0:02:28 > 0:02:33We're looking today to seize goods to the value of ?3,705.57p.
0:02:35 > 0:02:39They're on their way to bring a happy day to a very unhappy couple.
0:02:43 > 0:02:46This is Charandeep Sandhu.
0:02:46 > 0:02:49Three years ago, he was getting married, to Amarjeet.
0:02:49 > 0:02:51As with anyone's wedding,
0:02:51 > 0:02:54it was to be one of the most important days of his life.
0:02:54 > 0:02:59And, as a Sikh, it was to be a week-long extravaganza.
0:02:59 > 0:03:01Amarjeet comes from quite a large family
0:03:01 > 0:03:03and they were all going to be there.
0:03:03 > 0:03:07My family is...quite a lot of them are actually abroad.
0:03:07 > 0:03:11They had flown in especially for the wedding.
0:03:11 > 0:03:14Our wedding ceremonies, they go on for almost a week or so.
0:03:17 > 0:03:19It's just full of fun.
0:03:21 > 0:03:25It is one of the most special days of our lives, really.
0:03:25 > 0:03:26Especially for Amarjeet.
0:03:26 > 0:03:30I know she had been looking forward to this day for such a long time.
0:03:30 > 0:03:33And wanting to remember their perfect day forever,
0:03:33 > 0:03:34they arranged to have it filmed,
0:03:34 > 0:03:39by specialist wedding videographers Adreamwedding.co.uk Ltd.
0:03:39 > 0:03:42The company was run by Mr Pankaj Jethwa.
0:03:42 > 0:03:44We chose A Dream Wedding,
0:03:44 > 0:03:47simply because they had recorded a video of one of our family members,
0:03:47 > 0:03:50my sister-in-law, and the video was actually good.
0:03:50 > 0:03:53You don't mind paying a little bit extra
0:03:53 > 0:03:55if you get good quality at the end of it.
0:03:57 > 0:04:02Having paid ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd ?3,000 up front,
0:04:02 > 0:04:06with a further ?1,000 to come on receipt of the edited video,
0:04:06 > 0:04:08Charandeep and Amarjeet got married.
0:04:08 > 0:04:12On the day, it was perfect, because everybody was in a good mood.
0:04:12 > 0:04:14We just really had a good time
0:04:14 > 0:04:17and it is something that we will obviously cherish
0:04:17 > 0:04:19for the rest of our lives, really.
0:04:20 > 0:04:23But there was no sign of their wedding video.
0:04:23 > 0:04:27They chased it up. For months, there was nothing.
0:04:27 > 0:04:30Eventually, after a full year and a half of waiting,
0:04:30 > 0:04:36ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd sent them the DVD of their special day.
0:04:36 > 0:04:41My wife's reaction was, she basically broke down in tears.
0:04:41 > 0:04:43When I was looking at the video,
0:04:43 > 0:04:46I realised that there were some problems there.
0:04:46 > 0:04:47Most importantly,
0:04:47 > 0:04:51some key moments of the wedding never made it onto the video.
0:04:51 > 0:04:52See, at this point now,
0:04:52 > 0:04:55there was all my family dancing in front of the car.
0:04:55 > 0:04:59There were the drummers there, and this is the first part
0:04:59 > 0:05:04where the groom's family meet the bride's family officially.
0:05:04 > 0:05:08But disappointingly, this was one of the scenes that wasn't on the DVD.
0:05:08 > 0:05:12They also spotted some technical problems.
0:05:12 > 0:05:16When you watch it on the TV, you cannot have it on a constant volume
0:05:16 > 0:05:19because suddenly the sound will drop
0:05:19 > 0:05:22and then suddenly the sound will go up.
0:05:22 > 0:05:25Of course the missing scenes could never be recaptured,
0:05:25 > 0:05:28but the family listed changes that needed to be made to the video,
0:05:28 > 0:05:31and informed ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd.
0:05:31 > 0:05:35Mr Jethwa agreed to make the adjustments.
0:05:35 > 0:05:36Seven months later,
0:05:36 > 0:05:40they contacted Charandeep to say the work was finished.
0:05:40 > 0:05:44He could have the DVD on payment of the outstanding ?1,000.
0:05:44 > 0:05:47Charandeep insisted on a second viewing.
0:05:49 > 0:05:52But the bulk of the changes hadn't been made.
0:05:52 > 0:05:56We tried to work out a way that we can actually get the job done
0:05:56 > 0:06:00and obviously, you wouldn't want to pay the full amount for something
0:06:00 > 0:06:01that you're not happy with.
0:06:01 > 0:06:05ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd emailed Charandeep,
0:06:05 > 0:06:08saying he would be charged ?100 per week
0:06:08 > 0:06:12for every week he hadn't paid the outstanding ?1,000.
0:06:12 > 0:06:14Charandeep tried to negotiate a deal,
0:06:14 > 0:06:17but Mr Jethwa wouldn't respond to his letters.
0:06:17 > 0:06:21Charandeep felt he had no option but to take the company to court.
0:06:21 > 0:06:24Mr Jethwa contested the case,
0:06:24 > 0:06:28but a judge agreed with Charandeep and awarded in his favour.
0:06:28 > 0:06:31The company was ordered to refund ?2,500
0:06:31 > 0:06:36and send them the finished project within 21 days.
0:06:36 > 0:06:40But since that date, Charandeep's not had the money, or the video.
0:06:40 > 0:06:42Their company is called A Dream Wedding.
0:06:42 > 0:06:44I'll be honest with you, they need to rename that
0:06:44 > 0:06:48to A Nightmare Wedding because that's what they've left us with.
0:06:48 > 0:06:50It's been a three-year nightmare.
0:06:50 > 0:06:53Charandeep and Amarjeet's only hope of seeing their money,
0:06:53 > 0:06:57or their wedding DVD, now rests with the sheriffs.
0:07:04 > 0:07:07As they approach ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd,
0:07:07 > 0:07:09Lawrence shows his soft side.
0:07:09 > 0:07:12You've got to have a certain amount of sympathy for the claimant.
0:07:12 > 0:07:15It's likely to be the most expensive day of anybody's life, really,
0:07:15 > 0:07:18unless you're getting divorced.
0:07:18 > 0:07:20You can't relive the day.
0:07:20 > 0:07:22It's there and then and it's got to be captured.
0:07:27 > 0:07:30Lawrence and Kev have been told that although this is a house,
0:07:30 > 0:07:32it's where the video company is based,
0:07:32 > 0:07:34and there's a studio in the garage.
0:07:36 > 0:07:39So while Lawrence makes the early morning wake-up call,
0:07:39 > 0:07:40Kev goes round the back.
0:07:43 > 0:07:46But the owner of ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd
0:07:46 > 0:07:47is still in the land of dreams.
0:07:49 > 0:07:52Morning, sir, looking for ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36The only way to prevent further action is to pay in full.
0:08:36 > 0:08:38Are you going to pay in full, sir?
0:08:38 > 0:08:40Are you going to pay in full?
0:08:40 > 0:08:43Right, well, I'm going to be forcing entry into you photographic studio
0:08:43 > 0:08:45out the back of the house then, sir.
0:08:45 > 0:08:47OK, I'll get the crowbar out of my van.
0:08:48 > 0:08:51The Sheriffs can only get into the house by peaceful means,
0:08:51 > 0:08:54but the studio is commercial premises
0:08:54 > 0:08:57and they have the right to force entry.
0:08:57 > 0:08:59They assess the options.
0:09:02 > 0:09:05Mr Jethwa objects.
0:09:05 > 0:09:07We will effect entry into your photographic studio
0:09:07 > 0:09:09and remove everything if you don't pay.
0:09:11 > 0:09:13Who does it belong to, then?
0:09:15 > 0:09:16It belongs to your wife?
0:09:16 > 0:09:18This needs paying though sir,
0:09:18 > 0:09:21otherwise we're going in your studio. Have you got the key to it?
0:09:21 > 0:09:22Are you going to open this building, sir,
0:09:22 > 0:09:24or am I going to force entry into it?
0:09:26 > 0:09:29I'll give you a few minutes, but all I'm going to be entertaining

0:09:31 > 0:09:33or I will be effecting entry into it, OK?
0:09:35 > 0:09:37Lawrence tries to deliver the paperwork.
0:09:37 > 0:09:41I just want to give you that because it's got the amount on it,
0:09:41 > 0:09:43it's got the amount you need to pay and how to pay it.
0:09:45 > 0:09:48It doesn't make any difference to you, so just take it.
0:09:48 > 0:09:50It's not serving you with anything, it's a piece of paper
0:09:50 > 0:09:51for your information.
0:09:53 > 0:09:57We're not waiting outside, you need to be concentrating your mind
0:09:57 > 0:09:59on how you're going to get this money together.
0:10:01 > 0:10:04Mr Jethwa suggests Lawrence posts him the notice.
0:10:05 > 0:10:08There's no letterbox, sir, how do you expect me
0:10:08 > 0:10:11to post it through the door?
0:10:11 > 0:10:15Yeah. Well, I'm standing in the letter box then, aren't I?
0:10:15 > 0:10:17You need to just take the paper from me, sir.
0:10:21 > 0:10:23All right, I've left it on the windowsill.
0:10:23 > 0:10:26Lawrence thinks Mr Jethwa is playing for time.
0:10:26 > 0:10:28Sorry?
0:10:30 > 0:10:33What you need to do, then, is open that shed.
0:10:33 > 0:10:36He asks for time to get dressed.
0:10:36 > 0:10:37OK, you get dressed then, sir.
0:10:39 > 0:10:40OK.

0:10:42 > 0:10:45is there anybody that can help you with it?
0:10:45 > 0:10:46That's what we're trying to do now.
0:10:46 > 0:10:50He's very reluctant to let me in that building for some reason
0:10:50 > 0:10:52but we will be going in there.
0:10:52 > 0:10:55Our camera is asked to leave the property.
0:10:55 > 0:10:58With time passing, if Mr Jethwa won't pay,
0:10:58 > 0:11:02the only way Lawrence and Kev will get Charandeep the money he's owed
0:11:02 > 0:11:07is by forcing entry and seizing goods from the photographic studio.
0:11:07 > 0:11:09Kev looks for the crowbar.
0:11:12 > 0:11:13Aha!
0:11:19 > 0:11:21I'm dressed up, I can talk to you.
0:11:21 > 0:11:24Last chance, sir, are you going to open it
0:11:24 > 0:11:26or am I going to get it open with the crowbar?
0:11:26 > 0:11:28It's commercial premises.
0:11:28 > 0:11:31It's a limited company. It has no protection.
0:11:31 > 0:11:34It's a detached building, it has no attachments to your residence,
0:11:34 > 0:11:36it can be forced entry.
0:11:36 > 0:11:37Are you going to open it?
0:11:37 > 0:11:40I'm not going to open it, until... Right. Wait a minute!
0:11:40 > 0:11:43Are you going to open that building? Yes.
0:11:43 > 0:11:45Right, go and do it then. Not now...
0:11:45 > 0:11:49Right, I'll rephrase my question, are you going to open it now?
0:11:49 > 0:11:52No. Right, then we're going to force entry into it.
0:11:53 > 0:11:57Mr Jethwa continues to argue about opening the studio.
0:11:57 > 0:12:00Lawrence has had enough.
0:12:00 > 0:12:01Go on, Kev, just do it, mate.
0:12:05 > 0:12:09With the studio crowbarred open, Mr Jethwa lets the camera back in.
0:12:09 > 0:12:11I told you what I was going to do.
0:12:11 > 0:12:15We are ordered here to seize goods to clear this debt.
0:12:16 > 0:12:19There's plenty to seize, including several computers
0:12:19 > 0:12:22and some video equipment.
0:12:22 > 0:12:24Make yourselves comfortable, I guess.
0:12:24 > 0:12:26All I can say is show you a bit of hospitality.
0:12:28 > 0:12:33But despite appearances, the forced entry seems to have had an effect.
0:12:33 > 0:12:38Inside the house, the owner's son has paid the debt by bank transfer.
0:12:38 > 0:12:40If you can sign there and print there.
0:12:40 > 0:12:43Mr Jethwa has a parting shot.
0:12:43 > 0:12:47I'm going to let every videographer know
0:12:47 > 0:12:49not to do business with these guys.
0:12:52 > 0:12:55Charandeep and Amarjeet's family is unlikely to do business
0:12:55 > 0:13:01with ADreamWedding.co.uk Ltd again, but now, thanks to the Sheriffs,
0:13:01 > 0:13:04they have the money they were owed by the company, who took over
0:13:04 > 0:13:09three years and still failed to deliver a satisfactory video.
0:13:09 > 0:13:13Obviously, us forcing entry and getting our hands on it
0:13:13 > 0:13:15actually forced them to make the payment.
0:13:17 > 0:13:22After we filmed, Mr Jethwa asked to put his side of the story.
0:13:22 > 0:13:25He explained the scene Charandeep said was missing
0:13:25 > 0:13:27was because the cameraman stayed filming the groom
0:13:27 > 0:13:30rather than filming the procession.
0:13:30 > 0:13:32There was also a complaint about sound quality.
0:13:33 > 0:13:38The piece of distortion in the sound could be removed.
0:13:38 > 0:13:41If you remove it and just leave the rest of the dancing,
0:13:41 > 0:13:42it would be fine.
0:13:42 > 0:13:45I'm really angry, really upset about this,
0:13:45 > 0:13:47because they never communicated with me.
0:13:49 > 0:13:51They never wrote to me, there is
0:13:51 > 0:13:55absolutely no document that I received from them
0:13:55 > 0:14:00saying, "Pankaj, we are unhappy, can you sort this out?"
0:14:00 > 0:14:02If they had complained at that stage,
0:14:02 > 0:14:05we would have seen to it, immediately!
0:14:09 > 0:14:12In Saxon times, they were sheriffs.
0:14:12 > 0:14:16Today, they're Enforcement Officers of the High Court.
0:14:16 > 0:14:19Mr Hughes, we're High Court enforcement officers.
0:14:19 > 0:14:22They can get you the money that's rightfully yours.
0:14:22 > 0:14:26That's ?1,857.90p, which needs to be paid today.
0:14:26 > 0:14:29If you have a county court judgment but haven't been paid,
0:14:29 > 0:14:32you can pay ?60 to take it to the High Court
0:14:32 > 0:14:34for enforcement by the Sheriffs.
0:14:34 > 0:14:38So it's a choice of either payment or we have to seize the goods.
0:14:38 > 0:14:41If they get you the money you're due,
0:14:41 > 0:14:42there is no more to pay.
0:14:42 > 0:14:47If the sheriffs are unsuccessful, there's a ?60 admin fee.
0:14:47 > 0:14:50He's locked us out, he's ran upstairs and hid!
0:15:00 > 0:15:03Even when the Sheriffs successfully enforce a writ
0:15:03 > 0:15:07and the defendant pays up, it's not always the end of the story.
0:15:08 > 0:15:12This morning, enforcement officers Lawrence and Kev are in the van
0:15:12 > 0:15:15heading for a familiar location.
0:15:15 > 0:15:17We're heading towards St Albans now, it's just coming up to
0:15:17 > 0:15:2110.30 in the morning, we're going to Mediterranean Leisure.
0:15:23 > 0:15:26Last year, Lawrence visited the company offices
0:15:26 > 0:15:28on behalf of Matthew McWilliams.
0:15:28 > 0:15:32Matthew had been a ski instructor for an associated company,
0:15:32 > 0:15:35Snowcoach. It was his dream job.
0:15:35 > 0:15:36I started skiing when I was eight.
0:15:36 > 0:15:39It really is something that I care about, so as soon as I had
0:15:39 > 0:15:42the chance to leave university, I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
0:15:44 > 0:15:48But Matthew soon discovered the job wasn't what he expected.
0:15:48 > 0:15:51He was having to deal with complaints from unhappy customers -
0:15:51 > 0:15:53lots of them.
0:15:53 > 0:15:55All the problems were being put on me
0:15:55 > 0:15:58and I felt as if I was having to come up with excuses for a company
0:15:58 > 0:16:00that I'd only been working for for a week.
0:16:00 > 0:16:03As the season unfolded, it got worse.
0:16:03 > 0:16:06Back home, Matthew's dad Lawrence realised
0:16:06 > 0:16:08things were going badly wrong.
0:16:08 > 0:16:13He was very concerned that he wished he was not in this situation
0:16:13 > 0:16:16and he felt an awful lot of stress.
0:16:17 > 0:16:19After three difficult and unhappy months,
0:16:19 > 0:16:23Matthew felt he had no option but to leave the company.
0:16:23 > 0:16:28He handed in his notice, which he worked out, and came back to the UK.
0:16:28 > 0:16:32But Mediterranean Leisure hadn't paid him his final wages.
0:16:32 > 0:16:36And despite many reassurances, they still weren't paid.
0:16:36 > 0:16:38With Dad Lawrence's help,
0:16:38 > 0:16:41Matthew took the company to an employment tribunal.
0:16:41 > 0:16:44It may have been a bad experience, but I worked my notice,
0:16:44 > 0:16:46I did everything I needed to do
0:16:46 > 0:16:49so I knew that they owed me that money
0:16:49 > 0:16:52and there was no way out of it, really.
0:16:52 > 0:16:56At the tribunal, Mediterranean Leisure failed to contest the case,
0:16:56 > 0:17:01and the judgement was issued, ordering them to pay the ?647 wages.
0:17:01 > 0:17:06When they failed to do it, Matthew eventually turned to the Sheriffs.
0:17:09 > 0:17:14Got a High Court writ to execute against Mediterranean Leisure Group.
0:17:14 > 0:17:17Managing Director David Stuart threw a spanner in the works,
0:17:17 > 0:17:21insisting Mediterranean Leisure was not based here, but in France,
0:17:21 > 0:17:24and nothing in the building could be seized.
0:17:24 > 0:17:28Lawrence was having none of it, and eventually won the day.
0:17:28 > 0:17:32It was a battle, but Matthew McWilliams got the wages he was due.
0:17:32 > 0:17:34He just paid in full.
0:17:37 > 0:17:40Matthew's dad, Lawrence McWilliams, got the good news
0:17:40 > 0:17:43that the money was in the Sheriffs' account.
0:17:43 > 0:17:47We received notice that payment had been received in full
0:17:47 > 0:17:49towards the end of last year
0:17:49 > 0:17:53and we were delighted and relieved that the matter was concluded.
0:17:53 > 0:17:56But the McWilliams's delight was short-lived.
0:17:56 > 0:18:00We received a formal notification from the High Court
0:18:00 > 0:18:02that an interpleader claim had been received.
0:18:04 > 0:18:07The payment was being disputed.
0:18:07 > 0:18:10The money was still in the Sheriffs' holding account,
0:18:10 > 0:18:13and would stay there until this new legal action was complete.
0:18:15 > 0:18:18David Stuart of Mediterranean Leisure claimed that the payment
0:18:18 > 0:18:22made to Lawrence was invalid because he had paid on a credit card
0:18:22 > 0:18:24belonging to one of his other companies,
0:18:24 > 0:18:26Mountain Lodge Hotels Ltd,
0:18:26 > 0:18:29that had nothing to do with Matthew's employment.
0:18:29 > 0:18:32The McWilliamses would have to appear at the High Court,
0:18:32 > 0:18:35and if they lost, might have to pay costs.
0:18:35 > 0:18:39There are times, particularly lying in bed at night,
0:18:39 > 0:18:44where we both thought, "Are we doing the right thing?
0:18:44 > 0:18:46"Should we just give up here?"
0:18:46 > 0:18:49We kept coming back to the same conclusion -
0:18:49 > 0:18:53he was entitled to the money, he should have been paid it
0:18:53 > 0:18:56and that we would do what was required to get justice.
0:18:58 > 0:19:00At the hearing before a master of the High Court,
0:19:00 > 0:19:04Mr Stuart was unable to show that the payment was invalid.
0:19:04 > 0:19:07Once again, Mr Stuart would have to pay.
0:19:09 > 0:19:10We were both delighted.
0:19:10 > 0:19:15It drew a line under what was a really problematic period
0:19:15 > 0:19:19for Matthew. And it was just pure relief to see it
0:19:19 > 0:19:21satisfactorily concluded.
0:19:21 > 0:19:25Finally, Matthew McWilliams received his missing wages.
0:19:27 > 0:19:29But Lawrence and Kev are heading back to St Albans,
0:19:29 > 0:19:32because that wasn't the end of the matter.
0:19:32 > 0:19:36David Stuart had been ordered to pay the McWilliams' court costs,
0:19:36 > 0:19:39which were far more than the original wages.
0:19:39 > 0:19:42Once again, they haven't been paid.
0:19:42 > 0:19:44Determined to get their clients every penny that's owed,
0:19:44 > 0:19:47the Sheriffs are stepping up to the mark.
0:19:47 > 0:19:51We've got two writs today. We're looking for ?1,602.30p
0:19:51 > 0:19:56on one of them and ?1,688.67p on the other.
0:19:56 > 0:19:59The second writ is for the Sheriffs' own court costs.
0:20:07 > 0:20:11Parked up in St Albans, the signs don't look promising.
0:20:11 > 0:20:12It doesn't look too good when you pull up
0:20:12 > 0:20:15and there are signs saying "offices for sale".
0:20:15 > 0:20:17But it seems the companies are at home.
0:20:19 > 0:20:22There's still an office up there, look, that window's open.
0:20:22 > 0:20:24Ah, buzzer.
0:20:26 > 0:20:28Hello there, I'm looking for Mountain Lodge Hotels
0:20:28 > 0:20:31or Cantabrica Air Brokers.
0:20:31 > 0:20:34The woman says that there's no-one there from those companies.
0:20:34 > 0:20:37My name's Mr Grix. I'm an Enforcement Officer.
0:20:37 > 0:20:39I'm here with some High Court writs
0:20:39 > 0:20:44so I need to come in and verify for myself that there's nobody in.
0:20:44 > 0:20:46While they wait for the door to be opened,
0:20:46 > 0:20:50Lawrence wants to make sure all entrances are covered.
0:20:50 > 0:20:52Just have a squiz round the back, mate,
0:20:52 > 0:20:54just in case, cos I don't know if there's a back door.
0:20:56 > 0:20:58Meanwhile the intercom woman has news -
0:20:58 > 0:21:01Lawrence isn't getting in.
0:21:01 > 0:21:04Your director says you're not allowed to let me in?
0:21:04 > 0:21:06Because of what?
0:21:06 > 0:21:08Lawrence is convinced he's found the place
0:21:08 > 0:21:11the companies on the writ are trading from,
0:21:11 > 0:21:13and that means he WILL be going in.
0:21:13 > 0:21:15I have met Mr Stuart before.
0:21:15 > 0:21:18He's got five minutes to call me before I call locksmiths, OK?
0:21:18 > 0:21:20Thank you.
0:21:20 > 0:21:23There's a back door, but it's padlocked from the outside so it's not used.
0:21:23 > 0:21:25There's three motors down there, nothing any good.
0:21:25 > 0:21:27The director says she's not allowed to let me in
0:21:27 > 0:21:30cos it's a different company. "Who's your director?"
0:21:30 > 0:21:33"Mr Stewart, the director of our companies."
0:21:33 > 0:21:37With Lawrence's ultimatum about to run out, he gets a call.
0:21:37 > 0:21:39Hello, Mr Grix speaking.
0:21:39 > 0:21:42Ah, Mr Stewart, yeah, it's Mr Grix, the enforcement officer.
0:21:43 > 0:21:47But Mr Stewart doesn't want to let Lawrence in.
0:21:47 > 0:21:49Right, well, I'm going to call a locksmith then, sir,
0:21:49 > 0:21:53effect entry into the premises and remove all the items.
0:21:54 > 0:21:56OK then, sir, you do that.
0:21:59 > 0:22:01He's calling the police.
0:22:01 > 0:22:03Shall we see if Andy's around?
0:22:03 > 0:22:05Yeah, give him a buzz, mate, and see if he's around.
0:22:05 > 0:22:08It looks like the Sheriffs will have to use their power
0:22:08 > 0:22:11to force entry to a commercial premises.
0:22:11 > 0:22:14Kev calls one of the lock companies they regularly use.
0:22:14 > 0:22:18Mr Stewart is going to be footing the bill.
0:22:18 > 0:22:20Yeah, he's on his way, sat nav's giving him 50 minutes.
0:22:20 > 0:22:21Lovely-jubbly.
0:22:21 > 0:22:24Right, might as well sit in the van and have a coffee then.
0:22:28 > 0:22:34A caffeine break later, and there's still no sign of Mr Stewart.
0:22:34 > 0:22:36But his solicitor is on the phone.
0:22:36 > 0:22:39We're effecting entry into a commercial premises
0:22:39 > 0:22:41under a High Court writ of Fieri Facias.
0:22:41 > 0:22:44If you don't understand all the implications of that
0:22:44 > 0:22:46and what it carries with it,
0:22:46 > 0:22:49then I respectfully suggest you speak to someone who does.
0:22:49 > 0:22:53Rest assured, we will be forcing entry
0:22:53 > 0:22:54if we're not allowed peaceful entry,
0:22:54 > 0:22:57and we will be removing goods from those premises today
0:22:57 > 0:22:59if these writs aren't paid in full.
0:22:59 > 0:23:00Right, bye-bye.
0:23:00 > 0:23:03With the locksmith on the way, and the prospect of the bill
0:23:03 > 0:23:07getting even higher, someone comes out of the building to talk.
0:23:07 > 0:23:09If he wanted to pay it, how could he pay it?
0:23:09 > 0:23:11Bank transfer, credit card, debit card...
0:23:11 > 0:23:14Is that what he's going to do?
0:23:14 > 0:23:16That's what I'm trying to persuade him to do. Oh, right.
0:23:16 > 0:23:22At the moment, worst case scenario, it's going to be 3,495.97p.
0:23:23 > 0:23:26The pressure seems to be paying off.
0:23:26 > 0:23:30And to prove the Sheriffs weren't bluffing, here comes the locksmith.
0:23:30 > 0:23:31The Lockfather!
0:23:33 > 0:23:34Matching vans, innit?
0:23:35 > 0:23:40But, just in time, the company confirms they are going to pay.
0:23:40 > 0:23:42How much did you say it was for the card?
0:23:42 > 0:23:45Debit card is it? ?5.
0:23:46 > 0:23:48Our camera is asked to stay outside
0:23:48 > 0:23:51while Lawrence goes to collect the payment.
0:23:53 > 0:23:56So it comes out ?3,535.97p.
0:23:56 > 0:23:57Thanks very much, bye-bye.
0:24:01 > 0:24:04Full payment again, like that.
0:24:04 > 0:24:06On to the next one. Let's rock.
0:24:08 > 0:24:11It's been another battle between Lawrence
0:24:11 > 0:24:13and the company director, David Stewart.
0:24:13 > 0:24:17But, by applying a little pressure and knowing his rights,
0:24:17 > 0:24:18Lawrence prevailed again.
0:24:18 > 0:24:21He's got young ski instructor Matthew McWilliams
0:24:21 > 0:24:24the court costs a judge said he was due
0:24:24 > 0:24:27but which he couldn't get without the help of the Sheriffs.
0:24:38 > 0:24:41Enforcement officers Craig Wild and Tom Coyle are heading
0:24:41 > 0:24:45into Kidderminster on a job that makes Tom feel rather grave.
0:24:45 > 0:24:50The company name is Memorials, so doom and gloom.
0:24:52 > 0:24:57The balance we're after today is ?3,975.42p.
0:25:01 > 0:25:03It's just a case of getting out there, knocking on the door
0:25:03 > 0:25:05and see what we can find, asset-wise.
0:25:07 > 0:25:11Kidderminster Memorials is a family-run stonemasons,
0:25:11 > 0:25:13but they've failed to pay one of their suppliers.
0:25:13 > 0:25:15They were taken to court,
0:25:15 > 0:25:18and now the Sheriffs are heading for the front door
0:25:18 > 0:25:22looking for the business owner and aiming to get the debt paid today.
0:25:22 > 0:25:24Hello.
0:25:24 > 0:25:26Hello, mate. We're High Court Enforcement Officers.
0:25:26 > 0:25:30We're here today to execute a High Court writ.
0:25:30 > 0:25:33The man with the debt is Scott Boraston,
0:25:33 > 0:25:35and he's asked our camera to remain outside.
0:25:35 > 0:25:37He says he knows about the debt,
0:25:37 > 0:25:40but had no idea it was going to court.
0:25:40 > 0:25:42He says he's moved premises,
0:25:42 > 0:25:45so Craig enquires to see if the company made
0:25:45 > 0:25:48the necessary arrangements to ensure it receives its post.
0:25:49 > 0:25:51Did you get a Post Office redirection?
0:25:53 > 0:25:55Knowing that you owe some money to somebody
0:25:55 > 0:25:58and moving from one premises to another,
0:25:58 > 0:26:01it's down to you to utilise the postal service
0:26:01 > 0:26:02to get redirection of mail.
0:26:04 > 0:26:08Scott heads off to call his dad, the local undertaker.
0:26:08 > 0:26:12Craig and Tom start listing the property they're going to seize.
0:26:12 > 0:26:15Brother phone-fax. One Kodak printer.
0:26:18 > 0:26:19Hello, sir.
0:26:19 > 0:26:22Scott's father is soon on the phone for Craig.
0:26:24 > 0:26:28Unfortunately, sir, it has to be the full amount,
0:26:28 > 0:26:31and it's ?3,975.42p.
0:26:31 > 0:26:35OK, sir. I'll put you back on to Scott, one second.
0:26:35 > 0:26:38The defendant claims he never knew anything about the court case
0:26:38 > 0:26:42in this situation, so therefore he didn't know he had to pay.
0:26:42 > 0:26:44He was aware that he owed the money,
0:26:44 > 0:26:47and obviously we've made it quite clear that under the terms
0:26:47 > 0:26:50of the court order today, that needs to be resolved by way of payment.
0:26:50 > 0:26:54I understand his father's coming round in which to discharge
0:26:54 > 0:26:56the account, so hopefully we'll get it resolved
0:26:56 > 0:26:58by way of payment in full.
0:26:59 > 0:27:04A few minutes later, Scott's dad, Mr Keith Boraston, arrives.
0:27:04 > 0:27:07He's not happy to see the Sheriffs, or our camera.
0:27:07 > 0:27:10Don't give me that BLEEP about the public highway.
0:27:10 > 0:27:13He also asks us to stay outside.
0:27:14 > 0:27:18Scott's dad says they've had no paperwork from the court.
0:27:18 > 0:27:22But Craig explains that he has a duty to enforce the writ,
0:27:22 > 0:27:24as the judgement still stands today.
0:27:24 > 0:27:26You put yourselves in their shoes.
0:27:26 > 0:27:28You've done the service, you've sent the invoices out,
0:27:28 > 0:27:31you haven't been paid, the law's on your side,
0:27:31 > 0:27:32you go through the legal process...
0:27:32 > 0:27:35But, faced with two Sheriffs and a live writ,
0:27:35 > 0:27:38Mr Boraston understands that the debt must be paid.
0:27:38 > 0:27:41And, a few minutes later, that's exactly what happens.
0:27:41 > 0:27:45Undertaker Keith Boraston pays on behalf of his son.
0:27:45 > 0:27:47If I can just get you to sign just there.
0:27:48 > 0:27:52It means the debt will be settled, and goods won't be removed.
0:27:52 > 0:27:55Thank you very much, Mr Boraston. Take care, Scott.
0:27:55 > 0:27:57Take care of yourself. Bye-bye now.
0:27:57 > 0:28:01With the debt settled, Mr Boraston puts his side of the story.
0:28:01 > 0:28:03If we'd have known the money was owed
0:28:03 > 0:28:05and they'd sent the invoices here,
0:28:05 > 0:28:08we'd have paid the bill hands down.
0:28:10 > 0:28:13The guys have gone away with their ?4,000,
0:28:13 > 0:28:17and, yeah, I've helped him out with a bit of money to keep him going.
0:28:17 > 0:28:21He looks like the gay singer out of Westlife, that always helps.
0:28:21 > 0:28:25Whereas I look like Captain Birdseye off the fish finger box.
0:28:26 > 0:28:29A successful outcome for the Sheriffs,
0:28:29 > 0:28:31which means the claimant will be paid in full.
0:28:41 > 0:28:43It's another early start
0:28:43 > 0:28:45for Enforcement Officers Lawrence and Kev.
0:28:45 > 0:28:49Today they're in Cambridgeshire to help a car owner get ?6,000
0:28:49 > 0:28:54from garage owner Stuart Pearson, who trades as Arrington Motors.
0:28:54 > 0:28:58The lady bought a vehicle from Mr Pearson
0:28:58 > 0:29:02and it spent most of the first month back with him being repaired.
0:29:04 > 0:29:08She returned it and asked for a full refund, which he agreed to,
0:29:08 > 0:29:09but then he hasn't paid.
0:29:09 > 0:29:12Stuart Pearson didn't contest the case,
0:29:12 > 0:29:16and the judgment ordered that Laura Windley should receive her money.
0:29:16 > 0:29:20But she wasn't paid, so she's got the Sheriffs in.
0:29:24 > 0:29:27Lawrence knows a thing or two about second-hand cars.
0:29:27 > 0:29:30I've bought a couple of lemons in the past.
0:29:30 > 0:29:33Slice them up and put them in my gin and tonic!
0:29:36 > 0:29:39This is what I have to deal with on a day-to-day basis.
0:29:42 > 0:29:44Arrington Motor Company.
0:29:44 > 0:29:46But at Arrington Motors
0:29:46 > 0:29:48there's no sign of the defendant, Stuart Pearson.
0:29:48 > 0:29:51Don't think they're here, are they? Eh?
0:29:51 > 0:29:52It's shut, innit? Yeah.
0:29:52 > 0:29:55But conveniently Mr Pearson has left his phone number.
0:29:55 > 0:29:58Normally, Lawrence would make the call,
0:29:58 > 0:30:01but he has no mobile reception, so Kev gets his chance.
0:30:01 > 0:30:03Hi there, is that Mr Pearson?
0:30:03 > 0:30:06We're High Court Enforcement Officers, we're just at your car lot.
0:30:06 > 0:30:09We've got a High Court writ against yourself.
0:30:09 > 0:30:11We're here to seize and possibly remove goods
0:30:11 > 0:30:13unless the amount is paid.
0:30:13 > 0:30:15There's ?7,551 outstanding.
0:30:17 > 0:30:20Mr Pearson says he had made a proposal to pay the money.
0:30:20 > 0:30:23If you've put in that proposal, she doesn't have to accept that.
0:30:23 > 0:30:26She's then transferred it up to the High Court for enforcement,
0:30:26 > 0:30:28which is why we're here and we're here for assets
0:30:28 > 0:30:30and the only way to stop that -
0:30:30 > 0:30:33to prevent us from seizing and removing assets -
0:30:33 > 0:30:35is by payment in full. There's not any leeway on it,
0:30:35 > 0:30:37you know, we are here for full payment.
0:30:37 > 0:30:42We're not in a position to take part payment or anything, unfortunately.
0:30:43 > 0:30:45All right. Cheers, bye-bye.
0:30:48 > 0:30:50It's about 40 minutes away. All right.
0:30:50 > 0:30:54Mr Pearson says that most of the cars on the forecourt
0:30:54 > 0:31:00are on SOR or "sale or return", but at least four do belong to him.
0:31:00 > 0:31:03If they don't get payment today, the cars could be towed
0:31:03 > 0:31:06and auctioned to get Laura her money back.
0:31:06 > 0:31:09So you've got that, that's his. That one.
0:31:09 > 0:31:11Yeah, Range Rover's a bit rough. Yeah.
0:31:12 > 0:31:16While they wait for Mr Pearson, Kev is keen to get feedback
0:31:16 > 0:31:19on his phone technique from the master of the art, Lawrence.
0:31:19 > 0:31:21Was that all right on the phone?
0:31:21 > 0:31:24Yeah, you didn't say anything wrong, I'd have just hurried him up more.
0:31:24 > 0:31:26"Get down here or your cars are going!"
0:31:26 > 0:31:28You listened to his story a bit more than I would. Really?
0:31:28 > 0:31:33You might have to listen to it face-to-face, but you've got to get him down here.
0:31:33 > 0:31:35But, for now, all they can do is wait
0:31:35 > 0:31:38and try to keep themselves entertained.
0:31:38 > 0:31:42# So just you keep me near I'll be so good for you
0:31:42 > 0:31:45# I could be so good for you. #
0:31:48 > 0:31:51But their singing in the rain is brought to a halt
0:31:51 > 0:31:53by the arrival of the garage owner.
0:31:53 > 0:31:55Mr Pearson, is it? I'll show you some ID.
0:31:57 > 0:31:59We're asked to stay outside.
0:31:59 > 0:32:00Since Kev's phone call,
0:32:00 > 0:32:04it seems Mr Pearson has been arranging to get the money.
0:32:05 > 0:32:07So you say you've got the money?
0:32:07 > 0:32:11Mr Pearson says he's going to pay in cash, but it will take
0:32:11 > 0:32:15an hour for the man he's borrowing it off to come round with the money.
0:32:15 > 0:32:18He can't do it by transfer or anything from where he is?
0:32:18 > 0:32:20It's not a case of you can go to him and get it, or...?
0:32:21 > 0:32:24To keep pressure up, Lawrence and Kev
0:32:24 > 0:32:27try to nail down which cars they could legally take away.
0:32:27 > 0:32:30Right, my colleague's going to start taking an inventory
0:32:30 > 0:32:31of the vehicles outside.
0:32:31 > 0:32:35Have you got any proof here of the ones that are on SOR?
0:32:35 > 0:32:37What one's aren't, more importantly?
0:32:37 > 0:32:39Show us a photo of the other one, anyway.
0:32:39 > 0:32:43As Mr Pearson identifies the vehicles not on sale or return...
0:32:43 > 0:32:46You've got the Peugeot and a BM here.
0:32:46 > 0:32:48..it seems his friend with the cash
0:32:48 > 0:32:50is going to take longer than expected.
0:32:51 > 0:32:55Mr Pearson's been OK with us, but I've obviously explained to him
0:32:55 > 0:32:57that we're not going to go anywhere until it is paid.
0:32:57 > 0:33:01So it's now just a case of waiting for a phone call from his friend.
0:33:02 > 0:33:05But it's not going to happen any time soon.
0:33:05 > 0:33:10The friend is delayed and the money won't be here until more like 6pm.
0:33:10 > 0:33:12Lawrence has had enough for today.
0:33:12 > 0:33:14There are seven cars belonging to Mr Pearson
0:33:14 > 0:33:17with enough value to clear the debt.
0:33:17 > 0:33:20He takes walking possession of the seven cars.
0:33:20 > 0:33:23They'll stay here, but no longer belong to Mr Pearson,
0:33:23 > 0:33:28who has until the next day to pay, or risk losing the cars permanently.
0:33:28 > 0:33:31So I'll give you till midday tomorrow and then you won't see us again.
0:33:31 > 0:33:33Cheers.
0:33:34 > 0:33:37Basically, it's a case of trust, I trust him.
0:33:37 > 0:33:42I've given him till noon tomorrow to pay in ?6,000 and then the balance
0:33:42 > 0:33:46just after the weekend, and I've no doubt he will do that.
0:33:46 > 0:33:48If I had any doubts, I wouldn't have made the arrangement.
0:33:48 > 0:33:52Famous last words possibly, but we usually get it right,
0:33:52 > 0:33:54we're fairly good at judging people by now.
0:33:54 > 0:34:00We'll see later if Lawrence's trust in Stuart Pearson is repaid.
0:34:10 > 0:34:14Enforcement Officers Marc Newton and Kev McNally are out on a job
0:34:14 > 0:34:17that has "easy" written all over it.
0:34:17 > 0:34:22OK, we are in Harrow looking for Easy Electrix Ltd.
0:34:23 > 0:34:27They've got a debt outstanding of ?5,245.
0:34:32 > 0:34:36Easy Electrix is anything BUT easy to find.
0:34:36 > 0:34:39138. There - Light and Water. 138, 140...
0:34:39 > 0:34:43142 to 144, is that Light and Water?
0:34:43 > 0:34:46That ain't what we want, is it? That's not what we've got.
0:34:46 > 0:34:48Electric City?
0:34:48 > 0:34:52No, that ain't what we've got though, is it? That's not what we've got, Easy Electrix.
0:34:53 > 0:34:56D'you want to run up and I'll drive up?
0:34:56 > 0:35:00At first glance it doesn't look like Easy Electrix are at the address that we've got,
0:35:00 > 0:35:03so we'll have a run in and see if the company we're after
0:35:03 > 0:35:05are still there or if they know anything about 'em.
0:35:05 > 0:35:07It doesn't look like it from the shop frontage.
0:35:11 > 0:35:14Looking for Easy Electrix Ltd. Yeah, this is us.
0:35:14 > 0:35:17Oh, you're Easy Electrix Ltd? Yes. OK.
0:35:17 > 0:35:19I'm a High Court Enforcement Officer.
0:35:19 > 0:35:23I've got a High Court writ to execute against Easy Electrix Ltd.
0:35:24 > 0:35:26You've got this amount outstanding.
0:35:26 > 0:35:28We're here to execute this.
0:35:28 > 0:35:31We're here to seize goods unless the debt's paid in full.
0:35:31 > 0:35:33?5,000? That's quite a lot.
0:35:33 > 0:35:37Finding Easy Electrix turned out to be easy after all.
0:35:37 > 0:35:39But what about getting them to pay?
0:35:39 > 0:35:43If the company decides not to pay, Kev has already seen
0:35:43 > 0:35:46a lot of high-value kitchen appliances he could seize.
0:35:46 > 0:35:49Kev's found someone who can help,
0:35:49 > 0:35:52but he seems surprised at the size of the debt.
0:35:53 > 0:35:57Obviously now it's been transferred up to the High Court,
0:35:57 > 0:35:58so you've incurred costs...
0:35:58 > 0:36:00For the transfer up to the High Court
0:36:00 > 0:36:02you wouldn't have received any paperwork.
0:36:02 > 0:36:05Our camera is asked to leave.
0:36:05 > 0:36:10The Easy Electrix manager insists the debt was less than ?5,000
0:36:10 > 0:36:13and that they have already paid off some of it in instalments.
0:36:13 > 0:36:16MARC: How long you been paying them instalments over?
0:36:16 > 0:36:18You were paying them up till June?
0:36:21 > 0:36:24The guy has paid the claimant some of the money.
0:36:24 > 0:36:30It's about ?1,800 that he's paid him direct, prior to it going to court,
0:36:30 > 0:36:32so this should be taken off the judgement,
0:36:32 > 0:36:34which our office has just rung the claimant
0:36:34 > 0:36:37and he's agreed that, yeah, this money has been paid.
0:36:37 > 0:36:41The figure now, it's like ?3,388 that he owes.
0:36:41 > 0:36:45With the debt revised down, the company agrees to pay,
0:36:45 > 0:36:48but they are having difficulty paying right now.
0:36:48 > 0:36:52It's not us being difficult, we haven't got a choice in the matter.
0:36:52 > 0:36:54It's not for us to change, decide or dispute.
0:36:55 > 0:36:58The company is asking the sheriffs to come back tomorrow.
0:36:58 > 0:37:01I understand and I'm listening, but the answer's no.
0:37:01 > 0:37:03Can't do it, there's no-one to speak to.
0:37:03 > 0:37:05We're the officers in charge of this.
0:37:05 > 0:37:09As is so often the case, the sheriffs' power to seize
0:37:09 > 0:37:13and then sell goods is what proves persuasive in the end.
0:37:13 > 0:37:14It was a bit of a battle to get it.
0:37:14 > 0:37:17He kept asking us to come back tomorrow morning,
0:37:17 > 0:37:19but, yeah, we got the payment in the end.
0:37:20 > 0:37:23So, we got ?1,200 in cash...
0:37:23 > 0:37:27I think it was roughly ?1,200 on a card payment
0:37:27 > 0:37:31and then the balance of about ?900 was done via bank transfer.
0:37:31 > 0:37:34Full payment. Job done. Everything all paid.
0:37:38 > 0:37:40Easy Electrix told us they...
0:37:58 > 0:37:59Back in Cambridgeshire,
0:37:59 > 0:38:03the story of Arrington Cars has taken an unexpected twist.
0:38:03 > 0:38:07When the sheriffs were last here, it took owner Stuart Pearson hours
0:38:07 > 0:38:10and he still didn't raise the ?6,000 they were seeking
0:38:10 > 0:38:12on behalf of Laura Windley,
0:38:12 > 0:38:15who had been sold a car with many faults.
0:38:15 > 0:38:18Lawrence decided to give Mr Pearson another chance.
0:38:18 > 0:38:20Basically, it's a case of trust.
0:38:20 > 0:38:25I trust him, I've given him till noon tomorrow to pay in ?6,000
0:38:25 > 0:38:26and then the balance.
0:38:26 > 0:38:30But Lawrence's faith in Mr Pearson was misjudged.
0:38:30 > 0:38:33Neither the ?6,000 nor the balance was paid,
0:38:33 > 0:38:37and now Enforcement Officers Darryl Oreton and Mark Povey
0:38:37 > 0:38:39are hoping to finish the job.
0:38:40 > 0:38:43We've got a list of vehicles that were seized on the first attendance
0:38:43 > 0:38:45and we'll be removing those.
0:38:45 > 0:38:48He's had plenty of opportunity to pay, you know,
0:38:48 > 0:38:51in two weeks really, and he hasn't paid a penny.
0:38:51 > 0:38:55As Darryl and Mark arrive at Arrington Motors,
0:38:55 > 0:38:59there's no sign of Mr Pearson. No-one here.
0:39:01 > 0:39:03Darryl calls Mr Pearson's mobile.
0:39:05 > 0:39:07It is international, innit?
0:39:09 > 0:39:10He's on holiday.
0:39:12 > 0:39:16The only way Darryl will get money today is to tow away
0:39:16 > 0:39:19Mr Pearson's cars and have them auctioned.
0:39:19 > 0:39:23When Lawrence and Kev were here, they seized seven cars...
0:39:23 > 0:39:24A silver BM.
0:39:24 > 0:39:27..and these are the ones Darryl and Mark will take.
0:39:27 > 0:39:28But first, they have to find them.
0:39:28 > 0:39:31The Ford KA is there...
0:39:33 > 0:39:36There's no red Range Rover, is there?
0:39:36 > 0:39:38That's the Kia, that's there.
0:39:38 > 0:39:43That's the Renault Scenic, so we've got one, two... We've got three.
0:39:43 > 0:39:47Several cars now owned by the court aren't there.
0:39:47 > 0:39:50It looks like we've got four missing.
0:39:50 > 0:39:54The original claim was for about ?6,000, but because Mr Pearson
0:39:54 > 0:39:57kept the sheriffs waiting all day last time,
0:39:57 > 0:39:59and they've had to visit a second time,
0:39:59 > 0:40:03costs are mounting up and the claim is now at ?8,800.
0:40:03 > 0:40:07The plan is now... Obviously, we've tried to get hold of him.
0:40:07 > 0:40:10He's not here. We'd seized seven cars previously,
0:40:10 > 0:40:11there's three of them still here,
0:40:11 > 0:40:13so we're going to have those three removed
0:40:13 > 0:40:19and we're organising a removal truck...or two...or three.
0:40:20 > 0:40:22Oh, well, might as well get comfy.
0:40:24 > 0:40:28Getting the tow trucks to Royston is going to take some time,
0:40:28 > 0:40:30but as Enforcement Officers,
0:40:30 > 0:40:33Darryl and Mark are experts at waiting.
0:40:33 > 0:40:36Time to get out the packed lunch.
0:40:36 > 0:40:38Cheese and Branston.
0:40:42 > 0:40:48After a bit more expert waiting around, the tow truck arrives.
0:40:48 > 0:40:50But there's a problem.
0:40:50 > 0:40:52With no-one from Arrington Motors on site,
0:40:52 > 0:40:56there are no keys or documents available for any of the cars.
0:40:56 > 0:40:59This makes them less valuable at auction.
0:40:59 > 0:41:01But there's a more immediate issue -
0:41:01 > 0:41:04how to move the keyless cars without damaging them.
0:41:09 > 0:41:12The recovery man makes short work of the KA.
0:41:14 > 0:41:17Not to be outdone, Darryl tries the boot of the Renault.
0:41:17 > 0:41:19Da-dah!
0:41:19 > 0:41:22But Darryl isn't having any luck with the Kia.
0:41:22 > 0:41:24I ain't got the magic on this one.
0:41:27 > 0:41:29At last the end is in sight.
0:41:31 > 0:41:33The first two cars are being towed
0:41:33 > 0:41:37and the problem of the locked Kia will be sorted by the recovery firm.
0:41:39 > 0:41:41He's going to take these to the storage place now,
0:41:41 > 0:41:43so we can go to our next job.
0:41:43 > 0:41:46The cars will be stored
0:41:46 > 0:41:50and then if Mr Pearson has not settled the debt, auctioned.
0:41:50 > 0:41:53Either way, Darryl reckons the absent garage owner will get
0:41:53 > 0:41:57an unwelcome surprise when he returns to the UK.
0:41:57 > 0:41:59I imagine when he first pulls onto the forecourt,
0:41:59 > 0:42:01he'll probably think they've been stolen.
0:42:01 > 0:42:03He may be back before they're actually sold
0:42:03 > 0:42:05and he may be able to get the money paid.
0:42:05 > 0:42:08Obviously he's going to have third party costs on top of that now.
0:42:08 > 0:42:10His bill's just getting bigger and bigger.
0:42:11 > 0:42:14But as Darryl feared, the cars weren't worth enough
0:42:14 > 0:42:17to pay Laura Windley all the money she's due.
0:42:19 > 0:42:25So on a bright autumn morning, Lawrence and Kev visit once again.
0:42:26 > 0:42:28Darryl and Mark did what they could,
0:42:28 > 0:42:30and taking the cars certainly had an effect...
0:42:30 > 0:42:33though not the one they were expecting.
0:42:33 > 0:42:35Morning, mate.
0:42:35 > 0:42:39Lawrence asks the workers next door if anyone's seen Mr Pearson.
0:42:39 > 0:42:42Apparently he moved out about a month ago.
0:42:42 > 0:42:46So it must have been pretty much after Darryl took the cars.
0:42:47 > 0:42:50Darryl and Mark did what they could,
0:42:50 > 0:42:52and taking the cars certainly had an effect...
0:42:52 > 0:42:54though not the one they were expecting.
0:42:54 > 0:43:01It appears he moved out after Darryl took his cars, and he's...gone.
0:43:01 > 0:43:03But not forgotten.
0:43:03 > 0:43:06The auction of the three cars means the sheriffs have got
0:43:06 > 0:43:08Laura Windley some of her money.
0:43:08 > 0:43:12And if she wants them to, they'll pursue Stuart Pearson for the rest.
