:00:29. > :00:40.

:00:40. > :00:44.Hello, and welcome to Crimewatch Roadshow. We're live, and we're here

:00:44. > :00:52.every weekday morning looking at the crimes that can spoil your lives. On

:00:52. > :00:59.the programme today: risking it all to get away.

:00:59. > :01:05.A father forced to jump from a card to escape his abductors. We are out

:01:05. > :01:10.with a special -- special squad on Moss Side clamping down on thieves.

:01:10. > :01:20.And, the good neighbour savagely attacked while checking out a pair

:01:20. > :01:27.

:01:27. > :01:30.of suspicious men. Good morning, I am at the

:01:30. > :01:35.headquarters of Greater Manchester Police in Central Park. A massive

:01:35. > :01:40.force area with plenty to keep the 8000 police officers on their toes.

:01:40. > :01:50.Later, we take a close look at some weapons which appear harmless but

:01:50. > :01:51.

:01:51. > :01:55.are really deadly. The 11th of March was an ordinary

:01:55. > :02:00.day for this shopkeeper, or so he thought.

:02:00. > :02:10.I thought, I am helpless here, what are they going to do to me? I opened

:02:10. > :02:16.

:02:16. > :02:22.I went to school here, all my friends are here, most of my family

:02:22. > :02:30.is here. I bought my own post office, I have had it seven years. I

:02:30. > :02:35.know the community really well. The 11th of March was just another

:02:35. > :02:43.ordinary day at this Oldham post office. I did my reports at 530,

:02:43. > :02:47.like I normally do. Then I stopped up in the shop. That night, this

:02:47. > :02:53.dedicated father was picking up his two young children from their

:02:53. > :02:58.after-school club at the local mosque. At six pm. , he closed the

:02:58. > :03:02.shop, and made his way to his car which was just around the corner.

:03:02. > :03:07.looked at the car park and saw two men wearing hats and scarves on

:03:07. > :03:12.their face. The only thing I could see was their eyes. At that moment,

:03:12. > :03:15.I didn't think too much, I thought it was cold which was why they were

:03:15. > :03:25.covering their faces. All of a sudden, they headed straight for

:03:25. > :03:34.

:03:34. > :03:41.someone was playing a prank. I felt scared. No one was around, I was on

:03:41. > :03:45.my own. I was helpless. What were they going to do to me? These

:03:45. > :03:51.criminals overpowered him but as he struggled to get free, things took a

:03:51. > :03:59.turn for the worse. He got something out of his pocket. A hand-held

:03:59. > :04:03.device, I didn't know what it was. He was hit by a stun gun. A weapon

:04:03. > :04:08.that can carry a charge of 1 million volts. I could feel the electric

:04:08. > :04:13.shock going through me, my leg especially. Then a burning sensation

:04:13. > :04:18.after the electric shock. It felt really painful. The unusual thing

:04:18. > :04:25.about this case, we often find people are threatened with weapons,

:04:25. > :04:31.but often they are not used. He was shot four times. Once would have

:04:31. > :04:36.stunned him. Up to four times it would have momentary boat --

:04:36. > :04:42.immobilisation. It must've caused a lot of pain. Snatching his keys,

:04:42. > :04:50.they bundled him into his own car. Already shot and in pain, he was

:04:50. > :04:55.terrified. I felt really, really frightened, helpless. I couldn't do

:04:55. > :04:59.anything. Things were about to get even worse, as he was driven into

:04:59. > :05:08.the night. Unbelievable. We will see what

:05:08. > :05:13.happened next, later. We start now with a nasty fight

:05:13. > :05:17.caught on camera. October last year, in the elephant and Castle area of

:05:17. > :05:26.London. Watch the man at the top of the

:05:26. > :05:31.screen picking a fight with someone. A second man follows shortly after.

:05:31. > :05:35.Although it is only a cayenne, in front of commuters, they are

:05:35. > :05:40.assaulting a man in broad daylight. Even after pushing him to the

:05:40. > :05:45.ground, they continued punching and kicking him. Eventually, members of

:05:45. > :05:49.the public get involved to pull the men away. The police need to

:05:49. > :05:57.identify these violent men and their victim.

:05:57. > :06:01.If you know anything, call us. A bookies in Hounslow, May this

:06:01. > :06:06.year. It looks like this man is having a really bad day. After a few

:06:06. > :06:12.minutes, he loses it completely, reaches for the machine, and pulls

:06:12. > :06:20.it to the ground, and calmly steps of it on his way out. Do you know

:06:20. > :06:26.this grumpy gambler? Give us a call. A bus from all switch to Sutton

:06:26. > :06:31.Green at 4am. One of the passengers is asleep at the back of the bus.

:06:31. > :06:37.This man looks like he is settling down for a casual nap as well. But,

:06:37. > :06:40.no, it is a ruse to get him closer to the dosing passenger and his

:06:40. > :06:47.phone. After a while, he settles down with a newspaper, not to catch

:06:47. > :06:52.up with events, but as a decoy while he steals the phone. He even has the

:06:52. > :06:57.cheek to check it out under his paper, before making a pretty

:06:57. > :07:02.leisurely getaway. Take a good look at this laid-back thief, and call us

:07:02. > :07:12.if you recognise his face. If you do recognise any of these

:07:12. > :07:16.

:07:16. > :07:24.faces, pick up the phone. You can call us. You can also text us. Of

:07:24. > :07:30.course, you can e-mail us as well. Sean?

:07:30. > :07:32.Rav, we are encouraged to keep an eye out for intruders but when one

:07:32. > :07:39.good they both became concerned about a potential break in next

:07:39. > :07:46.door, he ended up as the victim. A savage attack on a 62-year-old man.

:07:46. > :07:51.I didn't know what was happening. Pain flashed through me. Now, the

:07:51. > :07:57.hunt to catch the two men responsible is on. Simon was

:07:57. > :08:01.enjoying a quiet night at home. He has asked us not to use his real

:08:01. > :08:08.name for fear of reprisal. He was about to go to bed after staying up

:08:08. > :08:13.to record a TV programme. When I go to bed at night time, I always check

:08:13. > :08:17.up everything is locked up. Everything is OK, secured, the

:08:17. > :08:22.windows and back door locked. particular night, he noticed

:08:22. > :08:29.something which made him suspicious. I had seen a torch light over the

:08:29. > :08:34.next door at a house. I thought it was a flashing light coming on and

:08:35. > :08:38.off in the kitchen. Then, I saw it again. Anxious about what he had

:08:38. > :08:44.seen, Simon went outside to investigate. But something bad was

:08:44. > :08:51.about to happen to this good neighbour.

:08:51. > :09:01.I shouted, what is going on, who is it? And this person just came out of

:09:01. > :09:07.

:09:07. > :09:11.nowhere. He noted me. -- nutted. I didn't know what was happening, pain

:09:12. > :09:18.flashed through my head. Injured but desperate to see where his attacker

:09:18. > :09:26.was going and doing, he followed. I went around the bend, I bumped

:09:26. > :09:31.into a second man. I saw him lifting a hammer up. I thought, he is going

:09:31. > :09:36.to hit me over the head. The second attacker then hit him repeatedly

:09:36. > :09:42.with a hammer, in a savage and brutal attack. He hit me over the

:09:42. > :09:47.arm, I could feel my bone crunching, the pain in my arm, I couldn't

:09:47. > :09:57.believe that someone would do this to me. Someone so dangerous out

:09:57. > :09:57.

:09:57. > :10:02.there with a hammer. Basically he was trying to kill me. The pair of

:10:02. > :10:06.men ran off leaving Simon seriously injured on the street. His arm was

:10:06. > :10:10.broken but it could have been much worse. We are treating it very

:10:11. > :10:14.seriously, it is a section 18 assault which carries life

:10:14. > :10:19.imprisonment. But for the presence of mind of the victim who protected

:10:19. > :10:26.himself with his arm, we could be looking at more serious offences,

:10:26. > :10:31.they could have murdered him. I think the force used has been

:10:31. > :10:37.excessive. He could have run away, pushed him over and made escape.

:10:37. > :10:41.They took the option to assault him and sustain the attack on him which

:10:41. > :10:46.has resulted in severe injury. is desperate for anyone with

:10:46. > :10:55.information to come forward. I feel haunted by this man who has done

:10:55. > :11:03.this to me. And gutted what he has done. I need him to be caught,

:11:03. > :11:08.because I think he tried to kill me. On the night. He is a dangerous

:11:08. > :11:14.person. This man needs to be caught as soon as possible and put away.

:11:14. > :11:22.Simon says, until that happens, he will feel unsafe in his own home.

:11:22. > :11:27.I am joined now by one of the main leaders in the investigation of this

:11:27. > :11:32.case. A savage attack on a 62-year-old gentleman who sustained

:11:32. > :11:40.injuries to his arm, a fracture, still causing him problems to this

:11:40. > :11:47.day. He has been badly affected, a horrendous, terrifying the deal --

:11:47. > :11:52.ordeal. He was hit with a hammer several times. You are very keen to

:11:52. > :11:57.track these bend down and you have pretty good description. The victim

:11:57. > :12:07.has provided descriptions of the two people responsible. The first,

:12:07. > :12:08.

:12:08. > :12:15.having in East European accents, five tall -- having an East European

:12:15. > :12:21.accent. Wearing a leather jacket and gloves. The second, and East

:12:21. > :12:24.European accent, 40 years of age, six feet tall, wearing dark

:12:24. > :12:30.clothes. If anything knows anybody after saying that, please get in

:12:30. > :12:36.touch. You want anyone who recognises these men to get in touch

:12:36. > :12:40.straightaway? Yes, the key to this lies in the community. Anybody who

:12:40. > :12:45.sees those voters will know the responsible person. Please make

:12:45. > :12:50.contact with the police as soon as possible.

:12:50. > :12:56.Please keep those calls coming in, it really makes a difference. After

:12:56. > :13:01.yesterday, police are following up some really strong leads, the conman

:13:01. > :13:08.especially who pretended to be fixing Mary's electricity but

:13:08. > :13:15.stealing from her purse. Many people got in touch offering help. And help

:13:15. > :13:19.wanted in connection with people involved in violent disorder at a

:13:19. > :13:24.Millwall match, police officers now have a potential name of one

:13:24. > :13:27.suspect. We showed you the CCTV of a man kicking a traffic warden in the

:13:27. > :13:32.head. Again, a number of potential names the him which police are

:13:32. > :13:38.looking into right now. It is time to have a look at today's

:13:38. > :13:45.Wanted Faces and we start with this man.

:13:46. > :13:48.This man is wanted for connection with two counts of GBH where one man

:13:48. > :13:53.was attacked and another attacked with a baseball bat. Police have

:13:54. > :13:59.been looking for him 30 years. He had connection with the Kingston

:13:59. > :14:02.upon Thames area. Next is this man. He is wanted for

:14:02. > :14:08.by detectives in London in connection with an attack on to

:14:08. > :14:13.serving police officers. His hair is now more grey than this image taken

:14:14. > :14:17.in 2004. He has a distinctive scar on his left cheek, and described as

:14:17. > :14:23.dangerous. If you know where he is, do not approach him, just contact

:14:23. > :14:29.the police. Our third face is this man. He has

:14:29. > :14:33.been on the run for ten years. He was given temporary police from

:14:33. > :14:39.prison but failed to return. He was in gel for beating a woman to death

:14:39. > :14:42.with a poker. This is an old photo but please do not think his

:14:42. > :14:49.appearance has changed much. He was born in Oldham but could be anywhere

:14:49. > :14:54.in the UK. Finally, this man. He failed to

:14:54. > :14:59.appear before Harrow Crown Court in March 2010 on a charge of grievous

:14:59. > :15:03.bodily harm and a warrant issued. He is originally from Brazil, and has a

:15:03. > :15:07.12 inch vertical scar on his upper thigh. Last known to be living

:15:07. > :15:14.around north-west London. If you recognise any of these faces, pick

:15:14. > :15:24.the phone and please call us. You can text us. Of course, you can

:15:24. > :15:34.

:15:34. > :15:44.and had my folks and kidnapped in his own car that we find out. And

:15:44. > :15:48.

:15:48. > :15:51.tackling the burglars targeting missing Persons bureau to try to

:15:51. > :15:56.find the 300,000 people who go missing every year. Thankfully, they

:15:56. > :16:01.find most safe and well but some work involves having to identify

:16:01. > :16:07.bodies, and they are looking for a man found in the Manchester canal in

:16:07. > :16:12.March. That is in that direction. Inspector Morris, you can tell us

:16:12. > :16:18.about this man. He was found in Bridgewater Canal in

:16:18. > :16:22.March, in white male, 20 to 40 years old, no tattoo is all scores and a

:16:23. > :16:28.full set of teeth. He was found in his underwear, long johns and a

:16:28. > :16:33.black T-shirt. This is the closing that was found a

:16:33. > :16:36.month before the body, it is related that case -- clothing.

:16:36. > :16:41.It was found in month before we found him on the canal bank, along

:16:41. > :16:45.with books. And you want anybody to take a look

:16:46. > :16:53.at this clothing. The book she referred to are pretty unusual. You

:16:53. > :16:55.have got them here. -- books. We took them to a professor at

:16:55. > :17:00.Manchester University who said it is extracts from various religions and

:17:00. > :17:05.it looks as though it has been researched online, but a lot of work

:17:05. > :17:08.has gone into these works, they are nicely bound.

:17:08. > :17:14.So potentially the man made these books from his own research. There

:17:14. > :17:18.is handwriting on some pages when notes have been taken, so a what put

:17:18. > :17:23.into this. A lot of homeless shelters around

:17:23. > :17:27.Manchester, we have tried to trace him to these, but unfortunately we

:17:27. > :17:33.have not been able to. So it does seem a mystery because

:17:33. > :17:38.you have been to the usual places and you have tried to follow up on

:17:38. > :17:43.the books, but it remains a mystery, so viewers could be vital in this.

:17:43. > :17:48.He is not known to the police and has never been arrested. We have

:17:48. > :17:51.fingerprints and DNA but not on the database, so if viewers can phone

:17:51. > :17:54.in, hopefully we can return him to his family.

:17:54. > :18:01.Look at this clothing and if you recognise it all the books, please

:18:01. > :18:04.get into it. I am joined by Sherry Latham from

:18:04. > :18:07.the serious organised crime agency which has launched a website to help

:18:07. > :18:13.with cases like the one you have just seen, tell me more.

:18:13. > :18:17.The missing Persons bureau launched this website in November last year

:18:17. > :18:24.to enlist the help of the public to identify these people who still

:18:24. > :18:30.remain unknown. It contains details of deceased individuals found with

:18:31. > :18:37.no identification and a life people who for a number of reasons cannot

:18:37. > :18:42.identify themselves -- alive. So somebody with dementia, for example.

:18:42. > :18:51.And we can see details here, you have photographs of distinctive

:18:51. > :18:58.marks on somebody, so you have got tattoo is here. That would be very

:18:58. > :19:02.distinctive and that is a great clue in identifying somebody. And you

:19:02. > :19:08.also use artist impressions, tell me about those.

:19:08. > :19:11.Where it is not appropriate to have an image of the unidentified people,

:19:11. > :19:16.police enlist the help of a forensic artist to put together a likeness of

:19:16. > :19:22.that person and these are effective tools in identifying somebody.

:19:22. > :19:31.There are other details that you do put on this website. This is

:19:31. > :19:41.closing. Again, it is so distinctive it is the sort of thing that would

:19:41. > :19:42.

:19:42. > :19:46.jog somebody's memory. But this is a shield design, what does that mean?

:19:46. > :19:53.We gave deep consideration before we developed the website about putting

:19:53. > :19:58.images on it. The aim and the important thing is to identify them

:19:58. > :20:01.and images is the best way to do that. We have tried to minimise

:20:01. > :20:06.distress by obscuring those images, and people have to choose to view

:20:06. > :20:09.them. We would not expect anybody to see images they do not expect to

:20:10. > :20:14.see. And one not look at that now for

:20:14. > :20:17.obvious reasons but if somebody wants to go on that, they can do. It

:20:17. > :20:24.is a wee days but it is working, you have had a success story.

:20:24. > :20:28.We recently had our first match through the site. We were contacted

:20:29. > :20:36.not long after launch I somebody who had seen a case of a non-identified

:20:36. > :20:38.female they thought could be an aunt of theirs. We had fingerprints of

:20:38. > :20:42.the body and we worked retrospectively to find fingerprints

:20:42. > :20:45.and we found it much. And it gives that family some form

:20:45. > :20:48.of closure. It is about bringing resolution to

:20:48. > :20:54.the family. Fascinating, thank you for

:20:54. > :20:59.explaining it to was. What you to? I am reporting on a burglary

:20:59. > :21:07.operation because that 28,000 reported burglaries in the Greater

:21:07. > :21:11.Manchester area -- there were 28,020 12. The custody suites are getting

:21:11. > :21:17.full and we went out on a burglary operation in the Mossside area of

:21:17. > :21:23.the city. Burglary here is a chronic problem.

:21:23. > :21:27.Most deaths are small-scale but for the victims, they are serious. This

:21:27. > :21:33.sergeant and his team are running an operation to crack down on these.

:21:33. > :21:38.Priority for the force is burglaries. Unfortunately, it has a

:21:38. > :21:43.lasting effect for victims of crime in that when people are burgled,

:21:43. > :21:48.they feel insecure in their own premises and their privacy is

:21:48. > :21:52.violated, so we take it very seriously.

:21:52. > :22:00.The property they are after is small, things like portables, your

:22:00. > :22:07.tablets, gadgets they can carry. Most of what I say burglaries can

:22:07. > :22:12.get down alleyways to shortcuts and if they are on bikes, they will

:22:12. > :22:16.quickly disappear. As dusk settles, it is not long

:22:16. > :22:20.before somebody catches the eye of the team, a male cyclist has been

:22:20. > :22:24.seen repeatedly circling the area and they suspect he has his eye on

:22:24. > :22:33.an unattended bike. They decided to check him out.

:22:33. > :22:37.You are going to get searched. Hang on! Let go of me!

:22:37. > :22:40.Keep your hands down. I will have to put you in handcuffs.

:22:40. > :22:45.They suspect the man may be in position -- may be in possession of

:22:45. > :22:53.bike is dealing equipment. With the man objecting to their search, they

:22:53. > :22:59.do not take any chances. Why are you handcuffing me? !

:22:59. > :23:04.Stop palling! You cannot keep pulling against us.

:23:04. > :23:08.When we first saw him, he was paying attention to a bike. We have a lot

:23:08. > :23:13.of pedal cycles stolen and he seemed to watch it slowly. We have seen him

:23:13. > :23:18.a couple of times circling round. The officers find the man has done

:23:18. > :23:23.nothing wrong and he is free to go. Have a pleasant evening.

:23:23. > :23:28.We have got quite a few of these houses taken up by students.

:23:28. > :23:33.Potential for five or six students having a laptop, a phone each, so if

:23:33. > :23:38.a burglar is to commit a burglary in one house, it could be potentially

:23:38. > :23:43.yielding, so it attracts burglars. Later, a group of men on bikes are

:23:43. > :23:48.asked to stop. Most of the men escaped but one man is not quick

:23:48. > :23:53.enough. Why are you running?

:23:53. > :23:59.I am not running. Why have your friends run off? Stop

:23:59. > :24:05.lying to me. You try to run away, why? Why are you riding around the

:24:05. > :24:08.streets? I have got nothing to hide.

:24:08. > :24:16.Where did you get the bike from. My mate.

:24:16. > :24:20.Tell me his name. I do not know his second name. I met

:24:20. > :24:22.him on the main road. What is his telephone number? How

:24:22. > :24:27.are you getting the bike back to him?

:24:27. > :24:30.An officer spots a phone that seem suspicious.

:24:30. > :24:37.That is not his bone, look at the contacts and the photos.

:24:37. > :24:40.His story just is not adding up. that is not his phone.

:24:40. > :24:45.He is arrested on suspicion of theft and taken into custody.

:24:45. > :24:51.When we found a phone, there is a list of contacts and one was for

:24:51. > :24:56.parents. We work -- we rang them and they confirmed the owner is a

:24:56. > :24:58.student from Manchester. We will go to the address to establish why this

:24:58. > :25:02.man was riding around with this phone.

:25:02. > :25:07.Police arrived at the student's phone and he tells them what has

:25:07. > :25:12.just happened. I turned round was trying to get

:25:12. > :25:17.away from him and he came after me and pushed me against the railings,

:25:17. > :25:23.went through my pockets, threatened to stab me. I did not see a knife at

:25:23. > :25:27.a was not going to muck around. The main thing is I was not stopped, so

:25:27. > :25:31.no harm has come. He is reunited with his phone and

:25:31. > :25:36.his bike and seems none the worse for his ordeal. But that is not

:25:36. > :25:41.always the case. When you are threatened with

:25:41. > :25:44.violence, a chat -- it changes the way people live their life. So they

:25:45. > :25:50.will not use certain routes, they will always be looking over their

:25:50. > :25:54.shoulder at who is about and who is watching, and it can do hate. People

:25:54. > :26:00.sometimes will not go out for weeks after a robbery so it is really

:26:00. > :26:06.satisfying when we get somebody in. 2:30am, the team are on high alert.

:26:07. > :26:13.This is prime time for offending. Hello, boys, we know what you are up

:26:13. > :26:18.A gang of suspected burglars hotfoot it into an estate, the police are on

:26:18. > :26:26.their tails. The suspects vanish into a network

:26:26. > :26:33.of gardens and alleys, and all-too-familiar tactic. A search

:26:33. > :26:37.turns up nothing, and it seems this time, they have escaped. But in all,

:26:37. > :26:41.tonight's operation has been a success.

:26:41. > :26:45.What is important is that during the night, we have not stopped anybody,

:26:45. > :26:50.we have been targeting people we believe are acting in crime and it

:26:51. > :26:54.has been led by intelligence. We have had people make from us in

:26:54. > :27:04.hotspot areas that we are satisfied that we have prevented a crime from

:27:04. > :27:05.

:27:05. > :27:10.Busy night! And now back to the frightening incident we told you

:27:10. > :27:14.about before, a shopkeeper who was ambushed after he left work to pick

:27:14. > :27:20.up his children. Earlier, we saw how this father of

:27:20. > :27:27.three and shopowner was ambushed on his way home.

:27:27. > :27:32.I just felt scared. Nobody else was around and I was on my own. I

:27:32. > :27:38.thought, I am helpless here. After shocking him with a stun gun,

:27:38. > :27:41.these men put him in the back of a car and abducted him, they pushed a

:27:41. > :27:50.cloth over his head that was so tight, he felt he was suffocating.

:27:50. > :27:53.As soon as they put back of over my face, I could see nothing. I was

:27:53. > :27:58.panicking and breathing heavily, I could not control my breathing, I

:27:58. > :28:02.felt really help us. What happens next made his blood run

:28:02. > :28:06.cold. They told him that they were

:28:07. > :28:10.watching his family and that he would have to do what he was told if

:28:10. > :28:15.he wanted to see them again. When they mentioned my family, my

:28:15. > :28:23.children, it just really shocked me, I was really scared and I was

:28:23. > :28:26.thinking, why are you involving my kids? If you want something from me,

:28:27. > :28:31.get it from me. We cannot imagine how he must have

:28:31. > :28:35.been feeling, to know his family were under threat must have been a

:28:35. > :28:43.horrendous ordeal for him. I made my mind up, I am going to get

:28:43. > :28:48.out of this situation. My only focus was my family and that is what made

:28:48. > :28:51.me a stronger person from inside. The car kept moving, and by now he

:28:51. > :28:58.was very distressed, blindfolded, upset, and with his family under

:28:58. > :29:04.threat, he feared for his life but knew he had to act. What happens

:29:04. > :29:10.next made him determined to escape. He said, give me your hands. And I

:29:10. > :29:16.saw a piece of rope in his hands so I knew he would tie my hands up and

:29:16. > :29:20.if he did that, I had no chance. My focus was to open the back door and

:29:20. > :29:24.get out onto the road. He made the brave decision to open

:29:24. > :29:28.the car door and jump out. I did not think of any consequences

:29:28. > :29:33.of what was going to happen after that.

:29:33. > :29:37.He obviously did not know what was going to happen next. He has been

:29:37. > :29:41.through this terrifying ordeal and jumped from a moving vehicle, that

:29:41. > :29:47.is how much threat he felt under of being abducted by these two men.

:29:47. > :29:54.Wasim broke his wrist in the fall. I was really lucky to only have

:29:54. > :30:00.broken my wrist and nothing else. I was thinking, if a car was coming

:30:00. > :30:05.from the opposite direction, anything could have happened.

:30:05. > :30:10.Wasim's car was found a few streets away, abandoned. Thankfully, his

:30:10. > :30:15.family were safe and sound. I have got my life back and am with

:30:15. > :30:19.my family again. I still feel scared going back to work. I am always

:30:19. > :30:22.wary, looking around, I do not think it will be the same for a long

:30:22. > :30:26.time. This is humour -- this is an

:30:26. > :30:31.horrendous crime, they used a stun gun con and made threats against his

:30:31. > :30:41.family, we need to catch them before they strike again because next time

:30:41. > :30:46.

:30:46. > :30:51.the consequences could be even more serious attack but it is a mystery

:30:51. > :30:58.what these men wanted? They never actually make clear what they

:30:58. > :31:04.wanted, they've made demands for keys but not which keys. Anybody who

:31:04. > :31:10.was in that area, the car park at the junction, on Monday 11th of

:31:10. > :31:16.March 20 six pm. . You have some descriptions of these men. Two male

:31:16. > :31:23.offenders. They spoke Punjabi. In particular, with a dialect which we

:31:23. > :31:31.know is particular to the Oldham and Bradford areas. That could be key to

:31:31. > :31:37.the investigation. And, the stun gun, it had a horrific impact. What

:31:37. > :31:43.do you know about the gun which was used? This is not the stun gun which

:31:43. > :31:49.was used. We do not know the make or model used. These are very dangerous

:31:49. > :31:52.weapons, not readily available but not impossible to get. We have had a

:31:52. > :31:57.warrant executed in greater Manchester, someone has ordered a

:31:57. > :32:02.stun gun from the Internet and the delivery company has notified the

:32:02. > :32:12.police. Somebody has been arrested for purchasing a stun gun. So you

:32:12. > :32:14.have taken one of these off the streets correct. If you can help the

:32:14. > :32:19.police with this investigation, it is vital you get in touch.

:32:19. > :32:26.We heard earlier how the UK Missing Persons Bureau has launched a

:32:26. > :32:31.website to publicise unidentified people and remains. Keith is here

:32:31. > :32:36.now and needs our help, tell us about your appeal? Two weeks ago

:32:36. > :32:41.today we discovered the body of a lady in a shallow grave. We are

:32:41. > :32:45.taking her death as murder and are appealing to the public for help in

:32:45. > :32:52.identifying how. What have you got to go on at the moment? We have

:32:52. > :33:01.built a profile of this lady. was petite, five, middle-aged, with

:33:01. > :33:04.blonde hair. She had a lot of cosmetic dentistry. And she was

:33:04. > :33:09.wearing for very distinguishable rings. We can see those on the

:33:09. > :33:17.screen, are unique. Two of them in particular you want to know more

:33:17. > :33:23.about. This one with a black heart. That was worn in a certain fashion

:33:23. > :33:28.which interested you. This ring has a history in Irish Catholics, it was

:33:28. > :33:33.worn with the heart facing into the body which could suggest this lady

:33:33. > :33:39.was in a relationship. This other one with a number of stones, one

:33:39. > :33:46.stone is missing, there could be a reason for that. Maybe this jokes

:33:46. > :33:50.somebody's memory? It is a combination of four rings, so

:33:50. > :33:56.possibly unique to one individual. There is further information you

:33:56. > :34:01.want to release about a vehicle. a result of enquiries, we have had

:34:01. > :34:09.witnesses come forward saying they saw a Renault vehicle around the

:34:09. > :34:14.entrance, at ten pm. , and seen on two separate occasions. There may be

:34:14. > :34:18.an innocent explanation, but I would appeal to the owner or driver to

:34:18. > :34:25.come forward. If anyone saw the vehicle in the area at that time, I

:34:25. > :34:30.would appeal to them to come forward to progress this. This Renault, it

:34:30. > :34:36.could be a new or older model, it may not be that exact colour but it

:34:36. > :34:42.will help people. Remind us of the date and time? Mid April this year,

:34:42. > :34:51.two separate occasions, ten pm. , a slightly unusual golden colour.

:34:51. > :34:56.Hopefully we can help you. Take a look at these shocking at

:34:56. > :34:59.first sight. Just a small number of the weapons which have been taken

:34:59. > :35:03.off the streets by Greater Manchester Police over the past

:35:03. > :35:10.years and months. A variety of weapons we are going to take a good

:35:10. > :35:14.look at now. Rod is from the serious crime division. Shocking to see

:35:14. > :35:22.these. You are very well aware of what they are. How big a problem is

:35:22. > :35:30.gun crime here? We have had major successes over the last five years,

:35:30. > :35:37.it is fallen by over 60% -- it has fallen.

:35:37. > :35:44.I was surprised, these are cigarette lighters. Beast macro -- beast macro

:35:44. > :35:51.guns? This is a fully functioning weapon whereas that is a ball

:35:51. > :36:00.bearing gun which was up to a few years ago available at Army and Navy

:36:01. > :36:06.'s -- stores. They are now illegal. This is interesting, I didn't know

:36:06. > :36:12.what this was, small but lethal. This is a key fob firearm, capable

:36:12. > :36:21.of discharging two rounds, just by depressing a button. I have dealt

:36:21. > :36:27.with a fatality when that weapon was used. This is a zip gun. Pulling the

:36:27. > :36:31.lever back, it can fired two rounds. We talked about stun guns earlier in

:36:31. > :36:36.the programme. One has been intercepted today. There is one here

:36:36. > :36:42.which looks like a mobile phone. looks like an older mobile phone but

:36:42. > :36:47.it does exactly the same as the other two. It is illegal in this

:36:47. > :36:52.country. What is public is how on earth do people get hold of them?

:36:52. > :36:58.One of the joys of the Internet. They are available online. People

:36:58. > :37:05.import them into this country. You have heard we have had an

:37:05. > :37:09.interception today. Knives, machete attacks. They are not that common.

:37:09. > :37:18.These weapons are hard to conceal. There is a lot of media attention.

:37:18. > :37:21.The most common article used is a cooking knife.

:37:21. > :37:29.Watch closely, we need your help to name more criminals caught on

:37:29. > :37:33.camera. We are at a bar and nightclub in

:37:33. > :37:38.London's West End. It is not open yet but this beef obviously does not

:37:38. > :37:43.think it is too early for a table. This bar is deserted so he goes

:37:43. > :37:49.around to help himself. His pockets are not big enough so he puts one

:37:49. > :37:54.bottle in his trousers. He is not finished, though, and decides to

:37:54. > :38:00.check out the other room. In there, he raids the fridge and steal small

:38:00. > :38:05.bottles and, you have guessed it, they also go down his trousers. He

:38:05. > :38:11.goes behind the bar again for a final top up, before leaving through

:38:11. > :38:19.a fire exit with 900 of champagne and vodka. Do you know this thirsty

:38:19. > :38:24.thief? Get in touch if you do. A jewellery shop in Hemel Hempstead.

:38:24. > :38:28.And this man is on a mission. He had a threatening note to the shop

:38:28. > :38:33.assistant. In it, he claims to have a stun gun and says he will shoot

:38:33. > :38:37.unless he's given jewellery. The man then goes behind the counter with a

:38:37. > :38:42.plastic bag and starts stealing stuff. The shop assistant sees his

:38:42. > :38:47.chance and makes a run for it, closely followed by the thief whose

:38:47. > :38:52.bag is holding 20,000 of jewellery. He fumbles with the door before

:38:52. > :38:58.making his getaway. Do you know this stun gun grabber? Give us a call if

:38:58. > :39:02.you do. It is Christmas Day in Gloucester.

:39:03. > :39:07.It should be a joyous occasion but not for the woman with the white

:39:07. > :39:11.handbag over her arm. Here she is walking into church. She makes her

:39:11. > :39:16.way down the aisle choosing herself a seat in plenty of time for the

:39:16. > :39:22.service. A few other people seem to be doing the same, but keep an eye

:39:22. > :39:28.on the man in a blue coat. She leaves her bag and walks off. It

:39:28. > :39:33.will be safe in a church, right? Wrong. This man has other ideas and

:39:33. > :39:43.picks up her bag, hides it in his jacket and walks out. So much for

:39:43. > :39:43.

:39:43. > :39:48.goodwill to all men. Come on, tell us who this shameless thief is.

:39:48. > :39:51.What a despicable crime on Christmas Day of all days. If you recognise

:39:51. > :39:58.him or anyone else, do get in touch.

:39:58. > :40:04.Please call. Or send us a text. Or drop us an e-mail. If you want to

:40:04. > :40:14.remain anonymous, you can call Crimestoppers.

:40:14. > :40:18.I am with the Northern division of the force. You have a brand new tool

:40:19. > :40:24.which is proving effective. automatic resource location system

:40:24. > :40:28.which tells us where officers are, compared with incidents is

:40:28. > :40:33.happening. Before we get into detail, we want to set it a test

:40:33. > :40:38.because we know you can track officers and their exact location.

:40:38. > :40:44.Patrick, if you don't mind, going out there, we will follow your every

:40:44. > :40:50.move on this map. How did you get this idea? It was something I

:40:50. > :40:57.believe which appeared on TV, as a Hollywood dream. We have a system

:40:57. > :41:03.now up and running. From the streets of Hollywood to Manchester. Let us

:41:03. > :41:08.look at it now, what can we actually see? This is the greater Manchester

:41:08. > :41:15.area. These are the police officers patrolling the streets. The triangle

:41:15. > :41:23.shows the vehicles driving around. The square, incidences which are

:41:24. > :41:29.ongoing where we send resources. How useful is it practically? Before, it

:41:29. > :41:33.was just radios. For a major instance, we nearly had a gas

:41:34. > :41:39.expansion in North Manchester, we could map our resources and set a

:41:39. > :41:48.chord in. Where is Patrick now? about to lead the police station.

:41:48. > :41:52.can follow him, the red Square. That will be Patrick going on patrol.

:41:52. > :41:57.all works, thanks for explaining it to us.

:41:57. > :42:02.Lots of calls coming in today. Some information already on one of our

:42:02. > :42:09.faces, Teddy Simpson, wanted in connection with two attacks on

:42:09. > :42:13.police officers. And another face, a possible lead, this man failed to

:42:13. > :42:20.return to prison where he served time for beating a woman to death.

:42:20. > :42:24.News just in, a possible name on the hammer attack in Manchester. That

:42:24. > :42:28.horrendous attack. What are you doing tomorrow?

:42:28. > :42:33.I will be down the road in Manchester city Centre, Friday

:42:33. > :42:38.night, we will be out with the police and partygoers who flood into

:42:38. > :42:43.the city centre over the weekend. will be looking at a common crime,

:42:44. > :42:49.bike theft, and what you can do to avoid it. Thank you. For more

:42:49. > :42:54.details, head to our website. Finally, we will leave you with
