0:03:04 > 0:03:08- Taylor's certainly used to being the centre of attention.- Boom!

0:03:08 > 0:03:11- And whilst she's always entertaining in class...- Aw!

0:03:11 > 0:03:14# You never brought me flowers... #

0:03:14 > 0:03:16..she also performs outside of lessons

0:03:16 > 0:03:19in our school's very own recording studio.

0:03:19 > 0:03:23# So late that my heart feels nothing, nothing at all. #

0:03:25 > 0:03:27I've made my own CD.

0:03:28 > 0:03:32'In ten years' time, I could be walking the red carpet'

0:03:32 > 0:03:36with Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Beyonce, you never know.

0:03:37 > 0:03:40So, it won't surprise you to know that Taylor is the first

0:03:40 > 0:03:42to sign up for the talent show.

0:03:49 > 0:03:51You might remember the cheerleaders have been working as a team

0:03:51 > 0:03:54for weeks now, and they've entered their new routine in the show.

0:03:54 > 0:03:57- You go at back there.- No, no!

0:03:57 > 0:03:59If they can just stop arguing.

0:03:59 > 0:04:00No!

0:04:01 > 0:04:04When we're doing a practice, a lot of time gets wasted on,

0:04:04 > 0:04:09like, arguing and saying about how she's not lifting properly

0:04:09 > 0:04:10or that looks stupid.

0:04:10 > 0:04:13"Oh, no, we shouldn't do that, we should do something like this."

0:04:16 > 0:04:19It looks to me like there's an awful lot of practising to do

0:04:19 > 0:04:22before they'll be able to perform on the big stage

0:04:22 > 0:04:25and stand any chance of winning the competition.

0:04:27 > 0:04:30Come in, Spencer. Take a seat.

0:04:30 > 0:04:34'Spencer's singing voice has won him two talent shows in primary school.'

0:04:34 > 0:04:37- What are you going to sing? - Don't know. I like Ed Sheeran.

0:04:37 > 0:04:40Thinking Out Loud? Let's try it.

0:04:40 > 0:04:43- What, do it now? - Yeah, wait until it kicks in.

0:04:44 > 0:04:46- MUSIC PLAYS - Oh, my God, I'm really nervous.

0:04:48 > 0:04:51- I can't!- Why? - Because.- What have you got?

0:04:51 > 0:04:55If you've won two talent shows, you can't be that shy.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57Don't know, I'm just really nervous.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59'Despite having an early bout of nerves,

0:04:59 > 0:05:02'his track record tells me he might be one of the favourites to win.'

0:05:08 > 0:05:09Girls, come over.

0:05:09 > 0:05:12'Samantha and Megan have been trying to convince Ameera

0:05:12 > 0:05:14'to become the third member of their band.'

0:05:14 > 0:05:18So, Sam and Megan were doing it before, and you...? Yeah.

0:05:18 > 0:05:20They wanted me to join.

0:05:20 > 0:05:24- Do you want to join? - Er, don't know.

0:05:24 > 0:05:27- Do it, do it!- Do it, do it! Come on, please. For me?

0:05:27 > 0:05:29OK, are you going to have a go at Blank Space?

0:05:29 > 0:05:32'Having agreed to join the girl band,

0:05:32 > 0:05:34'Ameera will have to squeeze rehearsals

0:05:34 > 0:05:35'into her already busy day.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41'At school, she's one of the hardest working pupils in Year 7.'

0:05:41 > 0:05:45- So, what is 17 x 17?- 289.- Very nice.

0:05:45 > 0:05:48'And the learning doesn't stop when she gets home to her mum,

0:05:48 > 0:05:52'dad and two sisters in the evenings.'

0:05:52 > 0:05:55- Do you know what 9 x 10 is? - Yeah, 90.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58How do you know that?

0:05:58 > 0:06:01After school, I do maths, GCSE,

0:06:01 > 0:06:03English...

0:06:03 > 0:06:06Sometimes I do my Arabic work.

0:06:06 > 0:06:08SHE SPEAKS ARABIC

0:06:09 > 0:06:13She don't have a break, she just does work, work, work, work,

0:06:13 > 0:06:14work, work, work!

0:06:15 > 0:06:19'After all that studying, there's helping Mum around the house.'

0:06:19 > 0:06:22Sometimes I do get annoyed with how much work we do.

0:06:22 > 0:06:25But sometimes my mum says you don't have to do it if you don't want to.

0:06:25 > 0:06:27It's just that my mum wants me to do well, that's why.

0:06:29 > 0:06:31But GCSEs?

0:06:32 > 0:06:34It's not that hard.

0:06:35 > 0:06:37'Performing in a girl band will certainly be

0:06:37 > 0:06:39'a new experience for Ameera.'

0:06:39 > 0:06:43I just want to hear you sing today, so I don't mind. We can sing

0:06:43 > 0:06:45- Twinkle Twinkle Little Star if you want.- No!

0:06:45 > 0:06:49'So now, our school's answer to Little Mix sing together

0:06:49 > 0:06:51'for the very first time.'

0:06:51 > 0:06:54- OK, I'll sit on the floor, Sam. - Yeah, me too.

0:06:54 > 0:06:56Why are you hiding down on the floor?

0:06:56 > 0:06:59We weren't that confident so we just, like, sat behind the tables

0:06:59 > 0:07:01and sang so he couldn't see us.

0:07:01 > 0:07:04Someone be brave and just start doing it.

0:07:04 > 0:07:05If someone starts doing it, I'll join in.

0:07:07 > 0:07:12- Sam, would you start off?- Wow! - Please?- Yes, I will.- Yes.- Ready?

0:07:12 > 0:07:13SONG STARTS PLAYING

0:07:13 > 0:07:15# Nice to meet you, were you been?

0:07:15 > 0:07:18# I can show you incredible things... #

0:07:18 > 0:07:20THEY MUMBLE

0:07:20 > 0:07:21'That's a start, girls.

0:07:21 > 0:07:24'But I think you'll have to work on your confidence.'

0:07:29 > 0:07:30What are you going to sing?

0:07:30 > 0:07:34I've been thinking about doing Read All About It.

0:07:34 > 0:07:35- Emeli Sande?- Yeah.

0:07:35 > 0:07:38- Oh, I'm scared now.- Don't be scared yet.- I'm getting nervous!

0:07:38 > 0:07:39'Shannon loves singing,

0:07:39 > 0:07:42'and despite her shyness, has signed up for the show.'

0:07:42 > 0:07:45I was going to dedicate it to my brother because he passed away

0:07:45 > 0:07:46when he was quite young.

0:07:49 > 0:07:53She lives at home with her mum and dad and since a young age,

0:07:53 > 0:07:55helped care for her brother, Michael.

0:07:55 > 0:07:57There's the one of Michael, we have it in the living room

0:07:57 > 0:08:00because that's, like, the best picture we've got of him.

0:08:00 > 0:08:02It was him in a tux.

0:08:02 > 0:08:05'When Michael was three-days-old, he had three heart attacks.'

0:08:05 > 0:08:09So, ever since then, he was disabled.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11That was the day on the beach.

0:08:11 > 0:08:13There's you, you kept putting sand on him.

0:08:13 > 0:08:16- I wanted to build him into a sandcastle!- So, what did he do?

0:08:16 > 0:08:18There was a bottle of pop by his feet

0:08:18 > 0:08:21and he kicked the bottle of pop and it went all over you.

0:08:21 > 0:08:25- It was just dripping over your head. - SHE LAUGHS

0:08:25 > 0:08:28'Every day, I'd walk into his room, give him a kiss on the cheek'

0:08:28 > 0:08:31and say, "Good morning, Michael." Open his curtains and everything.

0:08:31 > 0:08:33And I learned to put his feed on

0:08:33 > 0:08:36and I learned how to do his medicines and everything.

0:08:36 > 0:08:39But in the summer before she started Year 7,

0:08:39 > 0:08:42Shannon's family had to face tragedy.

0:08:42 > 0:08:45My brother passed away in the six-week holiday.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52So it's been really hard for me

0:08:52 > 0:08:55to go through the changes, to go to secondary school.

0:08:55 > 0:08:58But honestly, I kept thinking to myself, well, if I think about it,

0:08:58 > 0:09:01right, I'm just going to leave my home issues at home

0:09:01 > 0:09:03and I'm going to try and

0:09:03 > 0:09:06basically start a new life at secondary school.

0:09:06 > 0:09:09I was able to do it, but it's just got so much

0:09:09 > 0:09:13that I carried on juggling everything, and eventually,

0:09:13 > 0:09:15I just dropped everything and I couldn't do it.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17So at school, I did break down quite a lot.

0:09:20 > 0:09:22The stress of losing her brother

0:09:22 > 0:09:26and starting a new school has meant that Shannon's confidence is low.

0:09:30 > 0:09:32- How are you feeling today? - All right.- OK?

0:09:32 > 0:09:34Yeah, it's been an all right week.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36Since September, Sharon has been working with

0:09:36 > 0:09:39teaching assistant Vicki in B2A.

0:09:39 > 0:09:40We're going to do a mood chart first,

0:09:40 > 0:09:42see how you've been feeling today.

0:09:42 > 0:09:47'B2A means Believe To Achieve and it's a place for people

0:09:47 > 0:09:50'who have bereavement issues, anger issues,'

0:09:50 > 0:09:52social anxiety.

0:09:52 > 0:09:55And I got a letter sent home that I needed to be in B2A

0:09:55 > 0:09:57and I was kind of shocked.

0:09:57 > 0:09:59I was like, "Why do I need to be in B2A?"

0:09:59 > 0:10:02'But I'm happy that Believe To Achieve is here

0:10:02 > 0:10:05'because without them, I wouldn't have been able to

0:10:05 > 0:10:07'deal with the grief of losing my brother.'

0:10:07 > 0:10:09OK, so the next one is,

0:10:09 > 0:10:13- "How does your body show that you're unhappy?"- My hands shake a lot.

0:10:13 > 0:10:16- And my...- Yeah, and your shoulders are a bit down, aren't they?

0:10:16 > 0:10:18Yeah, I usually slouch a lot as well.

0:10:19 > 0:10:22'I think she's had to deal with quite a lot.'

0:10:22 > 0:10:25Especially coming up to Year 7 and dealing with a bereavement.

0:10:25 > 0:10:28But she talks quite openly, which is really good.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31And it's a real credit to her, really.

0:10:31 > 0:10:34So, how much of the time do you feel unhappy? How much?

0:10:34 > 0:10:38Say in a week, in one week, how many times do you feel unhappy?

0:10:38 > 0:10:43Erm, about two days out of seven now cos it used to be like five.

0:10:43 > 0:10:45That's quite a large cut down.

0:10:45 > 0:10:48And so, you're able to cope with it a lot better. Good.

0:10:48 > 0:10:51And why is that? What's the difference?

0:10:51 > 0:10:53Cos I think it's because I've found, like,

0:10:53 > 0:10:55found hobbies and things.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58Cos I do sing every night, so it...

0:10:58 > 0:11:01Even when I had a really bad throat on Wednesday,

0:11:01 > 0:11:03I was in my bedroom singing to myself, so...

0:11:03 > 0:11:05Good, good.

0:11:05 > 0:11:07If that's the way it helps you get, you know, it releases you,

0:11:07 > 0:11:09it makes you happy, then, you know,

0:11:09 > 0:11:11whatever it takes for you to make you happy.

0:11:11 > 0:11:13'I always see a smile on her face'

0:11:13 > 0:11:15but she must be hurting so much inside.

0:11:15 > 0:11:18'But she's got something in there that's bursting to come out,

0:11:18 > 0:11:20'like creativity.

0:11:20 > 0:11:22'Like, her art and her poems, there's just something'

0:11:22 > 0:11:25that's just waiting to go pow,

0:11:25 > 0:11:27and hopefully we'll see that in Greenwood.

0:11:31 > 0:11:32Over in the main hall...

0:11:32 > 0:11:37# Go ahead and tell them Tell them I was happy... #

0:11:37 > 0:11:39Rehearsals for the big talent show are underway.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42- Ugh! It's not going right. - That was...- No, it wasn't!

0:11:42 > 0:11:45But as usual, the cheerleaders are still spending

0:11:45 > 0:11:47more time arguing than practising.

0:11:49 > 0:11:52THEY TALK OVER EACH OTHER

0:11:52 > 0:11:59- ALL:- # Baby, my heart could still fall as hard at 23. #

0:11:59 > 0:12:03'Meanwhile, Megan, Sam and Ameera are now up on their feet

0:12:03 > 0:12:05'and in full flow.'

0:12:05 > 0:12:10# People fall in love in mysterious ways. #

0:12:10 > 0:12:11Bit louder for me.

0:12:11 > 0:12:14# Maybe just the touch of your hand. #

0:12:16 > 0:12:18'They have potential,

0:12:18 > 0:12:21'but I want to hear what they sound like singing solo.'

0:12:21 > 0:12:24Would you sing on your own? I want to hear you separately.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26Who's first?

0:12:27 > 0:12:30- I'm not going first, then. - OK, I'll go first.

0:12:30 > 0:12:32'How about that?

0:12:32 > 0:12:34'Ameera wasn't even going to enter the talent show

0:12:34 > 0:12:35'when I first announced it.

0:12:35 > 0:12:38'Now she's brave enough to attempt singing solo.'

0:12:39 > 0:12:40Just the first bit, though.

0:12:40 > 0:12:43Well, I'll tell you when to stop cos I'm kind of... Hmm, yes.

0:12:43 > 0:12:46- You'll tell me when to stop?- Kind of.- What if I want to hear more?

0:12:46 > 0:12:50- That was like...- So, nice and confident. You have an audience.

0:12:52 > 0:12:53No, I...

0:12:53 > 0:12:57# No, I can't take one more step towards you. #

0:12:57 > 0:12:58Good.

0:12:58 > 0:13:01# Cos all that's waiting is regret. #

0:13:01 > 0:13:03- Very low, isn't it?- Yeah.

0:13:05 > 0:13:11# And don't you know I'm not your ghost any more

0:13:11 > 0:13:14# You lost the love I loved the most. #

0:13:16 > 0:13:19You've got a really nice tone to your voice, really strong.

0:13:19 > 0:13:21Cos I think there's one thing singing in a group,

0:13:21 > 0:13:23but it's a bit harder to do it on your own, I think.

0:13:23 > 0:13:25But if you do that, I just think that your confidence then

0:13:25 > 0:13:27will just go through the roof.

0:13:27 > 0:13:29'Following Ameera's lead, Sam sings next.'

0:13:29 > 0:13:33- # Cause I'm cruising... - # Can't stop, won't stop moving

0:13:35 > 0:13:37- Yes!- Ah! Oh, my God, I'm not doing that again.

0:13:37 > 0:13:40# In my mind, singing it's going to be all right. #

0:13:40 > 0:13:43So, you have got a dance to it? Was that a made-up dance?

0:13:43 > 0:13:47- Yeah, pretty much. # Cos I'm going to...#- Whoa!

0:13:47 > 0:13:49- Just dropped 10p.- Yay!

0:13:49 > 0:13:50Shouldn't I be throwing money at you?

0:13:51 > 0:13:54OK, hang on, hang on, hang on, hang on.

0:13:54 > 0:13:57- So, is this dance you've worked out at home, yeah?- Yeah.

0:13:57 > 0:13:59OK, that's cool.

0:13:59 > 0:14:01So, why don't you just do a dance separately?

0:14:02 > 0:14:04- Yeah.- What do you think?- Yeah.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07Yeah, so you don't have to worry about singing it.

0:14:07 > 0:14:08OK, work on the dance.

0:14:08 > 0:14:10'Sam's energetic dance routine

0:14:10 > 0:14:14'and Ameera's brave solo performance has impressed their friend Megan.'

0:14:21 > 0:14:24But while some people are rehearsing hard...

0:14:24 > 0:14:26Oh, I forgot the words!

0:14:26 > 0:14:29..Spencer hasn't yet shown up to any rehearsals.

0:14:31 > 0:14:33And neither has Shannon.

0:14:34 > 0:14:36Having signed up for the talent show,

0:14:36 > 0:14:38she's now having second thoughts.

0:14:38 > 0:14:41And youth worker Sean wants to find out what the problem is.

0:14:43 > 0:14:46- How do you feel?- I'm scared. - What are you scared for?

0:14:46 > 0:14:48I'm scared that, like, when I'm singing, I'm going to like,

0:14:48 > 0:14:51my voice is going to break in the middle of it or something.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53'I do feel like I might drop out.

0:14:53 > 0:14:56'I'll be embarrassed in front of everyone.'

0:14:56 > 0:14:58And, like, I'm really scared that if I mess up, everyone's

0:14:58 > 0:15:02going to see me different and, like, everyone's going to make fun of me.

0:15:02 > 0:15:05It's just a bit nerve-racking.

0:15:05 > 0:15:08My idea is for you to build a little bit of confidence.

0:15:09 > 0:15:11It will help you long-term.

0:15:12 > 0:15:15Shannon's a lack of confidence seems to be holding her back.

0:15:16 > 0:15:18And in Believe To Achieve,

0:15:18 > 0:15:21Vicki has come up with an idea that she hopes might help.

0:15:22 > 0:15:25She wants her to write a message to her brother on a balloon

0:15:25 > 0:15:27and release it into the air.

0:15:27 > 0:15:29- IT POPS - Whoa!

0:15:29 > 0:15:31That's not the best start.

0:15:31 > 0:15:33Luckily, Vicki's got another balloon.

0:15:35 > 0:15:37IT POPS

0:15:37 > 0:15:39- It happened again! - SHE GIGGLES

0:15:39 > 0:15:42Enter the last balloon. Don't burst this one.

0:15:44 > 0:15:48Shannon finally gets to write her a message to Michael.

0:15:48 > 0:15:50"You'll always be remembered."

0:15:52 > 0:15:54And they head outside to release it.

0:15:56 > 0:16:01So, when we have a thought or a feeling, sometimes we're going to,

0:16:01 > 0:16:04sometimes you just want to, like, say it and let it go.

0:16:04 > 0:16:05Sort of thing, so...

0:16:07 > 0:16:10"You will always be remembered, Michael."

0:16:10 > 0:16:11Oop! Bye!

0:16:11 > 0:16:13- That didn't work, did it? - SHE LAUGHS

0:16:19 > 0:16:22I think I gained a lot out of it by letting the balloon go in the air.

0:16:22 > 0:16:26And I feel like I can just finally

0:16:26 > 0:16:28not stress about it too much.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30And I think that's what Vicki

0:16:30 > 0:16:33tries to help me do, and I think she has really helped me.

0:16:34 > 0:16:36'She's quite mature inside.

0:16:36 > 0:16:39'I think she understands her body and her mind quite well.

0:16:39 > 0:16:42'Which, you know, with the things she's gone through,

0:16:42 > 0:16:43'I suppose she's had to

0:16:43 > 0:16:46'grow up and face them fears early on.'

0:16:53 > 0:16:56# You never brought me flowers. #

0:16:56 > 0:16:58By now, rehearsals are in full swing.

0:16:59 > 0:17:02And Taylor-Jay shows them all how it's done.

0:17:02 > 0:17:05# Heart feels nothing Nothing at all. #

0:17:05 > 0:17:08'I enjoy it when I'm on stage'

0:17:08 > 0:17:10because I've got the confidence.

0:17:12 > 0:17:15Sam's practising her dance routine with Julie.

0:17:15 > 0:17:18- MUSIC: Shake It Off by Taylor Swift - OK, keep going.

0:17:18 > 0:17:20But it's not going so well for everyone.

0:17:21 > 0:17:23# I give you all... #

0:17:25 > 0:17:27OK, OK. That started off bad.

0:17:27 > 0:17:30It got better and then when you did the "Oooh"...

0:17:30 > 0:17:32That didn't work great.

0:17:34 > 0:17:37'In the main hall, acts are rehearsing on the big stage.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41'And Ameera is up next to practise in front of an audience

0:17:41 > 0:17:43'for the first time.'

0:17:43 > 0:17:44Ameera?

0:17:45 > 0:17:51- No.- Not yet?- No, not yet.- All right. - At the end, we'll do it.

0:17:51 > 0:17:52Why have you gone scared, girls?

0:17:52 > 0:17:54I can't sing in front of these people.

0:17:54 > 0:17:57- Why?- Because... - You'll be perfectly fine.

0:17:58 > 0:18:00Do you want to get through everyone else first

0:18:00 > 0:18:03- and then get rid of people?- Yes.

0:18:03 > 0:18:05Yeah, we'll do that for today only.

0:18:05 > 0:18:09'That's worrying. There are only a few people watching this rehearsal.

0:18:10 > 0:18:13'Ameera is going to have to overcome her nerves quickly

0:18:13 > 0:18:16'if she's to perform in front of a full audience on the big night.'

0:18:16 > 0:18:18Moving into positions. Five, six, seven, eight.

0:18:18 > 0:18:20One, two, three, four, five...

0:18:20 > 0:18:23'The cheerleaders have made it onto the big stage.'

0:18:23 > 0:18:25Two, three, four...

0:18:25 > 0:18:27'But there's still tension within the group,

0:18:27 > 0:18:29'and its showing in their performance.'

0:18:29 > 0:18:31Three, two, one. Smiles!

0:18:33 > 0:18:35THEY GIGGLE

0:18:35 > 0:18:36- If I don't hold you...- OK, so...

0:18:38 > 0:18:40I think you could do with a bit more of a smiley face..

0:18:40 > 0:18:43Are you worried about something over there?

0:18:43 > 0:18:45Whatever goes on before your audition,

0:18:45 > 0:18:49your face needs to tell the judges that you love this and you love

0:18:49 > 0:18:52coming to cheerleading cos it's such a fun time for everybody.

0:18:52 > 0:18:55So, that's not going to happen if our faces look like this.

0:18:58 > 0:19:00OK?

0:19:00 > 0:19:01'Trevor was trying to make everyone smile'

0:19:01 > 0:19:04and we weren't in the mood to smile at all.

0:19:04 > 0:19:05I couldn't smile, I was like,

0:19:05 > 0:19:08"No."

0:19:08 > 0:19:09Go.

0:19:09 > 0:19:12See, you've got a forced smile there.

0:19:12 > 0:19:14OK, get your arms out.

0:19:14 > 0:19:16One, two, three, drop.

0:19:16 > 0:19:18OK, better.

0:19:18 > 0:19:19'It's going to take a lot of work'

0:19:19 > 0:19:22with the cheerleading team to get the routine, like,

0:19:22 > 0:19:24as we want it to be.

0:19:24 > 0:19:25One, two, three, four...

0:19:25 > 0:19:28'But we could have a rehearsal and everything could, like,

0:19:28 > 0:19:31'go so well and then like, on the actual, like day...'

0:19:31 > 0:19:32Someone might break her ankle.

0:19:32 > 0:19:35- Someone might break the ankle or something.- Or break their neck.

0:19:35 > 0:19:37Oh, Taylor! Oh, my God!

0:19:37 > 0:19:40Let's hope things don't get that bad, girls.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47- TEACHER:- Keep your voice down. Get started on your work.

0:19:47 > 0:19:48Please continue, Darnell,

0:19:48 > 0:19:50because I'd love to have you back for detention.

0:19:50 > 0:19:52Or you could just do your work.

0:19:52 > 0:19:55'Another one of my big hopefuls for the talent show hasn't shown up

0:19:55 > 0:19:57'for any of the rehearsals.'

0:19:57 > 0:19:59Hi, Miss, can I just grab Spencer for two minutes? Is that OK?

0:19:59 > 0:20:00- Spencer?- Thanks very much.

0:20:00 > 0:20:04'I want to find out why he hasn't been practising for the competition.

0:20:04 > 0:20:06'Especially since he used to do so well

0:20:06 > 0:20:08'in his primary school talent shows.'

0:20:08 > 0:20:13- And you won that?- Yeah, twice. - Twice. Two years running?- Yeah.

0:20:13 > 0:20:18So, for me, all this is kind of the same thing but bigger.

0:20:18 > 0:20:23- But just like 100 more people. - But you're a performer.

0:20:23 > 0:20:25You like doing this sort of stuff,

0:20:25 > 0:20:27like, you're excited about the fact there's all lights

0:20:27 > 0:20:30and the sound system and mics and everything like that.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32Yeah, well, I want to do it but, like,

0:20:32 > 0:20:36I don't know because I don't want to mess up, don't want to go wrong.

0:20:36 > 0:20:37Well, that's why I just quite want

0:20:37 > 0:20:40to just hear a little bit of this song, really.

0:20:40 > 0:20:41I like this song and I think it will suit you.

0:20:41 > 0:20:43I've got to sing this now?

0:20:43 > 0:20:46- Just for me, just kind of pretend no-one else is here.- Oh, OK.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50MUSIC PLAYS

0:20:50 > 0:20:53- So I've got to do it now, then? - You've got to do it now! Ready?

0:20:55 > 0:20:59# You know I'm not one to break promises. #

0:20:59 > 0:21:00Love it, that's good.

0:21:02 > 0:21:06# I don't want to hurt you but I need to breathe

0:21:09 > 0:21:13# At the end of it all You're still my best friend. #

0:21:15 > 0:21:16Just enjoy it, it's good.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20# But there's something inside that I need to release. #

0:21:27 > 0:21:28Bow down to you.

0:21:29 > 0:21:31It's that good.

0:21:31 > 0:21:34- You really are, you've got a really nice tone to your voice.- Thanks.

0:21:34 > 0:21:36Confidence, you've won stuff in the past.

0:21:36 > 0:21:40The only problem is just getting you to come to rehearsals.

0:21:40 > 0:21:43I just, I'm imagining your talent show and I'm imagining

0:21:43 > 0:21:46all your year and people that know you going, "He's good, isn't he?"

0:21:46 > 0:21:49And people who've never heard you sing before just going like,

0:21:49 > 0:21:51"Wow!" Cos it's good.

0:21:53 > 0:21:57I like singing, it's like a passion to me.

0:21:57 > 0:21:59I can see that.

0:21:59 > 0:22:02Like, if I'm annoyed at someone or I'm not in a good mood, like,

0:22:02 > 0:22:05singing will basically cheer me up, like.

0:22:05 > 0:22:06- But like...- Good to hear.

0:22:07 > 0:22:11I just think that if you go out and sing as well is you sang,

0:22:11 > 0:22:13perform it, love it, lap it up, you're saying it's a passion,

0:22:13 > 0:22:15then show it's a passion.

0:22:15 > 0:22:17- I'm up for it, yeah.- Up for it!

0:22:17 > 0:22:21- See, I'm putting up a fight against Taylor, I am.- That's cool, though.

0:22:21 > 0:22:23Because like, everyone is like,

0:22:23 > 0:22:28"Oh, I might be the best boy singer in Year 7 and like,

0:22:28 > 0:22:30they're like, "Taylor's the best girl singer"

0:22:30 > 0:22:32so I'm putting up a fight.

0:22:32 > 0:22:34But that's what you've got to do, isn't it?

0:22:34 > 0:22:35You've just got to dive in, go for it.

0:22:35 > 0:22:38If you're giving it some when you're singing that song...

0:22:38 > 0:22:41I mean, I'm going to try my best and like, give it all I've got

0:22:41 > 0:22:43because, like, I'm in it to win it.

0:22:43 > 0:22:45Sick!

0:22:45 > 0:22:47That's really cool that you're in it to win it.

0:22:47 > 0:22:50'It looks like I've managed to change Spencer's mind.

0:22:50 > 0:22:53'He's up for it now and he's got Taylor-Jay in his sights.'

0:22:53 > 0:22:56# I feel love when I see your face

0:22:56 > 0:23:00# But all these thoughts I can't replace

0:23:00 > 0:23:03# Sorry, honey Sorry, honey

0:23:03 > 0:23:06# But we'll have to start again. #

0:23:06 > 0:23:09'It's the final day of rehearsals before the talent show

0:23:09 > 0:23:12'and things are starting to come together for everyone.'

0:23:12 > 0:23:13Spencer! Spencer!

0:23:14 > 0:23:17# I'm not the one to break promises. #

0:23:17 > 0:23:19Yay!

0:23:19 > 0:23:21'Finally, Spencer puts in an appearance.

0:23:21 > 0:23:25'And like Taylor-Jay, his performance is going down a storm.'

0:23:25 > 0:23:30# And it feels like I am just too close to love you. #

0:23:30 > 0:23:32'And at the last moment,

0:23:32 > 0:23:35'even the cheerleaders are working well together as a team.

0:23:35 > 0:23:37'And smiling!'

0:23:37 > 0:23:38Seven, eight. Two, two!

0:23:41 > 0:23:42'Thanks for that, Leo.'

0:23:42 > 0:23:45Where do I have to hold this? Here?

0:23:45 > 0:23:48Yeah, just relax. Stand on that cross.

0:23:50 > 0:23:51Just give it a go.

0:23:51 > 0:23:53'Up on stage in the main hall,

0:23:53 > 0:23:57'it's Ameera's last chance to get it right before the big event.'

0:23:57 > 0:23:59MUSIC PLAYS

0:23:59 > 0:24:02- Er, can I start again? - Yeah. So, it starts straightaway.

0:24:02 > 0:24:04Start again. OK. Ready?

0:24:08 > 0:24:11# No, I can't take one more step towards you. #

0:24:11 > 0:24:12Yes!

0:24:14 > 0:24:16# Cos all that's waiting is regret

0:24:21 > 0:24:25# And don't you know I'm not your ghost any more

0:24:26 > 0:24:29# You lost the love I love the most

0:24:33 > 0:24:38# I learned to live half alive

0:24:40 > 0:24:43# And now you want me one more time. #

0:24:50 > 0:24:52You've made, like, the most incredible journey.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55In fact, you didn't even sing the first time I've seen you, like.

0:24:55 > 0:24:58- I know!- I don't even think you were supposed to be there, were you?

0:24:58 > 0:24:59- No.- You joined in.

0:24:59 > 0:25:01And then you've gone from that to singing on your own,

0:25:01 > 0:25:03just stood at the computer

0:25:03 > 0:25:05and not really having a huge amount of confidence.

0:25:05 > 0:25:09And then you're up there doing it, in a big hall like this.

0:25:09 > 0:25:11- And, like, with confidence as well. - Thank you.

0:25:11 > 0:25:13You've got really good control over your voice.

0:25:13 > 0:25:17I think that you've got a really strong chance of doing

0:25:17 > 0:25:19- really well in the talent show. - Thank you.

0:25:19 > 0:25:22- Well done, you should be really proud.- Thank you.- Thank you.

0:25:22 > 0:25:23'How amazing!

0:25:23 > 0:25:26'Ameera has gone from being a nervous member of Sam's girl group

0:25:26 > 0:25:30'to standing on stage alone and giving a great performance.

0:25:31 > 0:25:34It finally seems we've got everybody over their nerves

0:25:34 > 0:25:36and ready for the big show.

0:25:38 > 0:25:39All except one.

0:25:41 > 0:25:44Despite all our efforts to talk Shannon into performing,

0:25:44 > 0:25:46she still hasn't been to one rehearsal.

0:25:48 > 0:25:50And even though Sean, Vicki and I all think

0:25:50 > 0:25:54performing in the talent show might really boost her confidence,

0:25:54 > 0:25:56I've now heard she's dropped out completely.

0:26:00 > 0:26:02You suggested earlier that you didn't want to do

0:26:02 > 0:26:03the talent show any more.

0:26:03 > 0:26:05And I'd quite like to know why and see

0:26:05 > 0:26:08if there's anything we can do to kind of sway you a little bit.

0:26:09 > 0:26:10I don't think there is.

0:26:10 > 0:26:14I think I just rushed into it too fast without thinking.

0:26:14 > 0:26:18- Hello, Sean.- Hello.- I mentioned to Sean that you were a bit worried.

0:26:18 > 0:26:20So, what are your concerns, then?

0:26:20 > 0:26:23See, the thing was, the reason I didn't want to do it was

0:26:23 > 0:26:26because I didn't actually care about winning the talent show

0:26:26 > 0:26:28when I first heard about it.

0:26:28 > 0:26:31What I wanted to do was sing and dedicate it to my brother.

0:26:31 > 0:26:34And if it wasn't good enough, like, I would have been upset

0:26:34 > 0:26:36cos it wasn't good enough for my brother.

0:26:36 > 0:26:39That's a fair thing to say.

0:26:39 > 0:26:41The fact that you're not doing it to win it,

0:26:41 > 0:26:44that says something really good about you as well to me.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47Cos it's about you doing it for other reasons.

0:26:59 > 0:27:01from doing it is worth a whole lot more.

0:27:02 > 0:27:05Number one, do it for yourself.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07Number two, do it for your bro.

0:27:07 > 0:27:10Number three, do it for me cos I'll be gutted if you're not there.
