0:01:09 > 0:01:11for the entire series.

0:01:11 > 0:01:14That means these try-outs are going to be even busier,

0:01:14 > 0:01:15even tougher...

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Oh, yeah! He opened it!

0:01:17 > 0:01:18..even stricter...

0:01:27 > 0:01:30Hundreds of kids and their dogs applied to be on

0:01:30 > 0:01:32this series of Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:01:33 > 0:01:36And they have come from all over the UK,

0:01:36 > 0:01:39just to meet Zak George at the try-outs, here in Manchester.

0:01:40 > 0:01:45They all hope that Zak will take them to his big, fancy Dog House.

0:01:45 > 0:01:47It's very exciting, because no-one knows

0:01:47 > 0:01:50what stunts the dogs will be learning this time.

0:01:50 > 0:01:53It could be anything, like recording their own pop song.

0:01:53 > 0:01:54DOG WHINES

0:01:54 > 0:01:58It's going to be tough this time. The stunts are incredibly difficult.

0:01:58 > 0:02:02I need seriously dedicated trainers.

0:02:02 > 0:02:05Sit, lie down, roll over, basic commands -

0:02:05 > 0:02:07they're just not good enough for this competition.

0:02:07 > 0:02:10These trainers are going to have to show me a lot more

0:02:10 > 0:02:12if they want into the Dog House.

0:02:14 > 0:02:17The Dog House is where all the really hardcore training takes place

0:02:17 > 0:02:21and, this time, there will be lots of heats, all leading up

0:02:21 > 0:02:26to one big fat mega exciting finale...

0:02:26 > 0:02:28# Who let the dogs out?

0:02:28 > 0:02:30# Who, who, who? #

0:02:30 > 0:02:33..and an even bigger, sparklier trophy!

0:02:33 > 0:02:37If I get through, I'll be so excited.

0:02:37 > 0:02:39We would have a chance to show what we can do.

0:02:39 > 0:02:44It will teach Crystal new things and then she could bond with other dogs.

0:02:44 > 0:02:47I want to prove that Chihuahuas aren't just a fashion accessory

0:02:47 > 0:02:48and that they are clever.

0:02:48 > 0:02:51He's just the best dog in the world and he deserves it.

0:02:54 > 0:02:59One of the first under the spotlight is Liam and Alfie from Cardiff.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02Liam is hoping that his friendship with his dog

0:03:02 > 0:03:05will impress Zak enough to get them into the Dog House.

0:03:05 > 0:03:09Me and Alfie have a strong bond and we love to learn new tricks

0:03:09 > 0:03:14and Alfie's never won an award, so fingers crossed.

0:03:14 > 0:03:18This is their one chance to impress Zak George.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20- How you doing today?- Alfie!

0:03:20 > 0:03:23- If you want to take the lead off, you may.- Oh, yeah.

0:03:23 > 0:03:25It's up to you, though.

0:03:25 > 0:03:29- I'd like you to encourage him to come and stand on this, OK?- OK.

0:03:30 > 0:03:33It's a good idea to be close to them. Really good. Ask him to stay.

0:03:33 > 0:03:35Oh. Alfie!

0:03:35 > 0:03:37Not the ball!

0:03:37 > 0:03:40Oh, no! I don't think that was supposed to happen!

0:03:41 > 0:03:45Let's see if we can get a little closer to him over here.

0:03:45 > 0:03:49All they can do now is try and catch Alfie, to get him under control.

0:03:51 > 0:03:54What on earth is Liam going to do?

0:03:54 > 0:03:57I know you're frustrated right now. It really is not a disaster.

0:03:57 > 0:04:00Looks like Liam's got a secret weapon.

0:04:00 > 0:04:02Pick up that ball and put it on the trampoline.

0:04:02 > 0:04:05No ball, but you can have the Frisbee.

0:04:05 > 0:04:08I like that! You do watch Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:04:08 > 0:04:13Can you put him on the lead, please? And just stand up for me, please.

0:04:13 > 0:04:16- Oh, no!- OK, now it's a disaster!

0:04:16 > 0:04:18And now he's got his bag of treats.

0:04:18 > 0:04:22It's OK. You can't get past me! No, you can't do it!

0:04:27 > 0:04:31OK, let's try and get him. Hey, how are you? OK, we're cool.

0:04:35 > 0:04:37- He ate most of them!- Nice work.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39Me and you - we're a good team, ain't we?

0:04:40 > 0:04:42That was a complete disaster.

0:04:43 > 0:04:46Absolutely was.

0:04:47 > 0:04:51Let's just say, me and Zak got a lot of exercise.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53Oh, wow, yeah!

0:04:53 > 0:04:57At first, I didn't think it was a disaster, but, yeah, it really was.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59And Liam wasn't the only trainer

0:04:59 > 0:05:02to find out that things don't always go the way you plan them.

0:05:02 > 0:05:04I hope you're not filming this!

0:05:07 > 0:05:08Are you embarrassed by this?

0:05:08 > 0:05:10SHE LAUGHS

0:05:10 > 0:05:12But he's still going. This is like a record here!

0:05:15 > 0:05:17- Aw!- He can pee on command!

0:05:18 > 0:05:21I don't think this is what Zak was expecting at all.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24Will anyone make it to the Dog House?

0:05:24 > 0:05:26What if Zak cancels the show?!

0:05:26 > 0:05:30This series of Who Let The Dogs Out? is a lot tougher than last time.

0:05:30 > 0:05:33I've got to know that the dogs and trainers that I choose

0:05:33 > 0:05:36here at the try-outs are up for all of the challenges that lie ahead.

0:05:36 > 0:05:40I need real trust and communication between dog and trainer.

0:05:40 > 0:05:44They've got to prove to me that they're willing to work hard.

0:05:44 > 0:05:48I mean, we can't make this show if the trainers aren't dedicated.

0:05:51 > 0:05:55Warming up in the waiting room are Esther and Daisy.

0:05:55 > 0:05:59I wonder if they can make a better impression on Zak?

0:05:59 > 0:06:02I'm feeling really excited about going into the try-outs

0:06:02 > 0:06:05and meeting Zak, because I'm a really big fan of dog training.

0:06:05 > 0:06:07I like your sweater.

0:06:07 > 0:06:11Tell me, Esther, why do you want to come to the Dog House?

0:06:11 > 0:06:13Daisy's just a brilliant dog,

0:06:13 > 0:06:17and she knows everything she possibly could at the moment,

0:06:17 > 0:06:19and I just want to show people how good she is.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22You may be the most confident trainer I've seen here today.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25- Do you think you're going to do well at the try-outs?- Yeah.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28- Get to work. Show me what you got. - Down.

0:06:29 > 0:06:30Stay.

0:06:32 > 0:06:33Stay.

0:06:33 > 0:06:35Good girl!

0:06:35 > 0:06:39Sit. Good girl. High five!

0:06:39 > 0:06:41Crawl. Crawl. Good girl.

0:06:41 > 0:06:43- That's more like it!- Fetch!

0:06:43 > 0:06:46- OK, very good. I get that. - She's trying to...- Yeah.

0:06:46 > 0:06:48She's trying to pick it up. Go weave.

0:06:50 > 0:06:52- Very nice.- Good girl!

0:06:52 > 0:06:55- Would she be comfortable getting inside here?- Yeah, I'm pretty sure.

0:06:55 > 0:06:58Daisy, in you get. Good girl!

0:06:58 > 0:07:01She knew what you wanted. Come on out.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04You have really good communication with your dog.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07What I want her to do is to hit this, like this.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09- Do you think she could do that? - Yeah.

0:07:09 > 0:07:12- Or would that make her nervous? - Daisy, come here.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Fetch!

0:07:14 > 0:07:16In the hand, Dais.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19You've delighted me today. You've done very, very well.

0:07:19 > 0:07:21I appreciate it.

0:07:21 > 0:07:23- You're free to go. Thank you. - Thank you.

0:07:23 > 0:07:25I think the try-out went really, really good

0:07:25 > 0:07:28and Daisy's probably quite proud of herself.

0:07:28 > 0:07:31If you want to have a chance of doing well on Who Let The Dogs Out?,

0:07:31 > 0:07:33you've got to give me a try-out like that.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36That is a dog and a trainer who get it. They understand each other.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39That's the game you've got to bring to get on Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:07:42 > 0:07:44Esther and Daisy weren't the only ones

0:07:44 > 0:07:46- jumping through hoops to impress Zak.- Very nice work.

0:07:46 > 0:07:52- That is the kind of try-out I like to see from a dog. Incredible!- Phew!

0:07:52 > 0:07:54It seems the future of Who Let The Dogs Out? is safe.

0:07:54 > 0:07:56- That's good. Good, good. - Yes, good boy!

0:07:56 > 0:07:58If they get into the Dog House,

0:07:58 > 0:08:00they're going to be next-to-unstoppable.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03'I'm so proud of him for even getting this far.'

0:08:03 > 0:08:06If we get into the Dog House, it would just be a bonus.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08And she's done unbelievable!

0:08:08 > 0:08:11'Zak said he's never seen'

0:08:11 > 0:08:12a dog jump that high.

0:08:12 > 0:08:14Come on. Rosie, come here.

0:08:14 > 0:08:16'I'm proud of Rosie.'

0:08:16 > 0:08:19She's done really well. I couldn't be more pleased with her.

0:08:19 > 0:08:22- On. Good girl!- Whoa!

0:08:22 > 0:08:23Good girl!

0:08:23 > 0:08:26I really hope we've done enough to get to the Dog House,

0:08:26 > 0:08:29cos I think she did really well.

0:08:29 > 0:08:31Some of these dogs are really awesome.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33I've been so impressed with the dogs' focus

0:08:33 > 0:08:35and I've seen some very strong relationships.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37I was starting to get a little bit worried,

0:08:37 > 0:08:39but I think we're going to be all right.

0:08:39 > 0:08:41Well, that is a relief!

0:08:41 > 0:08:45But the try-outs are not going so well for Ella and Charlie.

0:08:45 > 0:08:47They've missed their slot to see Zak.

0:08:47 > 0:08:49I couldn't make our try-out,

0:08:49 > 0:08:53because our car, sadly, broke down, so we couldn't make it.

0:08:53 > 0:08:56I was really devastated, but now I'm here, so...

0:08:56 > 0:08:59Ella now has a nervous wait for a try-out slot to become available.

0:08:59 > 0:09:03Will she ever get the chance to show off Charlie's talents?

0:09:03 > 0:09:08I think that I can win Who Let The Dogs Out? because Charlie

0:09:08 > 0:09:12is a real perseverer and he'll try to do his best every time.

0:09:12 > 0:09:14Ella's not the only one feeling the pressure.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17Nerves are getting the better of lots of the trainers

0:09:17 > 0:09:20waiting for their moment to shine in front of Zak.

0:09:20 > 0:09:23I'm really excited, because it will be a really fun opportunity,

0:09:23 > 0:09:26but I'm a bit nervous in case it all goes wrong!

0:09:26 > 0:09:29The worst thing that could probably happen is him getting overwhelmed

0:09:29 > 0:09:31and just not do anything.

0:09:31 > 0:09:34Otis, he is a little devil sometimes,

0:09:34 > 0:09:38and he doesn't do what I ask him to.

0:09:38 > 0:09:40The worst thing that could happen in front of Zak

0:09:40 > 0:09:42is if she whines like this...

0:09:42 > 0:09:45SHE WHINES ..and then she makes a mess.

0:09:45 > 0:09:47But someone who is not showing their nerves

0:09:47 > 0:09:50and using every last second to get ready for their try-out,

0:09:50 > 0:09:53is Io and her dog, Ernie.

0:09:53 > 0:09:56I'm feeling half-nervous and half-excited,

0:09:56 > 0:09:59so it's a bit like, Yay! Wargh! Yay! Wargh!

0:09:59 > 0:10:02But how will they be when they meet Zak?

0:10:05 > 0:10:07'I'm excited about meeting Zak'

0:10:07 > 0:10:10because, well, when you watch someone on TV,

0:10:10 > 0:10:11you're never really scared of them,

0:10:11 > 0:10:14'but when you meet the celebrity personally, it's quite scary.'

0:10:14 > 0:10:18But I'm excited about showing off what Ernie can do.

0:10:18 > 0:10:19ZAK CHUCKLES

0:10:19 > 0:10:22Oh, Ernie, what are you doing?!

0:10:22 > 0:10:24Oh, Ernie! Ernie!

0:10:24 > 0:10:27SHE GIGGLES

0:10:27 > 0:10:29SHE LAUGHS

0:10:30 > 0:10:33You clown! That's not real grass. SHE SIGHS

0:10:33 > 0:10:36That was part of the routine, right? That was a trick, right?

0:10:36 > 0:10:38It was on purpose.

0:10:38 > 0:10:43When Ernie went to the toilet on set, it just felt so embarrassing.

0:10:43 > 0:10:46It just felt, "Urgh!"

0:10:46 > 0:10:49It made me feel really angry and I didn't know he was going to do it.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51I thought he was house-trained.

0:10:51 > 0:10:53Tell me why you want to come to the Dog House, Io.

0:10:53 > 0:10:56I really want to come to the Dog House because I want to show Ernie's

0:10:56 > 0:11:03a really clever dog, not from, like, going to the toilet indoors.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06He's a lot more clever on the inside, aren't you, boy?

0:11:06 > 0:11:11We'll see how he can do, but I bet he is very, very clever.

0:11:11 > 0:11:14- Show me what you got.- Let's see if you can get on the trampoline.

0:11:14 > 0:11:17Ernie, up. Ernie, what's this?

0:11:17 > 0:11:19Does he already do the trampoline or not?

0:11:19 > 0:11:22Well, he likes going on the trampoline. Ernie, up.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25We've got one at home. Go on. Good boy. Up.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27Up. Up.

0:11:27 > 0:11:28Good boy, good boy!

0:11:28 > 0:11:32- Does he jump on the spot? - Mmm, not really.- OK.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34He can climb on, though.

0:11:34 > 0:11:37- So he can climb on the trampoline? - Yeah.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40That's a useful skill... in some capacity, I'm sure.

0:11:40 > 0:11:41Can you climb down here?

0:11:41 > 0:11:43'Things went well when Ernie'

0:11:43 > 0:11:46got himself onto the trampoline, and he went after the ball.

0:11:46 > 0:11:49'That was good. There were points'

0:11:49 > 0:11:51which went well. It wasn't all bad.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Ernie, Ernie! No, no, no! No, no!

0:11:53 > 0:11:55Oh, no!

0:11:55 > 0:11:56Ernie!

0:11:56 > 0:11:58SHE LAUGHS

0:11:58 > 0:11:59Oh, not again!

0:11:59 > 0:12:01'He wouldn't stop.'

0:12:01 > 0:12:03It just felt so embarrassing.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05I really like how you react, I really do.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07I know you're a little embarrassed. Don't be.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10'Ernie did his best but he's not'

0:12:10 > 0:12:12really classed as a really, like,

0:12:12 > 0:12:15"Look at me, I'm all posh and really sporty."

0:12:15 > 0:12:18'He's more of a house pet. That's why we like him.'

0:12:18 > 0:12:21Come on, come on.

0:12:21 > 0:12:25Maybe if we put the lead on him and escort him over, that might help.

0:12:25 > 0:12:27Yeah, that might.

0:12:28 > 0:12:32- Come on. Good boy.- Yeah, you did it! All right!- Good boy, good boy!

0:12:32 > 0:12:34Good boy!

0:12:34 > 0:12:35Unbelievable!

0:12:35 > 0:12:39What I look for with a trainer and their dog is that they have an

0:12:39 > 0:12:41unbelievable bond and connection,

0:12:41 > 0:12:44and you could not love him any more than you do.

0:12:44 > 0:12:46That is first and foremost,

0:12:46 > 0:12:48and that's why I really like you guys a lot.

0:12:48 > 0:12:51'Well, I wouldn't say we were perfect,'

0:12:51 > 0:12:54but Zak said he was looking for, like, bonds between

0:12:54 > 0:12:57'the trainer and the dog.' He trinkled twice!

0:12:57 > 0:13:01'He said I had a really good bond with him and was enthusiastic.'
