0:30:42 > 0:30:44Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:30:44 > 0:30:47is a show about flipping dogs, bizarre dog stuff

0:30:47 > 0:30:52from around the world, quick tricks and dogs learning daring stunts.

0:30:54 > 0:30:56Today's challenge is dock diving.

0:30:56 > 0:31:00Dock diving is a high-energy dog sport where dogs run along the dock

0:31:00 > 0:31:02towards a pool or a lake.

0:31:02 > 0:31:06In this challenge, dogs will learn to leap as far as they can into a lake.

0:31:06 > 0:31:08They can jump from the end of a wooden ramp,

0:31:08 > 0:31:10or from the end of a raised dock.

0:31:10 > 0:31:14The dog that jumps the furthest into the water is the winner.

0:31:14 > 0:31:16As the dock is much higher than the ramp,

0:31:16 > 0:31:19dogs brave enough to jump from here will go much further.

0:31:19 > 0:31:21For this challenge,

0:31:21 > 0:31:26I need three confident dogs that love to swim and aren't scared of water.

0:31:26 > 0:31:30They also need to be play-motivated, so we can reward with a toy.

0:31:30 > 0:31:32Let's see how it went at try-outs.

0:31:36 > 0:31:40Over 400 kids brought their dogs to the try-outs.

0:31:40 > 0:31:43They all hoped that Zak would take them to the Dog House

0:31:43 > 0:31:46to learn an incredible stunt.

0:31:46 > 0:31:48That was pretty impressive!

0:31:48 > 0:31:53He saw dancing dogs, acting dogs, fast dogs

0:31:53 > 0:31:57and very...still...dogs!

0:31:57 > 0:32:01Some drank too much water and then, they peed!

0:32:01 > 0:32:04All these dogs and trainers did every trick in the book

0:32:04 > 0:32:08just to see if Zak would take them to his big fancy Dog House.

0:32:08 > 0:32:11But they didn't even know what stunt they'd end up learning.

0:32:11 > 0:32:15Zak only needed three teams for every stunt, not 400!

0:32:15 > 0:32:19In the end, for dock diving, he chose these ones.

0:32:19 > 0:32:21My name's Abi and I'm from Durham.

0:32:21 > 0:32:25- My dog's called Jet.- Why do you want to come to the Dog House?

0:32:25 > 0:32:29Cos I think Jet's got good potential and I want to train dock diving.

0:32:29 > 0:32:31OK, that sounds cool.

0:32:31 > 0:32:35When we take her down to the river, she to jump in, back legs first.

0:32:35 > 0:32:40- You mean backwards?- Yeah.- She looks smart. Show me the good stuff.

0:32:40 > 0:32:43Yeah, yeah, yeah! That's what I like to see! Look at this energy!

0:32:43 > 0:32:47This is Abigail. She's 12-years-old and her dog Jet is two.

0:32:47 > 0:32:49Good girl!

0:32:49 > 0:32:53When Abigail's not playing football, she does agility training with Jet.

0:32:56 > 0:32:58OK, what's your next trick?

0:32:58 > 0:33:02Anyway, the weirdest thing about Jet is that she doesn't bark.

0:33:02 > 0:33:06Yeah! A dog that does not bark!

0:33:06 > 0:33:09Let her know you really mean stay right now and walk away.

0:33:09 > 0:33:13Abigail and Jet were so good Zak felt Abigail would have no problem

0:33:13 > 0:33:15teaching Jet to dock dive.

0:33:15 > 0:33:21Abigail, Jet, you did fantastic! You made my day. Thank you very much.

0:33:21 > 0:33:24My dog's name is Seren and is a weirmaraner.

0:33:24 > 0:33:28My name's Ted. I want to come to the Dog House

0:33:28 > 0:33:31because me and Seren make a great team and I really love her.

0:33:31 > 0:33:34She's a gorgeous dog. Show me what she can do, please.

0:33:34 > 0:33:38Ted is ten and his dog Seren is one.

0:33:38 > 0:33:41Seren is Welsh for star!

0:33:41 > 0:33:45And Seren has a star pattern on her chest, like a superhero!

0:33:45 > 0:33:49- Her main motivation is play more than food, is that correct?- Yes.

0:33:49 > 0:33:54Hey, I've got it! Maybe Seren is a dog superhero.

0:33:54 > 0:33:56Sit! Stay!

0:33:56 > 0:33:58Seren loves chasing peacocks.

0:33:58 > 0:34:00They must be criminal peacocks, of course.

0:34:00 > 0:34:03She does like that ball!

0:34:03 > 0:34:07Although Seren is young and clearly a superhero,

0:34:07 > 0:34:10Zak felt Ted could easily teach her to dock dive.

0:34:10 > 0:34:11See if she'll retrieve this.

0:34:16 > 0:34:17Yeah!

0:34:17 > 0:34:21Ted and Seren, you guys did wonderfully!

0:34:21 > 0:34:24I've seen everything I need to see.

0:34:24 > 0:34:26My name's Sarah. My dog's name is Millie

0:34:26 > 0:34:30- and she's a golden retriever. - Show me some tricks, please.

0:34:30 > 0:34:34Sarah is eleven and her dog Millie is three.

0:34:34 > 0:34:35Fantastic!

0:34:35 > 0:34:39Sarah loves to play tennis, but she's not the only one.

0:34:39 > 0:34:43Millie, her dog, loves tennis balls too.

0:34:43 > 0:34:47You might think that would cause friction, but apparently not.

0:34:47 > 0:34:49I love training Millie

0:34:49 > 0:34:52and it'll be great for her to learn something new.

0:34:52 > 0:34:56- Do you ever reward with tennis balls? - Sometimes, when we're out on walks.

0:34:56 > 0:34:59Zak suggested Sarah should use one of her precious tennis balls

0:34:59 > 0:35:02to persuade Millie to dock dive.

0:35:03 > 0:35:07- You can do anything you want to do. Thank you very much.- Thank you.

0:35:07 > 0:35:09Good dog!

0:35:10 > 0:35:14So, Abigail and Jet, Ted and Seren and Sarah and Millie

0:35:14 > 0:35:16all made it into the Dog House.

0:35:16 > 0:35:20There, they will undertake two days of intense expert dog training,

0:35:20 > 0:35:23before going head-to-head in the dock-diving challenge

0:35:23 > 0:35:28and the winner will take home the Who Let The Dogs Out? top trophy!

0:35:32 > 0:35:34# Who let the dogs out? #

0:35:40 > 0:35:41Training day one.

0:35:41 > 0:35:44Hey, guys. What's going on? How are we doing today?

0:35:44 > 0:35:47- You feel pretty good?- Yeah.- Yeah.

0:35:47 > 0:35:50As you guys can see, we are at the dock today.

0:35:50 > 0:35:53Who wants to take a guess as to what we're teaching?

0:35:53 > 0:35:55- Is it dock diving?- You got it!

0:35:55 > 0:35:59Does Sarah look a bit worried about dock diving?

0:35:59 > 0:36:02Dock diving is one of those really fun things to teach your dog

0:36:02 > 0:36:06and it takes a very confident, energetic dog to do this.

0:36:06 > 0:36:10- Your dogs like to swim. They're all comfortable with the water?- Yeah.

0:36:10 > 0:36:12Once we get going,

0:36:12 > 0:36:15this is the type of trick that tends to accelerate quickly.

0:36:15 > 0:36:18We're going to start training right now.

0:36:18 > 0:36:21Abi and Jet, let's go over here.

0:36:21 > 0:36:24The first thing I like to do when doing a trick of this nature

0:36:24 > 0:36:28is to get the dogs comfortable with the texture of the dock.

0:36:28 > 0:36:31We want to make sure they're comfortable with it.

0:36:31 > 0:36:33I want you to play fetch down this ramp.

0:36:33 > 0:36:35That's it.

0:36:35 > 0:36:38Hey, look. Jet's not scared of the ramp.

0:36:38 > 0:36:41- I reckon Jet's going to jump straight in.- Nice. Good!

0:36:41 > 0:36:43Good! Show me some happiness!

0:36:43 > 0:36:48Yes! I was right! One soggy doggy coming up!

0:36:48 > 0:36:50Good, good! Keep going!

0:36:50 > 0:36:54Hey! I am pretty good at this prediction malarkey!

0:36:54 > 0:36:57I predict Jet will jump in again.

0:36:57 > 0:37:00Wait for it. Told you! Ha-ha-ha!

0:37:00 > 0:37:03- Very good!- Good girl!

0:37:03 > 0:37:07That's what I like to see from a potential dock-diving dog.

0:37:07 > 0:37:10Ted and Seren, come on over.

0:37:10 > 0:37:13Ted says that Seren loves swimming.

0:37:13 > 0:37:16I mean...I predict Seren will jump too.

0:37:16 > 0:37:19Very good. OK.

0:37:19 > 0:37:23Wow! Look at that jump! That was predicted by me!

0:37:23 > 0:37:25Good jumping, Seren!

0:37:25 > 0:37:28Now that's called doggy paddling!

0:37:28 > 0:37:30Very nice!

0:37:30 > 0:37:33I was so excited about that. She just jumped in!

0:37:33 > 0:37:35Woo!

0:37:37 > 0:37:39In-cred-ible!

0:37:39 > 0:37:42Look at it in slow-mo!

0:37:44 > 0:37:46All right, Sarah and Millie, come on up.

0:37:46 > 0:37:51- Pretty impressive, huh? - I'm her best friend.

0:37:51 > 0:37:55So let's get comfortable walking around on the dock.

0:37:55 > 0:37:59Now, I happen to know that Millie got a real fright recently

0:37:59 > 0:38:03when she jumped into a lake and couldn't get out.

0:38:03 > 0:38:06So, if Millie can be a little scared of water,

0:38:06 > 0:38:09she's probably going to take this very slowly.

0:38:09 > 0:38:11Call her back.

0:38:11 > 0:38:15Easy does it, Millie. Be careful.

0:38:15 > 0:38:17I'll take that. Right there.

0:38:17 > 0:38:23This is letting the dog be comfortable to do their own thing.

0:38:23 > 0:38:27Hmm... She doesn't look very confident, does she?

0:38:30 > 0:38:32Go! Good girl, that's it!

0:38:32 > 0:38:34Nice!

0:38:34 > 0:38:36Oh, yay! Up you come.

0:38:36 > 0:38:39- Millie.- Let's see if we can actually encourage her to go out and swim.

0:38:39 > 0:38:43- She's a little nervous. - Millie! Millie!- Come here.

0:38:43 > 0:38:48- Look! Look! And go!- Good! That's good.- Good girl! Go, go, go!

0:38:48 > 0:38:52- Yay!- Good job! Love your energy.

0:38:52 > 0:38:55- Good girl!- Love your attitude.

0:38:58 > 0:39:00# Who let the dogs out? #

0:39:00 > 0:39:05Training is fun, but there's always time to chill out and play the fool.

0:39:05 > 0:39:07And here's some dogs doing just that.

0:39:11 > 0:39:16Roll up! Roll up! All the fun of the dog circus is here!

0:39:16 > 0:39:20Roll up! I said "roll up" not "roll over"!

0:39:20 > 0:39:24Now, where do you stand on the great arms versus legs debate?

0:39:24 > 0:39:27Arms are fun,

0:39:28 > 0:39:30but then so are legs.

0:39:33 > 0:39:35Show me your leg. No, the other one. No, the other one!

0:39:35 > 0:39:38Haven't you got any hind legs, human?

0:39:39 > 0:39:44Frisbees drive dogs crazy!

0:39:44 > 0:39:47If only it was possible to combine Frisbees and legs.

0:39:47 > 0:39:50Thank you. I bet he can't keep that up.

0:39:50 > 0:39:52Oh. He has.

0:39:52 > 0:39:56The ambition of every dog is to be a horse.

0:39:57 > 0:39:59See? Nothing they like better.

0:39:59 > 0:40:01Well, apart from being a kangaroo.

0:40:04 > 0:40:07Not him again(!)

0:40:07 > 0:40:10So what exactly is your trick?

0:40:10 > 0:40:12Hmm? Hmm?

0:40:12 > 0:40:14Oh, please!

0:40:14 > 0:40:17Oh, come on! Anyone can use a climbing frame

0:40:17 > 0:40:20and wear a handkerchief on their head badly!

0:40:20 > 0:40:23And your trick of hanging on a piece of string

0:40:23 > 0:40:26is just...rubbish!

0:40:26 > 0:40:28Stop it! It's dull!

0:40:30 > 0:40:32Very dull!

0:40:32 > 0:40:36Now this is pretty impressive.

0:40:36 > 0:40:39But I've heard that dogs will only take over the world

0:40:39 > 0:40:43once they have learned to skip. Or ride a bike.

0:40:43 > 0:40:46So looks like we've got nothing to worry about.

0:40:46 > 0:40:48Uh... Oh! Oh dear!

0:40:49 > 0:40:52All right, you've made your point.

0:40:54 > 0:40:56If you think that was fun,

0:40:56 > 0:40:58wait till you see these dog relaxation techniques.

0:40:58 > 0:41:00And Zak's quick trick

0:41:00 > 0:41:04and the Who Let The Dogs Out? dock-diving show-time!

0:41:04 > 0:41:07# Who let the dogs out? #

0:41:07 > 0:41:10There's lots of swimming fun going on here.

0:41:10 > 0:41:13I reckon they're ready to move on to the next step.

0:41:13 > 0:41:17Hey, guys. So how have we been getting on?

0:41:17 > 0:41:21- How's training going?- Good! - Amazing, from what I'm seeing!

0:41:21 > 0:41:25- I'm ready to move on to the next training step, are you?- Yeah, good!

0:41:25 > 0:41:29Abi and Jet, come on. Let's go over here. It's more of the same,

0:41:29 > 0:41:33but I want to see if we can get a leap the next few times. This way.

0:41:37 > 0:41:41We're going to let her make her decision. It's OK, go get it.

0:41:41 > 0:41:44- Tell your dog it's OK to get the ball.- Jet, it's OK. Go on, fetch it.

0:41:44 > 0:41:47Jet's pretty confident running about on that dock,

0:41:47 > 0:41:49but will she be the first to dock dive?

0:41:49 > 0:41:54- Fetch it! Go on.- Yes! Good job! Excellent!

0:41:54 > 0:41:56Let's see that jump again.

0:41:58 > 0:41:59Wow!

0:41:59 > 0:42:01Is that a dog or a hairy dolphin?

0:42:01 > 0:42:04Watch out, superhero Seren! You've got some competition.

0:42:04 > 0:42:07Ted and Seren, come on over.

0:42:07 > 0:42:11I can't predict who'll be the first to dock dive. Jet or Seren.

0:42:11 > 0:42:14What's happening is actually a very good thing.

0:42:14 > 0:42:18She's exploring it, encourage that. Let her know you like that.

0:42:18 > 0:42:21She's trying to get up the nerve. You want them to build confidence.

0:42:21 > 0:42:27Yes! This is all about trust. She's an impressive jumper!

0:42:27 > 0:42:29Right, that's it! I have decided.

0:42:29 > 0:42:33Seren is definitely going to be the first to dock dive.

0:42:33 > 0:42:34Nice work.

0:42:34 > 0:42:39Sarah and Millie, come on up. Tough act to follow. Pretty impressive.

0:42:39 > 0:42:43This is all about having fun, so let's get her comfortable up here.

0:42:43 > 0:42:47She's a golden retriever and they like to swim. Usually.

0:42:47 > 0:42:50Millie's looking more confident now she's been swimming.

0:42:50 > 0:42:53She's got to jump this time. Go on, Millie!

0:43:00 > 0:43:03Here we go. Will she do it? Yes! Look at her go!

0:43:03 > 0:43:07She's swimming! It was a mini dock dive! Looks good.

0:43:07 > 0:43:12She did it! Millie actually jumped. Wow! And what a jump!

0:43:12 > 0:43:16Let her see that joy and excitement in your eyes as she's coming back.

0:43:16 > 0:43:20Good. Stay down low. Stay down low. Good.

0:43:20 > 0:43:23Oh, fine! Millie? Go on! Go on!

0:43:23 > 0:43:28- You can do it! Yay!- Woah! She did it! Look at that!

0:43:28 > 0:43:33- Well done, Millie! - Waw! That was exciting!

0:43:33 > 0:43:37What?! Did that just happen? Did that actually happen?!

0:43:37 > 0:43:42Millie has just dock dived! That was totally unpredictable!

0:43:42 > 0:43:46I mean nobody, not even me, could have predicted that!

0:43:46 > 0:43:47Ho-ho, man!

0:43:47 > 0:43:51Jet, Seren and Millie are dogs that were bred for different jobs.

0:43:51 > 0:43:54Let's take a look at their mutt measurements.

0:43:56 > 0:43:58Jet is a border collie.

0:43:58 > 0:44:01Jet loves tennis balls and will do anything to get one.

0:44:01 > 0:44:04She's quite partial to a tummy tickle too.

0:44:04 > 0:44:06Now Jet competes in agility,

0:44:06 > 0:44:09so she should have no problem learning how to dock dive,

0:44:09 > 0:44:15but will she be brave enough to throw herself off the dock? Hmm.

0:44:15 > 0:44:19Next up, we have Seren. Seren is a weimaraner.

0:44:19 > 0:44:22She loves swimming. She'll fetch anything,

0:44:22 > 0:44:25but her favourite thing in the world is a tennis ball.

0:44:25 > 0:44:28She also likes the family cat. The family cat?! What a softy!

0:44:28 > 0:44:31Seren's love of fetching is the main reason

0:44:31 > 0:44:35she could easily learn this stunt and might even jump the furthest.

0:44:35 > 0:44:36Hmm!

0:44:36 > 0:44:38Millie is a golden retriever.

0:44:38 > 0:44:41Golden retrievers were originally bred to fetch game

0:44:41 > 0:44:45from the water and this explains why Millie likes to swim.

0:44:45 > 0:44:47Her favourite thing is people,

0:44:47 > 0:44:49with tennis balls coming a close second.

0:44:49 > 0:44:52Millie should excel at dock diving,

0:44:52 > 0:44:55but will she be able to jump as far as the others? Hmm!

0:44:59 > 0:45:02It's training day two. I wonder how the dogs are getting on.

0:45:02 > 0:45:04Will we get any more dock dives today?

0:45:04 > 0:45:06- Hey, guys. How's it going?- Good.- OK.

0:45:06 > 0:45:10You're involved with training. Tell me how training's been going.

0:45:10 > 0:45:14- Really well! She's improved.- She hasn't tried to jump off the dock.

0:45:14 > 0:45:17She was going to but she lost her confidence.

0:45:17 > 0:45:21I'll want to see shortly. Ted, tell me how training's been going.

0:45:21 > 0:45:25I think it's quite nice because she's really confident in the water

0:45:25 > 0:45:29and off the ramp. She's nearly there, off the edge of the dock.

0:45:29 > 0:45:33You think she's going to do that by tomorrow? That's not very far away.

0:45:33 > 0:45:37- Yeah. I'm half confident. - how confident?- Half.

0:45:37 > 0:45:42- Sarah, what's new with you?- Well, Millie sort of went downhill today.

0:45:42 > 0:45:46She'd been jumping off the dock, but now she finds an easier route

0:45:46 > 0:45:51- and goes down the ramp.- I'm curious to see how all of you're doing.

0:45:51 > 0:45:56I'm going to start with you, Ted. You guys, practise over here.

0:45:56 > 0:45:59Although Seren is confident jumping from the ramp,

0:45:59 > 0:46:02there's no way of telling if she will jump from the dock.

0:46:02 > 0:46:06Get her attention with the ball. OK, and go.

0:46:06 > 0:46:11- Very nice.- Good dog!- Yeah! Nice work! Good job!

0:46:11 > 0:46:14And now, let me see how she reacts when you roll it into the dock.

0:46:14 > 0:46:17- Very gently.- Fetch!- Very good.

0:46:17 > 0:46:20Let's see what happens.

0:46:20 > 0:46:25Good. I'm going to let you do this. Good, go on.

0:46:25 > 0:46:28Just throw it. If she goes, she goes.

0:46:28 > 0:46:31She just needs to finds her superpowers, that's all.

0:46:31 > 0:46:34You've got to work on with her between now and tomorrow,

0:46:34 > 0:46:37making it exciting. Keep up the good work.

0:46:37 > 0:46:40I think your odds are exactly right, about 50-50.

0:46:40 > 0:46:44She might do it. Keep that trust going, seize that momentum.

0:46:44 > 0:46:48I'm going to work now with Jet and Abi.

0:46:48 > 0:46:50All right, come on in.

0:46:50 > 0:46:53I tell you, the way to do this is to just show me. Go on.

0:46:53 > 0:46:56Ooh, now it is Jet's turn to try the dock. Good.

0:46:57 > 0:47:01Oh! It looks to me like she wants to be anywhere but on the dock.

0:47:01 > 0:47:04Come along, Jet. Jump! It's not hard.

0:47:04 > 0:47:09- Nearly!- You know what? Go ahead and bring her back up.

0:47:09 > 0:47:14Get her really pepped about the ball before you throw it.

0:47:14 > 0:47:18That's fine. Don't be discouraged if she doesn't. OK, that's OK.

0:47:18 > 0:47:23- You did everything right. - Go in! Go on! Good girl!

0:47:23 > 0:47:26You're building her confidence. This can take time.

0:47:26 > 0:47:28You guys are doing everything right.

0:47:28 > 0:47:33Sarah told Zak that earlier today, Millie lost her confidence

0:47:33 > 0:47:38and stopped jumping, so she might never dock dive again. Tickety-tick.

0:47:38 > 0:47:41Wait. And...

0:47:41 > 0:47:45What?! Well, that is not a dog that's lost its confidence.

0:47:45 > 0:47:49I'm beginning to think that Millie is very unpredictable.

0:47:49 > 0:47:52If it ain't broke, don't fix it. She's doing very well.

0:47:52 > 0:47:55But there is one small risk that you have that you need to watch for.

0:47:55 > 0:48:00Often when a dog does it this early, they start to question themselves.

0:48:00 > 0:48:04Like, "Wait a minute. You know what? Maybe I don't want to do this."

0:48:04 > 0:48:05It's a possibility.

0:48:05 > 0:48:06Come on, let's go.

0:48:07 > 0:48:08Nice work, guys.

0:48:08 > 0:48:11Looking very, very good here.

0:48:11 > 0:48:14The competition is tomorrow and I want you to use the time left

0:48:14 > 0:48:17to keep practising and good luck, OK?

0:48:17 > 0:48:19- Stay.- See you tomorrow, y'all.

0:48:19 > 0:48:20- ALL:- Bye!

0:48:20 > 0:48:23Now, here are Zak's six steps to dock diving.

0:48:23 > 0:48:28Number 1, allow your dog to get used to the dock's surface.

0:48:28 > 0:48:292, when they're happy,

0:48:29 > 0:48:32encourage your dog to play fetch on the slope of the ramp.

0:48:32 > 0:48:363, let the ball roll into the water and allow your dog to fetch it.

0:48:36 > 0:48:384, once your dog's happy doing that,

0:48:38 > 0:48:41get your dog to swim out a little to retrieve the ball.

0:48:41 > 0:48:435, encourage your dog to jump from the ramp.

0:48:43 > 0:48:466, when they're confident and you're sure they can do it,

0:48:46 > 0:48:48let the dog try to jump off the dock.

0:48:50 > 0:48:52# Who let the dogs out? #

0:48:52 > 0:48:54Today, we'll teach Nelly how to spin.

0:48:54 > 0:48:56Any time you're teaching your dog a new trick,

0:48:56 > 0:48:59it's important that you make it worth their while.

0:48:59 > 0:49:02Use something they love - it can be a treat or a toy.

0:49:02 > 0:49:04Today, I'm using a toy with Nelly.

0:49:04 > 0:49:06Come on, Nelly, let's play! Get it, get it, get it!

0:49:06 > 0:49:08Yes!

0:49:08 > 0:49:10Nice work, very good!

0:49:10 > 0:49:11Give. Perfect!

0:49:11 > 0:49:14We're going to teach spin by encouraging her to move.

0:49:14 > 0:49:16This way. Good. Ready?

0:49:16 > 0:49:18Left spin. Nice.

0:49:18 > 0:49:20The reason I'm saying "left spin"

0:49:20 > 0:49:24is because I want Nelly to understand how to spin both left and right.

0:49:24 > 0:49:28Dogs are capable of understanding the difference between left and right -

0:49:28 > 0:49:31they're more intelligent than most people realise.

0:49:31 > 0:49:32Let's try right.

0:49:32 > 0:49:35- Right.- Woof!- Yeah!

0:49:35 > 0:49:38Now Nelly's starting to understand the difference between the two,

0:49:38 > 0:49:42I think we can start to mix them up a little bit. Left.

0:49:42 > 0:49:43Right.

0:49:43 > 0:49:45Now, she knows left, she knows right.

0:49:45 > 0:49:48If your dog knew another trick, like, say, back up,

0:49:48 > 0:49:50you could start to get very fancy with this.

0:49:50 > 0:49:53Let me show you what I mean. Right turn, reverse.

0:49:53 > 0:49:54Fantastic!

0:49:54 > 0:49:56And that's how it looks.

0:49:56 > 0:49:57Nelly, go get it!

0:49:58 > 0:49:59# Who let the dogs out? #

0:49:59 > 0:50:01Woof! Woof, woof, woof!

0:50:01 > 0:50:06Most dogs relax by lying in front of the fire, chewing a bone,

0:50:06 > 0:50:07but not these pampered pups.

0:50:07 > 0:50:09From yoga to massages,

0:50:09 > 0:50:14here are some real unusual ways for dogs to just chill out.

0:50:18 > 0:50:22Whether it's dinner, treats, playing with other dogs, um,

0:50:22 > 0:50:23she has a very spoiled life!

0:50:23 > 0:50:26Now, if you want to pamper your pet in New York,

0:50:26 > 0:50:28then bring them to this spa and gym.

0:50:28 > 0:50:30A bit of the bling, madame?

0:50:30 > 0:50:32Massage, sir?

0:50:33 > 0:50:35Or would you like to go clubbing?

0:50:35 > 0:50:39This is our liver/bacon-flavoured bubble machine.

0:50:39 > 0:50:42- The dogs have lots of fun with it. - Mmm! Liver and bacon.

0:50:42 > 0:50:44Would you like a relaxing infrared doggy sauna?

0:50:44 > 0:50:46Cos they've got it.

0:50:46 > 0:50:50Hey, hey, hey, break it up, you two, or you are barred!

0:50:50 > 0:50:51DOGS GROWL

0:50:51 > 0:50:54Right now, you're in our photo studio,

0:50:54 > 0:50:56where we do different themed set-ups.

0:50:56 > 0:50:58And this is Pooper.

0:50:58 > 0:51:00He's one of our star models here.

0:51:00 > 0:51:02"Pooper"?! Eurgh!

0:51:02 > 0:51:04I dread to think how he got that name!

0:51:04 > 0:51:06Breathe in...

0:51:06 > 0:51:07HE INHALES

0:51:07 > 0:51:09..and breathe out.

0:51:09 > 0:51:10HE EXHALES

0:51:10 > 0:51:12This is dog yoga...

0:51:12 > 0:51:14And breathe in again.

0:51:14 > 0:51:15HE INHALES

0:51:15 > 0:51:17..which is getting very big in Japan.

0:51:17 > 0:51:20I just hope they remembered their deodorants.

0:51:20 > 0:51:22It's all very well lifting their dogs up,

0:51:22 > 0:51:24but I have got a ten-stone St Bernard!

0:51:24 > 0:51:28There are currently over 1,000 dogs in Japan doing dog yoga

0:51:28 > 0:51:29with their handlers.

0:51:29 > 0:51:30The dogs are lifted,

0:51:30 > 0:51:33hugged and stroked for that sense of inner calm.

0:51:33 > 0:51:36See? He looks calm.

0:51:36 > 0:51:38Here, where are you going?

0:51:38 > 0:51:41Of course, when a handler raises a leg, it's yoga.

0:51:41 > 0:51:45If a dog raises its leg, it could mean something - ahem -

0:51:45 > 0:51:46completely different.

0:51:50 > 0:51:53Now, this is O2 arena,

0:51:53 > 0:51:55where O2 stands for oxygen.

0:51:55 > 0:51:59Yes, in Japan, you're no-one in the pampered pup world

0:51:59 > 0:52:02if you haven't got your own personal oxygen capsule.

0:52:02 > 0:52:03Apparently David Beckham has one,

0:52:03 > 0:52:08but this oxygen capsule is specially adapted for dogs.

0:52:08 > 0:52:10Hm, a dogs-ygen capsule.

0:52:10 > 0:52:12Concentrated oxygen is meant to revive the body

0:52:12 > 0:52:15and give it more energy. It can help reactivate cells,

0:52:15 > 0:52:20heal injuries AND make the fur glossy.

0:52:20 > 0:52:24I suppose that's why David Beckham's fur is always so glossy.

0:52:24 > 0:52:2730 minutes of air for just £15!

0:52:27 > 0:52:29A bargain.

0:52:30 > 0:52:32# Who let the dogs out? #

0:52:32 > 0:52:34Woof, woof. Whine.

0:52:34 > 0:52:38The three days of dock-diving training are now over.

0:52:40 > 0:52:42It's time for Millie, Seren and Jet

0:52:42 > 0:52:45to compete in Zak's dock-diving challenge.

0:52:48 > 0:52:50And only one of them can win.

0:52:53 > 0:52:56Abigail and Jet's hard work paid off.

0:52:56 > 0:53:00Earlier today, Jet finally jumped from the dock.

0:53:00 > 0:53:03She's jumped off three times but lost her confidence a bit.

0:53:03 > 0:53:07Sarah and Millie have also been practising hard

0:53:07 > 0:53:08over the last three days.

0:53:08 > 0:53:11But, as we know, Millie can be very unpredictable

0:53:11 > 0:53:13and she might not jump.

0:53:13 > 0:53:16We've just got to see what happens.

0:53:16 > 0:53:19OK. When we last saw Ted and superhero Seren,

0:53:19 > 0:53:21they were jumping really far from the ramp.

0:53:21 > 0:53:24I just wonder whether Seren has learnt to jump from the dock.

0:53:24 > 0:53:27Seren is surprisingly good at dock diving, actually.

0:53:27 > 0:53:29She's the best dog anybody could have.

0:53:29 > 0:53:31Today, it's a big day.

0:53:31 > 0:53:34Yes, it is show-time!

0:53:34 > 0:53:36Who will jump from the dock?

0:53:36 > 0:53:38Who will jump the furthest?

0:53:38 > 0:53:44And who will walk away with the Who Let The Dogs Out? Top Dog Trophy?

0:53:44 > 0:53:46I am too excited!

0:53:46 > 0:53:48# Who let the dogs out? #

0:53:48 > 0:53:49Woof! Woof, woof, woof!

0:53:49 > 0:53:52It's show time for our dock divers.

0:53:52 > 0:53:56The dogs should leap into the water, as far as they can go,

0:53:56 > 0:53:58but only if they're comfortable with it.

0:53:58 > 0:54:01The markers in the water will determine how far they've jumped.

0:54:01 > 0:54:04First up on this soggy show-time, we have Ted and Seren.

0:54:04 > 0:54:06Now, each of them get three jumps

0:54:06 > 0:54:11and it looks like Ted and Seren are going to use the ramp.

0:54:11 > 0:54:12Whoa!

0:54:12 > 0:54:14No hesitation!

0:54:14 > 0:54:15Cool!

0:54:20 > 0:54:21Oh, yes.

0:54:21 > 0:54:25That was a spectacular ramp jump, but how far was it?

0:54:27 > 0:54:29Wow! 1.3 metres.

0:54:29 > 0:54:31Yeah, pretty good for a ramp jump,

0:54:31 > 0:54:33but will it be enough to beat the others?

0:54:33 > 0:54:35Go get it!

0:54:35 > 0:54:37Whoa, whoa! Another great jump.

0:54:37 > 0:54:38How far was that one?

0:54:41 > 0:54:431.5 metres!

0:54:43 > 0:54:45Whoa, that's even further!

0:54:45 > 0:54:48This is superhero Seren's last jump.

0:54:48 > 0:54:50OK. Go!

0:54:50 > 0:54:52Whoa! How far was that?

0:54:53 > 0:54:56Another 1.5 metres!

0:54:56 > 0:54:58So if Jet and Millie do not jump from the dock,

0:54:58 > 0:55:00Seren could easily win this.

0:55:00 > 0:55:04Now, next up, we've got Sarah and Millie.

0:55:04 > 0:55:06Well, will Millie jump from the dock?

0:55:06 > 0:55:07Will Millie jump at all?

0:55:07 > 0:55:09Ha! She is SO unpredictable!

0:55:11 > 0:55:12What is she doing?!

0:55:12 > 0:55:14WOW!

0:55:14 > 0:55:15Good girl!

0:55:15 > 0:55:18Oh, surely that's blown Seren's jump out of the water!

0:55:18 > 0:55:20Ooh, how far was that?

0:55:20 > 0:55:223.4 metres!

0:55:22 > 0:55:23Good one!

0:55:23 > 0:55:25Now she's gearing up for a second go.

0:55:25 > 0:55:28Whoa! Oh, another incredible jump!

0:55:28 > 0:55:30Has she beaten her own record?

0:55:30 > 0:55:31Let's find out.

0:55:32 > 0:55:34Well done, Millie. Come on.

0:55:34 > 0:55:36That was just A-MA-ZING!

0:55:36 > 0:55:40That was 3.8 metres!

0:55:45 > 0:55:48She is the incredible flying dog.

0:55:48 > 0:55:50Simple as that. That's how it is.

0:55:50 > 0:55:54Cor! Ooh, another amazing, unbelievable jump!

0:55:54 > 0:55:56There's not stopping this dog.

0:55:56 > 0:55:57Let's just see that again.

0:55:59 > 0:56:02That was 4.2 metres.

0:56:03 > 0:56:07Earlier today, Jet did jump from the dock but will she do it now?

0:56:07 > 0:56:10If she doesn't, she'll never beat Millie.

0:56:10 > 0:56:12Oh, no. Where's she going?

0:56:12 > 0:56:13Go on!

0:56:13 > 0:56:16Well, it was a great jump,

0:56:16 > 0:56:19but it most certainly will not beat Millie's distance.

0:56:19 > 0:56:21That was only 1.6 metres.

0:56:21 > 0:56:23Although that beats Seren's best jump.

0:56:23 > 0:56:25They're going for the dock again.

0:56:25 > 0:56:28Oh, no. Jet's having none of it.

0:56:29 > 0:56:32It's a disaster for Abigail.

0:56:32 > 0:56:33How far was that?

0:56:35 > 0:56:38That was 1.2 metres, Jet.

0:56:38 > 0:56:40Last go. Will she jump from the dock?

0:56:40 > 0:56:43Come on, Jet, you can do it. Come on.

0:56:43 > 0:56:45Oh, come on! Come on, come on!

0:56:45 > 0:56:46Ohh...

0:56:46 > 0:56:49Urgh!

0:56:49 > 0:56:53Never mind, it was still a great jump. Now, how far was it?

0:56:53 > 0:56:55It was 1.2 metres.

0:56:58 > 0:57:00# Who let the dogs out? #

0:57:00 > 0:57:02Woof! Woof, woof, woof!

0:57:02 > 0:57:05I can now reveal that the winner of today's

0:57:05 > 0:57:08Who Let The Dogs Out? Top Dog Trophy is...

0:57:10 > 0:57:14..Sarah and Millie. Congratulations.

0:57:14 > 0:57:16Fantastic job!

0:57:16 > 0:57:19Now, how do you feel about this?

0:57:19 > 0:57:21Oh, well, any of us could have won it.

0:57:21 > 0:57:23They were just amazing in training, everyone.

0:57:23 > 0:57:28I...I thought that both of them had a massive jump, so it's surprising.

0:57:28 > 0:57:29You all earned it,

0:57:29 > 0:57:32you all experienced this with your dogs.

0:57:32 > 0:57:34I could not be more proud. Congratulations.

0:57:34 > 0:57:36- Thank you. - I see smiles on all three faces.

0:57:36 > 0:57:40That tells me you loved it. Your dogs are lucky to have you in their life.

0:57:40 > 0:57:42That's all from the Dog House for today.

0:57:42 > 0:57:45We'll see you next time on Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:57:45 > 0:57:46# Who let the dogs out? #

0:57:46 > 0:57:48Woof! Woof, woof, woof!

0:57:48 > 0:57:52I feel really chuffed for her - she deserved the trophy,

0:57:52 > 0:57:55cos Millie jumped off the dock and none of our dogs did!

0:57:55 > 0:57:57I don't mind. It's not the winning that matters,

0:57:57 > 0:58:00it's spending time with your dog and the experience.

0:58:00 > 0:58:03She's done fantastically. She started jumping off the bank

0:58:03 > 0:58:05and then the ramp and then finally the dock,

0:58:05 > 0:58:08which was just a fantastic feeling.
