0:00:49 > 0:00:53# Who let the dogs out? Who, who, who?
0:00:53 > 0:00:56# Who let the dogs out? Who, who who?
0:00:56 > 0:01:00# Who let the dogs out? #

0:01:05 > 0:01:08Three new trainers catapult their way to success,
0:01:08 > 0:01:11and Zak teaches Nelly another quick trick.
0:01:13 > 0:01:17Hundreds of young trainers from all over the UK applied,
0:01:17 > 0:01:21but only 27 dedicated trainers and their dogs were chosen
0:01:21 > 0:01:24to come here - to the Dog House.
0:01:24 > 0:01:26Today, Esther and Daisy, Isobel and Magic
0:01:26 > 0:01:29and Daniel and Todd are going to be put to the test.
0:01:29 > 0:01:33Let's find out why these teams wowed me at the try-outs.
0:01:36 > 0:01:40This time on Who Let the Dogs Out?, there's only going to be one,
0:01:40 > 0:01:43ultimate, top dog trainer in the whole series.
0:01:43 > 0:01:47That means the try-outs were even busier and even tougher.
0:01:47 > 0:01:51My name is Esther and I come from Shrewsbury.
0:01:51 > 0:01:53This is Daisy and she's a Jack Russell cross.
0:01:53 > 0:01:55Fetch!
0:01:57 > 0:01:59Nice work!
0:01:59 > 0:02:01- Fetch!- Pretty good.
0:02:01 > 0:02:04Me and Daisy have worked so hard
0:02:04 > 0:02:07and it would be really good to get in to the Dog House.
0:02:07 > 0:02:12- You have delighted me today. You have done very, very well.- Thank you.
0:02:14 > 0:02:18My name's Daniel. This is my dog - Todd - and he's a border collie.
0:02:18 > 0:02:21Play dead. Good boy!
0:02:21 > 0:02:23I'm feeling very excited about the try-outs.
0:02:23 > 0:02:26I think me and Todd can do a pretty good job at it.
0:02:26 > 0:02:28Look at his tail! Yeah, look at that!
0:02:28 > 0:02:31Todd and me have been training very hard
0:02:31 > 0:02:33and I think I will be the top dog trainer.
0:02:33 > 0:02:36- Thank you very much. - Thank you.- Good work!
0:02:36 > 0:02:40My name is Isobel. My dog's name is Magic, and we come from Essex.
0:02:41 > 0:02:44I really, really want to make it to the Dog House
0:02:44 > 0:02:47because I'd love to teach Magic some new tricks.
0:02:47 > 0:02:51I've been training him twice a week for about two hours,
0:02:51 > 0:02:55- so he knows all the tricks. - Keep up the good work!- Thank you.
0:03:00 > 0:03:03Zak decided all three trainers were good enough for the Dog House
0:03:03 > 0:03:06and they impressed him so much, he decided to test them
0:03:06 > 0:03:09with one of his most difficult challenges yet!
0:03:09 > 0:03:12Right! Boy, your dogs are ready to go here.
0:03:12 > 0:03:15- Are you guys really excited about what we're going today?- Yes.- Yes.
0:03:15 > 0:03:19Me too. Today, you guys are going to learn
0:03:19 > 0:03:23how to teach your dogs to load and fire a catapult.
0:03:23 > 0:03:25Oh, no!
0:03:25 > 0:03:27- Who said that?- Me.- But why?
0:03:27 > 0:03:31- He'll never be able to do that.- Why don't you think he's going to do it?
0:03:31 > 0:03:34Once he has the ball in his mouth, I have to treat him to a treat
0:03:34 > 0:03:38- to drop it.- You need to have more faith than that, Daniel.
0:03:38 > 0:03:41For this stunt, the dogs will learn to place a ball
0:03:41 > 0:03:44in the catapult cup, launch the catapult,
0:03:44 > 0:03:48retrieve the ball and bring it all the way back to the catapult.
0:03:48 > 0:03:52At Show Time, the dog that fires the balls the furthest,
0:03:52 > 0:03:55and retrieves them, will gain the most points.
0:03:55 > 0:03:58Plus, 20 extra points will be awarded
0:03:58 > 0:04:00every time the dog loads the catapult themselves.
0:04:03 > 0:04:06Basically, I want you to think of this stunt in two parts.
0:04:06 > 0:04:09We have launching the catapult and then we have loading the catapult.
0:04:09 > 0:04:14The first thing we're going to do is focus on how to load the catapult.
0:04:14 > 0:04:17You'll notice we have these bowls in front of your catapults here.
0:04:17 > 0:04:20So, we're going to teach our dogs to drop a ball in the largest bowl
0:04:20 > 0:04:23and then, hopefully, down to the smallest bowl.
0:04:23 > 0:04:26I'm going to start with you, Isobel and Magic. Just do a light fetch
0:04:26 > 0:04:28and ask him to bring it back. Here's what I want you to do!
0:04:28 > 0:04:32When he brings it back, rather than taking it with your hand,
0:04:32 > 0:04:35I want you to try and catch it with the bowl. That's the first thing.
0:04:35 > 0:04:38- OK.- Does that make sense?- Yeah, sure.- OK, let's try it.
0:04:38 > 0:04:39- Magic, fetch!- Nice throw.
0:04:39 > 0:04:43- Very good. And get the ball. - Magic!- Good! Look at this!
0:04:43 > 0:04:45- Magic!- And encourage him to let go.
0:04:45 > 0:04:49- Magic, leave. Magic, leave. Good boy!- That's good, that's good.
0:04:49 > 0:04:52Once the dogs learn to drop the ball into the smallest bowl,
0:04:52 > 0:04:54they'll be ready to load the catapult
0:04:54 > 0:04:56and, at Show Time, that will win them 20 points
0:04:56 > 0:04:58every time they manage it.
0:04:58 > 0:05:01Continue working on that. I'm going to move on to Daniel and Todd,
0:05:01 > 0:05:02while you guys work on that, OK?
0:05:02 > 0:05:05Did you see what we just did? I'd like you to try that with Todd.
0:05:05 > 0:05:07So, go ahead and throw it!
0:05:07 > 0:05:09Fetch it, Todd! Fetch it!
0:05:09 > 0:05:12Toddy, come! Come, Toddy!
0:05:13 > 0:05:17- He just drops it anywhere.- I see. Does he always do that?- Hmm.
0:05:17 > 0:05:20We've got a long way to go on this one. Go ahead and keep him on leash.
0:05:20 > 0:05:23I want you to try practising this and at very short range.
0:05:23 > 0:05:26- Do you know what I mean?- Yep. Todd. Toddy, come!
0:05:26 > 0:05:28He's demonstrating, I don't feel like bringing it back to you.
0:05:28 > 0:05:31We have to let our dogs know, "I'll play with you all day.
0:05:31 > 0:05:33"You just have to play by the rules and play right.
0:05:33 > 0:05:35So, that's what your objective is here.
0:05:35 > 0:05:37So, just work right here. OK.
0:05:37 > 0:05:39Now, Esther. Does Daisy like playing with the ball?
0:05:39 > 0:05:42- She does. Yeah. - She does. All right. Very good.
0:05:42 > 0:05:44Let's go ahead and practise this. See if you can throw the ball.
0:05:44 > 0:05:46Let's see if you can get her
0:05:46 > 0:05:48- to somehow put it in that giant bowl there.- OK.
0:05:48 > 0:05:51It's not as easy as it looks. It really isn't.
0:05:51 > 0:05:53Daisy, drop!
0:05:53 > 0:05:56- Yes, very good!- Good girl!
0:05:56 > 0:05:58Not as easy as it looks!
0:05:58 > 0:06:00Daisy's just done it!
0:06:00 > 0:06:02- Good girl!- Very good. Nice work.
0:06:02 > 0:06:04That's how you do it.
0:06:04 > 0:06:07Keep that rhythm going and you'll have this taught in no time.
0:06:07 > 0:06:09You guys are doing absolutely wonderful at this.
0:06:09 > 0:06:11Remember, the hardest part about this trick
0:06:11 > 0:06:15is teaching our dogs to drop the ball into the catapult launcher.
0:06:15 > 0:06:17You're going to have to work exceptionally hard on this.
0:06:17 > 0:06:21Keep working and I'll be back in a bit. All right?
0:06:24 > 0:06:26Training is a lot of fun,
0:06:26 > 0:06:29but sometimes you've just got to mess about and let loose.
0:06:29 > 0:06:30Here are some dogs doing just that.
0:06:34 > 0:06:38Hey, ever wondered what dogs got up to in the olden days?
0:06:38 > 0:06:40Well, here they are!
0:06:40 > 0:06:42Dogs had to have their paws cleaned by hand every day
0:06:42 > 0:06:45and you had to jump through hoops to get anywhere.
0:06:45 > 0:06:49It helped to keep in your trainer's good books - urgh!
0:06:49 > 0:06:53And if you were really lucky, you got your own giant can of dog food.
0:06:53 > 0:06:58In those days, people and dogs could go super slow.
0:06:58 > 0:07:01And every dog had his own bicycle.
0:07:01 > 0:07:04Ugrh! Are you two still at it?
0:07:04 > 0:07:09Check this out, but notice the dog audience, very well behaved.
0:07:10 > 0:07:12Here, a man dances with a dog.
0:07:14 > 0:07:17Dog dancing was big back then.
0:07:17 > 0:07:20Look, will you two please stop? Thank you.
0:07:20 > 0:07:22Coming through.
0:07:22 > 0:07:24Time's up, back in the TARDIS!
0:07:28 > 0:07:31Still to come... Zak's quick trick.
0:07:31 > 0:07:35And high drama when the teams go head to head.
0:07:35 > 0:07:39The team that will advance to the quarter finals is...
0:07:43 > 0:07:45An hour into training and Zak is back
0:07:45 > 0:07:48to see if the teams are any closer to getting their dogs
0:07:48 > 0:07:50to drop the ball into those bowls.
0:07:50 > 0:07:53I cannot believe how well you guys are doing.
0:07:53 > 0:07:56Look at all the progress you've made in just the past hour.
0:07:56 > 0:07:58Esther and Daisy are clearly the strongest so far.
0:07:58 > 0:08:00Daniel and Todd still have a long way to go.
0:08:00 > 0:08:05As for Isobel, she's got much bigger problems on her hands.
0:08:05 > 0:08:07Magic really, really loves tennis balls.
0:08:07 > 0:08:09He likes chewing them.
0:08:09 > 0:08:12And he got through eight balls.
0:08:12 > 0:08:14And chewed them all.
0:08:14 > 0:08:16Eating the balls instead of loading them
0:08:16 > 0:08:18could be disastrous at Show Time.
0:08:18 > 0:08:22- Magic really likes tennis balls, doesn't he?- Yeah.- Yeah.
0:08:22 > 0:08:26Right now, we're going to move on to actually how to launch the catapult,
0:08:26 > 0:08:29- which should be interesting. Are you ready to do that?- Yeah.
0:08:29 > 0:08:31Now, let's encourage him over here.
0:08:31 > 0:08:34Rather than just put the ball in there,
0:08:34 > 0:08:36encourage him to put his paws here.
0:08:36 > 0:08:39- Magic! Paw.- Yes. Good. Now reward with the ball, like that.
0:08:39 > 0:08:42So, the faster you do this, the more rhythm you keep,
0:08:42 > 0:08:45the faster this trick gets taught. Just teach your dog
0:08:45 > 0:08:48to push this down like this. If they do it in the slightest,
0:08:48 > 0:08:51just throw the ball towards them. Encourage them to bring it back.
0:08:51 > 0:08:53- Yeah.- Let's get working.
0:08:53 > 0:08:56I'm going to come over here to Esther.
0:08:56 > 0:09:00- And Daisy...- Mm. Will Daisy be any good at this part of the trick?
0:09:00 > 0:09:04- Daisy!- You got your ball? Whoa, yeah. Throw it. Good. Yes.
0:09:04 > 0:09:06Oh yes. Go, Daisy!
0:09:06 > 0:09:09Go ahead and put it in the launcher and see what we can do.
0:09:09 > 0:09:13- Daisy!- Looks like star pupil Daisy might have this in bag.
0:09:13 > 0:09:17While poor Todd just seems a bit confused by the whole thing.
0:09:17 > 0:09:22- Come on Todd. Paw, Toddy.- Yes. Good. Let her know you like that.
0:09:22 > 0:09:24It is those small little steps
0:09:24 > 0:09:27that we have to let our dog know we appreciate and we like.
0:09:27 > 0:09:29Toddy! Good boy, Todd!
0:09:29 > 0:09:32Much better. Much better. Very good.
0:09:32 > 0:09:35When he gets that pushing that launches that ball...
0:09:35 > 0:09:39And he gets to play fetch. You know, the light bulb's going to go off.
0:09:39 > 0:09:42- He's just got to learn to get it flying first.- Exactly, exactly!
0:09:42 > 0:09:47- Sit! Sit!- Poor old Todd. Maybe he should just watch Daisy.
0:09:47 > 0:09:50She's already becoming the firm favourite to win.
0:09:50 > 0:09:52Oh, look at that! Wow!
0:09:52 > 0:09:55Very nice. All of you have done exceptional.
0:09:55 > 0:09:58OK. We'll see you guys in about a week. Bye.
0:09:58 > 0:10:02- Bye!- The teams now have one week to practise,
0:10:02 > 0:10:04before returning to the Dog House.
0:10:04 > 0:10:08The best bit was actually getting in there and doing it.
0:10:08 > 0:10:11Having a good time. The worst bit was
0:10:11 > 0:10:12that Todd was losing interest
0:10:12 > 0:10:15because there were a lot of distractions.
0:10:15 > 0:10:19I think my biggest competitor in my group is Esther and Daisy.
0:10:19 > 0:10:22Because Daisy can put the ball in the cup really well
0:10:22 > 0:10:27and she's quite a fast dog, so she can really run at that pedal.
0:10:27 > 0:10:30I think my training session with Zak went really rather well.
0:10:30 > 0:10:32I really, really, really want to be in the final.
0:10:32 > 0:10:35And, I think we've got quite a good chance
0:10:35 > 0:10:38because Daisy's so well-behaved.
0:10:38 > 0:10:40Most of the time!
0:10:40 > 0:10:42Daisy, Todd, and Magic all look pretty different.
0:10:42 > 0:10:45Let's take a look at their mutt measurements
0:10:45 > 0:10:47and see just how different they really are.
0:10:47 > 0:10:49First up, we have Daisy,
0:10:49 > 0:10:53who's a five-year-old Jack Russell, Border Terrier Cross.
0:10:53 > 0:10:56Terriers are among the most fearless dogs and Esther reckons
0:10:56 > 0:10:59that if Daisy was any character, then she'd be Lassie
0:10:59 > 0:11:01because she's so loyal and so clever!
0:11:01 > 0:11:04We know that Daisy likes to fetch stuff,
0:11:04 > 0:11:07but will she be able to launch the catapult and then fetch?
0:11:07 > 0:11:11Next up is Todd, the seven-year-old Border Collie.
0:11:11 > 0:11:14Border Collies love herding and will even try to herd people
0:11:14 > 0:11:16if you let them.
0:11:16 > 0:11:20According to Daniel, Todd hates Hoovers, rainy days
0:11:20 > 0:11:25and the sound of tinfoil. So, let's hope that he likes canine catapults.
0:11:25 > 0:11:28Magic is four years old and he's a Spanish Water dog,
0:11:28 > 0:11:32which means he actually has webbed feet.
0:11:32 > 0:11:35Wow, yeah, just like a duck!
0:11:35 > 0:11:38But, will Magic be able to put those webbed feet to good use
0:11:38 > 0:11:40and fire the catapult?
0:11:44 > 0:11:46One week on, and with that all-important
0:11:46 > 0:11:47quarter final spot up for grabs,
0:11:47 > 0:11:50the competition is really hotting up.
0:11:50 > 0:11:52The trainers have returned to The Doghouse
0:11:52 > 0:11:54and Zak wants to find out who's got what it takes
0:11:54 > 0:11:56to make it to the next round.
0:11:56 > 0:12:00Look at you, guys! Doing fantastic on these catapult launchers.
0:12:00 > 0:12:02Unbelievable progress!
0:12:02 > 0:12:05Your dogs are listening to you much, much better here.
0:12:05 > 0:12:08All three dogs can now launch the catapult,
0:12:08 > 0:12:10but loading the ball into the cup is still proving tricky.
0:12:10 > 0:12:13Any team that can nail this part of the stunt
0:12:13 > 0:12:16will have a huge advantage when it comes to Show Time.
0:12:16 > 0:12:19- How do you feel? Are you feeling good?- Yeah, I'm feeling good.
0:12:19 > 0:12:22Now, how has it gone with placing the ball in the launcher itself?
0:12:22 > 0:12:24He really doesn't understand how to do it.
0:12:24 > 0:12:26I don't think he will do it.
0:12:26 > 0:12:28I would still work on it, though.
0:12:28 > 0:12:30Remember, that is a massive 20-point
0:12:30 > 0:12:33bonus to you every single time he does that.
0:12:33 > 0:12:36You would have to really spend every waking moment teaching this
0:12:36 > 0:12:39to get him to that point. It might be a better...
0:12:39 > 0:12:43Did Magic just ping an invisible ball there?
0:12:43 > 0:12:45You are a serious threat in this competition.
0:12:45 > 0:12:49- You're looking really, really good. - Thank you.- Daniel and Todd...
0:12:51 > 0:12:55Fetch it, fetch it. Fetch it!
0:12:55 > 0:12:57Daniel seems to be having a bit of trouble.
0:12:57 > 0:12:59I think Todd wants Daniel to load the catapult.
0:12:59 > 0:13:02Right now, it looks like he's training you, Daniel!
0:13:02 > 0:13:06- Fetch it!- I see what you're doing.
0:13:06 > 0:13:09Right now, Todd is just waiting it out, isn't he?
0:13:09 > 0:13:12Let's see how he's doing with launching. Place it in there.
0:13:12 > 0:13:14Leave it! Leave it!
0:13:14 > 0:13:17Toddy, round. Toddy, leave it!
0:13:17 > 0:13:21- Toddy, round here.- Oh, nice work! Look at that. Look at him go!
0:13:21 > 0:13:26He definitely wants to fire it and fetch it. Well done, Todd.
0:13:26 > 0:13:30- He just needs to learn to load it. - Very good.- Fetch it!
0:13:30 > 0:13:32- Fetch it! Come on, Todd. Leave it! Good boy!- He did it!
0:13:32 > 0:13:35- Did he just do it?- Yes. - Oh, fantastic!
0:13:35 > 0:13:38Well, they're making progress, but something tells me
0:13:38 > 0:13:42Esther and Daisy are probably doing quite well too.
0:13:42 > 0:13:45Fetch it. In the cup. Daisy, fetch!
0:13:47 > 0:13:49- That's it. Wow!- I thought so.
0:13:49 > 0:13:53Oh, Esther and Daisy certainly make quite a team.
0:13:53 > 0:13:57- And now let's see her try and do the launching.- Daisy! Come on!
0:13:57 > 0:14:00- Come on!- Good energy! That's it.
0:14:00 > 0:14:03Ooh, not enough power there from Daisy.
0:14:03 > 0:14:06That could be a problem for them.
0:14:06 > 0:14:09- Does Daisy play tug-of-war? - Yes, she does.
0:14:09 > 0:14:13- OK, very good. Now, you don't have a tug toy, do you?- No.
0:14:13 > 0:14:15That's good because I always do. A trick like this means
0:14:15 > 0:14:18that we have to have energy. And our dogs really feed off of that.
0:14:18 > 0:14:21I want you to try and play tug-of-war with her a little bit.
0:14:21 > 0:14:24- Come over here.- What's this?
0:14:24 > 0:14:26I want you to get her pepped up. Really good. Get into it.
0:14:26 > 0:14:29And then I want you to try running up
0:14:29 > 0:14:32and encouraging her to put her paws up here. Good, oh there she goes!
0:14:32 > 0:14:33- Good! That's it.- Daisy!
0:14:34 > 0:14:37- Daisy, jump it! Yeah!- Yes!
0:14:37 > 0:14:38Good girl!
0:14:38 > 0:14:42I love this about her, that instinct plus reward from the tug toy.
0:14:42 > 0:14:43You understand that.
0:14:43 > 0:14:45Beautiful job.
0:14:45 > 0:14:47All right, guys. You've got two days
0:14:47 > 0:14:49to practice and get this looking good.
0:14:49 > 0:14:51The winner will advance to the quarter-finals.
0:14:51 > 0:14:53Best of luck.
0:14:53 > 0:14:56All right, we'll see you back here in two days for Show Time.
0:14:56 > 0:15:00- Bye guys!- Bye!- Bye.- See you.
0:15:02 > 0:15:06So, here are Zak's five steps to teaching your dog
0:15:06 > 0:15:07how to fire a catapult.
0:15:09 > 0:15:12One. Encourage your dog to drop a tennis ball into a bowl.
0:15:13 > 0:15:16Two. Gradually reduce the size of the bowl
0:15:16 > 0:15:21until your dog can drop the tennis ball into the catapult launcher.
0:15:21 > 0:15:25Three. Get your dog used to the idea of firing the catapult
0:15:25 > 0:15:27by jumping onto the launching board.
0:15:27 > 0:15:30Throw the ball straight away so they'll understand what happens
0:15:30 > 0:15:32when they step on the launcher.
0:15:32 > 0:15:35Four. Encourage your dog to fetch the ball
0:15:35 > 0:15:38and make sure they bring it straight back to you.
0:15:38 > 0:15:42Five. Put all of the steps together so that your dog drops the ball
0:15:42 > 0:15:47into the catapult launcher, fires it and then collects the ball.
0:15:47 > 0:15:51My training plan over these two days are going to be,
0:15:51 > 0:15:54we're going to go to the park and practice and practice.
0:15:54 > 0:15:57Todd didn't put in the cup as many time as I would like him to,
0:15:57 > 0:16:02or he didn't push the pedal as hard as I wanted him to.
0:16:02 > 0:16:06I'm just going to be focusing on loading.
0:16:06 > 0:16:09She can gets all of her points for loading.
0:16:13 > 0:16:16Today's trick is a real crowd pleaser.
0:16:16 > 0:16:19Your friends and family will absolutely love this one.
0:16:19 > 0:16:21But the main thing to remember about this is,
0:16:21 > 0:16:23keep it fun for your dog and he'll do it all day long.
0:16:23 > 0:16:25Come on in, Nellie!
0:16:25 > 0:16:31Hey, baby. How are you? Sit down for me. You're fantastic.
0:16:31 > 0:16:33So, today I'm going to show you how to teach your dog to bow.
0:16:33 > 0:16:36Come over here. Let's come around. Heel.
0:16:36 > 0:16:38That's is. Perfect, perfect. Very good.
0:16:38 > 0:16:40If you've taught your dog to lie down,
0:16:40 > 0:16:41they're already halfway there.
0:16:41 > 0:16:44Think of this as kind of like a half a lie down.
0:16:44 > 0:16:46OK. Come on. Up here!
0:16:46 > 0:16:48I'm going to lure her down, but see how she wants to lie down?
0:16:48 > 0:16:52That's completely normal. Don't be discouraged by that.
0:16:52 > 0:16:54They're drawing from what they've learned. Come here.
0:16:54 > 0:16:57Up here. Good? We're going to lure her down.
0:16:57 > 0:16:59I'm going to have my hand right here under her belly.
0:16:59 > 0:17:02The reason I'm keeping my hand under her belly,
0:17:02 > 0:17:04is in the event she goes into a down,
0:17:04 > 0:17:06I want to let her know, "Don't go that far."
0:17:06 > 0:17:08Stay.
0:17:08 > 0:17:09Yes! That's bow. Very good.
0:17:09 > 0:17:14And she's getting closer, but I think we can make this look even better.
0:17:14 > 0:17:16Stay. Bow. Uh, uh, uh. Almost, almost.
0:17:16 > 0:17:18You were so close. Very good.
0:17:18 > 0:17:21Remember, always engage your dog a lot when you're teaching this.
0:17:21 > 0:17:22Stay. Bow.
0:17:22 > 0:17:24Yes! Good girl. Nellie, come on.
0:17:24 > 0:17:26Get up. Let's try one more time.
0:17:26 > 0:17:28I'm going stand up. Let's see if she'll do it from here.
0:17:28 > 0:17:29Nellie?
0:17:30 > 0:17:34Bow. And that's how you teach bow.
0:17:34 > 0:17:35# Who let the dogs out?
0:17:35 > 0:17:37# Woof, woof, woof, woof. #
0:17:37 > 0:17:41Some dogs have truly incredible stories.
0:17:41 > 0:17:43I was amazed when I heard this next one,
0:17:43 > 0:17:44and I think you will be too.
0:17:48 > 0:17:53This is the Vafa Animal Shelter in Iran,
0:17:53 > 0:17:57where this little dog was rescued from the side of the road
0:17:57 > 0:17:59after being run over.
0:17:59 > 0:18:04Vets quickly realised that his back legs were paralysed,
0:18:04 > 0:18:07but they named him Omid, which means "hope".
0:18:07 > 0:18:10It looked like Omid might never walk again.
0:18:10 > 0:18:12But help was on its way!
0:18:12 > 0:18:14Look at this puppy.
0:18:14 > 0:18:17Puppy needs a home. Permanent home. Right, Omid?
0:18:17 > 0:18:21Omid was given a life-changing gift.
0:18:21 > 0:18:23He got a new set of wheels!
0:18:23 > 0:18:25Look at him go!
0:18:25 > 0:18:28He can walk, he can run.
0:18:28 > 0:18:32And Omid has also been found a new family and a new home -
0:18:32 > 0:18:37the other side of the world. In America!
0:18:37 > 0:18:38# Who let the dogs out? #
0:18:43 > 0:18:47Ten days of catapult training are over.
0:18:47 > 0:18:51It is time for our three trainers to go head to head.
0:18:53 > 0:18:58But only one can stay in the competition.
0:18:58 > 0:18:59So who will hold their nerve?
0:18:59 > 0:19:03I'm feeling very nervous about Show Time because you just don't know
0:19:03 > 0:19:05what will happen. It's like there's a big drop
0:19:05 > 0:19:07and you don't know what's down there.
0:19:07 > 0:19:09Who will keep their focus?
0:19:09 > 0:19:11I feel grateful that I've got this far.
0:19:11 > 0:19:14Cos a lot of people didn't get this far and I feel very grateful
0:19:14 > 0:19:16that I did get this far.
0:19:16 > 0:19:19And who will catapult their way to the quarter-final?
0:19:19 > 0:19:22I'm just hoping we can do our best and I hope we can win.
0:19:22 > 0:19:24It is time to find out.
0:19:24 > 0:19:26It's Show Time for our catapulting dogs
0:19:26 > 0:19:29and this is where it's all going to take place.
0:19:29 > 0:19:32The teams will have two minutes to fire that catapult
0:19:32 > 0:19:34as many times as possible.
0:19:34 > 0:19:36If they manage to get their dogs to load and fire the catapult,
0:19:36 > 0:19:39they'll get an extra 20 points,
0:19:39 > 0:19:42and these flags indicate how many points they'll receive
0:19:42 > 0:19:43when that ball lands.
0:19:43 > 0:19:46The landing area has been divided into sections,
0:19:46 > 0:19:49with the furthest offering 20 points.
0:19:49 > 0:19:51Once the ball has been fired and retrieved,
0:19:51 > 0:19:54the dog must bring it back beyond the first line
0:19:54 > 0:19:55to win those points.
0:19:55 > 0:19:58The rules are in place, the stage is set,
0:19:58 > 0:20:00and it's Esther and Daisy to go first.
0:20:01 > 0:20:04They were serious contenders from the moment they arrived
0:20:04 > 0:20:06at The Dog House
0:20:06 > 0:20:09and Daisy was the first dog to drop the ball into the bowl.
0:20:09 > 0:20:11If they remain consistent,
0:20:11 > 0:20:14that place in the quarter-finals will be theirs.
0:20:14 > 0:20:17Your time starts now.
0:20:18 > 0:20:21Esther's being bold. She wants those bonus points
0:20:21 > 0:20:24but she'll only get them if Daisy drops the ball in the cup.
0:20:28 > 0:20:3120 points! Nice one. Well done, you two. Great start.
0:20:35 > 0:20:38Oh, no. Not enough power there from Daisy,
0:20:38 > 0:20:40and it hit the catapult.
0:20:40 > 0:20:42And now Daisy's forgotten what to do.
0:20:47 > 0:20:50Despite fantastic encouragement from Esther,
0:20:50 > 0:20:53Daisy seems to want to put the ball anywhere but in that cup.
0:20:55 > 0:20:58Finally the ball is loaded. That's 20 more points,
0:20:58 > 0:21:01but now Daisy's looking at, well, the daisies.
0:21:01 > 0:21:03Come on, you're running out of time!
0:21:09 > 0:21:12Daisy! Jump!
0:21:12 > 0:21:14Yes, a big ten-pointer!
0:21:14 > 0:21:17But the clock's against you.
0:21:17 > 0:21:19Daisy! What's this? Daisy!
0:21:19 > 0:21:22And there's the buzzer.
0:21:22 > 0:21:26Esther does look disappointed. Have they scored enough points?
0:21:26 > 0:21:30Todd has been easily distracted during his time at the Dog House
0:21:30 > 0:21:32and Daniel has found it hard to teach him
0:21:32 > 0:21:33how to drop the ball in the cup.
0:21:33 > 0:21:36These two are definitely underdogs in the competition,
0:21:36 > 0:21:39and if they don't do it now, they never will.
0:21:42 > 0:21:44Your time starts now.
0:21:44 > 0:21:47Remember - the further that ball flies,
0:21:47 > 0:21:49the more points they'll receive,
0:21:49 > 0:21:51but it's a disastrous start.
0:21:51 > 0:21:53Not enough power!
0:21:55 > 0:21:59And now it looks like Todd's forgotten all his training.
0:21:59 > 0:22:00Leave it! Leave it!
0:22:02 > 0:22:03Todd, turn around!
0:22:03 > 0:22:05Round!
0:22:09 > 0:22:12Good boy, Toddy! Toddy, come!
0:22:15 > 0:22:18Now they've got the hang of it, the points keep coming.
0:22:18 > 0:22:20But Daniel's decided against getting Todd to load the ball
0:22:20 > 0:22:22into the catapult.
0:22:22 > 0:22:26They won't score any bonuses so they'll have to be super-quick.
0:22:26 > 0:22:27Good boy! Toddy, come!
0:22:30 > 0:22:31Final ten seconds.
0:22:31 > 0:22:33Can they can get just one more?
0:22:36 > 0:22:37Turn it round! Turn it round!
0:22:41 > 0:22:43Oh, just out of time!
0:22:43 > 0:22:44Good boy!
0:22:46 > 0:22:49From the start, Magic has seemed more interested in chewing
0:22:49 > 0:22:51the balls than loading them into the catapult,
0:22:51 > 0:22:53and Isobel's admitted that Magic
0:22:53 > 0:22:55simply doesn't understand what to do.
0:22:55 > 0:22:58If they're to have any chance in the competition,
0:22:58 > 0:23:00they'll have to seriously up their game.
0:23:00 > 0:23:01Your time starts now.
0:23:01 > 0:23:05And they're off - and Magic knows just what to do!
0:23:05 > 0:23:09But Isobel's forgotten to load the catapult.
0:23:10 > 0:23:13A second attempt - but it's a misfire.
0:23:13 > 0:23:15Come on, team. Get it together!
0:23:17 > 0:23:19Magic's flying. Surely this time.
0:23:22 > 0:23:24Yes, they've done it.
0:23:24 > 0:23:25Good boy!
0:23:25 > 0:23:27That's 20 points in the bag and now they're really motoring.
0:23:29 > 0:23:32Good boy!
0:23:32 > 0:23:33Good boy!
0:23:33 > 0:23:37But not for long. After another ten pointer, disaster strikes.
0:23:39 > 0:23:41Misfire... after misfire...
0:23:42 > 0:23:44After misfire.
0:23:44 > 0:23:46And the clock is against them.
0:23:50 > 0:23:52Good boy!
0:23:52 > 0:23:55Another 20 pointer, but is it too little, too late?
0:23:57 > 0:24:01Isobel, I think you worked harder than Magic.
0:24:01 > 0:24:03Excellent job! Really good work!
0:24:07 > 0:24:10What an intense competition that was, guys.
0:24:10 > 0:24:11You all did fantastic.
0:24:11 > 0:24:14But I can now reveal...
0:24:16 > 0:24:18..that we actually have a tie.
0:24:18 > 0:24:21Esther and Daisy scored an admirable 55 points,
0:24:21 > 0:24:25but with 70 points apiece, Daniel and Todd will now go head to head
0:24:25 > 0:24:28against Isobel and Magic in the tie-break.
0:24:28 > 0:24:33Isobel and Daniel, we are going to have a one-minute tie-breaking round.
0:24:33 > 0:24:35Esther and Daisy, I want to congratulate you.
0:24:35 > 0:24:38You guys were the only ones who were able to pull off
0:24:38 > 0:24:40the most challenging part of this trick.
0:24:40 > 0:24:43That takes a lot of skill and you are a very talented dog trainer.
0:24:43 > 0:24:45I like you guys a lot.
0:24:48 > 0:24:49Time starts now.
0:24:54 > 0:24:56A strong start for Isobel and Magic.
0:24:56 > 0:24:58This looks like an easy 20-pointer.
0:24:58 > 0:25:02But no - Magic's dropped the ball before crossing the line.
0:25:02 > 0:25:05Good boy. Go fetch it!
0:25:05 > 0:25:08And when he does it again, Isobel has to change tactics.
0:25:10 > 0:25:12Good boy. Good boy!
0:25:12 > 0:25:14By standing further back, she encourages Magic to keep
0:25:14 > 0:25:17hold of the ball and it works!
0:25:17 > 0:25:19Finally, some points on the board!
0:25:19 > 0:25:21But is there time for one last score?
0:25:21 > 0:25:24Good boy! Mag! Come here, come here, come here!
0:25:26 > 0:25:27Just made it! Yes!
0:25:32 > 0:25:34Your time starts now.
0:25:36 > 0:25:39Ten days' training and it all comes down to this.
0:25:39 > 0:25:40Good boy, Toddy!
0:25:40 > 0:25:44It's a great start. Todd and Daniel secure an early 20 points.
0:25:47 > 0:25:49Turn around! Turn around!
0:25:49 > 0:25:51But wait - what's Todd doing?
0:25:51 > 0:25:55Quick thinking, Daniel. That's more points in the bag -
0:25:55 > 0:25:58Or is it? What are you doing, Todd?!
0:25:59 > 0:26:01Phew, he's done it!
0:26:01 > 0:26:02Turn around!
0:26:02 > 0:26:04Turn around!
0:26:04 > 0:26:06Good boy!
0:26:06 > 0:26:09But Todd's stopped again!
0:26:09 > 0:26:11Come on, Todd, quick!
0:26:13 > 0:26:15Toddy, come!
0:26:16 > 0:26:18Oh, what a contest.
0:26:18 > 0:26:21Guys, that was intense.
0:26:21 > 0:26:24But I can now reveal that the winner,
0:26:24 > 0:26:29and the team that will advance to the quarter-finals is...
0:26:36 > 0:26:41..Daniel and Todd. Congratulations! Fantastic job!
0:26:41 > 0:26:44You guys won the challenge today and you advance to the quarter-finals.
0:26:44 > 0:26:45Tell me how you feel about that.
0:26:45 > 0:26:47I feel very amazed.
0:26:47 > 0:26:50You seem stunned. I saw the look on your face there.
0:26:50 > 0:26:52Isobel and Magic did a fantastic job as well.
0:26:52 > 0:26:56Unfortunately Magic dropping that ball just short of the catapult,
0:26:56 > 0:26:59and even though it rolled past, they have to bring it all the way
0:26:59 > 0:27:01back behind the catapult.
0:27:01 > 0:27:03You guys did incredible as well.
0:27:03 > 0:27:06That was an extremely intense performance. Guys, really good work.
0:27:06 > 0:27:09Good boy!
0:27:10 > 0:27:14So Daniel and Todd have catapulted straight into the quarter-finals.
0:27:14 > 0:27:17Next time - three more trainers and their dogs will attempt
0:27:17 > 0:27:21to get their spot in the quarter-final. Don't miss it.
0:27:21 > 0:27:23Next time - Katie and Danny Boy,
0:27:23 > 0:27:26Megan and Rocky and Chris and Natalya
0:27:26 > 0:27:28try to master Zak's latest stunt.
0:27:28 > 0:27:31This is a really, really challenging trick to teach.
0:27:31 > 0:27:34But will they master it before Show Time, eh? Eh? Eh?
0:27:34 > 0:27:35Watch it, you!
0:27:35 > 0:27:38Unbelievable!
0:27:39 > 0:27:42I thought, It has to be Magic, it can't be me!
0:27:42 > 0:27:44So I was very amazed.
0:27:44 > 0:27:46I feel really proud of Magic.
0:27:46 > 0:27:48I can't believe that he's come this far.
0:27:48 > 0:27:52He's been such a great dog to work with. And I really love him.
