:00:15. > :00:24.put a few more criminals behind bars. We hunt for a gang stealing

:00:25. > :00:31.gold bullion. This is a new level for us. A pensioner who is not

:00:32. > :00:42.prepared to take a burglary lying down. I want that money back. And an

:00:43. > :00:46.escape route for abuse. We are out with the domestic violence team. If

:00:47. > :00:51.you are at home and you think we have nowhere to go, you will put up

:00:52. > :01:00.with it. We can say, actually, we can help you. You are watching

:01:01. > :01:09.Crimewatch road show. Hello and welcome to

:01:10. > :01:10.Crimewatch Roadshow. It's the start

:01:11. > :01:12.of our final week travelling the country tackling the kind of

:01:13. > :01:30.crime which blights all our lives. The Athe cruel thief who hoodwinked

:01:31. > :01:41.a pensioner and stole a family heirloom. -- the cruel these. And a

:01:42. > :01:47.neighbour who came to the rescue. I knew something serious was going on.

:01:48. > :01:50.Today the Roadshow's reached London and Sian is at the Olympic Park

:01:51. > :01:59.Yes, we're in the shadow of the famous orbital,

:02:00. > :02:01.where the Metropolitan Police's rope team is waiting to descend nearly

:02:02. > :02:06.First up, a pensioner who's up in arms after a couple of bogus

:02:07. > :02:19.How dare these men come into my home and do what they have done? I want

:02:20. > :02:24.them punished. I do not care how long it takes. As far as I am

:02:25. > :02:33.concerned, they have to go to prison. This man has always enjoyed

:02:34. > :02:39.a spot of gardening. Before his wife died, they spent many hours in the

:02:40. > :02:46.garden together. We had our tea out there, or just sat that and read a

:02:47. > :02:52.book. Very happy times. At 81, doing all the pruning and cutting back is

:02:53. > :02:55.not as easy as it used to be. I am restricted to certain things I can

:02:56. > :03:03.do in the garden. Height is one of them. On 5th of August last year,

:03:04. > :03:09.when a man turned up offering to cut his head, it seemed to be just the

:03:10. > :03:14.helping hand Roy look for. When I looked at the card that was flashed

:03:15. > :03:21.at me, I thought, this is it. They were genuine people. I agreed to

:03:22. > :03:25.have the trees cut back. A deal was struck at ?180. The men appeared

:03:26. > :03:29.professional and got on with the job. Every now and again I looked

:03:30. > :03:33.out to see what they were doing. Then I found they were doing the

:03:34. > :03:39.side of the hedge, which I did not want them to do. I thought, I will

:03:40. > :03:51.wait till they come in and I will confront them. These men gave the

:03:52. > :03:56.appearance they were professional. Once they had finished, one of the

:03:57. > :04:00.men came in for the money. Roy had agreed to pay ?180 and had the cash

:04:01. > :04:09.ready. Having downed the extra work, the man wanted more. I said, you

:04:10. > :04:20.were not asked to do the side of the hedge. They said, we have done it

:04:21. > :04:25.now. That will be ?400. I thought, I will only get 100 out. I pulled the

:04:26. > :04:30.money out of the safe, but it onto the bed and then rushed downstairs

:04:31. > :04:36.to give them the money to get rid of them. I did not lock the safe and

:04:37. > :04:45.the money was on the bed. One of the men insisted he go outside to

:04:46. > :04:50.inspect the handiwork. Whilst he was being distracted in the garden, the

:04:51. > :04:57.other man was upstairs, helping himself to the contents of the safe.

:04:58. > :05:02.Outside, his accomplice suddenly seemed more open to negotiation. I

:05:03. > :05:10.said to him, I will give you only ?100. He said, all right, I will

:05:11. > :05:16.give you ?100. I never saw the boss after that. He had gone. Roy went

:05:17. > :05:22.back upstairs to lock the safe, relieved they have left. He found

:05:23. > :05:32.the thieves had taken ?6,000 in cash as well as irreplaceable pieces of

:05:33. > :05:35.jewellery. There was no money and two rings, one belonged to my aunt

:05:36. > :05:41.and that was a wedding ring, and my wife 's engagement ring had gone as

:05:42. > :05:46.well. It is not just financial loss, it is that someone had invaded his

:05:47. > :05:53.home uninvited and gone into intimate areas of the house. I feel

:05:54. > :05:57.these people are fairly professional and proficient at this. Boy is

:05:58. > :06:05.trying to come to terms with the fact he was conned in this way. I

:06:06. > :06:10.was very angry. I really was. I want them punished and as harshly as they

:06:11. > :06:17.can get punished. They will have to pay the money back whatever happens.

:06:18. > :06:24.Roy is certainly not taking this lying down.

:06:25. > :06:29.These people target the elderly because they think they

:06:30. > :06:41.But you do have a few lines of investigation in this case.

:06:42. > :06:50.Going back to the man who did not at the door, what other clues could

:06:51. > :06:53.there be? I believe by the party they used at the scene in order to

:06:54. > :06:56.get the confidence of the victim, these people are pretty professional

:06:57. > :07:01.gardeners. They arrived in a vehicle, had the requisite tools for

:07:02. > :07:07.the job. I think these people would have done this before and probably

:07:08. > :07:11.work in the local area. ?6,000 was taken. Roy is very security

:07:12. > :07:25.conscious but they did manage to trick him. It really is a shocking

:07:26. > :07:30.case. Now for the wanted faces. This is Michael Nolan. He was jailed for

:07:31. > :07:37.seven years for robbery and was released in 2010. He has failed to

:07:38. > :07:44.stick to the conditions and is now wanted back in prison. Our next

:07:45. > :07:49.wanted face is 60-year-old Keith Turner. He served 19 years in prison

:07:50. > :07:54.for the manslaughter of his mother and sister and was released on

:07:55. > :07:59.licence. His licence was revoked. That was in the year 2000 and he is

:08:00. > :08:02.now on the round. This photo was taken around 20 years ago but police

:08:03. > :08:07.have produced this age progression image of what he may look like now.

:08:08. > :08:12.Originally from Newcastle, he is known to have connections across the

:08:13. > :08:19.UK, as well as to Spain, France and South Africa. Use a hazard had two

:08:20. > :08:28.with his name on the right forearm. Next -- he also has a tad too with

:08:29. > :08:33.his name on his right forearm. Higgins is around five tall and of

:08:34. > :08:40.stocky build. It is believed he has grown a full beard and has dyed his

:08:41. > :08:58.hair blond. He is linked with Essex and London. Next, was wanted --

:08:59. > :09:02.next, Karim Hama-Amin was wanted for a serious sexual assault. He often

:09:03. > :09:07.worked as a barber and has links to Morecambe, London, Sheffield and

:09:08. > :09:08.Manchester. If you recognise any of these faces, make sure you pick up

:09:09. > :09:12.the phone. Some network an mobile operators

:09:13. > :09:18.will charge for these calls. Text CW,

:09:19. > :09:21.space and then your message. Texts will be charged

:09:22. > :09:24.at your standard message rate. The police are always keen to make

:09:25. > :09:28.use of any special talents officers And those who never forget

:09:29. > :09:34.a face are no exception. Chief Inspector Gareth

:09:35. > :09:40.Davies is with me now. First of all,

:09:41. > :09:53.what is a super recogniser ? Within The Met, it is someone who

:09:54. > :10:03.has the ability to recognise a person 's face above a normal person

:10:04. > :10:08.'s ability. They can recognise them in a crowd. You have been tapping

:10:09. > :10:15.into that ability quite successfully. Yes, we have. At Earls

:10:16. > :10:21.Court, we have large-scale events. One event, we had over 120 mobile

:10:22. > :10:28.phone stolen by pickpockets in one night. We designed an operation

:10:29. > :10:34.using a super recogniser. The next big one was the Arctic monkeys gig.

:10:35. > :10:39.We had 20,000 people attending a night. We deployed them and they

:10:40. > :10:49.identified persons committing the crime. At that gig, we only had 12

:10:50. > :10:52.mobile phones stolen. There was only four at another one. The message to

:10:53. > :10:57.the pickpockets is beware because The Met bulletin police are out

:10:58. > :11:08.there using super recogniser is. -- the Metropolitan police. We do not

:11:09. > :11:16.believe you can learn this. It seems to be an innate capacity. They can

:11:17. > :11:19.absorb and learn new faces very quickly and distinguish between

:11:20. > :11:25.sometimes very highly similar individuals. I wish I had this

:11:26. > :11:32.ability. We cannot teach it. I do not know whether I have this

:11:33. > :11:35.ability. We have disguised these faces of very famous people by

:11:36. > :11:41.getting rid of the external features and the hairstyle to see if you can

:11:42. > :11:46.recognise them. I think it makes it a bit harder. You have to focus on

:11:47. > :11:49.the features. Give me some time. I will look at these faces. Get back

:11:50. > :11:51.to me later. Gold bullion and fake currency is

:11:52. > :11:54.not something we come usually across often on Roadshow,

:11:55. > :12:07.but this next crime combines both These two men are about to carry out

:12:08. > :12:11.a classic con, where hundreds of thousands of pounds. This is the

:12:12. > :12:15.kind of thing you would see in Hollywood. It is not something we

:12:16. > :12:23.would deal with day-to-day. It is a new level of fraud for us. It is not

:12:24. > :12:29.Vegas or a film set. This is a real scam that takes place in a real

:12:30. > :12:36.hotel in Central London. This is our first player. A conman who goes by

:12:37. > :12:43.the name of Stephan. Waiting for him is his target, a reputable gold

:12:44. > :12:47.bullion dealer. She is about to be drawn into a high-stakes scan. She

:12:48. > :12:49.has met with him on a number of occasions. He originally approached

:12:50. > :12:58.her as a legitimate customer and her as a legitimate customer and

:12:59. > :12:59.doing so, there is a level of trust. White tapping here is our

:13:00. > :13:09.next player. The victim has trust. White tapping here is our

:13:10. > :13:28.to trade 20 kilos of gold for hard cash. Stephan has introduced her to

:13:29. > :13:35.Alberto and the lady, she has -- he has said it is Alberto 's wife. The

:13:36. > :13:41.deal is split into two stages. Money will change hands at the hotel while

:13:42. > :13:46.the gold is being kept across town. Stephan had insisted he would only

:13:47. > :13:51.pay for the gold in cash. The victim agreed but has brought her own

:13:52. > :13:55.counting machine to make sure all the money is genuine. Alberto had

:13:56. > :13:57.refused to let anybody else into the room other than himself and the

:13:58. > :14:00.victim. She had also taken somebody room other than himself and the

:14:01. > :14:11.victim. She had also taken with her to act as a bit of security. There

:14:12. > :14:16.was only the two of them in the room when the exchange took place. The

:14:17. > :14:22.deal was worth more than ?600,000. The money is then sealed in plastic

:14:23. > :14:26.bags. When the counting is over, all the cash is transferred to a

:14:27. > :14:30.briefcase. Now that the payment is being made, the dealer makes

:14:31. > :14:37.arrangements to release the gold. Once the money had been exchanged,

:14:38. > :14:42.Alberto 's wife was to go to a separate venue to meet up with the

:14:43. > :14:45.big team 's brother. Only once there was proof the money had changed

:14:46. > :14:58.hands would he hand over the money in gold. This is what happened. The

:14:59. > :15:05.victim is oblivious to the scam. The fraudsters have the gold and have

:15:06. > :15:09.swung told her out the cash. -- swindled. When the victim got

:15:10. > :15:13.home, there was only the equivalent of ?200,000 and not half a million

:15:14. > :15:17.she was expecting to find. The dealer had fallen for an

:15:18. > :15:24.elaborate and well-planned hustle. How did they do it?

:15:25. > :15:32.Well, hours before the meeting took place, CCTV shows them setting the

:15:33. > :15:37.trap. They arrive with ?800,000 corruption under 800,000 genuine

:15:38. > :15:44.currencies macro and the same amount in false cash.

:15:45. > :15:50.We have CCTV footage inside the hotel, the bars, corridors,

:15:51. > :15:54.everywhere they went except the one room where the exchange took place.

:15:55. > :15:58.They were careful to find somewhere where we would not be able to see

:15:59. > :16:03.them actually making the switch. The victim is sure the cash is

:16:04. > :16:08.genuine. But between putting the money into bundles and placing it in

:16:09. > :16:14.the briefcase, it was stored in a sideboard. This is where she

:16:15. > :16:17.believes the switch took place. These are clearly very sophisticated

:16:18. > :16:21.criminals, people who know that trade and have been doing it for a

:16:22. > :16:26.long time. We need to stop them. They have got all of this gold,

:16:27. > :16:29.creating more money, getting bigger and better scams will stop it could

:16:30. > :16:33.spiral out of control. The fraudsters got away

:16:34. > :16:36.with over ?600,000. The victim must have

:16:37. > :16:51.been devastated. The victim was very well deceived.

:16:52. > :16:56.The suspects gained her confidence. She thought it was legitimate

:16:57. > :17:07.business. Tell us about the men, especially the ringleaders?

:17:08. > :17:10.The first one is called Stephan. About six years old. Slim build. He

:17:11. > :17:16.was wearing a light blue suit with a pink shirt, pink tie, Surrey, and a

:17:17. > :17:23.pink handkerchief in the pocket. The second man gave his name as Alberto.

:17:24. > :17:29.About 45 years old, five, quite stocky. Both men were eastern

:17:30. > :17:36.European, Mediterranean looking. You have brought along the money in

:17:37. > :17:39.a bag, fake euros, pretty weighty. You're covered these.

:17:40. > :17:43.That was the money handed over to the victim. They have been seized by

:17:44. > :17:53.the police. We have some gold here, two very

:17:54. > :17:57.pretty gold bars. Worth ?25,000 each. What has happened to the gold

:17:58. > :18:01.in this case? There is a possibility it has been

:18:02. > :18:03.melted down and is being used for other matters. All it could still be

:18:04. > :18:08.out there in bullion. Hard to believe that those

:18:09. > :18:16.fraudsters could be so brazen. These were taken from the Exhibitionist

:18:17. > :18:24.Gallery in Notting Hill in west London in the early hours of Monday

:18:25. > :18:27.9th December. The pieces are valued at more than ?33,000. They'd only

:18:28. > :18:47.been on display for four days when The theft was captured on CCTV.

:18:48. > :18:53.After breaking into the gallery, he removes the first picture. He

:18:54. > :18:57.started it in the front of his car. The second picture is bigger. It

:18:58. > :19:04.proves to be a little bit more problematic. You can see there, the

:19:05. > :19:09.deep end up stuffing it through the boot of the car, before eventually

:19:10. > :19:25.making his getaway. Police want to trace the vehicle he was driving.

:19:26. > :19:27.Now, this next thief has a real cheek.

:19:28. > :19:29.He managed to convince a pensioner to help him steal her

:19:30. > :19:53.I handed this picture to somebody I really did not know.

:19:54. > :19:57.I need not have done it. Saturday the 18th of January was an evening

:19:58. > :20:00.like no other four are similar, she was settling down for the night,

:20:01. > :20:08.catching up with some reading, when the phone rang.

:20:09. > :20:15.Well, he immediately said he was calling from the police station. And

:20:16. > :20:18.that they were holding to people in custody.

:20:19. > :20:21.The man on the phone told Cylla two people had been arrested are taking

:20:22. > :20:25.money from her bank account. He advised her to put down the phone

:20:26. > :20:30.and call the fraud department immediately. She had no idea she was

:20:31. > :20:35.about to fall victim to an elaborate fraud.

:20:36. > :20:41.And it did occur to me that it was quite strange. But, however, I just

:20:42. > :20:46.went on because I felt I simply had to give this my best attention.

:20:47. > :20:51.Cylla was on the phone for over two and a half hours. In that time,

:20:52. > :20:54.whilst she believed she had made two separate calls to her bag and

:20:55. > :21:00.insurance company, she was quizzed about other valuables in the house.

:21:01. > :21:06.I did in the end admit I had some quite nice pictures, and also, I

:21:07. > :21:10.mentioned jewellery. She also mentioned one painting in

:21:11. > :21:15.particular which had been in her family for generations. It was

:21:16. > :21:21.priceless to her. The man came up with a solution to keep it safe.

:21:22. > :21:25.Anyway, they said, we will send someone round from what they called

:21:26. > :21:31.the rapid response team. To collect the picture, and the jewellery and

:21:32. > :21:37.credit cards. Oh, hello, do come in.

:21:38. > :21:41.And the young man appeared, and I said, I can't get that picture down

:21:42. > :21:47.from the wall. He said, I will help you. So we got it down from the

:21:48. > :21:52.wall. And he said, I think we had better wrap it up. So I went and got

:21:53. > :22:01.an old bath towel and be wrapped it up together. And he took it away.

:22:02. > :22:07.And I gave him also my credit cards, and a little bag of jewellery

:22:08. > :22:10.which I kept partially hidden, in another room.

:22:11. > :22:15.But he wasn't from the rapid response team. She hadn't been

:22:16. > :22:20.speaking to her bank or insurance. She had in fact just been conned.

:22:21. > :22:24.When she picks up the phone, she thinks she is on the line to a

:22:25. > :22:29.police officer. He advises her what had happened. And advises her to

:22:30. > :22:34.call the NatWest fraud department. She puts down the phone, thinking

:22:35. > :22:39.she has disconnected the call but, actually, the suspects are still on

:22:40. > :22:42.the end of the line, the call is never disconnected.

:22:43. > :22:49.After a little while, I went to bed. It was then after midnight. And

:22:50. > :22:52.I suddenly thought, this is not right. And that is when I got up and

:22:53. > :22:59.phoned the police. She had handed

:23:00. > :23:04.phoned the police. painting worth a staggering

:23:05. > :23:10.?100,000. The artwork had hung in her family

:23:11. > :23:16.home for decades, but had also been displayed in exhibitions worldwide.

:23:17. > :23:24.It relates to my father and his family. And I felt it was, in a

:23:25. > :23:29.sense, entrusted to me. I want to get it back. And I shall see that it

:23:30. > :23:39.is in safe hands immediately it comes to me.

:23:40. > :23:45.I feel terribly guilty that I was responsible for something of worth.

:23:46. > :23:50.I don't mean monetary worth. But of value. And I have not looked after

:23:51. > :23:57.it properly. She has been really upset

:23:58. > :23:59.about the loss of that painting. DC Victoria L'Oste-Brown, who

:24:00. > :24:02.you saw in the film, is with me. Do you think she has much chance

:24:03. > :24:11.of getting it back? That is why we are here today. It is

:24:12. > :24:18.a distinctive painting as you can see from this copy. It is worth

:24:19. > :24:22.about ?100,000. It is a good copy, very handy for us to have for the

:24:23. > :24:27.purposes of this programme. You are hoping someone might have

:24:28. > :24:33.seen this man leaving the home. We told he left at 10:30pm.

:24:34. > :24:37.Described as white, 35, slight build, short, dark hair and a

:24:38. > :24:42.moustache. There is CCTV of a man using a

:24:43. > :24:46.cashpoint nearby. That is vital. As well as the

:24:47. > :24:51.painting, they have stolen her credit cards and debit cards and

:24:52. > :24:57.used one of those cards at the bank and still ?500.

:24:58. > :25:00.Let us talk about what we can do to protect our valuables.

:25:01. > :25:02.Detective Sergeant Claire Hutcheon's an expert on art and antiques

:25:03. > :25:05.Claire, a lot of people have heirlooms or

:25:06. > :25:13.How can we make sure we can get it back if it's stolen?

:25:14. > :25:19.Record the measurements and materials. Good quality photographs

:25:20. > :25:22.are essential. Take your photo in clear, natural light, with a plain

:25:23. > :25:29.background. Take more than one photo, take a picture of the whole,

:25:30. > :25:33.concentrate on signatures and other marks or descriptions. Look at the

:25:34. > :25:40.rear, are there stickers, more writing? Take photos.

:25:41. > :25:46.We have this phone, this is life, can you take a couple? I know it is

:25:47. > :25:54.not the best conditions. A photograph from the front. And from

:25:55. > :25:56.the side. The other tip is to make sure you keep documentation handy as

:25:57. > :25:58.well. A neighbour who put his own safety

:25:59. > :26:11.at risk. He pulled a knife on me. And, do you have a good memory

:26:12. > :26:14.for faces? Stay with us to find out whether

:26:15. > :26:18.you could be a super-recogniser. Dealing with the fallout from

:26:19. > :26:22.domestic violence is a significant and sometimes controversial part of

:26:23. > :26:30.the day-to-day work of the police. But, now, a groundbreaking unit in

:26:31. > :26:42.Greenwich is trying to prevent it One in every ten emergency calls is

:26:43. > :26:48.about domestic violence. Thousands face daily abuse.

:26:49. > :26:55.Every week in Britain, two women are killed by their partners.

:26:56. > :27:00.But a team of detectives in Greenwich are out to stop the

:27:01. > :27:04.attacks before they even happen. Grease paint and Tony Hannon are

:27:05. > :27:07.part of a ground-breaking domestic violence intervention unit which

:27:08. > :27:12.helps people escape from abusive relationships.

:27:13. > :27:16.They think they have to put up with the abuse because they don't realise

:27:17. > :27:20.what is happening for them. If you are at home and you think, I have

:27:21. > :27:26.nowhere to go, my children have nowhere to go, then you are going to

:27:27. > :27:32.put up with it. But we can help you. They have found, by working with the

:27:33. > :27:37.victims, they can drastically cut repeat domestic violence offences.

:27:38. > :27:40.With 2500 instances a year in Greenwich, the phone never stops

:27:41. > :27:47.ringing. When was the last incident? Wendy

:27:48. > :27:50.want this injunction? As soon as possible?

:27:51. > :27:56.They head to a shelter to check on one of their cases. When they get

:27:57. > :28:01.another call for help. We will come and move all your stuff

:28:02. > :28:04.in and help you. You haven't got to worry about getting on buses with

:28:05. > :28:12.your stuff and your baby. We will sort that out for you.

:28:13. > :28:16.Helping people move away from a violent partner is just one of the

:28:17. > :28:24.ways they have helped 300 victims over the past year.

:28:25. > :28:29.But the domestic violence team isn't only about keeping abusive couples

:28:30. > :28:34.apart. It keeps others together with a specialised counselling service.

:28:35. > :28:38.Has there been any change? Have you been kinder to one another?

:28:39. > :28:44.Definitely kinder. Mark and Amanda were the first to try the service

:28:45. > :28:48.which has been running since Easter. We used to punch each other, slap

:28:49. > :28:56.each other, I used to scratch him, kick him. And spit at him.

:28:57. > :29:04.These sessions have transformed their lives.

:29:05. > :29:09.It helps a lot. We don't argue indoors now. We won't talk until

:29:10. > :29:12.counselling and discuss it there and then and it is sorted.

:29:13. > :29:22.The scheme has been so successful the couple now plan to get married.

:29:23. > :29:26.Back on the road, they are off to check on another success story.

:29:27. > :29:31.We are going to visit one of the ladies we have been with recently.

:29:32. > :29:38.She has been having problems with her ex-partner. We recently helped

:29:39. > :29:40.to get a nonpolitician order. The woman who can't be named for legal

:29:41. > :30:00.reasons used to live in fear. if your partner has had a drink. You

:30:01. > :30:05.are standing there, nervous. You always have that worry on your mind.

:30:06. > :30:13.With police help, she has been able to get away from her partner. It has

:30:14. > :30:18.been brilliant. I have been to my solicitors and the courts.

:30:19. > :30:24.Previously I have not had the help. It gave me that bit more confidence.

:30:25. > :30:29.Now there is no way I would put myself in that situation because I

:30:30. > :30:38.have got my life back. Domestic violence is a tough crime to police

:30:39. > :30:44.will stop it takes its toll. You'll Asometimes you spend the whole day

:30:45. > :30:51.with a victory. -- sometimes you spend the whole day with a big Tim

:30:52. > :30:57.and it gets quite heavy. The best things with us, when do you spend

:30:58. > :30:59.the day with someone and they are happy, it is a bit of a cliche but

:31:00. > :31:07.it makes it all worthwhile. Some very important work there

:31:08. > :31:09.and there's a list of organisations on the Crimewatch

:31:10. > :31:12.website who can help if you yourself Today we're talking

:31:13. > :31:16.about police who try to stop crimes And there's one group

:31:17. > :31:19.of officers who go to extreme lengths - or should I say heights -

:31:20. > :31:43.to make sure big events The Olympic Park has let

:31:44. > :31:51.this structure. Why do you need a rope team? It makes sure that

:31:52. > :31:55.buildings are safe prior to big events. There is a lot

:31:56. > :32:00.buildings are safe prior to big work going on here at the moment.

:32:01. > :32:07.Important evidentially as well. Historically, why was it setup? It

:32:08. > :32:11.was set up when the IRA were operating in the UK. There were

:32:12. > :32:21.concerns about in century devices on bridges. Last year we had that awful

:32:22. > :32:23.helicopter crash and they were involved in that operation. They

:32:24. > :32:29.were putting together pieces of evidence to make sure the

:32:30. > :32:35.investigation could take place. Do they all have to be good climbers?

:32:36. > :32:42.They are marine officers and they are trained to climb. We hope to

:32:43. > :32:46.have a chat with Pete, one of the officers at the moment. You have

:32:47. > :32:51.been going up and down a few times this morning. It is fantastic to

:32:52. > :32:58.watch. Thank you. You must have done this all over the place. What is

:32:59. > :33:01.your favourite? We are very privileged. My favourite is

:33:02. > :33:06.Westminster Abbey or the Palace of Westminster, just because of the

:33:07. > :33:10.history and that sort of thing. You have to be so careful because any

:33:11. > :33:16.evidence you find is absolutely crucial. Absolutely. It is the same

:33:17. > :33:19.job as if you are on the ground that it is more, located. Slightly more

:33:20. > :33:32.complicated and you need a good head in their home, making off with ten

:33:33. > :33:41.grand's worth of jewellery. I have never heard anything quite

:33:42. > :33:52.like it. Not even the movies could portray a scream like that. It must

:33:53. > :33:54.have been a terrifying experience. This businessman was spending the

:33:55. > :34:02.afternoon at home with his family when the door bell rang. His wife

:34:03. > :34:08.answered. When the man asked for an unfamiliar name, she assumed he must

:34:09. > :34:15.have made a mistake. She said no one here. I said, sorry, the wrong

:34:16. > :34:26.address. 15 minutes later, he returned. This time with a mate. He

:34:27. > :34:31.said, sorry, someone has called for electric work in your house. I

:34:32. > :34:38.said, no one has called. He said, I have to come and fix the electric

:34:39. > :34:44.work. I refused again. He was completely unprepared for what

:34:45. > :34:48.happened next. At that point, he was brutally attacked. He was punched,

:34:49. > :34:57.pushed and forced back inside the premises. It was shocking. I do not

:34:58. > :35:03.know why he came and punched me. Totally I am confused. The second

:35:04. > :35:07.suspect had made his way upstairs and had started to search the

:35:08. > :35:23.premises. He had found jewellery, gold jewellery. Downstairs, he tried

:35:24. > :35:27.to fight back. I could not see any weapon or anything. I thought I

:35:28. > :35:34.could fight with him. I did not have any other way. Then I punched him

:35:35. > :35:41.passed a message to my wife to run away. The other rubber chased her

:35:42. > :35:46.into the garden. Her screams immediately alerted their neighbour

:35:47. > :35:53.to the month -- the nightmare unfolding next door. The hairs on

:35:54. > :35:58.the back of my neck stood up. I knew something serious was going on. He

:35:59. > :36:06.had her pinned up against the wall. I think he was trying to rip off her

:36:07. > :36:14.necklace. He leapt over the fence to confront the violent attacker. The

:36:15. > :36:22.robber made his way down the road with the neighbour in hot suit. I

:36:23. > :36:27.got about 50 metres down the road and he stopped and pulled a knife on

:36:28. > :36:44.me. At that point, I thought, let him go. As he got back to the house,

:36:45. > :36:52.the other rubber pushed Sassi into the garden. He had been badly beaten

:36:53. > :36:58.and his attackers had got away with nearly ?10,000 worth of gold

:36:59. > :37:02.jewellery. This is a callous and clearly unprovoked attack. This must

:37:03. > :37:08.have been an absolutely terrifying experience. This kind of thing does

:37:09. > :37:10.not go on here. No one could believe what happened. It is shocking,

:37:11. > :37:18.absolutely shocking. What do you know

:37:19. > :37:34.about the people who did it? The first thing is the top with

:37:35. > :37:38.goggles fitted into the herd. The first suspect was wearing

:37:39. > :37:48.goggles fitted into the herd. The different, a sweatshirt material. A

:37:49. > :37:55.pretty frightening outfit. There is some CCTV that could help. We have

:37:56. > :37:59.footage of a suspect fleeing the scene over neighbouring gardens.

:38:00. > :38:07.Anybody who would have seen someone running around, you want to hear

:38:08. > :38:16.from them. It is quite distinctive. Hopefully you would recognise them.

:38:17. > :38:25.What about the car? We are looking for a loo Audi which was seen

:38:26. > :38:29.driving at speed at the time. -- blue.

:38:30. > :38:32.Now today we've been looking at how the police are able to spot

:38:33. > :38:35.faces in a crowd and DC Kezia Khan from Lancashire Constabulary would

:38:36. > :38:37.like your help in identifying some football hooligans

:38:38. > :38:49.Welcome. Tell me about this case you are looking at. Following the

:38:50. > :38:55.Burnley, Sheffield Wednesday fixture at Burnley' at home ground, some of

:38:56. > :39:03.the fans went to the Burnley miners club for some drinks. Shortly after

:39:04. > :39:07.6pm, a disturbance broke out. The violence spread and there were 60

:39:08. > :39:14.people fighting in the Fourier. That is massive disorder. There were lots

:39:15. > :39:19.of women, children, normal people having a drink and enjoying

:39:20. > :39:23.themselves. This must have been absolutely terrifying. Absolutely.

:39:24. > :39:28.There were women, children, people with disabilities. They have

:39:29. > :39:32.witnessed people sustaining injuries and damage to property. Lets have a

:39:33. > :39:37.look at five people who have been caught on CCTV. These are five

:39:38. > :39:45.people that you really do want to identify. I urge people to have a

:39:46. > :39:50.look. They will recognise them. We have to say football violence, there

:39:51. > :39:57.is no place for it for whatsoever. You will come down on them. These

:39:58. > :40:00.people know who they are. The public know who they are. Thank you for

:40:01. > :40:04.joining us. Well, if you think you know who

:40:05. > :40:07.these five are then get in touch Or you can call Crimestoppers

:40:08. > :40:13.anonymously on 0800 555 111. Now, earlier in the programme, we

:40:14. > :40:16.heard about how police officers with a very good knack of recognising

:40:17. > :40:19.people had been working to cut crime One of those super-recognisers is

:40:20. > :40:33.PC Dale Nufer. That is what they say. When did you

:40:34. > :40:41.realise you had the talent? I did not. I was told I was getting a lot

:40:42. > :40:46.of hits with recognition. Is that good at remembering names and faces?

:40:47. > :40:54.No, I am just good at remembering faces. Once it is committed to

:40:55. > :40:59.memory, I do not tend to forget it. If it is a nasty crime, I will never

:41:00. > :41:05.forget them. I do not remember all the faces. It sticks in my head. I

:41:06. > :41:11.do not know why. You have had success. Tell me how it has been

:41:12. > :41:16.working in practice? Better than people expected. I will find a crime

:41:17. > :41:21.being committed and I will see it again on CCTV. The same person

:41:22. > :41:28.another crime and I will build that up. Eventually I will have ten

:41:29. > :41:34.crimes committed by one person. Instead of being on trial for one

:41:35. > :41:44.defence, it is all of them. I know it is having a big impact with the

:41:45. > :41:50.Metropolitan police. Earlier, I was set a test. I have not had much time

:41:51. > :41:56.to study it. It is difficult without the hair and just a phase. I think

:41:57. > :42:01.that is Billy Connelly. He is very, very well-known. I guess I should

:42:02. > :42:08.known that. The one with the freckles is a bit more tricky.

:42:09. > :42:15.Prince Harry? Well done. Well done. This one, Oprah Winfrey. I am not

:42:16. > :42:29.sure of that one on the end. I am not a super recogniser. Please tell

:42:30. > :42:32.us they are following up a very strong lead as a result of your

:42:33. > :42:38.information. Lots have offered to help after the charity was broken

:42:39. > :42:41.into in Northumbria. ?7,000 worth of equipment stolen and people offering

:42:42. > :42:50.to replace it. One man has offered to replace everything stolen.

:42:51. > :42:54.Tomorrow we are heading to the heart of the London Docklands where we

:42:55. > :42:59.will be following police divers as they cracked down on gang crime. I

:43:00. > :43:04.am preparing to get my feet a little bit wet. If you want to test out

:43:05. > :43:08.your super recogniser skills, take another look at the CCTV on the

:43:09. > :43:12.website. Finally believe you at another look at today's wanted

:43:13. > :43:14.faces. Somebody knows where these people are. If you do then call us.

:43:15. > :43:18.Thank you for watching. Take care.
