0:00:02 > 0:00:04SCHOOL BELL RINGS

0:00:04 > 0:00:07Each September, half a million children begin the most

0:00:07 > 0:00:09important year of school so far.

0:00:12 > 0:00:14Year Seven.

0:00:15 > 0:00:18CBBC have rigged this secondary school with

0:00:18 > 0:00:23loads of cameras so you can see exactly what happens...

0:00:23 > 0:00:27as they make new friends and get into trouble.

0:00:27 > 0:00:31If you wish to find out how strict I can be,

0:00:31 > 0:00:34then break the rules I set down.

0:00:34 > 0:00:36I'm not spotting make-up there, am I?

0:00:36 > 0:00:41But what they learn here will stay with them for ever.

0:00:45 > 0:00:48Hello there, I'm Mr Thoburn and I'm a science teacher here.

0:00:48 > 0:00:50If you've ever wondered what secondary school

0:00:50 > 0:00:53is like, here's your chance to find out.

0:00:53 > 0:00:54This is Our School!

0:00:54 > 0:00:56HE BELCHES

0:00:56 > 0:00:57How can you do that!?

0:01:04 > 0:01:06It's an early start for one Our School student.

0:01:09 > 0:01:10This is Harry.

0:01:13 > 0:01:15He likes dinosaurs.

0:01:18 > 0:01:21- Yay, we're going to go to school! - Okey-dokey.

0:01:21 > 0:01:24School, school, school, school!

0:01:25 > 0:01:29Want to learn about prehistoric monsters? Harry's your lad.

0:01:30 > 0:01:32First there was the Cretaceous period,

0:01:32 > 0:01:35and the first dinosaurs in the Jurassic period...

0:01:35 > 0:01:38HARRY MUMBLES

0:01:38 > 0:01:40So, hang on, the giant dinosaurs...

0:01:40 > 0:01:43- Yes.- As in the T-Rex and things like that?

0:01:43 > 0:01:46Yeah, but not in the Jurassic, they keep in the Cretaceous.

0:01:46 > 0:01:48- Right, so what comes next? - I don't know.

0:01:48 > 0:01:50MUM LAUGHS

0:01:52 > 0:01:55Harry has autism and is part of what we call

0:01:55 > 0:01:59the Progress Group which is based over here.

0:02:00 > 0:02:03OK, are you going to press the button? Well done, you.

0:02:03 > 0:02:07The Progress Group is for students who need a bit more support.

0:02:07 > 0:02:11Whatever they're dealing with, the class is here to help them

0:02:11 > 0:02:13feel more confident.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16This time, as well as Harry,

0:02:16 > 0:02:19we'll meet his Progress Group classmate, James.

0:02:19 > 0:02:22I can see I'm going to have some fun with this class this year. We've

0:02:22 > 0:02:25got some bright sparks in here, which is excellent, I like that.

0:02:25 > 0:02:28Every single one of these kids has a lot to offer.

0:02:28 > 0:02:31I believe in them, but they need to believe in themselves as well.

0:02:31 > 0:02:34So what kind of a difference will it make for James and Harry?

0:02:38 > 0:02:42Unsurprisingly, Harry's home has a bit of a dino theme.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50Harry, what's your favourite thing in the world?

0:02:50 > 0:02:53Reptiles, dragons, crocodiles,

0:02:53 > 0:02:55lizards, turtles, dinosaurs,

0:02:55 > 0:02:57including other prehistoric reptiles.

0:02:57 > 0:03:01HARRY MUMBLES

0:03:01 > 0:03:04Harry's autism makes it hard for him to communicate with

0:03:04 > 0:03:06others and make friends.

0:03:06 > 0:03:09It also gives him his unusual accent.

0:03:09 > 0:03:12So to you, Harry, what do you think the word autism means?

0:03:12 > 0:03:14Do you have any ideas?

0:03:14 > 0:03:18I don't know. I absolutely do not know what it means.

0:03:18 > 0:03:21- OK.- But I think it knows I'm a bit special.

0:03:25 > 0:03:28But Harry's autism doesn't stop him doing what he loves,

0:03:28 > 0:03:32like climbing up this massive wall every Wednesday night.

0:03:32 > 0:03:35What about climbing gear, do you wear all the climbing gear?

0:03:35 > 0:03:38Yeah, we have to wear that otherwise we'll just, "Argh".

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Look at him go!

0:03:40 > 0:03:43So how high do you think you get, then?

0:03:43 > 0:03:44Sometimes up to...

0:03:44 > 0:03:48That high?! And do you not get scared of heights?

0:03:48 > 0:03:50I used to be, but no longer.

0:03:50 > 0:03:54For Harry, the really hard thing can be making a connection to

0:03:54 > 0:03:58other people. He's never had a proper friend in his life.

0:03:58 > 0:04:00So, how... Harry?

0:04:00 > 0:04:04Harry, how important is it for you to make friends around the school?

0:04:04 > 0:04:07It's just so I can have lots of friends

0:04:07 > 0:04:09and get used to other people.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13Bringing friends home would be lovely because he's always

0:04:13 > 0:04:17been a well-liked child, but he's never really been invited to

0:04:17 > 0:04:19many parties and people haven't really invited him

0:04:19 > 0:04:23home for tea, you know, he hasn't had that, so that would be great.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25So will things change in Secondary?

0:04:25 > 0:04:27Will Harry find a friend?

0:04:27 > 0:04:29It's all down to him.

0:04:29 > 0:04:31Whoo-hoo!

0:04:36 > 0:04:42Harry's classmate James is very practical, he loves building stuff.

0:04:42 > 0:04:46I like making things because it just takes my mind off everything

0:04:46 > 0:04:48and I can just concentrate on this.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50Nobody's got to distract me all the time.

0:04:53 > 0:04:54Although I like making things,

0:04:54 > 0:04:59when I grow up I'd like to be a demolition expert because I like

0:04:59 > 0:05:02buildings, but I also like destroying things.

0:05:04 > 0:05:07You get to, like, plant C4 and stuff like that

0:05:07 > 0:05:10and you get to, like, say, "Five, four, three, two, one," and then

0:05:10 > 0:05:11blow it all up!

0:05:12 > 0:05:15James has dyslexia, which means that he struggles

0:05:15 > 0:05:19with his reading and writing down the ideas he has in his head.

0:05:19 > 0:05:22When I, like, do writing at school,

0:05:22 > 0:05:26I find it tricky because I just can't, like, write properly.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29And in his primary school, James didn't always get

0:05:29 > 0:05:32the support that he wanted.

0:05:32 > 0:05:34Because the teacher couldn't read it, I had to do it again

0:05:34 > 0:05:38and again and again, which really got annoying because that's

0:05:38 > 0:05:40the best I could do.

0:05:41 > 0:05:45It's not a subject he finds it easy to talk about.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48But maybe his time in the Progress Group will help James feel

0:05:48 > 0:05:50better about his dyslexia.

0:06:00 > 0:06:01In you come.

0:06:01 > 0:06:04Back in school, Harry and James have History

0:06:04 > 0:06:07and a chance to meet their teacher, Mr Smith.

0:06:07 > 0:06:09This is my finger of doom!

0:06:09 > 0:06:10Oh, my!

0:06:10 > 0:06:13And when I ask a question, with my finger of doom,

0:06:13 > 0:06:15then you have to answer it!

0:06:15 > 0:06:18HE HUMS CREEPY MUSIC

0:06:18 > 0:06:20Finger of doom!

0:06:21 > 0:06:24Er, History is about things that happened in the past.

0:06:24 > 0:06:26Spectacular answer.

0:06:26 > 0:06:30How things happened and when things happened is really important.

0:06:30 > 0:06:33What happens if I try to walk through this door

0:06:33 > 0:06:34without opening it?

0:06:34 > 0:06:36Shall we try it out? OK.

0:06:38 > 0:06:40The Progress Group works with the students

0:06:40 > 0:06:44until they're able to join the main school, but to do that,

0:06:44 > 0:06:47they'll really have to show their teachers that they're ready.

0:06:47 > 0:06:49We're almost there.

0:06:49 > 0:06:54Now I understand the planes reverse, then those cars, then this...

0:06:54 > 0:06:58Mr Smith is a particularly handy choice for Progress Group teacher.

0:06:58 > 0:07:01Like James, he has dyslexia.

0:07:01 > 0:07:05OK, fantastic. By the way, if you see me wearing blue glasses that's

0:07:05 > 0:07:08because I'm dyslexic, I find reading difficult and it helps me out.

0:07:08 > 0:07:11I'm not trying to look cool, because that's impossible.

0:07:11 > 0:07:13Mr Smith, he's a really fun guy

0:07:13 > 0:07:18and he's also had dyslexia and stuff like that.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21Spectacular, what a good answer, that's fantastic.

0:07:21 > 0:07:25So he's been through the whole process and stuff, and, like,

0:07:25 > 0:07:27what I'm going through now.

0:07:27 > 0:07:29Fantastic.

0:07:32 > 0:07:35Meeting Mr Smith has helped James who seems to be

0:07:35 > 0:07:36settling in to life at school.

0:07:36 > 0:07:39Just don't get him started on One Direction

0:07:39 > 0:07:41Do you like One Direction?

0:07:41 > 0:07:42- No! - Oh...

0:07:42 > 0:07:45They're the worst.

0:07:45 > 0:07:46The worst people in the world.

0:07:46 > 0:07:50- Do you know Zayn is getting married? - Who?- Yeah?!

0:07:50 > 0:07:52Zayn's getting married, and he's bought his mum a house.

0:07:52 > 0:07:54Who's Zayn?

0:07:54 > 0:07:55That didn't impress the girls,

0:07:55 > 0:07:58but James is already proving that he's a bit of a whizz at Maths.

0:07:58 > 0:08:02Yes! In your face, Science!

0:08:02 > 0:08:05Or Maths, whatever we're doing.

0:08:05 > 0:08:08You leave me no choice but to give you 10 points.

0:08:08 > 0:08:11- Really?!- Seriously. - Get in there.

0:08:16 > 0:08:18Harry's settling in to school, too.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20Today he's got PE.

0:08:21 > 0:08:24Because he doesn't always do what he's supposed to...

0:08:24 > 0:08:28You're cheating. Go back, do it again, bounce the ball.

0:08:28 > 0:08:31..Harry has a Teaching Assistant with him to keep him focused.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33One more, one more.

0:08:33 > 0:08:36That's it. Brilliant, dribble it back.

0:08:41 > 0:08:43Break time is always busy.

0:08:43 > 0:08:49A noisy new world for Harry to get his head around.

0:08:49 > 0:08:52Like a lot of the Progress Group, he's not keen on crowds

0:08:52 > 0:08:56so Harry likes to hang out in the Learning Support room

0:08:56 > 0:08:58where it's nice and quiet.

0:08:58 > 0:09:01The topic of conversation - dinosaurs.

0:09:02 > 0:09:05..even those from the Prehistoric times.

0:09:05 > 0:09:07What's your favourite kind of dinosaur?

0:09:07 > 0:09:08I like them all.

0:09:08 > 0:09:10Do you not have a favourite?

0:09:10 > 0:09:11Yes, Tyrannosaurus...

0:09:11 > 0:09:13HE LISTS DINOSAURS

0:09:13 > 0:09:15..two hours later...

0:09:15 > 0:09:17THEY LAUGH

0:09:17 > 0:09:19HARRY MUMBLES

0:09:20 > 0:09:21And velociraptor!

0:09:28 > 0:09:33Lessons are OK, but Harry would much rather play Dinosaurs and Monsters.

0:09:33 > 0:09:37Harry is the kind of kid who loves, absolutely loves, dinosaurs.

0:09:37 > 0:09:41Ooh, I found one with dinosaurs on! I think that's Harry's!

0:09:41 > 0:09:44You're now going to tell me something about pirates.

0:09:44 > 0:09:47Put your hand up. Yes, Harry?

0:09:47 > 0:09:49Er, I can't... Sea monsters?

0:09:49 > 0:09:51They're cousins of sea reptiles.

0:09:51 > 0:09:53Yes, but what I'd like you to do is give me

0:09:53 > 0:09:56- something about pirates, Harry. - Yes, sir.

0:09:56 > 0:09:59Harry, do you want to stay in the Progress Group for ever?

0:09:59 > 0:10:03Or do you feel at some point you might be able to move out,

0:10:03 > 0:10:04what do you think?

0:10:04 > 0:10:09Um, I haven't thought of that yet, but I'll let you know if I want to.

0:10:09 > 0:10:12- You'll let me know. - So for now you feel happy in there?

0:10:12 > 0:10:16Yeah, for now, I'm feeling safe. I'll stay with them, just for now.

0:10:16 > 0:10:17OK.

0:10:23 > 0:10:26Meanwhile James' dyslexia is getting him down.

0:10:27 > 0:10:30Reading and writing can be really difficult.

0:10:30 > 0:10:32Can you just read a question out for me?

0:10:32 > 0:10:35- Course I can, do you want me to pop over?- No, it's fine.

0:10:35 > 0:10:39So the floor in one room requires 23 more tiles,

0:10:39 > 0:10:43so we could write it like this, "Plus 23", couldn't we?

0:10:43 > 0:10:44SCHOOL BELL RINGS

0:10:44 > 0:10:46Excellent, you can pack away now.

0:10:46 > 0:10:48Right, once you've packed away, you may go.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51But Mr Smith has spotted James' frustration.

0:10:51 > 0:10:55- James, have you got five minutes? - Yes.

0:10:57 > 0:11:00I just want to have a quick chat with you, all right?

0:11:00 > 0:11:03About how you're feeling, because you and I share the same things.

0:11:03 > 0:11:06We have the same problem, what's the problem that we share?

0:11:06 > 0:11:10- Can't write.- Can't write, yes. What do we call that?

0:11:13 > 0:11:14What's the name for it?

0:11:14 > 0:11:17Beginning with a 'D', what do I call myself all the time?

0:11:17 > 0:11:23- Dyslexic.- Dyslexic. Do you find it frustrating when you have ideas here

0:11:23 > 0:11:26- and you can't get them on the paper? - Yeah, that's the worst.

0:11:26 > 0:11:28Is that the worst bit? I find that the worst as well.

0:11:28 > 0:11:31And a lot of people don't understand that if you find it difficult

0:11:31 > 0:11:35to write, that doesn't mean that you don't understand, does it?

0:11:35 > 0:11:36Yeah?

0:11:36 > 0:11:40Cos it all goes on your writing, it doesn't go on what you know.

0:11:40 > 0:11:41Exactly, right.

0:11:41 > 0:11:46What would you want other people to know about being dyslexic?

0:11:46 > 0:11:48How hard it is.

0:11:48 > 0:11:50How hard, what do you mean by how hard it is?

0:11:50 > 0:11:52Like, um...

0:11:55 > 0:11:57- ..what's the next question? - OK, that's fine.

0:11:57 > 0:12:02What I would want people to know, OK, is that I'm not stupid.

0:12:02 > 0:12:04Because I used to feel,

0:12:04 > 0:12:07when I was at school, that I couldn't think properly.

0:12:07 > 0:12:10I used to think that it was a problem with me.

0:12:10 > 0:12:12But you're really smart, cos you're a teacher!

0:12:12 > 0:12:14Yeah, but I didn't think so when I was at school.

0:12:14 > 0:12:16Everyone else could do all the different things,

0:12:16 > 0:12:18could do all the writing and could read...

0:12:18 > 0:12:20But it doesn't matter, you're a teacher.

0:12:20 > 0:12:22I bet some of your friends aren't a teacher, I bet

0:12:22 > 0:12:24- some of your friends...- That's true.

0:12:24 > 0:12:27..work in ASDA or somewhere like that.

0:12:27 > 0:12:30Well, yeah, but, that's what I want you to think about, you see,

0:12:30 > 0:12:34because I know that it feels really bad right now, OK?

0:12:34 > 0:12:36I know that it does, because I felt that bad. I used to think

0:12:36 > 0:12:40I couldn't do anything, I was rubbish, and then I remember

0:12:40 > 0:12:45exactly the day that I thought, "Actually, I'm quite clever," and

0:12:45 > 0:12:49I was out of school, and somebody was talking and I knew the answer to

0:12:49 > 0:12:52the question and nobody else in the room knew the answer,

0:12:52 > 0:12:54- and I went... - I'd love that.

0:12:54 > 0:12:55"Oh, I'm pretty clever, then!"

0:12:55 > 0:12:57I'd love that, I really would love that.

0:12:57 > 0:13:00And you probably will. You'll find one, and you'll know the answer

0:13:00 > 0:13:02and no-one else will.

0:13:02 > 0:13:05Cos there's other things that we're good at,

0:13:05 > 0:13:07that other people might not be.

0:13:07 > 0:13:08SCHOOL BELL RINGS

0:13:10 > 0:13:13Good to have a chat, OK? Thank you very much, James.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15THEY BOTH EXHALE

0:13:15 > 0:13:16OK?

0:13:22 > 0:13:24A big part of the Progress Group

0:13:24 > 0:13:27is trying to help pupils with their social skills,

0:13:27 > 0:13:31so it's easier for them to make friends, and work together.

0:13:31 > 0:13:36Now, I know for a fact in here, about 70% of you find

0:13:36 > 0:13:39it difficult working with others.

0:13:39 > 0:13:41The class are split into pairs,

0:13:41 > 0:13:44and asked to come up with a presentation together.

0:13:44 > 0:13:47Right, Harry, would you work with Kyra for me, please?

0:13:47 > 0:13:50- Who?- The young lady who's waving at you, would you...

0:13:50 > 0:13:53- I was going... - No, I know, but I want you to work

0:13:53 > 0:13:55with people you wouldn't normally work with.

0:13:55 > 0:13:58Making a connection to other people is something Harry

0:13:58 > 0:13:59often struggles with.

0:14:01 > 0:14:05I know how this could work. You could tell Kyra all about dinosaurs,

0:14:05 > 0:14:08because I know you're a bit of an expert,

0:14:08 > 0:14:10and you're passing on your knowledge and your expertise.

0:14:10 > 0:14:13No, no, no, no, no, no. I'm not doing it.

0:14:13 > 0:14:15I just don't want to do it.

0:14:15 > 0:14:17OK, you don't have a choice, I want you to do it.

0:14:17 > 0:14:21Harry's a bit tricky to get to know because sometimes he listens,

0:14:21 > 0:14:23but sometimes he doesn't.

0:14:23 > 0:14:26Harry's still refusing to talk to Kyra about their presentation.

0:14:27 > 0:14:31Now, listen, Harry, you've got to discuss with Kyra your talk,

0:14:31 > 0:14:33because you're going to be talking in front of the rest

0:14:33 > 0:14:37- of the class about this in, like, five minutes.- Oh, OK.

0:14:57 > 0:15:00There's a picture.

0:15:00 > 0:15:04I enjoyed Jurassic Park because it had all different

0:15:04 > 0:15:05types of dinosaurs.

0:15:05 > 0:15:10There were some tyrannosauruses, velociraptors...

0:15:10 > 0:15:14LISTS DINOSAURS

0:15:14 > 0:15:17..triceratops...

0:15:28 > 0:15:31If Harry's going to make friends at school, he's going

0:15:31 > 0:15:36to have to let other people get to know him, which is hard.

0:15:40 > 0:15:45Every two weeks the Progress Group get to do something unusual.

0:15:45 > 0:15:49This lesson is Fruity Friday.

0:15:49 > 0:15:54So, because it's Fruity Friday, and because you've worked so well,

0:15:54 > 0:15:56this is the reward you get.

0:15:56 > 0:15:59Nobody else in the school gets this!

0:15:59 > 0:16:03As part of Fruity Friday, Mr Smith hands out special

0:16:03 > 0:16:06hats as a reward for the last fortnight's work.

0:16:08 > 0:16:12This one is my bright ideas hat.

0:16:12 > 0:16:16This is for the person who's had the best bright idea or logical

0:16:16 > 0:16:20idea in the last two weeks, and that is going to be Lauren.

0:16:20 > 0:16:22Lauren had some brilliant ideas,

0:16:22 > 0:16:25she has been our best thinker, a round of applause, please!

0:16:26 > 0:16:29Fireman sort out problems, so people that have had a problem

0:16:33 > 0:16:35James, I've seen you help people, so you put that on.

0:16:35 > 0:16:38A round of applause for James, he's been helping people,

0:16:38 > 0:16:40well done, solving problems.

0:16:40 > 0:16:43Fruity Friday is also when the teachers announce if

0:16:43 > 0:16:47anyone's going to leave the Progress Group and return to the main school.

0:16:47 > 0:16:50The first to go is this lad, Leo.

0:16:50 > 0:16:55From Monday onwards, Leo's going to join his tutor group,

0:16:55 > 0:16:59and integrate into all of his lessons with his tutor group.

0:16:59 > 0:17:02That's because the efforts he's shown over the last week

0:17:02 > 0:17:05and a half, and because we feel that he'd be better placed there,

0:17:05 > 0:17:08so well done, Leo, so another round of applause for Leo.

0:17:15 > 0:17:17ALL: Yeah!

0:17:19 > 0:17:23Seeing Leo leave the group has given James plenty to think about.

0:17:28 > 0:17:30Inspired by Leo's success,

0:17:30 > 0:17:33James is in the library at lunchtime to get his head down.

0:17:33 > 0:17:36I've lost my good pen.

0:17:36 > 0:17:39Where's Mr Smith, then?

0:17:39 > 0:17:42- That says Smith. - That doesn't say Smith.

0:17:42 > 0:17:43Well, it does in my world.

0:17:43 > 0:17:46James has been thinking a lot about the Progress Group.

0:17:46 > 0:17:51Coming from the Progress Group, I'd much rather move to the main class.

0:17:51 > 0:17:54Part of it is that he's really missing his friends in main school.

0:17:56 > 0:17:59My friends have been saying that they want me back and stuff cos

0:17:59 > 0:18:03I'm a really fun character and I bring it to the class.

0:18:03 > 0:18:06My plan is to get, like, um, really good

0:18:06 > 0:18:09so I can move out of the Progress Group and I can hopefully start

0:18:09 > 0:18:11getting back.

0:18:11 > 0:18:15So James has a plan, but his friends have other ideas.

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Right, stop it now.

0:18:18 > 0:18:19I need to do my homework.

0:18:19 > 0:18:21Don't play with my pencils!

0:18:24 > 0:18:29If he can get his pens back, maybe James can show what he can do.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31THEY GIGGLE

0:18:39 > 0:18:41Meanwhile, Harry's back in Learning Support,

0:18:41 > 0:18:45and he could be about to make his first friend.

0:18:48 > 0:18:52Has Harry finally met his match in Year 8 student, Ethan?

0:18:52 > 0:18:55Have you seen Clash Of The Titans?

0:18:55 > 0:18:58These guys were all the dinosaurs' relatives,

0:18:58 > 0:19:02and then they evolved into smaller creatures like...

0:19:02 > 0:19:04LISTS DINOSAURS

0:19:04 > 0:19:07It's even bigger, but sometimes it's a huge one,

0:19:07 > 0:19:10like the mighty tyrannosaurus and the triceratops!

0:19:10 > 0:19:13It was bigger than that, like spinosaurus.

0:19:13 > 0:19:15It wasn't a giganotosaurus.

0:19:15 > 0:19:18With Harry, I like the fact that he's into dinosaurs

0:19:18 > 0:19:21because dinosaurs were the first obsession that I had,

0:19:21 > 0:19:25and I know almost everything about them, that we, that humanity knows.

0:19:28 > 0:19:31When was the first time you actually learned about...

0:19:31 > 0:19:34Some of the words they use, I don't even know those words.

0:19:34 > 0:19:36I think putosuchus...

0:19:36 > 0:19:38Postosuchus!

0:19:38 > 0:19:41Postosuchus is actually the ancestor of...

0:19:41 > 0:19:43- Of crocodiles. - Yes.

0:19:43 > 0:19:46It's like having two professors, discussing dinosaurs sometimes.

0:19:46 > 0:19:49Harry seems to have found a friend.

0:19:56 > 0:20:00God knows how... I am actually not angry with you.

0:20:00 > 0:20:01Ow! Ow!

0:20:09 > 0:20:13Right, guys, sandwiches away, otherwise I will eat them!

0:20:13 > 0:20:15Phones away, otherwise I will sell them.

0:20:15 > 0:20:19- Sell them?!- Oh, yeah.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23The Progress Group has Maths with Mr Waterson.

0:20:23 > 0:20:27I'm going to introduce you to probability.

0:20:27 > 0:20:30But first there's a surprise for James.

0:20:30 > 0:20:34I was given these earlier.

0:20:34 > 0:20:36Ah, "What are these?", you ask.

0:20:36 > 0:20:40A good question. I'm not going to tell you because...

0:20:40 > 0:20:43I might know what's in these envelopes but

0:20:43 > 0:20:45they're not addressed to me,

0:20:45 > 0:20:48and they're not addressed to you either,

0:20:48 > 0:20:51so legally speaking, you're not allowed to open these

0:20:51 > 0:20:54because it says "parents" of James Barker.

0:20:54 > 0:20:57I tell you what, in front of the entire class, I need an assurance

0:20:57 > 0:21:00from you that you're not going to open this until you get home.

0:21:00 > 0:21:03He's smiling!

0:21:03 > 0:21:05Right, what happens, do you think,

0:21:05 > 0:21:07if he opens this before he gets home, what shall we make him do?

0:21:07 > 0:21:10- Make a detention. - Give him a detention!

0:21:10 > 0:21:13Super duper. Whoa, whoa, whoa!

0:21:13 > 0:21:15So, do not open it until you get home,

0:21:15 > 0:21:18otherwise you'll be spending some time with me,

0:21:18 > 0:21:21- picking some chewing gum off the underside of tables.- Oh, gross!

0:21:21 > 0:21:22Put in bag.

0:21:27 > 0:21:28Not till you get home.

0:21:28 > 0:21:32Well, today at school I got this envelope off Mr Waterson

0:21:32 > 0:21:35and I wasn't allowed to um...

0:21:35 > 0:21:36Open it.

0:21:36 > 0:21:39Open it, yeah.

0:21:39 > 0:21:42Now I really want to know what's inside it.

0:21:42 > 0:21:43# Dum-dum-dum! #

0:21:43 > 0:21:47- Are you curious about what's in the letter?- Yeah.

0:21:50 > 0:21:52You're just getting me all nervous now, you really are.

0:21:52 > 0:21:53I do apologise.

0:21:57 > 0:22:00Over in Art, speculation is rife,

0:22:00 > 0:22:02what could the letter be?

0:22:03 > 0:22:06"Parents of James Barker."

0:22:06 > 0:22:10Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

0:22:10 > 0:22:11I think that... I'm not sure.

0:22:11 > 0:22:14I tried to look through it but I can't see anything.

0:22:14 > 0:22:16Detention maybe?

0:22:16 > 0:22:19Yeah, it could say you've got six weeks of detention.

0:22:19 > 0:22:22Maybe you might be going to isolation?

0:22:22 > 0:22:24I could... It could say,

0:22:24 > 0:22:27you've been suspended for ever.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30Hopefully, it's good news and not

0:22:30 > 0:22:34bad news cos I don't want it to be bad news cos that won't be good.
