0:03:11 > 0:03:13What went well in our try-out

0:03:13 > 0:03:15was when Ziggy did the jumping.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17He jumped really high and was just confident.

0:03:17 > 0:03:18Very good.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21I hope I can make it into the Dog House but I'm not quite sure.

0:03:21 > 0:03:24Ziggy's a great dog. You're free to go. Thank you.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29# Who let the dogs out? #

0:03:29 > 0:03:31Thomas needn't have worried.

0:03:31 > 0:03:34Zak could tell they made a great team

0:03:34 > 0:03:38and he has a fantastic trick to teach them and the others.

0:03:38 > 0:03:39- How's everyone doing? ALL:- Good.

0:03:39 > 0:03:41Very, very good.

0:03:41 > 0:03:45Now you guys are going to be learning to teach your dogs the high jump.

0:03:46 > 0:03:49For this trick the dogs will learn to jump over a jump

0:03:49 > 0:03:51without knocking down the pole.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55At show time the bar will get higher and higher.

0:03:55 > 0:03:58The dog that clears the highest bar will be the winner

0:03:58 > 0:04:00and make it into the next round of Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:04:01 > 0:04:03# Who let the dogs out? #

0:04:04 > 0:04:08It's time for the training to begin but something's up with Ziggy.

0:04:08 > 0:04:11I notice Ziggy seems a bit nervous right now.

0:04:11 > 0:04:15- Yeah, he's heard some loud noises and he's really scared.- OK.

0:04:15 > 0:04:18We usually have to give our dogs a break in a situation like this.

0:04:18 > 0:04:22Why don't you go and take a break, and keep up the good attitude?

0:04:22 > 0:04:25Poor Thomas and Ziggy. Hopefully they can re-join the gang later.

0:04:25 > 0:04:29- Katie, how are we doing?- Good.- Let's see what you got. Start with small.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32Twilight's jumping at the try-outs really impressed Zak.

0:04:32 > 0:04:34Over.

0:04:34 > 0:04:36- Good girl. - Very nice. Easily clears it.

0:04:36 > 0:04:38Had about this much room.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41I'll to put a couple of poles up and see if she can go higher.

0:04:41 > 0:04:44It looks like Twilight's already an expert jumper.

0:04:44 > 0:04:45Go ahead.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47Twilight, over.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49- Good girl.- Unbelievable. Really, really nice.

0:04:49 > 0:04:51Good girl.

0:04:51 > 0:04:54Wow, they made that look easy.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56She's happy, she's enjoying it

0:04:56 > 0:04:58and that's what having a dog is about.

0:04:58 > 0:04:59And you get that. Very nice.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02All right, Io and Ernie.

0:05:02 > 0:05:05I'm curious to see what we have here.

0:05:05 > 0:05:08- Are you feeling optimistic? - I'm a bit nervous.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11I remember at try-outs we tried to see how good

0:05:11 > 0:05:12Ernie would be with the high jump.

0:05:12 > 0:05:15He was having no part of it.

0:05:15 > 0:05:16Let's give it a shot. Go ahead.

0:05:16 > 0:05:18Come on, come on, up, up.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21- Good boy! - Wonderful job. Very good work.

0:05:21 > 0:05:24- Good boy. - The reason I'm so excited...

0:05:24 > 0:05:27All right, we just saw Twilight clear a pretty significant height.

0:05:27 > 0:05:30Ernie just kind of stepped over it a little bit

0:05:30 > 0:05:31but why am I so excited about this?

0:05:31 > 0:05:35Because for Ernie on this particular trick, that is real progress.

0:05:35 > 0:05:37Well, it's a step in the right direction,

0:05:37 > 0:05:40but will Io and Ernie ever reach the same heady heights

0:05:40 > 0:05:45- as Katie and Twilight? - OK, you continue to work on one bar.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48Let's see if you can consistently, three times in a row,

0:05:48 > 0:05:51have Twilight jump over those bars, OK?

0:05:51 > 0:05:54So far it looks like Katie and Twilight are the ones to beat.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58Come on, over.

0:05:58 > 0:06:00Good girl.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03# Who let the dogs out? #

0:06:04 > 0:06:06While those guys are hard at work training,

0:06:06 > 0:06:08I'm going to watch some dogs jumping about

0:06:08 > 0:06:10for a completely different reason.

0:06:10 > 0:06:15Hmm. If dogs chose their own Olympic Games, what would they be?

0:06:15 > 0:06:19This is the hammer throw... With a watering can.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21Er, I think you're supposed to let go.

0:06:21 > 0:06:25Gymnastics. Oh, yes.

0:06:25 > 0:06:28Football. Of course. Great dribbling skills, look.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30But you are supposed to use your feet.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33That's why it's called FOOTball.

0:06:33 > 0:06:36This dog's taking a penalty kick.

0:06:36 > 0:06:39Look, he's trying to fool the keeper by having such a terrible football.

0:06:39 > 0:06:43Potholing is very popular. But you have to dig your own hole.

0:06:43 > 0:06:44You'll never get in there.

0:06:44 > 0:06:46Told you.

0:06:46 > 0:06:49Oh, look, the dog luge. Oh, yeah.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54And rugby, Canadian style. Oh, yes.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56Only one player per match.

0:06:56 > 0:06:57Everyone's a winner.

0:06:59 > 0:07:03Surfing with ducks is very popular in the canine world.

0:07:03 > 0:07:08But the Olympic hairstyle says it all.

0:07:08 > 0:07:09# Who let the dog out? #

0:07:11 > 0:07:14Still to come... Zak's new trick.

0:07:14 > 0:07:18And the bar is raised when the teams battle to reach the quarterfinals.

0:07:18 > 0:07:19# Who let the dogs out? #

0:07:22 > 0:07:24Good girl!

0:07:24 > 0:07:25HE LAUGHS

0:07:25 > 0:07:26Training's in full flow,

0:07:26 > 0:07:31but it looks like Thomas is still worried about poor Ziggy.

0:07:31 > 0:07:35- Er, Ziggy is over in a different area trying to calm down.- OK.

0:07:35 > 0:07:39He's relaxing but he's still really nervous. He's still shaking.

0:07:39 > 0:07:43It'll be interesting to see if he's interested in training later on.

0:07:43 > 0:07:45- But if he's not, we never push them. - Yeah.

0:07:45 > 0:07:49Dogs have to want to do it. That is the golden rule of dog training.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51Keep up the good work. Love your attitude.

0:07:51 > 0:07:53While Thomas heads off to take care of Ziggy,

0:07:53 > 0:07:58Zak notices that Ernie's beginning to lose interest in the high jump.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02I want to see if you can really, really get Ernie's energy up.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Do whatever you have to do. If you've got to act ridiculous, do it.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08- Know what I mean?- Yeah.- You smile because you're good at it.

0:08:08 > 0:08:09SHE GIGGLES

0:08:09 > 0:08:11Who's a good boy?

0:08:11 > 0:08:12Watch that tail - we're looking for that,

0:08:12 > 0:08:14that's our thermometer here, to see...

0:08:14 > 0:08:18- There we go! Look at him, he's playing.- Here we go!

0:08:18 > 0:08:21Whoo! Yes!

0:08:21 > 0:08:24That's a play bark. You can tell by his body language he's happy.

0:08:24 > 0:08:29- Come on, up, up.- Yeah, good dog! - Yeah, good dog!- Very nice.

0:08:29 > 0:08:34Come on, let's go! Yeah! That's mega-good. Keep it going.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36Wow, it's working!

0:08:36 > 0:08:40Yes, three in a row! Very good.

0:08:40 > 0:08:43Io's going to need a lie down after all this.

0:08:43 > 0:08:45- Come on, let's go.- Come on!

0:08:45 > 0:08:48- Arrrrgh!- Come on!

0:08:48 > 0:08:50- And so's Zak!- What's this?

0:08:50 > 0:08:55- Come on. Come on, Ernie, - Oh!- Let him know you love it.

0:08:55 > 0:08:57Even tiring for me.

0:08:57 > 0:09:00Oh, where's he gone?

0:09:00 > 0:09:01That's what it takes.

0:09:01 > 0:09:04You've got to act silly, but you've got to reach deep.

0:09:04 > 0:09:06Your dog has to know you're willing to play

0:09:06 > 0:09:08before they're willing to play sometimes.

0:09:08 > 0:09:11OK, Katie and Twilight, I see we've already got five bars,

0:09:11 > 0:09:13so we're going for six bars now.

0:09:13 > 0:09:15Six?! Don't let Ernie see that.

0:09:15 > 0:09:18- In your own time, whenever you're ready.- Ready, ready, ready?

0:09:18 > 0:09:24- Go! Good girl.- Oh, wow, very good. A little tougher.

0:09:24 > 0:09:27We always want to make sure we end a training session on a high note,

0:09:27 > 0:09:29especially training like this right now,

0:09:29 > 0:09:32and I think that's really good for you.

0:09:32 > 0:09:34SHE LAUGHS

0:09:34 > 0:09:38Ernie! Aw, I love you, boy.

0:09:38 > 0:09:41All right, guys, you have one week to really get this nailed.

0:09:41 > 0:09:45So keep it fun, and we'll see you back here. All right? Bye.

0:09:45 > 0:09:46- Bye!- Bye!

0:09:46 > 0:09:50The teams have plenty of work before they return next week.

0:09:50 > 0:09:52Come on. What's this? What's this?

0:09:54 > 0:09:58And for Thomas and Ziggy, there's some serious catching up to do.

0:09:58 > 0:10:00I was a little disappointed

0:10:00 > 0:10:03that we weren't able to do more in the training session,

0:10:03 > 0:10:06but as long as Zig's happy, that's the main thing to me.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08Went really well today.

0:10:08 > 0:10:12Twilight is a very good jumper, very strong muscles.

0:10:12 > 0:10:16We're really pleased with the trick we got. We have an advantage now.

0:10:16 > 0:10:21He was quite rubbish at the start, but then Ernie improved a lot more.

0:10:21 > 0:10:25He jumped in the end and that's a good thing, a sign of improvement.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28I've got confidence. Ernie's going to do it, I know it.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30Oh, all right then, boy.

0:10:30 > 0:10:34Twilight, Ernie and Ziggy are three really unique dogs.

0:10:34 > 0:10:37Let's see what makes them special in their own way.

0:10:38 > 0:10:42First up, we've got two-year-old Twilight, the Labrador retriever.

0:10:42 > 0:10:44She loves dancing and playing hide-and-seek.

0:10:44 > 0:10:47Labrador retrievers are usually very active dogs

0:10:47 > 0:10:50that love to jump about

0:10:50 > 0:10:52and this could give Twilight a real advantage.

0:10:52 > 0:10:55Ernie is a three-year-old, Hungarian wirehaired vizsla.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58He loves gravy bones and swimming

0:10:58 > 0:11:00pretty handy, really,

0:11:00 > 0:11:02cos his breed have waterproof coats!

0:11:02 > 0:11:05Vizslas are usually very energetic,

0:11:05 > 0:11:08but Ernie loves sleeping in front of the fire!

0:11:08 > 0:11:12Last, but not least, is Ziggy, a two-year-old Border collie,

0:11:12 > 0:11:15who, true to his breed, is super-smart,

0:11:15 > 0:11:17loves playing and NEVER gets tired.

0:11:17 > 0:11:20Ziggy is scared of loud noises, though,

0:11:20 > 0:11:22but will he put his fears to one side

0:11:22 > 0:11:26to concentrate on this high-flying stunt? Hmm...

0:11:26 > 0:11:29# Who let the dogs out? #

0:11:33 > 0:11:34Show time is just one week away,

0:11:34 > 0:11:36and with a place in the quarter-finals at stake,

0:11:36 > 0:11:38everyone's giving it their all.

0:11:38 > 0:11:41The teams have returned, and Zak wants to make sure

0:11:41 > 0:11:44that Thomas and Ziggy have a chance to catch up

0:11:44 > 0:11:47on the training they missed last time around.

0:11:47 > 0:11:48Hey, guys! How's everyone doing?

0:11:48 > 0:11:50- ALL:- Good.

0:11:50 > 0:11:53Really good! High-jumping is looking fantastic here.

0:11:53 > 0:11:56Why don't you two take a break, I'll work with Thomas and Ziggy.

0:11:58 > 0:11:59Nice work, cos...

0:11:59 > 0:12:01That's OK, that's OK.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04Tell me how you feel training has gone,

0:12:04 > 0:12:06- because last time you had some issues.- We did.

0:12:06 > 0:12:09And then, in practice, how did that go after he left here?

0:12:09 > 0:12:11It went really well, actually.

0:12:11 > 0:12:14We got him back and he jumped, like, five or six poles,

0:12:14 > 0:12:16which was going really well.

0:12:16 > 0:12:17Yes! Good boy.

0:12:17 > 0:12:19- Let's go up a bit here.- OK.

0:12:19 > 0:12:22I can tell you straight off the bat, Thomas, where you need to improve,

0:12:22 > 0:12:24because you've got an amazing dog -

0:12:24 > 0:12:26and you are doing terrific, by the way.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29You've got to amp up your energy, make this a game.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32- Does your dog play tug-of-war? - Yes, he does.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35- Grab that tug toy over there. - What's this? Come on.

0:12:35 > 0:12:37Look at how your dog just lit up right now.

0:12:37 > 0:12:40Get him amped up with the tug toy. Good.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44And then send him over, run with him, show him some energy, keep it happy.

0:12:44 > 0:12:47- Easily clears it, reward your dog with a tug toy right there.- Good boy!

0:12:47 > 0:12:49Fantastic job!

0:12:49 > 0:12:54Wow! Looks like Thomas and Ziggy are right back in the game.

0:12:54 > 0:12:56I wonder how Katie and Twilight are doing.

0:12:56 > 0:12:59I would say, if she clears this I would be just amazed.

0:12:59 > 0:13:02Good girl.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05We only had six last week and now we have nine - maybe. We'll see.

0:13:05 > 0:13:07Over! Over! Good girl.

0:13:07 > 0:13:09Whoa! Unbelievable! Did you see that, guys?

0:13:09 > 0:13:11Wo-ow-ow!

0:13:11 > 0:13:13We've got ourselves a competition right here.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16Katie and Twilight are still the firm favourites.

0:13:16 > 0:13:20Do Io and Ernie have any chance of catching up?

0:13:20 > 0:13:21He's doing, like, six or seven now,

0:13:21 > 0:13:25- compared to the two he was doing last time.- No way.

0:13:25 > 0:13:28- Yes, way!- Are you serious?! Really, seven?

0:13:28 > 0:13:31- Yep.- Let's see if we can get three here though, Io.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34Ernie, come here. Sit.

0:13:34 > 0:13:36Six or seven? Could that be true?

0:13:36 > 0:13:37Come! Over!

0:13:39 > 0:13:41Easily clears it - by a substantial margin.

0:13:41 > 0:13:43Do you know, you might be right.

0:13:43 > 0:13:45Let me grab some more bars. Ready to try this again?

0:13:45 > 0:13:48- Go ahead and get back in position. - Stay.

0:13:48 > 0:13:50OK, that's seven.

0:13:50 > 0:13:51All right.

0:13:51 > 0:13:54- Stay.- I mean, look at how high this is.

0:13:54 > 0:13:56- Come, over!- Good luck, Ernie.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00Unbelievable!

0:14:00 > 0:14:02Wow! Are we seeing the same dog?

0:14:02 > 0:14:05I mean, this is probably the most dramatic improvement

0:14:05 > 0:14:09I can remember seeing in a one-week time frame

0:14:09 > 0:14:13- on a trick on this show, ever. - Ernie has just become a contender.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15I just wish someone would ask Io

0:14:15 > 0:14:17how she got such a massive improvement out of Ernie...

0:14:17 > 0:14:22Io, how did you get such a massive improvement out of Ernie?

0:14:22 > 0:14:23Thanks, Zak!

0:14:23 > 0:14:28Well, I brought up a new tactic of getting him to sit with a run-up.

0:14:28 > 0:14:33I'm at the other side, and I tell him, "Ernie, come! Over!"

0:14:33 > 0:14:36And then he just comes over and jumps easily.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38Really, really good work so far.

0:14:38 > 0:14:41All right, guys, you have one more week to practise with this.

0:14:41 > 0:14:44Just keep up the good work, I'm really proud of you.

0:14:44 > 0:14:48- All right, why don't you get back to training? Bye, guys! ALL:- Bye!

0:14:48 > 0:14:50High-jumping isn't just jumping over a bar, you know.

0:14:50 > 0:14:52There's real skill in this trick.

0:14:52 > 0:14:56Here are Zak's five steps to successful high-jumping.

0:14:57 > 0:15:031 - start low and encourage your dog over the jump using a treat.

0:15:03 > 0:15:072 - use a running start to help your dog clear the jump more easily.

0:15:07 > 0:15:153 - gradually raise the bar to find a jump your dog can clear every time

0:15:15 > 0:15:184 - If your dog doesn't make the jump,

0:15:18 > 0:15:21lower the bar one level and try again.

0:15:21 > 0:15:245 - keep up the energy. Make it fun

0:15:24 > 0:15:27and your dog will soon be jumping for joy.

0:15:27 > 0:15:30I think me and Ziggy are really serious contenders

0:15:30 > 0:15:32to get through to the next round.

0:15:32 > 0:15:34Our only competition will be Twilight,

0:15:34 > 0:15:36because they're just so good.

0:15:36 > 0:15:40For the finale, I'm a bit worried because now

0:15:40 > 0:15:45seeing Ziggy, he's very confident and at ease doing them at height.

0:15:45 > 0:15:47Ernie's improved massively since last week.

0:15:47 > 0:15:49He's like a shooting star or something now,

0:15:49 > 0:15:54but I've still got a bit of competition with Ziggy and Twilight.

0:15:59 > 0:16:02We teach our dogs tricks because they're fun, they're cool

0:16:02 > 0:16:04and sometimes they are downright incredible.

0:16:04 > 0:16:07But remember, the real reason we teach them

0:16:07 > 0:16:09is because it brings us closer together.

0:16:09 > 0:16:10Come on in, Nellie!

0:16:12 > 0:16:16Hey, girl. How are you today? You look stunning.

0:16:16 > 0:16:19Today, I'll show you how to teach your dog to walk backwards.

0:16:19 > 0:16:21All right, girl. So stand in front of me.

0:16:21 > 0:16:24I'm going to lure her over here. Very good, Nellie.

0:16:24 > 0:16:27With the treat, I encourage her to walk backwards.

0:16:27 > 0:16:29No, that's cute, but not what I'm looking for.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32By the way, that's completely normal.

0:16:32 > 0:16:35Our dogs will often say, "What do I already know that gets me a treat?"

0:16:35 > 0:16:37Don't be discouraged. They're just thinking.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40No, not lie down. Come here. Come on, Nellie. Good!

0:16:40 > 0:16:42Let's back up. Yes, good! Very good!

0:16:42 > 0:16:44She took one step back right there

0:16:44 > 0:16:46and I want to let her know that's fantastic.

0:16:46 > 0:16:48You're on the right track. Come here.

0:16:48 > 0:16:50This way forwards. Good.

0:16:50 > 0:16:53Now, let's see if we can get her to walk backwards. Oh, look at her go!

0:16:53 > 0:16:56Fantastic, Nellie. Over here.

0:16:56 > 0:16:59Very good. Ready? Let's try it. Back up, back up, back up!

0:16:59 > 0:17:02Wow, she has really taken to this one good.

0:17:02 > 0:17:06All right, Nellie, here we go. Ready? Back up, back up, back up.

0:17:06 > 0:17:10Oh, you are looking fantastic. Forward, forward, forward.

0:17:10 > 0:17:15Teach your dog to back up today. It's a lot of fun. Good girl, Nellie.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17# Who let the dogs out? #

0:17:19 > 0:17:21It might be hard work training dogs,

0:17:21 > 0:17:24but our dogs do seem to love it.

0:17:24 > 0:17:28In fact, even dogs with real jobs seem to love what they do.

0:17:31 > 0:17:35This is a sheepdog. Sheepdogs are always black and white, right?

0:17:35 > 0:17:40Wrong! No! There are actually more than 70 different herding breeds

0:17:40 > 0:17:42all over the world.

0:17:42 > 0:17:47Tall ones, skinny ones, and even shaggy ones like this.

0:17:47 > 0:17:50Now, this sheepdog thinks he has his work cut out,

0:17:50 > 0:17:52herding seven sheep.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54But try herding 8,000!

0:17:54 > 0:17:57In Australia, sheep farms can be massive

0:17:57 > 0:18:00and farmers need a very special sheepdog.

0:18:00 > 0:18:03Introducing the Australian kelpie.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06These guys are like the superheroes of the sheepdog world.

0:18:06 > 0:18:10Check this out. That's one way to get to the front of the queue!

0:18:10 > 0:18:12It's called backing.

0:18:12 > 0:18:15The main purpose of going over their backs is to get to the front

0:18:15 > 0:18:18of the mob. That's where they naturally want to be.

0:18:18 > 0:18:21Dogs will back naturally. It's something that's in them.

0:18:21 > 0:18:25They'll automatically want to get up on top and bark

0:18:25 > 0:18:27and travel to the front, over the top.

0:18:27 > 0:18:31Time for a break and a cool bath. Then it's back to work.

0:18:31 > 0:18:348,000 sheep won't herd themselves, you know!

0:18:37 > 0:18:39# Who let the dogs out? #

0:18:40 > 0:18:42Two weeks' intensive training is over

0:18:42 > 0:18:45and it's time for our three trainers to battle it out

0:18:45 > 0:18:47for a place in the quarterfinals.

0:18:53 > 0:18:56The stakes are high and with just one place up for grabs,

0:18:56 > 0:18:58nothing is guaranteed.

0:18:58 > 0:19:01Training at home this week went OK

0:19:01 > 0:19:04up until about Wednesday.

0:19:04 > 0:19:07But then she's getting bored of it now.

0:19:07 > 0:19:09It could go either way, so we'll just hope for the best.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12Who will keep their focus?

0:19:12 > 0:19:15I'm quietly confident we can get through to the next round.

0:19:15 > 0:19:17Even though there is stiff competition,

0:19:17 > 0:19:20we've done really well over the past two weeks.

0:19:20 > 0:19:22Who will jump their way into the quarterfinal?

0:19:22 > 0:19:25If I got through to the next round with Ernie,

0:19:25 > 0:19:27I'd be over the moon

0:19:27 > 0:19:29because Ernie is unpredictable

0:19:29 > 0:19:32and no-one will really expect him to get through.

0:19:34 > 0:19:35It's time to find out.

0:19:37 > 0:19:38# Who let the dogs out? #

0:19:41 > 0:19:45It's show time and our high-jumping dogs are on standby,

0:19:45 > 0:19:46ready to leap into action.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49Now this is the high jump and once all three dogs have cleared

0:19:49 > 0:19:52the bar, we are going to raise it higher and higher.

0:19:52 > 0:19:54Now if a dog knocks down the bar,

0:19:54 > 0:19:56they will have two more chances to clear it.

0:19:56 > 0:19:59So if they clear it on their second or third attempt,

0:19:59 > 0:20:00they stay in the competition.

0:20:00 > 0:20:02If they don't clear it after three attempts?

0:20:02 > 0:20:04Well, they are out of the competition.

0:20:04 > 0:20:08The winner will of course be the dog that clears the highest jump

0:20:08 > 0:20:11and only they will move on to the quarterfinals.

0:20:11 > 0:20:13Let's get those high-jumpers out here.

0:20:14 > 0:20:18Katie and Twilight have been almost unstoppable since training began,

0:20:18 > 0:20:21but now Katie's worried that Twilight could be losing interest.

0:20:21 > 0:20:24Have they peaked too soon?

0:20:24 > 0:20:26The bar is set at 60cm,

0:20:26 > 0:20:29but what will Katie use to encourage Twilight over the jump.

0:20:29 > 0:20:33The Frisbee? The ball? No, it's food.

0:20:33 > 0:20:37Easily clearing it. Wonderful job! Thomas and Ziggy, come on.

0:20:37 > 0:20:40It was a disastrous start for Thomas and Ziggy

0:20:40 > 0:20:43when they missed the first day of training.

0:20:43 > 0:20:45But they've come back stronger and are serious contenders

0:20:45 > 0:20:48for that quarterfinal spot.

0:20:49 > 0:20:54No food for Ziggy, but he knows that that squeaky red bone

0:20:54 > 0:20:56is all his if he can clear that bar.

0:20:56 > 0:20:59Incredible focus. He made it over there. This is very impressive.

0:20:59 > 0:21:03Io and Ernie, come on out here. Show me what you got.

0:21:03 > 0:21:06The clear underdogs in the competition,

0:21:06 > 0:21:09Io and Ernie, took a while to get going.

0:21:09 > 0:21:13But once Ernie found his groove, there was no stopping him.

0:21:13 > 0:21:17Do they have one more surprise, when it really matters?

0:21:17 > 0:21:18Stay.

0:21:20 > 0:21:22- Come! Over!- Wow!

0:21:22 > 0:21:25Excellent job, Ernie. Fantastic work.

0:21:25 > 0:21:29All three dogs made THAT look like a walk in the park!

0:21:29 > 0:21:31Time to get serious.

0:21:31 > 0:21:33The bar goes up to 80cm

0:21:33 > 0:21:37and Katie's now using a tennis ball to encourage Twilight over the jump.

0:21:37 > 0:21:41Clever stuff. That way Twilight won't get bored.

0:21:41 > 0:21:43Wow!

0:21:43 > 0:21:47And in slow motion too! Clever dog.

0:21:47 > 0:21:50- Oh, my goodness!- Come on! Good girl!

0:21:50 > 0:21:54Can Ziggy keep the contest alive by matching Twilight's effort?

0:21:54 > 0:21:56OK.

0:21:58 > 0:22:00Yes, he can!

0:22:00 > 0:22:04Oh, my goodness! Ziggy, looking amazing!

0:22:04 > 0:22:06Stay.

0:22:06 > 0:22:08Come on, Ernie. You can do this.

0:22:08 > 0:22:09Come! Over!

0:22:14 > 0:22:16And that is our first knock down.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19Don't worry, you've still got two attempts left.

0:22:19 > 0:22:22And Io's going for a longer run-up this time.

0:22:22 > 0:22:24Come! Over!

0:22:25 > 0:22:27Ooh!

0:22:27 > 0:22:28Stay.

0:22:28 > 0:22:31Could this be Ernie's last leap?

0:22:31 > 0:22:33Io's looking nervous.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36Come! Over!

0:22:36 > 0:22:37Come on!

0:22:39 > 0:22:41Oh, just missed!

0:22:41 > 0:22:42- Ooh!- That's OK.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45You guys have nothing to be ashamed of, Io.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47You did incredible. Think about how far you came.

0:22:47 > 0:22:51- You did amazing. Go and take your seat. Nice work.- Come on, boy.

0:22:51 > 0:22:53It might be all over for Io and Ernie,

0:22:53 > 0:22:57but for the others, the contest is just getting started.

0:22:57 > 0:23:03When both dogs clear 100cm, Zak has to build a bigger jump.

0:23:03 > 0:23:08For Thomas and Ziggy, it's another easy clearance.

0:23:08 > 0:23:10- Good boy!- You've got to be kidding me!

0:23:10 > 0:23:15For Katie and Twilight, disaster strikes.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18That is your first knock down. You have two more attempts at this.

0:23:18 > 0:23:23Could Twilight be losing interest, just as Katie feared?

0:23:25 > 0:23:31O-ho! 110cm, unbelievable!

0:23:32 > 0:23:34The bar is raised to 120cm.

0:23:34 > 0:23:37That's nearly as tall as Zak!

0:23:38 > 0:23:40My heart is racing right now.

0:23:40 > 0:23:42Go, go, go! Come on, come on!

0:23:42 > 0:23:45Wow!

0:23:45 > 0:23:47Good girl! Oh, well done!

0:23:47 > 0:23:49Well done, Twilight.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51I am in disbelief. I cannot believe

0:23:51 > 0:23:53you guys have gotten this high, this quickly.

0:23:53 > 0:23:57Neither can Thomas. The competition is definitely on for him.

0:23:57 > 0:24:01Wait. Wait.

0:24:01 > 0:24:02OK!

0:24:04 > 0:24:08That is Thomas and Ziggy's first knock down. Two more attempts.

0:24:08 > 0:24:10Wait.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13Wait. OK!

0:24:17 > 0:24:20- Yes! Good boy!- What?! You've got to be kidding me!

0:24:20 > 0:24:23Did you see that extra effort that Ziggy made

0:24:23 > 0:24:25to get over the bar? Incredible!

0:24:25 > 0:24:30The bar goes up again, this time to 130cm.

0:24:30 > 0:24:32Come on, Twilight!

0:24:32 > 0:24:35If you can do this, you deserve free treats for life.

0:24:37 > 0:24:39Knocking down two bars. That's OK, though.

0:24:39 > 0:24:41It's all about timing on this one.

0:24:43 > 0:24:46Katie's looking really focused for this second attempt.

0:24:46 > 0:24:48Come on, come on!

0:24:48 > 0:24:51Come on, over!

0:24:51 > 0:24:54- That's all right. This is really challenging.- Good girl.

0:24:54 > 0:24:58If Twilight misses this time, it's over to Thomas and Ziggy.

0:24:58 > 0:25:00Come on, come on!

0:25:01 > 0:25:04Oh, so close!

0:25:04 > 0:25:08- Oh, much better! Much better. Still knocks it down.- Well done!

0:25:08 > 0:25:10It looks like Twilight has finally reached her limit

0:25:10 > 0:25:14and for Thomas and Ziggy, it's the same story.

0:25:14 > 0:25:17When Ziggy also fails to clear the bar in three attempts...

0:25:17 > 0:25:19So close! He tried so hard on that.

0:25:19 > 0:25:24..it's all square. But Zak has to find a winner.

0:25:24 > 0:25:25We have a tie today.

0:25:25 > 0:25:28So we're going to have to go into our tie-break scenario.

0:25:28 > 0:25:31Ooh, nail-biting time!

0:25:31 > 0:25:35The bar's lowered to 120cm once more

0:25:35 > 0:25:37and now it's sudden death.

0:25:37 > 0:25:41If Katie and Twilight fail to clear the bar,

0:25:41 > 0:25:42Thomas and Ziggy could steal it.

0:25:46 > 0:25:49- You cleared 120cm, you are still alive in the competition.- Good girl!

0:25:49 > 0:25:54Thomas and Ziggy, get up here. Let's see what you can do.

0:25:54 > 0:25:57This is it. If Ziggy clears the bar,

0:25:57 > 0:25:59both teams will go again.

0:25:59 > 0:26:01If he fails, they're out

0:26:01 > 0:26:04and that quarterfinal place will go to Katie and Twilight.

0:26:06 > 0:26:08Here he comes.

0:26:08 > 0:26:09But what's he doing?

0:26:09 > 0:26:11He's refused the jump

0:26:11 > 0:26:14and Katie and Twilight have just been handed the victory.

0:26:14 > 0:26:18Wow, a shocker right at the finish.

0:26:18 > 0:26:20You put up a great fight. Be very proud of Ziggy.

0:26:20 > 0:26:22Show him some love over here.

0:26:22 > 0:26:25# Who let the dogs out? #

0:26:27 > 0:26:31What a thrilling, exciting competition we had here.

0:26:31 > 0:26:33It came down to a tie-breaker today.

0:26:33 > 0:26:35All of you had such dramatic improvement.

0:26:35 > 0:26:39Obviously, our winner is Katie and Twilight.

0:26:39 > 0:26:41You will advance to the next round

0:26:41 > 0:26:44and you are so right to be excited. Tell me how you feel about this.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47Amazing, because I think she's really worked for it

0:26:47 > 0:26:49and I think everybody here would be worthy.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52But on the day, it's just how they go, isn't it?

0:26:52 > 0:26:56I'm happy with each and every one of you. Give your dogs some love.

0:26:56 > 0:26:58- Let them know what a great job they did.- Good girl! Well done!

0:26:58 > 0:27:00Who's the best doggie?

0:27:00 > 0:27:03So Katie and Twilight will move on to the quarterfinals.

0:27:03 > 0:27:06Next time, three more trainers and their dogs will compete

0:27:06 > 0:27:10for their spot in the quarterfinals with another amazing stunt.

0:27:10 > 0:27:12Don't miss it!

0:27:13 > 0:27:16Next time, James and Delta, Isaac and Barney,

0:27:16 > 0:27:17and Jake and Ice get set
