0:01:05 > 0:01:06I need a wee.

0:01:09 > 0:01:11At first, Year 7 can feel

0:01:11 > 0:01:13like stepping into the unknown,

0:01:13 > 0:01:15but nowadays, everyone has

0:01:15 > 0:01:17- at least one friend in their bag... - One, two, three.

0:01:25 > 0:01:27Give me your phone. Thank you very much.

0:01:27 > 0:01:29..at the touch of a button.

0:01:29 > 0:01:33Phones should not be allowed in lessons, and you know that.

0:01:33 > 0:01:35Do not push the boundaries.

0:01:35 > 0:01:38- IN SILLY VOICE:- Take that bit off. Thank you.

0:01:41 > 0:01:46Today, we meet two of our school's most social media-savvy kids.

0:01:46 > 0:01:47Ow.

0:01:47 > 0:01:50Aspiring vlogger, Leo...

0:01:50 > 0:01:52It's, like, a millisecond off.

0:01:52 > 0:01:54..and selfie queen, Kiara.

0:01:54 > 0:01:56Right, morning, year seven.

0:01:56 > 0:01:58It's art, and Miss Crowther's class

0:01:58 > 0:02:00are interviewing each other for a project.

0:02:02 > 0:02:06Jay! Let me interview you. I don't know you.

0:02:09 > 0:02:11This is Kiara,

0:02:11 > 0:02:14our school's most skilled selfie-taker.

0:02:14 > 0:02:18# I don't care, I love it

0:02:18 > 0:02:20# I don't care... #

0:02:23 > 0:02:25My phone's really important to me,

0:02:25 > 0:02:27when I don't break it.

0:02:27 > 0:02:28I've broke it twice now.

0:02:28 > 0:02:32# I don't care, I love it... #

0:02:32 > 0:02:33I would say I'm quite confident.

0:02:36 > 0:02:40- SHE LAUGHS - I like...

0:02:40 > 0:02:44my clothes, and my phone.

0:02:44 > 0:02:48My wish is to have a million pounds.

0:02:48 > 0:02:50I wouldn't mind that either.

0:02:50 > 0:02:51With a million pounds,

0:02:51 > 0:02:55I think I would give some to my mum and my dad,

0:02:55 > 0:03:00and then I'd probably get myself a car and a place to live in

0:03:00 > 0:03:03and loads of clothes and loads of make-up and loads of shoes.

0:03:03 > 0:03:06# I don't care, I love it. #

0:03:09 > 0:03:12Kiara's settled in nicely at our school.

0:03:13 > 0:03:16My approach to the situation was, like,

0:03:16 > 0:03:17when you got here, you should just

0:03:17 > 0:03:21be, like, yourself and then you will make friends in the end

0:03:21 > 0:03:24because everyone has got a friendship group now.

0:03:24 > 0:03:25Hello!

0:03:25 > 0:03:28And at home, Kiara's phone is a link to her friends.

0:03:28 > 0:03:30Hello.

0:03:30 > 0:03:32It's even her personal stylist.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34It takes me quite a long time to get ready in the mornings.

0:03:34 > 0:03:37Like, cos I'm like, "What to wear? What to wear?"

0:03:37 > 0:03:40That's why I facetime people in the mornings.

0:03:40 > 0:03:43- Hi.- Hello. What time are you leaving?

0:03:43 > 0:03:47- About five minutes. - OK, then. I'll leave now.

0:03:47 > 0:03:48- OK, see you in a minute, bye.- Bye.

0:03:50 > 0:03:51Heard it all now.

0:03:51 > 0:03:55It is how you keep in touch with people, through social media.

0:03:55 > 0:03:57If you use it in the right way, then it's good.

0:04:06 > 0:04:10Sometimes it can be difficult to use social media in the right way,

0:04:10 > 0:04:11especially at school,

0:04:11 > 0:04:15and that can cause a headache for head of year Miss Richardson.

0:04:16 > 0:04:19At Greenwood Academy, we have zones where you can and you cannot

0:04:19 > 0:04:21use your phone. There are three of these zones.

0:04:21 > 0:04:23Red zone, you're not allowed to use your phone at all,

0:04:23 > 0:04:27and green zones, you are allowed, at your pleasure, to use your phones.

0:04:27 > 0:04:29Amber zone, it's up to the teacher, really,

0:04:29 > 0:04:31if you can or can't use that phone.

0:04:31 > 0:04:33If a teacher says no, it means no.

0:04:35 > 0:04:36But despite Mr Elliott

0:04:36 > 0:04:39declaring today's English lesson a no phone zone,

0:04:39 > 0:04:42I think it's fair to say that a few of you

0:04:42 > 0:04:44are somewhere you really shouldn't be.

0:04:48 > 0:04:50First and last warning, Jono.

0:04:50 > 0:04:52Phone out again, it's mine for the rest of the lesson.

0:04:52 > 0:04:54What? I've just got it out. I've just got it out.

0:04:54 > 0:04:55OK. Put it away.

0:04:55 > 0:04:57Millie, show your phone.

0:04:57 > 0:04:59Didn't you two just see each other?

0:04:59 > 0:05:02OK, year sevens, back to your seats. Thank you very much.

0:05:02 > 0:05:06Mr Elliott is testing the class on their presentation skills,

0:05:06 > 0:05:07and it's Kiara's moment.

0:05:08 > 0:05:11Three, two, one.

0:05:11 > 0:05:15"All the world's a stage, and all the men and women are merely..."

0:05:15 > 0:05:18- BOY MUMBLES - Darnell.

0:05:18 > 0:05:21"..and they all have their exits and entrances"

0:05:21 > 0:05:23But while Thomas looks innocent,

0:05:23 > 0:05:25under the table, his phone is out

0:05:25 > 0:05:27and he's taking photos.

0:05:27 > 0:05:29"..seven..."

0:05:29 > 0:05:32- No, Thomas is videoing this, and I don't want him to video me.- OK.

0:05:32 > 0:05:33Thomas... Kiara you can start again.

0:05:33 > 0:05:37- Guys...- I don't want to start again. - OK, finish it.

0:05:37 > 0:05:41Erm... "..and he has seven parts in his life."

0:05:41 > 0:05:44- OK, good. Well done. - APPLAUSE

0:05:44 > 0:05:46And it's not just Thomas.

0:05:46 > 0:05:47- No!- Can't rob my phone.

0:05:47 > 0:05:50Darnell has taken a picture on his phone, too.

0:05:50 > 0:05:54Mr Elliott explains why taking pictures without permission

0:05:54 > 0:05:56can lead to BIG trouble.

0:05:56 > 0:05:58If somebody finds out that you guys are passing around

0:05:58 > 0:06:01pictures of other people, that is not a good thing.

0:06:01 > 0:06:03I'll make another...make a few announcements.

0:06:03 > 0:06:05Year sevens, let me just remind you guys.

0:06:05 > 0:06:08First of all, unless I say you can have your phones out,

0:06:08 > 0:06:10there's no phones out allowed, ever.

0:06:10 > 0:06:13Second of all, it is a very, very bad thing to do

0:06:13 > 0:06:16to be taking pictures of other people without their permission.

0:06:16 > 0:06:19It's invading their privacy, and it's not OK.

0:06:19 > 0:06:20Easy, sir.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23Mr Elliott's right, so why allow phones in class at all?

0:06:23 > 0:06:25Some schools do not allow students

0:06:25 > 0:06:28to use their mobile phones at all in the building.

0:06:28 > 0:06:30At our school, we do allow that.

0:06:30 > 0:06:31So, in design technology,

0:06:31 > 0:06:33we try and use them to take pictures of products

0:06:33 > 0:06:34that we may have made.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37In maths, we use it a lot for our calculators,

0:06:37 > 0:06:40and sometimes in English, they try and use it for an online dictionary.

0:06:40 > 0:06:43We know everyone has a phone, so why not make the most of it?

0:06:44 > 0:06:47So, there are plenty of good reasons for having phones in lessons...

0:06:47 > 0:06:49SCHOOL BELL RINGS

0:06:49 > 0:06:52..but the temptation to use them when you shouldn't

0:06:52 > 0:06:53is too much for some.

0:06:53 > 0:06:54Phones in class is hard

0:06:54 > 0:06:56because it's on the table there in front of you,

0:06:56 > 0:06:58and you're like, "No, don't do it, Cerys."

0:06:58 > 0:07:00No, it wasn't me.

0:07:00 > 0:07:02No, it wasn't me.

0:07:02 > 0:07:05Well, you get your books and then you, like, read your books,

0:07:05 > 0:07:07but you've got your phone there like this.

0:07:07 > 0:07:09And the teacher's like, "What are you doing?

0:07:09 > 0:07:10I'm like, "Nothing, just reading my book."

0:07:10 > 0:07:12I do not text, Shelby, I do not call anyone.

0:07:12 > 0:07:14Yeah, you do. You're always texting me.

0:07:14 > 0:07:17Not you. Here you can check my message...

0:07:17 > 0:07:18No, thanks.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21Oh, I've got a message...of...

0:07:23 > 0:07:24One second, sorry.

0:07:26 > 0:07:28KEYBOARD CLICKS

0:07:28 > 0:07:29I've got a good trick,

0:07:29 > 0:07:30cos, like, when a teacher finds out

0:07:30 > 0:07:32that you have your phone there,

0:07:32 > 0:07:33you go like...you go like,

0:07:33 > 0:07:36"Oh, Miss, I was just checking the time."

0:07:36 > 0:07:38- Good one. - SHE SNIGGERS

0:07:38 > 0:07:40- Boys get away with it as well... - Yeah, I know.

0:07:40 > 0:07:42..cos, like, they've got their headphone,

0:07:42 > 0:07:44they put it all the way down their sleeve,

0:07:44 > 0:07:45- and then sit like that.- Yeah.

0:07:45 > 0:07:47And then they get away with it.

0:07:47 > 0:07:48OK, bye.

0:07:50 > 0:07:53Ooh. She was speaking to me...

0:07:55 > 0:07:57People use mobile phones in class.

0:07:57 > 0:08:01Not me, though, cos I'm a good girl. Nah!

0:08:01 > 0:08:03SCHOOL BELL RINGS

0:08:06 > 0:08:10Over in the canteen, the phones are also out

0:08:10 > 0:08:13- but for a very different reason. - Three, two, one...go!

0:08:14 > 0:08:16- BOYS:- All teachers have got a superpower!

0:08:18 > 0:08:22This is Leo, and he's starring in a film.

0:08:22 > 0:08:24More about that later.

0:08:24 > 0:08:26Yeah!

0:08:26 > 0:08:30Leo is one of the most energetic kids of Year 7.

0:08:30 > 0:08:32When I grow up, I'd like to be a rugby player

0:08:32 > 0:08:33for the Welsh rugby team,

0:08:33 > 0:08:36cos I'm kind of half Welsh.

0:08:37 > 0:08:39- TEACHER BLOWS WHISTLE - Go.

0:08:42 > 0:08:43Pass.

0:08:46 > 0:08:47He's not going to be

0:08:47 > 0:08:49- a rugby player.- Yes, I am!

0:08:49 > 0:08:50Look how small you are.

0:08:50 > 0:08:52Well done, you two.

0:08:52 > 0:08:53Hey. Well done.

0:08:54 > 0:08:57LEO CHUCKLES

0:08:57 > 0:09:00But the move to Greenwood hasn't been as easy for Leo

0:09:00 > 0:09:02as it has for others.

0:09:04 > 0:09:07What is it like to experience autism?

0:09:07 > 0:09:09When you first know that you've got it,

0:09:09 > 0:09:12you don't really understand what it is,

0:09:12 > 0:09:15but after a while, you kind of learn to live with it.

0:09:16 > 0:09:20Leo has lived with ADHD since he was five,

0:09:20 > 0:09:23but more recently was also diagnosed with autism.

0:09:25 > 0:09:30ADHD is attention deficit hyperactivity disorder,

0:09:30 > 0:09:34which means it's hard for me to sometimes concentrate.

0:09:34 > 0:09:37- Mister! Ya?- Stop jumping around.- Ya!

0:09:37 > 0:09:39Sometimes, like, I mess about

0:09:39 > 0:09:42and, like, do something I'm not meant to do.

0:09:42 > 0:09:45- Get down now!- It's not dangerous. - No, no, no.

0:09:47 > 0:09:51And my type of autism is, like, it stops me from being able to

0:09:51 > 0:09:53interact properly with kids.

0:09:53 > 0:09:55I come across as annoying.

0:09:55 > 0:09:57Ooh-ooh-ooh!

0:09:57 > 0:09:59Leo is loud.

0:09:59 > 0:10:00He butts into people's conversations.

0:10:00 > 0:10:02If somebody, like,

0:10:02 > 0:10:05gets him angry, he'll start, like, shouting across...

0:10:05 > 0:10:06shouting across the classroom,

0:10:06 > 0:10:09telling them to be quiet and stop saying that.

0:10:09 > 0:10:11Leo! Stop.

0:10:11 > 0:10:13Do you notice that you just need to...?

0:10:13 > 0:10:15Just stop. Honestly.

0:10:15 > 0:10:18- WHISPERS:- Shut up!

0:10:18 > 0:10:20- LEO WHISTLES - Don't make noises, Leo.

0:10:20 > 0:10:24- IN SILLY VOICE:- Sorry!- No, Leo. Don't react like that, please.

0:10:24 > 0:10:27It's hard for me sometimes cos I, like, get in trouble

0:10:27 > 0:10:31when the teachers don't really know why I'm doing what I'm doing.

0:10:32 > 0:10:35- Right, Leo, go out.- I said sorry.

0:10:35 > 0:10:37No. Go out, please.

0:10:38 > 0:10:41Even though they know it can be part of his condition,

0:10:41 > 0:10:45teachers sometimes need to challenge his behaviour to keep him on task.

0:10:45 > 0:10:47Right, Leo. Come on, then.

0:10:47 > 0:10:49Let's come and get your tablet, please.

0:10:50 > 0:10:54To try to manage it, his mum helps him take medication every day.

0:10:55 > 0:10:58My tablets, they help me calm down,

0:10:58 > 0:11:02they help me behave myself, so I'm not, like, always hyper.

0:11:02 > 0:11:07And at school, he has access to a special area called The Base.

0:11:07 > 0:11:12Base is a place where we can go if we, like, if we're having trouble

0:11:12 > 0:11:15or if we just don't want to be near other kids.

0:11:15 > 0:11:19It's where you'll find teaching assistant Laura.

0:11:19 > 0:11:22What is autism to you? How do you feel about it?

0:11:22 > 0:11:26Erm, something that people might think is a bad thing

0:11:26 > 0:11:28- even though it can help you.- OK!

0:11:28 > 0:11:32They come to us, and we give them the support that they need.

0:11:32 > 0:11:33We're there for them.

0:11:33 > 0:11:36If they need to speak to us, we are always there for them.

0:11:37 > 0:11:40Today, Leo's on Laura's radar.

0:11:40 > 0:11:43His teachers have noticed that he's been struggling

0:11:43 > 0:11:45to keep his behaviour under control.

0:11:46 > 0:11:48I have noticed a little bit lately

0:11:48 > 0:11:51that you're getting yourself into trouble a little bit.

0:11:51 > 0:11:53- What's going on?- Nothing.

0:11:53 > 0:11:57- Are you...? You need to tell us. Are you struggling?- No.

0:11:57 > 0:12:03Is there anything that we can do to help you? More support maybe?

0:12:03 > 0:12:05You just seem to be getting yourself into a bit of bother, though,

0:12:05 > 0:12:07and that's what's concerning me.

0:12:09 > 0:12:11I worry about them all of the time.

0:12:11 > 0:12:13The children that I work with,

0:12:13 > 0:12:16I feel are like my children that are in my care.

0:12:16 > 0:12:19You know, I'm not going to shout at you or anything like that,

0:12:19 > 0:12:21you're not going to be in any trouble,

0:12:21 > 0:12:25but if you need help with something, I need you to be honest with me.

0:12:25 > 0:12:27Right, I'm telling you now,

0:12:27 > 0:12:31I don't want to see your name on the behaviour log again this week.

0:12:32 > 0:12:35I'm going to give you a week to turn it around,

0:12:35 > 0:12:38and if that's not the case, if you don't turn around, I'll call Mum.

0:12:38 > 0:12:42Do you understand? Yeah? Come on then, you.

0:12:42 > 0:12:45We need to be getting it right. We need to be doing it better.

0:12:46 > 0:12:50At times, it's good to know that someone at school has got your back.

0:12:50 > 0:12:51All right?

0:12:58 > 0:13:00The rules for the big social networking sites

0:13:00 > 0:13:03say that you have to be 13 to sign up,

0:13:03 > 0:13:07but despite that, many of our year sevens do use them,

0:13:07 > 0:13:11and that can cause problems, as Kiara May is about to discover.

0:13:13 > 0:13:15During this week's maths lesson,

0:13:15 > 0:13:18the class were given special permission to use their phones.

0:13:18 > 0:13:19Times 2.5.

0:13:19 > 0:13:22So, get your calculators, use your phone.

0:13:23 > 0:13:29Kiara, Cerys and Jay used more than just calculators.

0:13:29 > 0:13:31So, basically, we were sitting in class,

0:13:31 > 0:13:35and as we got our phones out, Jay took a picture of me.

0:13:35 > 0:13:40So, then I took a picture of him, and then Cerys took a picture.

0:13:40 > 0:13:42We get the picture, Kiara.

0:13:42 > 0:13:44But this behaviour hasn't gone unnoticed.

0:13:51 > 0:13:55And the next morning, Mr Killminster is on a mission

0:13:55 > 0:13:57to teach them a lesson they won't forget.

0:13:57 > 0:14:00So, you're going to work in complete silence.

0:14:00 > 0:14:03If you don't like it, it's a bit of a shame, isn't it?

0:14:05 > 0:14:06OK?

0:14:06 > 0:14:09He's discovered that the photos taken yesterday

0:14:09 > 0:14:10have found their way online,

0:14:10 > 0:14:13and that he's in one of them.

0:14:13 > 0:14:14..so I'm not very happy about that.

0:14:14 > 0:14:18If you take a photo in this lesson, you will be excluded.

0:14:18 > 0:14:21You are not allowed to take photographs in class

0:14:21 > 0:14:23without the permission of the teacher.

0:14:23 > 0:14:25I didn't give my permission yesterday,

0:14:25 > 0:14:28and those people who have posted pictures will be in serious trouble.

0:14:28 > 0:14:34So, that's a warning, guys. The photograph is zero tolerance.

0:14:36 > 0:14:39- Jay, did you take a photograph yesterday?- Yeah.

0:14:39 > 0:14:42- Right, thank you for being honest. Did you take one, Darnell?- No.- No?

0:14:42 > 0:14:45Kiara, you did, didn't you? Who else took one?

0:14:45 > 0:14:47You're quiet, Cerys.

0:14:47 > 0:14:49I didn't own up to taking the photo

0:14:49 > 0:14:51cos I didn't know at first that we were in trouble.

0:14:51 > 0:14:53Guys, you can't do it.

0:14:53 > 0:14:55You know, if I did that, I'd get the sack.

0:14:55 > 0:14:56Cerys didn't want to own up,

0:14:56 > 0:14:59and she was, like, "Well, no, I don't want to get involved."

0:14:59 > 0:15:01Well, you got involved when you took a picture of him.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05Guys, you've got this one now.

0:15:05 > 0:15:07Right, so I want you all to be looking at...

0:15:11 > 0:15:14In school, if I am in trouble,

0:15:14 > 0:15:15I'll... Like, not straightaway,

0:15:15 > 0:15:18but after, like, a couple of maybe days or something,

0:15:18 > 0:15:20I'll own up to it after, yeah.

0:15:21 > 0:15:24Cerys isn't just ignoring Kiara.

0:15:24 > 0:15:27Unbelievably, she's on her phone again.

0:15:27 > 0:15:30- SCHOOL BELL RINGS - All right, those people

0:15:30 > 0:15:32who are on report...

0:15:32 > 0:15:34Kiara and Jay may have owned up,

0:15:34 > 0:15:36but Mr Killminster's not leaving it there.

0:15:36 > 0:15:38Not so fast, guys.

0:15:40 > 0:15:41- Now?- Yeah.

0:15:43 > 0:15:44Uh-oh.

0:15:44 > 0:15:47I think that if you've done something,

0:15:47 > 0:15:49then you do face the punishments,

0:15:49 > 0:15:50even though sometimes they're not fair,

0:15:50 > 0:15:53but then you shouldn't have done it in the first place.

0:15:53 > 0:15:55Well, that's true.

0:15:59 > 0:16:01And downstairs, all three culprits -

0:16:01 > 0:16:04including Cerys, who's finally owned up -

0:16:04 > 0:16:06are ready to face Miss Richardson.

0:16:08 > 0:16:09As a head of year,

0:16:09 > 0:16:11I do have to deal with a lot of

0:16:11 > 0:16:12the social media side of things

0:16:12 > 0:16:16and trying to manage that can be quite difficult.

0:16:16 > 0:16:17I get it.

0:16:17 > 0:16:21You've been asked to use your phones, OK, for calculators, right?

0:16:21 > 0:16:23Take the mick a bit. OK, I am human,

0:16:23 > 0:16:26I do understand you're going to take the mick a bit.

0:16:26 > 0:16:28- But should you really have taken the mick a bit?- No.- No.

0:16:28 > 0:16:30No. If you take...

0:16:30 > 0:16:34Number one, take a picture of someone without them knowing, OK?

0:16:34 > 0:16:35Or without their consent.

0:16:35 > 0:16:37So, them to say... You know what I mean?

0:16:37 > 0:16:42Like, not saying yes to it can be illegal. OK?

0:16:42 > 0:16:44So, when sir's teaching, to take a picture

0:16:44 > 0:16:47and he's even in the background, that's technically illegal.

0:16:47 > 0:16:48Does that make sense?

0:16:48 > 0:16:50OK? Does that make sense, Jay?

0:16:51 > 0:16:54Second of all, though, then,

0:16:54 > 0:16:58you've doubly taken the mick to share a picture, OK?

0:16:58 > 0:17:02Again without that person...member of staff's consent.

0:17:02 > 0:17:04But you need to protect yourselves, guys. OK?

0:17:04 > 0:17:06Otherwise the police can get involved in that,

0:17:06 > 0:17:09and I don't want you guys to get mixed up in that, OK?

0:17:09 > 0:17:11They don't realise what they post today can affect

0:17:11 > 0:17:13them in the future,

0:17:13 > 0:17:15and also how if they post

0:17:15 > 0:17:17a picture of a teacher as well

0:17:17 > 0:17:18that could affect their career

0:17:18 > 0:17:20as well. So, students just need

0:17:20 > 0:17:21to be really careful.

0:17:22 > 0:17:25You see any of your friends that have done the same,

0:17:25 > 0:17:29tell them to delete it quick. OK?

0:17:29 > 0:17:31Guys, it's not appropriate.

0:17:31 > 0:17:33We're here to give you guys an education

0:17:33 > 0:17:35and to be there for you, OK?

0:17:35 > 0:17:37Don't go against that, all right?

0:17:37 > 0:17:39Have you said anything to sir since this?

0:17:41 > 0:17:43- Sorry, sir.- Yeah, they have. They've all apologised, miss.- Good.

0:17:43 > 0:17:47If it gets to a stage, guys, when it's quite a few times now

0:17:47 > 0:17:48with the phones and stuff,

0:17:48 > 0:17:50it keeps repeating itself as a situation,

0:17:50 > 0:17:54I will ban you from using a phone on the school premises, OK?

0:17:54 > 0:17:57Is that really a clear message to you all, though?

0:17:57 > 0:17:59Do you really understand what I'm trying to say?

0:17:59 > 0:18:01Kiara?

0:18:01 > 0:18:04I've learned that social media can be bad and good,

0:18:04 > 0:18:08and I've learned not to take pictures in Mr Killminster's class.

0:18:08 > 0:18:10Shouldn't that be ANY class?

0:18:14 > 0:18:16I'm seeing if his head can snap a pencil.

0:18:16 > 0:18:19PENCIL SNAPS

0:18:20 > 0:18:22- High five!- What happened?

0:18:22 > 0:18:25Remember that film I told you Leo was making?

0:18:25 > 0:18:29Today, he's on location and in front of the camera again.

0:18:29 > 0:18:31Look at me.

0:18:31 > 0:18:35Leo's big sister, Shyanne, is helping to put the film together.

0:18:35 > 0:18:36Stay there.

0:18:37 > 0:18:40So, what would you describe autism as?

0:18:40 > 0:18:43How does autism affect you?

0:18:43 > 0:18:47It's hard for me to come across as normal to people.

0:18:47 > 0:18:49That's it. Just be careful, don't fall down.

0:18:50 > 0:18:54It's about my autism and ADHD and the way it affects me

0:18:54 > 0:18:58and the way...I react.

0:18:58 > 0:19:00It's kind of a message to other children

0:19:00 > 0:19:01that have the same problems,

0:19:01 > 0:19:04that just because you have ADHD or autism or any other disability,

0:19:04 > 0:19:07it does not make you any different to anybody else.

0:19:07 > 0:19:09Leo's a big fan of social media,

0:19:09 > 0:19:12and he reckons getting his sister to post his film online

0:19:12 > 0:19:14might help others like him.

0:19:14 > 0:19:19I'd like it to help kids like me to understand themselves.

0:19:19 > 0:19:22- Oh! - LAUGHING:- What's meant to happen?

0:19:22 > 0:19:23But if someone said,

0:19:23 > 0:19:27"Yeah, this has helped me to understand myself. Thanks,"

0:19:27 > 0:19:29that would actually be really nice

0:19:29 > 0:19:33cos then I would know I would at least help one person.

0:19:33 > 0:19:35- But before the film hits the internet...- Go.

0:19:35 > 0:19:38..year seven are going to get a preview in Friday's assembly.

0:19:38 > 0:19:40Best get cracking, Leo.

0:19:47 > 0:19:49I think it's fair to say that

0:19:49 > 0:19:52social media is the biggest distraction at our school,

0:19:52 > 0:19:55but what is so interesting?

0:19:55 > 0:19:57It's like we're always on our phones constantly

0:19:57 > 0:20:00because, like, typical 11, 12-year-olds.

0:20:00 > 0:20:05Once I added...I added Justin Bieber on Twitter...

0:20:06 > 0:20:09Really is there any logic in that? No!

0:20:09 > 0:20:11I just...get annoyed.

0:20:11 > 0:20:14- Bullying. - To take selfies, opinions.

0:20:15 > 0:20:18- I do that all the time. - No. Yeah, I'm not being funny,

0:20:18 > 0:20:19but opinions...

0:20:19 > 0:20:21"I don't think I like this one."

0:20:21 > 0:20:23Don't like it, don't put it on.

0:20:23 > 0:20:26No-one cares. No-one cares.

0:20:26 > 0:20:30No-one's going to go, "Oh, really?" and comment on it. No.

0:20:30 > 0:20:32You don't need to show how much you love your mum.

0:20:32 > 0:20:34Your mum already knows that you love her.

0:20:34 > 0:20:37One of my friends put, "Oh, yeah, having a cup of tea

0:20:37 > 0:20:38"then just getting in the bath."

0:20:38 > 0:20:41And I care because...?

0:20:41 > 0:20:43Once your phones goes off, yeah, you're like,

0:20:43 > 0:20:46"Oh... Who text me?"

0:20:46 > 0:20:47And sometimes it's just like...

0:20:49 > 0:20:53"Hello, Malcolm, you've just won £10,000 because of your..."

0:20:53 > 0:20:56- "..accident you had." - "..PPI accident."

0:20:56 > 0:20:59Payment protecting insurance.

0:20:59 > 0:21:00Yeah, that's annoying.

0:21:07 > 0:21:09Friday's assembly is looming,

0:21:09 > 0:21:12and Leo's still got to record the big introduction to his film.

0:21:12 > 0:21:15But the cat seemed to have got his tongue.

0:21:15 > 0:21:17You were so up for this earlier, and you were like,

0:21:17 > 0:21:20"Yes, I'm going to tell people, post it on YouTube."

0:21:20 > 0:21:23If Jacksepticeye was watching, what would you want him to know?

0:21:23 > 0:21:25Ringing in my ear.

0:21:25 > 0:21:26What would you want to say to him?

0:21:28 > 0:21:29Do you want to give it a go?

0:21:30 > 0:21:31In a second.

0:21:32 > 0:21:34Are you nervous?

0:21:34 > 0:21:37COMPUTER BEEPS COUNTDOWN

0:21:37 > 0:21:39Hello, my name's Leo.

0:21:39 > 0:21:43No-one decides who gets ADHD and autism or not.

0:21:43 > 0:21:45It just happens.

0:21:47 > 0:21:49I used to want to get rid of it,

0:21:49 > 0:21:51I used to hate myself because I had it.

0:21:53 > 0:21:55Now I've realised that it helps me.

0:21:57 > 0:21:59It can help you in all aspects of your life.

0:21:59 > 0:22:02It can help you with being smart, it can help you with your sport,

0:22:02 > 0:22:06it can help you with anything, really, if you know what to do.

0:22:06 > 0:22:09And I never used to know what to do, and I really hated it.

0:22:09 > 0:22:11I actually really hated myself...

0:22:13 > 0:22:15..and that put me down in my life,

0:22:15 > 0:22:18knowing none of my friends used to understand me,

0:22:18 > 0:22:21none of my teachers - no-one.

0:22:22 > 0:22:25You should understand yourself,

0:22:25 > 0:22:28and if you don't understand yourself,

0:22:28 > 0:22:31you're just going to be tucked away in your house all the time

0:22:31 > 0:22:35with no friends and no real family

0:22:35 > 0:22:38cos they're not really going to understand you...

0:22:40 > 0:22:42..and that's not a good thing.

0:22:45 > 0:22:47If you know anybody who's got ADHD and autism...

0:22:49 > 0:22:52..help them, help to understand them

0:22:52 > 0:22:53cos if you don't...

0:22:54 > 0:22:57..you're never really going to be there for them.

0:23:07 > 0:23:08This is the end of the video now.

0:23:08 > 0:23:13I hope I've helped some people out there with ADHD and autism.

0:23:13 > 0:23:14Bye.

0:23:17 > 0:23:18Well done.

0:23:20 > 0:23:22Come here. Aw.

0:23:25 > 0:23:27- You OK?- Yeah.- You did good. - HE SNIFFS

0:23:43 > 0:23:46It's Friday morning, and Leo's big moment has arrived.

0:23:47 > 0:23:50His family have come to support him

0:23:50 > 0:23:54as finally he has the chance to show the school who he really is.

0:23:54 > 0:23:58- LEO'S MUM:- Are you nervous?- Kind of. - Kind of?- Yeah.

0:23:58 > 0:24:00I can't wait to see it.

0:24:01 > 0:24:03It's an insight into you, isn't it?

0:24:03 > 0:24:07He woke up, and he was so nervous, you could see.

0:24:07 > 0:24:10We've sort of not discussed it too much,

0:24:10 > 0:24:13so it's not him thinking about it constantly.

0:24:13 > 0:24:16I don't want to be in the room whilst the video's playing.

0:24:16 > 0:24:18I know, but this is going to be good for you, Leo.

0:24:18 > 0:24:20What you're going to find is that

0:24:20 > 0:24:22people are going to react really well to this.

0:24:22 > 0:24:25- Hello!- Hello. Are you all right, sweetheart?- Yeah. You all right?

0:24:25 > 0:24:29- How are you doing, little superstar? Are you all right?- Yeah.- Yeah? Cool?

0:24:29 > 0:24:31Are the nerves kicking in or are you good?

0:24:31 > 0:24:34Are you good to go? Yeah?

0:24:34 > 0:24:38- I'm a bag of nerves! Honestly. - Aw, it'll be fine.

0:24:38 > 0:24:39So am I now.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43Good morning, year seven.

0:24:44 > 0:24:49Leo here has done an absolutely amazing film about autism.

0:24:49 > 0:24:53So, I'm going to hand over to Leo just to say a couple of words

0:24:53 > 0:24:56and just to say how you feel about it.

0:24:56 > 0:24:58Go on. Do you want to?

0:24:58 > 0:25:00Go on. You don't want to?

0:25:00 > 0:25:01Oh, he's a little bit shy.

0:25:01 > 0:25:04So, yeah, we're going to show you the film now.

0:25:06 > 0:25:09When Leo first entered the school, I didn't know he had autism,

0:25:09 > 0:25:12but I knew there was something that

0:25:12 > 0:25:14he was hiding from everyone.

0:25:16 > 0:25:20I've always knew I was different to other kids,

0:25:20 > 0:25:23because I act... I always acted different.

0:25:23 > 0:25:26It opened my eyes, I guess, to think,

0:25:26 > 0:25:29well, there are some people in this school that are different to us,

0:25:29 > 0:25:31but they don't want to be seen like that.

0:25:32 > 0:25:35The way you are isn't your fault.

0:25:35 > 0:25:39It's no-one's fault, really, cos it's just natural.

0:25:39 > 0:25:41When he put the film on, it made me think of

0:25:41 > 0:25:43my own sister because she's go autism,

0:25:43 > 0:25:46and it made me feel really good about myself

0:25:46 > 0:25:49for what I've done for my sister and everything.

0:25:49 > 0:25:52Just because I have ADHD and autism

0:25:52 > 0:25:58doesn't mean I need to be treated, as in, different to anybody else.

0:25:58 > 0:26:02So, if you know anybody who's got autism, be nice to them.

0:26:02 > 0:26:06- Right, guys, thank you. Leo. - APPLAUSE

0:26:07 > 0:26:08Well done, mate.

0:26:09 > 0:26:13I think Leo was really brave, cos, like, if I had autism

0:26:13 > 0:26:16I'd be really scared to talk about my own disability.

0:26:16 > 0:26:19When I saw the video today, I thought it was amazing,

0:26:19 > 0:26:23and I'm pretty proud of him, actually.

0:26:23 > 0:26:27To be able to see him speak so openly and frankly

0:26:27 > 0:26:29was very, very emotional, very emotional.

0:26:29 > 0:26:30I was crying my eyes out, so...

0:26:35 > 0:26:36Good work, Leo.

0:26:36 > 0:26:38How does that feel?

0:26:38 > 0:26:41I'm proud because my main goal was to help people

0:26:41 > 0:26:44understand ADHD and autism, and I actually have.

0:26:44 > 0:26:47I do feel like people understand me better now.

0:27:03 > 0:27:05Next time on Our School...

0:27:05 > 0:27:07Ooh, a piece of salami.

0:27:07 > 0:27:10..Kiara and Archie have a truly rubbish lesson...

0:27:10 > 0:27:11Whoa, there's a hair on it.

0:27:13 > 0:27:15..and as year seven prepare for a night in the cold...

0:27:15 > 0:27:19LAUGHTER AND SCREAMING ..tempers boil over.

0:27:19 > 0:27:21I want to kill them. I want to kill the boys.
