:00:03. > :00:06.is in the wrong place. All I see is the driver coming through the air

:00:06. > :00:09.by the side of me. And a drink driver has gone shopping at the

:00:09. > :00:12.wrong time. I understand you've got a problem with your throat, however

:00:12. > :00:20.you can still breathe fine. She's upset with us because we've caught

:00:20. > :00:23.her. If you get behind the wheel of a car and you've been drinking,

:00:23. > :00:33.then as far as I'm concerned you're fair game, I'm coming after you.

:00:33. > :00:46.

:00:46. > :00:49.There are no real excuses for causing an accident, but two of the

:00:49. > :00:52.most commonly used ones for bad driving are tiredness and running

:00:52. > :01:01.late, which is why the morning rush-hour can be a treacherous time

:01:01. > :01:09.Today in Luton, PC Sam Sparks and Shona Gillon are up early keeping

:01:09. > :01:16.tabs on the traffic. Shona has spotted another cause of accidents,

:01:16. > :01:24.someone using their mobile phone. He's off it now. Worth a chat with

:01:24. > :01:27.anyway. This one here? He had something up to his ear. The Corsa

:01:27. > :01:32.driver will be given a ticket whether he was actually having a

:01:32. > :01:36.conversation with someone or not. You don't have to be making a call

:01:36. > :01:39.to use your mobile phone. You can have it in your hand, you can be

:01:39. > :01:42.looking at something on there, then you're using your mobile phone. You

:01:42. > :01:44.don't have to be texting or calling, and that's what the public need to

:01:44. > :01:47.understand because it's drawing their attention away from their

:01:47. > :01:52.driving so then you're driving without due care and attention, and

:01:52. > :01:59.you won't be in proper control of your vehicle. Any idea why I might

:01:59. > :02:02.have stopped you? No. No? Where is your phone? The man is doing the

:02:02. > :02:06.school run. You just follow me into the nursery club, put them in

:02:06. > :02:09.nursery and then you can deal with me. No, two minutes. We'll deal

:02:09. > :02:12.with you now. Had any cannabis this morning? No, not this morning.

:02:12. > :02:16.was the last time you had some? Yesterday, day before. Because I

:02:16. > :02:19.can smell some. Sam has got a keen nose for trouble. My colleague is

:02:19. > :02:23.going to go through your car because I've got a very strong

:02:23. > :02:26.smell of cannabis coming from you. All right? Now is a good time to

:02:26. > :02:30.tell me if there's anything in there. There's a joint in my bag.

:02:30. > :02:33.Just the one? Shona, a joint in his bag. Where is your bag? If he was

:02:33. > :02:36.possibly using cannabis prior to driving or whilst driving, he could

:02:36. > :02:39.have been under the influence of drugs while driving his motor

:02:39. > :02:41.vehicle, which is a serious offence. Sit down, girls. Two minutes and

:02:41. > :02:48.they'll be fine. That's hardly booster seating, is it? That's it,

:02:48. > :02:52.that's all I've got. Yes? Cool. There was a spliff in the bag, a

:02:52. > :02:58.joint of cannabis, which in itself isn't a lot but bear in mind that

:02:58. > :03:01.bag was on the back seat with his two young children. Sam is going to

:03:01. > :03:04.have the car searched in case there's any more. We'll get another

:03:04. > :03:07.unit here because I can smell it and you've given me that small bit

:03:08. > :03:11.of cannabis. The driver will be searched as well but they need male

:03:11. > :03:14.help for that. If it's two females and we've stopped a male, we're not

:03:14. > :03:22.able to physically search him so we need the divisional unit to come

:03:22. > :03:28.along and carry out the search for us. Savage. S A V A G E? Yes.

:03:28. > :03:32.What's your first name? Leon. middle name, Leon? No. Date of

:03:32. > :03:36.birth? Do you know what, let me give you my real name instead of

:03:36. > :03:39.messing about. My name is James McCann. Do you know what? I've got

:03:39. > :03:44.no insurance on this car. OK. Good answer. What's your name? James?

:03:44. > :03:47.James McCann. James, come and take a seat in the back of my car.

:03:47. > :03:50.insurance means the car will be seized under section 165 of the

:03:50. > :03:53.Road Traffic Act, or operation camphor as they call it. The driver

:03:53. > :03:57.will be quizzed about it and the phone. In the meantime, Shona has

:03:57. > :04:01.got some babysitting to do. Sweetheart, can you just lean in.

:04:01. > :04:04.If you want look out of the window, look out of that one because the

:04:04. > :04:06.cars are going past. I don't want you getting hurt. You see the

:04:06. > :04:10.police car behind? He's in that car there.

:04:10. > :04:14.The kids were absolutely lovely. They're typical one and four year

:04:14. > :04:16.olds. They just wanted their daddy but once you started talking to

:04:16. > :04:19.them about cartoons and kids' programmes, they'll interact with

:04:19. > :04:27.you because you're speaking to them and they understand what you're

:04:27. > :04:32.talking about. I'll sing Upsy Daisy! It's more whoopsie daisy

:04:32. > :04:38.than Upsy Daisy for the girls' dad. James, do you have a driving

:04:38. > :04:43.licence? Provisional. I think you realise that was all going to go

:04:43. > :04:48.horribly wrong, didn't you? I did. Don't worry about it, we'll sort it

:04:48. > :04:51.mate. Yeah. Like I say, thanks for your honesty. You could have gone

:04:51. > :04:56.down that horrible route of getting yourself arrested. Sign there for

:04:56. > :04:58.Once you've gone down the line of lying to us by giving false details,

:04:58. > :05:01.you commit the offence of perverting the course of justice

:05:02. > :05:07.which is a serious imprisonable offence.

:05:07. > :05:15.Why are you driving without a licence or insurance? Why? Because

:05:15. > :05:25.I have to get the kids to nursery, like an idiot. Were you displaying

:05:25. > :05:25.

:05:25. > :05:28.any L-plates? No. Look. They'll be fine. She'll stop them, honestly.

:05:28. > :05:31.He was stopped initially for using his mobile phone, for which he'll

:05:31. > :05:34.get three points and a 60 fine, and he was reported for the offence

:05:34. > :05:36.of driving otherwise in accordance with the licence because he was a

:05:37. > :05:43.provisional licence holder, and no insurance, and without displaying

:05:43. > :05:50.L-plates. I'll ring you back in a bit because I'm in the police car.

:05:50. > :05:54.She's in the car, she's all right. I can see her. I'll ring you back

:05:54. > :05:58.in a minute. As well as driving illegally and being on his phone,

:05:58. > :06:04.the man is breaking the law by not having proper car seats for his

:06:04. > :06:10.children. So, if he were to have an accident with no insurance and it

:06:10. > :06:13.was quite a nasty accident, he'd be losing both his children as well.

:06:13. > :06:15.While Sam and Shona may have sniffed out a motorist violating

:06:15. > :06:19.traffic laws with a spliff, there's a specialist squad in Bedfordshire

:06:19. > :06:25.whose job it is to track down the more serious drugs and drug dealers,

:06:25. > :06:30.the ANPR intercept squad. ANPR is the automatic numberplate

:06:30. > :06:33.recognition, new-age technology and fighting crime. The technology

:06:33. > :06:40.reeds numberplates, gives us a heads up in relation to any

:06:40. > :06:43.intelligence on individuals or the vehicles being used. PC Martin Lent

:06:43. > :06:49.and the team have got some intelligence about a dealer in a

:06:49. > :06:55.Ford Mondeo who has been spotted in Bedford town centre. Tim, do you

:06:56. > :07:00.want me to go in front of it? team do their hunting in a pack.

:07:00. > :07:09.They've got three intercept cars out today. We're going to go in

:07:10. > :07:16.front of it. Stop. The suspected drug dealer has been caught by

:07:16. > :07:19.surprise. He's no idea what's going on. We tend to find that, by

:07:19. > :07:29.stopping the vehicle as quick as we can, almost pounce on it, it gives

:07:29. > :07:30.

:07:30. > :07:37.the occupants very limited What's your name? You got anything

:07:37. > :07:42.on you? BEEP. If you say you haven't and I find something, I'm

:07:42. > :07:52.going to throw the book at you. Open your mouth. Spit it out.

:07:52. > :07:53.

:07:53. > :08:00.You're under arrest, my friend. Search. Any more in there? No, no.

:08:00. > :08:10.Open up for me. Open up. Put your head back. Yes, you have. Get it

:08:10. > :08:11.

:08:11. > :08:19.out. Spit it out. I haven't got nothing. Swallowed it. Stand up.

:08:19. > :08:24.swear! OK. That was for my personal use, officer man. Really, why did

:08:25. > :08:27.you put it in your mouth? Have you got him? Dealers take a big risk

:08:27. > :08:36.carrying drugs in their mouths, necking several wraps of heroin to

:08:36. > :08:39.avoid being caught can have serious consequences. Come with me, mate.

:08:39. > :08:43.I'd just got a lift off him. Unfortunately you're guilty by

:08:43. > :08:48.association. The passenger in the car is being arrested as well, even

:08:48. > :08:51.though he's claiming he's completely innocent. Please, mate.

:08:51. > :08:54.You've got to come back to the nick to be searched. If there's nothing

:08:54. > :08:58.in the search you'll be released straightaway. I, over the years,

:08:58. > :09:01.have become a bit of a cynic. I like to err on the side of caution.

:09:01. > :09:06.I always bring people in for the purpose of the drugs search because

:09:06. > :09:09.I have the grounds to believe that he's got drugs on him. He was just

:09:09. > :09:13.giving me a lift home but he went and stopped in Victoria Road to see

:09:13. > :09:17.somebody, then he dropped me back and he was just going home. He had

:09:17. > :09:22.to do a couple of things so I went with him like a fool. What's going

:09:22. > :09:24.to happen, mate? You'll be booked into custody, you'll be strip-

:09:24. > :09:33.searched, and then, depending on what happens from there, you'll be

:09:33. > :09:36.interviewed. We can only do a preliminary search at the roadside

:09:36. > :09:46.because anything further than that we have to respect the dignity and

:09:46. > :09:49.we have to take them in and search them in private. While Martin takes

:09:49. > :09:54.his prisoner somewhere private for the search, help has arrived for

:09:54. > :09:57.Sam and Shona to search the driver they've stopped. My colleagues that

:09:57. > :10:00.have just turned up in a Panda, they'll deal with you for that

:10:00. > :10:06.small amount of cannabis you've got. Have you got any previous with

:10:06. > :10:09.drugs? I have, yeah. How long ago? About two years maybe. Because he

:10:09. > :10:11.had got a previous conviction for cannabis possession, he had to be

:10:11. > :10:16.arrested and taken to the police station. You can't have two

:10:16. > :10:19.cautions. Advice for children in the back, a

:10:19. > :10:23.ticket for the phone, campered his vehicle. And that's not the end of

:10:23. > :10:27.it. The officers searched the car and in the front passenger door

:10:28. > :10:33.pocket was a small deal bag of amphetamines. Oh man! Let me phone

:10:33. > :10:37.someone to get the kids. The man, who was only pulled over because he

:10:37. > :10:41.was on his mobile phone, is now even more trouble. When you've got

:10:41. > :10:46.kids bouncing around in the car and that's to hand, it makes you angry.

:10:46. > :10:49.The children were the crux of this story. He had drugs in easy reach

:10:49. > :10:53.of a four year-old and a one year- old. He hadn't even taken the care

:10:53. > :10:56.to put them in the boot out of their reach.

:10:56. > :11:00.The kids are quite happy, as you can see, at the moment. He's made a

:11:00. > :11:04.phone call to mum and a friend that will hopefully come and get them.

:11:04. > :11:08.They want to go to nursery but I'm not happy for him to walk up to

:11:08. > :11:11.nursery because one of us will have to walk up. It's not fair to the

:11:11. > :11:14.children, here or at the nursery, seeing them turn up with the police.

:11:14. > :11:18.Driving and phoning has turned out to be very costly for the man. He's

:11:18. > :11:22.losing his brand new car, and until he can sort out his insurance he

:11:22. > :11:25.won't be able to get it back. you for being good. Come on then,

:11:25. > :11:28.James. Let's get you sorted. As a parent myself, it's horrifying

:11:28. > :11:35.to know that people are prepared to put their children in danger like

:11:35. > :11:41.that. In Bedford, the other driver caught in his car with drugs has

:11:41. > :11:44.been brought into the police station. Detention, first thing

:11:44. > :11:48.obviously because we've spot checked the vehicle. I'm happy

:11:48. > :11:52.about the spot check. The officer is saying that you produced from

:11:52. > :11:55.your mouth a quantity of what you stated to be heroin. The officers

:11:55. > :12:01.are saying that the same vehicle earlier on today was allegedly

:12:01. > :12:05.dealing in drugs. There's the suspicion that these drugs were in

:12:05. > :12:10.your possession with intention to supply. That's to be established

:12:10. > :12:13.obviously in interview. Before that, the man is going to get a full body

:12:13. > :12:18.search which can be authorised when looking for class A drugs such as

:12:19. > :12:22.heroin or crack cocaine. Once that authorisation has been granted,

:12:22. > :12:30.there's two officers of the same sex, they take this person into the

:12:30. > :12:34.cell and we do a systematic search. They've come up empty-handed.

:12:34. > :12:40.Everything that he had was probably in his mouth at the time. The man's

:12:40. > :12:46.passenger will get the same treatment. It's not the best job in

:12:46. > :12:49.the world but somebody has to do it. The most unpleasant part of it is

:12:49. > :12:52.checking the genitalia. We don't touch them at all. We have a quick

:12:53. > :12:55.look, they turn around, they squat just a little bit to make sure

:12:55. > :13:02.there's nothing that's obvious which could be concealed, either in

:13:02. > :13:07.the crack up the backside. This time they've come up trumps. His

:13:07. > :13:15.bottom has got crack in it. They found 10 wraps of class A up his

:13:15. > :13:20.backside. I'm not going to touch it too much, it's been up his bum. I'm

:13:20. > :13:25.going to put it in the bag. Another of the unpleasant jobs in the life

:13:25. > :13:32.of a traffic cop is dealing with bad accidents. Although, for

:13:32. > :13:36.Sergeant Chris Smith, it's got a little easier over the years.

:13:36. > :13:39.been in it now for 22 years so there's not of awful lot that fazes

:13:39. > :13:43.you from that point of view after that length of service, but

:13:43. > :13:49.occasionally one does. This evening, a report has come in have a crash

:13:49. > :13:53.involving a car and a motorcyclist outside a garage in Dunstable.

:13:53. > :13:59.don't know the injuries yet, apart from the fact he's got some sort of

:13:59. > :14:02.leg injury. Which is considered to be quite serious.

:14:02. > :14:06.When we got there, the scene was firmly contained. The casualty, who

:14:06. > :14:15.was riding the bike, is already in the ambulance ready to go to the

:14:15. > :14:17.local A&E. What are the injuries? We called out collision

:14:17. > :14:21.investigation purely because initially I was told that there

:14:21. > :14:28.could be pelvic injuries and of course we had to take that as being

:14:28. > :14:32.Let's get some cones, first, I want this bit shut off. We don't know

:14:32. > :14:36.the extent of his injuries. I want the garage shut off as well just

:14:36. > :14:38.now. We'll get Bob to come down and do his bits and pieces, I think,

:14:38. > :14:41.until we've got an update from hospital.

:14:41. > :14:44.Bob, the crash detective, only comes out to the most serious

:14:44. > :14:48.accidents, those in which people die or might suffer life-changing

:14:48. > :14:52.injuries. To help him when he gets here, the road has got to be closed.

:14:52. > :14:56.You have to protect as much as you possibly can to give them the best

:14:56. > :14:59.chance of gaining the best evidence in case of any court appearance

:14:59. > :15:01.later on. A young lad who was on a bicycle

:15:01. > :15:05.witnessed what happened. And where did he come from? Behind

:15:05. > :15:08.me, come from that direction. he's come up...? The lad's come

:15:08. > :15:12.that way, it's pretty much stopped, though, cos it was just coming

:15:12. > :15:16.through the petrol station. What did he try and do, come up the

:15:16. > :15:20.inside of the Corsa? He tried to come up the inside of the road.

:15:20. > :15:23.The young girl driver of the Corsa has been badly shaken up, but she

:15:23. > :15:27.does not have any injuries. Her parents have come down to make sure

:15:27. > :15:30.she was all right, and the Corsa was parked up in the garage

:15:30. > :15:33.forecourt. Green Corsa, which is situated over there, was indicating

:15:33. > :15:37.to come into the garage. I'd already passed that car and then

:15:37. > :15:41.the bike... I didn't see it, but I heard the bike behind me and it

:15:41. > :15:45.smashed and all I seen is the driver coming through the air by

:15:45. > :15:48.the side of me. Yeah, and that's why I am still shaking. So it's not

:15:48. > :15:51.that good... Mind my language, but I chit myself!

:15:51. > :15:55.The rider had come off the bike and basically been thrown through the

:15:55. > :15:59.air and landed on the carriageway. Is that your bike, is it? And that

:15:59. > :16:03.wasn't involved at all? No, that's what I was on, riding! OK. Well,

:16:03. > :16:06.you put your bike up and take it in there out the way, don't touch

:16:06. > :16:09.anything, yeah? All the signs point to the car

:16:09. > :16:13.driver being at fault for failing to see the oncoming bike. But all

:16:13. > :16:16.might not be as first appears. Initially, it was my view that the

:16:16. > :16:19.Corsa had been at fault, but obviously has more witnesses came

:16:19. > :16:23.to light and they were talking about the motorcyclist, the manner

:16:23. > :16:25.of his riding, it became apparent that perhaps it isn't all that

:16:25. > :16:28.meets the eye. Bob, the crash investigator, has

:16:28. > :16:31.arrived. It's his job to determine the exact sequence of events and

:16:31. > :16:35.put a finger on who might be to blame.

:16:35. > :16:38.We were a little bit limited, there, as well, because we had lost a

:16:38. > :16:42.little bit of forensics, if you like, where the debris had been put,

:16:42. > :16:45.because of traffic running over it. It doesn't tally, does it? You've

:16:45. > :16:48.got debris starting from here going in that direction, which is OK,

:16:48. > :16:51.that's fine. The bikes, you've got two different directions, haven't

:16:51. > :16:55.you? It's not the easiest of investigations. The roads were very,

:16:55. > :16:59.very wet and, of course, as the roads are wet, you are not left

:16:59. > :17:00.with the marks on the roads which you are sometimes which, you know,

:17:00. > :17:03.paint a fantastic picture on occasions.

:17:03. > :17:06.But another theory about what happened is emerging.

:17:06. > :17:10.From speaking to the witnesses and the drivers, the driver of the

:17:10. > :17:13.Corsa, she had a passenger as well, they were saying as they pulled

:17:13. > :17:19.into the petrol station they couldn't see the bike, they believe

:17:19. > :17:22.he did not have his lights on. Corsa is turning right in... That

:17:22. > :17:26.would make a bit more sense, then, wouldn't it? So if she's turned

:17:26. > :17:30.right, he's gone over the top, which is why he's in the middle of

:17:30. > :17:33.the road. Turning in, the bike's coming down towards us from this

:17:33. > :17:36.direction and obviously he's made contact with the near side, the

:17:36. > :17:40.rider's gone over the top now, which would fit with the rider

:17:40. > :17:44.landing and finishing where he does. The garage's forecourt CCTV tallies

:17:44. > :17:49.with Bob's conclusion that the car did turn into the path of the

:17:49. > :17:53.oncoming bike. But she isn't going to be prosecuted.

:17:53. > :17:57.In the eyes of the law, really, she would be at fault, she would be

:18:01. > :18:06.of the motorcyclist. However, she's got serious mitigation on the fact

:18:06. > :18:10.that the motorcyclist allegedly didn't have any lights on.

:18:10. > :18:15.News from hospital is that the rider needs to be operated on for a

:18:15. > :18:19.hip injury, but isn't on the danger list. All that remains to be done

:18:19. > :18:22.is clear up the scene, but just as the Corsa is being pulled onto the

:18:22. > :18:24.recovery track, another woman driver has pulled on to the

:18:24. > :18:28.forecourt. She took probably about five or six

:18:28. > :18:32.attempts to get into a parking bay, which was on the far side of the

:18:32. > :18:35.garage, and to say it was the worst bit of parking we've ever seen was

:18:35. > :18:39.an understatement. The cops think the woman might have

:18:39. > :18:42.been drinking. If she has, she's picked precisely the wrong place

:18:42. > :18:44.and the wrong time to come and do her shopping.

:18:44. > :18:48.There was a marked traffic car there, marked collision

:18:48. > :18:54.investigation police van on there, marked specials police van on there,

:18:54. > :18:58.and a panda car. Looks like she's possibly collided with a few things.

:18:58. > :19:05.And we went in and found her in the wine aisle, so we invited her back

:19:05. > :19:09.out of the premises. We didn't want to breathalyse her inside the

:19:09. > :19:13.garage. She was absolutely stinking of drink.

:19:13. > :19:17.We're just going to give you a breath test, all right? Nice, deep

:19:17. > :19:22.breath and just blow into this until I tell you to stop, OK? Nice,

:19:22. > :19:27.deep breath. Blow harder. Blow harder. No, you're going to have to

:19:27. > :19:32.blow a lot harder. There's a problem. Laryngitis... You've got

:19:32. > :19:35.laryngitis? OK. Shall we try it again? "I've got laryngitis, I

:19:35. > :19:39.can't talk". It doesn't stop you blowing, though.

:19:39. > :19:42.Listen, listen, OK? I've seen you drive, all right, I've seen you

:19:42. > :19:46.drive, and due to the manner of your walking across there and the

:19:46. > :19:50.fact that I can smell alcohol on your breath, gives us ground to

:19:50. > :19:53.request a breath specimen, OK? If you fail or refuse, it is an

:19:53. > :19:56.offence for which you will be arrested. My colleagues have given

:19:56. > :20:00.you plenty of opportunities, we will give you one more opportunity.

:20:00. > :20:03.If you fail to provide then, you will be arrested and you will go to

:20:03. > :20:08.the police station, OK? So nice, deep breath, blow into the box

:20:08. > :20:11.until we tell you to stop, and then hopefully you will be under, go and

:20:11. > :20:14.get your shopping and get yourself off home, all right? Yeah. I feel

:20:14. > :20:17.sick. Deep breath... I understand you're trying, and I understand

:20:17. > :20:20.you've got a problem with your throat, however, you can still

:20:20. > :20:24.breathe fine, so there's no reason why you can't blow.

:20:24. > :20:28.Most of my career I've been on traffic, and so I've dealt with an

:20:28. > :20:33.awful lot of drink drivers. You know when somebody is trying it on,

:20:33. > :20:37.you knew she was trying it on. Sorry... (INAUDIBLE). You're going

:20:37. > :20:42.to have to go to the police station and get a blood sample, then, if

:20:42. > :20:46.you can't blow. I think... Just come and take a seat in the back of

:20:46. > :20:50.the car. She failed to provide on the roadside, so she was arrested.

:20:50. > :20:54.All of a sudden, she is no longer lost for words. Get into the car...

:20:54. > :20:58.Don't push me around, I'm married to a policeman for 28 years...

:20:58. > :21:08.Fantastic. Don't... Don't do that. You're getting in the car. Put the

:21:08. > :21:09.

:21:09. > :21:13.cuffs on. Oh, get stuffed! It's not open for debate, my love, OK?

:21:13. > :21:17.We can do it the easy way or we can do it the hard way, all right?

:21:17. > :21:20.Let's do it the easy way. She went from quite a vulnerable,

:21:20. > :21:27.lone female on her own, to being quite a vocal, abusive female.

:21:27. > :21:32.arrogant. All right, I'm kissed off at the

:21:32. > :21:37.moment, that's all. Your voice has got better. Oh, how wonderful! Do

:21:37. > :21:42.you want me to sing to you like Katherine Jenkins?

:21:42. > :21:45.Her voice did come back on the car journey. When I pointed that out to

:21:45. > :21:50.her she went back to having this bad dose of laryngitis.

:21:50. > :21:54.Oh, shut up! You're such a tosser! Oh, you're so rude! She's upset

:21:54. > :21:58.with us because we have caught her. If you get behind the wheel of a

:21:58. > :22:01.car and you've been drinking, then as far as I'm concerned, you're

:22:01. > :22:05.fair game, I'm coming after you. 20 miles north outside a Chinese in

:22:05. > :22:10.Bedford, PC Tanveer Hussain has got his eyes on another dodgy parked

:22:10. > :22:14.car. Driver, quick word, mate, please? A

:22:14. > :22:18.quick word about your wing mirror, it's come off.

:22:18. > :22:21.The offside wing mirror was sort of hanging off, so I thought I'd just

:22:22. > :22:25.have a little chat as he's come out of the pub car park.

:22:25. > :22:28.Tanveer suspects he's had a drink. Is it your car, registered in your

:22:28. > :22:31.name? It's my girlfriend's. Your girlfriend's? Are you allowed to

:22:31. > :22:34.drive it? Basically, she rang the, what's it called, the insurance

:22:34. > :22:38.company, innit? If you want to, you can ring my girlfriend now.

:22:38. > :22:42.It is not his car but it's OK, he's got connections, too.

:22:42. > :22:48.Listen, do you know my uncle, PC BEEP, yeah? Is that your uncle?

:22:48. > :22:52.Serious? Honest. He is not lost for words, but with alcohol on his

:22:52. > :22:54.breath, he is taking a risk. The more he talked, the more I

:22:54. > :22:58.began to smell it. I'll tell you the truth, mate,

:22:58. > :23:01.listen, yeah? I'm not insured to drive the car, yeah? But my

:23:01. > :23:05.girlfriend's gone out, I literally just picked my bredren up, and

:23:05. > :23:08.we're going to get a drink... much have you had to drink?

:23:09. > :23:12.Honestly? I've had one, one brandy and coke. OK. On my mum... My mum...

:23:12. > :23:15.My mum's grave. Fair enough, OK. I'm just going to quickly

:23:15. > :23:17.breathalyse you, my friend. What's your name? I don't even know your

:23:18. > :23:22.name, I'm talking to you. Isaac Johns, man. Isaac.

:23:22. > :23:25.If that was me sat in the back of the car, I wouldn't have mentioned

:23:25. > :23:29.my uncle, that's for sure. He is not going to be happy.

:23:29. > :23:33.I don't even know how to explain it, man. So you are driving around with

:23:33. > :23:36.no insurance, yeah? Having consumed alcohol? It's not a good mix, is it,

:23:36. > :23:39.to be honest, my friend? Mate, I know, man. Literally, I was

:23:39. > :23:43.just going to his house. No insurance means Tanveer's going

:23:43. > :23:46.to have the car seized. Is there a unit who could just join

:23:46. > :23:50.me just literally for one minute, please? I'm in Peel Place, off

:23:50. > :23:52.Tavistock Street. I just need them to do me a very quick favour, just

:23:52. > :23:57.park a vehicle up near to me, please.

:23:57. > :24:01.I need you to blow as hard as you can into this machine. Have you got

:24:01. > :24:05.the keys to the car, first of all? No... Where are the keys? Matey has

:24:05. > :24:08.got them. Well, I need the keys to the car, come on. Come with me,

:24:08. > :24:12.then, matey has got them. His "matey" has disappeared with

:24:12. > :24:17.the keys, he says. He is banking on Tanveer leaving the car locked up

:24:17. > :24:21.at the side of the road. Get a good seal, and blow. A lot harder, a lot

:24:21. > :24:23.harder, a lot harder, a lot harder. Honestly, I've got no more than

:24:23. > :24:26.that. I was expecting him to blow just

:24:26. > :24:28.over the roadside legal limit, but, no, he came back under,

:24:28. > :24:32.surprisingly. There's that silver car there, I

:24:32. > :24:36.just need it parked somewhere here, but has made has got the key.

:24:36. > :24:40.you want me to bring it and put it round the back here? Just literally

:24:40. > :24:44.behind me or in front of me, anywhere. Ring your mate, because I

:24:44. > :24:47.need the keys to the car. Do you know what? I'm liking you,

:24:47. > :24:51.you're a nice copper, I'm not going to lie, you're actually a nice

:24:51. > :24:55.copper. I'm here to help you, I'm not here to hinder you. But what

:24:55. > :24:57.you've got to understand... Can I ask you a serious question? Will I

:24:57. > :25:00.get arrested? Knowing he's not going to be

:25:00. > :25:04.arrested, Isaac is coming clean about the whereabouts of the car

:25:04. > :25:08.keys. All right, here. Can I take the house keys off you, please?

:25:08. > :25:11.can take the house keys. And I'll give you this car bit. Be straight

:25:11. > :25:15.with me, be honest with me, I'll look after you.

:25:15. > :25:18.It's nice for them to tell you at the start, because it makes my job

:25:18. > :25:23.easier, but, hey, another five minutes, I'll find out anyway.

:25:23. > :25:27.It was my bad. It was all me. It's a game, really. I think he was

:25:27. > :25:31.looking for an easy way for me to let him off and give him a little

:25:31. > :25:34.slap on the hand, but I don't think that was going to happen.

:25:34. > :25:37.Because he has told the truth, finally, Tanveer is offering Isaac

:25:37. > :25:40.a lift home. Or perhaps it's because he knows his uncle!

:25:40. > :25:43.Isaac's girlfriend's not going to be pleased, though. She will have

:25:43. > :25:47.to go to the police pound to get her car back.

:25:47. > :25:50.If you blow over the limit at the roadside or don't blow it all,

:25:50. > :25:53.you're taken into the police station for another go on a

:25:53. > :25:56.different machine called an Intoxilyzer. It's the final chance

:25:56. > :26:03.for the woman with laryngitis. appreciate you've got a sore throat,

:26:03. > :26:08.however, OK, you still... Mark isn't holding his breath.

:26:08. > :26:13.Nice deep breath, blow till I tell you to stop. Harder, harder, harder,

:26:13. > :26:16.harder, harder, stop. Is that OK? No, it's not, no. OK, that could be

:26:16. > :26:20.construed by the courts as a refusal, which would mean you're

:26:20. > :26:22.going to you lose your licence for a year. I don't want...

:26:22. > :26:26.understand that. But you're not even blowing.

:26:26. > :26:32.You wanted to sort of shake her and say, you know, quite clearly, "You

:26:32. > :26:36.can provide a sample, but you're doing this to mess us around".

:26:36. > :26:46.Harder. Keep going, keep going, keep going, keep going. Stop. Well

:26:46. > :26:46.

:26:46. > :26:49.done, you've done it. Well done. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes

:26:49. > :26:55.of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. She was well over.

:26:55. > :26:59.You've blown 124 and 123. What's that? That's probably, what's that,

:26:59. > :27:08.about four times over the drink- driving limit. Can I go home now?

:27:08. > :27:11.To get those readings was cracking. Oh, how lovely. Just in here.

:27:11. > :27:14.The woman can't be charged with drink-driving until she's sober.

:27:14. > :27:19.She's got a long night in a cell ahead of her.

:27:19. > :27:23.If you need us, press that button, all right? I'll get you a couple of

:27:24. > :27:27.blankets, all right? It was a costly trip to the garage

:27:27. > :27:31.for the woman. She was found guilty of drink-driving and has her

:27:31. > :27:35.licence taken away for two and a half years and given 12 months'

:27:35. > :27:38.probation. The girl driving a Corsa, who

:27:38. > :27:45.earlier turned into the same garage straight in front of a motorcyclist,

:27:45. > :27:49.was cleared of any offence after it was confirmed he had no lights on.

:27:49. > :27:54.The man who was caught with drugs in his car while taking his kids to

:27:54. > :27:58.school was convicted of position of Class B drugs and fined 150.

:27:58. > :28:03.He was also found guilty of having no insurance and given six penalty

:28:03. > :28:07.points. The man who thought it was a good idea to hide drugs in his

:28:07. > :28:10.cheeks was found guilty of dealing Class A drugs and given a six month

:28:10. > :28:14.community order. And the man who thought it was a
