0:01:10 > 0:01:13and now they're one step closer to being in the final.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15TING!

0:01:15 > 0:01:17Steve! Where's Sully going to sit?

0:01:19 > 0:01:23Oh, yeah. I'll get the buggy.

0:01:24 > 0:01:25Anyway...

0:01:25 > 0:01:28Thomas and Barry, Ellie and Ruby, and Emily and Frankie

0:01:28 > 0:01:31have all got a really tough challenge today.

0:01:31 > 0:01:34So let's take a look at their journey so far.

0:01:37 > 0:01:40Ellie and Ruby had a difficult shopping challenge in their heats.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44And although Ruby struggled with some of the larger items...

0:01:44 > 0:01:46Ruby just likes to be in the shopping.

0:01:46 > 0:01:50..Come Showtime Ruby managed to fill that trolley like a pro

0:01:50 > 0:01:52and bag a place in the semi-finals.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54I'm excited to be back at the Dog House

0:01:54 > 0:01:57so Ruby can learn more about her new trick.

0:01:57 > 0:01:59For their assault course challenge,

0:01:59 > 0:02:02Thomas struggled to keep Barry focused on the task in hand.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06- OK.- Where are you going? - WHISTLING

0:02:06 > 0:02:09Thomas worked hard to keep Barry's interest, and it paid off.

0:02:09 > 0:02:12At Showtime, he leapt straight through to the next round.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18It's very exciting, terrifying almost,

0:02:18 > 0:02:21and I'm very much looking forward to learning what the trick is today.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26In the heats, Emily and Frankie had to master the art of flyball.

0:02:26 > 0:02:30But at the start poor Frankie couldn't quite get the hang of it.

0:02:30 > 0:02:34But when Showtime came the fabulous Frankie flew into action

0:02:34 > 0:02:36and grabbed his place in the semi-final.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40It's just amazing to be in the semi-final.

0:02:40 > 0:02:42It just feels like it's real now,

0:02:42 > 0:02:44that I can actually get on and do something

0:02:44 > 0:02:46and I'm that bit closer to winning.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Day 1 at the Dog House

0:02:50 > 0:02:53and Ashleigh and Steve are about to reveal today's challenge.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55- Hi, guys.- Hey, gang, you all right?

0:02:55 > 0:02:57Now, do any of you have any idea

0:02:57 > 0:03:01- what we're going to be doing?- No!

0:03:01 > 0:03:02Not a clue!

0:03:02 > 0:03:07OK, with a sleight of hands I can reveal that you guys

0:03:07 > 0:03:10are going to learn how to perform with this.

0:03:11 > 0:03:14- Ta-ra!- A magic box.

0:03:15 > 0:03:17Here's how it works.

0:03:17 > 0:03:20Your dog must enter the magic box and you'll close the door.

0:03:20 > 0:03:22Next you will utter some magic words

0:03:22 > 0:03:25and when the door is opened the dog should have vanished completely.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28The door will be closed again,

0:03:28 > 0:03:30you'll say some more magic words

0:03:30 > 0:03:33and when you open the door the dog will have magically reappeared.

0:03:33 > 0:03:37The first step is about getting them used to going into that box.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40Leave the door open, encourage them in, take it nice and slow.

0:03:40 > 0:03:42They need to be happy, they need to be confident with the kit.

0:03:42 > 0:03:46And then slowly, each repetition, the door closes a little bit more.

0:03:46 > 0:03:48A little bit more, that's good, a little bit more...

0:03:48 > 0:03:51Once we can get to that point with the dog going in,

0:03:51 > 0:03:53you can close the door.

0:03:53 > 0:03:57Then, on your cue, your magic word, that's going to be the cue,

0:03:57 > 0:04:00the command for your dog to come out the back through the curtain.

0:04:00 > 0:04:04That's the plan. When I come back, I want to see the magic.

0:04:04 > 0:04:06- OK, I'll see you later.- Bye.

0:04:06 > 0:04:10So, Emily and Thomas, you're just going to step aside

0:04:10 > 0:04:13- and give Ellie enough room here, OK? See you in a bit.- See you later.

0:04:13 > 0:04:14Bye.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16So, Ruby, then. Shall we try and get her in there?

0:04:16 > 0:04:19- In.- Oh, good girl. Loads of praise.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21Ruby is perfectly happy in there.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23but will she feel the same when the door closes?

0:04:23 > 0:04:24Sit.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27Oh, good girl.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29- Give her a treat. - Good girl. Well done.

0:04:29 > 0:04:32So this time do you think we'll be able to close it all the way?

0:04:32 > 0:04:36- Er...maybe.- I want you to be really talking, really vocal with her,

0:04:36 > 0:04:39because once this door closes she won't be able to see you any more.

0:04:39 > 0:04:41Wait. Good girl. Wait.

0:04:41 > 0:04:44- Wait.- Give her a treat.- Good girl.

0:04:44 > 0:04:47Well, Ruby's off to a good start, but how is Ellie feeling?

0:04:47 > 0:04:50I don't know if I'm feeling that confident,

0:04:50 > 0:04:54because I don't know if I'll be a good showman for Ruby,

0:04:54 > 0:04:56but I think she'll be OK.

0:04:56 > 0:04:58Right, Thomas and Barry, then, up you come.

0:04:58 > 0:05:00What we're going to do

0:05:00 > 0:05:03- is try and get him into that box. Loads and loads of praise.- In.

0:05:03 > 0:05:04Sit.

0:05:04 > 0:05:05Wait.

0:05:06 > 0:05:07Wait.

0:05:08 > 0:05:10- Wait.- Good boy. Give him a treat.

0:05:10 > 0:05:13- Wait. Good lad.- Yeah! - That's a clever man.

0:05:13 > 0:05:15So this time I'm going to try and fully close it, OK?

0:05:15 > 0:05:17Wait.

0:05:17 > 0:05:20Time to find out if Barry is afraid of the dark.

0:05:20 > 0:05:21Wait. Wait.

0:05:21 > 0:05:22Good boy. Wait.

0:05:22 > 0:05:23Wait.

0:05:23 > 0:05:26- Good boy. Give him a treat.- Good lad.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29Mmm...I'm not sure Barry was too keen on that door closing.

0:05:29 > 0:05:31But he got there in the end.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34I was very shocked when the trick was revealed.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36I thought it was going to be something different, but it wasn't.

0:05:36 > 0:05:41And it was the magic box, which is one of the ones I was dreading.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43So Emily and Frankie now then.

0:05:43 > 0:05:45Frankie, in you go.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47Go on, in you go.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50- Go on. Yeah.- Give him a treat for that one.- You wait there.

0:05:50 > 0:05:52- You wait in there.- Good.

0:05:52 > 0:05:56You waiting? Good boy. Good. Wait. Oh, yeah.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58- Good boy. Give him a treat.- Good boy! - CLICK!

0:05:58 > 0:06:01Ah, sounds like Emily is using a clicker.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04Wondering what a clicker is? Well, listen up.

0:06:04 > 0:06:05Dog trainers use a clicky thing

0:06:05 > 0:06:07to tell their dog they've done something right.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09They click, give a treat,

0:06:09 > 0:06:13and the dog soon learns that a click means a treat is on its way.

0:06:13 > 0:06:16- Very good.- So this time, if Frankie puts his head in,

0:06:16 > 0:06:19we'll try closing it fully.

0:06:19 > 0:06:21You wait there. Are you waiting?

0:06:21 > 0:06:23Maybe try using your treats. There we go.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26CLICK! Good boy! Well done.

0:06:26 > 0:06:29When the trick was revealed, I was really excited,

0:06:29 > 0:06:31because I'd seen it in previous series

0:06:31 > 0:06:32and I'd really wanted to do it.

0:06:32 > 0:06:36I'm quite, like, in your face, kind of thing,

0:06:36 > 0:06:38so I don't know I might be able to cook something up at home.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44Dogs are known for being very friendly

0:06:44 > 0:06:47and giving out bags of unconditional love.

0:06:47 > 0:06:51Take a look at these crazy canines and their very slick social network.

0:06:51 > 0:06:54# Ooh, you make me live... #

0:06:55 > 0:06:58Many dogs like to keep their social networks varied

0:06:58 > 0:07:00and can find companionship with almost any animal.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04Cats, for example, give excellent beauty tips.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08But they can be a bit clingy!

0:07:12 > 0:07:15And you really don't want to get on the wrong side of them.

0:07:16 > 0:07:19Birds, on the other hand, know a lot about hygiene.

0:07:19 > 0:07:22This one's giving dental advice, but don't disagree with them,

0:07:22 > 0:07:24because they can be very argumentative.

0:07:25 > 0:07:28Of course some animals don't want to be friends at all.

0:07:33 > 0:07:36Still to come on Who Let the Dogs Out?

0:07:36 > 0:07:38we learn all about an unlikely friendship...

0:07:38 > 0:07:43and our three teams go face to face in a very magical Showtime.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53While Ashleigh's been away, the teams have been busy training.

0:07:53 > 0:07:55Now, they're ready for the next step.

0:07:56 > 0:07:59So how's Frankie been getting on?

0:07:59 > 0:08:01Really good. I can shut the door now.

0:08:01 > 0:08:04Oh, OK. All I want you to do... You're going to close it,

0:08:04 > 0:08:06as soon as you close it, you're going to call him out.

0:08:06 > 0:08:08- But this time I'm going to just lift a couple up.- OK.- OK.

0:08:08 > 0:08:12Just so he has a bit of light in there and you can see where you are.

0:08:12 > 0:08:13Ashleigh is pulling up the curtain

0:08:13 > 0:08:16so Frankie can see his exit from the box better.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18Good boy. Right, go on in.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20Good boy.

0:08:20 > 0:08:21Very good. Right, you wait there.

0:08:21 > 0:08:23You wait there.

0:08:23 > 0:08:25Frankie looks like he knows exactly what to do.

0:08:27 > 0:08:29Frankie, come on, this way!

0:08:29 > 0:08:32- Good boy!- Yeah, good boy! Well done! Loads of praise for that.

0:08:32 > 0:08:34- Good boy.- Brilliant. OK.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37So you just need to carry on working on that at the moment.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39Frankie is doing well with his training,

0:08:39 > 0:08:43and as Emily is very confident about her own performance at Showtime

0:08:43 > 0:08:45they could be the ones to beat.

0:08:46 > 0:08:47Training went really well,

0:08:47 > 0:08:49he's got the idea of getting into the box

0:08:49 > 0:08:51and he knows what he's got to do,

0:08:51 > 0:08:54so it's just a question of getting my act prepared

0:08:54 > 0:08:55and that kind of thing today.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58Time to see if Ellie and Ruby are making progress.

0:08:58 > 0:09:00So how's she been getting on?

0:09:00 > 0:09:02- She's doing OK. - That's what I like to hear.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05And what about coming out at the back? Has she been doing that fine?

0:09:05 > 0:09:07Ruby...out.

0:09:07 > 0:09:10- Good girl!- Right, let's put all of these down now.

0:09:10 > 0:09:14So what I want you to do is I'm going to close the door...

0:09:14 > 0:09:15as soon as I close the door,

0:09:15 > 0:09:18- then you're going to give your out command, OK?- OK.

0:09:18 > 0:09:19In.

0:09:21 > 0:09:23Ruby, out.

0:09:23 > 0:09:25Good girl!

0:09:25 > 0:09:26Perfect. Well done.

0:09:26 > 0:09:29Ruby seems to be taking this challenge in her stride.

0:09:29 > 0:09:32It's Ellie now who needs to find some confidence.

0:09:33 > 0:09:37I quite like the trick but I'm not sure about me being very good at it.

0:09:37 > 0:09:40Thomas and Barry, come on, then.

0:09:40 > 0:09:42On you go in. In.

0:09:42 > 0:09:43Sit.

0:09:43 > 0:09:45Wait.

0:09:45 > 0:09:48Barry's still reluctant to put his head in.

0:09:48 > 0:09:49OK. Bring him back out.

0:09:49 > 0:09:52Don't give him a treat for that, OK?

0:09:52 > 0:09:56- So if he doesn't tuck his head in, he gets no treats for that.- Right.

0:09:56 > 0:09:57So he knows he didn't do that too good.

0:09:57 > 0:09:59- Give that another go.- In.

0:09:59 > 0:10:02In. In.

0:10:02 > 0:10:03There. Sit. Wait.

0:10:03 > 0:10:05Wait.

0:10:05 > 0:10:06Wait.

0:10:06 > 0:10:08Wait. Good boy.

0:10:08 > 0:10:10That's it, Barry!

0:10:10 > 0:10:12Give him his treat. Well done.

0:10:12 > 0:10:15For the moment, I'd work on closing it.

0:10:15 > 0:10:17Like I said, don't give him a treat if he doesn't do it.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19OK? Go give him a rest, then.

0:10:19 > 0:10:21I'm not very confident,

0:10:21 > 0:10:25but I'm going to focus on trying to get Barry to sit in the box

0:10:25 > 0:10:27and being able to close the door.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31Some breeds of dogs might find jumping in and out of a magic box

0:10:31 > 0:10:32easier than others.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35So let's take a look at how these guys measure up

0:10:35 > 0:10:36in their Mutt Measurements.

0:10:38 > 0:10:39Barry's a Springer spaniel

0:10:39 > 0:10:42and he loves to run and jump and fetch.

0:10:42 > 0:10:46Now, Barry is named after a singer called Barry Manilow

0:10:46 > 0:10:48who sang a song called Could It Be Magic.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51I don't think that will help him win this challenge, though.

0:10:51 > 0:10:55What will help is that spaniels can be very smart and focused.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58And that is exactly what's needed for this magic trick.

0:11:00 > 0:11:03Frankie is a collie cross with very long legs.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06Like many collie crosses, Frankie is very athletic

0:11:06 > 0:11:08and has loads of energy.

0:11:08 > 0:11:10Mmm...not very useful when you're sitting in a box.

0:11:10 > 0:11:14Luckily for Frankie, he's incredibly smart and loves new tricks,

0:11:14 > 0:11:17so he should have no trouble with this challenge.

0:11:19 > 0:11:22Ruby is a Yorkshire terrier.

0:11:22 > 0:11:25Yorkshire terriers, or Yorkies for short,

0:11:25 > 0:11:28are usually clever little dogs that love to learn new things.

0:11:28 > 0:11:31So Ellie should have no problem teaching Ruby the magic trick.

0:11:33 > 0:11:35Yorkies are often attention-seekers,

0:11:35 > 0:11:37and if this is true of Ruby

0:11:37 > 0:11:40then she is going to love being in the limelight.

0:11:43 > 0:11:48It's Day 2 of training and expert dog trainer Steve is back

0:11:48 > 0:11:51to take them through the next few steps of the magic trick challenge.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53Right, listen up, gang.

0:11:53 > 0:11:55The next couple of stages, they're tricky.

0:11:55 > 0:11:57You've got to encourage your dog to go out the back

0:11:57 > 0:12:01on your magic word, but I need them to stay in one place,

0:12:01 > 0:12:03so the audience can't see.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05You're going to show your box is empty.

0:12:05 > 0:12:07Then you're going to have a command

0:12:07 > 0:12:10where you're going to encourage your dog to hop back in again.

0:12:10 > 0:12:12So think about a word that you can use for that as well.

0:12:12 > 0:12:16And one more thing, when you're doing the trick at Showtime

0:12:16 > 0:12:18I'd really like you to be able to stay in the one place.

0:12:18 > 0:12:21You're just here, going your magic, opening and closing the door.

0:12:21 > 0:12:23That's going to look more impressive.

0:12:23 > 0:12:26- Make sense?- Yeah. - OK, crack on with your training

0:12:26 > 0:12:29- and I'll catch you later. Bye-bye. - Bye.- Bye.

0:12:29 > 0:12:32I'm going to start with Ellie and Ruby. So start exactly the same.

0:12:32 > 0:12:34Ruby.

0:12:35 > 0:12:36In.

0:12:36 > 0:12:37Sit.

0:12:37 > 0:12:39Well, Ruby is doing everything right.

0:12:39 > 0:12:41I'm not sure about Ellie, though.

0:12:41 > 0:12:43Remember what Steve said. You've already made one mistake.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46- Come round here. Start that again. - Out.

0:12:46 > 0:12:48I'm going to lift a couple of these up.

0:12:48 > 0:12:52I want you to try to get her to go back in this way. OK?

0:12:52 > 0:12:54- Ruby.- Try it.- In.

0:12:55 > 0:12:56Ruby.

0:12:56 > 0:12:58Wait. Sit.

0:13:01 > 0:13:02Ruby!

0:13:02 > 0:13:03Come.

0:13:03 > 0:13:05Ruby, sit!

0:13:06 > 0:13:07Wait.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10Good girl. In.

0:13:10 > 0:13:12- Brilliant!- Good girl!

0:13:12 > 0:13:14Give her a treat. That was perfect. Well done.

0:13:14 > 0:13:17So at the moment I think we should just keep working on that.

0:13:17 > 0:13:19- Well done, Ruby. Well done, Ellie. - Thank you.- Good!

0:13:19 > 0:13:22So, Thomas and Barry. How are we getting on?

0:13:22 > 0:13:24It's going good.

0:13:24 > 0:13:26- I'd love to take a look.- Wait!

0:13:26 > 0:13:27Wait!

0:13:27 > 0:13:29Looks like Barry's got over his fear of the dark.

0:13:31 > 0:13:32Sit. Wait.

0:13:32 > 0:13:34Barry.

0:13:34 > 0:13:35Sit.

0:13:35 > 0:13:37Wait. Wait.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41No, Barry, we don't want to see your bottom!

0:13:42 > 0:13:44Barry. Here, boy, here.

0:13:44 > 0:13:46- Sit.- Good. Well done.

0:13:46 > 0:13:49Good. Sometimes you should just practise on your own.

0:13:49 > 0:13:53OK? Pretend Barry's there, so you get used to performing, OK?

0:13:53 > 0:13:56It's what I do with Pudsey when I'm doing dance routines.

0:13:56 > 0:13:59So I can get into it, I practise it on my own.

0:13:59 > 0:14:00Great. Well done. Carry on.

0:14:01 > 0:14:03- So, Emily and Frankie.- Wait there.

0:14:03 > 0:14:05Come on.

0:14:05 > 0:14:07- Straight in there.- Good boy.

0:14:07 > 0:14:08Now, you wait there.

0:14:08 > 0:14:11You waiting? Very good wait.

0:14:11 > 0:14:13Good boy. You wait there.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15Out you come. This way.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17Sit.

0:14:17 > 0:14:19That's beautiful.

0:14:19 > 0:14:22Emily and Frankie seem very confident with their performance.

0:14:22 > 0:14:23You waiting?

0:14:23 > 0:14:25Very good wait.

0:14:26 > 0:14:29Oh, yeah! What a good boy!

0:14:29 > 0:14:31Very clever. Come on, then, out you come.

0:14:31 > 0:14:33- Good. Well done.- Very clever.

0:14:33 > 0:14:36So the first thing I would say is when you come back here,

0:14:36 > 0:14:39because you're right over here, Frankie is coming from the box

0:14:39 > 0:14:42and sitting, waiting far away from it, OK?

0:14:42 > 0:14:44So our audience at home will be, like,

0:14:44 > 0:14:47"Frankie's just there, I can see him! He hasn't disappeared." OK?

0:14:47 > 0:14:51- So you want to be as close as possible.- OK.- Is that OK?- Yeah.

0:14:51 > 0:14:54Good. Well done. Right, guys, hold it there.

0:14:54 > 0:14:57You're putting so much effort in. That is brilliant.

0:14:57 > 0:15:01Now, I will see you back here in two weeks' time for our Showtime. OK?

0:15:01 > 0:15:03- Bye.- Bye.

0:15:03 > 0:15:07Now, listen up, if you want to teach your dog the magic box trick,

0:15:07 > 0:15:08then here are the five steps.

0:15:09 > 0:15:12Teach your dog to jump into the box.

0:15:13 > 0:15:16Encourage your dog to stay in the box with the door closed.

0:15:18 > 0:15:21Teach your dog to slip out the back of the box

0:15:21 > 0:15:23using a magical command.

0:15:24 > 0:15:26Whilst showing the audience an empty box,

0:15:26 > 0:15:29have your dog remain out of sight.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32Teach your dog to jump back into the box

0:15:32 > 0:15:34on hearing another magical word.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37The trainers have had all the help they will get

0:15:37 > 0:15:40and now head home to practise their performances.

0:15:40 > 0:15:43In two weeks, they will return for Showtime.

0:15:43 > 0:15:45I'm feeling pretty confident about Showtime

0:15:45 > 0:15:48because I think he will manage to do it

0:15:48 > 0:15:51and I think I might be able to cook something up

0:15:51 > 0:15:54that's reasonably inventive that might get me some points.

0:15:54 > 0:15:57What didn't go so well was when I sent Barry back in,

0:15:57 > 0:16:00he would turn around and face out the back of the box,

0:16:00 > 0:16:04so when I opened the door he had his bum facing me.

0:16:04 > 0:16:06That wasn't very good.

0:16:06 > 0:16:10At home I'm going to work on getting her to wait, stay in a bit longer...

0:16:10 > 0:16:14..and maybe getting her to do some tricks while she's in there

0:16:14 > 0:16:15to make it look a bit more interesting.

0:16:15 > 0:16:18And then I need to work on myself as well.

0:16:22 > 0:16:25This is my new puppy and he's called Sully.

0:16:25 > 0:16:28And he's only 13 weeks old, so he's still a bit of a baby.

0:16:28 > 0:16:31And today we're going to be showing you how easy it is

0:16:31 > 0:16:33teaching your puppy a sit.

0:16:33 > 0:16:34It's quite simple.

0:16:34 > 0:16:38It's one of the first things you teach your new puppy.

0:16:38 > 0:16:40So make sure you have lots of food. Good boy.

0:16:40 > 0:16:43And all I'm going to do is have his treat in my hand

0:16:43 > 0:16:47and I'm going to guide it upwards and back as well.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51Good boy. Until he puts his bottom on the floor.

0:16:51 > 0:16:52Good boy!

0:16:52 > 0:16:55That's good! Ready...steady...

0:16:56 > 0:16:59Good boy. Once they start getting the gist,

0:16:59 > 0:17:02you start giving them your command to sit...ready...

0:17:02 > 0:17:03sit!

0:17:03 > 0:17:06Good boy! Well done.

0:17:06 > 0:17:08And once they start learning their commands as well,

0:17:08 > 0:17:11you can start gradually bringing your hand away. Ready, Sully?

0:17:11 > 0:17:13Ready...sit.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16Good boy. Well done.

0:17:16 > 0:17:17Good!

0:17:17 > 0:17:21So remember it's never too soon to start teaching your puppy new tricks.

0:17:27 > 0:17:29I know Pudsey better than anyone,

0:17:29 > 0:17:32but every now and then he still surprises me

0:17:32 > 0:17:36by doing something completely out of the ordinary.

0:17:36 > 0:17:39But nothing quite like what you are about to see next...

0:17:44 > 0:17:47This is the strange story of an unlikely friendship

0:17:47 > 0:17:49between Orville, the baby goose,

0:17:49 > 0:17:52and Ruby, the Staffordshire bull terrier.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54When Orville was only a week old

0:17:54 > 0:17:57he was found wandering about, all alone.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00He was taken to the Whitehall dog rehoming centre in Leeds

0:18:00 > 0:18:02and that's when he first saw Ruby.

0:18:02 > 0:18:04Ruby were there right from the beginning.

0:18:04 > 0:18:08And I think he saw her as sort of like this mother figure.

0:18:08 > 0:18:11He just started following her around

0:18:11 > 0:18:12and he got to the point

0:18:12 > 0:18:15where he wouldn't go out unless Ruby were there.

0:18:15 > 0:18:17And she loves him and he loves her.

0:18:17 > 0:18:21Now Orville goes on three walks a day with Ruby

0:18:21 > 0:18:25and when Ruby isn't around Orville is one unhappy gosling.

0:18:25 > 0:18:28So why did Orville take such a shine to Ruby?

0:18:29 > 0:18:32Why was he called Orville when that's the name of a duck?

0:18:32 > 0:18:34I guess we'll never know.

0:18:41 > 0:18:43After two weeks of training,

0:18:43 > 0:18:47time has finally run out for our young magicians!

0:18:47 > 0:18:50Who has done enough to earn that all-important final place?

0:18:53 > 0:18:55It's the moment we've all been waiting for.

0:18:55 > 0:18:57Showtime is upon us,

0:18:57 > 0:19:01and only one of today's teams can go through to the final.

0:19:01 > 0:19:04I'm feeling really confident about Showtime. I know he can do it,

0:19:04 > 0:19:07so if he mucks up it's just cos he's a plank on the day.

0:19:07 > 0:19:11So who will cast a winning spell on our judges?

0:19:11 > 0:19:13My chances are 50/50 of getting through to the final.

0:19:13 > 0:19:16The training's not been going the best, but it's been OK.

0:19:17 > 0:19:20And whose performance will go up in a puff of smoke?

0:19:20 > 0:19:23The tactic for today is to try and speak as loud as I can

0:19:23 > 0:19:26so that she definitely hears what I'm telling her to do.

0:19:26 > 0:19:29It's time to find out.

0:19:32 > 0:19:36It's Showtime and this is where it's all happening.

0:19:36 > 0:19:38Our teams will receive 1 point

0:19:38 > 0:19:41for every part of the trick they perform correctly.

0:19:41 > 0:19:45On top of that, they will receive a mark out of 5 for their showmanship.

0:19:45 > 0:19:48So me and Steve will be looking for really smooth performances.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51Hang on...where is Steve?

0:19:53 > 0:19:54Surprise!

0:19:54 > 0:19:56Steve, get out of there!

0:19:57 > 0:19:58Honestly!

0:19:58 > 0:20:01You've been watching our dogs behind the scenes.

0:20:01 > 0:20:03Which team do you think is going to win today?

0:20:03 > 0:20:06Purely for performance and a bit of razzle-dazzle,

0:20:06 > 0:20:08I'm going to go Emily and I'm going to go Frankie.

0:20:08 > 0:20:11OK, well, why are we waiting here?

0:20:11 > 0:20:13- let's see what happens. - Let's get on with it. Let's go.

0:20:15 > 0:20:16When we last saw Thomas and Barry,

0:20:16 > 0:20:18training was making steady progress,

0:20:18 > 0:20:21although Barry was making a few small mistakes with his performance.

0:20:21 > 0:20:24Have they perfected their routine for Showtime?

0:20:25 > 0:20:29Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to be dazzled and amazed

0:20:29 > 0:20:33by the tremendous Thomas and his brilliant assistant Barry!

0:20:33 > 0:20:36Hello there. My name's the Fabulous Thomas

0:20:36 > 0:20:37and this is young Barry.

0:20:37 > 0:20:39We're going to make Barry here disappear, aren't we, Barry?

0:20:39 > 0:20:41Good boy!

0:20:41 > 0:20:43So, Barry, can you get inside the box?

0:20:44 > 0:20:45Good boy.

0:20:45 > 0:20:47I'm going to tap my wand on the box twice.

0:20:47 > 0:20:49Barry will disappear.

0:20:53 > 0:20:57As you can see, Barry's completely vanished from inside the box.

0:20:59 > 0:21:04Here...can you see if you've seen my dog anywhere?

0:21:05 > 0:21:07What's that?

0:21:07 > 0:21:10Wait, that's not Barry, that's just a toy.

0:21:10 > 0:21:13Right, does anybody know where Barry is?

0:21:13 > 0:21:16I'm going to try whistling twice. Hopefully, Barry will reappear.

0:21:17 > 0:21:18HE WHISTLES

0:21:18 > 0:21:21And as you can see, Barry is now inside the box.

0:21:22 > 0:21:25Right, high five. Barry, come here.

0:21:25 > 0:21:26Barry!

0:21:26 > 0:21:28High five! Yeah. Good boy.

0:21:29 > 0:21:32Well, that was a great performance from Thomas and Barry.

0:21:32 > 0:21:35Although we did see Barry appear behind the box

0:21:35 > 0:21:39and we could see Barry's tail wagging when he got inside it.

0:21:39 > 0:21:41They'll lose points for that.

0:21:42 > 0:21:44Now it's time for Emily and Frankie.

0:21:44 > 0:21:47They have found this trick easy from the word go,

0:21:47 > 0:21:47and Emily knows

0:21:47 > 0:21:51that she has the confidence to pull a great performance out of the bag.

0:21:51 > 0:21:53But now it's Showtime and the stakes are high.

0:21:53 > 0:21:55Will the pressure get to them?

0:21:55 > 0:21:58It gives me great pleasure to present

0:21:58 > 0:22:02the amazing Emily and Frankie the fantastic!

0:22:02 > 0:22:04Hello! I am the amazing Emily

0:22:04 > 0:22:07and this is my fabulous four-legged friend Frankie,

0:22:07 > 0:22:10fondly known as Frank the plank.

0:22:10 > 0:22:11Today we are going to astound you

0:22:11 > 0:22:13with the most difficult of magic tricks

0:22:13 > 0:22:15and make Frankie here vanish.

0:22:15 > 0:22:19So without further ado, Frankie, would you like to get in the box?

0:22:19 > 0:22:21Frank...and sit.

0:22:21 > 0:22:24Frankie, sit.

0:22:24 > 0:22:25Thank you.

0:22:26 > 0:22:29Right. I say the magic words.

0:22:29 > 0:22:32One, two, three, abracadabra, disappear!

0:22:32 > 0:22:35And Frankie should have gone.

0:22:36 > 0:22:39This magic wand's broken.

0:22:39 > 0:22:43They've given me a duff wand. Right, shall we try again, Frank?

0:22:43 > 0:22:45Right, duck your head.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47There, that's right.

0:22:47 > 0:22:50One, two, three, abracadabra, disappear!

0:22:51 > 0:22:55And right, this time, maybe he'll have gone.

0:22:55 > 0:22:58And again! What's wrong with this wand?

0:22:58 > 0:23:00Right, one last time...

0:23:00 > 0:23:02one for good luck. Third time lucky, Frank?

0:23:02 > 0:23:04Right.

0:23:04 > 0:23:05And disappear...

0:23:05 > 0:23:10Ready...abracadabra, one, two, three, disappear!

0:23:11 > 0:23:13And Frankie should have gone.

0:23:15 > 0:23:18It worked... so now to bring him back...

0:23:18 > 0:23:22Abracadabra, one, two, three, magic!

0:23:23 > 0:23:26And he's returned! Oh, well done!

0:23:26 > 0:23:29Frankie, we've missed you ever so much!

0:23:29 > 0:23:31Take a bow, Frank.

0:23:31 > 0:23:33Very, very good!

0:23:33 > 0:23:35Emily's performance was brilliant.

0:23:35 > 0:23:39But twice Frankie got back into the box too soon.

0:23:39 > 0:23:40This magic wand's broken.

0:23:40 > 0:23:44They'll lose points for that, but Emily covered up well.

0:23:44 > 0:23:46Was her performance good enough to win?

0:23:47 > 0:23:49Ellie and Ruby are up next.

0:23:49 > 0:23:53Throughout training Ruby has mastered every step of the trick,

0:23:53 > 0:23:55but it's been Ellie's own performance

0:23:55 > 0:23:56that's been worrying her.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00Has Ellie found the confidence to match Ruby

0:24:00 > 0:24:02and put on a star performance?

0:24:02 > 0:24:06Ladies and gentlemen, the Who Let the Dogs Out? House of Magic

0:24:06 > 0:24:11presents the enigmatic Ellie and her incredible assistant Ruby!

0:24:11 > 0:24:16Hello. I'd like to introduce you to my glamorous assistant Ruby.

0:24:16 > 0:24:17Give them a wave.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20So Ruby's going to help me with a magic trick,

0:24:20 > 0:24:22but first she has to get in the box.

0:24:23 > 0:24:25Inside.

0:24:26 > 0:24:29Today I'm going to make Ruby vanish,

0:24:29 > 0:24:33but before my magic starts to work I need to close the door.

0:24:33 > 0:24:34See you later.

0:24:37 > 0:24:43Now, with a few flicks of my wand, abracadabra...

0:24:43 > 0:24:46she will disappear from the box.

0:24:46 > 0:24:48Now, let's see if it's worked.

0:24:51 > 0:24:54I think she's nervous. She's going out on a date.

0:24:54 > 0:24:56See you later.

0:24:57 > 0:25:01Now, my dog will disappear from the box!

0:25:02 > 0:25:04I think she built up her courage,

0:25:04 > 0:25:07because she's definitely not in there.

0:25:08 > 0:25:10She's not under there either.

0:25:12 > 0:25:14I can't think where she might have gotten to.

0:25:14 > 0:25:16Maybe she's on a date with Pudsey!

0:25:18 > 0:25:22Now, before she gets up to any mischief which she does quite often,

0:25:22 > 0:25:23I think I should get her back.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26So, with a few more flicks of my wand,

0:25:26 > 0:25:31alacazam, she will reappear inside the box!

0:25:32 > 0:25:35She's back! Give them a wave.

0:25:36 > 0:25:39Now, Ruby's also got a little message to give you.

0:25:44 > 0:25:46Thank you for watching.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50A practically perfect performance from Ellie and Ruby.

0:25:50 > 0:25:53And although Ruby jumped back into the box too soon...

0:25:53 > 0:25:56I think she's nervous. She's going out on a date.

0:25:56 > 0:25:58..Ellie covered it well, like a true performer.

0:25:58 > 0:26:02So which of our teams are going through to the final?

0:26:06 > 0:26:09Well, guys, that was such a difficult challenge,

0:26:09 > 0:26:11and not only did your dogs perform really well,

0:26:11 > 0:26:13I'm so impressed with you three as well.

0:26:13 > 0:26:17Well, I can now reveal that the winner of the semi-final

0:26:17 > 0:26:20and going through to the grand final is...

0:26:30 > 0:26:31..Ellie and Ruby!

0:26:31 > 0:26:33Well done. Good work.

0:26:33 > 0:26:37Well done, guys. How do you feel? You're going through to the final!

0:26:37 > 0:26:40- Excited.- Excited? That's what I like to hear.- Good girl!

0:26:40 > 0:26:42Thomas and Barry, you worked so hard

0:26:42 > 0:26:44so you should be really, really proud.
