0:01:15 > 0:01:18Hundreds of you applied to be on Who Let The Dogs Out?

0:01:18 > 0:01:23But we only had room for 27 of the nation's best young dog trainers.

0:01:23 > 0:01:26Today, Georgia and Poppy, Ella and Charlie and Adele and Jess

0:01:26 > 0:01:28are going to be learning a very bouncy stunt

0:01:28 > 0:01:32but first, let's find out why they made it into the Doghouse.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38At the try-outs, dozens of dogs and their trainers

0:01:38 > 0:01:40were hoping to get to the Doghouse

0:01:40 > 0:01:43for a chance at that ultimate prize of Top Dog Trainer.

0:01:43 > 0:01:46The competition was tough and only the very best would get there.

0:01:46 > 0:01:49My name's Georgia and this is Poppy.

0:01:53 > 0:01:56Poppy is a king cocker spaniel.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58Whoa! Hops!

0:01:58 > 0:02:00Check it out.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03I've never done something like this before and I'm nervous

0:02:03 > 0:02:05because I don't know how it will go.

0:02:05 > 0:02:08I've never seen a cocker spaniel jump so high in my life!

0:02:08 > 0:02:10We practice every day when we go on walks.

0:02:11 > 0:02:13Unbelievable!

0:02:13 > 0:02:15- Good girl.- That was incredible.

0:02:18 > 0:02:21I'm Adele, this is Jess and we're from Cheshire.

0:02:21 > 0:02:23Jess is really good at tricks.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26- She's a Welsh collie cross. - Very good.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33Bang.

0:02:33 > 0:02:36I'm feeling really happy about going to the try-outs

0:02:36 > 0:02:39and excited and ready to go.

0:02:39 > 0:02:42Wow! That's always a crowd-pleasing trick.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50Adele and Jess and Georgia and Poppy breezed through their try-outs

0:02:50 > 0:02:53but for Ella and her Jack Russell Charlie,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55it wasn't such plain sailing.

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Oh, boy. Trouble, trouble.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01Look! "Let me at the ball," he says. "I've got to have it!"

0:03:01 > 0:03:04- We call him the mini David Beckham. - I see.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07- May I please have this? - Charlie, drop it.

0:03:07 > 0:03:08Charlie, drop!

0:03:08 > 0:03:10CHARLIE WHIMPERS

0:03:10 > 0:03:15Charlie is a real perseverer and he'll try to do his best every time.

0:03:15 > 0:03:16Charlie, fetch!

0:03:18 > 0:03:19Charlie!

0:03:19 > 0:03:22You... You're possessed!

0:03:22 > 0:03:25- Charlie!- Are you kidding me?

0:03:25 > 0:03:27Dead dog.

0:03:27 > 0:03:30I think everyone needs to take cover.

0:03:30 > 0:03:36What else can we test for here? Cos we're not going to get the basics.

0:03:36 > 0:03:40Charlie's try-out could have gone better, but Zak saw his potential.

0:03:40 > 0:03:45I see a dog that is really focused on playing and really enjoys that.

0:03:45 > 0:03:47If you can take advantage of that focus,

0:03:47 > 0:03:51you can teach a dog like that absolutely anything.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58After securing their place at the Doghouse,

0:03:58 > 0:04:00all three trainers looked forward

0:04:00 > 0:04:03to seeing what Zak had in store for them.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06All right! Look at our dogs. They're looking excited.

0:04:06 > 0:04:11I am so super excited. Today, you're going to be teaching your dogs

0:04:11 > 0:04:14how to bounce up and down on a trampoline.

0:04:14 > 0:04:17Now, I cannot think of a more fun trick to teach.

0:04:17 > 0:04:20This one, I think, is going to be a blast. For this trick,

0:04:20 > 0:04:23the dogs are going to learn to jump onto a trampoline by themselves

0:04:23 > 0:04:27and jump up and down. This is more difficult than it looks,

0:04:27 > 0:04:30as their trainers won't be allowed on the trampoline with them.

0:04:30 > 0:04:33At Showtime, the dog that bounces the most times on the trampoline

0:04:33 > 0:04:35will be the winner.

0:04:37 > 0:04:39The first thing we're going to do

0:04:39 > 0:04:42is see how well our dogs jump on the spot in front of us.

0:04:42 > 0:04:45I'd like to start with you, Adele and Jess.

0:04:45 > 0:04:47Go ahead and take Jess off the leash, please.

0:04:47 > 0:04:50- And are you going to be using food or play today?- Um, food.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52Play very often is a very effective reward,

0:04:52 > 0:04:54especially for a trick like this.

0:04:54 > 0:04:56That is not a good start.

0:04:56 > 0:04:59I think Jess seems a little distracted.

0:04:59 > 0:05:02- Go ahead and call Jess in a happy voice.- Jessie!

0:05:02 > 0:05:04- Come here, Jess.- Come here. Stay.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06- OK, you got it. Very good.- Sit.

0:05:06 > 0:05:10Go ahead, put her in position, see if you can get her to jump up and down.

0:05:10 > 0:05:11Jump. Good girl.

0:05:11 > 0:05:14- Jump.- Very nice. Go ahead and reward her. That's good.

0:05:14 > 0:05:16When a dog's on the right track,

0:05:16 > 0:05:19especially at the start when we're teaching them something new,

0:05:19 > 0:05:22- got to let them know they're doing right. One more time.- Jump. Jump.

0:05:22 > 0:05:25Get up off that ground! Show me some more energy! Come on!

0:05:25 > 0:05:28- Yes!- Good girl! - I'll tell you right off the bat,

0:05:28 > 0:05:32you'll have to pick up that energy ten times to do well with this trick.

0:05:32 > 0:05:35I'll come over to Georgia and Poppy. Let's see what you guys are up to.

0:05:35 > 0:05:38At the try-outs, Poppy proved she could jump.

0:05:38 > 0:05:39Go, jump!

0:05:39 > 0:05:41Whoa! Look at this!

0:05:41 > 0:05:45And it looks like she hasn't lost her touch. That is amazing.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49Right, reward! Reward, now!

0:05:49 > 0:05:51- Can I throw the ball?- Yeah.

0:05:51 > 0:05:54Get the ball. That's how we reward. A dog that loves the ball that much,

0:05:54 > 0:05:58the second they do it, give it to them, when they do what we want.

0:05:58 > 0:06:01Get the ball back, again, do three more jumps and then throw it.

0:06:01 > 0:06:02- Go!- One jump.

0:06:02 > 0:06:04Good, give me...

0:06:04 > 0:06:06Two. Now give me one more.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08Now throw that ball! Awesome job!

0:06:08 > 0:06:13That's fantastic. That's what I want to see all of your dogs doing here.

0:06:13 > 0:06:15I just noticed a second ago over here

0:06:15 > 0:06:17that when Georgia and Poppy were working,

0:06:17 > 0:06:19Charlie was like, "No, I don't want food, I want this."

0:06:19 > 0:06:21Try and give him food, please.

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Charlie! Come on!

0:06:23 > 0:06:24Put it right at his nose.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27Charlie! Come on.

0:06:27 > 0:06:30Looks like Charlie is still obsessed with playing ball.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33Let go. Oh, he doesn't let go either, does he?

0:06:33 > 0:06:35If you say, "drop" sometimes he does.

0:06:35 > 0:06:37Drop. No. Drop.

0:06:37 > 0:06:38Drop it!

0:06:38 > 0:06:40You tell him to drop.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43Charlie, drop it. Drop it. Charlie, drop.

0:06:43 > 0:06:45Charlie wants that ball so much

0:06:45 > 0:06:48that I don't think anything will make him let go of it...

0:06:48 > 0:06:49Drop it! Drop!

0:06:49 > 0:06:51..except another ball.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54So we showed him another ball and he let go. Good.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56Yes! Right here.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58- Charlie!- Right here. Very good.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01When you let go, you'll get this one. Good! No.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04- He wants to have them both. Good!- Good boy.

0:07:04 > 0:07:07I'm going to let you work with your dog. Work on jumping and reward.

0:07:07 > 0:07:10Jump! Good boy. Jump!

0:07:10 > 0:07:13Let's go ahead and practice with him now. Keep up the good work.

0:07:13 > 0:07:14You're doing great.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25Our dogs very often like the same things in life that we do

0:07:25 > 0:07:27like fresh, crisp snow in winter,

0:07:27 > 0:07:29perfect for jumping about in.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36Things get tough when the weather turns cold.

0:07:38 > 0:07:41Getting from A to B becomes a challenge.

0:07:45 > 0:07:48Traffic slows down to a crawl.

0:07:49 > 0:07:51And tempers flare.

0:07:54 > 0:07:57Some are completely at home in the snow.

0:08:04 > 0:08:07It leaves others "cold".

0:08:14 > 0:08:18For most, the best thing about snow

0:08:18 > 0:08:21is coming back inside to the warm.

0:08:26 > 0:08:29Still to come, Zak teaches Nelly a potentially life-saving trick

0:08:29 > 0:08:31and our three teams battle it out

0:08:31 > 0:08:35in one of the most dramatic Showtimes yet.

0:08:35 > 0:08:37It's like all the pressure's on me and Charlie

0:08:37 > 0:08:39to do, like, really well.

0:08:43 > 0:08:47Now the teams have had time to practise jumping on the spot,

0:08:47 > 0:08:49Zak's back to see how they've got on

0:08:49 > 0:08:51and start the next step of training.

0:08:51 > 0:08:56What we want to do is encourage them to now do this on the trampoline.

0:08:56 > 0:08:59The difficulty is that we now have distance between our dogs and us.

0:08:59 > 0:09:01Our dogs are far less likely to listen to us

0:09:01 > 0:09:05even with the smallest amount of distance if they're not used to it.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07Ready to start? Let's get on the trampoline,

0:09:07 > 0:09:10and I want you to be extremely cautious.

0:09:10 > 0:09:13Pretend that you're teaching them to jump up and down

0:09:13 > 0:09:14for the first time ever.

0:09:14 > 0:09:18At Showtime, the trainers won't be allowed on the trampoline

0:09:18 > 0:09:20so Zak has given them boxes to stand on.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22Jump! No. Jump!

0:09:22 > 0:09:25- Good girl. - Keep Charlie closer to the middle.

0:09:25 > 0:09:29I'm seeing a bad habit develop with him being so close to the perimeter.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32You want him right here. Withhold. Correct every time, OK?

0:09:32 > 0:09:35The middle of the trampoline is the safest place to be

0:09:35 > 0:09:39and the best place if you want to jump really high.

0:09:39 > 0:09:42I love the control you guys have with that ball. Much better.

0:09:42 > 0:09:46If Ella can use Charlie's obsession with those balls to good effect,

0:09:46 > 0:09:48she could be in with a chance at winning this

0:09:48 > 0:09:52but Adele still seems to be struggling to keep Jess's attention.

0:09:52 > 0:09:56- I can see Jess is definitely distracted.- Come here!

0:09:56 > 0:09:57Let's try and get down a bit lower.

0:09:57 > 0:10:01Maybe we can even initially get on the trampoline. Let me see, maybe...

0:10:01 > 0:10:03Yeah, that's good.

0:10:03 > 0:10:04Hey, Jess! Look what I got!

0:10:06 > 0:10:08Let me see the food, please. Very good. Look at this!

0:10:08 > 0:10:12Very good. Good. I like that you're paying attention now.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15See, right now, because she wasn't paying attention a moment ago,

0:10:15 > 0:10:17she was just like, "No, I'm bored.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19"I don't feel like doing this right now."

0:10:19 > 0:10:21Let's go. Yes! Good, very good.

0:10:21 > 0:10:23See, it's OK, we can sit here a little bit.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26I would just try to do that and try and get some motion

0:10:26 > 0:10:28and maybe half those treats, so they're not quite so big.

0:10:28 > 0:10:30Adele will have to work really hard

0:10:30 > 0:10:32to make sure Jess doesn't get distracted

0:10:32 > 0:10:35but there are no such problems for Georgia and Poppy!

0:10:35 > 0:10:37Beautiful. Look at Poppy!

0:10:37 > 0:10:39My goodness! Look at this.

0:10:39 > 0:10:44What I love about Poppy is that she jumps up, she comes down,

0:10:44 > 0:10:45she sets and she goes up again.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47It's very rhythmic.

0:10:47 > 0:10:50Timing is so important in dog training, and she gets that.

0:10:50 > 0:10:52You need to reward, though,

0:10:52 > 0:10:54come on, big. Very good.

0:10:54 > 0:10:55All right, guys.

0:10:55 > 0:10:59- We'll see you in one week, back here at the Doghouse. Bye.- Bye!

0:10:59 > 0:11:02For Georgia and Poppy, today has been plain sailing

0:11:02 > 0:11:04but for Ella and Charlie

0:11:04 > 0:11:08and Adele and Jess, there are some major obstacles to overcome.

0:11:08 > 0:11:09When we got on the trampoline,

0:11:09 > 0:11:12she was more interested in anything else that was going on.

0:11:12 > 0:11:15She tries her best, but if something's in the corner of her eye

0:11:15 > 0:11:18she always has to go and have a look at it and check it out.

0:11:18 > 0:11:22Charlie's love of the tennis balls does worry me a bit

0:11:22 > 0:11:25because he's not concentrating as much.

0:11:27 > 0:11:31The main competition for me will probably be Georgia

0:11:31 > 0:11:35because her dog can jump really high and is really good.

0:11:35 > 0:11:37I'm glad that we're doing trampolining

0:11:37 > 0:11:40because Poppy can jump really high

0:11:40 > 0:11:43and I think we can use that as an advantage.

0:11:43 > 0:11:46Poppy, Charlie and Jess are all really amazing dogs.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48Let's see what makes them who they are.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50Poppy is two years old

0:11:50 > 0:11:54and like many cocker spaniels, she's really energetic.

0:11:54 > 0:11:56Poppy can run for miles and miles

0:11:56 > 0:11:58and she loves swimming too!

0:11:58 > 0:12:00Georgia is also really sporty

0:12:00 > 0:12:01so they make a great team.

0:12:01 > 0:12:04Poppy already has a trampoline at home

0:12:04 > 0:12:07so she might just have the edge on this one.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10Charlie is a two-year-old Jack Russell

0:12:10 > 0:12:12and as we've seen, he loves balls

0:12:12 > 0:12:14and balls, and...

0:12:14 > 0:12:16well, more balls.

0:12:16 > 0:12:18In fact, Charlie is so crazy about balls

0:12:18 > 0:12:21that when there are balls about, he doesn't want anything else,

0:12:21 > 0:12:23not even food.

0:12:23 > 0:12:25Jack Russells can be extremely determined

0:12:25 > 0:12:29so if anyone can crack this trampoline challenge, it's Charlie.

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Jess, the Welsh collie cross,

0:12:31 > 0:12:33is three years old and loves swimming

0:12:33 > 0:12:36and rolling in mud.

0:12:36 > 0:12:38She also loves to spin round and round

0:12:38 > 0:12:43with a watering can attached to a piece of string. Weird!

0:12:43 > 0:12:46But like many collies, Jess is extremely intelligent

0:12:46 > 0:12:50and when she's tired, she puts herself to bed without being told.

0:12:50 > 0:12:51Clever dog!

0:12:57 > 0:13:00One week on and the teams are back at the Doghouse.

0:13:00 > 0:13:02Everyone's been practising like crazy,

0:13:02 > 0:13:05hoping to nab that place in the quarter-finals.

0:13:05 > 0:13:09After my week away, I'm feeling good about being back at the Doghouse.

0:13:09 > 0:13:11'Jess is doing well, but

0:13:11 > 0:13:15'it's not one of her strongest things to do, trampolining

0:13:15 > 0:13:17'but I think she'll do OK.'

0:13:17 > 0:13:19It feels really great to be back at the Doghouse

0:13:19 > 0:13:22because it's a place that Charlie loves to be.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25'The hardest part of the training has got to be'

0:13:25 > 0:13:29just getting him to jump in the same spot

0:13:29 > 0:13:32because he'll jump up, he can jump so high.

0:13:32 > 0:13:35I'm really excited at being back at the Doghouse.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37We've been putting in lots of work,

0:13:37 > 0:13:39doing four hours a day,

0:13:39 > 0:13:44so Poppy's had a lot of training and she'll do really, really well.

0:13:44 > 0:13:47Here's your ball! See? Jump!

0:13:47 > 0:13:50- Good boy!- Hey, guys! How's it going?- Hi.

0:13:50 > 0:13:52Looks like training is going well here.

0:13:52 > 0:13:54Why don't you guys take a break for a minute?

0:13:54 > 0:13:56I'll work with Adele and Jess, if you don't mind.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59- Do you want to take the leash off? Let's do that.- Stay.

0:13:59 > 0:14:02Last week, Jess was easily distracted.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04I wonder how she'll do now.

0:14:04 > 0:14:06- Jump!- There we go!- Good girl!

0:14:06 > 0:14:09Come on, Jessie. Jump! Jump!

0:14:09 > 0:14:12I got to tell you, you guys - dramatic improvement since last week.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14Really good stuff there. You've put in a lot of time.

0:14:14 > 0:14:17- What's your training been like? - It's been OK.

0:14:17 > 0:14:20- I think she's doing really well. - She's got hops for sure.

0:14:20 > 0:14:22One thing that I would encourage,

0:14:22 > 0:14:26I love this idea, by the way, of having this out here,

0:14:26 > 0:14:28to encourage your dog to stay in the middle.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31Brilliant idea. And look at her focus. She's loving it there.

0:14:31 > 0:14:34I'll let you do this. Try picking up your energy a bit more.

0:14:34 > 0:14:37Let's see if we can get her more energetic, so she's more into it.

0:14:37 > 0:14:40Have you been throwing the ball as a reward?

0:14:40 > 0:14:42Do that right now, and just work up this way.

0:14:42 > 0:14:43Ready? Go fetch!

0:14:43 > 0:14:45At Showtime, points will only be awarded

0:14:45 > 0:14:49if all four paws are off the trampoline when the dog jumps

0:14:49 > 0:14:51and for that, they'll need loads of energy.

0:14:51 > 0:14:55Go right back into it, and see if we get a bit more energy out of her.

0:14:55 > 0:14:57Thank you. Here we go.

0:14:57 > 0:14:59Put it right in there. There you go. Keep her going.

0:14:59 > 0:15:02That's it! Come on, Jessie, jump!

0:15:02 > 0:15:04Look at her tail, wagging faster.

0:15:04 > 0:15:05CHARLIE BARKS

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Come on, Jessie!

0:15:07 > 0:15:10Absolutely wonderful. You see the difference in height there?

0:15:10 > 0:15:12Charlie? What's happening?

0:15:12 > 0:15:14I'm getting to you, buddy! I'm going to come in a second.

0:15:14 > 0:15:17Really good work. Keep up the good work.

0:15:17 > 0:15:20Ella and Charlie, what's all the noise about over here?

0:15:20 > 0:15:22He's getting too excited with his balls.

0:15:22 > 0:15:24I know, he likes to play so much.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26You're still using two tennis balls?

0:15:26 > 0:15:29- Yeah.- Why don't you show me where you are with your training?

0:15:29 > 0:15:30If you want to go off leash,

0:15:30 > 0:15:33I don't think Charlie's going anywhere if you have those balls.

0:15:33 > 0:15:36Charlie! Charlie! Drop it. Drop it!

0:15:36 > 0:15:38Charlie, drop it.

0:15:38 > 0:15:40What's this? Good boy. Drop.

0:15:40 > 0:15:44Wow! Ella's finally managed to get Charlie to let go of that ball

0:15:44 > 0:15:46and look at those jumps!

0:15:46 > 0:15:49- Good boy.- He's got hops too, man. Really, really good.

0:15:49 > 0:15:52And your energy is fantastic right now. You're into it,

0:15:52 > 0:15:56you're rewarding him. He's happy, and he is just ball crazy.

0:15:56 > 0:15:59This is the perfect trick for a dog like Charlie.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03You've got to focus on keeping him in the middle of the trampoline now.

0:16:03 > 0:16:06I'm going to move on to Georgia and Poppy. Really proud of you.

0:16:06 > 0:16:09You can take a break and put Charlie back on leash. Good work.

0:16:09 > 0:16:11It looks like Ella and Charlie and Adele and Jess

0:16:11 > 0:16:14might have a chance of beating Georgia and Poppy.

0:16:14 > 0:16:16But Zak still thinks Poppy can improve.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20When she brings it back, get right into it.

0:16:20 > 0:16:23- Leave it.- Here you go. Now get right into it.

0:16:23 > 0:16:26Look at her tail. Good! Right into it. Did you see that?

0:16:26 > 0:16:30- Look at her! Boom!- That's amazing! Glad Poppy's not scared of heights.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32That's what she's saying.

0:16:32 > 0:16:35- Get it!- Super impressed with all three of you guys.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37You've got one day left to practise.

0:16:37 > 0:16:40Keep up the good work, and I will see you tomorrow at Showtime.

0:16:40 > 0:16:42- Bye, guys! ALL:- Bye!

0:16:42 > 0:16:45Jumping on a trampoline can be fun

0:16:45 > 0:16:48but teaching how to do it correctly will keep it safe too

0:16:48 > 0:16:52so here are Zak's five steps to trampolining.

0:16:52 > 0:16:551 - Begin on the ground

0:16:55 > 0:16:58using food or play to encourage your dog to jump.

0:16:58 > 0:17:032 - Reward generously whenever you see a slight improvement.

0:17:03 > 0:17:083 - Progress to the trampoline but to start with, be extra cautious.

0:17:08 > 0:17:134 - Encourage your dog to remain in the middle of the trampoline.

0:17:13 > 0:17:165 - Pace your training, with plenty of rewards,

0:17:16 > 0:17:21lots of breaks, and you and your dog will be a happy trampolining team!

0:17:21 > 0:17:23The hardest part of the training

0:17:23 > 0:17:26has got to be just getting him to just jump in the same spot

0:17:26 > 0:17:29'and not fall off the trampoline when he's jumping.'

0:17:29 > 0:17:31Good boy!

0:17:31 > 0:17:34I'm feeling like 50-50 confident.

0:17:34 > 0:17:38On a scale of one to ten,

0:17:38 > 0:17:41my confidence would be around about eight.

0:17:41 > 0:17:44I think my biggest competition is probably going to be Adele

0:17:44 > 0:17:49because she's really, really communicating really well with Jess.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52My training session with Zak went really well.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54Jess paid attention all the time

0:17:54 > 0:17:56and her jumps were really good as well

0:17:56 > 0:18:01and she didn't really go wrong at all, so I'm really proud of her.

0:18:04 > 0:18:07Today, I'm going to show you how to teach your dog

0:18:07 > 0:18:09the single most important thing in the entire world.

0:18:09 > 0:18:13In fact, believe it not, it could even save their life. Come on, Nelly!

0:18:13 > 0:18:16Hey, girl. How you doing, beautiful? Look what I got.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18I got a treat for you! Nice work.

0:18:18 > 0:18:21OK, come around here, this way.

0:18:21 > 0:18:23Going to bring her around, just going to lure her back.

0:18:23 > 0:18:27Today we're going to learn how to teach our dog to stay.

0:18:27 > 0:18:30Stay can be pretty much broken up into three different categories.

0:18:30 > 0:18:33They can stay for a period of time, stay while you walk away

0:18:33 > 0:18:36and stay while they're heavily distracted.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39Once they master all three of those, you have a pretty solid stay.

0:18:39 > 0:18:40Let's start for a period of time.

0:18:40 > 0:18:44Don't ask for too much time too early. Nelly, stay.

0:18:44 > 0:18:46One, two, three. Yes! Good girl.

0:18:46 > 0:18:50A little treat there. Now let's go for five seconds.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52Stay. One, two, three,

0:18:52 > 0:18:53four, five.

0:18:53 > 0:18:56She's going for extra credit there.

0:18:56 > 0:18:58That was fantastic. Really good work.

0:18:58 > 0:19:01OK, Nelly. Now I feel like she understands stay with duration.

0:19:01 > 0:19:03I'll try to walk away now.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06Remember, we're building distance a little bit farther away here,

0:19:06 > 0:19:08just a little bit, and look at that.

0:19:08 > 0:19:11Very good. But again, not too much time, not too early.

0:19:11 > 0:19:13Don't be afraid to reward big with stay.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16It is such an important thing for our dogs to know.

0:19:16 > 0:19:19As a matter of fact, stay is a life-saving command.

0:19:19 > 0:19:22We want to treat it as though we were at a busy junction.

0:19:22 > 0:19:24If they stepped into the junction,

0:19:24 > 0:19:27what would we do? We want to make sure they stay with us.

0:19:27 > 0:19:30Now, we're going to try and see how well she does

0:19:30 > 0:19:33with stay with distractions, because stay doesn't really mean anything

0:19:33 > 0:19:36unless they'll do it when they're distracted. Stay.

0:19:36 > 0:19:37What's that?

0:19:40 > 0:19:43Very good, Nelly! That is perfect.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46You are free to go. You can do whatever you want now.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Once upon a time, there were some dogs

0:19:52 > 0:19:55who really, really loved listening to stories.

0:19:59 > 0:20:03Meet Audrey, a three-year-old Italian spinone,

0:20:03 > 0:20:05who loves nothing more than a good tale.

0:20:05 > 0:20:09So much so, she has actually decided to turn it into her job!

0:20:09 > 0:20:13Loveable Audrey works for the charity Pets As Therapy

0:20:13 > 0:20:16and pops into classrooms to calm everyone down

0:20:16 > 0:20:19so they won't be embarrassed reading.

0:20:19 > 0:20:20.."waiting for me."

0:20:20 > 0:20:22She's so relaxed and friendly

0:20:22 > 0:20:26that the children read and chat to her and tell her all their tales!

0:20:26 > 0:20:28Makes you more confident

0:20:28 > 0:20:32and helps believe in yourself how you can read to people.

0:20:32 > 0:20:33If you get lost reading a book,

0:20:33 > 0:20:36she'll put her paw on your leg and tell you where you are.

0:20:36 > 0:20:41Audrey is one of dozens of dogs who visit schools across the UK

0:20:41 > 0:20:44and check this out - the children not only make a new friend,

0:20:44 > 0:20:47but they also become more confident readers.

0:20:52 > 0:20:54Two weeks' intensive training is over

0:20:54 > 0:20:56and it's time for our three teams to go head-to-head

0:20:56 > 0:20:58for a place in the quarter-finals.

0:21:01 > 0:21:05Only one team will make it. For the others, the journey ends here.

0:21:05 > 0:21:07My biggest competition is probably Georgia,

0:21:07 > 0:21:09because her jumps are amazing

0:21:09 > 0:21:12and because she's got a spaniel, they're just really jumpy anyway,

0:21:12 > 0:21:14so I think she's really good.

0:21:14 > 0:21:16So who's got what it takes to win?

0:21:16 > 0:21:19'I want to be in the final really badly.'

0:21:19 > 0:21:21It'll mean a lot

0:21:21 > 0:21:26because it's one of the things I've wanted to do before I'm 16.

0:21:26 > 0:21:29And who will bounce their way into the quarter-final?

0:21:29 > 0:21:32'I'm feeling quite nervous.'

0:21:32 > 0:21:36It's like all the pressure is on me and Charlie to do really well.

0:21:36 > 0:21:37It's time to find out.

0:21:39 > 0:21:41It's Showtime for our trampolining dogs

0:21:41 > 0:21:45and this is where our dogs are going to be bouncing their way to victory.

0:21:45 > 0:21:49Each dog will have one minute to bounce as many times as they can.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52The dog with the most bounces will be the winner.

0:21:52 > 0:21:54In order for the points to count, however,

0:21:54 > 0:21:57all four paws must leave the trampoline.

0:21:57 > 0:22:01The winning team will move on to the quarter-finals.

0:22:01 > 0:22:03First up, Georgia and Poppy.

0:22:03 > 0:22:06Georgia and Poppy were the strongest team from the beginning

0:22:06 > 0:22:09and have sailed through training without any major problems.

0:22:09 > 0:22:13If they remain focused, that quarter-final spot will be theirs.

0:22:13 > 0:22:16Georgia and Poppy, your one minute starts now.

0:22:16 > 0:22:18Poppy, get it!

0:22:18 > 0:22:19Good girl!

0:22:19 > 0:22:21Poppy, get it!

0:22:21 > 0:22:25Poppy's still achieving great height on those jumps.

0:22:25 > 0:22:27No danger of dropping points there.

0:22:27 > 0:22:28Poppy, get it!

0:22:28 > 0:22:29Good girl.

0:22:29 > 0:22:33Georgia has decided to reward Poppy every time she jumps.

0:22:33 > 0:22:36That will slow her down a bit.

0:22:36 > 0:22:37Good girl.

0:22:37 > 0:22:39Poppy, get it.

0:22:39 > 0:22:40Good girl.

0:22:40 > 0:22:42They're into a good rhythm now,

0:22:42 > 0:22:43just like in training.

0:22:43 > 0:22:46- This is impressive stuff. - Poppy, get it.

0:22:46 > 0:22:48Poppy's totally focused on Georgia.

0:22:48 > 0:22:51These two have such a strong bond.

0:22:51 > 0:22:53Poppy, get it.

0:22:53 > 0:22:54Good girl.

0:22:54 > 0:22:56Poppy, get it. Poppy, get it.

0:22:56 > 0:22:59Looks like Poppy might be running out of steam

0:22:59 > 0:23:01and now the clock is against them.

0:23:01 > 0:23:03Good girl.

0:23:03 > 0:23:05Poppy, get it.

0:23:05 > 0:23:06Good girl.

0:23:06 > 0:23:08Poppy, get it.

0:23:08 > 0:23:09Good girl.

0:23:09 > 0:23:12Last five seconds. Is there time for one more?

0:23:12 > 0:23:14Poppy, get it.

0:23:14 > 0:23:15Good girl.

0:23:15 > 0:23:16Your time is up.

0:23:16 > 0:23:20Wonderful job. Really, really good work.

0:23:20 > 0:23:22Wow! 16 points.

0:23:22 > 0:23:26It's a strong score, and one the other teams might struggle to match.

0:23:26 > 0:23:29Next up, Adele and Jess.

0:23:29 > 0:23:32Jess was often distracted at the beginning of training

0:23:32 > 0:23:35and Adele has had to work hard to keep her focused.

0:23:35 > 0:23:37If Adele can't hold Jess's attention

0:23:37 > 0:23:41she'll have to kiss goodbye to that quarter-final place.

0:23:41 > 0:23:43Adele and Jess, your one minute starts now.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46Come on, Jessie! Jump!

0:23:46 > 0:23:48Jump! Good girl!

0:23:48 > 0:23:49Wow! An incredible start.

0:23:49 > 0:23:51These two are flying.

0:23:51 > 0:23:53Good girl, jump! Come on, jump!

0:23:53 > 0:23:56Look at that height! All four paws cleanly off the trampoline.

0:23:56 > 0:23:59Jump! Good. Come on!

0:23:59 > 0:24:01Good girl! Jump! Good girl!

0:24:01 > 0:24:03Jump! Good girl!

0:24:03 > 0:24:06But is Jess starting to run out of steam?

0:24:06 > 0:24:08Adele will have to reward her soon

0:24:08 > 0:24:09or she'll lose interest entirely.

0:24:09 > 0:24:11Jump! Good girl!

0:24:11 > 0:24:14Jump! Good girl! Jump!

0:24:14 > 0:24:17That's 17 points. They've beaten Georgia and Poppy's score.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20Adele's using Zak's technique of playing fetch

0:24:20 > 0:24:21to keep Jess's energy up.

0:24:21 > 0:24:23Clever stuff.

0:24:23 > 0:24:26Oh, no! That's vital seconds they're losing.

0:24:26 > 0:24:29Jump! Come on, jump!

0:24:29 > 0:24:32Good girl! Jump! Good girl! Jump!

0:24:32 > 0:24:34Come on, jump! Good girl!

0:24:34 > 0:24:35Just ten seconds left

0:24:38 > 0:24:41Good girl! Jump!

0:24:41 > 0:24:43Come on, jump! Good girl! Jump!

0:24:43 > 0:24:45Your time is up.

0:24:45 > 0:24:49Really, really nice. You're free to go. Good work, guys.

0:24:49 > 0:24:5332 points. They've smashed Georgia and Poppy's score.

0:24:53 > 0:24:55No-one saw that coming!

0:24:55 > 0:24:57Now Ella and Charlie have a mountain to climb.

0:24:59 > 0:25:01Next up, Ella and Charlie!

0:25:02 > 0:25:05Charlie was a ball-crazed maniac at the try-outs

0:25:05 > 0:25:08and Ella has struggled to keep control of him in training.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11This is their final chance to get it right.

0:25:13 > 0:25:16Ella and Charlie, your one minute starts now.

0:25:17 > 0:25:18Go, Charlie!

0:25:18 > 0:25:21Go, Charlie! Jump! Good!

0:25:21 > 0:25:24Jump! Jump! Good! Jump!

0:25:24 > 0:25:26Jump! Jump! Good!

0:25:26 > 0:25:29Wow! An impressive pace, but Charlie's straying close

0:25:29 > 0:25:33to the edge of that trampoline. Ella needs to watch that.

0:25:33 > 0:25:35Good! Come on! Good!

0:25:35 > 0:25:36Go, Charlie! Good! Good boy!

0:25:36 > 0:25:38Fantastic energy from Ella.

0:25:38 > 0:25:41It's been her strong suit all the way through training.

0:25:41 > 0:25:44And look at Charlie! He's completely focused.

0:25:44 > 0:25:46Jump! Good! Good!

0:25:46 > 0:25:47Good!

0:25:47 > 0:25:50They're getting close to Adele and Jess's score.

0:25:54 > 0:25:57Go, Charlie! Good boy!
