0:01:43 > 0:01:46So we've got a totally packed show for you today,

0:01:46 > 0:01:49but first, let's find out a little bit about our home for today.

0:01:49 > 0:01:53Yes, so here's the Who Let The Dogs Out And About guide to Bristol.

0:01:59 > 0:02:01Today, we're in the fair city of Bristol.

0:02:01 > 0:02:03Bristol stands on the River Avon,

0:02:03 > 0:02:05which flows into the Bristol Channel.

0:02:05 > 0:02:10One of the most famous Bristolians is Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

0:02:10 > 0:02:13He designed the Clifton Suspension Bridge.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16It is 75 metres above the water.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20That is the same as 450 Chihuahuas standing on top of each other.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22Imagine!

0:02:22 > 0:02:25Bristol is famous for pirates, like Blackbeard.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28He would go into battle with pistols strapped to his chest

0:02:28 > 0:02:31and smoke bombs in his hair and beard.

0:02:31 > 0:02:32Pretty scary.

0:02:34 > 0:02:37One of the most famous movie-star dogs in the world

0:02:37 > 0:02:39comes from Bristol.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Beady-eyed beagle Gromit, from Wallace & Gromit.

0:02:42 > 0:02:46Pity he's made of clay, or we could have had him in the show.

0:02:48 > 0:02:49And that was Bristol.

0:02:51 > 0:02:54And now, over to Claire and Nelly for Trick Time.

0:02:58 > 0:03:00So today's trick is "crawl"

0:03:00 > 0:03:03and I have Nelly here to show you what that should look like.

0:03:03 > 0:03:05- OK, Nelly, lie down. - Dogs don't crawl!

0:03:05 > 0:03:08They walk, run and chase their tails!

0:03:08 > 0:03:10Crawl.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13Crawl. What a good girl.

0:03:15 > 0:03:18Amazing. Nelly is a wonder dog! What a performer.

0:03:20 > 0:03:23And our three young trainers are going to teach their dogs

0:03:23 > 0:03:24to do that before the end of the show.

0:03:24 > 0:03:29- We've got Amber, here. Hi, Amber. - Hello.- And you've got a Patterdale.

0:03:29 > 0:03:34- What's his name?- Smudge.- She's a girl, actually.- Yeah, she's a girl.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37- What does she like best in the whole world?- Feet.- Feet?

0:03:37 > 0:03:40- Yeah, she loves smelly feet. - But not really smelly feet?

0:03:40 > 0:03:43- No, not really smelly, but a bit smelly.- A bit smelly.

0:03:43 > 0:03:46Nicole, you've got a lovely Newfoundland. What's her name?

0:03:46 > 0:03:50- Cooper.- She's lovely. What do you and Cooper like to do together?

0:03:50 > 0:03:53Um, well, every weekend, we usually go to dog shows.

0:03:53 > 0:03:55And you can qualify for Crufts.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57And did you qualify for Crufts?

0:03:57 > 0:04:00Yes, so me and Cooper have qualified three times.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02Wow, that's impressive. Well done.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05Over here, we've got Katie and a cockerpoo. What's her name?

0:04:05 > 0:04:07- Daisy.- That's a sweet name.

0:04:07 > 0:04:10Do you and Daisy like to learn tricks?

0:04:10 > 0:04:12- Yeah.- How many tricks do you know, do you reckon?

0:04:12 > 0:04:16Quite a few. We can do roll over, speak and weave.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19That's pretty good. Do you think she'll speak for us?

0:04:19 > 0:04:20DAISY YAPS

0:04:20 > 0:04:22Oh, that's very good.

0:04:22 > 0:04:24APPLAUSE

0:04:24 > 0:04:27OK, so today's trick, as you know, is crawl.

0:04:27 > 0:04:31It's actually very easy to teach, Nelly here is going to show us.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33Do all of your dogs know how to lie down?

0:04:33 > 0:04:35Yes, brilliant.

0:04:35 > 0:04:37So you put your dog into lie down, like this,

0:04:37 > 0:04:40and the first thing you need to do is take your treat

0:04:40 > 0:04:43and put it down just so your dog just can't reach it and...

0:04:43 > 0:04:46see Nelly's feet moving just a little bit?

0:04:46 > 0:04:50So the next step is getting her to go a little further and,

0:04:50 > 0:04:53as she does it, as she moves along the ground, you say, "Crawl.

0:04:53 > 0:04:57"Good girl." Good girl, Nelly.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01Step three is the treat a little bit further away. Like this.

0:05:01 > 0:05:06So the dog stays down... Crawl. Crawl. Crawl. Good girl!

0:05:06 > 0:05:09OK, do you all think you know what you're doing?

0:05:09 > 0:05:10Come here, Nelly.

0:05:10 > 0:05:11Yep.

0:05:11 > 0:05:15OK, guys, I think you're all ready to go, so get practising.

0:05:15 > 0:05:18We'll come back later to see how they are getting on,

0:05:18 > 0:05:20but give them a round of applause.

0:05:20 > 0:05:21CLAPPING AND CHEERING

0:05:24 > 0:05:27Thank you, Claire - dog trainer extraordinaire.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29Wow, you're a poet. She didn't know it.

0:05:29 > 0:05:32Now, Kate here recently visited a diving event.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Now, it wasn't the humans doing the diving.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36Oh, no, it was the dogs making a splash.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41I'm looking for dock-diving dogs. Where could they be?

0:06:00 > 0:06:01Found it!

0:06:01 > 0:06:03Dock-diving is a craze that is sweeping the States

0:06:03 > 0:06:06and has just hit our shores with a splash.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08We're going to see some of Britain's best dogs

0:06:08 > 0:06:09diving off a dock.

0:06:17 > 0:06:20I'm here with Brandon, who's organised this whole event.

0:06:20 > 0:06:21Brandon, what is dock-diving?

0:06:21 > 0:06:24Dock-diving is three separate sports.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26We have a distance-jumping sport, a height-jumping sport

0:06:26 > 0:06:29and a speed sport, all for canines.

0:06:31 > 0:06:33So there are usually three different events,

0:06:33 > 0:06:35but today, we're focusing on two.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38The long jump - that's how far the dog jumps from the dock -

0:06:38 > 0:06:41and the speed retrieve, where dogs are timed

0:06:41 > 0:06:43on how quickly they return a float to their trainer.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46It's a bit like Fetch, except it's in water.

0:06:46 > 0:06:50So it's been huge in the States, you've decided to bring it here.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53- How are people enjoying it? - It's starting to catch on nicely.

0:06:53 > 0:06:56We're on our fourth year now and have built a base of competitors

0:06:56 > 0:06:59and it seems like somebody new who comes out to every event

0:06:59 > 0:07:02likes it so much, they keep coming back.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05So let's talk stats. Who's been the furthest jumper?

0:07:05 > 0:07:07Furthest is a Golden Retriever named Oscar.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10He's four years old, he jumped 24 feet, five inches -

0:07:10 > 0:07:13- the national record here. - Have any dogs shocked you?

0:07:13 > 0:07:15You thought, "That won't do very well,"

0:07:15 > 0:07:17and then suddenly, it breaks the record?

0:07:17 > 0:07:20I've seen a Jack Russell terrier from Ontario, Canada,

0:07:20 > 0:07:21- jump 26 feet, eight inches. - Wow.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24I have seen a Teacup Chihuahua jump four feet.

0:07:24 > 0:07:27I've seen Dutch hounds, wiener dogs, jump four feet, two inches.

0:07:27 > 0:07:31- So a new surprise every day for you. - It is. I still love it.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38Now it's time for the last round of the distance event.

0:07:38 > 0:07:40Let's see who's made it to the final.

0:07:40 > 0:07:43BRANDON ON PA: Keep those hands together.

0:07:43 > 0:07:44Let's welcome the first team.

0:07:44 > 0:07:48This is Emma, with her German Shepherd, Diesel.

0:07:51 > 0:07:52Diesel, don't do this to us now.

0:07:52 > 0:07:54We know Diesel jumps out into the water.

0:07:54 > 0:07:59- But sometimes dogs will be dogs. - Oh, no, he's not going to jump!

0:07:59 > 0:08:03- Ten seconds.- Come on, Diesel!

0:08:04 > 0:08:10Five, four, three, two, one.

0:08:12 > 0:08:17And the clock is going to expire on Diesel, folks, oh, no!

0:08:17 > 0:08:19Better luck next time, Diesel.

0:08:20 > 0:08:22Let's see how Anne and Digger get on.

0:08:22 > 0:08:24Threw it out and here we go...

0:08:25 > 0:08:28Wow, he just flew off that dock! Look at him go.

0:08:36 > 0:08:40That jump, a very solid jump. Digger out to 16 feet, seven inches.

0:08:40 > 0:08:44Well done, that's 4.88 metres for Digger.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46Next up, Sarah and Harry.

0:08:46 > 0:08:49She has the dog at the back and will call the dog down.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52- Throw it in front of his nose. - Watch out, folks!

0:08:55 > 0:08:57Just like that.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00Whoa, that was one ginormous splash!

0:09:05 > 0:09:07That's even further than Digger.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10Let's put our hands together for the farthest-jumping dog...

0:09:10 > 0:09:12Next up, it's Oscar.

0:09:12 > 0:09:14Now, this should be good - Oscar is the current champ,

0:09:14 > 0:09:18but can he set a new British record here today?

0:09:18 > 0:09:19Look at that focus.

0:09:24 > 0:09:25Wow, that looked far.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32Amazing! It's like watching a flying dog.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34One more replay, folks,

0:09:34 > 0:09:37and I will have the official score for you out here.

0:09:37 > 0:09:42- How about a new national record? 24 feet, nine inches!- He's done it!

0:09:42 > 0:09:46A new British record of seven metres, 32 centimetres.

0:09:46 > 0:09:48Well done, Oscar.

0:09:48 > 0:09:52I'm here with Oscar, Jonathan and Erin.

0:09:52 > 0:09:54What would be your top tip for anyone

0:09:54 > 0:09:56who wants to get into dock-diving?

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Well, as long as the dog really enjoys water and chasing,

0:09:59 > 0:10:03if it's a case of trying to get them to have enough speed

0:10:03 > 0:10:07approaching the end of the dock, then also throwing any toy

0:10:07 > 0:10:10or whatever you throw, just to give it the right trajectory.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13Let's have a look at his rosette. Where is it? Brilliant.

0:10:13 > 0:10:15Well done, Oscar, congratulations.

0:10:17 > 0:10:18Still to come -

0:10:18 > 0:10:20three brave souls take on

0:10:20 > 0:10:22the Who Let The Dogs Out And About time-trial.

0:10:22 > 0:10:26We'll find out what Ashleigh and Pudsey really get up to at home.

0:10:26 > 0:10:29Claire's back at the Trick Time area

0:10:29 > 0:10:32to see how today's young trainers are getting on.

0:10:32 > 0:10:36And Doctor Scott and his doggy best friend Dave try out a new sport.

0:10:36 > 0:10:38But first up, it's Doctor Scott's Corner.

0:10:40 > 0:10:42Welcome to Doctor Scott's Corner.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44Today, we're talking all about parasites.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47Parasites are some nasty little creatures that can live in

0:10:47 > 0:10:49and on your dog.

0:10:49 > 0:10:50You might not know they're there,

0:10:50 > 0:10:52but they can make your dog quite unwell.

0:10:52 > 0:10:56So what I've done is assemble some crack parasite investigators.

0:10:56 > 0:10:59They're going to help us unlock some of the secrets

0:10:59 > 0:11:02around the UK's most common doggy parasites.

0:11:02 > 0:11:07So, hi, Finlay and Fraser. You guys have got dogs. What are their names?

0:11:07 > 0:11:09- Maisy. - And what's your dog's name?- Pixie.

0:11:09 > 0:11:12- And what kind of dogs are they? - Pugalier.- Right.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15- Boston terrier with a bit of pug in her.- OK.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18You know your dogs get lots and lots of parasites in them.

0:11:18 > 0:11:20So let's start with this nasty little creature.

0:11:20 > 0:11:24Look at that, everyone. Urghh! See that?

0:11:24 > 0:11:26That can live in your dog, isn't that disgusting?

0:11:26 > 0:11:30- OK, so, guys, what do you think that is?- Tapeworm.- Oh, he's off the mark.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33Round of applause for Fraser! Straight away!

0:11:33 > 0:11:37That is a tapeworm. Now, I've got a really big picture of it there.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40Assistant Number One, can you hold that up for us?

0:11:40 > 0:11:42Look at that disgusting thing.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44It's the one that can live in fleas,

0:11:44 > 0:11:47so your dog can pick that up by chewing fleas and swallowing them.

0:11:47 > 0:11:50You can see the top, it's got big mouth parts.

0:11:50 > 0:11:54They've got big teeth there that grapple on to your dog's intestine,

0:11:54 > 0:11:57and then suckers around the outside that hold on to the intestine.

0:11:57 > 0:12:01These guys, the flea tapeworm, live and grow to about half a metre,

0:12:01 > 0:12:05but some species of tapeworm can grow five metres long.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07Inside your dog. Isn't that gross?

0:12:07 > 0:12:10So the symptoms you might look for in your dogs would be

0:12:10 > 0:12:13anything from scooting, where they sit on sit on the ground

0:12:13 > 0:12:15and do a dance, rub their bottom.

0:12:15 > 0:12:18Or they might just be licking a bit more than normal at the back end.

0:12:18 > 0:12:23That's tapeworm. Right, what do we think is in here, guys?

0:12:23 > 0:12:27- What does that look like? - Snails and slugs.

0:12:27 > 0:12:29They carry a horrible parasite called lung worm.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32So Assistant Number Two, if you can show us that picture.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34Look at that horrible thing.

0:12:34 > 0:12:37That's called a lung worm. Urrgh!

0:12:37 > 0:12:40Now what happens is, a slug or snail can be eaten by a young dog -

0:12:40 > 0:12:43puppies tend to like to eat slugs. Older dogs are a bit smarter.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46Now, the things you might notice if your dog has lung worm

0:12:46 > 0:12:48is they might cough.

0:12:48 > 0:12:52They can even cough up blood and they can be really quite unwell.

0:12:52 > 0:12:54Or they're tiring after a walk, they're quieter

0:12:54 > 0:12:56and slower than normal.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58So keep an eye out for lung worm.

0:12:58 > 0:13:02Right, boys, so let's start talking about some external parasites.

0:13:02 > 0:13:04Parasites that are on the outside of your dog.

0:13:04 > 0:13:07- What do you think those little guys are?- Fleas?

0:13:07 > 0:13:12Yes, that's right, fleas. So, what do you think fleas eat?

0:13:12 > 0:13:14- Blood.- Blood, that's right.

0:13:14 > 0:13:16Fleas are really annoying parasites for your dog

0:13:16 > 0:13:18and one you probably know a lot about.

0:13:18 > 0:13:22We've got a great picture of them there from Assistant Number Three.

0:13:22 > 0:13:26Can you see the size of that flea's legs?

0:13:26 > 0:13:29It can jump 200 times its own height.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32So when you're in the park, or maybe your garden,

0:13:32 > 0:13:35they then jump on your dog and can live on there.

0:13:35 > 0:13:38When the females finish sucking blood, they then lay eggs.

0:13:38 > 0:13:41Those can then drop off into your carpet,

0:13:41 > 0:13:44so it's an insect that normally you will notice on your dog,

0:13:44 > 0:13:47because your dog will be showing symptoms of chewing,

0:13:47 > 0:13:49biting at themselves, and also they can

0:13:49 > 0:13:53get some quite severe skin diseases called flea allergy dermatitis.

0:13:53 > 0:13:56Right, last but not least, we have some of these.

0:13:56 > 0:13:57Now, can you see those?

0:13:57 > 0:14:01Tiny little things at the moment, can you see what those are?

0:14:01 > 0:14:02What do you think that might be?

0:14:04 > 0:14:07Any idea? Let's have a look at the picture and see.

0:14:07 > 0:14:11- Assistant Number Four. Shout out if you know what that is?- Ticks!

0:14:11 > 0:14:13There's some bright sparks in the audience.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15Very good. That is a tick.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17You can see those horrible, large mouth parts

0:14:17 > 0:14:19that bite really, really hard.

0:14:19 > 0:14:22Your dog will know when it's been bitten

0:14:22 > 0:14:26and will actually squeak out. They bite hard and they drink blood.

0:14:26 > 0:14:27These guys are amazing.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31When the females actually attach to your dog, when they start drinking,

0:14:31 > 0:14:35they can get to 100 times their original weight,

0:14:35 > 0:14:39so that's like me turning into a Bull Elephant just after lunch.

0:14:39 > 0:14:40So it's quite a lot to eat.

0:14:40 > 0:14:43The worst thing about ticks is that they can bite really hard,

0:14:43 > 0:14:47and they carry lots of nasty diseases, like tick fever.

0:14:47 > 0:14:50Boys, that's parasites. What do you think?

0:14:50 > 0:14:52Um, they're disgusting, really.

0:14:52 > 0:14:54They are disgusting.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57My top tip this week is that parasites can really

0:14:57 > 0:15:00affect your dog quite badly, so be vigilant and work

0:15:00 > 0:15:03with your vet to make sure your dog is healthy and parasite-free.

0:15:03 > 0:15:06For more information on parasites, check out our website.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12Thanks, Scott. And whilst you're at the website,

0:15:12 > 0:15:15you might want this week's Bark Mania code. And I happen to have it.

0:15:15 > 0:15:19It is bone, star, biscuits, woof.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21Grab a pen, write it down.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24One more time, bone, star, biscuits, woof.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27You can use that code to unlock something pretty cool

0:15:27 > 0:15:29in the game Barkmania. But who knows what it is?

0:15:29 > 0:15:32You'll just have to go to the CBBC website to find out.

0:15:32 > 0:15:34Right now, it's Ask Ashleigh.

0:15:42 > 0:15:46How did you get Pudsey to start dancing?

0:15:46 > 0:15:48Well, when I was eight,

0:15:48 > 0:15:51I joined something called the Young Kennel Club and I competed

0:15:51 > 0:15:56in agility, obedience, and many other activities with my dogs.

0:15:56 > 0:15:58And then, about three years ago,

0:15:58 > 0:16:01the Young Kennel Club started something called Heelwork to Music,

0:16:01 > 0:16:03Canine Freestyle, and me and Pudsey

0:16:03 > 0:16:06joined straightaway and we never looked back.

0:16:07 > 0:16:09My question to Ashleigh is,

0:16:09 > 0:16:12what's the hardest trick which you've taught to Pudsey?

0:16:12 > 0:16:18Sometimes the most simple tricks are the hardest ones to teach.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21For example, when Pudsey puts his paw over his face,

0:16:21 > 0:16:25that took quite a long time to actually teach him.

0:16:25 > 0:16:29And then, I would also say Pudsey walking on his back legs, as well.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32My question to Ashleigh and Pudsey is what's the most expensive

0:16:32 > 0:16:34thing you've bought for Pudsey?

0:16:34 > 0:16:37Well, we've been so busy since Britain's Got Talent,

0:16:37 > 0:16:39we haven't had much time to go shopping,

0:16:39 > 0:16:41but I did buy him a buggy,

0:16:41 > 0:16:44so if we're in really busy places,

0:16:44 > 0:16:48he can hop in there, have his own personal space and go to sleep.

0:16:49 > 0:16:51My question to Ashleigh is,

0:16:51 > 0:16:54what treats did you use to train Pudsey?

0:16:54 > 0:16:56I try and vary my treats,

0:16:56 > 0:16:59just because I don't want Pudsey getting bored

0:16:59 > 0:17:00of the same old treats.

0:17:00 > 0:17:03So, sometimes I use normal dog treats,

0:17:03 > 0:17:05other times I use ham,

0:17:05 > 0:17:08chicken, sausage, lots and lots of different things.

0:17:11 > 0:17:15CHEERING

0:17:15 > 0:17:18On this show, we have the most fantastic dog display teams,

0:17:18 > 0:17:20and today, we've got the Tailwagger Dog Club.

0:17:20 > 0:17:23And, with me, I've got Angela and Kiwi, here.

0:17:23 > 0:17:26Angela, there's all these dogs. How many do you have?

0:17:26 > 0:17:28With us today we have 18.

0:17:28 > 0:17:31We've got 40 in total in the full team.

0:17:31 > 0:17:33- Tell me a little bit about the dogs that you have with you today.- OK.

0:17:33 > 0:17:35They're all pet dogs.

0:17:35 > 0:17:38They all live in houses with their handlers and everything.

0:17:38 > 0:17:41And you've got Kiwi here. Tell me a bit about Kiwi.

0:17:41 > 0:17:44- Kiwi's blind.- She is, yes. She was blind at two weeks old.

0:17:44 > 0:17:47And most people think that disabled dogs might even be put down,

0:17:47 > 0:17:49but that's not the case, is it?

0:17:49 > 0:17:50Not at all.

0:17:50 > 0:17:54Kiwi takes a full part in the team. She's eight years old, now,

0:17:54 > 0:17:58she's been to Crufts, she's been in display teams in Crufts

0:17:58 > 0:18:01and she's done a Good Citizen Gold Award.

0:18:01 > 0:18:03- Brilliant. Are you guys ready to go? - We are, yes.

0:18:03 > 0:18:07- Brilliant. Let's get on with it. - Come on, Kiwi dog! Come on!

0:18:07 > 0:18:09ANNOUNCER: So, the Tailwaggers Display Team.

0:18:09 > 0:18:11Now, this could get interesting.

0:18:11 > 0:18:13Tails and dogs. What could be simpler?

0:18:13 > 0:18:16It's a doggy game all about tidying up.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18We have four dogs, lots of soft toys

0:18:18 > 0:18:20and four washing-up bowls.

0:18:20 > 0:18:23I wonder if they've been trained to do the washing-up, too?

0:18:27 > 0:18:29They made quick work of that.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31CHEERING

0:18:33 > 0:18:37What's all this? Oh, of course. It's musical chairs with dogs.

0:18:37 > 0:18:41Yeah, why not. Four teams, three chairs and three mats.

0:18:41 > 0:18:45When the music stops, these clever dogs must sit on a mat

0:18:45 > 0:18:49and only then can their owner race in to find a chair.

0:18:49 > 0:18:51MUSIC STOPS

0:18:55 > 0:18:57- AUDIENCE:- Aww!

0:18:57 > 0:18:59APPLAUSE

0:18:59 > 0:19:00First out, it's Pippin.

0:19:00 > 0:19:03Well, I think he's more interested in his next treat.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06# I can't believe that Every day and every night

0:19:06 > 0:19:10# It's getting better With you out of my life

0:19:10 > 0:19:14# It's like I flicked a switch And now I'm feeling good

0:19:14 > 0:19:17# No way to stop it, Now you wish that you could

0:19:17 > 0:19:18# When the...

0:19:18 > 0:19:19MUSIC STOPS

0:19:22 > 0:19:23- AUDIENCE:- Aww!

0:19:32 > 0:19:35Wait!

0:19:35 > 0:19:37APPLAUSE

0:19:40 > 0:19:44Well, Cassie is out, so it's down to Miller and Fern to battle it out.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47Concentrate, dogs. Keep your ears on the music.

0:20:43 > 0:20:45Now, this is my favourite bit.

0:20:48 > 0:20:50Keep your eyes on the boss and cross those legs.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53That must be pretty tricky with four legs.

0:20:53 > 0:20:56Hang on, what's he doing?

0:20:58 > 0:21:01OK, it's not quite Riverdance,

0:21:01 > 0:21:02but, with a little more practice,

0:21:11 > 0:21:15Fantastic! Let's hear it for the Tailwaggers Display Team!

0:21:19 > 0:21:22Those dogs look like they're having so much fun. But, remember, guys,

0:21:22 > 0:21:25The tidy up game is just a game and it's still your responsibility to

0:21:25 > 0:21:27clean up your bedroom, not your dog's.

0:21:27 > 0:21:29The doc has spoken and he's serious.

0:21:29 > 0:21:32Look, he's even got his serious face on. A bit scary.

0:23:57 > 0:23:58GEORGE GROWLS

0:24:00 > 0:24:04Oh, my. Aren't you one of those evil duck chaps I see on the TV?

0:24:09 > 0:24:11Still, mustn't grumble.

0:24:13 > 0:24:17WHY?! WHY ME?!

0:24:17 > 0:24:22I'm homeless, jobless, bread-less!

0:24:35 > 0:24:39Of course! It wouldn't be fair, otherwise.

0:24:39 > 0:24:43I must insist on you not being evil, though.

0:24:43 > 0:24:46Don't worry. Look where being evil's got me.

0:24:46 > 0:24:49I'm going to turn over a new leaf. I promise.

0:24:49 > 0:24:51- Oh!- Hmmm...

0:25:39 > 0:25:41I've forgotten.

0:25:42 > 0:25:46I'd ask Wilbur, but he's out testing my new gutter-cleaning suit.

0:25:48 > 0:25:50Hahahaha!

0:28:31 > 0:28:32EVIL LAUGH

0:28:34 > 0:28:38Well done, Wilbur. Our plan worked perfectly.

0:28:38 > 0:28:42- Plan? What plan?- The one where I pretend to throw you out

0:28:42 > 0:28:45because I knew you'd do something clever like this!

0:28:45 > 0:28:48Wow, that is a stretch, even for you.

0:28:48 > 0:28:50Wilbur isn't going to believe that.

0:28:50 > 0:28:53You called me useless!

0:28:54 > 0:28:55Clueless!

0:31:40 > 0:31:42Love you, Mummy.

0:31:47 > 0:31:50Well, it's a shame Wilbur didn't work out.

0:31:50 > 0:31:53I did enjoy having a duck assistant.

0:31:53 > 0:31:54Don't worry, Professor!

0:31:54 > 0:31:57If a duck assistant is what you want,

0:31:57 > 0:31:59a duck assistant is what you shall have.

0:31:59 > 0:32:02Quack-quack-quack! Quack-quack! Quack-quack-quack!

0:32:02 > 0:32:03Oh.

0:32:03 > 0:32:06Quack-quack. Am I ducky enough yet?

0:32:52 > 0:32:54What have you been eating?

0:33:08 > 0:33:11We're back at the Trick Time area to see how our trainers are getting on

0:33:11 > 0:33:13teaching their dogs how to crawl.

0:33:13 > 0:33:15It should look like this.

0:33:15 > 0:33:17Sot. Lie down. Crawl.

0:33:17 > 0:33:21Crawl. Crawl. What a good girl.

0:33:21 > 0:33:22Come here.

0:33:22 > 0:33:24APPLAUSE

0:33:24 > 0:33:28'Lily makes it look so easy. But is it?'

0:33:29 > 0:33:33'First up, Smudge. I hope she's been practising.'

0:33:33 > 0:33:36Have you tried other treats with him, Amber?

0:33:36 > 0:33:37Yeah, I'll see what I've got.

0:33:41 > 0:33:46She was using Pepperami, but now we're using cheese.

0:33:46 > 0:33:48One paw, that's good!

0:33:48 > 0:33:49'Oh dear, poor Smudge.

0:33:49 > 0:33:52'I don't think she's quite getting the hang of this.

0:33:52 > 0:33:58'A little more practice required. Next, it's Cooper.'

0:33:58 > 0:33:59Get Cooper to lie down first.

0:33:59 > 0:34:03Lie down. Lie down.

0:34:06 > 0:34:10- Cooper, come here!- You're struggling to get Cooper to lie down,

0:34:10 > 0:34:12and that's the thing you're struggling with the most, you think?

0:34:12 > 0:34:16- Yes.- Practise lying down quite a lot and we'll take it from there.

0:34:16 > 0:34:18Good girl.

0:34:18 > 0:34:22'Cooper is a Newfoundland and they generally love the water.

0:34:22 > 0:34:24'Perhaps if she pretends to swim the front crawl

0:34:24 > 0:34:26'she might get on a little better.'

0:34:28 > 0:34:30'Finally, it's Daisy's turn.'

0:34:30 > 0:34:32Daisy!

0:34:35 > 0:34:38- She's doing really well! - APPLAUSE

0:34:38 > 0:34:40Very good. I think you need to move on to the next step now.

0:34:40 > 0:34:44You say "crawl" and she does that. Making sure you say "crawl".

0:34:44 > 0:34:46So when I come in next, see if you can have the treat

0:34:46 > 0:34:48a little bit further away from her nose.

0:34:48 > 0:34:51'Daisy, you are a natural. Top of the class!'

0:34:51 > 0:34:53APPLAUSE

0:34:53 > 0:34:57We'll be back later on in the show to see how these girls are doing.

0:34:57 > 0:34:59But here's what still to come on today's show.

0:35:00 > 0:35:05'We'll be back in Doctor Scott's Corner for some audience questions.

0:35:05 > 0:35:09'The brave souls take on the Who Let The Dogs Out time trial.

0:35:09 > 0:35:12'Claire's knowledge of Tibetan terriers

0:35:12 > 0:35:14'is put to the test in Challenge Claire.

0:35:14 > 0:35:19'And we'll be treated to the best of Bristol's catwalking canines.'

0:35:22 > 0:35:25Now as we mentioned earlier, we've got a secret game code

0:35:25 > 0:35:29to unlock something amazing in the online game Barkmania.

0:35:29 > 0:35:32So if you missed it the first time around, here it is again.

0:35:32 > 0:35:35It is bone, star, biscuits, woof.

0:35:35 > 0:35:36Write it down.

0:35:36 > 0:35:39It's bone, star, biscuits, woof.

0:35:39 > 0:35:41Remember, you can use that code

0:35:41 > 0:35:44to unlock something amazing in Barkmania.

0:35:44 > 0:35:46Right now, it's time to head to Doctor Scott's Corner

0:35:46 > 0:35:48for some audience questions.

0:35:52 > 0:35:55Thanks very much, Kate. Now, some questions to answer.

0:35:55 > 0:35:57- What's your name?- Alia.- Alia.

0:35:57 > 0:35:59- And what's your cute little Chihuahua's name?- Coco.

0:35:59 > 0:36:03- And what's your question? - Why do Chihuahuas always shake?

0:36:03 > 0:36:06Well, Chihuahuas always shake cos actually they've got quite thin fur

0:36:06 > 0:36:09and also quite thin skin. They don't have a huge amount of fat.

0:36:09 > 0:36:11So they do get quite cold from time to time.

0:36:11 > 0:36:14But also being a really little dog means they can get quite nervous,

0:36:14 > 0:36:17so the best thing to do is to socialise them really well

0:36:17 > 0:36:20- with other dogs and other people so they don't get nervous.- Thank you.

0:36:20 > 0:36:23Hello there. Just got a dog there. Hello, hello.

0:36:23 > 0:36:26- What's your name?- Corin. - Corin. And what's your question?

0:36:26 > 0:36:33When my dog's eating, there's a bit on the side that sticks out.

0:36:33 > 0:36:37We think it's his floating rib.

0:36:37 > 0:36:39Yes, it probably is his floating rib.

0:36:39 > 0:36:41He's a puppy. How old is he?

0:36:41 > 0:36:43- 17 weeks old.- About 17 weeks.

0:36:43 > 0:36:46When they're puppies, they eat really fast.

0:36:46 > 0:36:50So it will swell out their tummy and you'll see that rib pop out a bit.

0:36:50 > 0:36:53It's nothing to worry about, but feed him smaller meals

0:36:53 > 0:36:56more frequently so he doesn't get too full.

0:36:56 > 0:37:00- OK? Who's next? What's your name? - Catherine.- What's your dog's name?

0:37:00 > 0:37:03- Rosie.- Hello, Rosie. What's your question?

0:37:03 > 0:37:06Rosie, when she was younger, had her tooth knocked out

0:37:06 > 0:37:08and I was wondering if it could cause her any problems.

0:37:08 > 0:37:12It doesn't tend to be a problem. They've got a lot of teeth, 42.

0:37:12 > 0:37:14So to lose just one tooth isn't a problem.

0:37:14 > 0:37:16But I'd get your vet to look at it to make sure

0:37:16 > 0:37:19the root's still not in because that can be painful.

0:37:19 > 0:37:22But most of the time they're fine and can eat well.

0:37:22 > 0:37:25- Right, hello there. What's your name?- Dylan.

0:37:25 > 0:37:28- What's your beautiful dog's name? Hello, gorgeous!- Kizzy.- Kizzy.

0:37:28 > 0:37:30And what's your question?

0:37:30 > 0:37:33How can I stop Kizzy from eating stuff at the park?

0:37:33 > 0:37:37It's a nightmare when they do that, isn't it? Then you get the runs.

0:37:37 > 0:37:40It is very tough when dogs eat horrible things at the park.

0:37:40 > 0:37:43It's just something you need to train them out of.

0:37:43 > 0:37:46The best way is to carry treats, so rather than them

0:37:46 > 0:37:50being in the park and eating lots of things, they'll be looking to you

0:37:50 > 0:37:51for yummy food. Give that a go.

0:37:51 > 0:37:54Brilliant questions this week. Back to you, Kate.

0:37:54 > 0:38:00Now it's more from Dr Scott as he and his dog Dave get all athletic.

0:38:00 > 0:38:02Here's how they got on when they had a go at CaniX.

0:38:02 > 0:38:05Not sure what that is, but it sounds exciting.

0:38:05 > 0:38:09Forget Wimbledon, the Tour de France, the Olympics - boring!

0:38:09 > 0:38:11I've heard of a sport sweeping the nation

0:38:11 > 0:38:14that combines man, beast and the great outdoors.

0:38:14 > 0:38:17It's been called the fastest sport on six legs.

0:38:17 > 0:38:20Welcome to the wild world of CaniX.

0:38:20 > 0:38:24CaniX literally means canine cross-country running.

0:38:24 > 0:38:27These guys run with their dogs attached to an elasticated

0:38:27 > 0:38:30bungee rope through a course in the woods.

0:38:30 > 0:38:33If you can complete the course in the fastest time

0:38:33 > 0:38:36without getting lost, you could be CaniX champion.

0:38:36 > 0:38:38A bit like these guys.

0:39:04 > 0:39:07Hi, guys. I've just seen you in action, amazing stuff!

0:39:07 > 0:39:10What are you doing here in the Welsh countryside?

0:39:10 > 0:39:12We're training for the European Championships,

0:39:12 > 0:39:15ready to represent the United Kingdom.

0:39:15 > 0:39:16Awesome! Go, team GB!

0:39:16 > 0:39:20Tell me, how did you get into CaniX in the first place?

0:39:20 > 0:39:24I saw it at Crufts and thought that looks fun and I like running.

0:39:24 > 0:39:27Yes, and why do you love CaniX so much?

0:39:27 > 0:39:31It's good exercise for me and Ben and we both enjoy it.

0:39:31 > 0:39:34He looks like the kind of dog that needs a lot of exercise.

0:39:34 > 0:39:38Guys, well done. And good luck for the European Championships.

0:39:38 > 0:39:41A quick question, I fancy myself as a fitness fanatic.

0:39:41 > 0:39:44What do I need to do to be part of the CaniX Team GB?

0:39:44 > 0:39:48Get out of your old-man clothes and put on proper kit, like us.

0:39:48 > 0:39:51Hey, easy on the old-man stuff? Right, new kit.

0:39:51 > 0:39:54Stylish. OK, what else do I need?

0:39:54 > 0:39:56You need a harness and a bungee lead.

0:39:56 > 0:39:59Harness and a bungee cord, gotcha!

0:39:59 > 0:40:02That will come in handy when I'm falling behind.

0:40:02 > 0:40:05I still feel there's something missing. Ah!

0:40:05 > 0:40:08- Mm, chocolate, I need my energy! - ALL: No, you need a dog!

0:40:08 > 0:40:11Ah, Dave!

0:40:11 > 0:40:14Right, there you are, Dave. So, I'm suited and booted,

0:40:14 > 0:40:16I've got Dave, my English pointer,

0:40:16 > 0:40:20and I've had a little snack, so now am I ready for CaniX?

0:40:20 > 0:40:24- Almost. You just need to come this way.- All right. Yes, here we go.

0:40:25 > 0:40:28The dogs are ready and waiting,

0:40:28 > 0:40:29but it turns out I need

0:40:29 > 0:40:31a bit of light training before I get going.

0:40:31 > 0:40:33How hard can it be?

0:40:33 > 0:40:36Run to that tree and back and I want ten press-ups. Go!

0:40:38 > 0:40:41Quickly, do ten press-ups. Keep your back straight.

0:40:41 > 0:40:45- Look like you are enjoying it. - This is...not...easy.

0:40:52 > 0:40:53Yes, CaniX.

0:40:53 > 0:40:55Brilliant.

0:40:57 > 0:41:00Right, I'm at the starting blocks. I'm a bit nervous.

0:41:00 > 0:41:04I've got my regulation CBBC TV hat on, so, guys, any last words?

0:41:04 > 0:41:09- Good luck.- Right, brilliant. Can I get a 10-second head start?

0:41:09 > 0:41:12Three, two, one, go!

0:41:14 > 0:41:16Go on, boy, off you go.

0:41:16 > 0:41:19Good boy! Good boy, go, Dave!

0:41:21 > 0:41:22They're chasing me.

0:41:22 > 0:41:24Oh, there they go.

0:41:24 > 0:41:26Oh! Flying past.

0:41:26 > 0:41:29They are the professionals, oft they go.

0:41:29 > 0:41:33'Then, Team GB really started to pick up the pace.'

0:41:33 > 0:41:34Go on, Dave!

0:41:34 > 0:41:38'As I struggled to keep up and find my way through the woods.'

0:41:40 > 0:41:41Go on!

0:41:51 > 0:41:55'Scott, Lucy and Catherine made it back in great time.

0:41:55 > 0:41:57'But it wasn't so easy for me.'

0:41:57 > 0:41:59Dave, I can see the finish line.

0:41:59 > 0:42:00Come on, mate.

0:42:00 > 0:42:02'We finally completed the course,

0:42:02 > 0:42:06'but do CaniX Team GB really think we've got what it takes?

0:42:06 > 0:42:10We think you did great and thought we'd present you with this.

0:42:10 > 0:42:12Awesome! Look at that.

0:42:12 > 0:42:14And an Aussie flag.

0:42:14 > 0:42:17Dr Scott Miller and Dave the English pointer,

0:42:17 > 0:42:18honorary members of Team GB.

0:42:18 > 0:42:22With a bit of practice, I'm going to be awesome at this.

0:42:22 > 0:42:25- What do you guys reckon?- Yes!- Yes.

0:42:32 > 0:42:36- That looked fun, I'm jealous. - You should be, it was awesome.

0:42:36 > 0:42:40The great outdoors, there were dogs, chocolate medals, it was fantastic.

0:42:40 > 0:42:42You did well, but what happened in the woods?

0:42:42 > 0:42:44Well, a little embarrassing.

0:42:44 > 0:42:47Dave decided about 500 metres in to do a big poo.

0:42:47 > 0:42:51So I lost the other guys running and I had to ask directions

0:42:51 > 0:42:55and did the slowest CaniX run in the history of the world.

0:42:55 > 0:42:58- You did really well. - You're being very kind.

0:42:58 > 0:43:02And now for another doggie/human racing thing.

0:43:02 > 0:43:03It's Time Trial.

0:43:09 > 0:43:13Yes, I'm here standing by for the ultimate in dog agility.

0:43:13 > 0:43:17This is the Who Let The Dogs Out And About Time Trial.

0:43:17 > 0:43:20However, we don't have real dogs taking part.

0:43:20 > 0:43:24Instead we've got humans dressed as dogs.

0:43:24 > 0:43:27They'll be taking on the biggest time challenge

0:43:27 > 0:43:30in "humans dressed as dogs doing agility" history, ever.

0:43:30 > 0:43:35They'll take it in turns to run around our amazing agility course.

0:43:35 > 0:43:38The course - first up, the Poles of Peril.

0:43:38 > 0:43:41Competitors must weave their way through.

0:43:41 > 0:43:44Then the Seesaw of Sorrow.

0:43:44 > 0:43:47Getting over safely is trickier than it looks.

0:43:47 > 0:43:49Next, the Mat of Mayhem.

0:43:49 > 0:43:54Competitors must freestyle for three seconds over the Hurdles of Hurt.

0:43:54 > 0:43:56They're not high, but be careful.

0:43:56 > 0:43:58And finally, the Tunnel of Terror.

0:43:58 > 0:44:02But take the big bone with you or your time won't count.

0:44:02 > 0:44:06We will of course have our marshal keeping the official time.

0:44:06 > 0:44:08Hi there, Marshal. Are you ready?

0:44:08 > 0:44:10Brilliant. Take your places, please.

0:44:10 > 0:44:13First up, it's Alisa the Dalmatian.

0:44:13 > 0:44:16Could we have spotted the winner already?

0:44:16 > 0:44:19Alisa, take your place at the start.

0:44:19 > 0:44:22In three, two, one, go!

0:44:22 > 0:44:27And Alisa the Dalmatian is off with some nimble paw work.

0:44:27 > 0:44:30Look at her go, taking a few extra steps though,

0:44:30 > 0:44:32could it slow her down? Only time will tell.

0:44:32 > 0:44:34Over the Seesaw with ease.

0:44:34 > 0:44:38And she's doing a roll-over and doggy dance combo.

0:44:38 > 0:44:42I've never seen anything like it. Over the Hurdles of Hurt.

0:44:42 > 0:44:46Beautifully done. Pick up that bone and through the Tunnel of Terror.

0:44:46 > 0:44:50Now, Dalmatians were also called the plum pudding dog.

0:44:50 > 0:44:53I hope she hasn't eaten too many plum puddings

0:44:53 > 0:44:55as that could seriously slow her down.

0:44:55 > 0:44:57She's nearly out of the tunnel

0:44:57 > 0:45:00and she's across the line with 35.09 seconds.
