:00:00. > :00:17.Today we are at Guildhall Yard, and will be having a get-together. It's

:00:18. > :00:23.been a terrible few weeks in Manchester and London so on the

:00:24. > :00:26.anniversary of MP Jo Cox's death, we're bringing the emergency

:00:27. > :00:31.services together with the community who have done so much to help.

:00:32. > :00:33.Thousands of pounds raised for charity stolen

:00:34. > :00:40.It dawned that maybe the person who'd

:00:41. > :00:42.brushed against me, maybe she had stolen it.

:00:43. > :00:44.And how your calls to this programme landed two vicious

:00:45. > :00:50.we started to have names coming through.

:00:51. > :01:14.Hello and welcome to Crimewatch Roadshow.

:01:15. > :01:17.As always, we need your help to solve the crimes

:01:18. > :01:28.The depraved bus passenger assaulting woman across the capital.

:01:29. > :01:30.I couldn't stop shaking, even when I left the bus.

:01:31. > :01:37.And the hero cops putting their lives on the line

:01:38. > :01:42.That's why I joined the job, to help people.

:01:43. > :01:44.Today we're coming live from Guildhall Yard,

:01:45. > :01:55.Rav, it's been a hard few weeks for Londoners,

:01:56. > :01:58.but today I'm going to be with some of the people who've stood together

:01:59. > :02:02.They've shown strength and resilience and today we're

:02:03. > :02:05.having a bit of a get together to celebrate all that's

:02:06. > :02:08.wonderful about this great city and its people.

:02:09. > :02:12.It's certainly a time to come together.

:02:13. > :02:15.But before that we have our first appeal of the day.

:02:16. > :02:17.The hunt for a light fingered pickpocket who took thousands

:02:18. > :02:36.The Southwick Christian Community Church is a vibrant part of life in

:02:37. > :02:40.this village. The Reverend Linda is a much loved leader of the

:02:41. > :02:45.congregation. As a church in a small community, we do a lot in the local

:02:46. > :02:50.area with not just spiritual activities but education and

:02:51. > :02:55.recreation. It's difficult work sometimes but I really enjoy it.

:02:56. > :02:59.Linda is also the director of a charity which supports aid efforts

:03:00. > :03:06.in Zimbabwe. I've been over there many times over the years, teaching

:03:07. > :03:13.and encouraging. And so we then form a charity. We have sought to raise

:03:14. > :03:17.funds to support the work out there. I think for me, probably over the

:03:18. > :03:22.years of going there, particularly with the people I've met there, got

:03:23. > :03:25.to know them, they have become like an extended family and in a time

:03:26. > :03:31.when the country's going through terrible hardship and crisis, I feel

:03:32. > :03:37.the pain of that. We do what we can to support their work so their lives

:03:38. > :03:42.are just little bit better. Linda and her fundraising team managed to

:03:43. > :03:46.raise over ?7,000 for a project growing maize in a specially to

:03:47. > :03:53.school. But sadly that money never made it to Zimbabwe. In order to get

:03:54. > :04:02.the money to the charity, it first had to be changed from pounds into

:04:03. > :04:05.dollars, the currency used in Zimbabwe so Linda took the money to

:04:06. > :04:09.her local supermarket to make the exchange. Normally we do bank to

:04:10. > :04:14.bank transfers but that wasn't possible because the banking system

:04:15. > :04:19.in Zimbabwe has collapsed. I went to Sainsbury's in West Hove, about 3pm,

:04:20. > :04:30.to pick up the money I'd ordered online and pay for it. She exchanged

:04:31. > :04:34.?7,000 for $9,000. I had my handbag, and I had a white carrier bag with

:04:35. > :04:39.me, I didn't shopping in. And I thought, that's the place to put it.

:04:40. > :04:42.I had a conscious thought, I'll put it in there because it would look

:04:43. > :04:46.conspicuous, no one will think that you got money in your carrier bag.

:04:47. > :04:53.She made her way to the exit, the money in her bag. A fairly youngish

:04:54. > :04:58.woman brushed against me, and I didn't think anything of it.

:04:59. > :05:03.Thinking the money was safe in her bag, she headed home. I had a cup of

:05:04. > :05:08.tea, as you do, check my e-mails, and a little while later, I thought,

:05:09. > :05:15.I must get that money out now. When I went to my carrier bag...

:05:16. > :05:22.It must be somewhere, it must be in my car or it must be on the floor.

:05:23. > :05:27.And it really didn't dawn on me till about ten minutes later then, the

:05:28. > :05:34.person who brushed against me, maybe she had stolen it. She was right.

:05:35. > :05:39.CCTV shows Linda being targeted as she left the store. Without her even

:05:40. > :05:45.noticing. Almost all of the charity money had been stolen from her bag.

:05:46. > :05:48.We do have people who are opportunistic thieves, there are

:05:49. > :05:51.people out there who see this as their jobs. They are career thieves

:05:52. > :05:58.and they will do this professionally. In particular, we

:05:59. > :06:03.want to identify the lady in the hat that was seen with her hand in the

:06:04. > :06:08.Reverend's bag. We suspect that the lady with the dark air is an

:06:09. > :06:13.accomplice. However she could potentially be a witness. She was

:06:14. > :06:20.seen to enter the shop at a similar time to the main suspect and also

:06:21. > :06:24.lead in company with her. For Linda and her community fundraisers,

:06:25. > :06:26.losing money destined for money in Africa has been heartbreaking. All

:06:27. > :06:34.thoughts of things go through your mind. And particularly hindsight and

:06:35. > :06:40.regret, how could you have been so stupid? And also, your own sense of

:06:41. > :06:44.guilt and shame of it, and having to admit it to other people. Those are

:06:45. > :06:48.all difficult emotions to cope with. I think it would be really great if

:06:49. > :06:53.we could identify the person responsible in this instance, and

:06:54. > :06:58.bring them to justice, to provide some closure for the community. And

:06:59. > :07:01.I think one of the most difficult things was the real sense of

:07:02. > :07:03.injustice and sadness about it all. With me now is Inspector Steve Hill

:07:04. > :07:09.from Sussex Police. Now, there is good CCTV

:07:10. > :07:13.of the person responsible for this? Yes, there is CCTV of a woman

:07:14. > :07:18.entering the Sainsbury's in West Hove and later we can see

:07:19. > :07:29.she has her hand in the reverend's And there's another woman you are

:07:30. > :07:35.keen to speak to that you have identified? Yes, the lady standing

:07:36. > :07:42.behind her when she did this come up with the dark air, we're confident

:07:43. > :07:45.from reviewing the CCTV that these two are working together and they

:07:46. > :07:48.have gone to the store to target somebody for a theft. This was a

:07:49. > :07:53.substantial amount of money intended for a good cause. It was, it was

:07:54. > :07:57.?7,500 raised through various fundraising efforts and donations,

:07:58. > :08:01.Linda had gone to change it into US dollars to take to the charity

:08:02. > :08:04.mission in Zimbabwe. Thankfully, there are some good news, the

:08:05. > :08:09.community in Zimbabwe actually got the money destined for them? They

:08:10. > :08:13.did, but that was only thanks to the generosity of the public. When we

:08:14. > :08:17.initially released the images and the footage to the media, that was

:08:18. > :08:22.picked up on, donations came in and we have added some money to that

:08:23. > :08:26.from the police property fund. It in no way detracts from the outrageous

:08:27. > :08:29.nature of this theft and its likely these people would go on to commit

:08:30. > :08:31.it again. It's been sad for Linda, thank you so much.

:08:32. > :08:36.If you can name either of those two women, we'd love to hear from you.

:08:37. > :08:38.Get in touch using the numbers on screen.

:08:39. > :08:41.More incidents caught on camera now in today's CCTV round-up.

:08:42. > :08:52.And just so you know, the first one is pretty nasty.

:08:53. > :08:59.It's a Saturday night, and these lads are outside waiting. One of the

:09:00. > :09:08.group breaks away and heads towards smoking area. He has no idea what's

:09:09. > :09:12.about to happen. The attacker runs off, having knocked the victim out

:09:13. > :09:17.cold, leaving him with a fractured jaw. The victim couldn't work for

:09:18. > :09:21.six weeks in the run-up to Christmas. Police needs to find the

:09:22. > :09:26.man responsible. You know what to do.

:09:27. > :09:35.This one isn't subtle, as you can see. A rail depot in central London

:09:36. > :09:42.and this man is using a novel way to get inside. After struggling with a

:09:43. > :09:49.hammer, he resorts to brute force and uses a sledgehammer instead.

:09:50. > :09:55.Once he is in, he wreaks havoc, and causes extensive damage to the

:09:56. > :09:59.toilets, doors and appliances. But he's not finished yet. Next he

:10:00. > :10:04.climbed over the roof to another compound. Here he breaks into one of

:10:05. > :10:05.the vans. I'm not sure if he's passed his driving test, though.

:10:06. > :10:16.Watch as he tries to get out. He eventually smashes through the

:10:17. > :10:22.gates, before continuing his wrecking spree and ramming another

:10:23. > :10:26.set of gates. It might seem comical, but more than ?30,000 worth of

:10:27. > :10:28.damage was caused. Who is this hapless vandal? Someone must

:10:29. > :10:34.recognise him. If you know the name

:10:35. > :10:36.of anyone you've just seen, We're ready to take

:10:37. > :10:42.your calls right now. Text CW, space and

:10:43. > :10:46.then your message. Texts will be charged

:10:47. > :10:52.at your standard message rate. As you can see we're having a bit

:10:53. > :11:01.of a get together here today This weekend, up and down

:11:02. > :11:05.the country, people are having picnics and barbeques

:11:06. > :11:08.and garden parties. With me to explain why is the MP

:11:09. > :11:25.for Lewisham, Vicky Foxcroft. It was a year ago today that your

:11:26. > :11:29.friend and colleague Jo Cox was sadly murdered. Just explain to me

:11:30. > :11:38.the importance of this campaign. What we want to make sure that we do

:11:39. > :11:41.is celebrate her life. Southwick -- Jo was a lovely bubbly person who

:11:42. > :11:45.really wanted to bring people together. As she said in her maiden

:11:46. > :11:50.speech in Parliament, we have got more in common than that which

:11:51. > :11:54.divide us. It's very much about celebrating Jo's life rather than

:11:55. > :11:59.focusing on her death. It's such a positive message. What kind of

:12:00. > :12:02.things are happening? It's a positive message that all of her

:12:03. > :12:06.family and friends have wanted to promote. One of the things that we

:12:07. > :12:12.are doing locally in Deptford and the whole of Lewisham is having a

:12:13. > :12:16.float your boat party, people can come along and build their own

:12:17. > :12:20.boats, and they will float them in the river in Lewisham and that

:12:21. > :12:24.floats into the Thames. The Thames is really important and that's where

:12:25. > :12:29.Jo went and lived with her family, on a boat on the Thames. Now more

:12:30. > :12:32.than ever. With everything that's happening with the London terror

:12:33. > :12:36.attacks and the attack in Manchester, it's so important for us

:12:37. > :12:41.to be all coming together. And as you said, not be divided. That's

:12:42. > :12:47.exactly what all of these events, there is something like 1000 events

:12:48. > :12:49.across the country organised, and it's about celebrating everything

:12:50. > :12:55.that brings us together and not allowing terrorists attacks or

:12:56. > :13:00.anything to divide our communities. It's reinforcing that message, the

:13:01. > :13:06.sense of community spirit, cohesion, that's what everyone here is doing.

:13:07. > :13:09.Everyone here is a part of that. In Lewisham, in my constituency, we

:13:10. > :13:12.love to celebrate the sense of community and across the country we

:13:13. > :13:17.do, and it important that people come together and do that in

:13:18. > :13:21.whatever way they do it, be it a street party, or floating your boat

:13:22. > :13:26.down the Thames, or a disco, but managing to bring us all together to

:13:27. > :13:30.celebrate everything that unites our communities. Thank you so much for

:13:31. > :13:33.joining us. You will stick around for the whole of the programme. We

:13:34. > :13:34.will be speaking to more of these people gathered around here later

:13:35. > :13:36.on. Every day we appeal for your

:13:37. > :13:39.help to solve cases and in our very first programme of last year's

:13:40. > :13:42.series we asked you to name the brutal gunmen who posed

:13:43. > :13:44.as delivery men to get Well, I'm delighted to say

:13:45. > :13:49.the information you gave helped If come in with a hammer, and a

:13:50. > :14:18.knife, I think. Joanne and her husband Steve had

:14:19. > :14:24.been happily married for 23 years. They lived in Feltham, West London,

:14:25. > :14:28.with their two children. And for Joanne, home and family whatever

:14:29. > :14:35.thing. Just a lovely woman. She's always been a housewife since she's

:14:36. > :14:42.been with me. All of my children, best twice in the world. In April

:14:43. > :14:49.last year, Joanne was home alone. I went to the front window, peep

:14:50. > :14:55.through, and I saw a man in a yellow hi vision test and I called out, who

:14:56. > :14:57.is it? He said, the livery. I stopped for a minute and then he

:14:58. > :15:03.knocked again. I opened the door, and his foot went

:15:04. > :15:22.in. Big mistake. Once in the house, the men pushed

:15:23. > :15:26.John ran to the floor. My head is being taped, tape around my mouth,

:15:27. > :15:32.my hands. The first one put his hand around my neck and started to

:15:33. > :15:39.strangle me. And then as the second man went up the steps, I saw the

:15:40. > :15:46.hammer in his hand. He kicked me on the head. He hit me again on the

:15:47. > :15:50.other side of the head. With his foot, and kicked me in the forehead.

:15:51. > :16:00.It quickly became clear what the men were after. I told him where the

:16:01. > :16:07.safe was. He couldn't open it, so I had to go and open it. Once the safe

:16:08. > :16:12.was opened, the men took the ?27,000 from inside. But things didn't end

:16:13. > :16:19.there. I said, I'm dying, I think I'm dying. They put duct tape around

:16:20. > :16:28.my ankles and got what I thought to be a gun to my neck and said, if I

:16:29. > :16:40.tell the police, he's coming back for me. With that, they were gone.

:16:41. > :16:42.From the minute the ambulance passed the court was we realise this is one

:16:43. > :16:47.of the most serious types of crime we deal with, home invasion with

:16:48. > :16:51.weapons used, firearms mentioned, we take things seriously from very

:16:52. > :16:54.early on. Within the first hour, contacting neighbours, doing sweeps

:16:55. > :16:57.of the area, trying to establish any way we can find these people

:16:58. > :17:01.immediately because it is the golden hour, that first hour, so much

:17:02. > :17:09.information comes at you and you have the best chance of getting key

:17:10. > :17:11.evidence to secure convictions. It wasn't long before DS Dickson Leach

:17:12. > :17:16.and his team made their first breakthrough. That footage of the

:17:17. > :17:21.suspect was in police possession within 12 hours. A neighbour's CCTV

:17:22. > :17:27.camera caught two men scoping out the area, one wearing a UPS uniform

:17:28. > :17:30.and carrying a parcel. We knew how they had done what they had done but

:17:31. > :17:37.what we didn't know was who they were. After the initial

:17:38. > :17:41.breakthrough, weeks passed and DS Dickson Leach and his team scoured

:17:42. > :17:48.mugshot after mugshot but no-one recognised these men, so they to

:17:49. > :17:52.Crimewatch road show. As soon as the show went out, we

:17:53. > :17:59.started to get information coming in. We had names put forward to us

:18:00. > :18:03.within the first two days. With pressure mounting, and man handed

:18:04. > :18:09.himself in but refused to give the identity of his accomplished.

:18:10. > :18:14.Crucially, viewers stepped in and anonymous calls came through with

:18:15. > :18:21.names of the second man. The final piece of the jigsaw? Gaffer tape.

:18:22. > :18:24.The key identifier for the accomplice was the fact that his DNA

:18:25. > :18:34.came back from the gaffer tape he used to tie up the victim. Finally,

:18:35. > :18:38.they had got them. They both can be pleaded guilty and were convicted of

:18:39. > :18:43.robbery, possession of an imitation firearm, and possession of an

:18:44. > :18:47.offensive weapon in a public place. I think this pair have never

:18:48. > :18:50.committed a crime we are aware of to this level before, this appeared to

:18:51. > :18:53.be very much an escalation for them. They were willing to do it, they

:18:54. > :18:57.would do it again. With the injury she suffered with a hammer blow to

:18:58. > :19:01.the head, the knife, the firearm, she could have died. This could

:19:02. > :19:08.easily be a murder. They left her tied up. I'm very glad both of them

:19:09. > :19:11.have been put away for over 12 years, which has been a really

:19:12. > :19:15.excellent result for us, they will be away for over a decade.

:19:16. > :19:18.Brilliant work, thank you so much for those crucial calls.

:19:19. > :19:21.Right, lots more to come this morning, including how to protect

:19:22. > :19:26.yourself from online holiday booking scams.

:19:27. > :19:29.And can you make it the end of the line for this man,

:19:30. > :19:35.I just think I froze and I didn't really know what to do.

:19:36. > :19:42.But first, we need your help to identify

:19:43. > :19:47.another man who has been targeting women.

:19:48. > :19:49.In this case, when they are out walking on their own

:19:50. > :19:52.With me now is Detective Inspector Paul Ridley

:19:53. > :20:01.Tell us about the case. The attack took place on the 10th of May just

:20:02. > :20:07.after midnight, and Lady had been out in Hackney, in Dalston. She

:20:08. > :20:11.entered Scriven Street and, as you can see on the map, as she was

:20:12. > :20:15.walking along she felt the presence of a male behind her. She was on her

:20:16. > :20:20.phone and the male rugby tackled her to the ground with such force that

:20:21. > :20:26.her telephone broke. He then made off northbound. We have got some

:20:27. > :20:29.great CCTV of the person. The first camera, you can see the assailant

:20:30. > :20:34.walking, following her. It then moves into the second camera which

:20:35. > :20:39.motion detectors and zooms in and you can clearly see the image of the

:20:40. > :20:43.offender there. What is so chilling is this is just seconds before the

:20:44. > :20:50.attack took place. You have got a good description of him? He is a

:20:51. > :20:54.male, late teens to mid 20s, five foot six five foot ten, he is

:20:55. > :20:57.wearing a Nikkei hooded top and what is distinctive about that is the

:20:58. > :21:04.sleeve a vertical stripe running from shoulder to hand. Unfortunately

:21:05. > :21:09.you believe this is linked to another very serious attack? Two

:21:10. > :21:16.days later on the 12th of May, the same circumstances, and lady out in

:21:17. > :21:20.Dalston was followed and approached from behind, she hears footsteps and

:21:21. > :21:24.he tackles her to the ground. She screams and he makes from the scene

:21:25. > :21:29.again. We can see another image here of how close these two areas are,

:21:30. > :21:33.and you believe the offender may well be hanging around? We have

:21:34. > :21:37.spoken to a behavioural profiler who tells us the man is likely to be

:21:38. > :21:40.loitering around that area and may have followed all the women as well

:21:41. > :21:45.previously, so if that is the case and you have been followed by this

:21:46. > :21:50.man, please come forward to our investigation team. There is a

:21:51. > :21:53.reward? Crimestoppers have put forward a ?10,000 reward which shows

:21:54. > :21:57.the magnitude of the case and how seriously we are taking it, leading

:21:58. > :22:01.to the arrest and conviction of this man. Have a look at the image, it is

:22:02. > :22:07.very, very clear. Thank you for joining us. If you recognise him or

:22:08. > :22:11.have any information that might help the police, please do get in touch

:22:12. > :22:19.using the number on the screen, or you can call Crimestoppers.

:22:20. > :22:21.It's the time of year when many of us are thinking

:22:22. > :22:28.But holiday fraud is on the rise for the fifth year running,

:22:29. > :22:30.with thousands of people falling victim to scams.

:22:31. > :22:33.Here to tell us about some of them is DI Mick Dodge

:22:34. > :22:46.It is a big problem? Yes, a growing problem, last year ?7.2 million was

:22:47. > :22:51.lost holiday fraud over 6000 reports received, it is a crime that keeps

:22:52. > :22:55.on growing. It is a crime fuelled by more and more people booking online?

:22:56. > :23:04.Three quarters of us book online now. People use that opportunity to

:23:05. > :23:08.exploit it, fake websites, fake social media profiles, unsolicited

:23:09. > :23:11.e-mails to con you out of money. It is interesting seeing the different

:23:12. > :23:15.scams that are out there, we can hear now from a lady called Gemma

:23:16. > :23:21.Woolley from Bridgend who was another victim of a holiday scam. I

:23:22. > :23:27.had a response to say that the dates were unavailable to start with and

:23:28. > :23:33.then within 45 minutes I had another e-mail to say, please ignore the

:23:34. > :23:37.last e-mail, I had the dates mixed up, we are actually available, so I

:23:38. > :23:41.just quickly glanced at it, I was ecstatic that it was still

:23:42. > :23:45.available. Text did everyone, yes, quick, but it now, had a phone call

:23:46. > :23:49.back to say she didn't know what I was talking about and she

:23:50. > :23:57.immediately said to me, you have been scammed. You can imagine,

:23:58. > :24:00.devastated at that point. That is just terrible, Gemma went

:24:01. > :24:06.through a reputable site but the scammers hacked into the owner, the

:24:07. > :24:10.property owner's e-mails. How can we better protect ourselves from things

:24:11. > :24:13.like that? Some of the scams can be complicated but there is simple

:24:14. > :24:19.advice to protect yourself, things like making sure the website you are

:24:20. > :24:23.using is reputable, is it registered with an organisation like ABTA, if

:24:24. > :24:27.you are booking online stay within the payment mechanism on the website

:24:28. > :24:31.using a credit or debit card, don't pay by bank transfer because usually

:24:32. > :24:37.lose all protection. When you make a payment, look for the padlock in the

:24:38. > :24:40.top left-hand corner of the Internet bar, that tells you it is a secure

:24:41. > :24:44.transaction. And there is more information on the

:24:45. > :24:46.Action Fraud website, so make sure you head there as well.

:24:47. > :24:49.Earlier we asked for your help to find a man attacking women

:24:50. > :24:52.Well, unfortunately we now need you to identify another man,

:24:53. > :24:58.this time targeting victims on London's buses.

:24:59. > :25:12.Between 20 and 30, Middle Eastern, dark hair. He just kept staring at

:25:13. > :25:19.me and touching himself. I felt like I froze. Didn't really know what to

:25:20. > :25:25.do. Police started receiving reports in

:25:26. > :25:28.March last year, a man was indiscriminately assaulting women on

:25:29. > :25:36.London buses. He has never been caught. I was going to a meeting, I

:25:37. > :25:42.was always rushing around from one part of London to another part. A

:25:43. > :25:47.few stops after I got on, and man got on and sat next to me, he was

:25:48. > :25:52.really close. His behaviour made the woman feel anxious. I thought he was

:25:53. > :25:56.going to try and block me at first because I had my work phone,

:25:57. > :26:00.personal phone, laptop and everything. But then his legs

:26:01. > :26:05.started to touch hers. I had a dress on, it was just horrible. I think if

:26:06. > :26:10.I had trousers on it wouldn't have felt so... It was just not very

:26:11. > :26:17.nice. He put his leg up, blocking her in, and moved even closer. I

:26:18. > :26:21.think if I had moved, -- moved my face, we would have touched faces.

:26:22. > :26:26.The man had started touching himself. I was thinking, should I go

:26:27. > :26:30.to the bus driver? I didn't know what to do. Scared and worried about

:26:31. > :26:35.what would happen next, she made a break for it. She pushed past him

:26:36. > :26:40.and quickly left the bus. And then he just kept staring at me and

:26:41. > :26:47.touching himself. It was just not nice. When I got off of the bus, he

:26:48. > :26:53.carried on staring at me from the window. I think I felt like I froze

:26:54. > :26:59.and didn't really know what to do. It wasn't an accident, he wasn't

:27:00. > :27:05.embarrassed, he wasn't ashamed. In September, the attacker struck

:27:06. > :27:11.again. This time targeting the woman who had got on the 226 bus with her

:27:12. > :27:15.children. I'm a single mum, I use public transport every day. Taking

:27:16. > :27:22.the kids to school, work, shopping, everything. I was with my kids, I

:27:23. > :27:27.didn't think I was formidable. Just minutes into her journey, the

:27:28. > :27:29.offender sat down next to her. At first I thought he was trying to

:27:30. > :27:33.look at what I was doing on my phone but his face was really close to my

:27:34. > :27:38.face and I realised he was staring at me. I felt really uncomfortable.

:27:39. > :27:42.Just grabbing onto my pipe. Then I would look at him and he would stop

:27:43. > :27:51.and move his hand, and then he would do it again as soon as I went back

:27:52. > :27:54.onto my phone. I didn't react, I was shocked, I thought, is this real, or

:27:55. > :27:59.am I dreaming? It took a while when he was doing it for me to respond,

:28:00. > :28:06.thinking I had to be careful how to respond, I can't scare my kids. My

:28:07. > :28:13.gosh, I was shaking the whole time. It sounds ridiculous, but I was on

:28:14. > :28:17.my phone and I couldn't move. He put his whole hand on my thigh and tried

:28:18. > :28:23.to grab. I turned to him and I said, I know what you are doing, don't

:28:24. > :28:26.touch me. He just kept struggling. After he was confronted, the

:28:27. > :28:32.attacker got up and stayed standing on the bus. With shaking hands, the

:28:33. > :28:38.woman held up her mobile phone and took a photo. I wanted him to know

:28:39. > :28:48.that I did it, because I wasn't scared, I just felt violated. The

:28:49. > :28:52.attacker left the bus. Even after he got off the bus, I was shaking for

:28:53. > :29:00.hours afterwards. I didn't cry, I was just so angry. I think this man

:29:01. > :29:03.is getting on the bus and his sole purpose for riding on the bus is to

:29:04. > :29:07.commit these offences, I don't believe he's making any legitimate

:29:08. > :29:10.journey. Public transport is for anybody and you should be able to

:29:11. > :29:14.get on without any fear of anything bad happening to you so that is why

:29:15. > :29:18.it is important that this man is caught and brought to justice. Some

:29:19. > :29:26.people have said, oh, I wouldn't have reported it because it wasn't

:29:27. > :29:32.that bad. But I thought, no, it is bad, it is a serious thing. I always

:29:33. > :29:36.feel so carefree when I go on buses and walking around the street, even

:29:37. > :29:47.at night time, I never really feared, you think it is never going

:29:48. > :29:49.to happen to you, but it did. Such a horrible thing to go through.

:29:50. > :29:51.With me now is Detective Inspector Dave Dixon.

:29:52. > :29:56.You believe this man is a prolific offender?

:29:57. > :30:01.Yes, we have him linked to six offences all on buses. He mainly

:30:02. > :30:07.offence in the daytime but also at night, and it is one of this night

:30:08. > :30:21.offences that we have got some CCTV footage from the N18 bus. He

:30:22. > :30:26.immediately goes upstairs and start offending, he offends against for

:30:27. > :30:31.women, the last woman was asleep and he woke up. He has been assaulting

:30:32. > :30:37.people on a number of different bus routes? Yes, mainly in Brent and

:30:38. > :30:41.Park Royal, but also on the 341 in Tottenham, and the 226 from Ealing

:30:42. > :30:46.to Golders Green. You've got a very clear images of the man responsible?

:30:47. > :30:51.Yes, all London buses have CCTV cameras that record internally and

:30:52. > :30:54.externally and we've got some images from him will stop different times

:30:55. > :30:58.and dates but you can clearly identify in these images that he's

:30:59. > :31:01.the same man. Also one of the victims took a picture with her

:31:02. > :31:03.mobile phone and that is also a really good image of him. Thank you

:31:04. > :31:05.very much. Time now for a look

:31:06. > :31:08.at today's Wanted Faces. Starting with 26-year-old

:31:09. > :31:09.Van Than Nguyen, although you may know him

:31:10. > :31:12.as Jimmy or Giang le. Detectives want to speak to him

:31:13. > :31:16.in connection to human trafficking and modern slavery incidents at nail

:31:17. > :31:20.bars across the UK. Originally from Vietnam,

:31:21. > :31:22.he now has friends and family in Staffordshire, the West Midlands,

:31:23. > :31:26.Manchester, Cheltenham Next is Sheridan Fayomi,

:31:27. > :31:32.but he also uses the names Timothy Johnson, Timothy Arnold

:31:33. > :31:36.and Sheridan Calliste. He was arrested in connection

:31:37. > :31:39.with the recovery of a quantity of heroin and crack cocaine

:31:40. > :31:41.and released on police bail, but hasn't returned

:31:42. > :31:44.for further questioning. He has links to London,

:31:45. > :31:47.Manchester and Sussex Do you recognise 18-year-old

:31:48. > :31:54.John Casey, although he sometimes claims he's 22-year-old Michael

:31:55. > :31:56.Casey? He was released on police bail

:31:57. > :31:59.in connection to a number of house burglaries

:32:00. > :32:01.in West Sussex and Brighton. He's failed to return

:32:02. > :32:03.though and is now wanted. Casey has a badly scarred face

:32:04. > :32:07.and an Irish accent. Finally today is Tony White,

:32:08. > :32:10.although you may know him Police in Kent would like to speak

:32:11. > :32:16.to him about an assault on a woman and the breach

:32:17. > :32:18.of a restraining order. The 30-year-old has a tattoo

:32:19. > :32:22.of the words "RIP Nan" on his neck and links to Thanet

:32:23. > :32:24.and Ashford in Kent. If you know where any

:32:25. > :32:30.of these faces are, make sure you get in touch

:32:31. > :32:36.using the numbers on screen. The terrible blaze in West London

:32:37. > :32:40.that's claimed so many lives has shown us all once again the immense

:32:41. > :32:43.bravery of all our The job of the police is to serve

:32:44. > :32:51.and to protect the public, and in the past few months we've

:32:52. > :32:53.seen how individual officers have put their own lives on the line

:32:54. > :32:56.time and time again. Next up, the story of two officers

:32:57. > :33:15.who ran toward the danger to protect PC Craig Nicholson and PC Shand

:33:16. > :33:18.Panesar have been working together on response for more than five years

:33:19. > :33:22.and for the pair, every day is different. Being a police officer,

:33:23. > :33:28.you never know what you're going to have to deal with. It's the brightly

:33:29. > :33:33.that we get, especially on response team. We get neighbour disputes,

:33:34. > :33:37.domestic incidents, a wide range. You are under suspicion of

:33:38. > :33:44.drink-driving. The reports are that art 15-year-old -- there is a 15 rod

:33:45. > :33:49.missing child, a fight on high Street, all different things that

:33:50. > :33:52.come out when you're driving around. One night last September, the

:33:53. > :33:56.officers received a call outs to a house fire in south-west that. As

:33:57. > :34:00.soon as I heard house-buyer, somebody trapped, no longer

:34:01. > :34:04.responding, you know that that is going to be a serious incident that

:34:05. > :34:10.is going to take a lot of people to deal with. The house belonged to

:34:11. > :34:16.37-year-old Russell Alsop and his partner of 18 years, Heather.

:34:17. > :34:22.Everyone needs a soul mate and a best friend, that person for the

:34:23. > :34:25.best times and the bad. At the time, Russell was Heather's full-time

:34:26. > :34:30.carer as she suffered from emphysema, a form of lung disease.

:34:31. > :34:35.Unfortunately, it affects a lot of her day-to-day activities, walking,

:34:36. > :34:39.things normal people take for granted. One evening, Russell was

:34:40. > :34:44.downstairs preparing Heather's T. It became quite hectic. Something

:34:45. > :34:51.distracted me away from what I was actually meant to be doing. I forgot

:34:52. > :34:56.that I had put this chip pan on. So that's when hell broke loose for me.

:34:57. > :35:01.The chip pan had caught fire and within minutes, the whole kitchen

:35:02. > :35:08.was in the in flames. I described trying to get into a fire is raging,

:35:09. > :35:11.with thick black smoke, as your worst nightmare. But Russell

:35:12. > :35:17.realised Heather was still upstairs. But into the bedroom and she was

:35:18. > :35:25.lifeless on the bed, like completely non-responsive. Before she lost

:35:26. > :35:30.consciousness, Heather managed to dial 999. The police were the first

:35:31. > :35:36.to arrive on the scene. Wow. Definitely started in here. This is

:35:37. > :35:42.their first visit to the house since that fateful night. I know fires

:35:43. > :35:48.spread quickly, but you don't realise just how quickly they

:35:49. > :35:52.spread. Coming from turning up, and they're being smoke inside the

:35:53. > :35:59.house, and then they're being a raging fire within minutes, it's

:36:00. > :36:04.strange. It's a bit surreal. We hadn't seen any of this, we'd only

:36:05. > :36:11.seen the photos. When the call came out to ask that getting him out of

:36:12. > :36:16.being a couple of minutes maximum, here. This whole area was just

:36:17. > :36:22.smoke. They peeled the wallpaper off now but this whole area was just

:36:23. > :36:27.thick black smoke. As first responders, they had to act quickly.

:36:28. > :36:32.We didn't get more than a couple of metres in before the smoke was just

:36:33. > :36:35.so thick, we couldn't breathe. Russell was screaming, I thought it

:36:36. > :36:40.was upstairs to the left so I got halfway up the stairs, I needed to

:36:41. > :36:46.breathe because the smoke was so bad. So I came back outside, took a

:36:47. > :36:50.couple of deep breaths and then went upstairs to the left. Just as I got

:36:51. > :36:58.round the corner to the left I bumped into Russell, and at our feet

:36:59. > :37:01.was Heather, laying there, lifeless. As far as I remember Heather coming

:37:02. > :37:07.out to my left and being here, laying on the floor. I took hold of

:37:08. > :37:11.her anyway I could, grabbed her and dragged her down, quickly as I could

:37:12. > :37:16.to get her outside. In that split second, when Craig put her down, I

:37:17. > :37:19.saw that she was making no movement whatsoever. We took her outside to

:37:20. > :37:24.the pavement just out to the front, about a metre away from the front

:37:25. > :37:31.door. Heather was obviously not breathing and in a bad way. We got

:37:32. > :37:35.through around six rounds of CPR. She was completely lifeless. Not

:37:36. > :37:39.making any noise is odd sounds. After 15 minutes, I felt her stomach

:37:40. > :37:45.drops. And then she started moving again. She started trying to

:37:46. > :37:51.breathe, gasping for air but doing it herself. It's the most amazing

:37:52. > :37:55.feeling ever. I can't describe it. And then finally, the paramedics

:37:56. > :37:59.arrived and they took over which was amazing. Heather spent the next five

:38:00. > :38:06.weeks in hospital but went on to make a full recovery. I'm so lucky

:38:07. > :38:13.that those people responded. Because they're not fire brigade, and I know

:38:14. > :38:16.they're not meant to, they have no safety equipment, and they did. This

:38:17. > :38:21.is the sort of people that really make a difference in the world. Now

:38:22. > :38:24.that Heather is in better health, the officers have come along to see

:38:25. > :38:32.how they're both coping since the fire. Hello, again. How you doing,

:38:33. > :38:40.OK? I'm OK, are you OK? You look a lot better. Thank you. Nice to see

:38:41. > :38:50.you. Nice to see you as well. How are you doing, made? Not too bad. .

:38:51. > :38:54.Thank you so much for what you did, you are both heroes, I'm so

:38:55. > :38:59.grateful. Most amazing thing was when you started breathing again,

:39:00. > :39:02.that, for me, was just amazing. He started breathing, you are starting

:39:03. > :39:06.to try so hard to breathe on their own and we were still working on

:39:07. > :39:10.you. You deserve everything that you've been awarded. We've got

:39:11. > :39:16.everything we deserve, she's still here, that's the main thing. We do

:39:17. > :39:21.what we do, and it's only when you sit down afterwards to reflect, you

:39:22. > :39:27.think about what happened. These officers, the Metropolitan Police

:39:28. > :39:33.and any police force, they do them proud. They helped us and that's an

:39:34. > :39:38.amazing thing. This is why I joined. The feeling is why someone is still

:39:39. > :39:46.around because you are able to give them the ultimate helps. That's why

:39:47. > :39:50.I joined the job, to help people. It's really inspirational, and a

:39:51. > :39:54.reminder of the bravery of the emergency services. They are putting

:39:55. > :39:58.themselves out there in the face of danger. And of course, our hearts go

:39:59. > :40:00.out to everyone involved in the London terror attacks and the

:40:01. > :40:08.Grenfell Tower fire earlier this week.

:40:09. > :40:14.Today is all about coming together, as we said earlier, it's about

:40:15. > :40:21.uniting rather than dividing. The Bees got lots of different people

:40:22. > :40:27.here, various groups, we have got Sanjit here. You have got very

:40:28. > :40:32.heavily involved in the aftermath of the tower fire, what did you see

:40:33. > :40:37.when you are there? In a macro it was very humbling, all of the

:40:38. > :40:46.different cultures coming together. They showed a lot of selflessness.

:40:47. > :40:49.And it resonates with us. So it was great to see everyone come together.

:40:50. > :40:55.And for you on a personal level, what does getting together, what

:40:56. > :40:59.does this kind of event mean? The last few days we've been asked by a

:41:00. > :41:04.reporter 's, white did you get involved? What we are saying is, why

:41:05. > :41:08.wouldn't we get involved? We are taught that humanity is one big

:41:09. > :41:22.family, and humanity is suffering, so we will help and step up. We have

:41:23. > :41:28.vans serving homeless people on the streets of London, we enjoy doing

:41:29. > :41:36.it. It's humbling hearing this. You are organising and Iftar tonight, so

:41:37. > :41:42.tell me about that? We are fasting for Ramadan and at the end of the

:41:43. > :41:47.day, we break bread. So tonight including, Islamic relief has and

:41:48. > :41:54.Iftar, bringing people together -- tonight in Luton, in memory of Jo

:41:55. > :41:58.Cox. On Monday, you would have heard from Inspector Jim Cole, one of the

:41:59. > :42:02.first officers on the scene in the London terror attacks, what does

:42:03. > :42:06.this mean to you, this event? It's nice to get everybody together, see

:42:07. > :42:09.the community is coming together. The response from people in and

:42:10. > :42:18.around London Bridge has been fantastic. And Jess, your patch is

:42:19. > :42:23.London Bridge, important to you? Yes, I'm responsible for the Square

:42:24. > :42:26.mile, including London Bridge, it's all about reassurance and letting

:42:27. > :42:30.people know that we are out there. If you see a police officer, talk to

:42:31. > :42:35.us, we are friendly. It's about being stoic and going forward.

:42:36. > :42:35.Sticking together. Just chatting to everyone, it's incredible

:42:36. > :42:40.inspirational. What an inspiring

:42:41. > :42:43.way to end the week. Now there's just time before we go

:42:44. > :42:46.for a look at what's been coming in on the calls,

:42:47. > :42:53.texts and emails. You remember this CCTV from

:42:54. > :42:58.yesterday? Switch it off, because it's going to fire. Police want to

:42:59. > :43:03.question this man after an elderly woman was burgled and a man claimed

:43:04. > :43:06.he was here to turn her gas. Police say that as a result of information

:43:07. > :43:08.you have given them, they are chasing up a potentially strong

:43:09. > :43:09.lead. That's it for this week

:43:10. > :43:12.but we'll be back on Monday. Michelle, where will

:43:13. > :43:14.you be next week? Rav, I'll be literally

:43:15. > :43:16.up in the air at a small airfield

:43:17. > :43:17.in North Yorkshire, where I'll be joining police

:43:18. > :43:29.on the lookout for smugglers. I just wish everyone for now the

:43:30. > :43:33.best for the event this weekend. For more details about the crimes on

:43:34. > :43:42.this programme, head to our website. He is another look at this morning

:43:43. > :43:45.'s wanted faces. We'll be back on Monday morning. Take care.
