0:01:34 > 0:01:38Well, today we have Cel and Bella, Aaron and Poppy and Katie and Jessie

0:01:38 > 0:01:40and here's what they normally get up to.

0:01:44 > 0:01:47Hello, I'm Cel. I'm a presenter and actor.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50You might know me from Friday Download and presenting on CBBC.

0:01:51 > 0:01:53Hello, and welcome to Backstage Download.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58My dog is Bella. She's a Weimaraner.

0:01:58 > 0:02:01She's a cool dog and she's a good companion.

0:02:03 > 0:02:06When Who Let The Dogs Out asked me to come on, I was like, "Yes! Yes!

0:02:06 > 0:02:08"This is Bella's moment to shine."

0:02:08 > 0:02:10If she can do the trick. Hopefully.

0:02:13 > 0:02:16OK, bakers, have you washed your hands?

0:02:16 > 0:02:18- KIDS:- Yes! - Bake!

0:02:19 > 0:02:25Hello. My name is Aaron. I am a presenter on Junior Bake Off and Pet School.

0:02:26 > 0:02:29Hang around because things are going to get a lot more exciting.

0:02:29 > 0:02:34I am here with Poppy-doo, my lovely Belgian shepherd cross.

0:02:34 > 0:02:40Poppy is very loving, very excitable and she loves her dad.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50Hello, I'm Katie and I'm a presenter from the CBBC Office.

0:02:50 > 0:02:53Hey, dancing - dancing dogs are really popular at the moment.

0:02:53 > 0:02:55No, no, no, no, no. Dancing's not my thing.

0:02:55 > 0:02:56For me, it's all about the comedy.

0:02:56 > 0:02:59My dog is actually my sister's dog, who I look after.

0:02:59 > 0:03:02She's called Jessie and she's a black Labrador.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04Jessie is mischievous.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07She can often be found chasing the rabbits round the back garden as well.

0:03:07 > 0:03:09That's something she likes to do from time to time.

0:03:10 > 0:03:13- # Who let the dogs out? - # Woof, woof, woof-woof! #

0:03:15 > 0:03:20Day one of training and time for Ashleigh to introduce the celebrities to dog expert Steve,

0:03:20 > 0:03:22who will reveal their challenge.

0:03:23 > 0:03:26- Hi, everyone.- Hi! - How are you doing today?

0:03:26 > 0:03:29- All right.- Good, good. That's what I like to hear.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32So, Steve, these are, obviously, our celebrity dog trainers.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34We've got a fantastic stunt for you today.

0:03:34 > 0:03:38Today, you're going to start teaching your dogs how to jump through a paper hoop.

0:03:38 > 0:03:41- LAUGHTER - Easy-peasy!

0:03:42 > 0:03:45Come show time, your dogs are going to have to jump through ten hoops,

0:03:45 > 0:03:50bursting through the paper on the first and last hoop as they go.

0:03:50 > 0:03:53The dog that does this in the fastest time

0:03:53 > 0:03:56will be the winner.

0:03:56 > 0:03:58Aaron, have you ever tried anything like this with Poppy?

0:03:58 > 0:04:02No. I might have to do it first because she likes to follow me.

0:04:02 > 0:04:04- OK, then.- I might have to...

0:04:04 > 0:04:07And what about Jessie? How do you think she'll cope?

0:04:07 > 0:04:09Not very well. She doesn't really like obstructions.

0:04:09 > 0:04:13- That's so promising. - Yeah, it's going to go well!

0:04:13 > 0:04:16What about Bella? How much training have you done with her?

0:04:16 > 0:04:19She usually has me jumping through hoops to be honest.

0:04:19 > 0:04:22OK, so this exercise is all about trust.

0:04:22 > 0:04:26Your dog has to have enough faith in you that they're prepared to jump through a solid object for you.

0:04:26 > 0:04:29So big bond, big relationship kind of exercise.

0:04:29 > 0:04:33The first stage is, if I can make my way this way, sir,

0:04:33 > 0:04:37the first stage is to encourage your dog to jump through a nice, simple clear hoop.

0:04:37 > 0:04:38So encourage them through.

0:04:38 > 0:04:41When they do step through, lots of fuss,

0:04:41 > 0:04:42lots of reinforcement, lots of reward.

0:04:42 > 0:04:47Then put a command on the behaviour - jump, hoop, step, whatever.

0:04:47 > 0:04:51But once you choose a command, be consistent and stick with it.

0:04:51 > 0:04:53Then we're going to move through to another hoop.

0:04:53 > 0:04:57- That will have a few bits of paper hanging down...- Ah! - ..just like a little blind.

0:04:57 > 0:05:00Then you're going to encourage them through that

0:05:00 > 0:05:02and then we'll attach the paper at several places,

0:05:02 > 0:05:04so they'll start bursting through the hoops.

0:05:04 > 0:05:06Make sure you've got plenty of momentum

0:05:06 > 0:05:09because you'll need that to burst through the paper.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12OK, so, enjoy your training. Ashleigh's going to look after you.

0:05:12 > 0:05:14- See you later.- Thank you.- Bye. - Bye-bye.

0:05:14 > 0:05:18- Shall we get going?- Yes. - Let's go. I'm going to start with Aaron and Poppy.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20Feed the lead through, first of all.

0:05:21 > 0:05:25- I thought you'd have me get through it.- No, no.

0:05:25 > 0:05:27- Poppa-boo! Poppa-boo! - Almost.

0:05:27 > 0:05:31Poppy started off a little unsure but good try, there.

0:05:31 > 0:05:34Brilliant! Just keep working on that until she's more confident.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36That's brilliant. Well done, Poppy.

0:05:36 > 0:05:39- Right, Jessie. Pass the lead through first of all.- Yeah.

0:05:39 > 0:05:42There we go. Now show her your treats.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45Ooh, treats! Come on.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48- Good girl! Loads of confidence. Yes!- Yes!- Well done.

0:05:48 > 0:05:50Jessie's a bit hesitant, too, but she got there.

0:05:50 > 0:05:55So she was a little bit wary, so you need to build her confidence.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57Well done. Carry on doing that, then.

0:05:57 > 0:06:01- Right, then. Let's have a go. - This is a weird experience.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03- Are you ready, Bella? - How will Bella do?

0:06:04 > 0:06:06Yeah! Good! Well done.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09All the dogs are brilliant. They're so not scared of this hoop.

0:06:09 > 0:06:11They're like, "This is a piece of cake."

0:06:11 > 0:06:14OK, so once you've done that a couple of times,

0:06:14 > 0:06:16start bringing in the command.

0:06:16 > 0:06:20- Do we say it as they go through the hoop?- While they're going through the hoop first of all.

0:06:20 > 0:06:24- And then you can start bringing it back...- A bit further.- Yeah.

0:06:24 > 0:06:27And now you can also start giving them a bit of a run-up.

0:06:27 > 0:06:29Hoop, hoop, hoop.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31To start off with, you just need one hoop, not 20.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34- Oh, right.- Not, "Hoop, hoop, hoop, hoop."- I was coughing.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37- She has no idea what hoop means, OK? - No, OK.

0:06:37 > 0:06:40- So make sure you say it as she going through it.- OK.

0:06:40 > 0:06:42Good advice from Ashleigh.

0:06:42 > 0:06:44- Hoop.- Yeah, good girl! Loads of praise.

0:06:44 > 0:06:47- Well done, Poppa-poo.- Be a bit quicker with your treats, OK?

0:06:47 > 0:06:50- She actually got a treat for sitting, there.- Right.

0:06:50 > 0:06:53We don't want her sitting. We want her jumping through that hoop, OK?

0:06:53 > 0:06:56- Brilliant. Well done. - Good girl. Poppy-poo.

0:06:56 > 0:06:58- How's Jessie getting on? - All right, actually.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01I think she knows now if she jumps through the hoop she gets a treat.

0:07:01 > 0:07:03- Just be a bit quicker with your treat, OK?- OK, cool.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06Jessie's really getting the hang of this challenge.

0:07:06 > 0:07:08Get a treat ready.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10Come on, Jessie.

0:07:10 > 0:07:13- Jump!- Yeah! Good girl!- Good girl! - Loads of praise.

0:07:13 > 0:07:16Just be much, much quicker with that treat and praise

0:07:16 > 0:07:17but good - well done.

0:07:17 > 0:07:20Great work, team! Let's see how Cel and Bella are doing.

0:07:20 > 0:07:24- How are we getting on?- She keeps wanting to just go after the treat rather than the hoop.

0:07:24 > 0:07:29- OK, well, she needs to learn that to get to the treat she has to go through the hoop.- OK.

0:07:30 > 0:07:34- Hoop.- Good! Well done. Try it once more.

0:07:34 > 0:07:36No hesitation there from Bella.

0:07:37 > 0:07:40- Hoop.- There we go.- Good girl. - Good girl. Loads of praise.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42Right, guys, you're doing absolutely brilliant up to now.

0:07:42 > 0:07:46I'm going to leave you for a while and then come back and see how you're getting on.

0:07:46 > 0:07:48- See you later.- See you, mate.- Bye.

0:07:49 > 0:07:52# Who let the dogs out? # DOGS BARKING

0:07:54 > 0:07:56You might think training is hard work

0:07:56 > 0:07:59but I'd much rather train Pudsey than do housework.

0:07:59 > 0:08:04However, if you were really clever, you could teach your dog to do the housework for you.

0:08:04 > 0:08:05HE WHIMPERS

0:08:05 > 0:08:08# Does he wash up? He never wash up

0:08:08 > 0:08:10# Does he clean up? No, he never cleans up... #

0:08:10 > 0:08:15And if you are that clever, your dog could end up like Jesse...

0:08:15 > 0:08:17who likes to set the table...

0:08:19 > 0:08:20..and make breakfast.

0:08:20 > 0:08:23# Does he clean up? No, he never cleans up... #

0:08:23 > 0:08:25And it won't stop there. You may even find your dog dusting.

0:08:25 > 0:08:28# He does nothing, the boy does nothing... #

0:08:28 > 0:08:29Cleaning.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32Vacuuming.

0:08:34 > 0:08:36Mopping.

0:08:36 > 0:08:37And even shoe-shining.

0:08:37 > 0:08:41# He does he wash up? He never wash up... #

0:08:41 > 0:08:44Jesse looks like he's rather enjoying himself.

0:08:44 > 0:08:46# Does he brush up? He never brushes up...

0:08:46 > 0:08:47Bin day!

0:08:47 > 0:08:50# He does nothing, the boy does nothing... #

0:08:50 > 0:08:53- # Who let the dogs out? # - DOGS BARKING

0:08:53 > 0:08:55Still to come on Who Let The Dogs Out?,

0:08:55 > 0:08:58we've got dogs that can drive.

0:08:58 > 0:08:59Yes - really.

0:09:01 > 0:09:05And which of our celebrities are jumping ahead in today's challenge?

0:09:06 > 0:09:08# Who let the dogs out? # DOGS BARKING

0:09:11 > 0:09:14Come on. Hoop, hoop.

0:09:14 > 0:09:16The celebrities are busily hoop-jumping

0:09:16 > 0:09:20when Ashleigh arrives for the next stage of training.

0:09:20 > 0:09:25Hi, guys. You all look very focused. Working hard - that's what I like to see.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28Now I think you're ready to move on to the second hoop, OK?

0:09:28 > 0:09:33- So, Aaron and Poppy, it might take a bit more encouragement this time.- OK.

0:09:33 > 0:09:36- But do exactly the same. Tell her hoop and everything like that.- OK.

0:09:36 > 0:09:38It's the same one. It's just got some white paper on it, OK?

0:09:38 > 0:09:40Come on.

0:09:40 > 0:09:41Hoop.

0:09:41 > 0:09:44- Almost.- Oh, dear. Poppy's not keen on the paper.

0:09:44 > 0:09:48- So you're going to go right back to basics with her.- Right.

0:09:48 > 0:09:51So this one is completely new to Poppy, OK?

0:09:51 > 0:09:53So you have to make sure you have your hand there

0:09:53 > 0:09:56- exactly the same as the basics we started on, OK?- OK.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59And we've also adjusted your hoop slightly, lifted it up,

0:09:59 > 0:10:02- just to make it a little bit easier for her to jump through.- OK.

0:10:02 > 0:10:05- Ready? It's only paper. - Will she do it this time?

0:10:06 > 0:10:09- Hoop! Good girl, Poppa-poo. - Brilliant! Well done.

0:10:09 > 0:10:11- Good teamwork, there.- Hoop.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13Right. Shall we give it a go?

0:10:13 > 0:10:17So making sure that you put your hand right through here and guide her through.

0:10:17 > 0:10:19Cool. Come on, Jessie.

0:10:19 > 0:10:23- Jump.- Good! Well done.- Good girl! - She wasn't afraid of that at all.

0:10:23 > 0:10:25- Let's try that again.- Jessie.

0:10:25 > 0:10:27- Jump!- Good girl!

0:10:27 > 0:10:33- So carry on doing exactly the same. She's not fazed by that at all, is she?- She doesn't care.

0:10:33 > 0:10:35- I'm impressed.- So are we, Katie.

0:10:35 > 0:10:38- So shall we give it a go? - Are you ready, Bella? Let's go.

0:10:38 > 0:10:40Through the hoop.

0:10:40 > 0:10:43- Good!- Good girl, Bella. - Nice little jump there, as well.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45Bella's really taken to this.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47Are you ready?

0:10:47 > 0:10:49- No, this... Come on. - Good girl.- Good girl.

0:10:49 > 0:10:51Loads of praise. Well done.

0:10:51 > 0:10:55So all Bella needs to realise is that she doesn't get that treat until she goes through the hoop.

0:10:55 > 0:10:57- Right, OK.- Well done.

0:10:57 > 0:10:58You're all doing really, really well.

0:10:58 > 0:11:02- Keep practising and I will see you later. Bye!- Bye!

0:11:02 > 0:11:03Oh, Jessie!

0:11:03 > 0:11:05She's a little bit unpredictable, is Poppy,

0:11:05 > 0:11:10so if she's feeling a bit distracted and bored of the treats, it's going to be a challenge,

0:11:10 > 0:11:12so fingers crossed.

0:11:13 > 0:11:16I thought, "There's no way Jessie's going to jump through that," but she was great.

0:11:16 > 0:11:21It's amazing what dogs will do when there's sausage and cheese available afterwards.

0:11:21 > 0:11:23I was quite happy overall with the training.

0:11:23 > 0:11:25It could have gone a lot worse.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27We need to remember what Ashleigh and Steve said -

0:11:27 > 0:11:29a lot of praise when they've gone through

0:11:29 > 0:11:32and saying it as she goes through, not before.

0:11:32 > 0:11:34To teach your dog a trick, don't say it before.

0:11:34 > 0:11:38Jumping through a hoop requires strength and stamina

0:11:38 > 0:11:40but all of our dogs are built differently,

0:11:40 > 0:11:43so let's take a look at their mutt measurements

0:11:43 > 0:11:45to see who has the edge in this challenge.

0:11:46 > 0:11:50First is Aaron's dog, Poppy, who's a Belgian shepherd cross.

0:11:52 > 0:11:54Belgian crosses are often known to be highly intelligent,

0:11:54 > 0:11:56so perhaps those big brain cells

0:11:56 > 0:11:59will give Poppy the edge in this trick.

0:12:00 > 0:12:03Poppy is a big football fan, just like Aaron.

0:12:03 > 0:12:05I wonder if that's how she keeps so fit?

0:12:08 > 0:12:11Katie has brought Jessie, who's a black Labrador.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13Labradors are retrievers,

0:12:13 > 0:12:17which means they're naturally inclined to fetch most things on command.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Mm, shame this isn't a fetching trick, Katie.

0:12:20 > 0:12:24Katie says Jessie is calm, friendly and has a wiggly bum.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26A wiggly bum?

0:12:26 > 0:12:28That could come in handy for hoop-jumping.

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Cel's dog Bella is a Weimaraner

0:12:31 > 0:12:33and this breed are originally from Germany.

0:12:34 > 0:12:36Bella is a real softie at heart.

0:12:36 > 0:12:40She has a comfy cushion and prefers sunbathing to boisterous behaviour.

0:12:40 > 0:12:44This breed are sometimes known as the Grey Ghost

0:12:44 > 0:12:48because of their slightly spooky grey-yellow eyes.

0:12:48 > 0:12:51So can Bella scare off the competition?

0:12:53 > 0:12:55DOG BARKING

0:12:56 > 0:12:59Our famous friends are heading back for training with Ashleigh

0:12:59 > 0:13:02before Steve arrives with the next steps.

0:13:04 > 0:13:06Come on. Hoop, hoop.

0:13:06 > 0:13:08Good girl! Well done.

0:13:08 > 0:13:10- How are we doing, gang? - We're doing really good.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13- Poppy wasn't very confident to start with, was she?- No.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15She was like, "Oh, I'm not sure about it,"

0:13:15 > 0:13:17- but shall we take a look? - Let's go.

0:13:17 > 0:13:20- Hoop!- Good.- Well done, Poppas.

0:13:20 > 0:13:22Fantastic. OK, that's nice.

0:13:22 > 0:13:25What I'd really like to see now is, as she goes through,

0:13:25 > 0:13:29you add your command "hoop", once you're through, "Good girl,"

0:13:29 > 0:13:31- then...- Right, got you. - ..you give her the reward.

0:13:31 > 0:13:34- We're rewarding the behaviour, we're not luring it.- OK.

0:13:34 > 0:13:36Let's have one more look. Nice and slow.

0:13:37 > 0:13:40- Hoop. Good girl, Poppy. - That's nicer.

0:13:40 > 0:13:43- Add that command, reward at the end and super slow.- OK.

0:13:43 > 0:13:46- Plenty of time for speed later on. - Okey-doke.- Looking good.

0:13:46 > 0:13:50- How has Jessie been getting on? - Not bad. Shall I give it a go?

0:13:50 > 0:13:52- Yeah, let's take a look. - Come on, Jessie.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57Come on. Hoop. Jump.

0:13:57 > 0:14:00- Jump. Good girl.- Good girl. Good.

0:14:00 > 0:14:02I think with Jess we will have a little bit more momentum.

0:14:02 > 0:14:04- Yeah.- OK? This is what I want you to do.

0:14:04 > 0:14:08Through the hoop, good girl, then you're going to jog to about here

0:14:08 > 0:14:09- and then reward her.- OK.

0:14:09 > 0:14:13So she does that whole behaviour, she clears it and then she gets the good stuff.

0:14:13 > 0:14:16- Yes.- Get the behaviour first, nice and clean.- Cool.

0:14:16 > 0:14:17Come on, Jess.

0:14:17 > 0:14:20- No, no. That's it. OK. - Good, good, good.

0:14:20 > 0:14:22- Good girl.- A bit further, a bit further, a bit further...

0:14:22 > 0:14:26- Good girl.- That's nice. That will keep her focused on going straighter.

0:14:26 > 0:14:28- Well done, Jessie. - Keep cracking on, there.

0:14:28 > 0:14:31So, how have you and Bella been getting on, then?

0:14:31 > 0:14:34- We're getting there, slowly but surely. - Let's take a look.

0:14:34 > 0:14:35Ready, Bella? Come on.

0:14:36 > 0:14:38Hoop! Come on.

0:14:38 > 0:14:39Yeah! Good girl!

0:14:39 > 0:14:42OK. All I'd like to see this time round

0:14:42 > 0:14:44is that you go just a little bit further through.

0:14:44 > 0:14:46So you need to pass your lead through a little bit sharper

0:14:46 > 0:14:48- and then the reward.- OK.- OK?

0:14:48 > 0:14:51- Right. Are you ready, Bel? - You don't have to go fast.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53- Ready?- Smooth will be the secret on this one.

0:14:53 > 0:14:56- Hoop!- That's it. Nice.

0:14:56 > 0:14:59- Well, I think they're all ready for the next step.- I agree.

0:14:59 > 0:15:01OK, gang, gather in.

0:15:01 > 0:15:06I want you to start asking your dogs to actually rip through a bit of paper as they go through.

0:15:06 > 0:15:09They need to get used to that tension, the sound, the movement.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11- Let's go and do a bit of taping, then.- OK.

0:15:11 > 0:15:14So, just tape a couple of strips.

0:15:14 > 0:15:15In fact, just start with one

0:15:15 > 0:15:18and encourage your dog to go through the hoop as you were before,

0:15:18 > 0:15:20keeping your same body language and command.

0:15:20 > 0:15:25Once they're doing that confidently, then you're going to have two strips,

0:15:25 > 0:15:27three strips, four strips and we'll expand as we go along.

0:15:27 > 0:15:30You're going to go through a lot of tissue paper.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32If you think they're not as confident as they could be,

0:15:32 > 0:15:34take a few steps back, OK?

0:15:34 > 0:15:37Maybe go to a single strip or come back to where they're all moving freely.

0:15:37 > 0:15:39So I'm going to head off.

0:15:39 > 0:15:40Next time I see you will be show time,

0:15:40 > 0:15:42so work really, really hard and I'll catch you later.

0:15:42 > 0:15:44- Cheers, Steve.- Thank you. Bye. - Ta-ta.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47Right, so I'm going to go round one by one.

0:15:47 > 0:15:48I'll be back in a minute.

0:15:48 > 0:15:51Time for Aaron and Poppy to put Steve's next steps into practice.

0:15:52 > 0:15:54Come on. Hoop!

0:15:54 > 0:15:55- Yeah!- Good girl.

0:15:55 > 0:15:59- Right, I'm going to add another one in, this time.- Another one!

0:15:59 > 0:16:02Looks like Poppy's now less wary. How will she get on with another strip?

0:16:02 > 0:16:04Come on. Come on, Poppa.

0:16:06 > 0:16:07- Hoop!- Good girl!- Well done!

0:16:07 > 0:16:11- That was brilliant because she was looking for that hoop at the end of it.- Yeah.

0:16:11 > 0:16:14So instead of looking at you for the treat,

0:16:14 > 0:16:16she was looking for that hoop, so brilliant.

0:16:16 > 0:16:18- Carry on doing that.- OK, cool. Let's go, baby.

0:16:18 > 0:16:21Good. So, Katie and Jessie, let's try exactly the same.

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Oh, you've moved onto two now.

0:16:23 > 0:16:26Confident step by Katie and Jessie, taking on more than one strip.

0:16:27 > 0:16:29She's all right with one.

0:16:29 > 0:16:32- That's it. Jump! Good girl. - Well done. Clever!

0:16:32 > 0:16:34You've put them straight in the middle.

0:16:34 > 0:16:38She's seen that they're not moving, so she's going to the side and jumping.

0:16:38 > 0:16:42So we're going to change this up a little bit, so she learns...

0:16:42 > 0:16:44- So she has to rip through. - There we go.

0:16:44 > 0:16:46- Let's give that a go.- Ready for this?

0:16:46 > 0:16:48OK.

0:16:49 > 0:16:50This way.

0:16:51 > 0:16:53- Jump!- Good girl.

0:16:53 > 0:16:55- Oh, she actually broke one, there. - Good girl.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57Great work, Jessie. First dog to break the paper.

0:16:57 > 0:16:59This team are jumping ahead.

0:17:00 > 0:17:02Well done, Jessie.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04Cel and Bella, then. Let's take a look.

0:17:04 > 0:17:06Come on. Hoop!

0:17:06 > 0:17:09Good! Good girl! And she actually broke through that as well.

0:17:09 > 0:17:11And Bella breaks the paper, too.

0:17:11 > 0:17:13Gold star for this celebrity pair.

0:17:14 > 0:17:16OK. Come on.

0:17:17 > 0:17:19- Hoop!- Good! Good girl. Well done.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22So she's not fazed by that at all, is she?

0:17:22 > 0:17:25- So I could start adding in three now or...- Keeping adding more strips.

0:17:25 > 0:17:27- Keep adding. That was brilliant. - Thank you.

0:17:27 > 0:17:32Now, in less than two weeks' time, you're going to be back here for show time.

0:17:32 > 0:17:34So don't look so worried. Keep practising.

0:17:34 > 0:17:38- Because when you do come back, they're going to be doing ten hoops, OK?- Wow.

0:17:38 > 0:17:42- So you're going to go from one to ten.- Ten!- That's a lot, I know,

0:17:42 > 0:17:44but I'm sure you can all do it.

0:17:44 > 0:17:46- Wow.- See you later.- Thank you. - Cheers.- See you.

0:17:46 > 0:17:49Ten hoops! There's going to have to be a lot of sausage.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52Now, hoop-jumping looks like a hoot.

0:17:52 > 0:17:55Why not try teaching your dog this stunt using these five steps?

0:17:57 > 0:18:00Step one. Teach your dog to jump through a clear hoop

0:18:00 > 0:18:03and start to introduce a command word when your dog jumps,

0:18:03 > 0:18:04like hoop or jump.

0:18:06 > 0:18:08Step two.

0:18:08 > 0:18:09Increase the distance

0:18:09 > 0:18:13and start to get your dog to run and jump through the hoop on command.

0:18:13 > 0:18:14Step three.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17Once your dog is happy jumping through the hoop,

0:18:17 > 0:18:19begin to add a few strips of paper

0:18:19 > 0:18:21and don't forget - lots of encouragement.

0:18:23 > 0:18:26Step four. Increase the amount of paper attached to the hoops

0:18:26 > 0:18:29until your dog is ripping the strips.

0:18:31 > 0:18:33Step five. Keep adding and encouraging

0:18:33 > 0:18:37until your dog can jump through a full paper hoop.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41What's the point of doing it if you're not going to win?

0:18:41 > 0:18:43I will probably cry if I lose, to be honest with you.

0:18:43 > 0:18:45I don't want to cry on camera, if I'm honest with you.

0:18:45 > 0:18:47I want to win, yeah.

0:18:47 > 0:18:50I'd like to win for the girls and beat both these boys,

0:18:50 > 0:18:51so fingers crossed.

0:18:51 > 0:18:53We're in with a good chance.

0:18:53 > 0:18:55All the dogs are as good as each other,

0:18:55 > 0:18:58so if we get lots of practising in, we've got a chance.

0:18:58 > 0:18:59Go!

0:18:59 > 0:19:01I'm going to get my daughters to help me out

0:19:01 > 0:19:03because we're going to need a lot of practice.

0:19:03 > 0:19:06I'm going to be busy, so they're going to have to help out.

0:19:06 > 0:19:10So, Molly and Leah, show time. It's down to you.

0:19:11 > 0:19:14# Who let the dogs out? #

0:19:14 > 0:19:16Pudsey here is a right show-off

0:19:16 > 0:19:19and one of his favourite tricks is his hide

0:19:19 > 0:19:22and today, we're going to be teaching you how to do this.

0:19:22 > 0:19:25So first of all, put your dog in a down position.

0:19:25 > 0:19:26Lie down.

0:19:26 > 0:19:30The hardest bit about this is actually teaching your dog to give paw in a down position.

0:19:30 > 0:19:33So you might have to re-teach this.

0:19:33 > 0:19:36So I'm going to ask Pudsey for one of his paws.

0:19:36 > 0:19:38I'm going to choose this paw because he's more confident with it.

0:19:38 > 0:19:40Once I've got his paw in my hand,

0:19:40 > 0:19:44I'm going to use my treat to guide his head underneath his paw.

0:19:44 > 0:19:45Ready? Puds, left.

0:19:45 > 0:19:48SHE CLICKS Good.

0:19:48 > 0:19:50And then give him the treat in that position.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Good boy! Well done!

0:19:52 > 0:19:55Making sure that I give him the treat while his paw is over his face

0:19:55 > 0:19:58and not after or before.

0:19:58 > 0:20:01Now, each time I try and lower his head ever so slightly,

0:20:01 > 0:20:03so it's touching the ground more and more.

0:20:03 > 0:20:05Ready? Left. SHE CLICKS

0:20:05 > 0:20:09Good. Clever! Until his head is finally touching the ground.

0:20:09 > 0:20:12Then you can start bringing in your command. I use hide.

0:20:12 > 0:20:16Then, do exactly the same but while his head is underneath his paw,

0:20:16 > 0:20:19I will slowly take my hand away from his paw

0:20:19 > 0:20:21so his paw is left on top of his head.

0:20:21 > 0:20:24And this is what the finished product should look like.

0:20:24 > 0:20:28Ready? Head down. Hide.

0:20:28 > 0:20:30Go! Good boy! Well done. That was good.

0:20:30 > 0:20:33Try this at home with your dog and good luck.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37DOG BARKING # Who let the dogs out? #

0:20:39 > 0:20:42When training your dogs at home, you are in control.

0:20:42 > 0:20:47But take a look at this next clip, where the dogs are definitely the ones in the driving seat -

0:20:47 > 0:20:48literally.

0:20:53 > 0:20:56Now, driving a car takes skill.

0:20:56 > 0:20:58Hold on a minute - is that a dog driving?

0:20:58 > 0:21:03It is! And he's called Monty, a giant schnauzer cross,

0:21:03 > 0:21:05and, yes, he really is driving that car.

0:21:08 > 0:21:09This is no trick.

0:21:09 > 0:21:11This is a New Zealand rescue centre

0:21:11 > 0:21:15where the staff have come up with a unique way of finding homes for their dogs

0:21:15 > 0:21:18by teaching them how to drive.

0:21:19 > 0:21:23Training starts indoors, teaching dogs how to press buttons

0:21:23 > 0:21:24and move the gear stick.

0:21:24 > 0:21:26Then, they move on to steering

0:21:26 > 0:21:29and eventually, get to try it out for real

0:21:29 > 0:21:32in a specially adapted car.

0:21:33 > 0:21:35The trainers at the rescue centre hope

0:21:35 > 0:21:37that when people see how clever these dogs are,

0:21:37 > 0:21:39they'll be more likely to take them home.

0:21:41 > 0:21:45Let's hope it works and that Monty gets the home he deserves.

0:21:47 > 0:21:51- # Who let the dogs out? # - Woof! Woof!

0:21:53 > 0:21:55Two weeks of training is over

0:21:55 > 0:21:59and it's time for our showbiz chums and their dogs to take on show time.

0:22:01 > 0:22:04But only one can claim the trophy.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09So will Cel spell out success with Bella?

0:22:09 > 0:22:11My tactics are to try and get Bella in the zone.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14It's all about staying focused, OK?

0:22:14 > 0:22:16If her mind's elsewhere, this is never good.

0:22:16 > 0:22:19Will Katie be perfect in her presentation with Jessie?

0:22:19 > 0:22:23I'm not usually that competitive but I would quite like the trophy,

0:22:23 > 0:22:26so I really want to win now. I hope Jessie can do it.

0:22:26 > 0:22:30Or will Aaron go hoop crazy with Poppy?

0:22:30 > 0:22:33I might give the other dogs massages just to relax them

0:22:33 > 0:22:35and do some Jedi mind training on them,

0:22:35 > 0:22:37like...

0:22:37 > 0:22:39so Poppy's got a bit of a chance.

0:22:41 > 0:22:43Time to find out.

0:22:43 > 0:22:46# Who let the dogs out? #

0:22:48 > 0:22:49It's show time

0:22:49 > 0:22:53and only one of our celebrities will walk away with the trophy.

0:22:53 > 0:22:55As you can see, we have ten hoops

0:22:55 > 0:22:58and only the first and last hoop is covered in paper.

0:22:58 > 0:23:01Their time will start when they burst through the first hoop.

0:23:01 > 0:23:03Then they'll jump the eight middle hoops

0:23:03 > 0:23:06and burst through the last hoop and cross the finish line.

0:23:06 > 0:23:09Whichever team does this in the quickest time

0:23:09 > 0:23:10will be today's winner.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13- I am so excited.- This is going to be good.- Celebrity special!

0:23:13 > 0:23:16- It's the biggie!- It is! It's amazing. I can't wait.

0:23:16 > 0:23:19Now, which team has really stood out for you?

0:23:19 > 0:23:23The team that stands out for me is definitely Katie and Jessie.

0:23:23 > 0:23:26- So you think they're going to do it? - Without a shadow of a doubt.

0:23:26 > 0:23:28Let's not make our celebrities wait any longer.

0:23:28 > 0:23:32- Show will go watch our showbiz show time?- Let's do it.- Let's go.

0:23:33 > 0:23:38A 30-second time penalty will be added for any hoops missed

0:23:38 > 0:23:41and also if any hands are put through the paper hoops

0:23:41 > 0:23:44to help the dogs break through.

0:23:44 > 0:23:46First up, it's Cel and Bella.

0:23:48 > 0:23:50This star duo have been consistent throughout training

0:23:50 > 0:23:53but how will they fare when the pressure's on?

0:23:55 > 0:23:57- Come on.- Not the best start.

0:23:57 > 0:23:59What's this?

0:23:59 > 0:24:01Time penalty there, Cel.

0:24:01 > 0:24:04- Good girl.- Bella's back on track.

0:24:04 > 0:24:05And again. And again.

0:24:05 > 0:24:08- Oh!- Cel's dropped his treats!

0:24:08 > 0:24:10And Bella's missed that hoop.

0:24:10 > 0:24:13- Hoop!- Good recovery there, Cel.

0:24:13 > 0:24:18- Hoop!- Bella's bounding through now. - Hoop!- Oh! Another refusal.

0:24:18 > 0:24:20And another time penalty, there.

0:24:20 > 0:24:22Looks like Bella's not too keen on that paper.

0:24:22 > 0:24:24Come on. Good girl.

0:24:27 > 0:24:28Bella hoop-jumped with speed

0:24:28 > 0:24:31but this team did incur 60 seconds in time penalties

0:24:31 > 0:24:33for the two paper hoops,

0:24:33 > 0:24:36giving them an overall time of 1 minute 29 seconds.

0:24:38 > 0:24:40Next up it's Katie and Jessie.

0:24:42 > 0:24:45This famous pair have been strong in training.

0:24:45 > 0:24:49Now can they pull off a perfect performance and beat Cel and Bella's time?

0:24:50 > 0:24:52Jessie. Go, go, girl.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55- Through here, through here. - Jessie's hesitating.

0:24:55 > 0:24:57The first time penalty, there.

0:24:57 > 0:25:00OK, come on. No, no, no, this way.

0:25:00 > 0:25:03Come on, Jessie! This is against the clock.

0:25:03 > 0:25:04This one! Jessie.

0:25:06 > 0:25:08Katie's doing her best to encourage Jessie.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11Jump, that's it. Jump. Come on, you can do it. Good girl!

0:25:11 > 0:25:15She's through but Jessie needs to focus.

0:25:17 > 0:25:19- What's that?- Jessie's bouncing through those hoops!

0:25:19 > 0:25:21Well done, girl!

0:25:23 > 0:25:26Look at her go!

0:25:26 > 0:25:28- No time for treats! - Did you drop a treat?

0:25:28 > 0:25:31- Right, through this one. - Another time penalty, there.

0:25:31 > 0:25:33Good girl!

0:25:33 > 0:25:35Jessie did get back on track

0:25:35 > 0:25:40but with penalties, this team's overall time of 1 minute 41 seconds

0:25:40 > 0:25:42means Cel and Bella are the ones to beat.

0:25:43 > 0:25:46Last but not least, it's Aaron and Poppy.

0:25:46 > 0:25:48OK, we can do this, OK?
