:00:14. > :00:19.4th today, on Crimewatch Roadshow. We need your help to track down a

:00:19. > :00:29.man who is wanted by police forces across the UK, preying on the old

:00:29. > :00:43.

:00:43. > :00:47.And Hello, and welcome to today's Crimewatch Roadshow. We're live,

:00:47. > :00:56.and this is our third week on air, asking for your help to tackle

:00:56. > :00:59.unsolved crimes. On the programme today: when the hero who ended up

:00:59. > :01:05.in hospital, after he confronted a shoplifter.

:01:05. > :01:08.Police need to track down the people who beat him up.

:01:08. > :01:12.Wiltshire Police are clamping down on drugs, and we are in the thick

:01:12. > :01:16.of the action, as they make sure nothing is left to chance.

:01:16. > :01:21.And, police need to track down a man who pretended to be a stranger

:01:21. > :01:25.in need, before stealing from the Good Samaritans who agreed to help

:01:25. > :01:27.him out. For Our roadshow team are

:01:27. > :01:30.travelling the country, investigating crime where you are.

:01:30. > :01:34.Yesterday, we were in Salisbury. Today, we're still in Wiltshire.

:01:34. > :01:41.Where exactly are you, Dave? Hi, Rav. We're in Devizes, at

:01:41. > :01:49.Wiltshire Police's headquarters. Also the home of the Wiltshire

:01:49. > :01:54.Police helicopter. A few moments ago, it was called off to a genuine

:01:54. > :02:04.emergency, off she went. We are hoping she will return by the end

:02:04. > :02:07.

:02:07. > :02:11.of the programme. We have here, at a very brave dog, because she saved

:02:11. > :02:19.the life of her handler when they were faced by a nice man. Find out

:02:19. > :02:21.how she did it later. And BBC Points West's Alex Lovell joins us

:02:21. > :02:23.again today. Thanks, Dave. Today, I'll be with

:02:23. > :02:27.Swindon's Drug Enforcement Team. They're carrying out raids, in

:02:27. > :02:32.their bid to put a stop to the activities of dealers who have

:02:32. > :02:35.moved in to the area. Thanks, Alex. Time for our first

:02:35. > :02:38.appeal today. Police need your help to find a prolific con man who's

:02:38. > :02:41.wanted by police forces in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern

:02:41. > :02:45.Ireland. He preys on people's goodwill, before disappearing with

:02:45. > :02:48.their money. We have featured him on Crimewatch Roadshow last year.

:02:48. > :02:58.But, despite our appeals, he still hasn't been caught. And victims are

:02:58. > :02:59.

:02:59. > :03:05.still coming forward. Robert Kerr is wanted by 12 different police

:03:05. > :03:10.forces across the country in direction with Curtly -- 30 cases

:03:10. > :03:15.of burglary and fraud. Police believe he is a conman who has been

:03:15. > :03:21.preying on Good Samaritans. Last year, we appealed for information

:03:21. > :03:24.on Robert Kerr. A priest from North Yorkshire had been conned out of

:03:24. > :03:31.1,000. He said Robert Kerr promised the money would be

:03:31. > :03:36.returned by career. For three years, the Korea never came. We also

:03:36. > :03:41.featured a couple from Gloucester who want to remain anonymous. They

:03:41. > :03:45.say they were duped by Robert Kerr. We thought we were doing a favour

:03:45. > :03:50.for another Christian. They say it began when they offered to pay for

:03:50. > :03:54.his train fare, but the deception spiralled until the couple had

:03:54. > :04:00.handed over 460 for hotels and taxis. He disappeared with the

:04:01. > :04:05.money, and never returned. I was very cross when we realised what

:04:05. > :04:10.had happened and we had been taken in. Part of my role is to

:04:10. > :04:15.investigate all forms of distraction burglary, where people

:04:15. > :04:23.have been scammed within their own homes. The suspect it is playing on

:04:23. > :04:28.people's faith. And their good will. And it does upset me. They were not

:04:28. > :04:32.the only people to be targeted by the trickster with an agenda. The

:04:32. > :04:36.appeals on Crimewatch Roadshow did not track down this slippery

:04:37. > :04:41.character but they did prompt more victims to come forward. If look,

:04:41. > :04:45.that Irish gentleman, who took the money. Christine and Terry had been

:04:45. > :04:53.watching from the B&B they run in Warminster, and they recognised him.

:04:53. > :04:57.It is him, give them a call. We saw it a year ago, it was death

:04:57. > :05:01.and mayhem. I picked up the phone and spoke to one of the police

:05:01. > :05:06.officers. Christine and Terry say they were visited in 2009 by the

:05:06. > :05:13.man they had seen on the appeal. Robert Kerr. At the time, Christine

:05:13. > :05:16.was home alone at their B&B when the doorbell rang. Hello. The man

:05:16. > :05:21.at the door was very friendly and said he knew Christine's mother in

:05:21. > :05:25.law. He called himself John, and asked if they had a room where he

:05:25. > :05:31.could stay. He said he had been released from Salisbury District

:05:31. > :05:38.Hospital. He had a red band on his wrist. What is your wrist band?

:05:38. > :05:44.have been in hospital four days in Salisbury. He was really convincing.

:05:44. > :05:48.This is my husband Terry. I could chat to him quite easily, but there

:05:48. > :05:53.was something about him are wasn't sure. After convincing the couple

:05:53. > :05:57.of his story, all seemed fine until the next morning when Terry went to

:05:57. > :06:03.a hospital appointment at leaving Christine alone. I was washing up

:06:03. > :06:09.in the kitchen. I need some money! He came in so quickly it took me by

:06:09. > :06:15.surprise. He needed some money. He said he needed to go to Bristol

:06:15. > :06:21.Airport. I went into the lounge to get some money. He stood so close

:06:21. > :06:27.to me. I felt really threatened. I handed over the money. Then he said,

:06:27. > :06:33.I want some more money. I handed more money to him to get him out,

:06:33. > :06:37.because I felt really threatened. He wanted extra money to buy his

:06:37. > :06:42.granddaughter's something for Christmas. In total, Christine

:06:42. > :06:49.handed over 300. When I came back from hospital, my wife told me. She

:06:49. > :06:53.was in quite an upset state. I said to her, calm down. You can replace

:06:53. > :06:59.money but you can't replace a person. If he is watching or

:06:59. > :07:04.anybody knows where he is, give yourself in, or phone the police.

:07:04. > :07:08.Get him caught. He could do this, and he could do something really

:07:08. > :07:14.drastic to older people. It is believed that is exactly what he

:07:14. > :07:17.has done. Since we made that film, the

:07:17. > :07:23.reverend alan neil has passed away. His death had nothing to do with

:07:24. > :07:27.the case. Alan car meanwhile remains at large. Later, we'll be

:07:27. > :07:30.finding out how Robert Kerr took hundreds of pounds from an 89-year-

:07:30. > :07:33.old widow. Rav, back to you. Thanks, Dave.

:07:33. > :07:36.Now, time to have a look at today's Wanted Faces.

:07:36. > :07:40.Nine years ago today, this man, Peter Evered, was found guilty of

:07:40. > :07:44.rape and indecent assault, but went on the run before he could be

:07:44. > :07:47.sentenced. Detectives believe the 58 year old may now be using a new

:07:47. > :07:50.name. At the time of his disappearance, he had long hair and

:07:50. > :07:52.a beard, but his appearance may have changed. He's known to have

:07:52. > :07:55.connections to the Maidenhead, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire

:07:55. > :07:59.areas. Come on, let's put him back before the courts.

:07:59. > :08:02.Our next Wanted Face, Flamur Hasa, is also commonly known as Muli, and

:08:02. > :08:05.apparently introduces himself as Barney the Greek. Detectives in the

:08:05. > :08:09.West Mercia force want to speak to him in connection with wounding

:08:09. > :08:12.with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. He's originally from

:08:12. > :08:18.Albania, but now has connections to the West Midlands and Telford areas.

:08:18. > :08:21.Have you seen him recently? Next up is this man, Stephen Wesley

:08:21. > :08:24.Blake. In September last year, he was sentenced in his absence to

:08:24. > :08:27.eight years in prison, for possession of a shotgun, four years

:08:27. > :08:30.for harassment, and one year for cultivating cannabis, with the

:08:30. > :08:33.sentences to run concurrently. He's known to have connections to the

:08:33. > :08:37.Redditch and Warwickshire areas, and has a Chinese symbol tattooed

:08:37. > :08:41.on the left side of his neck, and his date of birth tattooed on the

:08:41. > :08:45.right side. He also has a tattoo, with the name "Joanne", on the

:08:45. > :08:48.inside of his left arm. Tell us if you know where he is.

:08:48. > :08:52.Last up for today is Andrew Roper. He failed to appear before Preston

:08:53. > :08:56.Crown Court back in April 2002, on a charge of rape, and a warrant was

:08:56. > :08:59.issued for his arrest. He's known to have connections to the

:08:59. > :09:02.Lancashire area and also to Gillingham in Kent.

:09:02. > :09:06.If you recognise any of these Wanted Faces, then please give us a

:09:06. > :09:10.call. Our number is 08000 468 999. Or you can text us on 63399. Text

:09:10. > :09:14.CW, space, and then your message. And that space is really important,

:09:14. > :09:18.if you don't put it in, your message won't get through to us. Of

:09:18. > :09:25.course, you can e-mail us too. The address: cwr@bbc.co.uk. Now, over

:09:25. > :09:30.to Alex in Devizes. The impact illegal drugs have on

:09:31. > :09:36.society is huge. Figures suggest that over half of all theft which

:09:36. > :09:39.happens in the UK is drug-related. Wiltshire Police are cracking down

:09:39. > :09:49.on those supplying drugs. I went out with officers in Swindon, who

:09:49. > :09:52.

:09:52. > :09:56.are our front line defence against this menace.

:09:56. > :10:03.An all come to Operation Atlantic. This is the background, on its drug

:10:03. > :10:07.use and violence in the county. Here, in Sweden -- Swindon,

:10:07. > :10:13.briefing the team about today's raid. This is all about locking up

:10:13. > :10:19.the people who cause most harm to us. As police officers prepare, I

:10:19. > :10:22.joined the leaders as they give a brief on the low-down on what is

:10:23. > :10:26.about to happen at one of the addresses to be raided today.

:10:26. > :10:30.When we get there, they will move swiftly, break the door down.

:10:30. > :10:34.Anyone inside will be put down as quickly as possible on to the

:10:34. > :10:38.ground so it makes it is safe environment for the police officers

:10:38. > :10:41.to start searching. They're looking for anything related to Class A

:10:41. > :10:46.drugs. Police say canals are coming into

:10:47. > :10:52.the county from Bristol and London, defending vulnerable people, using

:10:52. > :11:02.their homes to deal drugs. They take their positions surrounding

:11:02. > :11:06.

:11:06. > :11:10.the target property before using Police! Empty, but I'm told it is

:11:10. > :11:17.often because dealers keep their own homes separate from the address

:11:17. > :11:22.they used to deal drugs. Nobody is here. That doesn't mean there are

:11:22. > :11:28.no drugs here which is why we are searching the premises. They could

:11:28. > :11:35.come back at any point. It is a small flat. The police officers

:11:35. > :11:40.have had a look around, there's nobody here. They have happened --

:11:40. > :11:44.they have found Scales, and individual bags. The search is only

:11:44. > :11:52.just beginning. Something we will have to seize

:11:52. > :12:00.here, as you can see, it is a lot of white powder way you can hide

:12:00. > :12:05.quite a bit in there. That will be coming with us for testing. Three

:12:05. > :12:11.individual cellophane wraps, four. The way this is normally wrapped up,

:12:11. > :12:19.it is in a tight bundle like that. And it is sold like that?

:12:19. > :12:26.Apparently so. Good evidence for us. Kenya get fingerprints from that?

:12:26. > :12:35.Yes? We will take that. -- can you get fingerprints. It is not just

:12:35. > :12:41.drugs the team are looking for. That was in the kitchen, right next

:12:41. > :12:46.to the weighing scales. They may use it to cut up as well. Then, the

:12:46. > :12:56.police find something of interest. Cannabis. Tucked away in the top

:12:56. > :13:01.kitchen drawer. The female logo, is that relevant? It can be to

:13:01. > :13:06.particular people who deal with it. Their common logo. So others will

:13:06. > :13:11.know what grade it is. Whether these sources a reliable one.

:13:11. > :13:14.Criminals work hard to stay one step ahead, so sometimes it is a

:13:14. > :13:21.challenge for the police to keep tabs on their movements. The issues

:13:21. > :13:26.we have, if they have moved on, we try to get intelligence. This time,

:13:26. > :13:36.we have got links to what we believe his drug dealing.

:13:36. > :13:37.

:13:37. > :13:40.dealing is going on, money will be changing hands. This is to test if

:13:40. > :13:46.the money is real. At the end of the day, they don't even trust

:13:46. > :13:51.themselves. They bring in one last member of the team to help to

:13:51. > :14:01.complete the search. A one year-old sniffer dog, with an acute sense of

:14:01. > :14:03.

:14:03. > :14:11.smell to make sure every last This makes me think that something

:14:11. > :14:14.has been stolen. And the residual smell would have been there. Then,

:14:14. > :14:19.calling on the police walkie-talkie. The main suspect has turned up

:14:19. > :14:23.outside. Based on previous intelligence combined with today's

:14:23. > :14:28.findings, the man is detained. He is later arrested in connection

:14:28. > :14:32.with the supply of Class A drugs. The that was a very positive

:14:32. > :14:36.warrant and we have want under arrest for Class A drugs and we

:14:36. > :14:46.have a lot of intelligence and we have a robust message to send out

:14:46. > :14:53.

:14:53. > :14:58.to the people about drugs in Swindon. An update on that film...

:14:58. > :15:02.The man has been released on police bail until the end of the month.

:15:02. > :15:06.Sergeant Scott Hargreave is one of the officers who was out on the

:15:06. > :15:14.raid. This was all part of Operation Atlantic. A large number

:15:14. > :15:19.of properties were targetted. the end, the result give us 23,000

:15:19. > :15:25.worth of Class A and Class B drugs, stolen property, laptops and

:15:25. > :15:29.jewellery and it resulted in 26 arrests. You feel that you remove

:15:29. > :15:35.one person at from the drugs ring and somebody else might move in.

:15:35. > :15:40.Does this really make a difference? To it does. Previous experience has

:15:40. > :15:44.shown that if we police this robustly, it cuts down on

:15:45. > :15:48.reoffending and if we cut off at the supply, the addicts that are

:15:48. > :15:54.committing the crimes will seek help elsewhere through self-help

:15:54. > :16:02.groups for their doctor. It is ongoing. We have some of the things

:16:02. > :16:07.that you use. This is a battering ram. The Red Key! As you can see,

:16:07. > :16:15.it is very heavy. How justified is it to we used in the sun somebody's

:16:15. > :16:19.front door? Fairly justified. 35 allows us to get into any property

:16:19. > :16:26.fairly easily. To ensure that people do not get rid of their

:16:26. > :16:32.drugs. The essence is surprise. And at the door opens outwards? Yes,

:16:32. > :16:36.this is a hooligan bar. It is multi-purpose, for padlocks, four

:16:36. > :16:41.doors that open outwards or inwards and we can also clear glass from

:16:41. > :16:46.windows and doorways. I am glad you have got it because it is a very

:16:46. > :16:53.menacing piece of equipment. Back to the studio... Thank you. Still

:16:53. > :16:57.to come... Police want your help to catch the people who attacked a man

:16:57. > :17:03.after he confronted a shoplifter. He might have been doing the right

:17:03. > :17:07.thing, but they were certainly in the wrong. A web of deceit. How a

:17:07. > :17:14.con man persuaded an 89 year-old woman to handover the money she had

:17:14. > :17:18.saved to pay her bills. Police need your help to stop him. And this

:17:18. > :17:25.woman is bravely speaking out to appeal for your help to catch the

:17:25. > :17:31.man who attacked her as she walked home after a night out. But first,

:17:31. > :17:35.time to look at some everyday crime conveniently caught on CCTV.

:17:36. > :17:40.Wandsworth last November. Two men come into this telephone shop and

:17:40. > :17:45.they are closely followed by another pair. They look at the

:17:45. > :17:49.phones and start grabbing at the displays. 10 phones worth more than

:17:49. > :17:53.4,000 are stolen or damaged. The shop assistant attempts to stop

:17:53. > :17:56.them as they leave but they all manage to pull out of the door.

:17:56. > :18:06.Police would like to talk to all these men. If you know them, give

:18:06. > :18:11.us a call. Next, a private home in water nouvelle in Hampshire. March,

:18:11. > :18:16.this year, and two men skill the gates to get into the driveway. You

:18:16. > :18:22.can see them on the left. Once in, they start smashing the windows of

:18:22. > :18:27.the two cars in the driveway. Listen to the rack at their making.

:18:27. > :18:31.This has happened before. And the family have put up a 1,000 reward

:18:31. > :18:39.for information leading to a conviction. If you know who they

:18:39. > :18:44.are, call us. March this year between 1:30am and 2:00am and this

:18:44. > :18:48.Chancellor has broken into a bureau de change in central London. We are

:18:48. > :18:53.actually inside. There is a lot of debris flying around because he is

:18:53. > :18:57.making a right mess of getting inside. He was this? The Save

:18:57. > :19:02.beggar has a friend who is ripping out the alarm system. These guys

:19:02. > :19:09.are not in a hurry. They are in for more than four hours but still fail

:19:09. > :19:16.to get into the safe. They leave but the damage is substantial.

:19:16. > :19:19.Police need names. If you know who they are, you know who to call. And

:19:20. > :19:29.if you've seen anyone or anything you recognise in those clips, do

:19:29. > :19:36.get in touch. We need your help in finding the thugs who but a man in

:19:36. > :19:39.hospital. This happened in the town of Melksham. A young man spoted

:19:39. > :19:47.someone shoplifting, but when he challenged them, he was in for a

:19:47. > :19:51.shock. I thought they were literally going to beat me to death.

:19:51. > :19:57.If they're going to beat me up over ice-cream, you know they welcome

:19:57. > :20:05.back for you, just for the hill of it. Are you saying I took

:20:05. > :20:08.something? It was a cowardly attack. Five people stood around one person,

:20:08. > :20:16.a totally innocent member of the public he was only trying to do the

:20:16. > :20:20.right thing. On 15th May, 20 year- old Christopher Robinson went to

:20:20. > :20:29.his local Blockbuster DVDs to work to collect a film and also made his

:20:29. > :20:35.friend, who works there. It was at 8:30pm and I agreed that ended get

:20:35. > :20:39.an DVD. I grab the DVD and went straight to the tell. It looked

:20:39. > :20:43.quite busy. A as Christopher chatted, he noticed a group of

:20:43. > :20:48.young people they were acting suspiciously. It was mainly their

:20:48. > :20:54.body language that give it away. It was a mix of their face and their

:20:54. > :20:59.body language which bought the whole suspicious this on, really.

:20:59. > :21:07.There was a lady with black hair who put her back to me and she

:21:07. > :21:11.blocked me and was almost touching me. I looked around. Another woman

:21:11. > :21:16.reached into the fridge and took a tub of ice-cream and slipped it

:21:16. > :21:21.into her bag. They all grouped together and headed for the exit

:21:21. > :21:25.and because I saw this happening, I do not know what it was, it was

:21:26. > :21:30.literally like, if I did not do anything, so selling over one ice-

:21:30. > :21:36.cream, but that was my impulse. Acting on that in polls would have

:21:36. > :21:40.dramatic consequences. It was immediately outside, so the exit

:21:40. > :21:44.door is opened and the female lays carrying the ice-cream and the

:21:44. > :21:50.victim approach has a female writer outside the store. In the High

:21:50. > :21:55.Street. For some reason I just shouted as they were walking. And

:21:55. > :22:00.she acknowledged but ignored me so I jumped over to her. I said, give

:22:00. > :22:04.back what you have stolen and I put my hand out. She turned around and

:22:04. > :22:11.said I didn't steal anything but I opened her handbag and she gave me

:22:11. > :22:16.back which you still. That was quite odd. I went to head back when

:22:16. > :22:22.the three guys heard what was going on. And they began to approach may

:22:22. > :22:29.and they got quite close. Too close for comfort. They came on very

:22:29. > :22:35.aggressively. He said, he is dealing? A dusty and nothing!

:22:35. > :22:44.pointing out that lady. Who is stealing? At that point, he give me

:22:44. > :22:52.three blows to the face. I staggered backwards. He punched me

:22:52. > :22:58.again. Chris was dazed and confused and walked back to the shop, were

:22:58. > :23:04.his friend was working. He said, oh my God! When his mother found out

:23:04. > :23:08.about the attack, he was already in hospital. It was the early hours of

:23:08. > :23:14.the morning and I received a text message from Christopher's friend.

:23:14. > :23:17.I was shocked, what on earth had happened? I immediately went to the

:23:17. > :23:23.accident and emergency and Christopher was waiting to be seen

:23:23. > :23:30.by a doctor. Christopher sustained serious injuries, his I was heavily

:23:30. > :23:35.bruised and swollen and he also received cuts to his mouth and face.

:23:35. > :23:39.It is principle. People have strong principles and the theft occurs in

:23:39. > :23:43.front of them, when they are just about to pay for their own goods

:23:44. > :23:47.and they see somebody stealing, they think that isn't right so

:23:47. > :23:56.approaching those men, that was based on his own morals and

:23:56. > :24:03.principles. A brave thing to do. They committed to crimes on Monday.

:24:03. > :24:09.Over one ice-cream, that is nothing. A vicious attack and over some ice-

:24:09. > :24:16.cream. Andy Peach is the arresting officer. The best of motives, there.

:24:16. > :24:21.But he paid a terrible price? was a brave act. A spirited member

:24:21. > :24:27.of the community and he has gone to prevent this theft and he has been

:24:27. > :24:31.viciously attacked. He was very brave but the best thing was to not

:24:31. > :24:37.get involved and reported to police? We would advise the public

:24:37. > :24:45.not to get involved and not tackle criminals. The report it and rain a

:24:45. > :24:49.999. Let's look at this kind, they have to be caught. Three Asian

:24:49. > :24:54.males, the main aggressor, the man who punched Christopher, he was 6

:24:54. > :24:59.ft tall and have a slim build and wearing a pink short-sleeved shirt.

:24:59. > :25:06.He is described as having a local accent. And the girl who stole the

:25:06. > :25:12.as can? White Female, 20 years old, blonde hair piled on her head, she

:25:12. > :25:20.looked -- it looked like a pineapple. And the other man, dark

:25:20. > :25:25.hair, slim build. You need people to come forward and give you help.

:25:25. > :25:29.It was market place in action. Very busy? The I appeal to the community

:25:29. > :25:33.to come forward and help us catch this individual and a spring him to

:25:34. > :25:40.justice. Thank you very much indeed. The number is on the screen. You

:25:40. > :25:43.know what to do. That was a very nasty attack. If you think you know

:25:43. > :25:46.anything about that, contact us. The numbers are on your screen now.

:25:46. > :25:48.Or you can also ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

:25:48. > :25:51.Earlier in the programme we appealed for information about a

:25:51. > :25:54.con man who has appeared on Crimewatch Roadshow before but who

:25:54. > :25:59.has still not been caught, even though he is wanted by 13 police

:25:59. > :26:02.forces across the country, including Avon and Somerset.

:26:02. > :26:10.They've asked us to appeal for information after Robert Kerr

:26:10. > :26:17.deceived an 89-year-old widow in order to get his hands on her money.

:26:17. > :26:24.Robert Kerr is a prolific conman. 89 year-old Doris was about to

:26:25. > :26:30.become his latest victim. I would doubt anybody, now. Generally, I am

:26:30. > :26:35.not afraid. It started around the corner from her house when Robert

:26:35. > :26:39.Kerr born into her friend. stopped me and asked me if I knew

:26:39. > :26:43.were the Roman Catholic Church was. He was organising the funeral and

:26:43. > :26:49.wanted to look at it. While he was telling me those things that I did

:26:49. > :26:53.not believe, he was very persuasive. A Ron suggested that he should

:26:53. > :26:59.stick two daughters. He knew she was active at her local church. He

:27:00. > :27:06.thought she might be able to help. -- he should speak to Doris. He

:27:06. > :27:12.then turned up at her house. This man came to the door and said, a

:27:12. > :27:18.friend had died and he wanted to do the funeral. He wanted to do it in

:27:18. > :27:24.the church. And I said, I am very sorry but you would have to going

:27:24. > :27:29.to Clevedon, Corpus Christie, and ask the people there. We did it

:27:29. > :27:33.have funerals here. He claimed his car had broken down and he did not

:27:33. > :27:43.know what to do. Corus believe 10 and as a Good Samaritan, she

:27:43. > :27:47.invited him in. I thought he was a priest. I really did. I said to him,

:27:47. > :27:57.I was see if I can give you something. I think maybe I can help

:27:57. > :27:57.

:27:57. > :28:05.you. But this is my heating money. He has no qualms about playing on

:28:05. > :28:11.the elderly. And people have faith within the Church. He is using

:28:11. > :28:18.those factors for his own games. can only give you 200. That would

:28:18. > :28:23.probably be enough. He said he would be back with the money at 5pm.

:28:23. > :28:29.I am aware that Taurus is heavily involved in the church and because

:28:29. > :28:34.of their good nature and how plausible history was, Doris then

:28:34. > :28:37.given 200 cash from her winter heating allowance. Having promised

:28:37. > :28:43.to come back, he walked out of the house with the money that Dora's

:28:43. > :28:47.had set aside to pay for heating through the winter. Ron had second

:28:47. > :28:53.thoughts about handing over her address. Worried, he went to check

:28:53. > :28:58.on her. By the time I got there he had been and gone. We sat there,

:28:58. > :29:07.twiddling our fingers, for two hours. At 7pm we decided that he

:29:07. > :29:11.was not coming. Deplorable, really. I cannot understand how anybody

:29:11. > :29:14.could go around calling people out of their livelihood. He if anybody

:29:14. > :29:19.has any information on what this particular individual is living or

:29:19. > :29:23.staying at the moment, please call. We don't want to miss the

:29:23. > :29:31.opportunity to catch him. It has been a long time, or one year and

:29:31. > :29:34.it is time he was brought to DI Mark Wolfe is with me now, from

:29:34. > :29:37.Avon and Somerset Police, which is overseeing the investigation for

:29:38. > :29:47.all 12 forces across the country who want to talk to Robert Kerr.

:29:48. > :29:48.

:29:48. > :29:54.How similar are all the cases? is a confidence trickster, he uses

:29:54. > :29:59.a down on his luck type of story to get money out of people for public

:29:59. > :30:04.transport. Accommodation. Usually, he will focus on churches, the

:30:04. > :30:12.Royal British Legion, he is an ex soldier. He comes across with a

:30:12. > :30:17.plausible story. He is going for a similar type of

:30:17. > :30:23.victim, have any been connected? None at all.

:30:23. > :30:28.He has been on the run, why haven't you found him? He has none of the

:30:28. > :30:36.normal references, no bank account, passport, driving licence. He lives

:30:36. > :30:43.a transient lifestyle. Used as public transport, stays in B and Bs.

:30:43. > :30:49.We are keen to locate him. Does he use different names? He does use

:30:49. > :30:59.the name of Andrew Johnson. The best way of identifying him, he has

:30:59. > :30:59.

:31:00. > :31:04.his nickname on his right wrist, Skeeby. -- Scooby.

:31:04. > :31:09.It can be difficult to turn somebody away who has a hard luck

:31:09. > :31:19.stories. Do check people out, ask for identification, get someone

:31:19. > :31:20.

:31:20. > :31:26.else involved. Ring the police, that is what we are here for.

:31:26. > :31:30.If you can help track Rober Kerr down, ring us now. Thanks, Mark.

:31:30. > :31:33.Now, the fact that just about everyone now has a phone that can

:31:33. > :31:36.take pictures or films has changed the way police can gather evidence.

:31:36. > :31:39.And the Metropolitan Police hope you might be able to solve a

:31:39. > :31:41.vicious attack that someone out there caught on camera. Detective

:31:41. > :31:44.Constable George Allan is investigating this incident. This

:31:44. > :31:46.attack happened in Piccadilly Circus in central London. This

:31:46. > :31:50.happened earlier this year, on Friday 17th February.

:31:50. > :31:54.It was around 9.45pm. The victim, who is a Hungarian national, was

:31:54. > :31:57.visiting family in the UK. He was sat on the steps of the Eros statue

:31:57. > :32:00.watching the street entertainers, when a dispute between himself and

:32:00. > :32:03.the suspects started. The argument escalates to something pretty

:32:03. > :32:07.drastic. The man is attacked by a group of unidentified males. It's

:32:07. > :32:11.pretty nasty, let's take a look. So what's happening here? The man is

:32:11. > :32:21.being chased, and the suspects trip him up. They proceed to beat him up,

:32:21. > :32:23.

:32:23. > :32:27.quite viciously. A brutal attack. Now they've finished attacking him,

:32:27. > :32:30.and the victim tries to get up, but he collapses from his injuries.

:32:30. > :32:34.That's just terrible. They even hit him over the head with a vodka

:32:34. > :32:37.bottle. This guy was left with some really bad injuries. He had a

:32:37. > :32:40.dislocated left hip, a fractured pelvis, a bleed to the brain, and

:32:40. > :32:43.numerous cuts and bruises. He's still receiving medical treatment

:32:43. > :32:46.now. This is a really serious incident. You'd really like to

:32:46. > :32:49.catch these people. But with the CCTV, it's hard to recognise the

:32:49. > :32:53.people attacking. But you hope there's another piece of evidence

:32:53. > :32:57.out there that might be able to help you. We believe there could be

:32:57. > :33:00.more evidence out there on mobile phones. There were a lot of people

:33:00. > :33:03.around when this incident was happening. So we're keen to speak

:33:03. > :33:07.to anyone who witnessed this. In particular, there is a male wearing

:33:07. > :33:10.a body warmer who can be seen videoing the incident using his

:33:10. > :33:14.mobile phone. We think this person might really be able to help us.

:33:14. > :33:18.This is in the busiest part of London, 9:45pm. It's understandable

:33:18. > :33:22.if onlookers don't want to get stuck in if there's an attack going

:33:22. > :33:26.on. But if you happen to catch something like this on camera, it

:33:26. > :33:32.can really help the police. We believe other people may have

:33:32. > :33:36.filmed this incident. Evidence taken at the scene by an onlooker

:33:36. > :33:39.can really aid an investigation. It can help us to identify suspects,

:33:39. > :33:43.or even provides evidence of the incident taking place. If someone

:33:43. > :33:46.came to you, or any police force, I imagine they could remain anonymous

:33:46. > :33:55.if they wanted to? We're always grateful for the public's help with

:33:55. > :33:58.investigations. But they don't have to be named. And it can make a real

:33:58. > :34:01.difference. Let's hope they can make a difference with this case.

:34:01. > :34:05.Thanks, George. Were you in Piccadilly Circus on

:34:05. > :34:10.the night of this attack, or were you even the person filming it? You

:34:10. > :34:16.could help put these thugs behind bars. Please get in touch. Alex.

:34:16. > :34:20.Thanks, Rav. We're appealing for your help on a very serious crime.

:34:20. > :34:24.A young woman, who was raped as she returned from a night out in

:34:24. > :34:28.Swindon, has been brave enough to speak out, as she wants the man who

:34:28. > :34:37.did this to be caught. We are not identifying the woman, and her

:34:37. > :34:46.words are spoken by an actor. Before we talk to the officer in

:34:46. > :34:50.charge, let's hear from the victim what happened.

:34:50. > :35:00.IRA was with the same friends I'd go up with. We were having fun,

:35:00. > :35:06.drinking. Dancing, having a laugh. I walked home on my own. Everything

:35:06. > :35:10.was normal. I got halfway. I was grabbed from behind. Terrifying.

:35:10. > :35:13.Detective Constable Gemma Vinton is investigating the case. This is a

:35:13. > :35:16.very serious incident, and you want to talk to anyone who may have

:35:16. > :35:22.witnessed anything on that night, Thursday May 3rd, or the early

:35:22. > :35:26.hours of Friday May 4th. She had been out in the Kasbah nightclub

:35:26. > :35:33.until the early hours of Thursday May 4th. She left at 2am, and

:35:33. > :35:42.started walking home. If anybody saw anything that might

:35:42. > :35:47.be relevant, they need to contact you. Where did it happen? You can

:35:47. > :35:57.just hear the helicopter coming back. She walked down Regents

:35:57. > :35:59.

:35:59. > :36:05.Street, past the kebab shop. After that she walked up Eastcott Hill

:36:05. > :36:08.towards Old Town in Swindon. Half way up Eastcott Hill, she cut down

:36:09. > :36:12.an alleyway as a shortcut. As she entered the alleyway, she was

:36:12. > :36:15.grabbed from behind, violently thrown to the floor, and raped. Do

:36:15. > :36:19.we have any description of the man for anyone out there that may

:36:19. > :36:23.recognise him? The victim has been able to give us a description. He

:36:23. > :36:26.was a white man in his early twenties, and was wearing a hoody.

:36:27. > :36:30.His face was covered by the hood. And the victim could only see his

:36:30. > :36:33.chin, which identified him as white. Crimes of this nature are very rare.

:36:33. > :36:38.But do take precautions, let somebody know when you're coming

:36:38. > :36:41.home. Try not to be alone. Keep your mobile phone with you.

:36:41. > :36:45.This attack has had a devastating effect on this young woman, and on

:36:45. > :36:51.her family. She won't go out alone now. She told us how it's affected

:36:52. > :36:56.her. IRA put on a brave face the

:36:56. > :37:06.majority of the time, but it has had a big impact. It changes what

:37:06. > :37:11.you do, how you feel about things, about people. I didn't even want to

:37:11. > :37:16.see my Borrie mates because I didn't want to be near a guy.

:37:16. > :37:21.Please contact us if you know anything about that attack. It's

:37:21. > :37:26.really important that this man is found. What advice do you have to

:37:26. > :37:29.people to stay safe late night? They should make sure they have

:37:29. > :37:33.planned their route home. Don't walk alone if they can help it. Be

:37:33. > :37:35.aware of their surroundings. And ideally, get a taxi home to the

:37:36. > :37:39.front door. Thanks, Gemma. Hopefully the viewers can help to

:37:39. > :37:43.catch this man. Over to you, Rav. A terrible ordeal. Let's see if

:37:43. > :37:49.anyone out there can help the police. Now, time for some more

:37:49. > :37:53.crimes caught on camera. This customer has come in to look

:37:53. > :37:57.at the rings in his jewellery store in Uxbridge in Middlesex. He spends

:37:57. > :38:01.time casually chatting to the assistant about what he is looking

:38:01. > :38:07.for. The assistant puts the rings on the counter and to find out what

:38:07. > :38:12.he really fancies, having them for nothing. He grabs two rings worth

:38:12. > :38:17.five grand, and runs for it. Don't let this be run rings around anyone

:38:17. > :38:22.else. If you recognise him, get in touch.

:38:22. > :38:26.Two guys break into this newsagent in Hythe in Kent injury this year.

:38:26. > :38:32.It looks like they might have forgotten to bring a back. They

:38:32. > :38:36.come back with what looks like a duvet cover. And they manage to

:38:36. > :38:45.fillet with 5,000 of cigarettes. We do not see their faces, but you

:38:45. > :38:51.may recognise the Lennon. Come on, help us smoke out these thieves.

:38:51. > :38:55.Last one for now. See if you can help us with this one. Lloyds TSB

:40:17. > :40:22.dog, her first operational deployment in a violent situation.

:40:22. > :40:31.She kept hold of him and she saved my life. She saved the lives of the

:40:31. > :40:38.other police officers because the man was so out of control. She won

:40:38. > :40:42.a special award for bravery. PDSA gold medal, the highest order
