0:00:03 > 0:00:07The world is full of amazing animal families.

0:00:07 > 0:00:09Tales of life and death happen every day.

0:00:09 > 0:00:13For the youngest members, growing up is tough, really tough.

0:00:13 > 0:00:17Their roller-coaster lives are recreated here on Wild Tales.

0:00:22 > 0:00:26We follow three fantastic animal characters.

0:00:26 > 0:00:30Newborn baby Zeb is going to have to learn how to hoof it.

0:00:30 > 0:00:32With hundreds of miles to migrate,

0:00:32 > 0:00:35he'll have to grow up fast.

0:00:36 > 0:00:38Koda the wolf pup will have a dog's life

0:00:38 > 0:00:40fighting for every scrap of food.

0:00:40 > 0:00:45She's going to have to be tough if she's to become an ace in this pack.

0:00:46 > 0:00:51And cheetah cubs Zina, Koko and Gamba start to learn about hunting,

0:00:51 > 0:00:55whilst trying to avoid some fierce neighbours.

0:01:00 > 0:01:03So where shall we start?

0:01:03 > 0:01:05How about in the middle of Africa?

0:01:05 > 0:01:09Slap on your sun cream, cos first up it's Kenya.

0:01:10 > 0:01:15They say it's a jungle out there, but here in Kenya, that PLAIN-ly

0:01:15 > 0:01:16doesn't apply.

0:01:16 > 0:01:21Welcome to the grassy plains of Africa,

0:01:21 > 0:01:25land of big cats, including the cheetahs.

0:01:28 > 0:01:34Meet the triplets - sisters Zina and Koko,

0:01:34 > 0:01:36and their brother Gamba.

0:01:36 > 0:01:40Our trio of fluffballs are only eight weeks old.

0:01:40 > 0:01:44They're new to the area - this is where Mum has brought them

0:01:44 > 0:01:47to teach them everything they need to know to survive.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50It's time for cheetah school!

0:01:51 > 0:01:55At the moment they're more interested in playing.

0:01:55 > 0:01:58Still, I guess you've got to start somewhere.

0:02:01 > 0:02:06Zina seems to be the most adventurous of the cubs.

0:02:06 > 0:02:10Tree climbing is the perfect opportunity to show off.

0:02:10 > 0:02:12That looks like fun!

0:02:14 > 0:02:18Her little sister Koko is never far behind, whilst brother Gamba

0:02:18 > 0:02:25is quite content to take it easy and have a doze. Boys will be boys!

0:02:26 > 0:02:29The troublesome trio

0:02:29 > 0:02:33will soon have to start taking things more seriously.

0:02:33 > 0:02:37Before they know it they will be CAT-apulted into adulthood.

0:02:41 > 0:02:45These three little big cats have a wild time ahead of them.

0:02:45 > 0:02:49Cheetahs are the coolest cats of all.

0:02:49 > 0:02:52And boy, can these kitties move.

0:02:52 > 0:02:58We'll come to the facts and figures later. For now, just try and keep up.

0:03:10 > 0:03:11Amazing!

0:03:11 > 0:03:17And that is what our cubs will have to learn how to do at cheetah school.

0:03:20 > 0:03:24Being new here, one of the trio's first lessons

0:03:24 > 0:03:27is getting to know the neighbours.

0:03:27 > 0:03:29But it's harder than you might think.

0:03:29 > 0:03:32The lions think they own the place.

0:03:32 > 0:03:36The giraffes feel they are above everyone.

0:03:36 > 0:03:40And the hyenas - well, they just laugh in your face - how rude!

0:03:45 > 0:03:48So getting to know the neighbours is not so simple,

0:03:48 > 0:03:53but over the next few weeks, cheetah school will get even tougher!

0:03:56 > 0:04:02500 miles away in Tanzania, another African country, are our next family.

0:04:05 > 0:04:09Meet our grassland grazers, the zebras.

0:04:09 > 0:04:12Those grassy plains stretch on forever.

0:04:12 > 0:04:14And there are lawnmowers.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16No, not those lawnmowers -

0:04:16 > 0:04:18these!

0:04:19 > 0:04:22And these ones have go-faster stripes...

0:04:24 > 0:04:27..the zebras.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Zebras live in family groups called bands,

0:04:30 > 0:04:32to support each other.

0:04:32 > 0:04:35And this band has one mean lead singer.

0:04:35 > 0:04:36It's Zeb's dad!

0:04:36 > 0:04:40A few hundred metres away from Dad is Zeb himself.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46He was only born last night and is just a few hours old.

0:04:46 > 0:04:48Aww!

0:04:48 > 0:04:52Amazingly, although he's just a baby, he's already on his feet,

0:04:52 > 0:04:57which is just as well, cos those legs have a tough job ahead of them.

0:04:57 > 0:05:01Zeb and Mum have separated from the band for a good reason.

0:05:01 > 0:05:04She can't stand his dad's singing (!)

0:05:04 > 0:05:08Perhaps she's more of a White Stripes kinda girl.

0:05:12 > 0:05:16But seriously, the reason Mum left the band to be on her own

0:05:16 > 0:05:19was for Zeb to get to know her really well

0:05:19 > 0:05:22before he meets the rest of his family.

0:05:22 > 0:05:27We're very lucky to get to see baby Zeb. But for now, even though

0:05:27 > 0:05:29he's just a baby, he has a job to do.

0:05:29 > 0:05:33Zeb needs to learn what Mum smells like, and more importantly,

0:05:33 > 0:05:36to learn the pattern of her stripes.

0:05:38 > 0:05:41Every zebra's stripes are different,

0:05:41 > 0:05:44just like barcodes at the supermarket.

0:05:45 > 0:05:50If Zeb learns his mum's patterns of stripes by heart,

0:05:50 > 0:05:54he'll always be able to recognize her.

0:05:54 > 0:05:55This may take some time,

0:05:55 > 0:05:57so let's leave him to it!

0:06:02 > 0:06:04Next, we're off to northern Canada,

0:06:04 > 0:06:07a third of the way round the planet.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13This part of Canada is really tough to live in.

0:06:15 > 0:06:19Winter temperatures can drop to minus 30 degrees centigrade.

0:06:19 > 0:06:22Brrr!

0:06:22 > 0:06:27Lucky for this family they have a thick fur coat to keep them warm.

0:06:28 > 0:06:32And not surprisingly, they choose to have their babies

0:06:32 > 0:06:34in a cosy underground den.

0:06:36 > 0:06:40These wolf cubs are just weeks old,

0:06:40 > 0:06:42and were blind until a few days ago.

0:06:42 > 0:06:47They are just getting used to their surroundings, and each other.

0:06:49 > 0:06:51This little girl cub is called Koda,

0:06:51 > 0:06:54a Native American word for friend.

0:06:54 > 0:06:57For now, she's a friendly little soul.

0:06:57 > 0:06:58SNARLING

0:06:58 > 0:07:01But just wait till she grows up!

0:07:03 > 0:07:06For now, Koda and her brothers and sisters

0:07:06 > 0:07:09are still feeding on milk from their mum.

0:07:09 > 0:07:14But soon enough they'll be wolfing down meat like...a wolf.

0:07:14 > 0:07:18Just like Zeb and the cheetah triplets,

0:07:18 > 0:07:20Koda is dependent on Mum.

0:07:20 > 0:07:23But Koda is already a real character.

0:07:23 > 0:07:26She's a feisty little pup.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29For now, all is cosy and safe in the den with Mum.

0:07:29 > 0:07:35But Koda had better make the most of it, cos it's a wilderness out there.

0:07:43 > 0:07:47Back to the African plains, and playtime is over.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53Today's lesson is how to look cool at school.

0:07:53 > 0:07:57You may have noticed that Koko, Zina and Gamba

0:07:57 > 0:08:00are sporting some spiffing hairdos.

0:08:00 > 0:08:05All baby cheetah cubs have these wispy Mohicans along their backs -

0:08:05 > 0:08:10that long hair helps provide perfect camouflage in the long grass.

0:08:10 > 0:08:15If they keep still, they are virtually invisible.

0:08:15 > 0:08:17Ideal for games of hide and seek,

0:08:17 > 0:08:20and a great way of hiding from any predators.

0:08:20 > 0:08:25This means that Mum is able to leave the cubs and go off hunting,

0:08:25 > 0:08:28which is exactly what she's decided to do.

0:08:30 > 0:08:34Although the cubs aren't yet eating meat, Mum must catch food for herself

0:08:34 > 0:08:36so that she can keep fit and strong

0:08:36 > 0:08:39and produce enough milk for the threesome.

0:08:39 > 0:08:44Pay attention, cubs - Mum's about to show you what it's all about.

0:08:46 > 0:08:52She is the Ferrari of the cat world and can reach speeds of up to 70mph.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57That's almost three times faster than a person can run.

0:08:57 > 0:08:59Just look at her go!

0:09:01 > 0:09:04Her claws act like running spikes gripping the ground,

0:09:04 > 0:09:08and that terrific tail helps her keep balance on those tight corners.

0:09:10 > 0:09:12And it's all over.

0:09:14 > 0:09:17Give that cat a round of applause!

0:09:17 > 0:09:20CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

0:09:20 > 0:09:24The cubs will have to learn how to sprint like this,

0:09:24 > 0:09:28but for now they have many other lessons to master first.

0:09:28 > 0:09:30They have a tough few months ahead of them,

0:09:30 > 0:09:34where Mum will try and teach them everything she knows.

0:09:40 > 0:09:42Back in Tanzania,

0:09:42 > 0:09:47Zeb's mum has decided it's time for him to meet the rest of his family.

0:09:47 > 0:09:52Within a herd of zebras, there are separate family groups called bands.

0:09:52 > 0:09:55Zeb's band is one big family of nearly 20 zebras.

0:09:55 > 0:09:59There are several other females in the band,

0:09:59 > 0:10:01many will soon have foals -

0:10:01 > 0:10:05but there are also other zebras of all different ages.

0:10:05 > 0:10:07Baby Zeb has to get to know them all.

0:10:07 > 0:10:11If he thought learning Mum's stripes was bad,

0:10:11 > 0:10:16he now has to learn to recognise all of his aunts, uncles and cousins.

0:10:16 > 0:10:20That's Auntie Flo, Uncle Derek...

0:10:20 > 0:10:22No, that's Uncle Derek.

0:10:22 > 0:10:28But most important of all he needs to learn who his dad is,

0:10:28 > 0:10:31because he's got a rather important job -

0:10:31 > 0:10:32the leader of the whole band.

0:10:32 > 0:10:37There'll be no horsing around while he's in charge.

0:10:37 > 0:10:39Zeb will have to learn this quickly.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45Where his dad guides them, the whole band have to go,

0:10:45 > 0:10:48or they'll know about it - he isn't in charge for nothing.

0:10:48 > 0:10:52Without him, Zeb would be even more vulnerable

0:10:52 > 0:10:55to attacks from all sorts of predators.

0:10:59 > 0:11:03He'd make an ideal takeaway for some of the neighbours.

0:11:04 > 0:11:08But Dad can't always be there to protect him.

0:11:09 > 0:11:11Zeb IS still just a baby,

0:11:11 > 0:11:14and he's going to be really vulnerable over the next few weeks.

0:11:26 > 0:11:31Back in Canada, Koda and the other pups are still safe in the den.

0:11:31 > 0:11:33But Mum is getting hungry.

0:11:33 > 0:11:37No offence to our zebra family, but she could eat a horse.

0:11:37 > 0:11:39She is what's known as the alpha female,

0:11:39 > 0:11:42and is the only one in the pack allowed to have pups.

0:11:42 > 0:11:47All the others are out on a hunt with Koda's dad, the alpha male.

0:11:51 > 0:11:55He really is top dog, and all the other members of the pack know it.

0:11:56 > 0:12:00They have been hunting for a few days without any success,

0:12:00 > 0:12:02but he is on the trail of prey.

0:12:02 > 0:12:04HE HOWLS

0:12:05 > 0:12:09Wolves can cover the equivalent of two or three marathons -

0:12:09 > 0:12:12up to 70 miles in a day.

0:12:14 > 0:12:19They are also pretty fast, reaching a super-speedy 40 miles per hour.

0:12:19 > 0:12:23That'd be breaking the speed limit in most towns.

0:12:26 > 0:12:29Unless Dad and the pack find some food soon,

0:12:29 > 0:12:33Koda's mum will run out of milk and the pups will die.

0:12:33 > 0:12:35SQUEAKING

0:12:35 > 0:12:38Koda and the others are helpless at this age,

0:12:38 > 0:12:41so Mum has to stay with them.

0:12:41 > 0:12:46Predators such as bears have already emerged from hibernation.

0:12:46 > 0:12:52Mum knows from experience it's far too risky to leave her pups.

0:12:52 > 0:12:56Last year she lost some to a hungry bear when she left them alone.

0:13:01 > 0:13:07The bear found her den, and when she returned the pups were all gone.

0:13:07 > 0:13:10She will just have to wait for the pack to return.

0:13:10 > 0:13:13Koda's life is depending on it.

0:13:17 > 0:13:21Back to the plains of Africa, and school's out for our cheetah family.

0:13:23 > 0:13:29All schools have break time, and cheetah school is no different.

0:13:29 > 0:13:32Having a mum who's also your teacher may be tough,

0:13:32 > 0:13:36but it has its advantages - especially at break time!

0:13:36 > 0:13:39Our threesome are just getting a taste for meat,

0:13:39 > 0:13:44but will continue suckling until they are three months old.

0:13:44 > 0:13:48The cubs are still completely dependent on Mum.

0:13:50 > 0:13:53Not only do the cubs need feeding, they need cleaning.

0:13:55 > 0:13:59Gamba is always first in line when pampering is on offer.

0:13:59 > 0:14:01Looks like Mum's got bathtime licked.

0:14:06 > 0:14:09But in Africa the weather can change within hours.

0:14:21 > 0:14:24Perhaps Mum didn't need to give the cubs a bath after all!

0:14:24 > 0:14:26Now they're having a shower!

0:14:28 > 0:14:31But like all cats they're not too keen on water,

0:14:31 > 0:14:34especially when it's cold. Brrr!

0:14:34 > 0:14:37The poor cubs! They have only just started at school

0:14:37 > 0:14:40and they're already cold, wet and miserable.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45What a soggy mess!

0:14:47 > 0:14:50Let's hope the rain doesn't last too long

0:14:50 > 0:14:53so they can return to lessons.

0:14:53 > 0:15:00# Why does it always rain on...? #

0:15:15 > 0:15:19A few hundred miles away, it's a different story.

0:15:19 > 0:15:21It's getting drier by the day

0:15:21 > 0:15:24and the grass is starting to die away.

0:15:25 > 0:15:27Zeb is growing up fast.

0:15:27 > 0:15:30At least he doesn't have to hunt for his food.

0:15:30 > 0:15:32He's surrounded by it!

0:15:32 > 0:15:34But for how much longer?

0:15:34 > 0:15:38He's really steady on his feet now, but little does he know

0:15:38 > 0:15:42just how much he's going to have to depend on those legs.

0:15:42 > 0:15:44Zeb has become used to his band,

0:15:44 > 0:15:47and now knows and recognises everyone in his new family.

0:15:47 > 0:15:50He's still completely dependent on Mum,

0:15:50 > 0:15:54and will continue to suckle from her until he is 9 months old.

0:15:54 > 0:15:58But despite this close bond, he's starting to explore a bit

0:15:58 > 0:15:59and stray away more.

0:15:59 > 0:16:03He's getting to know the neighbourhood,

0:16:03 > 0:16:06and some of the odd characters his family live alongside.

0:16:12 > 0:16:14Watch out for that python, Zeb!

0:16:18 > 0:16:22These early games and experiences are all vital for Zeb's development.

0:16:22 > 0:16:26But he needs to remember he's still just a foal.

0:16:39 > 0:16:44Zeb has to get used to moving on with the band wherever they go.

0:16:44 > 0:16:48And just because it's night, it doesn't mean they stop travelling.

0:16:48 > 0:16:51Night-time is a scary time for Zeb.

0:16:51 > 0:16:54His band are being followed by hyenas.

0:17:01 > 0:17:03GALLOPING HOOVES

0:17:08 > 0:17:12Dad is quickly on the case, chasing those horrible hyenas away.

0:17:12 > 0:17:16But while he's busy, his family is vulnerable.

0:17:16 > 0:17:19Being so young, Zeb is especially at risk.

0:17:19 > 0:17:22Dad doesn't give up until the hyenas back off.

0:17:27 > 0:17:31Zeb should be safe for now, but those hyenas could be back.

0:17:45 > 0:17:49Back with our cheetahs, the lessons are getting harder.

0:17:49 > 0:17:52Mum has to teach the trio how to deal with prey.

0:17:52 > 0:17:54It's the hardest lesson yet,

0:17:54 > 0:17:56and they'd better listen up -

0:17:56 > 0:17:58their lives will depend on it.

0:17:58 > 0:18:03Mum has caught a gazelle fawn and is bringing it back, still alive,

0:18:03 > 0:18:07to show the cubs what they will have to hunt for food.

0:18:07 > 0:18:11It may look mean, but Mum has to teach them somehow

0:18:11 > 0:18:13or they'll never learn.

0:18:14 > 0:18:16But just look at this!

0:18:16 > 0:18:18The cubs are terrified!

0:18:18 > 0:18:21Koko decides to back off and even the pluckier Zina

0:18:21 > 0:18:24looks as if she'd rather go vegetarian.

0:18:24 > 0:18:27But a cheetah eating grass, just like Zeb,

0:18:27 > 0:18:29wouldn't be right, would it?

0:18:29 > 0:18:33As it's the first time they've seen live prey this close,

0:18:33 > 0:18:36our cubs can be forgiven for failing the test.

0:18:36 > 0:18:39But - being scared of your own food?!

0:18:39 > 0:18:42Will these scaredy-cats ever make the grade?

0:18:45 > 0:18:48Looks like Mum will have to try again.

0:18:57 > 0:19:01This time she has spotted a fawn, and is leading the cubs to it.

0:19:06 > 0:19:08Maybe that won't scare them so much.

0:19:12 > 0:19:16Zina is first in as always, but...!

0:19:17 > 0:19:21She hasn't even SEEN the fawn, and look at her bounce up!

0:19:21 > 0:19:23Maybe we should re-name her Tigger.

0:19:23 > 0:19:27So not exactly "A" grades all round for the cubs.

0:19:27 > 0:19:33Our troublesome trio are barely scraping a pass at hunting school.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35Perhaps more homework is in order!

0:19:50 > 0:19:54Wrap up warm, cos we're heading back to icy Canada.

0:19:58 > 0:20:01Koda and her mum are still waiting

0:20:01 > 0:20:04for the others to return from their hunt.

0:20:04 > 0:20:07She's nearly run out of milk as she hasn't eaten in days.

0:20:07 > 0:20:10Koda and the others are really hungry now.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14So where are Dad and the rest of the pack?

0:20:14 > 0:20:17Well, they are out trying to get some food.

0:20:17 > 0:20:20Dad knows the pups are depending on them.

0:20:20 > 0:20:24They're hunting for caribou - which are actually reindeer.

0:20:24 > 0:20:27Santa would turn in his sleigh!

0:20:27 > 0:20:30They've been following the herd for days now,

0:20:30 > 0:20:33and Dad has picked out a weak animal as the target.

0:20:35 > 0:20:40Because Dad is the alpha male, all the other wolves follow his orders.

0:20:40 > 0:20:42If he says "run", they run.

0:20:43 > 0:20:46If he says "howl", they howl.

0:20:46 > 0:20:51If he says "Gimme five", well, then he must be barking!

0:20:53 > 0:20:54Back to the hunt,

0:20:54 > 0:20:57and, once a weak animal is singled out,

0:20:57 > 0:20:59the pack separate it from the herd,

0:20:59 > 0:21:03which involves all the wolves cooperating

0:21:03 > 0:21:06and basically rounding the prey up.

0:21:08 > 0:21:11It's a bit like the way sheepdogs work.

0:21:11 > 0:21:13Just don't tell the wolves that!

0:21:16 > 0:21:18But let's get serious now.

0:21:18 > 0:21:21The pack need to make this kill.

0:21:23 > 0:21:27Dad and the pack have closed in on the caribou they singled out.

0:21:34 > 0:21:36Just one kick from those hooves

0:21:36 > 0:21:39could break bones and result in death.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43But perseverance pays off...

0:21:46 > 0:21:49..and the pack have been successful.

0:21:49 > 0:21:52This is plenty of food to last them for days,

0:21:52 > 0:21:56but they need to get some of the food back to Koda's mum fast,

0:21:56 > 0:22:00so that she can keep producing enough milk for the pups.

0:22:00 > 0:22:06Koda's dad had better hurry back to the den before it's too late.

0:22:13 > 0:22:18Back to the plains of Africa, and it's looking more like a desert.

0:22:20 > 0:22:23The hyenas seem to have disappeared, but so has the grass!

0:22:25 > 0:22:27It's time for the zebras to move on.

0:22:30 > 0:22:34This is Zeb's biggest test, the start of the great annual migration.

0:22:34 > 0:22:38Even though he's still a baby, he is going to have to walk

0:22:38 > 0:22:43for the next few weeks every day until he's covered over 500 miles.

0:22:44 > 0:22:48Just imagine a toddler walking 20 marathons on the trot!

0:22:49 > 0:22:53Although the rains in Tanzania do fall mainly on the plain,

0:22:53 > 0:22:56unfortunately they don't stay in one place.

0:23:03 > 0:23:06This is why the zebras have to move on - they follow the rains,

0:23:06 > 0:23:10because as soon as the rain moves on, the grass dies.

0:23:10 > 0:23:13It's time for the band to roll out.

0:23:13 > 0:23:15Dad guides them, taking up the rear,

0:23:15 > 0:23:18whilst Zeb stays close to his mum.

0:23:20 > 0:23:23As they head off, Zeb's mum ensures he is safe within the herd

0:23:23 > 0:23:27so that if they are attacked, he'll be more protected.

0:23:27 > 0:23:29I say, "IF they are attacked".

0:23:30 > 0:23:33Crossing hundreds of miles of the dangerous plains

0:23:33 > 0:23:36they will face all sorts of predators and challenges,

0:23:36 > 0:23:38so attacks are inevitable.

0:23:38 > 0:23:43Only half of all zebra foals survive these attacks.

0:23:43 > 0:23:46A baby zebra's survival is on the flip of a coin.

0:23:46 > 0:23:48As a vulnerable young foal,

0:23:48 > 0:23:52Zeb has a long and very dangerous journey ahead of him.

0:23:52 > 0:23:55Over the next few weeks, every step he takes

0:23:55 > 0:23:57will be watched by hungry eyes.

0:24:06 > 0:24:10The rains have moved on and Koko, Zina and Gamba

0:24:10 > 0:24:12have dried out and are doing well.

0:24:12 > 0:24:16This is despite being the most vulnerable of the big cats.

0:24:16 > 0:24:19You just have to look at their build.

0:24:19 > 0:24:21It may give them speed and agility

0:24:21 > 0:24:24to tackle the fastest prey in the Mara,

0:24:24 > 0:24:28but it also makes them the lightweights of the big cat posse.

0:24:28 > 0:24:31The real heavyweights are the lions,

0:24:31 > 0:24:34who would easily kill a cheetah if they caught it.

0:24:34 > 0:24:39Not good news, then, that Mum has spotted one approaching.

0:24:39 > 0:24:43There is nowhere to hide out here, so there is little Mum can do.

0:24:43 > 0:24:48She knows that if the lion gets to her cubs, it WILL kill them.

0:24:57 > 0:24:59Koko has seen the lion too.

0:24:59 > 0:25:01She's decided to run away.

0:25:01 > 0:25:05But Zina and Gamba look terrified and are frozen to the spot.

0:25:05 > 0:25:08This could be a fatal mistake.

0:25:08 > 0:25:11Why aren't Zina and Gamba running?

0:25:17 > 0:25:19The lion has spotted the cubs.

0:25:19 > 0:25:22If he catches them, he'll kill them.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26Our cubs need to get away from that lion - fast!

0:25:39 > 0:25:41But hang on. Just look at their mum.

0:25:42 > 0:25:47How brave! She's squaring up to that lion, and showing him who's boss.

0:25:47 > 0:25:51If the lion catches her, he will kill her too.

0:25:51 > 0:25:53That is one top mum!

0:26:00 > 0:26:04The lion's charging after her, but Mum manages to avoid him.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12The cubs are running for their lives.

0:26:17 > 0:26:19What IS Mum going to do?

0:26:31 > 0:26:34She managed to distract the lion away from her cubs,

0:26:34 > 0:26:38but why's he still hanging around?

0:26:41 > 0:26:43For now the cubs are reunited with Mum.

0:26:43 > 0:26:47They're so relieved, but very nervous, and rightly so.

0:26:50 > 0:26:54Our cheetah family have strayed right into lion territory.

0:26:54 > 0:26:58As long as they stay here, the whole family are in mortal danger.

0:26:59 > 0:27:02The lion could attack at any moment,

0:27:02 > 0:27:05and we know what he'll do if he catches them.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07The odds are really stacked against them now.

0:27:10 > 0:27:13Next time on Wild Tales:

0:27:15 > 0:27:19Will our trio of cheetah youngsters Zina, Koko and Gamba,

0:27:19 > 0:27:21avoid their hungry lion neighbours?

0:27:23 > 0:27:26Koda the wolf pup may be safe for now,

0:27:26 > 0:27:29but will the pack be able to keep up the food supply?

0:27:31 > 0:27:34And on his first migration followed by predators,

0:27:34 > 0:27:37will baby Zeb manage to survive?

0:27:37 > 0:27:41Find out next time on Wild Tales.
