:00:21. > :00:37.

:00:37. > :00:42.hello and welcome to Crimewatch Roadshow. We are live and it is our

:00:42. > :00:47.last day on air, so we are pulling out all the stops to to get as many

:00:47. > :00:51.criminals behind bars as we can. Here is here is what is on the

:00:51. > :00:56.programme today. Searching for a soulmate. How online romance scams

:00:56. > :01:03.are leaving people with more than broken hearts.

:01:03. > :01:07.Help us catch the knife wielding thugs that robbed two shop workers.

:01:07. > :01:12.And one too many. We go out on the road with West Mercia Motorway

:01:12. > :01:16.Police on their summer drink-drive campaign.

:01:16. > :01:21.Our Roadshow team are at the end of their marathon thrip round the

:01:21. > :01:25.country and are still in West Mercia. Are are are you today Sian?

:01:25. > :01:29.Morning, I am at West Mercia force HQ, and we are feeling sad here,

:01:29. > :01:33.because it is our last day on the road, but it is not over yet,

:01:33. > :01:36.because today, we are focussing on drink-driving, and I am going to be

:01:36. > :01:41.trying on these beer goggles to see the effect that drinking alcohol has

:01:41. > :01:46.on the sense, plus we will see a high tech car that stops you from

:01:46. > :01:51.drink-driving. Sounds good. First, internet dating.

:01:51. > :01:54.It is estimated that round half of single people in the UK have been on

:01:54. > :01:58.line looking for love. With one in five starting a new relationship

:01:58. > :02:03.that way. But for an increasing number of people, finding love on

:02:03. > :02:13.line comes at a very high price. We have disguised the identity of this

:02:13. > :02:13.

:02:13. > :02:18.man to protect his privacy. Finding love is never easy.

:02:18. > :02:23.52-year-old Dan was keen to meet the woman of his dreams.

:02:23. > :02:27.I consider myself to be a quiet person, keep myself to myself, I

:02:27. > :02:31.haven't got a lot of confidence in talking to people. Like millions of

:02:31. > :02:35.others he turned to the internet for help and registered with several

:02:35. > :02:40.online dating agencies. I ended up talking to this lady from another

:02:40. > :02:46.country. For the West Mercia Economic Crime

:02:46. > :02:50.Unit, this story is a familiar one. The romance scam or dating scam as

:02:50. > :02:56.it is also known, has probably been going for about five years or so.

:02:56. > :03:03.One of the first things to look out for is the masking to move away from

:03:03. > :03:06.the date dating site. Dan's Russian girlfriend did just that, suggesting

:03:07. > :03:11.they email each other direct after just two weeks. She wanted to know

:03:11. > :03:16.about me, what I did and the rest of it, that I talked about her and I

:03:16. > :03:21.asked her question, she said I really want to come to England. She

:03:21. > :03:25.kept going "I love you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you."

:03:25. > :03:29.It sounded genuine. She sent me photographs of her and she was a

:03:29. > :03:34.very attractive lady, I thought I have pulled a good one here.

:03:34. > :03:40.Of course, the photographs Dan was sent were probably of a completely

:03:40. > :03:44.innocent woman who has no idea her images are being used.

:03:44. > :03:48.The photographs they use are usually photographs that have been stolen

:03:48. > :03:51.from other websites. They are probably from glamour site, they are

:03:51. > :03:54.models. -- sites.

:03:54. > :04:00.After a month of daily correspondence, the new couple

:04:00. > :04:03.decided to meet. With Christmas fast approaching, it

:04:03. > :04:08.seemed an ideal time to get together.

:04:08. > :04:15.But her trip to the UK wouldn't come cheap, and it was Dan who would have

:04:15. > :04:21.to foot the bill. 600. She said I will sort the documents

:04:21. > :04:26.out and the rest. I said "All right." She told me how much it was

:04:26. > :04:31.going to cost. She said "Are you prepared to contribute towards it?

:04:31. > :04:36.Buy me the air tick? " I said all right and that was it. So eager for

:04:37. > :04:40.love Dan didn't hesitate to pay the bill. 600 for plane tickets.

:04:40. > :04:47.is when it starts and by that time, you know, the stridge thinks they

:04:47. > :04:52.are in a relationship, and you know, all commonsense sort of seems to go

:04:52. > :04:57.out of the window. All systems go, Dan prepared to meet his true love.

:04:57. > :05:01.But then an email arrived from her, saying she had been arrested at the

:05:01. > :05:10.airport for having tablets in her bag. She needed 6,000 before the

:05:10. > :05:14.police would release her. Gl "I'm in prison, it is bad. ." You

:05:14. > :05:18.believe them. You start living on dreams. Made Christmas an

:05:18. > :05:22.anticlimax. After the disappointment of

:05:22. > :05:27.Christmas there was better news. Dan's on online girlfriend decided

:05:27. > :05:33.to sell her flat. She should be able to return Dan's hard-earned cash,

:05:33. > :05:38.and also more importantly, they could be together.

:05:38. > :05:41.But then, another hitch. Sorry I have to tell you I can't

:05:41. > :05:47.withdraw the money because I haven't paid the taxes on it, which worked

:05:47. > :05:51.out at 2300. Something like that. I should have workeren up and smelled

:05:51. > :06:00.the coffee then. Doe -- woken up. But the requests

:06:00. > :06:05.for cash kept coming. I need money for traveller's cheques. It is going

:06:05. > :06:10.to cost for a visa, medical fee, I can't wait to be with you, it will

:06:10. > :06:16.be worth it my love. Dan had now invested quite a considerable amount

:06:16. > :06:20.of money in this relationship, and only had 300 emails to show for it.

:06:20. > :06:26.The next message would leave him reeling. She got a passport, the

:06:26. > :06:30.visas, the ticket, she was in town and she said she had plenty of time

:06:30. > :06:35.to spend. I am going to the museum. She went to the museum, she said she

:06:35. > :06:40.knocked a vase over, and this vase was going to cost 2,000. Then, the

:06:40. > :06:45.penny did drop. It is easy for people to sort of

:06:45. > :06:49.say, "Silly, they deserve what they get, the rest of it." I don't follow

:06:49. > :06:54.that. These people are professional, they are part of organised crime

:06:54. > :06:58.groups, and they are very good at what they do. Extremely good.

:06:58. > :07:02.the one that went to the bank. I am the person that did the

:07:02. > :07:12.transactions, so I only have myself to blame. It was my money, my

:07:12. > :07:13.

:07:13. > :07:17.mistake. It cost me about 16,000. And Robin Longmore is we me now. Dan

:07:17. > :07:21.certainly isn't alone in being conned, is he? No, he is not sadly.

:07:21. > :07:25.There are many people out there who get caught in this time type of

:07:25. > :07:29.scam. It is frightening. Because what type of money are we talking

:07:29. > :07:34.about? We are talking serious money. It is difficult to put a figure on

:07:34. > :07:39.it because few people come forward to report these matters through the

:07:39. > :07:43.embarrassment of being caught. have got some statistic, between

:07:43. > :07:47.August and January Action Fraud say victims were conned out of 5

:07:47. > :07:51.million. That seems extraordinary to me. What do you make of it? .

:07:51. > :07:56.not surprised. I think that is probably a Conservative figure. It

:07:56. > :07:59.could be more than that. We don't get a lot of reports, its is through

:07:59. > :08:04.intelligence-led police, we identify these victims of these type of

:08:04. > :08:08.crime. Who are the victims here in who gets caught out by scams?

:08:08. > :08:12.the victims tend to be from the age range of about 35 up to about 80

:08:12. > :08:18.years of age. It is not just males or female, it is a mixture of both.

:08:18. > :08:24.We tend to find the men get scammed by purported beauties from Russia,

:08:24. > :08:29.and these are carried out by males usually, out in Russia or eastern

:08:29. > :08:32.European countries. But the ladies tend to get scammed by people from

:08:32. > :08:36.West Africa, predominantly Nigeria or Ghana. Very often the pictures

:08:37. > :08:41.they are looking at will be of white British male, or American army

:08:41. > :08:46.soldier, something of that nature. So your advice to people using them?

:08:46. > :08:52.Follow your head not your heart. Always make inquiries as best you

:08:52. > :08:57.can, ask them to go on line, and on Skype or something of that nature

:08:57. > :09:02.and wear a yellow hat or hold a banana or something of that nature

:09:02. > :09:07.so you know who you are talking to. Let us hope people are listening to

:09:07. > :09:10.that advice. Now, it is CCTV time, we will press

:09:10. > :09:18.play and if you recognise anyone we will need you to pause for thought

:09:18. > :09:22.and give us a call. March this year in Telford. This man

:09:22. > :09:27.wearing a big scarf covering his face has come into a petrol station

:09:27. > :09:31.shop. He makes his way over to the till. He has got a knife. And tells

:09:31. > :09:37.the shop assistant he wants cash. But he is told he can't open the

:09:37. > :09:42.till unless he buys something. So, the helpful thief passes him a

:09:42. > :09:47.packet of chewing gum. With the till finally open he helps himself to

:09:47. > :09:57.200 and legs it. If you know anything about this incident, please

:09:57. > :09:58.

:09:58. > :10:03.call us. These guys are here for shopping but

:10:03. > :10:09.this supermarket isn't going to get any money off them. They trail down

:10:09. > :10:13.the aisle, one after the other. One of them helps himself to some fruit.

:10:13. > :10:19.Another steals a bottle of alcohol. But when a member of staff comes

:10:19. > :10:22.over, they make a sharp exit. They are back the next month, and

:10:22. > :10:26.this time they steal some more booze.

:10:26. > :10:33.And they are at it again a few weeks later. They take a bottle of pop,

:10:33. > :10:38.and some meat. Planning a dinner party lads? Two of

:10:38. > :10:42.them make yet another visit in March. One of them selects some

:10:42. > :10:46.beer. The other takes a couple of bottles of wine.

:10:47. > :10:51.They are followed out of the shop by a member of staff. Over the four

:10:51. > :11:00.month period they take 900 worth of stuff.

:11:00. > :11:05.Do you know any of these men? London. April this year.

:11:05. > :11:11.An up market shop in Piccadilly. These guys head for the coats. Not

:11:11. > :11:14.to buy, but to help themselves. One of them opens the bag ready. But

:11:14. > :11:19.they are disturbed. Once the coast is clear, they get

:11:19. > :11:24.straight back to business. This time, they get the coats, worth

:11:24. > :11:28.a total of 1200, in the bag. Then, they leave the shop

:11:28. > :11:34.separately. Come on, don't let them get away

:11:34. > :11:41.with it. You know what to do. If you recognise anyone there make

:11:41. > :11:44.sure you pick up the phone. You can call us. Remember Calls are free

:11:44. > :11:49.from most landlines. Some networks and mobile operators will charge for

:11:49. > :11:52.these calls. Text us.

:11:52. > :11:58.That space is important, if you don't put it in your message won't

:11:58. > :12:04.get through. Texts will be charged at standard message rate. You can

:12:04. > :12:09.email us, the address is on the screen.

:12:09. > :12:14.Next, how one laid night shift as at a convenience store turned into a

:12:14. > :12:18.nightmare. We were doing our normal tidying up.

:12:18. > :12:24.Suddenly this man was in front of me. Open the till. Give me the

:12:24. > :12:34.money. He wants the money and he has a knife. I couldn't believe what

:12:34. > :12:35.

:12:35. > :12:40.just happened. In Shrewsbury in February of this

:12:40. > :12:44.year, Christine Collins was at work in her local shop. She has worked at

:12:44. > :12:49.the shop for over seven years, and lives in the local area.

:12:49. > :12:56.It is handy for me. Everybody is nice, the customer, the regulars are

:12:56. > :13:03.nice. Get on well with all of them. Sundays are quiet, and we were

:13:03. > :13:06.getting ready to tidy up a bit, because we shut at 9.00 on a Sunday.

:13:06. > :13:11.While Christine was out front her colleague Jo was in the back.

:13:11. > :13:16.Because of her fear of reprisal, we have changed her name, and hidden

:13:16. > :13:21.her identity. Jo was in the stock room getting stuff to put out on the

:13:21. > :13:27.shelves because we weren't busy with customers.

:13:27. > :13:32.But their peaceful Sunday late shift was about to be disturbed.

:13:32. > :13:37.I happened to look up at the cameras which is automatic when you hear the

:13:37. > :13:43.door go. That is when I saw somebody come in, all hooded up. Give me the

:13:43. > :13:48.money, give me the money now. Suddenly this man was in front of

:13:48. > :13:53.me. Get it open, now. Come on. Hurry up. I could hardly see his face, he

:13:53. > :13:56.said "Give me the money." He got hold of me, he had a knife. He

:13:56. > :14:02.leaned over straight away and grabbed hold of Chris, that is when

:14:02. > :14:12.I shot out into the shop. I had no plan at all. My main concern all the

:14:12. > :14:13.

:14:13. > :14:17.time was Chris. I was shaking, I could not open my till. His next

:14:17. > :14:23.move was to get behind the counter to get his hands on the cash.

:14:23. > :14:30.backed into the corner and wanted to stay well away from him. He'd used

:14:30. > :14:37.his blade to prise open the till to help himself to the day's takings.

:14:37. > :14:45.He got the money, and I press the panic alarm. I could not believe

:14:45. > :14:50.what had happened. Chris was very shook up. She was very frightened.

:14:50. > :15:00.The minute he left, she collapsed on the floor. She put her arms around

:15:00. > :15:04.

:15:05. > :15:14.me and help me. The panic, the pain, it hurts so much. Can I have an

:15:15. > :15:22.

:15:22. > :15:32.still struggling to come to terms with this vicious attack. I could

:15:32. > :15:34.

:15:34. > :15:37.still be serving him. I cannot place him, there are two eyes, a nose, and

:15:37. > :15:45.he could still be coming in the shop, and I could still be serving

:15:45. > :15:50.him. I am not the same. I do not feel the same any more. But it is my

:15:50. > :16:00.job. I have been there a long time, and I like it. I cannot let somebody

:16:00. > :16:06.

:16:06. > :16:13.Take us through a description of this man. We are looking for a white

:16:13. > :16:23.male in his late teens, early 20s, five foot ten to five foot 11, he

:16:23. > :16:28.has a pale, peachy complexion, with a pointed nose. What was he

:16:28. > :16:36.wearing? A great or green hooded top, underneath which another white

:16:36. > :16:40.hooded top. The top is pulled tightly around his face, you can see

:16:40. > :16:45.parts of his facial features. He is wearing black Adidas tracksuit

:16:45. > :16:52.bottoms, which have three White stripes three quarters down the leg.

:16:52. > :16:56.You think he left on a bike? Yes, on a skinny type dog mountain bike,

:16:56. > :17:01.with straight handlebars, we believe it went towards Coniston Road

:17:01. > :17:08.injuries brief. What about the nice? This is similar to the one

:17:08. > :17:15.that was used. A three inch blade, the handle was not seen, because it

:17:15. > :17:19.was tucked away. As it is the last show in the

:17:19. > :17:24.series, let's have a look back at some of the faces that need that

:17:24. > :17:31.final push to help police track them down or stop starting with this guy,

:17:31. > :17:35.he may now be calling himself by another name, as he uses aliases,

:17:35. > :17:40.including Anthony Stevenson Wilson and Lee Anthony Wilson. He was

:17:41. > :17:45.handed a sentence in 2004 for a series of robberies. He was released

:17:45. > :17:50.early on licence but is now wanted back in jail. He is known to have

:17:50. > :17:55.links to Manchester and Spain. This man is next, 23-year-old Mohammed

:17:55. > :18:00.Islam, he is wanted by officers in Hampshire with sexual assaults's

:18:00. > :18:07.with connection with sexual assaults on women in the area. He speaks with

:18:07. > :18:14.a Bangladeshi accent, and he carries a backpack. Police in Northern

:18:14. > :18:18.Ireland need your help to find this lady, she may now be using a number

:18:18. > :18:24.of different names, including Doctor Jules Watson, Julia Macaw, Celia

:18:24. > :18:28.McGoogan or just Celia Holmes. She has been missing since 2010, when

:18:28. > :18:34.she was charged with defrauding a man out of 18,000 by pretending to

:18:34. > :18:38.be an American millionaire. She failed to appear in court. She is

:18:38. > :18:42.known to have connections across Ireland and in Bedford. Finally,

:18:42. > :18:45.Charles Dhillon has served seven years for raping a woman at

:18:45. > :18:49.gunpoint, he is now on the sex offenders register, but he has

:18:49. > :18:55.failed to notify police of his current whereabouts. Officers think

:18:55. > :19:05.he is a threat to the public, 5'5" tall and believed to be in the

:19:05. > :19:14.London area, possibly pilfered. Pick up the phone. The context us. You

:19:14. > :19:17.can also e-mail us. Can you help us find a light

:19:17. > :19:23.fingered jewellery thief and his shopping companion, caught

:19:23. > :19:27.red-handed on CCTV? These two men saunter into a

:19:27. > :19:33.jewellery shop in the middle of Shrewsbury Town at around 1130 on

:19:33. > :19:36.the 29th of March. Then, they home in on one particular display

:19:36. > :19:42.cabinet. They asked the assistant to show them a pair of cheap pal

:19:42. > :19:48.earrings. Whilst one man holds her attention, the other reaches over

:19:48. > :19:54.her fate and steals a platinum and diamond ring worth 25,000. Then,

:19:54. > :20:04.they stop to pay for the earrings before strolling out of the store.

:20:04. > :20:11.Unbelievable. Tell me about the ring. It is quite distinctive, it

:20:11. > :20:19.has got a large central time and, -- a large central diamond, the size of

:20:19. > :20:23.a 5p. There are diamonds around the shoulders, and a platinum ring.

:20:23. > :20:29.was an audacious theft, what did you know about the man? He is about five

:20:29. > :20:36.foot ten, stocky, short, dark hair that was not styled, he was wearing

:20:36. > :20:41.blue jeans and had a puffer jacket on. Wasn't he looking through a wad

:20:41. > :20:46.of money? Yes, he had a lot of money with him, to show he could pay for

:20:46. > :20:51.something, tried not to be suspicious. The other man was more

:20:51. > :20:55.distinctive, an Asian male again, five foot eight, medium build, he

:20:55. > :21:05.had styled black hair and a distinctive style beard that

:21:05. > :21:07.

:21:07. > :21:10.followed his jawline. Still to come, over the limit, we

:21:10. > :21:16.are on duty with the motorway police, cracking down on drink

:21:16. > :21:22.drivers. It is Friday, so Jackie is back with

:21:22. > :21:25.some more results. You may remember last year we appealed for

:21:25. > :21:29.information about some burglaries at some of market apartments in

:21:30. > :21:35.Battersea. We had tens of thousands of pounds worth of jewellery

:21:35. > :21:42.stolen. We showed some really clear CCTV pictures and reconstructed what

:21:42. > :21:46.happened. February last year, and Sandra

:21:46. > :21:51.Burrows went to work as usual. It'll be chino that two burglars were

:21:51. > :21:54.about to steal her life's possessions. They were seen

:21:54. > :21:58.approaching her upmarket block of apartments. One pressed the buzzers,

:21:58. > :22:06.the other made sure he was not leaving any fingerprints. They were

:22:06. > :22:12.smartly dressed to fit in, so nobody would ask questions, they would put

:22:12. > :22:15.a lot of thought into it, and they were well organised. They made their

:22:15. > :22:20.way up to the flat on the sixth floor and forced their way in.

:22:20. > :22:30.Stealing more than 11,000 worth of treasured possessions and heirlooms.

:22:30. > :22:31.

:22:31. > :22:35.Ransacking every room. Very angry with them, that they think they can

:22:35. > :22:40.take these things and claim on their insurance and it will be fine, but

:22:40. > :22:45.the loss of the sentimental items, they are not replaceable.

:22:45. > :22:50.burglars wanted more. They moved next door, where they stole over

:22:50. > :22:57.2000 worth of possessions. To add insult to injury, they also took the

:22:57. > :23:00.owner's car, caught on CCTV driving out of the underground car park.

:23:00. > :23:08.They go down the left, into the garage, see the anti-space, and it

:23:08. > :23:12.was like, the final hit. But Sandra decided to fight back. She printed

:23:12. > :23:18.off leaflets with photos of the burglars for her neighbours, and as

:23:18. > :23:21.a result, she found out the thieves had struck again. CCTV showed the

:23:21. > :23:28.burglars approaching nearby apartments and a game in the garage

:23:28. > :23:36.area. This time, they escaped with 150,000 worth of jewellery. But we

:23:36. > :23:40.were about to end their spree. It is such a horrible crime. How

:23:40. > :23:44.were the offenders identified? had loads of calls from our viewers,

:23:44. > :23:54.and one of them recognised both men, which led to the arrest of a couple

:23:54. > :23:58.

:23:58. > :24:03.of Essex lads. Larry Alan Cooley and Adam Jury. The names were given, and

:24:03. > :24:09.they -- and one of them was in prison at the time. Yes, for an

:24:09. > :24:14.unrelated events -- offence, and he saw himself on the television in his

:24:14. > :24:20.cell, and he was seriously spooked. Once the police had his name, they

:24:20. > :24:26.went to see him, and they tracked down Adam Jury, who was working as a

:24:26. > :24:32.plumber. A successful prosecution's they both pleaded guilty, Larry Alan

:24:32. > :24:37.Cooley sentenced to 18 months, Adam Jury to two years. There were a lot

:24:37. > :24:43.of sentimental items stolen, were any of them recovered? Sadly, no.

:24:43. > :24:50.Sandra Burrows is the heroine of this case, she put a lot of personal

:24:50. > :24:54.effort into catching these guys. Actually, she was delighted with the

:24:54. > :24:56.results. If we had not gone to Crimewatch

:24:56. > :25:01.Roadshow, they would not have caught them, because the police have no

:25:01. > :25:07.other leads, other than these fantastic pictures that we had on

:25:07. > :25:12.CCTV. Having said that on TV, we could get a result. I was happy they

:25:12. > :25:16.caught up with them, because the biggest thing was knowing that they

:25:16. > :25:19.were still out there and they were going to do this to other people. I

:25:19. > :25:24.was happy they caught them as a result of the show.

:25:24. > :25:29.A small amount of closure for the brave victim. You are going to be

:25:29. > :25:35.back later to give us some results for the whole series. Let's go to

:25:35. > :25:39.shone. Drink-driving, we all know it is

:25:39. > :25:44.wrong, yet every year, hundreds are killed on the road by drivers

:25:44. > :25:53.flouting the law. We went out with police officers in forcing a

:25:53. > :25:57.nationwide summer campaign to crack down on drink drivers.

:25:57. > :26:03.The central motorway police group looks after more than 400 miles of

:26:03. > :26:07.one of the busiest road networks in Britain. We have just passed to

:26:07. > :26:14.emergency vehicles, and... , solid looks like we might be the first

:26:14. > :26:18.officers on the scene. Today, as well as patrolling the motorway,

:26:18. > :26:21.these policemen are on the lookout for drivers who have been drinking.

:26:21. > :26:27.They have just been alerted to a road traffic accident on the M6 toll

:26:27. > :26:30.road outside Birmingham. The vehicle has left the carriageway, the

:26:30. > :26:36.paramedics are working with the patient, so the priority is the

:26:36. > :26:42.patient. Once we get the go-ahead, we can breathalyse the driver to

:26:42. > :26:46.make sure there is no drink or drugs involved. I am just going to do a

:26:46. > :26:54.breathalyser. Have you had this before? You can hold the machine,

:26:54. > :27:03.blow as hard as you can. Keep going. Brilliant, thank you. That is all

:27:03. > :27:07.done. It is a zero, you have passed. I will pass you on to an officer.

:27:07. > :27:11.Both the driver and passenger escaped serious injury. But drivers

:27:11. > :27:16.who do have alcohol in their system are up to six times more likely to

:27:16. > :27:23.die in a crash. It is a miracle no one was killed by this drunk driver

:27:23. > :27:29.will stop in July of last year, he drove his lorry ten miles up the M6

:27:29. > :27:34.with his lights off, going the wrong way. He was jailed for eight months

:27:34. > :27:39.and is qualified from driving for three years after proving to be more

:27:39. > :27:42.than twice over the legal limit. Back on the road, the summer

:27:42. > :27:49.drink-driving campaign has already stopped thousands of drivers. These

:27:49. > :27:53.were all under the limit. But a van has caught the officers' attention.

:27:53. > :28:03.We have spotted a van travelling at speed, we will speak to the driver,

:28:03. > :28:04.

:28:04. > :28:12.see if they have had a drink. A big, deep breath in, give it some money.

:28:12. > :28:16.You have failed the roadside breath test. You are under arrest. Having

:28:16. > :28:21.failed a breathalyser, this driver will now be taken to the police

:28:21. > :28:26.station, where he will be tested again, more accurately. If he fails

:28:26. > :28:31.there, he is in real trouble. Drink-driving is a very serious

:28:31. > :28:37.offence, the consequences, especially for him, will be very

:28:37. > :28:43.serious, he needs his fun for his job, it is his livelihood. If he

:28:43. > :28:50.fails at the station, he will lose everything. Anyone caught driving

:28:50. > :28:52.over the limit faces up to six months in prison and a 5,000 fine.

:28:52. > :29:01.But the consequences of drink-driving can be far worse than

:29:01. > :29:04.that. Kelly was beautiful. Not only was

:29:04. > :29:12.she very pretty, she was also very beautiful inside. She was happy,

:29:12. > :29:18.smiley, had a good sense of humour, the perfect daughter. She was my

:29:18. > :29:20.baby. Kelly was a 20-year-old out in a car

:29:20. > :29:28.with her friend, who had been drinking.

:29:28. > :29:37.When the car crashed, the driver survived. But Kelly did not.

:29:37. > :29:41.When the police knocked at the door, you just, you just know. There is

:29:41. > :29:51.bad news, two police officers stood there. They start saying Kelly's

:29:51. > :29:59.been involved in an accident. into that room... I still see

:29:59. > :30:09.Kelly's face. Sheer terror. On her feature, her beautiful eyes

:30:09. > :30:14.

:30:14. > :30:20.Back in the police station, the driver arrested for failing his

:30:20. > :30:26.roadside breath test is about to face his moment of truth.

:30:26. > :30:32.Deep breath. Keep going, keep going, keep going. Keep going.

:30:32. > :30:37.That's it. This is the calibrated breath test procedure we conduct at

:30:37. > :30:41.the station. It is more accurate than the roadside which gives you an

:30:41. > :30:51.initial reading, really, however, this is the most accurate you can

:30:51. > :30:56.get, so, yeah, see what happens with this. The legal limit is 35ml of

:30:56. > :31:04.alcohol for every 100ml of breath. This driver has come in at 27. He

:31:04. > :31:08.has passed but it is a closical. is very scary. Driving is my job, I

:31:08. > :31:11.am a carpenter by trade. It is an eye-opener for me. I will be more

:31:11. > :31:16.careful. I don't want to go through this again. I certainly don't. I

:31:16. > :31:20.want to keep my license, I want to have a clean license. Simple as

:31:20. > :31:25.that. The driver is released without charge.

:31:25. > :31:28.The officers are back out on patrol. As a traffic officer, we are looking

:31:29. > :31:32.for drink-drivers so it is not like, you know, we only do it when the

:31:32. > :31:42.campaign is on. We are constantly looking for anyone that is

:31:42. > :31:42.

:31:42. > :31:49.drink-driving. The very sad consequences of

:31:49. > :31:53.drink-drive, and I am joined by PC Dal Nijjar. Dal, you have brought

:31:53. > :31:57.beer goggles, what are these for? That is right. This is a beer

:31:57. > :32:00.goggle, it is an educational thing we use, for members of the public,

:32:01. > :32:05.to experience what it is like to be a drink-driver, if they have had a

:32:05. > :32:11.drink and get into a car and start driving. It is very powerful. Which

:32:11. > :32:15.is what we want. It gets the message home and people appreciate the

:32:15. > :32:19.consequences of drink-driving if they ever did. Let us try it and see

:32:19. > :32:24.what it is like putting them on. I am going o to go on to this white

:32:24. > :32:28.line and follow it. So get on the line, what exactly do I need to do?

:32:28. > :32:38.Just, basically walk in a straight line, toe to toe. If you start

:32:38. > :32:44.walking in a straight line. It feels very strange. I feel disorientated,

:32:44. > :32:48.and quite woozey, I don't know how I am doing here, any clues? Am I on

:32:48. > :32:52.this line, it feels like I am. Unfortunately you are nowhere near

:32:52. > :32:57.the line, you are not walking in a straight line. I am right off the

:32:57. > :33:02.line. That is right.Fascinating to see, I thought I was walk on the

:33:02. > :33:06.line. My sense of direction and gravity has gone all the police,

:33:06. > :33:10.people still get into a car when they have had a drink. Too much to

:33:10. > :33:14.drink. That is right. We have small percentage of people that still want

:33:14. > :33:18.to get in a car and drive. They will think they are OK. They are only

:33:18. > :33:23.going am to B and unfortunately we see the other side when we go to the

:33:23. > :33:26.accident, where it could be serious. You do. -- A to B. Thank you for

:33:26. > :33:31.bringing these along. Back to you, Rav.

:33:31. > :33:35.Now, last week, we made an appeal on behalf of the Met police about a

:33:35. > :33:38.series of sex attacks in East London. They urgently need to catch

:33:38. > :33:41.this man. They believe he has been sexually assaulting women in the

:33:41. > :33:44.Canning Town area, usually as they are letling themselves into their

:33:44. > :33:50.properties late at night. -- letting. Now detectives believe he

:33:50. > :33:54.struck again. This is the sixth attack and it happened on Wednesday

:33:54. > :33:57.June 19th. A week after the previous attack. The Met have released CCTV

:33:57. > :34:02.footage of what happened before the assault. The victim, here onnen

:34:02. > :34:07.right, who had been visiting a friend in Cundy Road is seen loading

:34:07. > :34:10.her ka with luggage before heading home. The suspect walks past and has

:34:10. > :34:15.obviously noticed her. He is seen lurking round before he walks in

:34:15. > :34:18.front testify car. And there we get a better look at him. Just minutes

:34:18. > :34:23.after that CCTV footage was filmed, the victim was about to buzz herself

:34:23. > :34:27.back into the build, when the man sexually assaulted her, he needs to

:34:27. > :34:31.be stopped and if you know anything please ring the number on your

:34:31. > :34:35.screen now. Now, focus your attention, it is

:34:35. > :34:40.time to look at a few more Crookes caught on CCTV.

:34:40. > :34:44.-- Crookes. The bookies in Epsom March this

:34:44. > :34:49.year, these two men are in a hurry, the jackpot they want is behind the

:34:49. > :34:53.till. They start threatening the terrified staff. Forcing them to get

:34:53. > :34:56.on the floor. One of the men heads to the cash room and fills his

:34:56. > :35:00.plastic bag with money. As the other one keeps watch.

:35:00. > :35:05.Then they carry out a thorough search of the tills.

:35:05. > :35:09.All together, they steal over 3,000, before making their escape.

:35:09. > :35:19.The whole raid takes less than 90 seconds.

:35:19. > :35:23.They might have their faces covered, but do you know them? Surrey now and

:35:23. > :35:28.it is long past closing time at this restaurant in Richmond. Look at this

:35:28. > :35:34.man raiding the till. He helps himself to 60. He manages to look

:35:34. > :35:39.straight at the camera, giving us a view of his face. Thanks mate.

:35:39. > :35:47.Police say he also went on to steal three bottles of champagne worth

:35:47. > :35:51.200. If you know this champagne Charlie, get in touch.

:35:51. > :35:54.These men are hanging round the gaming machines at a bingo hall in

:35:54. > :35:58.Norwich. But they are not gambling, they are looking like they are

:35:58. > :36:01.casing the joint. According to police, they are

:36:01. > :36:05.putting stickers on some of the machines.

:36:05. > :36:10.Then, three different men arrive in the early hours, police think they

:36:10. > :36:12.are all working as a team. They are trying really hard to keep out of

:36:12. > :36:17.sight, but nothing gets past the cameras.

:36:17. > :36:24.Here they are, using crowbars to get the money out of the machines.

:36:25. > :36:27.On to the change machine next. In total, get away with 4,500 and

:36:28. > :36:34.cause nearly 50,000 worth of damage.

:36:34. > :36:38.They have got some nerve, they even take a break before leaving. Police

:36:38. > :36:43.are keen to speak to the two men who were seen at the beginning as well

:36:43. > :36:49.as the three who broke in. Look at the faces, do you know them? If you

:36:49. > :36:56.can help give us a call. Or send us a text.

:36:56. > :37:01.Or you can email us instead. Remember, if you want to stay

:37:01. > :37:07.anonymous you can call Crimestoppers.

:37:07. > :37:12.Sian? We have seen mobile breathalysers in action but you can

:37:12. > :37:16.get them fitted into cars like these. Wayne Walton is with me to

:37:16. > :37:22.tell me about it. We are going to try this straight away so I can use

:37:22. > :37:28.it. I have to try and start this car which I am do doing, nothing is

:37:28. > :37:31.happening because we have to do the breath test You are not allowed to

:37:31. > :37:38.start it until you give a clear breath sample. Hopefully, that will

:37:38. > :37:42.work. OK, it is saying it is analysing, who uses this kit?

:37:42. > :37:46.national coach companies will use it this haulage companies will use it.

:37:46. > :37:52.To ensure they have sober drivers in their vehicles. It is being used at

:37:52. > :37:56.the moment, where did the idea come from? Originally it came across from

:37:56. > :38:01.America, it was used wildly on the Continent as well these days and we

:38:01. > :38:06.are playing catch up. It is a sophisticated piece of kit. Tell us

:38:06. > :38:14.more about it? OK, so it won't allow do you start the engine, you can get

:38:14. > :38:18.a reporting system on the back of it, that will show... Pass there.

:38:18. > :38:22.And do a report for big businesses that want to see people are using

:38:22. > :38:26.the vehicle properly. Right. I have put some mouth wash

:38:26. > :38:30.into my mouth now, because that is going to simulate as though I have

:38:30. > :38:39.got alcohol on my breath. We will give that test a quick go to see

:38:39. > :38:48.whether it shows that is a fail. Thank you.

:38:48. > :38:52.Blow for a longer period of time. So sophisticated kit this, because if

:38:53. > :38:56.you don't do it right it comes up straight away and tells you, I will

:38:57. > :39:02.show there is a fail on that. And then there is no way that this car

:39:02. > :39:06.will be going anywhere. It will not start. Thank you for taking us

:39:06. > :39:12.through that, fascinating stuff. Rav, back to you. As it is our last

:39:12. > :39:16.show Jacqui is back to tell us how we have been doing. It has been

:39:16. > :39:22.busy? Yes, we have had loads of calls. All the information has been

:39:22. > :39:26.handed over to police, arrests are being made, Protestant's being

:39:26. > :39:32.recovered and strong new lines of inquiry have been taken on so it is

:39:32. > :39:37.fantastic as ever. Ewe have had good feedback on the advice we are giving

:39:37. > :39:41.out It ask heartening to know how they have embracing the tips we have

:39:41. > :39:49.been give, con people who have been pretending to be bank employees and

:39:49. > :39:52.conning people into giving out PIN number, even Dyson repair men,

:39:52. > :39:56.distraction burglaries involving people purporting to be gas people,

:39:56. > :39:59.all those sorts of things are easy to stick in your mind and prevent

:39:59. > :40:03.crime for the future. For me prevention is better than cure, so

:40:03. > :40:07.if we can stop a crime happening that is a massive plus for everyone

:40:07. > :40:11.concerned is. Great to be back and nice to be working with you one more

:40:11. > :40:15.time. For now, let us go back to Sian.

:40:15. > :40:21.We have had a brilliant time with our four weeks on the road, we have

:40:21. > :40:26.been through nine police force, covered 1200 mile, we featured

:40:26. > :40:31.parrots, horses and dogs, and we have been on land and on the sea.

:40:31. > :40:35.Here are our highlights. Welcome to Crimewatch Roadshow.

:40:35. > :40:39.We are on a mission to tackle the kinds of crime that could happen to

:40:39. > :40:45.any of us. Some suspected criminals are on the

:40:45. > :40:50.loose in the countryside near Preston. Today, it is up to these

:40:51. > :40:56.dogs to apprehend the suspects. We will have a hands on free view of

:40:56. > :41:02.the police car on the future, and Rav, you have gadget envy. The

:41:02. > :41:07.Channel Tunnel is a massive policing challenge, it 140 metres beneath the

:41:07. > :41:11.sea. As you can hear I have feathered friends here in the

:41:11. > :41:16.studio. Take a look at this. No mobile phones in those day, that is

:41:16. > :41:22.how they would be getting all their communications.

:41:22. > :41:28.What do I do? Put your right food on the pad. A lot of information you

:41:28. > :41:35.can get from that. There are three helicopters based here, on call to

:41:35. > :41:38.police London behind me, 24 hours a day.

:41:38. > :41:43.Quick update for you, detectives in North Yorkshire tell us they have

:41:43. > :41:47.arrested one of the wanted faces we showed you earlier in the week.

:41:47. > :41:51.officers are joining forces to tackle every aspect of road crime.

:41:51. > :41:56.Imagine if it was your pet that was stolen. Dognapping in particular is

:41:56. > :42:01.on the rise. I am with the longest serving police

:42:01. > :42:06.horse here. Sian, I hear you have been up to no good in Northampton?

:42:06. > :42:12.am being checked into custody. Jacqui, welcome back. Yes, they have

:42:12. > :42:17.found a clip. Six faces for you, they are wanted for serious crimes

:42:17. > :42:23.throughout the UK. I still have that suit. I have that uniform somewhere.

:42:24. > :42:28.Thank you for watching. Take care. And what a month we have had. A huge

:42:29. > :42:33.thank you to police forces for hosting us and to all of you for

:42:33. > :42:38.letting us tell your story, we hope we have made a huge difference, from

:42:38. > :42:41.all of us on the Roadshow team, bye. Can't we do it all again? That is

:42:41. > :42:47.everything for this series, our phone lines are open for another

:42:47. > :42:50.week, so there is still time to help if you can. We will be on the

:42:50. > :42:53.website for another week and we will leave you with one last look at some
