0:02:14 > 0:02:20Welcome to Brighton - the seaside city of the splendidly sunny south.

0:02:27 > 0:02:30Brighton is a top holiday destination.

0:02:30 > 0:02:32When the sun shines,

0:02:54 > 0:02:55Get it? Bright-on!

0:02:55 > 0:02:57So, that's Brighton.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06Now it's over to Trick Time with Claire and Nelly.

0:03:07 > 0:03:11Welcome to Trick Time. Today's trick is called Walk Backwards.

0:03:11 > 0:03:13If you don't know what that looks like,

0:03:13 > 0:03:16here's Ashleigh and Pudsey doing it.

0:03:16 > 0:03:17Thank you, Claire.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20Pudsey does actually walk backwards better on two legs than four,

0:03:20 > 0:03:24but I think that's a bit difficult to learn by the end of the show,

0:03:24 > 0:03:28so we're going to give it a go on all four legs. Walk, walk. Good boy.

0:03:28 > 0:03:32Walk, walk, walk, Well done. Good boy.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34Big good luck to all three of you.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Looks simple, but I'm going to find out if our trainers

0:03:38 > 0:03:40are going to be able to teach their dogs how to do it

0:03:40 > 0:03:41before the end of the show.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45First of all, Cassidy. You've a collie-cross here.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47Yeah, it's a collie-cross spaniel.

0:03:47 > 0:03:50- Brilliant. And what's his name? - His name's Dave.

0:03:50 > 0:03:55- Have you taught Dave many things? - He knows "sit", "kiss", "beg".

0:03:55 > 0:03:58- He knows "shake", he knows "change paw".- That's pretty good.

0:03:58 > 0:04:02Lydia. You've got a Cavalier King Charles spaniel.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04- Yeah.- Is it a girl or a boy?

0:04:04 > 0:04:08- She's a girl.- What's her name? - Jenny.- What's your best trick?

0:04:08 > 0:04:11- High-five.- Can we see it?

0:04:11 > 0:04:14High-five! Good girl.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16APPLAUSE

0:04:16 > 0:04:19And we've got Amelia at the end.

0:04:19 > 0:04:23- And you've got a Bichon Frise. - Yeah.- What's her name?- Cookie.

0:04:23 > 0:04:26- She's lovely. How old's Cookie? - She is two.- She's very sweet.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29Does Cookie know lots of tricks?

0:04:29 > 0:04:33- Er, a few.- What's her best trick? - She can dry her own paws.

0:04:33 > 0:04:36- That's pretty good. On the doormat? - No, a beanbag, actually.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38- On a beanbag?- Yeah.

0:04:38 > 0:04:43I'll take you through three steps to teach your dog how to walk backwards.

0:04:43 > 0:04:47You want to walk towards your dog. When it takes a step back, like that,

0:04:47 > 0:04:49say, "Good girl," and give her a treat.

0:04:49 > 0:04:52Step two, you want to get a few more steps from your dog

0:04:52 > 0:04:54and say, "Back up," when you're doing it.

0:04:54 > 0:04:57Back up, back up, back up. Good girl.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01- You reckon you can do it? - Yeah.- OK, guys, get started.

0:05:01 > 0:05:02I'm going to let these guys practise.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05We'll come back and see how they're doing later.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07I think they deserve a round of applause.

0:05:07 > 0:05:08APPLAUSE

0:05:11 > 0:05:13Thank you, Claire.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16Yes, we really do have the best dog trainers on this show. Fact.

0:05:16 > 0:05:19- And they make it look really easy, too.- I know. Great stuff.

0:05:19 > 0:05:22Now, we sent our resident action vet - yes, I mean you -

0:05:22 > 0:05:25off to find out about a remarkable group of kids

0:05:25 > 0:05:28who are learning to save lives with the help of their dogs.

0:05:28 > 0:05:32- What are you pointing at?- A bird. - Right. Take a look at this.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37These are amazing Newfoundlands.

0:05:37 > 0:05:39They are super life-saving dogs

0:05:39 > 0:05:42and it's safe to say they just love the water.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48I'm spending the day with the Newfoundland Friends -

0:05:48 > 0:05:51a charity who raise money for sick children

0:05:51 > 0:05:54by putting on displays of their life-saving skills.

0:05:54 > 0:05:56The dogs train every week at this Cotswold water park

0:05:56 > 0:05:58with their young dog trainers.

0:05:58 > 0:06:02It's a serious job, but the training looks like a lot of fun.

0:06:02 > 0:06:07- Hi, Ellie. Who is this very handsome boy here?- This is Ozzy.

0:06:07 > 0:06:12OK. Looks like all of his mates and your friends are there training away.

0:06:12 > 0:06:15He's quite keen to get in the water. Shall we let him go and have a swim?

0:06:15 > 0:06:19- OK.- Go on, mate. Off you go. Wow. He's keen.

0:06:19 > 0:06:23'Or maybe he was just keen to have a wee!'

0:06:23 > 0:06:26I've done a little bit of homework about Newfoundlands

0:06:26 > 0:06:29and it seems the hardest thing about working with humans and dogs

0:06:29 > 0:06:32is actually training the human, not training the dog.

0:06:32 > 0:06:35- Is that right?- Yeah, definitely. The dogs know what they're doing.

0:06:35 > 0:06:38You have to make it clear to people that they're not just massive dogs

0:06:38 > 0:06:41that can hold anything, they can be hurt.

0:06:41 > 0:06:44- They're not big furry surfboards.- No, you can't just jump on top of them.

0:06:44 > 0:06:48You might not know that I used to be a lifeguard back in Australia.

0:06:48 > 0:06:51But I certainly have never saved lives with dogs.

0:06:51 > 0:06:52So, what do you think? Am I up for it?

0:06:52 > 0:06:55- Do you think you could teach me how? - Yeah, I reckon.- Yeah?

0:06:56 > 0:07:00Originally from Canada, Newfoundlands are the perfect water dog.

0:07:00 > 0:07:04They have a thick, oily, waterproof coat and they have webbed feet,

0:07:04 > 0:07:06which means they're strong swimmers.

0:07:06 > 0:07:09They were first bred to work with fishermen to help pull in nets,

0:07:09 > 0:07:12but their skill as life-savers was soon recognised

0:07:12 > 0:07:14and now they're used all over the world.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17There are several amazing feats of rescue

0:07:17 > 0:07:19that have been recorded over the last 200 years,

0:07:19 > 0:07:22from saving people who have fallen in the water

0:07:22 > 0:07:25to rescuing whole boats of shipwrecked sailors.

0:07:28 > 0:07:32Right. I'll go and get changed.

0:07:32 > 0:07:34Right, I've got the outfit on.

0:07:34 > 0:07:37It's a little snug, but I'm ready for action.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40OK, I'm ready to go. What do I need to do?

0:07:40 > 0:07:43Before we can teach you, we need to have a demonstration.

0:07:43 > 0:07:44OK. So, what should I do?

0:07:44 > 0:07:49- Basically, head in that direction and start swimming.- Right. OK. Bye!

0:07:50 > 0:07:53So, this is it. My first time life-saving with a dog. I can't wait.

0:07:53 > 0:07:56Well, I'm in the middle of the lake, I'm wet,

0:07:56 > 0:07:58it's freezing and I'm just wondering

0:07:58 > 0:08:02if there'll be a Newfoundland swimming past at any moment

0:08:02 > 0:08:06just to come and save me. Cue the dog. Cue the dog!

0:08:11 > 0:08:14And here he is. Newfoundland to the rescue.

0:08:17 > 0:08:18Of all the dogs I've met,

0:08:18 > 0:08:22these guys are truly deserving of the name super-dog.

0:08:22 > 0:08:25Come on. Come on, Whiz.

0:08:25 > 0:08:26- Grab his ring.- OK.

0:08:26 > 0:08:30The ring is there for people in the water to grab and hold onto.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32- Lie on your back, feet up. - And luckily for me,

0:08:32 > 0:08:36there's a handy ring to hold onto while I'm being saved.

0:08:36 > 0:08:39Phwoar!

0:08:39 > 0:08:41Ellie and I are both trained lifeguards,

0:08:41 > 0:08:44but even we are working under supervision.

0:08:44 > 0:08:47Don't try this at home, guys, without the support of professionals.

0:08:47 > 0:08:52- That was absolutely amazing. He is so strong, isn't he?- Just a bit.

0:08:52 > 0:08:56Unbelievable. I haven't been formally introduced to my rescuer. Who is he?

0:08:56 > 0:09:00- This is Whiz.- How old is he?- He is eight now.- Wow.- He is a pro.

0:09:00 > 0:09:02I could see that you were chatting to him

0:09:02 > 0:09:04whilst you were rescuing me.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06Specifically, are there any commands that I need to know?

0:09:06 > 0:09:09- "Go", basically. - That's pretty simple!

0:09:09 > 0:09:13Simple, short and he knows it. So, just "go" and he should follow you.

0:09:13 > 0:09:16- That'll make him jump off the boat?- Yes.

0:09:16 > 0:09:18So, once I've said go and we've dived in,

0:09:18 > 0:09:20how do I get him to rescue the person?

0:09:20 > 0:09:23Basically, you just swim and he should follow you

0:09:23 > 0:09:25and then tell him to go "round", he'll swim round

0:09:25 > 0:09:28and then "boat", and he should go back to the boat.

0:09:28 > 0:09:32- The three commands are "go", "round" and "boat"?- Yes.- OK!

0:09:44 > 0:09:46Here it is. My big moment.

0:09:46 > 0:09:49I think my lifeguard training is all coming back to me.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52Go!

0:09:54 > 0:09:56First command done. I think I'm a natural at this.

0:09:56 > 0:09:58Come on, Whiz. Round.

0:09:58 > 0:10:01If you can grab the ring.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03Good boy. Good boy.

0:10:03 > 0:10:07Boat. Boat. Good boy!

0:10:07 > 0:10:09Come on, boy. Nearly there. Boat.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12Good boy!

0:10:16 > 0:10:20That was amazing! The Newfoundlands really are great swimmers

0:10:20 > 0:10:23And are so calm and at home in the water.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26There we go. I've rescued my first person with a dog.

0:10:29 > 0:10:34Time to get me and my newfound friends back to dry land. What a day!

0:10:36 > 0:10:40Well, it looks like I've found myself some newfound friends.

0:10:40 > 0:10:45These beasts are amazing lifesavers. Let's go and get warmed up.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47Come on, guys!

0:10:52 > 0:10:57Still to come, Dr Scott gives tips on the best things to feed your dog,

0:10:57 > 0:11:02we'll find out what Ashleigh and Pudsey really get up to at home,

0:11:02 > 0:11:06over at the display area, we have greyhounds doing agility,

0:11:06 > 0:11:11and Kate receives an invitation to the wedding of the year.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13But first, it's over to Dr Scott.

0:11:15 > 0:11:17Hello and welcome to Dr Scott's Corner

0:11:17 > 0:11:19where today we're talking all about dog nutrition.

0:11:19 > 0:11:21Now, nutrition is the science of

0:11:21 > 0:11:23compiling all the raw ingredients of a diet

0:11:23 > 0:11:25to make a really healthy one.

0:11:25 > 0:11:28Now, it's so important to get nutrition right in dogs,

0:11:28 > 0:11:31the reason being that dogs grow very, very quickly.

0:11:31 > 0:11:34As puppies, they grow about 12 times faster than a baby.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37Let's talk first of all about commercial diets.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40That's basically any food that you can buy.

0:11:40 > 0:11:42So let's have a look at the types you can get hold of.

0:11:42 > 0:11:44I always recommend dry foods.

0:11:44 > 0:11:48Most of the time when you're looking for dry foods, you want to look at

0:11:48 > 0:11:51the back of the labelling where it says "complete balanced diet".

0:11:51 > 0:11:53That means everything your dog could possibly need

0:11:53 > 0:11:54is present in the food.

0:11:54 > 0:11:57Dried foods are great, as it helps keep your dog's teeth clean,

0:11:57 > 0:12:00and you can leave it around the house and it won't go off.

0:12:00 > 0:12:02But it doesn't come in a huge amount of varieties,

0:12:02 > 0:12:05and a lot of dogs actually far prefer the wet food.

0:12:05 > 0:12:08Wet food comes in loads of different varieties.

0:12:08 > 0:12:11I've got rice and carrots and all sorts of different things.

0:12:11 > 0:12:14The unfortunate thing about it is, it does stick to the teeth,

0:12:14 > 0:12:16so it does speed dental disease up.

0:12:16 > 0:12:20Next thing we'll look at is puppy and breed-specific diets.

0:12:20 > 0:12:22Now, puppy diets are a really good idea.

0:12:22 > 0:12:24They have a lot of protein and energy,

0:12:24 > 0:12:26so when they're growing quickly,

0:12:26 > 0:12:29it provides everything they need in that one diet.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32As they grow, there's lots of breed-specific diets,

0:12:32 > 0:12:36so every different breed that's out there, they'll have a diet for.

0:12:36 > 0:12:39In this instance, this is for pugs, and it's been designed

0:12:39 > 0:12:41so that it makes it easy for them to eat.

0:12:41 > 0:12:44And then finally, we've got treats.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47The treats I really like are things that give your dog something to do.

0:12:47 > 0:12:50So they help to clean their teeth, like this toothbrush.

0:12:50 > 0:12:52Otherwise, you have things like rawhide,

0:12:52 > 0:12:55and look at this, guys. Pig's ear. Eurgh!

0:12:55 > 0:12:57It's even got hair still on it.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00These sort of things are great when you leave the house.

0:13:00 > 0:13:03They've got something to chew on, something to keep their interest.

0:13:03 > 0:13:07But you need to be careful of and avoid human foods.

0:13:07 > 0:13:11Things like crisps are really not good - loads of salt.

0:13:11 > 0:13:14And also chocolate. You probably know this already,

0:13:14 > 0:13:16but chocolate is quite toxic for dogs,

0:13:16 > 0:13:19and when given to them, it can have quite serious consequences.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21So make sure no chocolate for your dogs.

0:13:21 > 0:13:25Now, if you think that you're a conscientious dog owner

0:13:25 > 0:13:28and you think, "I fancy myself as a bit of a doggy chef,"

0:13:28 > 0:13:33then let's meet one over here. This is Chester. Hello, mate!

0:13:33 > 0:13:36- This is Michaela.- Hi.- You actually cook for dogs, for a living.

0:13:36 > 0:13:40Yes, I do. It started off with Chester.

0:13:40 > 0:13:44He was a puppy and he developed allergies to certain foods -

0:13:44 > 0:13:50beef, turkey, potatoes - so I really had no choice.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52I looked at the nutrition that dogs should have.

0:13:52 > 0:13:54I researched a lot of ingredients

0:13:54 > 0:13:58and I decided these are all the ingredients that dogs need.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00I love it. Lots of fresh foods. Apple and all sorts.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02You can cut them up a little bit

0:14:02 > 0:14:05into tiny bits and pieces and give them to dogs as treats.

0:14:05 > 0:14:08- They're good for their teeth. This is honey.- Honey?

0:14:08 > 0:14:09It's a natural sweetener.

0:14:09 > 0:14:11Human-grade ingredients, nothing bad in them.

0:14:11 > 0:14:15There's different kinds of treats, or cupcakes for dogs.

0:14:15 > 0:14:18- Or pup-cakes, maybe.- Yes, pup-cakes.

0:14:18 > 0:14:21There's bananas in there, that's really good for dogs, as well.

0:14:21 > 0:14:25- Sometimes I make foods like quiche. - Is that a quiche?- Yes.

0:14:25 > 0:14:29Quiche for dogs, everyone! Who would have known? That's amazing.

0:14:29 > 0:14:33Wonderful. I can see you've got quite a lovely-looking cake here with

0:14:33 > 0:14:35"Pudsey" written on. What's in that?

0:14:35 > 0:14:38Yes, that's a special treat. There's chicken in there, honey,

0:14:38 > 0:14:40cream cheese - lots of good stuff.

0:14:40 > 0:14:43Thanks so much, Michaela. One thing you got to remember

0:14:43 > 0:14:46with home-cooked diets is they do take a long time

0:14:46 > 0:14:49and you need to do your research.

0:14:49 > 0:14:52Now we'll try this beautiful cake on our very special guest.

0:14:52 > 0:14:56Let's see if Pudsey wants to try it with his celebrity taste buds.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59- Hello, Ash, come on in. - Hey.- Pudsey, look, a cake!

0:14:59 > 0:15:03Amazing. He's not minding that at all.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05He's not. Giving it a good lick.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08I know he doesn't get cakes all the time at home. What's his normal food?

0:15:08 > 0:15:11He normally just eats the dry food.

0:15:11 > 0:15:13It's really high in protein to keep his energy up

0:15:13 > 0:15:16so he's ready to perform.

0:15:16 > 0:15:19- And train and see Simon, all that sort of stuff.- Of course.

0:15:19 > 0:15:22I know that you've been jetting all around the world,

0:15:22 > 0:15:26how has his diet changed since you've been travelling?

0:15:26 > 0:15:30I must admit, when we are performing and I want Pudsey to work

0:15:30 > 0:15:35to his best, he occasionally has ham sandwiches.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37Ham sandwiches, people.

0:15:37 > 0:15:40Ham has loads of fat in it, it has loads of salt in it,

0:15:40 > 0:15:44and I bet it's in white bread, which has loads of sugar in it.

0:15:44 > 0:15:46You'll probably read from my expression,

0:15:46 > 0:15:48it's not great for the dog.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51- He doesn't have it that often.- OK. Thanks so much.

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Keep on chowing down that cake. That's doggy nutrition for you,

0:15:54 > 0:15:57and just remember, my top tip this week is that you are what you eat,

0:15:57 > 0:16:00and that applies to your dog just as much as it applies to you.

0:16:00 > 0:16:02Remember to choose a complete balanced diet,

0:16:02 > 0:16:06include all the treats in the amount of food that you feed your dog,

0:16:06 > 0:16:09and always supply them with loads of fresh water.

0:16:09 > 0:16:12Any information on doggy-diet or feeding your hungry hound then

0:16:12 > 0:16:15check out the always informative CBBC website.

0:16:16 > 0:16:19Thanks, Scott, and on the subject of the website,

0:16:19 > 0:16:22you can get in on all the action by going online to the CBBC website

0:16:22 > 0:16:25and finding the Bark Mania game.

0:16:25 > 0:16:27You might need a special code to unlock something cool

0:16:27 > 0:16:30and guess who's got it? Ashleigh's got this week's code.

0:16:30 > 0:16:33- So what is it? Here it is. - It is...

0:16:33 > 0:16:38Dog food, collar, paw print, stick.

0:16:38 > 0:16:44Once more - dog food, collar, paw print, stick.

0:16:44 > 0:16:48So make sure you get online straight after the show.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51Up next, this lady's going to be answering some of your questions.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53It could only be Ask Ashleigh.

0:17:01 > 0:17:05BOTH: Hi, Ashleigh and Pudsey. We want to ask you a question.

0:17:05 > 0:17:08What's it like to be so famous?

0:17:08 > 0:17:11Well, I don't think I'm the famous one,

0:17:11 > 0:17:13I think Pudsey's the famous one.

0:17:13 > 0:17:16I can go out in a street and no-one knows who I am,

0:17:16 > 0:17:19but if I walk out with Pudsey, then that's it, we're mobbed.

0:17:19 > 0:17:23So I think you're going to have to ask Pudsey that question.

0:17:23 > 0:17:25Hi, Ashley and Pudsey.

0:17:25 > 0:17:31How was Pudsey when he was flying on Simon's private jet?

0:17:31 > 0:17:35Pudsey is a really well-travelled dog now,

0:17:35 > 0:17:38he has travelled every possible way there is,

0:17:38 > 0:17:43so he doesn't mind travelling. He was fine in the private jet.

0:17:43 > 0:17:47He had a mooch about and then just slept for most of the way.

0:17:47 > 0:17:49Hi, Ashleigh and Pudsey, I just wanted to ask you,

0:17:49 > 0:17:53when I do tricks with my dog, he always loses attention.

0:17:53 > 0:17:56So what can you suggest to me that maybe he'll concentrate on me more?

0:17:56 > 0:18:00I make sure before I even start training my dogs that

0:18:00 > 0:18:02I know exactly what they like.

0:18:02 > 0:18:05So with Pudsey, it would be his favourite treats.

0:18:05 > 0:18:11So, ham, ham sandwich, just something like that.

0:18:11 > 0:18:15With maybe Border collies, it might be their toy,

0:18:15 > 0:18:18so just make sure you find something that your dog's really into

0:18:18 > 0:18:21and will catch their attention.

0:18:22 > 0:18:25ALL: Hi, Ashleigh and Pudsey.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28My question to Ashleigh is, how old was Pudsey when he started training?

0:18:28 > 0:18:32My mum bred Pudsey, so we've had him right from day one.

0:18:32 > 0:18:36As soon as I found out that I could keep Pudsey all for myself,

0:18:36 > 0:18:38I started training straightaway.

0:18:38 > 0:18:42So, I would say I would start teaching him the basics

0:18:42 > 0:18:45when he was about eight weeks old.

0:18:45 > 0:18:48BOTH: Hi, Ashleigh and Pudsey.

0:18:48 > 0:18:51We were wondering if you've got any Hollywood films coming up?

0:18:53 > 0:18:56I can't really say yet, but you never know.

0:18:56 > 0:18:59Pudsey might be coming to cinemas near you.

0:19:04 > 0:19:08You might not know this, but Nelly absolutely loves greyhounds

0:19:08 > 0:19:10and she's going to be really excited today,

0:19:10 > 0:19:12because today's display is all about greyhounds.

0:19:12 > 0:19:15Over here, I've got Angela and Emma and their greyhounds,

0:19:15 > 0:19:17and I'm about to take Nelly around to see them.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20This is what Nelly's like with non-greyhound dogs.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22She completely ignores them. Now let's see what she's like

0:19:22 > 0:19:26when she sees some greyhounds. Come on, Nelly.

0:19:26 > 0:19:30Look. There she goes! Nelly's saying hello. She likes

0:19:30 > 0:19:33sniffing greyhound ears. It's one of her favourite hobbies.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36What are your greyhounds' names that you have with you today?

0:19:36 > 0:19:37- This is Ruby.- And this is Indie.

0:19:37 > 0:19:41They're going to be doing agility and obedience with us.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43Can't wait to see this. Let's go.

0:19:43 > 0:19:47Greyhounds are among the fastest dogs in the world.

0:19:47 > 0:19:51They are going to tear up the agility arena today.

0:19:51 > 0:19:55This is Ruby. Over the jumps...

0:19:55 > 0:20:00having a shake, now a change of pace, slowing things down.

0:20:04 > 0:20:08And over the seesaw. Nice work.

0:20:08 > 0:20:10Other dogs coming into the arena now.

0:20:12 > 0:20:15Good tunnel work, impressive stuff.

0:20:15 > 0:20:18Charlie, through the hoop.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23Taking his time through the weave poles.

0:20:23 > 0:20:26Greyhounds tend to be a lovely, gentle, intelligent breed of dog.

0:20:26 > 0:20:30Primarily bred for racing, greyhounds are extremely fast

0:20:30 > 0:20:33when running in a straight line.

0:20:33 > 0:20:36Not quite so fast when it comes to agility,

0:20:36 > 0:20:38but they look as if they're enjoying it.

0:20:38 > 0:20:41Finally, Lucy, easing herself into things today.

0:20:45 > 0:20:48Billy's going for it through the tunnel. Back to Lucy.

0:20:50 > 0:20:53It is quite warm in the arena, no need to run, really.

0:20:55 > 0:20:57But the crowd are lapping it up.

0:20:59 > 0:21:03Onto obedience now. This is a test of staying power.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06So where do you think you're going?

0:21:06 > 0:21:09Oh, good! Good job.

0:21:09 > 0:21:14Yeah, yeah, well, most of them are being fairly obedient.

0:21:19 > 0:21:24Today's fabulous finale is a tightly choreographed formation set piece.

0:21:24 > 0:21:28A real crowd-pleaser. Ooh, a bit of spin going on here.

0:21:39 > 0:21:43Phwaw! Feel a bit dizzy after all that. Fantastic!

0:21:45 > 0:21:48You did brilliantly! They did so well.

0:21:48 > 0:21:51How long does it take you to teach greyhounds to do that?

0:21:51 > 0:21:54- Oh, quite a while.- Give them a big round of applause, everyone.

0:21:54 > 0:21:57APPLAUSE AND CHEERING

0:21:59 > 0:22:03Those greyhounds were just so obedient, but don't expect

0:22:03 > 0:22:06your dog to go that slow at home, I think it's virtually impossible.

0:22:06 > 0:22:10Listen up, the doc has spoken. Right now, though, it's Pet Squad.

0:34:02 > 0:34:05Yeah, I think he's stressing a bit, like, he was crying earlier.

0:34:05 > 0:34:08He started licking and he was shaking a lot.

0:34:08 > 0:34:11I saw you were giving him nice long strokes, so...

0:34:11 > 0:34:13- It's the crowd, isn't it? - Yeah, I think so.

0:34:17 > 0:34:20- Yeah.- OK?- OK.- All right, thanks, Cassidy.

0:34:20 > 0:34:23The reason we sent Dave off is because he was getting a bit stressed

0:34:23 > 0:34:27with the crowd. In a situation like that, it's best to take your dog away

0:34:27 > 0:34:30from what's causing the stress, and give them some time out.

0:34:30 > 0:34:33- Lydia, do you want to show me what you can do?- OK.

0:34:44 > 0:34:47you can lead up to him backing up without you going with him,

0:34:47 > 0:34:49that would be great.

0:35:12 > 0:35:13She's just staring at Mum!

0:35:13 > 0:35:16Mum better be careful, or we'll make Mum come on and do it.

0:36:15 > 0:36:18Now it's over to Dr Scott, as I think he's got a few questions to answer.

0:36:23 > 0:36:25Oh, well, thanks very much, ladies.

0:36:25 > 0:36:27I've got a hugely packed surgery today,

0:36:27 > 0:36:30so let's see what questions we've got. Hello there, Amy.

0:36:30 > 0:36:33- What's your dog's name?- Blue.- Blue.

0:36:33 > 0:36:34And what's your question today?

0:36:34 > 0:36:37What kind of human food is bad for dogs?

0:36:37 > 0:36:41Well, there's quite a few human foods that aren't great for dogs, actually.

0:36:41 > 0:36:43Onions, grapes, but particularly chocolate.

0:36:43 > 0:36:45Chocolate is quite poisonous to dogs,

0:36:45 > 0:36:49so if you've got chocolate at home, hide it away from Blue. All right?

0:36:49 > 0:36:53- Hello, Katie, how are you?- Fine. - That's cool. What's your dog's name?

0:36:53 > 0:36:56- Mabel.- Mabel. She's very cute. So you've got a question for me?- Yes.

0:36:56 > 0:36:59What is the safest bone for a dog to eat?

0:36:59 > 0:37:02Well, actually, I'd say the safest bone is none at all.

0:37:02 > 0:37:06Bones are quite dangerous to your dogs, and they can really get stuck

0:37:06 > 0:37:08into their mouths or in their stomachs.

0:37:08 > 0:37:10I've had to remove loads from dogs in the past,

0:37:10 > 0:37:13so the only ones you should be giving them are chewy ones

0:37:13 > 0:37:15that you get from the shops. All right?

0:37:15 > 0:37:18Hello there, Charlotte. So what's your question?

0:37:18 > 0:37:22Chloe won't eat her breakfast, but she will eat horse poo. Why is that?

0:37:22 > 0:37:24Oh, Chloe, that's disgraceful, isn't it?

0:37:24 > 0:37:27Well, horse poo has a really strong smell,

0:37:27 > 0:37:30and it has a really strong scent, and dogs like to smell bad,

0:37:30 > 0:37:32so that's why she's eating it outside.

0:37:32 > 0:37:35But if she's taking it inside, just really hold the food back.

0:37:35 > 0:37:38They can not eat for a couple of days, be absolutely fine,

0:37:38 > 0:37:40so don't let her get away with being too picky.

0:37:40 > 0:37:43And try and keep away from those horse field! Hello there. Jack.

0:37:44 > 0:37:48- I like your hat.- Thanks.- No worries. What's your dog's name?- Bruce.

0:37:48 > 0:37:50And what's your question?

0:37:50 > 0:37:53- My dog absolutely stinks. How can I stop him farting?- Right!

0:37:53 > 0:37:56That's a lovely question, Jack, thanks so much.

0:37:56 > 0:37:58the big thing is if he's got a lot of gas,

0:37:58 > 0:38:01it's probably because his diet doesn't suit him very well,

0:38:01 > 0:38:03so maybe look to a different type of food,

0:38:03 > 0:38:07and you might find that gas calms down a little. Let's hope so, anyway.

0:38:07 > 0:38:09- And last but not least, Elsie, hello there.- Hello.- Hi.

0:38:09 > 0:38:11- And what's your dog's name?- Frank.

0:38:11 > 0:38:13Frank, what an awesome name for a dog.

0:38:13 > 0:38:16Tell me, what's your question?

0:38:16 > 0:38:22My dog eats sand, sweet wrappers, burst balloons and ears

0:38:22 > 0:38:24and tails of teddies.

0:38:24 > 0:38:26Why does he do this and how can I stop him?

0:38:26 > 0:38:29Oh dear, it really sounds like he needs some help, doesn't it?

0:38:29 > 0:38:32Bless him! I think the sand might be him trying to get something

0:38:32 > 0:38:34he doesn't have in his diet,

0:38:34 > 0:38:36so make sure you check it's complete and balanced.

0:38:36 > 0:38:40As far as the rest of it, don't throw any birthday parties soon,

0:38:40 > 0:38:42just keep the balloons and the sweets away.

0:38:42 > 0:38:44And your toys, by the sounds of it. There you go.

0:38:44 > 0:38:48Some awesome and slightly bizarre questions, but in the meantime,

0:38:48 > 0:38:49back to you, Kate.

0:38:49 > 0:38:52Next up, a story of love, a story of romance, in fact,

0:38:52 > 0:38:56it's so in motion or that even just thinking about it makes me...

0:38:56 > 0:38:59I'm sorry, it's just such a happy day!
