0:00:42 > 0:00:45If you like dogs, you'll love Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:00:45 > 0:00:48We've got inspirational dogs,

0:00:48 > 0:00:51doggy best friends, Zak's quick trick

0:00:51 > 0:00:55and three trainers are taking on a very difficult challenge.

0:00:55 > 0:00:58Today our dogs are going to learn how to pull a weight.

0:00:58 > 0:01:02We want these dogs to pull a weight as fast as they can over a course.

0:01:02 > 0:01:06Each load will be around half the dog's own weight.

0:01:06 > 0:01:09The dog that gets to the finish line in the fastest time will win.

0:01:09 > 0:01:13For this sport, we need strong, healthy adult dogs,

0:01:13 > 0:01:16ideally with a good recall, but we can work on that.

0:01:16 > 0:01:19Let's see what happened at the try-outs.

0:01:24 > 0:01:27Over 400 kids brought their dogs to the try-outs.

0:01:27 > 0:01:32They all hoped to go to the Dog House to learn an incredible stunt.

0:01:32 > 0:01:37- Wonderful!- We saw spinning dogs and skipping dogs,

0:01:37 > 0:01:39rolling dogs and reading dogs.

0:01:39 > 0:01:44Some were a bit shy, while others were a bit rowdy.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47All they could do was to show Zak their top tricks

0:01:47 > 0:01:50in the hope he'd choose them to come to the Dog House,

0:01:50 > 0:01:53where they would find out what stunt he had chosen.

0:01:53 > 0:01:57But Zak needed only three teams and competition was fierce.

0:01:57 > 0:02:02For weight pull, here are the teams that impressed Zack the most.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05- This looks like my type of dog. - I'm Hannah and this is Buddy.

0:02:05 > 0:02:09- We come from Clifton. - Show me what he can do.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12Hannah is 10 years old and her dog Buddy is two years old.

0:02:12 > 0:02:14They love to go for long walks

0:02:14 > 0:02:16and do agility in the garden.

0:02:16 > 0:02:20- Very dramatic down, isn't it? - Come over.

0:02:20 > 0:02:22- Did you just jump with him?- Buddy?

0:02:22 > 0:02:24HANNAH LAUGHS

0:02:26 > 0:02:30Hannah says that the one word that sums up Buddy is intelligent.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34- Wonderful.- Zak was very impressed with Hannah and Buddy.

0:02:34 > 0:02:38They have a strong bond and would have great fun at the Dog House.

0:02:38 > 0:02:42- You and Buddy are a fantastic team. And you are free to go.- Free to go?!

0:02:42 > 0:02:45- Thank you!- Goodbye, Buddy!

0:02:45 > 0:02:48My name is Jasmine, my dog's name is Lottie.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50What a happy looking dog!

0:02:50 > 0:02:54I'd like to show other people that Rottweilers

0:02:54 > 0:02:56aren't these aggressive dogs.

0:02:56 > 0:03:00You're exactly right. Show me what Lottie the Rottie can do.

0:03:00 > 0:03:04Jasmine is 11 years old and her dog Lottie is one.

0:03:04 > 0:03:06Jasmine's family love Lottie,

0:03:06 > 0:03:09except her stepdad, who's allergic to her.

0:03:09 > 0:03:10Lottie, come on.

0:03:12 > 0:03:14Go hide.

0:03:14 > 0:03:16Good girl!

0:03:16 > 0:03:18Jasmine obviously loves training Lottie

0:03:18 > 0:03:22and Zak had no hesitation taking her to the Dog House.

0:03:22 > 0:03:25I have thoroughly enjoyed you. Thank you very much.

0:03:31 > 0:03:33- Aysha, stay. - Got her under control?- Yes.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37My name's Ellie. This is Aysha, a Siberian husky.

0:03:37 > 0:03:41We're from Sunderland. Her breed pulls sleds,

0:03:41 > 0:03:45so we think she would like to learn how to pull a sled.

0:03:45 > 0:03:48She did a good job of pulling you in here! Show me what she does.

0:03:48 > 0:03:52When I whistle, she sometimes howls back.

0:03:52 > 0:03:55SHE WHISTLES AND DOG HOWLS

0:03:55 > 0:04:01Ellie is nine years old and her dog Aysha is five.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04Aysha, sit.

0:04:04 > 0:04:07I dropped a bit of cheese and she is after it!

0:04:07 > 0:04:10Although Aysha's not the most obedient dog, she is strong.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13Zak thought she'd be good at pulling weights.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16You have brought a lot of joy to me today.

0:04:16 > 0:04:18Hannah and Buddy, Jasmine and Lottie

0:04:18 > 0:04:21and Ellie and Aysha have made it into the Dog House.

0:04:21 > 0:04:26They'll receive two days of dog training from Zak

0:04:26 > 0:04:28before going head-to-head

0:04:28 > 0:04:32and the winner will take the Who Let The Dogs Out? top dog trophy.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:04:44 > 0:04:47- Hey, guys. How are we doing?- Good!

0:04:47 > 0:04:52We're going to be training our dogs to take part in a race.

0:04:52 > 0:04:55They're going to be pulling half their body weight behind them.

0:04:55 > 0:04:59One of the most important things is that we take it super slowly

0:04:59 > 0:05:01and we're patient with our dogs.

0:05:01 > 0:05:05And even more important is that we keep it very happy.

0:05:05 > 0:05:10Lottie the Rottie, let's go. I just love saying that!

0:05:11 > 0:05:15Now Lottie has this head collar on. Explain what that is.

0:05:15 > 0:05:19This head collar stops her pulling because she is a very strong dog.

0:05:19 > 0:05:23Exactly. It is a very humane way to keep the dog from pulling.

0:05:23 > 0:05:28A lot of people think it's a muzzle, but she is a very friendly dog.

0:05:28 > 0:05:32You're going to call her in a happy voice. I'll have you stand there.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35I'm going to put this long lead on.

0:05:35 > 0:05:39The more excited you are, the better, when you call her, OK?

0:05:39 > 0:05:42Lottie! Lottie!

0:05:42 > 0:05:46- Come, come, Lottie!- Right now, she's looking at the sheep.

0:05:46 > 0:05:51She's not even paying attention to Jasmine one little bit.

0:05:51 > 0:05:56She wants to go. There she goes! And there it is. Quick, quick! Excited!

0:05:56 > 0:06:00- Life is wonderful! Let her know! - Lottie, you good girl.

0:06:00 > 0:06:05Step one in weight pull is making sure your dog comes when called.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07Let's see how the others got on.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11Aysha! Aysha! Come here!

0:06:11 > 0:06:16- She's like, I don't know. - Aysha! Come here! Aysha! Aysha!

0:06:16 > 0:06:20Ellie's having big problems getting Aysha's attention.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23Aysha just doesn't seem interested.

0:06:23 > 0:06:25- Come here!- Yes! Move around!

0:06:25 > 0:06:28Hannah's doing very well though. Buddy is fast.

0:06:28 > 0:06:33- Aysha!- Oh, Aysha! Don't look that way!

0:06:33 > 0:06:35Ellie is the other way!

0:06:35 > 0:06:38There she goes!

0:06:38 > 0:06:41Jasmine's dog, Lottie, has got a great recall.

0:06:41 > 0:06:43Wonderful. Really let her know you love her.

0:06:43 > 0:06:47Aysha! Ellie is the other way!

0:06:47 > 0:06:49Now she's doing it!

0:06:49 > 0:06:52At last. Aysha's going to Ellie!

0:06:52 > 0:06:53Beautiful!

0:06:53 > 0:06:55# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:06:57 > 0:07:01Pulling a heavy load is a lot of work and your dog needs to be fully grown

0:07:01 > 0:07:05for this, but there's lots of fun you can have with puppies.

0:07:05 > 0:07:08Take a look at these little cuties.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11Now it's time for puppy love!

0:07:14 > 0:07:19# And they called it puppy love... #

0:07:19 > 0:07:21When he grows up, he wants to be a cat!

0:07:21 > 0:07:26# ..I guess they'll never know. #

0:07:26 > 0:07:29When he grows up, he wants to be a ballerina!

0:07:29 > 0:07:31And he just wants to be cute.

0:07:33 > 0:07:35But he is cute!

0:07:36 > 0:07:39- And so is he! - That's it, say your prayers.

0:07:42 > 0:07:45And he is a dog sitting on a swing. For some reason.

0:07:48 > 0:07:53Now growing up, you need to have patience. Lots of it.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55Wait.

0:07:55 > 0:07:58Don't look at me like that.

0:07:58 > 0:08:00You also have to learn to be brave

0:08:00 > 0:08:03and face up to terrifying enemies like...a ball.

0:08:10 > 0:08:14This is Rosie and Marbles. In love!

0:08:15 > 0:08:18He's still waiting. Good boy.

0:08:23 > 0:08:27Aw! More hugs! Hang on, it's getting a bit serious now, isn't it?

0:08:27 > 0:08:30Eurgh!

0:08:30 > 0:08:34And he is the winner of the most patient dog of the year.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37- Go!- And that is his reward.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43Still to come, we've got some inspirational dogs,

0:08:43 > 0:08:49Zak's quick trick, and we'll find out who wins

0:08:49 > 0:08:53the Who Let The Dogs Out? top dog trophy.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:08:57 > 0:09:01We'll introduce the cart. We're going on to the next step.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05We want to make sure he's comfortable so I'm going to get a block of wood

0:09:05 > 0:09:08and we'll see how he feels with that.

0:09:08 > 0:09:11We don't want to be very threatening with it.

0:09:11 > 0:09:15We want to move around and let him know it's nothing to be scared of.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17Let's see how he reacts to it.

0:09:17 > 0:09:22I'm going to keep his leash on just to keep him easier to manage.

0:09:22 > 0:09:24Buddy seems happy with step two.

0:09:24 > 0:09:28I wonder how the others feel about being attached to a piece of wood.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30We're not playing with the wood!

0:09:30 > 0:09:35I think she wants to play with the wood more than she wants to pull it!

0:09:35 > 0:09:37This is the part where, if they get scared here,

0:09:37 > 0:09:40it can be really hard to get them back.

0:09:40 > 0:09:42- Yes!- Does that make sense?

0:09:42 > 0:09:45We'll make sure it goes real slow.

0:09:45 > 0:09:49- Go and stand back over there. Go ahead and call her.- Aysha!

0:09:49 > 0:09:51Let her know it's going to be worthwhile.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53Ellie is having trouble

0:09:53 > 0:09:56getting Aysha to come when she is called again.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Aysha's never going to win the weight pull race

0:09:59 > 0:10:02if she stands around like this all day.

0:10:02 > 0:10:04It's OK! Aysha, come on!

0:10:07 > 0:10:10- Come on!- Look at the tail. Good. You're getting through to her.

0:10:10 > 0:10:13Aysha, come on!

0:10:13 > 0:10:18Come on, Aysha! Come on! Come on!

0:10:18 > 0:10:20Come on, come on! Nearly.

0:10:20 > 0:10:23- Aysha, come on! - She thought about it.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26They're still not having any luck.

0:10:26 > 0:10:30- Aysha, come on!- Let's see how the competition's doing.

0:10:30 > 0:10:31Look what I've got you.

0:10:31 > 0:10:35Wow! Look at Hannah and Buddy. That's fast.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38- Wonderful job. - Come here! Come on, Lottie!

0:10:38 > 0:10:40Nice work, Jasmine.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43Boy, she is fantastic!

0:10:43 > 0:10:46Now, will Aysha finally be able to pull the board?

0:10:46 > 0:10:49- Aysha! Come on! - Go on, Aysha. You can do it.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52Come on! Come on!

0:10:52 > 0:10:57See? Right there, she's pulling it, no negative reaction to the wood.

0:10:57 > 0:11:01Yes! That's three board-pulling dogs.

0:11:01 > 0:11:05Aysha, Lottie and Buddy are similar in height but they're very different.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07Look at their mutt measurements.

0:11:07 > 0:11:12Aysha is a Siberian husky. Huskies are Arctic dogs.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15It's no surprise Aysha's favourite thing is playing in the snow.

0:11:15 > 0:11:17Huskies were bred to pull sledges,

0:11:17 > 0:11:20so she should have no problem with this task.

0:11:20 > 0:11:24She needs to work on coming to Ellie when she calls her.

0:11:24 > 0:11:28Next we have Lottie. Lottie is a Rottweiler.

0:11:28 > 0:11:31They're one of the oldest sheepdogs in the world.

0:11:31 > 0:11:35Rottweilers are often gentle and Lottie's no exception.

0:11:35 > 0:11:38Strength should make weight pulling effortless,

0:11:38 > 0:11:41but Lottie will need to work on her speed.

0:11:41 > 0:11:43And finally, we have Buddy,

0:11:43 > 0:11:46a Border collie crossed with a Labrador retriever.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49Collies have great stamina and retrievers are strong,

0:11:49 > 0:11:52so with Buddy's great recall, he could be the fastest.

0:11:52 > 0:11:56Buddy's favourite thing is food. He'll do anything for a snack.

0:11:56 > 0:12:00A bit of sausage on the finishing line and the race is as good as won.

0:12:03 > 0:12:08Training day two and Zak's got something new for the dogs to pull.

0:12:08 > 0:12:13- Hey, guys. How are we doing?- Hi.- Very good. How did training go yesterday?

0:12:13 > 0:12:17- Do you feel good about it? - Yes!- Yes.- Good, good.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Jasmine, tell me about training with Lottie.

0:12:20 > 0:12:26Yesterday, I started using the toy to get her to come. It worked well.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29Now I'm going to keep on using it.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32Hannah and Buddy, tell me about what you've been experiencing.

0:12:32 > 0:12:37Yesterday, I got him to pull that that wooden slab and he did good.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40I think he needs to work on his concentration.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44He sits all the time, unless you've got treats.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47Ellie and Aysha, tell me how it went.

0:12:47 > 0:12:52Aysha needs a bit more practice, but she's getting better.

0:12:52 > 0:12:56We want to get your dog used to pulling all sorts of things.

0:12:56 > 0:13:02So today, we're going to practice pulling a cart.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05I'm going to start with you, Jasmine and Lottie.

0:13:05 > 0:13:11We don't want them to get scared about this thing they're pulling.

0:13:11 > 0:13:15We want to see how she reacts. I'm going to move it. Very nice.

0:13:15 > 0:13:18- Stay.- That's OK.

0:13:18 > 0:13:23She wants to go at it. That might be a whole new problem right there.

0:13:23 > 0:13:26She's ready to play with it, I think.

0:13:26 > 0:13:29I think we're ready to get started a little bit.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32We're going to attach this to her

0:13:32 > 0:13:34and encourage her to pull it kind of slowly.

0:13:34 > 0:13:38We're going to put this on. You go over there.

0:13:38 > 0:13:42- We haven't worked on distance yet. - Lottie, what's this? Come!

0:13:42 > 0:13:45- Come here! Come! Come!- Good girl!

0:13:45 > 0:13:48- Come here. Come here. - Yes. Good girl!

0:13:48 > 0:13:50I think you've done very well.

0:13:50 > 0:13:53I'm going to move on to Hannah and Buddy.

0:13:53 > 0:13:56You're going to go down there and call him.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59I'm going to run behind him to make sure he doesn't get spooked.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02I'll stop the cart if I need to.

0:14:03 > 0:14:06OK, go on.

0:14:06 > 0:14:08Buddy! Come here!

0:14:08 > 0:14:11Come here, Buddy!

0:14:16 > 0:14:20- Stay. Good boy! - Lovely! Looking good!

0:14:20 > 0:14:23As you practise, add more weight to it

0:14:23 > 0:14:27in order to get Buddy more comfortable doing it.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31- Tell me how training's been going. - It's been good,

0:14:31 > 0:14:34but I think she needs a lot of practice

0:14:34 > 0:14:37because sometimes there's distractions and the heat

0:14:37 > 0:14:39and everything's making her excited.

0:14:39 > 0:14:43If she pulls the cart, it's fine. If she doesn't, it's fine.

0:14:43 > 0:14:48So... Hello! She seems to be completely at ease right now.

0:14:48 > 0:14:51Move the cart around. I want to see how she reacts to it.

0:14:51 > 0:14:55- It's heavy. I can't believe the dogs have been able to pull this.- I know.

0:14:55 > 0:14:58You're having a hard time pulling it!

0:15:02 > 0:15:07Nice work. Nice work. Ellie, I want you to go over here, please.

0:15:07 > 0:15:11- Get ready, OK?- Aysha, come on. Aysha!

0:15:11 > 0:15:15Aysha, come on! Come on!

0:15:15 > 0:15:20- Come on! Come on!- I want you to practise this a little bit more, OK?

0:15:20 > 0:15:24But don't force her into it. If she doesn't feel like it, that's OK.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26Just keep working.

0:15:28 > 0:15:33Our three teams now have one week to practise at home before returning

0:15:33 > 0:15:38to the Dog House and going head-to- head in the weight pull challenge.

0:15:38 > 0:15:40Our trainers have a lot of work to do,

0:15:40 > 0:15:44especially Ellie and Aysha, but they need to take their time.

0:15:44 > 0:15:48One of the things about this trick is it's an exercise in patience.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:15:51 > 0:15:54Here are Zak's five steps to teaching your dog to weight pull.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58One - train your dog recall, to come when they're called.

0:15:58 > 0:16:00Two - get comfortable

0:16:00 > 0:16:02with pulling something light on a harness.

0:16:02 > 0:16:05Three - try this with an item that is bigger and more noisy.

0:16:05 > 0:16:10Four - finally get them to pull an item that is heavier than before.

0:16:10 > 0:16:12Five - practise

0:16:12 > 0:16:16and your dog will be a weight pulling champion in no time.

0:16:16 > 0:16:19# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:16:21 > 0:16:25I'm going to show you an easy trick to teach your dog.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28How to teach your dog to jump through your arms.

0:16:28 > 0:16:32The first thing you want to do is find a toy or treat your dog likes.

0:16:32 > 0:16:37I call that currency. Come on, Nellie! Come here, girl!

0:16:37 > 0:16:42Very good! The first thing I do when I teach a dog how to jump

0:16:42 > 0:16:45through my arms is to get them really excited.

0:16:45 > 0:16:48Then I'm going to angle them, like this.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51I'm putting my arm out here and... Very good!

0:16:51 > 0:16:54That wasn't dramatic, but she was on the right track.

0:16:54 > 0:16:58I'm going to use that toy to coax her to jump over my arm.

0:16:58 > 0:17:00Yes. Stay! Over here.

0:17:00 > 0:17:04Yes! Good! Ready? This way!

0:17:04 > 0:17:07Come on! Yes! Hop! Good! One more time!

0:17:07 > 0:17:10I made her do it a few extra times. I felt she was starting to get it.

0:17:10 > 0:17:15Once they're doing that, we can start to make a hoop out of it.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17It'll look something like this. Give. Stay.

0:17:18 > 0:17:22Hop! Yes! Good girl! Very good!

0:17:22 > 0:17:23Come here. Let's try it again.

0:17:23 > 0:17:26Good. Give, stay.

0:17:26 > 0:17:29Hop. I'm going to go a little higher this time

0:17:29 > 0:17:32cos she's really starting to get it. Wonderful job!

0:17:32 > 0:17:34Very good. Give.

0:17:34 > 0:17:38Let's try this. I don't know if she's going to do it, but I'm going to try.

0:17:38 > 0:17:40Nellie, come on.

0:17:40 > 0:17:43Look at that! Wonderful!

0:17:43 > 0:17:46And I'm going to pay her.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49Her form of money is this rope toy. If you keep doing it like that,

0:17:49 > 0:17:52you'll have all sorts of fun with your dog and they'll do it for ever.

0:17:52 > 0:17:55As usual, keep it fun and loving.

0:17:55 > 0:17:58Good job. Go get it!

0:17:58 > 0:18:00# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:18:00 > 0:18:05Often when I'm teaching dogs, I find that I'm the one being taught.

0:18:05 > 0:18:09It's true, dogs make great teachers.

0:18:09 > 0:18:12And here's a few dogs we could all learn a little from.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15# Stop, whoa yes, wait a minute, Mr Postman. #

0:18:15 > 0:18:22This is a postman and this is Mable, a bearded collie cross from Devon.

0:18:22 > 0:18:26It's a typical doggie scene played out every day all over the country.

0:18:26 > 0:18:30The postman comes, the dog gets excited, jumps on the post,

0:18:30 > 0:18:34wants to jump on the postman and...

0:18:34 > 0:18:37she falls asleep.

0:18:39 > 0:18:42Mable suffers from a rare condition called narcolepsy.

0:18:42 > 0:18:44If she gets over-excited,

0:18:44 > 0:18:48she can fall into a sleep-like state for several seconds

0:18:48 > 0:18:53and then wake up again unharmed as if nothing has ever happened.

0:18:53 > 0:18:55There, that's better.

0:18:55 > 0:18:59Now, the post, or playing with other dogs, or being patted

0:18:59 > 0:19:03too energetically can bring on these unexpected sleeps.

0:19:03 > 0:19:05Sweet dreams.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14Dogs. Man's four-legged friend.

0:19:14 > 0:19:17Except who's to say they have to have four legs?

0:19:17 > 0:19:21This is Faith from the USA. She's like any other dog,

0:19:21 > 0:19:24except she uses two legs to get about, instead of four.

0:19:24 > 0:19:27Faith was born with this disability.

0:19:27 > 0:19:29First, she learned how to hop, up we go,

0:19:29 > 0:19:32and then one day, one of the other dogs annoyed her.

0:19:32 > 0:19:36She wasn't going to stand for that, so Faith just jumped up

0:19:36 > 0:19:38and ran after him on two legs.

0:19:38 > 0:19:41From then on, nothing could hold her back.

0:19:41 > 0:19:43That's why they named her Faith.

0:19:43 > 0:19:47She's been checked by vets and she's absolutely fine.

0:19:47 > 0:19:49Faith adores people

0:19:49 > 0:19:52and especially loves going to meet her Grandma and Grandpa.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54FAITH WHINES EXCITEDLY

0:19:54 > 0:19:57I think she's saying she loves Grandma's new hairdo.

0:19:57 > 0:19:59And possible Grandpa's jeans.

0:19:59 > 0:20:01Faith's determination

0:20:01 > 0:20:05and lovely nature have made her a bit of a celebrity in America.

0:20:05 > 0:20:08She's been on lots of TV shows.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11And now, she's on the telly in Britain as well.

0:20:12 > 0:20:15# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:20:17 > 0:20:22Today is Showtime. Yes. Seven days of hardcore training ends now.

0:20:22 > 0:20:28So what surprises will Showtime bring for Ellie, Jasmine and Hannah?

0:20:28 > 0:20:32Will Lottie, Buddy and Aysha manage to pull an unfamiliar object

0:20:32 > 0:20:34that's half their own body weight?

0:20:34 > 0:20:38Last week, Jasmine was having no trouble getting Lottie to come

0:20:38 > 0:20:42when she was called and she may be the dog with the most drive.

0:20:42 > 0:20:48But will she be the fastest? Jasmine has been practising hard at home.

0:20:48 > 0:20:51Training's gone well. Lottie's been pulling the wood well

0:20:51 > 0:20:54and we put a plant pot on it to weigh it down a bit.

0:20:54 > 0:20:58At the Dog House, Hannah and Buddy's training went very well.

0:20:58 > 0:21:01And at home, Buddy was getting faster,

0:21:01 > 0:21:04but suddenly he developed a harness problem.

0:21:04 > 0:21:08He's been going great but he keeps running out of the harness.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10He falls backwards and he pulls it over his head.

0:21:10 > 0:21:15Although Aysha is a husky, she can be unpredictable.

0:21:15 > 0:21:19Sometimes she comes when Ellie calls her, but sometimes she doesn't.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23Ellie and Aysha have improved, but it's still a bit hit and miss.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27She just goes when she wants to go, so there's no telling really.

0:21:27 > 0:21:30Aysha's definitely been expected to win it

0:21:30 > 0:21:34and we've been comfortable with that.

0:21:34 > 0:21:37Today's the big day. It's Showtime!

0:21:38 > 0:21:40Who will finish the race?

0:21:42 > 0:21:44Who will pull the fastest?

0:21:46 > 0:21:51And who will walk away with the Who Let the Dogs Out? top dog trophy.

0:21:51 > 0:21:54# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:21:57 > 0:21:59Stay.

0:21:59 > 0:22:02First up on this windy Showtime, we have Jasmine and Lottie.

0:22:02 > 0:22:07Zak will hold each of the dogs until the trainer is in position.

0:22:07 > 0:22:11Each team will have three goes, but only the fastest time will count.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14Jasmine, when you're ready to call her, go ahead.

0:22:14 > 0:22:16You should only ever attempt this challenge

0:22:16 > 0:22:19under the guidance of an experienced dog trainer.

0:22:19 > 0:22:23What's Lottie doing? She's just standing there.

0:22:23 > 0:22:27Luckily, the timer will only start when the bone crosses the line

0:22:27 > 0:22:29and stop when the dog crosses the other line.

0:22:29 > 0:22:33If Jasmine crosses that line she'll incur five penalty points.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36- Jasmine's crossed the line. This is a disaster.- Lottie, come!

0:22:36 > 0:22:39What? Is she going to give up?

0:22:39 > 0:22:45And Lottie's off! She's doing it! Yes! That's it, Lottie! Well done!

0:22:45 > 0:22:46Look at her go!

0:22:46 > 0:22:50Those weights are heavy, but Lottie's such a strong dog.

0:22:53 > 0:22:58Well done, but you did lose those five points at the start.

0:22:58 > 0:23:01Look at that determination on Lottie's face.

0:23:01 > 0:23:04- Can Lottie do better in her second go?- Lottie, come on!

0:23:04 > 0:23:07Lottie, come, come!

0:23:08 > 0:23:12No hesitation this time. This looks even faster than the first go.

0:23:12 > 0:23:16Is Lottie about to set a new target for Buddy and Aysha?

0:23:16 > 0:23:20Come on, Lottie. Lottie, come! Come here! Oh, you good girl!

0:23:26 > 0:23:29So could Lottie do even better in her final go? And she's off!

0:23:33 > 0:23:38Look at those muscles! Jasmine's worked so hard on that recall.

0:23:38 > 0:23:40Oh, no! Is Lottie tiring?

0:23:40 > 0:23:42Come here! Come here!

0:23:42 > 0:23:44No, she's not!

0:23:44 > 0:23:49That was impressive. Lottie has managed to pull a huge bone,

0:23:49 > 0:23:54which was half her body weight, in an incredible 15.1 seconds.

0:23:54 > 0:23:56Can Buddy beat that?

0:23:56 > 0:23:59# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:23:59 > 0:24:01So, here's Hannah and Buddy.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04Is Buddy going to slip his harness?

0:24:04 > 0:24:06All right, whenever you're ready.

0:24:06 > 0:24:08Buddy!

0:24:08 > 0:24:12Go! Oh, no! Already, Buddy's trying to slip his harness.

0:24:12 > 0:24:15If he leaves that bone behind, this run will not count.

0:24:15 > 0:24:19Oh, he's got free. Buddy's abandoned the bone.

0:24:19 > 0:24:22He's got great recall, but that's not enough in this race.

0:24:22 > 0:24:25He has to pull the weight the length of the course for it to count.

0:24:27 > 0:24:31Oh, no! He's struggling again.

0:24:31 > 0:24:34And he's out of his harness. He is fast though.

0:24:34 > 0:24:37If he could pull the bone, he could beat Lottie's time.

0:24:40 > 0:24:41They've got one more chance.

0:24:41 > 0:24:45Will Buddy pull the bone weight this time? It's not looking good.

0:24:45 > 0:24:49- Whenever you're ready to call him. - Buddy!

0:24:49 > 0:24:51And he's off. He's doing it.

0:24:51 > 0:24:56Wow! Look at that speed! That's amazing!

0:24:56 > 0:24:59Oh! He's not crossed the line. Oh, no!

0:25:02 > 0:25:06Buddy ran that course in an astounding 6.5 seconds.

0:25:06 > 0:25:10But Hannah didn't realise he hadn't crossed the line.

0:25:10 > 0:25:13# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:25:13 > 0:25:16OK. It's time for Ellie and Aysha.

0:25:16 > 0:25:19Aysha's only been pulling when the mood takes her.

0:25:19 > 0:25:22Let's see if she can remember her husky sledge dog roots

0:25:22 > 0:25:24and make Ellie proud.

0:25:24 > 0:25:27- OK, Ellie, whenever you're ready. - Aysha!

0:25:27 > 0:25:31Aysha's looking at Ellie. She's thinking about it.

0:25:31 > 0:25:35Is Aysha ignoring Ellie again? Will she ever run?

0:25:35 > 0:25:38She's off! Oh, wow!

0:25:38 > 0:25:41Come on! Come on!

0:25:41 > 0:25:45Ellie's ecstatic with that result. And no wonder - that was amazing!

0:25:45 > 0:25:47What a change!

0:25:47 > 0:25:49Now, there's a husky doing her thang!

0:25:49 > 0:25:53But was it fast enough to beat Buddy's 6.5 seconds?

0:25:53 > 0:25:55Ellie's second go coming up.

0:25:55 > 0:25:57Ellie, whenever you're ready.

0:25:57 > 0:26:01OK. Aysha! Aysha!

0:26:01 > 0:26:05Wow! No hesitation this time. That is one happy husky.

0:26:05 > 0:26:07And one happy trainer!

0:26:13 > 0:26:17- OK, Ellie, whenever you're ready. - Aysha. Aysha! Come on!

0:26:17 > 0:26:21And she's off again. Go, Aysha!

0:26:21 > 0:26:23Ha! Is there no tiring this dog?

0:26:23 > 0:26:26It's going to be such a close finish.

0:26:26 > 0:26:28# Who Let The Dogs Out? #

0:26:30 > 0:26:34What a competition that was! All of you did so good.

0:26:34 > 0:26:38And it's now time to announce the results.

0:26:38 > 0:26:40Jasmine and Lottie,

0:26:40 > 0:26:41your fastest time was...

0:26:41 > 0:26:4515.1 seconds.

0:26:45 > 0:26:48Excellent time. Very, very good.

0:26:48 > 0:26:51Hannah and Buddy, you went next.

0:26:51 > 0:26:54Only one of your races counted

0:26:54 > 0:26:57because Buddy slipped out of the harness.

0:26:57 > 0:27:00Your time in that one was 6.5 seconds.

0:27:00 > 0:27:06Ellie and Aysha, with a time of...

0:27:10 > 0:27:13..5.2 seconds,

0:27:13 > 0:27:16you are today's Who Let The Dogs Out? top dog!

0:27:16 > 0:27:20Congratulations! How do you feel about that?

0:27:20 > 0:27:25I feel really excited because I never expected this from Aysha.

0:27:50 > 0:27:53It's not all about winning. It's about the taking part.
