > 0:03:25# We're gonna tear the roof off this place

0:03:31 > 0:03:32# Stand up! #

0:03:54 > 0:03:58We are standing amongst 1,800 of the best dancers in the world.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00Today is the day where I do

0:04:00 > 0:04:02my solo for Internationals.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05So right now, I'm kind of marking through it in the foyer.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08No-one gets eliminated in these rounds.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11But whoever wins Mr and Miss International Soloist

0:04:11 > 0:04:13also gains a five-point advantage

0:04:13 > 0:04:16moving forward in the elimination rounds.

0:04:16 > 0:04:20I just hope that I can win that five-point advantage for our team.

0:04:20 > 0:04:22You're done enough rehearsing. Come on.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24Let's go do something fun.

0:04:24 > 0:04:27I really should be practising. Things are about to get intense.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29Let's have one last bit of fun. Yeah?

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Sure. Why not?

0:04:31 > 0:04:33I agree to do one last prank with Ella,

0:04:33 > 0:04:36just because it'll be a good way to kind of let loose

0:04:36 > 0:04:38and relax for a little bit.

0:04:38 > 0:04:42The excitement... Superstition sort of has a role in this, doesn't it?

0:04:42 > 0:04:44Yes, I... At least where you're concerned!

0:04:44 > 0:04:46'We just goof off, have fun and make faces.'

0:04:46 > 0:04:47It's kind of awesome.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49I would need to chew mint bubble gum

0:04:49 > 0:04:51and blow ten decent-sized bubbles before

0:04:51 > 0:04:54I went on stage, so sometimes I'd be chewing and chewing

0:04:54 > 0:04:56and trying to blow and people are, like...

0:04:56 > 0:04:58Like, er... Oh!

0:04:58 > 0:05:02Seeing Kate being left there holding the sign. It's priceless.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09"Hi, Mom," I guess! Yeah, there's... From Miami... Hi, Mom!

0:05:09 > 0:05:14..as the Absolute Dance International Championship continues.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16# Everybody going to do it like this

0:05:16 > 0:05:18# Do it like this

0:05:18 > 0:05:20# Are you really going to do it like this?

0:05:20 > 0:05:22# Do it like this. #

0:05:24 > 0:05:28Well, there appears to be no slip-up whatsoever from every single entrant

0:05:28 > 0:05:30we've seen so far in this aspect of the competition

0:05:30 > 0:05:34for Mr International Soloist, as Poland's Bartek

0:05:34 > 0:05:35takes control of that stage.

0:05:37 > 0:05:42I'm coming up soon to go do my solo and, er...

0:05:42 > 0:05:44I've never really been this nervous before.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50Beautiful control.

0:05:54 > 0:05:58Oh, this competition is so serious. And I don't have my lucky coin.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00I've never been at a competition without my lucky coin before

0:06:00 > 0:06:02and Internationals is an odd time to start.

0:06:02 > 0:06:04It's not even a lucky coin.

0:06:04 > 0:06:08If it was a lucky coin, he wouldn't have lost it in the Everglades.

0:06:09 > 0:06:13'I need to get these five points for The Next Step'

0:06:13 > 0:06:18and I don't know how I'm going to do that without my lucky coin.

0:06:18 > 0:06:21Hope I'm not first. No, I don't mind if I was first. Really?

0:06:21 > 0:06:23'Ella and I are just checking the schedule to see

0:06:23 > 0:06:26'when we're going to be dancing our solos.'

0:06:26 > 0:06:29Oh. There's just one dance between us. Yeah. And I'm before you.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31Actually, I was wondering,

0:06:31 > 0:06:34are you doing the dance you rehearsed at The Next Step? Yeah.

0:06:34 > 0:06:35Ah, good. That's a great dance.

0:06:35 > 0:06:37It was one of my favourites. Thank you.

0:06:37 > 0:06:39It's going to be weird dancing against each other.

0:06:39 > 0:06:42Yeah, but we still have to dance our best, right? Of course.

0:06:42 > 0:06:43'It just kind of hurts a little bit,'

0:06:43 > 0:06:46just because...

0:06:46 > 0:06:49I don't want to compete against my best friend.

0:06:49 > 0:06:50Time to get our "game face" on.

0:06:52 > 0:06:54See you on the other side.

0:06:59 > 0:07:01I am in full competition mode.

0:07:01 > 0:07:05No-one's going to take this win away from me.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07# I'm going to the top

0:07:07 > 0:07:09# I'm never coming back. #

0:07:09 > 0:07:13Up now, we have Kyle from Stockholm Danceteater.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16And I have to think as a three-time Mr International Soloist,

0:07:16 > 0:07:18he's got to be the favourite here today.

0:07:18 > 0:07:19APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:07:19 > 0:07:22We're standing in the wings, waiting for Eldon to go on for his solo.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25I have NEVER seen him this nervous before.

0:07:25 > 0:07:27This Swedish dancer is...

0:07:27 > 0:07:29like, amazing.

0:07:38 > 0:07:39Man, are you good?

0:07:40 > 0:07:42His extreme lack of confidence

0:07:42 > 0:07:44is starting to worry me a little bit.

0:07:44 > 0:07:47Relax, man. You don't need that stupid coin, right?

0:07:47 > 0:07:49You're going to kill it. You always do.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51It's because I've always had the "stupid coin".

0:07:51 > 0:07:53The only reason why he may need the coin is

0:07:53 > 0:07:56because he BELIEVES he needs the coin so much.

0:07:56 > 0:08:00James texted me to come talk to Eldon and I'm really confused.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03I'm not supposed to be talking to Eldon

0:08:03 > 0:08:04until he gets to 30 pirouettes.

0:08:04 > 0:08:07I need you to get his head in the game. Just talk to him, OK?

0:08:07 > 0:08:09YOU want me to talk to Eldon? Thalia, yes. I lift the ban.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11I know that they're not supposed to talk.

0:08:13 > 0:08:15But I think this time it's necessary.

0:08:16 > 0:08:20Hey! Hey! You look great. Thanks.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23When I see Thalia, I, er, kind of relax a little bit

0:08:23 > 0:08:27because I know that she is here to support me.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31Listen, I know you are going to win this title.

0:08:31 > 0:08:35I'm not so sure. The competition is fierce.

0:08:35 > 0:08:38I've never seen him this nervous before.

0:08:38 > 0:08:40I don't know what to do.

0:08:40 > 0:08:42Just dance for me.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46That I can do.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49I feel better because now it's not about the other dancers.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52It's not about the audience.

0:08:52 > 0:08:54It's not about my lucky coin. It's about dance.

0:08:54 > 0:08:56It's about Thalia.

0:08:59 > 0:09:04And look how he closes out the dance, his arms wide open.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06It's almost as if to say, "Give me that fourth title!"

0:09:06 > 0:09:09That's right and our audience seems to agree,

0:09:09 > 0:09:11with a standing ovation!

0:09:11 > 0:09:12Please put your hands together

0:09:12 > 0:09:14for the male soloist from The Next Step, Eldon!

0:09:29 > 0:09:31AUDIENCE MEMBER: Whoo!

0:09:31 > 0:09:34# I swear there's mountains high

0:09:37 > 0:09:40# A long way below... #

0:09:40 > 0:09:43As I'm dancing, I just feel very different.

0:09:45 > 0:09:50Usually the stuff I do is just like...do a corkscrew and a B-twist

0:09:50 > 0:09:51and then hit some beats.

0:09:53 > 0:09:57This dance is a lot more emotional than the past things I've done.

0:10:01 > 0:10:06And Thalia is like the driving force of my emotions.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15I definitely feel like Eldon's dancing for me

0:10:15 > 0:10:17and it just makes me like him so much more.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20He's incorporating elements of gymnastics, elements of ballet...

0:10:20 > 0:10:24There's so much technique in this routine. And his jumps!

0:10:24 > 0:10:25Wow!

0:10:34 > 0:10:37I feel like Eldon has just come so far since Regionals and

0:10:37 > 0:10:39I really hope he wins.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51He is killing it right now. What did you say to him?

0:10:51 > 0:10:54I told him to dance for me. I tried that!

0:10:54 > 0:10:57Well, maybe that's why he was freaking out.

0:11:01 > 0:11:03Wow! With back hand-springs. Unbelievable.

0:11:03 > 0:11:05This is incredible.

0:11:05 > 0:11:08It's happening again, goose bumps! Yeah.

0:11:08 > 0:11:11The gymnastics element, the ballet technique.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14He really has everything.

0:11:14 > 0:11:16Eldon is dancing amazingly. I knew it.

0:11:18 > 0:11:21He's really just dancing from his heart.

0:11:21 > 0:11:23And that's what makes it so special.

0:11:36 > 0:11:39This could be my last solo with The Next Step.

0:11:40 > 0:11:43I'm just taking in this moment.

0:11:43 > 0:11:45CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Whatever happens,

0:11:53 > 0:11:56I could not have danced that well without Thalia.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58I just hope it's enough to impress the judges.

0:12:08 > 0:12:12Seeing Eldon perform is making me both anxious and very nervous.

0:12:12 > 0:12:14I'm the only person

0:12:14 > 0:12:16representing my team in this round.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18And I really want to win that five-point advantage

0:12:18 > 0:12:19for the rest of them.

0:12:19 > 0:12:25'She is so emotional when she dances and I just feel like...'

0:12:25 > 0:12:29I can feel everything she's feeling. And it's beautiful.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38Well, all the male soloists have had their proverbial kick at the can now.

0:12:38 > 0:12:40It's just the waiting game, isn't it?

0:12:40 > 0:12:43And this is the worst part. You can ask any dancer.

0:12:43 > 0:12:44Getting on that stage is one thing,

0:12:44 > 0:12:47but once you've left it on the stage,

0:12:47 > 0:12:51basically it's out of your hands - the tension really rises.

0:12:51 > 0:12:52You're good. You got this.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54'As we wait to hear if Eldon will win...'

0:12:54 > 0:12:56I have to admit I'm a little worried for Eldon,

0:12:56 > 0:12:58but I can't let him know that.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01All right, Ashley. I'm getting word that our judges

0:13:01 > 0:13:03have made their decision.

0:13:03 > 0:13:06CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:13:06 > 0:13:09And the Mr International Soloist winner is...

0:13:09 > 0:13:13I'm so nervous right now. This means so much to me.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16..Kyle from Sweden!

0:13:16 > 0:13:19CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:13:22 > 0:13:25I don't understand how Eldon lost. His dance was amazing.

0:13:27 > 0:13:29I just... I feel so bad for him.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37Sweden was already the strongest team here.

0:13:37 > 0:13:41And now those five extra points will make them even harder to beat.

0:13:43 > 0:13:48I'm pretty mad right now. Because this was my last chance to

0:13:48 > 0:13:50pull through for The Next Step and I didn't do it.

0:13:58 > 0:13:59Welcome back to our coverage

0:13:59 > 0:14:02of the Absolute Dance International Championship, here in Miami.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04We are down to the last four competitors

0:14:04 > 0:14:06for Miss International Soloist.

0:14:06 > 0:14:09Maddie from Stockholm Danceteater is showing why Sweden leads

0:14:09 > 0:14:12the competition we've seen so far.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14That's right and something tells me she'll be looking for

0:14:14 > 0:14:15the matching "Miss Trophy".

0:14:19 > 0:14:22APPLAUSE

0:14:22 > 0:14:25Next is Summerford School of Dance out of the UK.

0:14:25 > 0:14:26And Summerford is a studio

0:14:26 > 0:14:30that is known for being no-nonsense and having really top-shelf talent,

0:14:30 > 0:14:32'so I really can't wait to see what happens on stage.'

0:14:32 > 0:14:34Good luck.

0:14:34 > 0:14:39CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:14:40 > 0:14:46Ella takes the stage and they play my solo song instead of hers,

0:14:46 > 0:14:48which is weird.

0:14:48 > 0:14:50What's even weirder is that they don't stop.

0:14:51 > 0:14:55And then I realise she's doing my choreography...

0:14:55 > 0:14:57to my song.

0:14:59 > 0:15:01This is your solo. I know.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06There are two reasons why I stole her solo.

0:15:06 > 0:15:07Because the solo's good.

0:15:07 > 0:15:10It is better than any dance I could have ever come up with.

0:15:10 > 0:15:13And secondly, because it might throw her off so much,

0:15:13 > 0:15:16that she blows her chance of even winning this thing.

0:15:16 > 0:15:20As I said to her, I will do anything I can to win this competition.

0:15:20 > 0:15:22I'm appalled.

0:15:22 > 0:15:24I feel so bad for Riley.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27I watched her rehearse that solo for so long.

0:15:27 > 0:15:30I feel like such an idiot.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33Ella warned me and she told me she would mess with me

0:15:33 > 0:15:35if she had the chance.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37And I gave her the perfect opportunity to.

0:15:37 > 0:15:38I showed her my solo.

0:15:38 > 0:15:42My biggest mistake was believing Ella was my friend.

0:15:45 > 0:15:47CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:15:51 > 0:15:54And the crowd is going insane.

0:15:54 > 0:15:57A standing ovation for Ella from Summerford.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00That's got to be one of the best solos we've seen all day.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03The emotional was there, which we're not used to from Summerford.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06And I have to tell you, that choreography touched me.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09It had so much heart. The dance was brilliant.

0:16:09 > 0:16:10Good luck.

0:16:10 > 0:16:14I have to go on stage after one more dancer.

0:16:14 > 0:16:15And I have nothing.

0:16:19 > 0:16:20What am I going to do?

0:16:35 > 0:16:38What am I going to do? She just took my dance.

0:16:38 > 0:16:40I can't do the same one that she just did.

0:16:40 > 0:16:41If I did the same routine as Ella,

0:16:41 > 0:16:45it would look like I stole her solo, instead of the other way around.

0:16:45 > 0:16:46Doesn't anyone else have a solo?

0:16:46 > 0:16:48Well, I have a solo. OK, I'll teach it to you.

0:16:48 > 0:16:50You can do it really fast.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53No. We don't have time. You have to do it.

0:16:53 > 0:16:54Riley...

0:16:54 > 0:16:56Giselle - you're going to do the solo.

0:16:56 > 0:16:57Come and change ASAP.

0:17:14 > 0:17:17Taking her place is going to be team captain Giselle.

0:17:17 > 0:17:20Wow. I'm kind of stressing out for her. That's...

0:17:20 > 0:17:22You've never seen anything quite like this, have you?

0:17:22 > 0:17:26I've actually never seen anything like this in Internationals.

0:17:26 > 0:17:26Thank you.

0:17:26 > 0:17:30Will the dancer for The Next Step please enter the stage?

0:17:30 > 0:17:32CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:17:36 > 0:17:40This is my first time performing on the stage and I have to do a solo?

0:17:40 > 0:17:42I haven't even practised!

0:17:42 > 0:17:45All I can do now is hope that Giselle goes out there...

0:17:45 > 0:17:47and kills it.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00# So this is how it ends?

0:18:04 > 0:18:07# No worlds left to avenge... #

0:18:21 > 0:18:24This is absolutely incredible.

0:18:24 > 0:18:27And I'm not only doing it for me, but I'm doing it for my team,

0:18:27 > 0:18:29and especially Riley.

0:18:30 > 0:18:33Giselle is doing incredible.

0:18:35 > 0:18:38She's such an amazing dancer and

0:18:38 > 0:18:42it's really, really nice to see her do her best.

0:18:43 > 0:18:46# Don't take enemies for friends... #

0:18:53 > 0:18:56Giselle's solo is pretty good.

0:18:56 > 0:18:59But...I think I can beat her.

0:19:02 > 0:19:06Giselle is dancing amazing. She always does.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08But this is Internationals

0:19:08 > 0:19:11and this time "amazing" might not cut it.

0:19:13 > 0:19:17# When the war is over

0:19:17 > 0:19:20# When the war is over. #

0:19:22 > 0:19:24CHEERING

0:19:24 > 0:19:26As I finish my solo...

0:19:28 > 0:19:30..it is so...

0:19:32 > 0:19:35A standing ovation for Giselle of The Next Step,

0:19:35 > 0:19:39and goose bumps from my co-host Ashley Leggat.

0:19:43 > 0:19:45Very well played.

0:19:45 > 0:19:47At this point, I want nothing to do with Ella.

0:19:47 > 0:19:51How could you do that to me? We're supposed to be friends.

0:19:51 > 0:19:54Riley, do you not get it yet? That's the game.

0:19:54 > 0:19:56It's not a game to me.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59Then you are going to lose.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03'She's wrong. I'm not going to lose.'

0:20:04 > 0:20:07There's no way that she's going to beat The Next Step.

0:20:07 > 0:20:11Ladies and gentlemen, the judges have made their decision.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14I'm just in the wings waiting to hear who wins

0:20:14 > 0:20:16and I just hope it's me.

0:20:16 > 0:20:20I have never felt so much pressure on myself in my lifetime.

0:20:20 > 0:20:23Absolute Dance International female soloist...

0:20:24 > 0:20:27I just hope what I did was enough for my team.

0:20:31 > 0:20:33CHEERING

0:20:33 > 0:20:36She cheated, and she still won.

0:20:37 > 0:20:38How is that fair?

0:20:43 > 0:20:45Ella winning solo means that Team England

0:20:45 > 0:20:47now has a five-point advantage,

0:20:47 > 0:20:51which they could use in any elimination round.

0:20:51 > 0:20:52First round, Ella.

0:20:56 > 0:21:00Which means they might even be able to use it against us.
