0:00:03 > 0:00:07I'm Stacey Dooley and I love pets of all shapes and sizes.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09but seeing them sick is definitely no fun.

0:00:09 > 0:00:11Fortunately, when that happens,

0:00:11 > 0:00:14there are fantastic places like this where help is at hand

0:00:14 > 0:00:16to fix them up.

0:00:18 > 0:00:20Meet passionate pet lover Cheryl...

0:00:20 > 0:00:23And that is how she broke it in the first place!

0:00:24 > 0:00:27..the biggest softie of them all, gentle James.

0:00:27 > 0:00:29Hello, Stu.

0:00:29 > 0:00:32Come on, come for a little swim.

0:00:32 > 0:00:35The vet who talks to the animals, Cat.

0:00:35 > 0:00:37You are a snorty pig.

0:00:37 > 0:00:39Oh, no, don't eat the tape measure!

0:00:39 > 0:00:41And the one with all the best moves, Rory.

0:00:43 > 0:00:44Oh, look at that.

0:00:44 > 0:00:46Wow, that was a snog.

0:00:49 > 0:00:51They are the vets with The Pets Factor.

0:00:58 > 0:01:00Coming up on today's show...

0:01:01 > 0:01:03Cheryl has an emergency on her hands...

0:01:03 > 0:01:06A dog with a fractured leg and a foreign body.

0:01:06 > 0:01:08..with a dog that's landed in double trouble.

0:01:08 > 0:01:11I think this is a first, Sarah. We haven't had many firsts.

0:01:12 > 0:01:16Cat the vet gets up close with some irresistible cockapoo pups.

0:01:17 > 0:01:19Let me have a look at you.

0:01:19 > 0:01:20Hi!

0:01:21 > 0:01:25And Rory befriends a cat who's been missing for nine months.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27You are good with animals. I don't think she'd let me do that.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29She trusts me. Thank you.

0:01:31 > 0:01:35But first, we're off to Essex to see what Cheryl is up to.

0:01:35 > 0:01:36Let's go, let's go.

0:01:37 > 0:01:39Whatever the problem,

0:01:39 > 0:01:43Cheryl will always do everything she can to fix an animal in need.

0:01:43 > 0:01:45It's either put them to sleep or try, and we always try.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50When you qualify as a vet surgeon, the learning doesn't stop there.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53I'm constantly training and improving my abilities.

0:01:53 > 0:01:55There's not many things I haven't done before.

0:01:55 > 0:01:57This is really exciting.

0:01:57 > 0:02:00And I'm always so happy when a beloved pet pulls through.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03- That's it.- Come on!- See?

0:02:05 > 0:02:08The practice has been busy since first thing this morning,

0:02:08 > 0:02:10but Cheryl's day is far from over.

0:02:13 > 0:02:17Six-month-old Rocky has been rushed into the vets by her owner after a

0:02:17 > 0:02:19nasty fall off the sofa.

0:02:20 > 0:02:24In the red corner, Rocky, a French bulldog.

0:02:24 > 0:02:28Although she likes to think of herself as more of a boxer.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32And in the blue corner, Brutus the sofa.

0:02:32 > 0:02:33DING-DING!

0:02:36 > 0:02:38This puppy thought she was a champ.

0:02:39 > 0:02:41But she's finally met her match.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46Now she's backed herself into a tight corner.

0:02:46 > 0:02:48What damage will the X-ray show up?

0:02:50 > 0:02:51So, look, I found a fracture...

0:02:51 > 0:02:54- Oh, my gosh.- ..which explains why she is so lame.

0:02:54 > 0:02:57- Poor Rocky.- Also, a nail!

0:02:57 > 0:02:59A nail in her belly.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Vet Jemima did well to spot that on the X-ray.

0:03:02 > 0:03:03This is really serious.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06Poor Rocky. Not only has she got a broken leg,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09but she's got a nail in her stomach.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10And we can't leave that there,

0:03:10 > 0:03:14so she's got to have two major operations right now.

0:03:16 > 0:03:18- Right, here you go. - Thank you.- You all ready?

0:03:18 > 0:03:20- Yeah.- We're on.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24Nurse Sarah quickly gets Rocky ready for theatre,

0:03:24 > 0:03:26while Cheryl scrubs in for the big op.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29Bless her.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32I would never normally do two major surgeries on such

0:03:32 > 0:03:34a small, young dog, but we have no choice.

0:03:34 > 0:03:35Hopefully she'll be OK.

0:03:37 > 0:03:38This is advanced surgery,

0:03:38 > 0:03:43so newly qualified vet Jemima has handed the job to Cheryl.

0:03:43 > 0:03:44Poor Rocky.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47She starts by repairing the fractured leg.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50This break is a really common fracture in puppies

0:03:50 > 0:03:53and really serious if it is not treated because then the

0:03:53 > 0:03:57bones will heal in a weird way and she will have a damaged leg forever.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01Cheryl needs to fit a pin into the bone to hold the fracture together.

0:04:02 > 0:04:03SQUAWK!

0:04:03 > 0:04:07If you're squeamish, look away now!

0:04:07 > 0:04:10This is the bit of bone that shouldn't be sticking out.

0:04:10 > 0:04:12I've done quite a lot of bone surgery before,

0:04:12 > 0:04:15but it's always a bit tricky when it's a little puppy.

0:04:15 > 0:04:17And it's not Rocky's only problem.

0:04:20 > 0:04:22A dog with a fractured leg and a foreign body.

0:04:22 > 0:04:25I think this is a first, Sarah. We haven't had many firsts.

0:04:25 > 0:04:28I thought we've seen everything, haven't we?

0:04:29 > 0:04:32Cheryl pushes in the metal pin to stabilise the bone.

0:04:35 > 0:04:36Yeah, that feels good.

0:04:36 > 0:04:39Now we have to do my worst bit, which is to cut the pin.

0:04:41 > 0:04:45OK, that was good. So this feels really stable, in position.

0:04:46 > 0:04:49With the pin holding the fractured bone together,

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Cheryl strengthens it by wrapping wire around it.

0:04:54 > 0:04:58Rocky will need to rest up for a few weeks until her leg fully mends.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02One problem down, one more to go.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05Later, Cheryl is on the hunt for the missing nail

0:05:05 > 0:05:07that's somewhere in Rocky's tummy.

0:05:15 > 0:05:16Come on, big man!

0:05:18 > 0:05:21Next, it's over to Sheffield with Cat the vet.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24What shall we have a look at first - rats or snakes?

0:05:24 > 0:05:26Cat's the cool one in a crisis.

0:05:26 > 0:05:28Yeah, it'll be fine. It will be fine.

0:05:28 > 0:05:30When pets are poorly or playing up...

0:05:30 > 0:05:33- CAT HISSES - OK. There we go. I know.

0:05:33 > 0:05:35..she's the one to stay calm.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37It's not rocket science.

0:05:37 > 0:05:38Time for tea.

0:05:38 > 0:05:39But she likes to party, too.

0:05:39 > 0:05:44- I made that. Happy birthday, James. Yay!- Thank you, Cat.

0:05:44 > 0:05:46That's a lovely cake.

0:05:46 > 0:05:50And there's nothing Cat and co like better than a good celebration.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52Yay!

0:05:52 > 0:05:55# Happy birthday, dear James

0:05:55 > 0:05:58# Happy birthday to you. #

0:05:58 > 0:05:59Yay!

0:05:59 > 0:06:01James is the baby of the bunch here,

0:06:01 > 0:06:03so of course we're going to spoil him,

0:06:03 > 0:06:04and who doesn't love a birthday treat?

0:06:06 > 0:06:09But there's someone else here who's looking forward to a special day.

0:06:11 > 0:06:15Ruby the black cockapoo is here with her daughter, Bella,

0:06:15 > 0:06:17one of the pups from her first litter.

0:06:17 > 0:06:19This may be Ruby's second pregnancy,

0:06:19 > 0:06:22but it's still quite nerve-racking for owner Ros.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25We're coming here today to just have an ultrasound scan to see if

0:06:25 > 0:06:27everything is going well and maybe

0:06:27 > 0:06:30get a bit of an idea of how many she's going to have.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33As a vet, pregnancy screening is one of our favourite things.

0:06:33 > 0:06:34Absolute heaven.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37It usually means that lots of other cute, little animals

0:06:37 > 0:06:39are on their way.

0:06:39 > 0:06:40Can we see Ruby, please?

0:06:40 > 0:06:42And as James is the baby of the team,

0:06:42 > 0:06:45it's only fair he gets to check for Ruby's babies.

0:06:45 > 0:06:47Right, OK. How is Ruby doing?

0:06:47 > 0:06:50- Is she well?- She seems a little bit bigger than last time.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52We'll have Ruby up on the table, then.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57While Ros keeps her calm, James gently prepares Ruby's tummy

0:06:57 > 0:06:58for her scan.

0:06:58 > 0:07:00Right, we're going to turn the lights down.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02With everyone facing the screen,

0:07:02 > 0:07:05including Ruby, the excitement mounts.

0:07:05 > 0:07:07You see, there's a puppy's heartbeat.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10So that's a puppy's head. Yeah.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14I think she is pretty close to...

0:07:14 > 0:07:18pretty close to giving birth in the next fortnight, I think...

0:07:18 > 0:07:20- Yeah.- Yeah, it sounds about right to me.

0:07:22 > 0:07:25The puppies have been growing in Ruby's tummy for six weeks,

0:07:25 > 0:07:27but this final fortnight is crucial.

0:07:27 > 0:07:30What a good dog. Well done, Ruby.

0:07:30 > 0:07:34With Ruby's screening over, James is mightily impressed.

0:07:34 > 0:07:38They're all doing great and there's no problems that we can see on the

0:07:38 > 0:07:40scan, so we just have to wait, really,

0:07:40 > 0:07:42and see what happens in the next couple of weeks.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45With four or maybe five pups on the way,

0:07:45 > 0:07:47Ros can really start to make plans.

0:07:47 > 0:07:50Really happy, yeah, really great news, so thanks, James, for that.

0:07:50 > 0:07:51That's reassured me.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55So, here they are!

0:07:55 > 0:07:58Join us later when it's puppy love for vet Cat.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00Hi!

0:08:00 > 0:08:03Oh, did I wake you up from your nap? I'm very sorry.

0:08:03 > 0:08:06And can Cheryl nail the problem with Rocky the French bulldog?

0:08:06 > 0:08:09It literally is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16Time to hook up with Rory in London.

0:08:18 > 0:08:22This cheeky chappie hasn't been vetting for as long as the others.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25Every day is a learning curve and I just love getting stuck in.

0:08:25 > 0:08:27I want to see what's in the dog.

0:08:27 > 0:08:30But he's already making an impression on his workmates...

0:08:31 > 0:08:32..and his patients.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36What has two thumbs and loves animals?

0:08:36 > 0:08:37This guy.

0:08:39 > 0:08:43Today he is meeting a new patient brought in by owners Amy and Tom.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46This cat has a very long tale to tell.

0:08:49 > 0:08:51Sirius's family love her to bits,

0:08:51 > 0:08:53but one day she went out and never returned.

0:08:55 > 0:08:59Her heartbroken owners couldn't find her anywhere.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01But nine months later...

0:09:02 > 0:09:03..somebody found her...

0:09:06 > 0:09:08..and delivered her home.

0:09:08 > 0:09:09"Surprise!"

0:09:09 > 0:09:12So Rory needs to make sure she's fit and well.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17She's been right around our back garden for the last nine months,

0:09:17 > 0:09:19but we haven't been able to find her.

0:09:21 > 0:09:23After nine months in the wilderness,

0:09:23 > 0:09:26Sirius could have easily picked up all sorts of bugs and injuries,

0:09:26 > 0:09:30so it's crucial that Rory gives her a thorough health check.

0:09:31 > 0:09:33So, tell me what happened.

0:09:33 > 0:09:37She got out into the garden and just got lost in the scrub

0:09:37 > 0:09:38behind our garden.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41We kind of did search parties every night for a while,

0:09:41 > 0:09:45trying to find her and just kind of thought, yeah.

0:09:45 > 0:09:46You thought she was gone.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51When Amy and Tom first heard Sirius had been found,

0:09:51 > 0:09:54they expected her to have lost loads of weight.

0:09:54 > 0:09:56She's looking pretty good.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58- Yeah.- She's not the skinniest...

0:09:58 > 0:10:00- No.- ..for a cat that's been missing for nine months.

0:10:00 > 0:10:04I reckon Sirius has been relying on the kindness of strangers

0:10:04 > 0:10:07and she's been probably been getting fed all over the place.

0:10:07 > 0:10:09Let's have a little look in that mouth, missus.

0:10:09 > 0:10:11Well done. Look at that smile.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13You are good with animals.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15I don't think she'd let me do that.

0:10:15 > 0:10:16LAUGHTER

0:10:16 > 0:10:20Well, you know, she trusts me, don't you? Eh?

0:10:22 > 0:10:24I normally see a lot of hisses and scratches.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27I just wish all my feline patients were like Sirius.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30Although there's no sign of a problem,

0:10:30 > 0:10:33Rory needs to give Sirius a vaccination booster.

0:10:33 > 0:10:35Oh, who's a good girl?

0:10:35 > 0:10:37So well-behaved.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39Unfortunately, that was the easy bit.

0:10:39 > 0:10:41Going well so far.

0:10:41 > 0:10:43How will she cope with a worming tablet?

0:10:43 > 0:10:45OK, sweetie, ready?

0:10:47 > 0:10:49Open wide. You're going to go like that.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51- CAT HISSES - I know, I'm sorry.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53And then you swallowed it cos you're awesome.

0:10:53 > 0:10:54Well done.

0:10:55 > 0:10:57So that's the all clear for Sirius

0:10:57 > 0:10:59and now she's protected from fleas and worms,

0:10:59 > 0:11:02she should settle back into home life.

0:11:04 > 0:11:07Well, after nine months missing, it could have been really serious,

0:11:07 > 0:11:08but she's just Sirius.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10LAUGHTER

0:11:10 > 0:11:12Serious. Sirius.

0:11:12 > 0:11:14Get it?

0:11:20 > 0:11:22Excuse me, will you come down, please?

0:11:22 > 0:11:26Time to get back to Essex with Cheryl and Rocky the French bulldog.

0:11:28 > 0:11:30I need another hand today.

0:11:32 > 0:11:35It's a hectic day at the practice.

0:11:35 > 0:11:38She's in the middle of an emergency operation.

0:11:38 > 0:11:39DING-DING!

0:11:39 > 0:11:42Rocky the French bulldog lost her battle with the sofa...

0:11:44 > 0:11:46..after falling off and breaking her leg.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50But when the team X-rayed her leg,

0:11:50 > 0:11:53they discovered she'd also swallowed a nail.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56- She's been quite stable so far, Sarah.- She has, yeah.

0:11:56 > 0:11:58Cheryl's pinned back the fractured bones,

0:11:58 > 0:12:03but this unlucky bulldog now needs a second operation to remove the nail.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05- Right, good luck.- Thank you.

0:12:05 > 0:12:06Nail it!

0:12:06 > 0:12:08Ha-ha-ha!

0:12:09 > 0:12:11Puppies are constantly putting everything in their mouth,

0:12:11 > 0:12:14but that's normal for them, that's how they explore.

0:12:14 > 0:12:16It's just sometimes they get the wrong things.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18But a nail, that's quite dramatic.

0:12:20 > 0:12:24Rocky's tummy is cut open so Cheryl can carefully feel through her

0:12:24 > 0:12:26intestines to find the nail.

0:12:26 > 0:12:28SQUAWK!

0:12:28 > 0:12:31If you're squeamish, look away now!

0:12:31 > 0:12:33It's definitely not in her stomach, cos you can see on the X-ray,

0:12:33 > 0:12:37and I've checked all through the small intestine, which is this.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39I can't feel a nail.

0:12:42 > 0:12:45It literally is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

0:12:45 > 0:12:48When you're looking for something as small and thin as a nail,

0:12:48 > 0:12:51rule number one - always double-check.

0:12:51 > 0:12:52I don't want to miss anything,

0:12:52 > 0:12:55but it's really quite hard to feel because guts are made of muscle,

0:12:55 > 0:12:57so they're really thick.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00Oh, no, there it is. There.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05Yes, that's definitely nail-like, isn't it?

0:13:05 > 0:13:06Finally.

0:13:06 > 0:13:09Now Cheryl has to carefully open up the intestine wall

0:13:09 > 0:13:11enough to push the nail out.

0:13:11 > 0:13:13Look at that.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17- Phew!- I almost didn't find it.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20I find surgery on the guts really fascinating,

0:13:20 > 0:13:21but I get a little bit worried

0:13:21 > 0:13:25when I'm doing it because the inside of the gut is just full of bacteria

0:13:25 > 0:13:27and if they were to leak out,

0:13:27 > 0:13:30they could cause a nasty infection, so when you stitch the guts up,

0:13:30 > 0:13:33you have to do it perfectly.

0:13:33 > 0:13:37I'm not going to get much sleep tonight, Rocky, thinking about you.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39Now they need to wait and see how she copes

0:13:39 > 0:13:41on the rocky road to recovery.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43ROCKY SNORES

0:13:49 > 0:13:51Hey, I'm talking to you.

0:13:51 > 0:13:54It's back to Sheffield with vet Cat and Ruby the cockapoo.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00Cat has come to see this new mum...

0:14:00 > 0:14:02Thank you. Hi, Ruby.

0:14:02 > 0:14:03So here they are.

0:14:03 > 0:14:07..who's recently given birth to five fabulous pups.

0:14:07 > 0:14:09Hi, Mummy. Are these your babies?

0:14:09 > 0:14:13Are they? Didn't you do a good job? Aren't they amazing?

0:14:13 > 0:14:15Wonderful. So, how long did it take her to have all five?

0:14:15 > 0:14:17It was about two and a half hours.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19It was pretty much half an hour in between each one...

0:14:19 > 0:14:22- That's absolutely copybook. - ..which was ideal, you know.

0:14:22 > 0:14:24Well done, Ruby, you read the rules.

0:14:24 > 0:14:27Starting with mum, time to give the whole family a health check.

0:14:27 > 0:14:29Has she been well? You've been happy with her?

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Yeah, no, she's been really well.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34Beautiful, clean teeth you've got.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37So she's got nice, big, easy-to-find nipples

0:14:37 > 0:14:39that the babies latch onto really easily.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44Come on, then, Stan the man, let me have a look at you.

0:14:44 > 0:14:46Hi!

0:14:46 > 0:14:51Oh, did I wake you up from your nap? I'm very sorry. I'm very sorry.

0:14:51 > 0:14:54Puppies like this sleep for 18 or 19 hours a day,

0:14:54 > 0:14:57so Cat is lucky to see them awake.

0:14:57 > 0:14:59Oh, my goodness, he looks like crushed velvet, doesn't he?

0:14:59 > 0:15:01Isn't he beautiful?

0:15:01 > 0:15:04Cat makes sure the four boys and their little sister

0:15:04 > 0:15:05are developing well.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Your little heart is just fine.

0:15:07 > 0:15:09Beating away super-strong.

0:15:09 > 0:15:10Any teeth in there yet?

0:15:10 > 0:15:14Aww, they're just starting to come, aren't they?

0:15:14 > 0:15:16Oh, yeah, he's fantastic. Right, perfect.

0:15:16 > 0:15:19These pups are just two and a half weeks old,

0:15:19 > 0:15:21but they are already growing more independent from Ruby.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24They're even learning to feed on their own.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27We just start with a little bit of milk, teaching them how to lap,

0:15:27 > 0:15:32and then gradually moving them onto porridge and then to puppy food,

0:15:32 > 0:15:34and, as you can see, they're more than ready.

0:15:34 > 0:15:36They know exactly what to do.

0:15:36 > 0:15:39Ros has found great homes for all the pups to go to,

0:15:39 > 0:15:42which is a good job, because if I spend much longer with these cuties,

0:15:42 > 0:15:44I think I'll have to take one home!

0:15:45 > 0:15:48It's amazing, isn't it? To think that those little, tiny dots

0:15:48 > 0:15:51on the scan, and here they are, perfect.

0:15:59 > 0:16:02DOG HOWLS

0:16:02 > 0:16:05Let's get back to Cheryl's place in Essex and Rocky the French bulldog.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12Hi, Rocky. You ready for your X-rays?

0:16:12 > 0:16:13Cheryl has the day off today,

0:16:13 > 0:16:18and vet Jemima has had a surprise visit from a recent patient.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20Rocky came back in this morning

0:16:20 > 0:16:22because she's got a bit of swelling behind

0:16:22 > 0:16:25where the pin is in her leg.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27Probably just a bit of a reaction,

0:16:27 > 0:16:29but we're going to do some X-rays just in case.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32Since having her broken leg pinned back together

0:16:32 > 0:16:35and having a nail removed from her tummy two weeks ago...

0:16:35 > 0:16:36Come on, cutie pie.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39..Rocky has been forced to rest up.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42The excitement of seeing her owner last night had her jumping about.

0:16:44 > 0:16:45Oh, Rocky!

0:16:45 > 0:16:47What are you playing at?

0:16:47 > 0:16:52Jemima and nurse Nick need to sedate Rocky for another X-ray to see just

0:16:52 > 0:16:54how bad the damage is.

0:16:54 > 0:16:55- All right.- OK. All right.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59Now she's safely anaesthetised,

0:16:59 > 0:17:03they move her into X-ray to see what's happened to the pinned leg.

0:17:03 > 0:17:04I think it might be a broken pin.

0:17:04 > 0:17:07Yeah, I thought that earlier as well. X-rays.

0:17:09 > 0:17:13If the pin is broken, Jemima will have to operate to get it out.

0:17:13 > 0:17:14Ohhh!

0:17:14 > 0:17:18But the X-ray results are even more surprising.

0:17:18 > 0:17:19It's not even in there!

0:17:19 > 0:17:22The entire pin has come out.

0:17:23 > 0:17:25Oh, Rocky, Rocky, Rocky.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27Time for a third operation.

0:17:31 > 0:17:35It's a bit of a scary area to be operating on.

0:17:35 > 0:17:38Vet Jemima has only been with us for a few months,

0:17:38 > 0:17:41but she's already proven to be a really reliable pair of hands

0:17:41 > 0:17:44and I know she can fix Rocky.

0:17:44 > 0:17:47Jemima has to carefully feel for the pin with her forceps

0:17:47 > 0:17:50and then slowly pull it from Rocky's leg.

0:17:50 > 0:17:51SQUAWK!

0:17:51 > 0:17:54If you're squeamish, look away now!

0:17:54 > 0:17:56That's coming there.

0:17:56 > 0:17:58Yeah, it was about there, yeah.

0:17:58 > 0:18:00Got it.

0:18:00 > 0:18:01There it is.

0:18:02 > 0:18:03SHE EXHALES

0:18:08 > 0:18:09Success.

0:18:09 > 0:18:10Although the pin is out,

0:18:10 > 0:18:14there is still wire holding the fracture in place,

0:18:14 > 0:18:16which Jemima hopes will help it continue to heal.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18She's young, so when they're younger,

0:18:18 > 0:18:20their bones heal a lot quicker,

0:18:20 > 0:18:23so maybe she would be better just having a lot of cage rest

0:18:23 > 0:18:26and seeing how she goes that way.

0:18:26 > 0:18:27Done.

0:18:27 > 0:18:29- Well done, Jemima.- Well done, you.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31- Good teamwork.- Teamwork.

0:18:31 > 0:18:33# Wake up, it's a brand-new day... #

0:18:33 > 0:18:36And four weeks later at home with owner Annie...

0:18:36 > 0:18:38Good girl.

0:18:38 > 0:18:40..Rocky is back on her feet.

0:18:42 > 0:18:45And despite the sofa being the cause of her broken leg...

0:18:45 > 0:18:46DING-DING!

0:18:46 > 0:18:50..it looks like fearless Rocky is going in for round two.

0:18:53 > 0:18:57Oh, it's great to see Rocky on all four paws and fighting fit again.

0:18:57 > 0:19:00Now please try and stay out of trouble, girl, eh?

0:19:00 > 0:19:02Oh, hello!

0:19:02 > 0:19:05Remember Sirius, the cat who went missing for nine months?

0:19:06 > 0:19:09Well, after being given the all clear from Rory,

0:19:09 > 0:19:12she's settling back into family life.

0:19:12 > 0:19:15And now she has a new playmate called Ron.

0:19:15 > 0:19:17Hopefully this adventurous moggy

0:19:17 > 0:19:19won't be tempted to leave home again.

0:19:21 > 0:19:24Next time on The Pets Factor,

0:19:24 > 0:19:26it's a testing time for Rory...

0:19:26 > 0:19:28- ALL:- Hi, Rory.

0:19:28 > 0:19:29..when he goes back to school...

0:19:29 > 0:19:33Oh, sweetie! OK, you've volunteered yourself.

0:19:33 > 0:19:37..and James needs a steady hand to perform a very delicate procedure.

0:19:37 > 0:19:41One slip now and my needle is going to go straight into his eye.
