0:10:26 > 0:10:29..and smooth it down.

0:10:29 > 0:10:32There we go. Now, into the oven.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02Tikkabilla, tock

0:11:02 > 0:11:07What's the time on the Tikkabilla Clock?

0:11:10 > 0:11:15Well, the long hand is pointing down to the number 6,

0:11:15 > 0:11:19so that means it's half past something.

0:11:20 > 0:11:23And the short hand

0:11:23 > 0:11:27is halfway past the number 7.

0:11:27 > 0:11:32So it must be half past 7.

0:11:32 > 0:11:36Mmm... But what's underneath the clock?

0:11:37 > 0:11:39Oh!

0:11:39 > 0:11:42It's a Highland cow.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44And he's in a bit of a mess.

0:11:46 > 0:11:52Now, today's story is called Hamish, The Highland Cow.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56It was springtime in the glen.

0:11:56 > 0:12:01All the animals were preening and cleaning their spring coats.

0:12:01 > 0:12:07All except...Hamish, the Highland cow.

0:12:07 > 0:12:12Hamish never groomed his long, tangly coat.

0:12:12 > 0:12:15He hated having baths

0:12:15 > 0:12:18and he certainly never, ever

0:12:18 > 0:12:21let anyone cut his hair.

0:12:21 > 0:12:24Hamish's hair was so long

0:12:24 > 0:12:27that he couldn't always see through it.

0:12:27 > 0:12:32It was so knotty and tangly

0:12:32 > 0:12:35- that things lived in it.- Eugh!

0:12:35 > 0:12:38And it was so sticky with toffee

0:12:38 > 0:12:42that everything stuck to it.

0:12:42 > 0:12:44You see,

0:12:44 > 0:12:48Hamish loved eating toffee.

0:12:48 > 0:12:51Sticky, gooey, chewy toffee.

0:12:51 > 0:12:56And the perfect place to keep his toffee treats

0:12:56 > 0:13:00was in his long, tangly coat. TAMBA GIGGLES

0:13:00 > 0:13:03But the other animals had had enough

0:13:03 > 0:13:08of Hamish's stinky, dirty, matted hair.

0:13:08 > 0:13:13"It's time you had a haircut, Hamish," said Cat.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16"What?!" cried Hamish.

0:13:16 > 0:13:19"A haircut?! Never!"

0:13:19 > 0:13:22"We'll give you a big surprise," said Rabbit.

0:13:22 > 0:13:27Now, Hamish loved surprises.

0:13:27 > 0:13:30"Mmm," he thought.

0:13:30 > 0:13:35"What if the surprise was a never-ending supply of toffee?

0:13:35 > 0:13:37"Mmm!

0:13:39 > 0:13:43"Maybe a wee trim," he said to his friends.

0:13:43 > 0:13:46So the next morning, the animals

0:13:46 > 0:13:51and a very nervous Hamish set off for the hairdresser.

0:13:51 > 0:13:56It wasn't far and before long they had arrived.

0:13:56 > 0:14:00Hamish slowly peered around the salon door.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03Sheep salon!

0:14:04 > 0:14:07What a sight!

0:14:07 > 0:14:13There were pink sheep, blue sheep, stripy sheep and polka-dot sheep.

0:14:13 > 0:14:19There were sheep with big hair, short hair, long hair, curly-whirly hair,

0:14:19 > 0:14:22and there in the middle of them all,

0:14:22 > 0:14:26snipping and clipping away, was...

0:14:26 > 0:14:29BOTH: ..the hairdresser!

0:14:29 > 0:14:34Hamish hadn't realised that the hairdresser could be so much fun.

0:14:34 > 0:14:41There were lots of books to read and great things to play with.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44Smelly things, spray things,

0:14:44 > 0:14:48and a big chair that went up and down.

0:14:48 > 0:14:54and round and round! Whee-ee-ee! Then,

0:14:54 > 0:15:00"Mr Hamish," said the hairdresser. "What will it be today, sir?"

0:15:01 > 0:15:08Hamish still felt a bit nervous, but he took a deep breath,

0:15:08 > 0:15:14"Uh-h! A w-wee trim, p-please," he said.

0:15:14 > 0:15:18The hairdresser set to work on Hamish's coat.

0:15:18 > 0:15:22With a snippety-snip and a clippity-clip,

0:15:22 > 0:15:27the scissors whizzed over Hamish's long, tangly coat.

0:15:27 > 0:15:29It didn't hurt at all.

0:15:29 > 0:15:34"What do you think, Mr Hamish?" asked the hairdresser.

0:15:35 > 0:15:39Hamish looked in the mirror.

0:15:39 > 0:15:43- "Oh! Gr-r-roovy!"- Groovy!

0:15:43 > 0:15:48He beamed. All the animals agreed.

0:15:48 > 0:15:54And the hairdresser even gave Hamish lots of toffees for being so brave.

0:15:54 > 0:15:57But Hamish looked sad.

0:15:57 > 0:16:02"I've got nowhere to keep them," he said.

0:16:02 > 0:16:08Then, "SURPRISE!" shouted his friends.

0:16:08 > 0:16:15And they gave Hamish a very special bag to put all his yummy toffees in.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18Hamish was delighted.

0:16:18 > 0:16:22He popped his toffees in his bag and set off home with his friends.

0:16:22 > 0:16:28"Now you're the coolest cow in the Highlands," said the animals,

0:16:28 > 0:16:31giving Hamish a huge hug.

0:16:31 > 0:16:37"Oh, don't mess up my hair," said a very smart...

0:16:37 > 0:16:40SHE SNIFFS ..and sweet-smelling Hamish!"

0:16:43 > 0:16:46Hamish's friends were really kind.

0:16:46 > 0:16:49Hamish had a place for all of his sticky toffees.

0:16:49 > 0:16:53But I wonder what he did with all of the sweet wrappers.

0:16:53 > 0:16:56I hope he either put them in the bin,

0:16:56 > 0:16:59or better still, saved them to make something.

0:16:59 > 0:17:04And I'm gonna have a go at making something out of sweet wrappers.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06I'm gonna make a shiny fish.

0:17:06 > 0:17:09Now, to start off, I've got a piece of card here.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11It can be any colour you like.

0:17:11 > 0:17:17So, we need a fish's body. So I'm gonna draw around a butter carton.

0:17:17 > 0:17:20Place that upside down like that,

0:17:20 > 0:17:26and then just carefully draw all around it with a pen or a pencil.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29I'm using a pencil here today. That's it.

0:17:29 > 0:17:32Keep it steady. There. Perfect.

0:17:32 > 0:17:38And now take some scissors and very carefully cut the body out.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41You may need to get some help if you're using scissors.

0:17:41 > 0:17:46It can be a bit tricky. Always cut away from your hand.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49Take your time as you go around. That's it.

0:17:51 > 0:17:53All the way around.

0:17:54 > 0:17:56Nearly there.

0:17:58 > 0:18:01There. Right. So, that's our fish's body.

0:18:01 > 0:18:04It looks a bit dull at the moment, doesn't it?

0:18:04 > 0:18:06I think it needs to be a bit shiny,

0:18:06 > 0:18:10so I've got some lovely shiny foil here.

0:18:10 > 0:18:13I'm just going to tear off a strip, like that.

0:18:13 > 0:18:15Turn it upside down.

0:18:15 > 0:18:20I'm gonna place this piece of card on the top, and then what we do is

0:18:20 > 0:18:26we just wrap the foil all the way around the body like that,

0:18:26 > 0:18:32and then just give it a good push. It'll stay nice and secure. There!

0:18:32 > 0:18:38That's better! Now this is where my shiny sweet wrappers come in.

0:18:38 > 0:18:43I've got a bowl of them here. Hmm, and they're all empty as well.

0:18:43 > 0:18:48I wonder who's eaten all of the toffees. I think it was Tamba.

0:18:48 > 0:18:52Now, we're gonna start with some fish fins.

0:18:52 > 0:18:58I'm gonna use a green one for this. Just pinch the end of the wrapper

0:18:58 > 0:19:03and just give it a twist and then take a piece of sticky tape...

0:19:03 > 0:19:05I'm just gonna tape that down...

0:19:08 > 0:19:10..to the body, like that. There.

0:19:10 > 0:19:15Oh, I think we need another piece of tape to hold it down. There.

0:19:15 > 0:19:19And then I'm gonna use a pink wrapper this time.

0:19:19 > 0:19:22Another little twist.

0:19:22 > 0:19:29Another piece of sticky tape. Oh, it's looking lovely and shiny.

0:19:29 > 0:19:32I think we need one more wrapper.

0:19:32 > 0:19:34How about a blue one this time?

0:19:36 > 0:19:39So, crunch it up with a little twist at the end.

0:19:40 > 0:19:42More tape.

0:19:42 > 0:19:45Then stick that down with the others.

0:19:45 > 0:19:50There. And that makes a lovely tailfin for our fish, doesn't it?

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Now, what else do we need?

0:19:52 > 0:19:57Well, I think we need another fin in the middle here. So...

0:19:57 > 0:19:59turn the fish around this way up.

0:19:59 > 0:20:02I'm gonna use a lovely orange wrapper.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06That's it.

0:20:06 > 0:20:08Another twist. More sticky tape.

0:20:08 > 0:20:13Just pop that in the middle. There! Look at that!

0:20:13 > 0:20:15Those fins look great, don't they?

0:20:15 > 0:20:19Now, something's missing on our fish. What do you think it is?

0:20:19 > 0:20:23Our fish needs a...fishy face.

0:20:23 > 0:20:29Right. So, for the face, I'm gonna use a pen for the mouth.

0:20:29 > 0:20:31Big, happy, smiley mouth. There.

0:20:31 > 0:20:34It's a lovely colour, as well.

0:20:34 > 0:20:39And then for the fish eye, I'm gonna use another wrapper.

0:20:39 > 0:20:42I'm gonna use a green one. Now this time,

0:20:42 > 0:20:46really scrunch it up nice and tight into a small ball.

0:20:46 > 0:20:51And then one more piece of sticky tape to stick the eye down...

0:20:52 > 0:20:54..like that.

0:20:54 > 0:20:59There. Isn't that looking great? And to finish it off,

0:20:59 > 0:21:01you can hang it from somewhere.

0:21:01 > 0:21:04Now, I'm gonna use a piece of silver thread.

0:21:04 > 0:21:11If we turn the fish upside down and hang...

0:21:11 > 0:21:14the thread over the fish...

0:21:14 > 0:21:18Stick it down like that with a piece of tape.

0:21:18 > 0:21:24And then you can hang your fish from the ceiling or the wall.

0:21:24 > 0:21:26TINKLING

0:21:26 > 0:21:28Hey! There's the windows.

0:21:28 > 0:21:32And we can see how fish and other creatures move

0:21:32 > 0:21:35through one of the windows today.

0:21:35 > 0:21:39Let's swim over and find out.

0:21:39 > 0:21:41HE GLUGS

0:21:41 > 0:21:44How many windows?

0:21:44 > 0:21:47One, two, three.

0:21:47 > 0:21:51Round, square or arched?

0:21:51 > 0:21:53Which one will it be?

0:21:53 > 0:21:56TINKLING

0:21:56 > 0:21:58It's the round window.

0:22:00 > 0:22:03Look at the huge ocean.

0:22:03 > 0:22:05Miles and miles of water.

0:22:08 > 0:22:11We can't live without water.

0:22:12 > 0:22:15Nothing can live without water.

0:22:17 > 0:22:21These animals live IN the water.

0:22:21 > 0:22:25They couldn't survive unless there was lots of water.

0:22:25 > 0:22:31They have clever ways of moving around and looking very graceful.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38The octopus is a funny-looking thing

0:22:38 > 0:22:41with eight arms called tentacles

0:22:41 > 0:22:45that sway in the water searching for food.

0:22:45 > 0:22:50It scoots along the ocean floor, tentacles everywhere...

0:22:53 > 0:22:57..its big round body going first,

0:22:57 > 0:23:01and its big beady eyes on the lookout for danger.

0:23:06 > 0:23:12Big flatfish called rays scoot along the ocean floor, as well.

0:23:12 > 0:23:17It looks like an underwater pancake, doesn't it?

0:23:19 > 0:23:22Its fins look more like wings, don't they?

0:23:26 > 0:23:32Look how its body moves in the water, gently bending its fins.

0:23:36 > 0:23:41One of my favourites in this underwater world is the jellyfish.

0:23:46 > 0:23:52It's rather unusual looking, but it swims beautifully.

0:23:56 > 0:24:01Look at this. It's a type of slug that lives in the sea.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04Isn't it a wonderful colour?

0:24:09 > 0:24:13It's called a Spanish dancer.

0:24:13 > 0:24:18It sways around a bit like a dancing lady, doesn't it?

0:24:26 > 0:24:30What's this big underwater creature with a large flat tail?

0:24:30 > 0:24:34People call them sea cows

0:24:34 > 0:24:38because they live in the sea and they eat grass.

0:24:38 > 0:24:42But they don't look anything like a cow, do they?!

0:24:57 > 0:25:03This fish is able to dart about really quickly in the water.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09It's a blue marlin with a long, pointy face,

0:25:09 > 0:25:12which looks sharp as a pin.

0:25:13 > 0:25:17The marlin is a good shape to swim fast.

0:25:19 > 0:25:21Look at it go!

0:25:21 > 0:25:26Whatever shape the animals are that live in the oceans and seas,

0:25:26 > 0:25:30big or small, round or flat, fins or flippers,

0:25:30 > 0:25:34they're all very at home underwater.

0:25:34 > 0:25:37Hey, did you notice

0:25:37 > 0:25:42that sometimes fish can swim very slowly in the water?

0:25:42 > 0:25:44HE GLUGS SLOWLY

0:25:44 > 0:25:49And then suddenly they can swim very fast!

0:25:49 > 0:25:55FAST GLUGGING I can move slowly

0:25:55 > 0:25:59and get faster and faster

0:25:59 > 0:26:01and faster!
