0:03:44 > 0:03:47Well, Harrison, your budgies are wonderful.

0:03:47 > 0:03:49Fearne, can you give us some fun facts

0:03:49 > 0:03:52about our new feathery friends, please?

0:03:52 > 0:03:53Of course, Rory!

0:03:54 > 0:03:57The full name for budgies is budgerigars

0:03:57 > 0:04:01and they originally came from Australia.

0:04:03 > 0:04:07Budgies are very clever and can even learn to do special tricks.

0:04:07 > 0:04:09Wow, look at that!

0:04:12 > 0:04:16In the wild, budgies live in big groups and they migrate.

0:04:16 > 0:04:21That means they fly to different areas for the summer and winter.

0:04:29 > 0:04:34It's really important to make sure your pets are well looked after

0:04:34 > 0:04:36and budgies are no different.

0:04:36 > 0:04:40- How do you look after your budgies? - By cleaning the cages every day.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43- Perfect. Well, shall we do that now? - Yeah.

0:04:43 > 0:04:47- What do we do first? - We clean all of this out.

0:04:47 > 0:04:49OK, right, I'll help you do that.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54Put this in the blue box.

0:04:58 > 0:05:01Put the newspaper in there. Good work!

0:05:01 > 0:05:04- I'm going to spray, you hand rub.- Deal.

0:05:06 > 0:05:09What are all these in the bottom of the cage?

0:05:09 > 0:05:13- Poo. Budgie poo.- Budgie poo. They poo a lot, don't they?- Yeah.

0:05:16 > 0:05:19- And you cleaned this out just yesterday?- Yeah.

0:05:19 > 0:05:22We'll need to wash our hands after this!

0:05:22 > 0:05:27- I think you've given me the hard job, haven't you?- Yeah!

0:05:28 > 0:05:29CAW MEOWS

0:05:31 > 0:05:34What do we have to do now, Harrison?

0:05:34 > 0:05:38- Get clean water so the budgies can drink.- OK, Harrison.

0:05:38 > 0:05:42There's fresh water here. You hold the bowl.

0:05:42 > 0:05:45Put two hands on it and I'll pour it in.

0:05:47 > 0:05:49There we go, that looks good.

0:05:52 > 0:05:54Nice and carefully. OK.

0:05:56 > 0:05:57Good work!

0:05:57 > 0:06:00That is the water done.

0:06:00 > 0:06:03So what do you feed the budgies?

0:06:03 > 0:06:06Millet seeds, sunflower seeds, vegetables.

0:06:06 > 0:06:10That sounds like a nice, varied diet, doesn't it? Lots to eat.

0:06:10 > 0:06:15It's very important that your budgies have got fresh water and fresh food

0:06:15 > 0:06:18at all times, and that you take out old food and old water every day.

0:06:18 > 0:06:20Is there anything else we need to give them?

0:06:20 > 0:06:26- Something to give them some calcium. - Yes. Cuttlefish.- Yes, cuttlefish.

0:06:26 > 0:06:31- We've got cuttlefish here, don't we? Will you pop that in?- Yeah.

0:06:31 > 0:06:34Very good.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37We get our calcium from things like milk and yoghurt

0:06:37 > 0:06:40but budgies get some of theirs from cuttlefish.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43Cuttlefish are also good for something else.

0:06:43 > 0:06:46Budgies' beaks keep growing, just like our fingernails,

0:06:46 > 0:06:48and by giving them something hard to gnaw on,

0:06:48 > 0:06:52it means they can rub down their beaks till they're the right size.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56DOG BARKS

0:07:01 > 0:07:06So we've cleaned the cage and given the budgies some fresh food

0:07:15 > 0:07:20I can see you've got lots of budgie toys in there, which is fantastic.

0:07:20 > 0:07:24It's very important to make sure your budgies have plenty of toys

0:07:24 > 0:07:27to keep them occupied, otherwise they can become bored.

0:07:27 > 0:07:31- But there's lots of toys here for Harrison's budgies.- Yes.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57- Really?- Yeah.- Great.
