0:02:06 > 0:02:10and PCs Jack Roth and Alison Codd are on a blue-light run.

0:02:10 > 0:02:14A resident's phoned up to say that somebody's walked into their house.

0:02:14 > 0:02:16This person's left,

0:02:16 > 0:02:19but they can hear banging and crashing at the back of their house.

0:02:19 > 0:02:21We're not quite sure,

0:02:21 > 0:02:23it could be a burglar.

0:02:23 > 0:02:26It sounds a bit odd, so we're going to get there just to make sure

0:02:26 > 0:02:29the occupants of the house are safe and to find out who this person is.

0:02:31 > 0:02:33It seems that a complete stranger has been getting

0:02:33 > 0:02:38into people's homes, which is enough to terrify anyone.

0:02:38 > 0:02:40As Jack and Alison get closer to the address,

0:02:40 > 0:02:42more information comes to light.

0:02:42 > 0:02:43Just listened to the radio

0:02:43 > 0:02:46and they're saying the guy's running down the street.

0:02:46 > 0:02:50Apparently, this guy smashed a lot of glass in one of the properties

0:02:50 > 0:02:52and is bleeding quite heavily.

0:02:52 > 0:02:56I'm putting my rubber gloves on just in case we do come across him.

0:02:56 > 0:02:58Another update reveals there's a possibility

0:02:58 > 0:03:02the suspect may not be in the best state of health.

0:03:02 > 0:03:04He's got a hospital band on his arm.

0:03:04 > 0:03:07Just up here on the right-hand side is Weston General Hospital

0:03:07 > 0:03:09so it's possible he's come from there.

0:03:09 > 0:03:11Right what's this one here?

0:03:11 > 0:03:14Brockley Crescent, down here.

0:03:17 > 0:03:18Apparently, he's walking out.

0:03:18 > 0:03:20As Jack and Alison arrive...

0:03:20 > 0:03:24- Who's that?- ..a man matching the description runs past the van...

0:03:24 > 0:03:26- That's him, there. - ..in the opposite direction.

0:03:26 > 0:03:27Stay there, stay there!

0:03:27 > 0:03:32Out of the van in a flash, Jack quickly catches up with the suspect.

0:03:32 > 0:03:34- What are you doing, mate, eh? - Is this the Isle Of Man?

0:03:34 > 0:03:37Just give me your arm.

0:03:38 > 0:03:40Mate, just stay still, all right,

0:03:40 > 0:03:42just stay still my friend, all right?

0:03:42 > 0:03:44- He isn't coming quietly. - MAN SHOUTS OUT

0:03:44 > 0:03:46- Calm down.- Baby!

0:03:46 > 0:03:48Clearly agitated,

0:03:48 > 0:03:50it's taking both Jack...

0:03:50 > 0:03:52Calm down!

0:03:52 > 0:03:56..and fellow PC Owen Bailey just to get the cuffs on him.

0:03:56 > 0:03:57- What's your name?- Alec.

0:03:57 > 0:04:01What's going on? Right, you're under arrest at the moment,

0:04:01 > 0:04:03on suspicion of criminal damage.

0:04:03 > 0:04:06In situations like this, the neighbourhood teams

0:04:06 > 0:04:09have absolutely no idea what's coming next,

0:04:09 > 0:04:12so it's imperative that they proceed with caution.

0:04:12 > 0:04:14We're going to have to stick some leg restraints on you.

0:04:14 > 0:04:16I don't know what this is about, mate.

0:04:19 > 0:04:21HE SHOUTS OUT

0:04:21 > 0:04:23Calm down, buddy.

0:04:23 > 0:04:25BLEEP.

0:04:25 > 0:04:27- Alec, listen... - Have you got anything on you, fella?

0:04:27 > 0:04:32Have you got anything on you that's going to hurt me or my colleagues?

0:04:32 > 0:04:35Oi, Alec, we'll see you in the back of the van here, mate, all right?

0:04:36 > 0:04:37Mind your head.

0:04:37 > 0:04:40Alec, I've got your phone, your wallet and your lighter

0:04:40 > 0:04:42and your SIM card, all right?

0:04:42 > 0:04:44I've got that here. I've got it here.

0:04:44 > 0:04:48It wasn't easy, but after calming him down and getting his details,

0:04:48 > 0:04:52the suspect is put into the van to be taken back to the station.

0:04:52 > 0:04:53Let me out!

0:04:55 > 0:04:57The prisoner is wearing a hospital wristband,

0:04:57 > 0:04:59so before they take him to custody,

0:04:59 > 0:05:02Jack and the team need to confirm whether or not

0:05:02 > 0:05:04he was actually released by the hospital.

0:05:05 > 0:05:07We're just getting some more information,

0:05:07 > 0:05:09we may have to take him to the hospital

0:05:09 > 0:05:13but it is going to require four of us due to his behaviour.

0:05:13 > 0:05:16It's going to be somewhat challenging, shall we say.

0:05:16 > 0:05:19- Alec?- What?- Have you been treated at the hospital?

0:05:21 > 0:05:23Is this the Isle of Man?

0:05:23 > 0:05:26I've got no idea what he's talking about.

0:05:26 > 0:05:29With the suspect making absolutely no sense whatsoever,

0:05:29 > 0:05:31the neighbourhood team pay the hospital a visit

0:05:31 > 0:05:34to see if he received all the treatment he needed.

0:05:34 > 0:05:36Let's see if we can get a bit of paper from them which says

0:05:36 > 0:05:39if he's been treated and if he's fit to be detained.

0:05:41 > 0:05:43- Can you hear me now? - Yeah, I can hear you now.

0:05:43 > 0:05:45- We're just at the hospital. - All right, buddy.

0:05:45 > 0:05:47We're finding out if you've been treated or not.

0:05:47 > 0:05:51If you have, we'll take you to the police station.

0:05:51 > 0:05:53If you haven't, you'll be going to the hospital.

0:05:53 > 0:05:55The man is being checked over.

0:05:55 > 0:05:57They're saying he's cut himself on the glass.

0:05:57 > 0:05:59Kneel down so I can have a look.

0:05:59 > 0:06:02He may have injured himself during his rampage.

0:06:02 > 0:06:05Yeah, relax, mate, relax.

0:06:05 > 0:06:06It's my hand, man.

0:06:06 > 0:06:09You've just got dried blood. Can you put your hand on your head?

0:06:09 > 0:06:12My colleagues have just come out of the hospital,

0:06:12 > 0:06:14we've got some paperwork from the staff to say

0:06:14 > 0:06:16they're happy to release him to us to custody,

0:06:16 > 0:06:18so we'll be on our way to Weston Police Station.

0:06:20 > 0:06:23The prisoner's injuries don't need any treatment.

0:06:23 > 0:06:26And with the hospital happy for him to leave,

0:06:26 > 0:06:28next stop will be the cells back at the station,

0:06:28 > 0:06:31although news has just come through which suggests

0:06:31 > 0:06:34that he could be in custody for some time.

0:06:34 > 0:06:37This chap is apparently wanted on warrant,

0:06:37 > 0:06:42which basically means a court has issued a warrant for his arrest,

0:06:42 > 0:06:46so there's two warrants that are outstanding for his arrest

0:06:46 > 0:06:48at the moment, so whatever happens,

0:06:48 > 0:06:51he's going to remain in police custody until he can go to court

0:06:51 > 0:06:53to have those warrants dealt with.

0:06:53 > 0:06:57We're hoping, obviously, he gets better through the night,

0:06:57 > 0:07:01or comes down off whatever medication he's taken

0:07:01 > 0:07:03in order for that to happen.

0:07:03 > 0:07:06But, yeah, he's a wanted man at the moment.

0:07:08 > 0:07:10Yep, that's it. Jump down, buddy.

0:07:10 > 0:07:14Back at the station, the suspect is a lot calmer as he's booked in.

0:07:16 > 0:07:18- Do you want a drink of water now? - I'd love one, please, mate.

0:07:18 > 0:07:21My hand, I smashed it...

0:07:21 > 0:07:23Still confused, he's struggling to remember

0:07:23 > 0:07:26what's he's done to get himself here.

0:07:26 > 0:07:29- Alec, come on, mate.- Come and have a drink, mate.- What did I do?

0:07:29 > 0:07:32He might be dazed, but the people whose homes

0:07:32 > 0:07:34he invaded won't forget the night in a hurry.

0:07:36 > 0:07:38He's gone into four people's houses,

0:07:38 > 0:07:40just let himself in.

0:07:40 > 0:07:43He's sat down, his eyes are glaring.

0:07:43 > 0:07:46He's got blood on his head, blood on his hands.

0:07:46 > 0:07:49These are all just people who are sat watching TV

0:07:49 > 0:07:51on a normal Friday evening.

0:07:51 > 0:07:54An overnight in the cells will give him plenty of time

0:07:54 > 0:07:57to cast his mind back over the evening's events.

0:07:57 > 0:08:00You are for the minute, until you've come down from whatever you've had.

0:08:00 > 0:08:03'He's now going to be in a cell for three days

0:08:03 > 0:08:05'because it's a bank holiday weekend.

0:08:05 > 0:08:06'Knowing that he's locked up'

0:08:06 > 0:08:07is quite a comfort

0:08:07 > 0:08:09to those people he's frightened.

0:08:09 > 0:08:11'He can't cause himself any injury

0:08:11 > 0:08:14'and he can't cause anybody else any injury.'

0:08:14 > 0:08:15No further action was taken

0:08:15 > 0:08:18with regards to the criminal damage offence.

0:08:18 > 0:08:20However, it turned out this man already had

0:08:20 > 0:08:23a suspended prison sentence for breaching a community order,

0:08:23 > 0:08:28which resulted in a four-month spell behind bars.

0:08:34 > 0:08:37One of the many challenges facing a neighbourhood officer

0:08:37 > 0:08:40is dealing with the people in their community

0:08:40 > 0:08:43who suffer from disabilities, both physical and mental.

0:08:43 > 0:08:46The police know that these vulnerable people

0:08:46 > 0:08:50can often become the targets of criminals who see them as easy prey,

0:08:50 > 0:08:54or bullies who torment them because of their disability.

0:08:54 > 0:08:56But a bigger test for the police

0:08:56 > 0:08:58comes when it's the disabled people themselves

0:08:58 > 0:09:00who are committing the crimes.

0:09:02 > 0:09:06PC Adge Secker's beat has a large population of deaf people

0:09:06 > 0:09:09and he's taken the time to learn sign language,

0:09:09 > 0:09:12although he's the first to admit

0:09:12 > 0:09:15that he's not as good at it as he'd like to be.

0:09:15 > 0:09:17I'm not that eloquent at signing, not at all,

0:09:17 > 0:09:20but at least I can have a conversation

0:09:20 > 0:09:22and that's what the neighbourhood policing is all about,

0:09:22 > 0:09:25being able to talk to people.

0:09:25 > 0:09:28Today, Adge is on his way to see a deaf couple that have complained

0:09:28 > 0:09:31about two young men who've been pestering them

0:09:31 > 0:09:33for things like money, food and drink.

0:09:34 > 0:09:36Adge is determined to help the couple

0:09:36 > 0:09:39and put an end to their misery.

0:09:39 > 0:09:43He's been having two people asking for cigarettes,

0:09:43 > 0:09:44alcohol, and sometimes...

0:09:44 > 0:09:48Yeah, food, some biscuits, some food, everything else, yeah?

0:09:48 > 0:09:53And it's making you and your wife Julie stressed. Yeah?

0:09:53 > 0:09:55OK, so the way we're going to deal with that...

0:09:58 > 0:10:01..yeah, tell them to stay away from here, not come back.

0:10:01 > 0:10:03For this deaf couple,

0:10:03 > 0:10:08being able to easily communicate with Adge makes a huge difference.

0:10:08 > 0:10:11Other people from the deaf community tend to pay visits.

0:10:11 > 0:10:14Now, there's nothing wrong with that

0:10:14 > 0:10:17but these two guys are starting to take advantage.

0:10:17 > 0:10:20Although the two lads have been harassing them,

0:10:20 > 0:10:22the couple don't want to take legal action,

0:10:22 > 0:10:24but now that he knows about the problem,

0:10:24 > 0:10:27Adge will be keeping a close eye out for the lads.

0:10:28 > 0:10:31But right now, he's on his way to one of the local schools

0:10:31 > 0:10:34to provide cover for someone else who has been victimised.

0:10:35 > 0:10:39An issue happened yesterday where the lollipop lady

0:10:39 > 0:10:42was verbally abused by somebody. Well, we can't be having that.

0:10:42 > 0:10:46It's resulted in her not being at work for a couple of days.

0:10:46 > 0:10:50A parent in a passing car abused the lollipop lady.

0:10:50 > 0:10:53The school's head teacher is hoping that having Adge here

0:10:53 > 0:10:56will make motorists and parents think twice about the way

0:10:56 > 0:10:58they treat the lollipop lady in the future.

0:10:58 > 0:11:00She's not here today which is why I'm here.

0:11:00 > 0:11:02She has had abuse, people swearing at her,

0:11:02 > 0:11:03people threatening her,

0:11:03 > 0:11:05people just doing drive-throughs,

0:11:05 > 0:11:07especially on motorbikes, nearly hitting children.

0:11:07 > 0:11:10It's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured.

0:11:10 > 0:11:14We've had a few close shaves. That's where PC Secker comes in

0:11:14 > 0:11:17so hopefully it will stop that happening.

0:11:17 > 0:11:18Thanks very much!

0:11:18 > 0:11:20After just a short time at the school...

0:11:20 > 0:11:23Ah, perfect. Wait there!

0:11:23 > 0:11:25I need to speak to him, this is one of our guys.

0:11:25 > 0:11:27Adge has just spotted one of the deaf lads

0:11:27 > 0:11:30accused of harassing the couple he visited earlier.

0:11:30 > 0:11:33- Listen, you and- BLEEP

0:11:33 > 0:11:38- have been going to- BLEEP- buildings.

0:11:39 > 0:11:42Adge has given this lad a stern warning

0:11:42 > 0:11:44to stay away from the couple.

0:11:44 > 0:11:45Find out later what happens

0:11:45 > 0:11:49when the other lad who's been accused comes into the station.

0:11:49 > 0:11:51Stay away. You understand?

0:11:58 > 0:12:00The beach here at Weston-super-Mare is massive,

0:12:00 > 0:12:04and every year, it plays host to large music festivals.

0:12:04 > 0:12:06This is great news for the town's economy,

0:12:06 > 0:12:11but when the population suddenly swells with thousands of music fans,

0:12:11 > 0:12:14it becomes a major operation for the police.

0:12:17 > 0:12:20Today, Weston is hosting a McBusted concert -

0:12:20 > 0:12:24a combination of two of the most popular bands from the noughties.

0:12:24 > 0:12:26The revived boy bands' fanbase

0:12:26 > 0:12:29stretches from teens to 40-somethings.

0:12:29 > 0:12:31Preparing for a busy night

0:12:31 > 0:12:34is Neighbourhood Inspector Sharon Bennett.

0:12:34 > 0:12:36This the first time an event like this for Weston

0:12:36 > 0:12:38has finished at ten o'clock at night.

0:12:38 > 0:12:41This is our main night-time economy area of all our pubs and clubs.

0:12:41 > 0:12:45We're anticipating a certain number of people who will want to come in

0:12:45 > 0:12:48and enjoy the town after the event, which is really good for Weston.

0:12:48 > 0:12:50But it's also a slight risk for us, as well.

0:12:50 > 0:12:53Obviously, we've got a large number of people coming into town

0:12:53 > 0:12:55and we've just got to manage that.

0:12:55 > 0:12:56The operation will be run

0:12:56 > 0:12:59from a centrally located mobile command centre.

0:13:00 > 0:13:03But things are getting busy sooner than expected

0:13:03 > 0:13:07as Sharon comes across a stag party who have played an unfortunate prank

0:13:07 > 0:13:09on the soon-to-be-married stag.

0:13:09 > 0:13:11HE LAUGHS

0:13:11 > 0:13:13- They think it's very amusing. - They do indeed.

0:13:13 > 0:13:16- How long have you been there for? - The best part of two hours?

0:13:16 > 0:13:20Two hours. Oh, here he comes, and he's got a straw in it!

0:13:20 > 0:13:23See, you'll see the way it pops up.

0:13:23 > 0:13:24It works.

0:13:24 > 0:13:25Look at that!

0:13:25 > 0:13:28Are you going to give him his dinner? Brilliant.

0:13:28 > 0:13:31Someone came across and fed me crisps.

0:13:31 > 0:13:33We come back every half an hour to just to make sure that he's...

0:13:33 > 0:13:36- You're not going to see McBusted then, on the beach?- No.- No?

0:13:36 > 0:13:37I don't really have an option.

0:13:37 > 0:13:39You don't, do you? You're going to do as you're told.

0:13:39 > 0:13:42- Have a good night! - Thank you very much!

0:13:42 > 0:13:45Weston is a popular destination for stag and hen parties,

0:13:45 > 0:13:49so sights like this are welcome so long as they behave themselves.

0:13:53 > 0:13:57Back at the station, Sharon briefs the team who will be working

0:13:57 > 0:13:58the night shift with her.

0:13:58 > 0:14:00So, I think town is going to be...

0:14:00 > 0:14:02It's potentially going to be the busiest night

0:14:02 > 0:14:04Weston has seen for a number of years.

0:14:04 > 0:14:07In addition to the regular Saturday night locals,

0:14:07 > 0:14:09the team are going to have to deal with

0:14:09 > 0:14:12thousands of extra visitors from the concert.

0:14:12 > 0:14:14They're aiming to do this by getting people away

0:14:14 > 0:14:17from the venue as soon as it finishes and then policing

0:14:17 > 0:14:19the large number of party-goers

0:14:19 > 0:14:21in the town's pubs and clubs afterwards.

0:14:21 > 0:14:24If people ask you, "Where's town? Where can I go for a drink?"

0:14:24 > 0:14:27Direct them into town. We want people to go in and have a drink.

0:14:27 > 0:14:29We just want to separate the ones that want to leave quickly,

0:14:29 > 0:14:30get them out quickly.

0:14:30 > 0:14:32And then, once they're in town,

0:14:32 > 0:14:36then making sure they behave in town. All right? Happy hunting.

0:14:37 > 0:14:41With the briefing barely over, the first call comes in.

0:14:42 > 0:14:45But it's not at the concert, it's in the town centre.

0:14:45 > 0:14:49We've got a report of our first fight in Regent Street.

0:14:49 > 0:14:51Two males fighting.

0:14:51 > 0:14:54Our first bit of disorder reported for the evening

0:14:54 > 0:14:56so we're going to see what's going on.

0:15:03 > 0:15:05Details are unclear, so the team

0:15:05 > 0:15:07head straight to the branch of McDonald's

0:15:07 > 0:15:09where the fight took place.

0:15:11 > 0:15:13They say he's gone around the back,

0:15:13 > 0:15:16the lane behind DB's and McDonald's, it comes out there.

0:15:16 > 0:15:18Apparently, he's gone down that way.

0:15:18 > 0:15:19Have they separated now?

0:15:19 > 0:15:21The two groups have split up.

0:15:22 > 0:15:26According to the security guard, the lads have only just scarpered,

0:15:26 > 0:15:30so Sharon splits her team in two in order to track them down.

0:15:30 > 0:15:33Whilst the foot patrol check the side-streets,

0:15:33 > 0:15:35the Inspector's team head up the road...

0:15:35 > 0:15:39There he goes! Down the end. Round the end on the left.

0:15:41 > 0:15:43There he is!

0:15:43 > 0:15:45Bingo!

0:15:47 > 0:15:50Stand still, fella. Stand still!

0:15:51 > 0:15:54They've got a suspect,

0:15:54 > 0:15:57but now the team need to find out exactly what has happened.

0:15:57 > 0:16:00He's run away from us so we've got hold of him now.

0:16:00 > 0:16:03The minimum that is going to happen to this gentleman is he's drunk,

0:16:03 > 0:16:06he's going to be leaving town, we're giving him an order to leave town.

0:16:06 > 0:16:10The police have the power to order troublemakers to leave the area

0:16:10 > 0:16:12for up to 48 hours and it's a power

0:16:12 > 0:16:15that Sharon intends to make full use of tonight

0:16:15 > 0:16:18as they police the town after the concert.

0:16:18 > 0:16:20We're just going to go round to McDonald's

0:16:20 > 0:16:23to see if anyone's been assaulted and have a chat.

0:16:23 > 0:16:24Back at the scene of the fight,

0:16:24 > 0:16:27Sharon's team are interviewing witnesses

0:16:27 > 0:16:30and trying to get to the bottom of what happened.

0:16:30 > 0:16:32Basically, there's been a bit of a kick-off in here.

0:16:32 > 0:16:36- This guy's been bitten by somebody else in a white T-shirt.- Right.

0:16:36 > 0:16:38It's OK, it wasn't really much of a bite.

0:16:38 > 0:16:42Witness accounts have put the lad in the blue T-shirt in the clear.

0:16:42 > 0:16:44Just to be sure, he's ordered to leave the area

0:16:44 > 0:16:48to prevent any further trouble from flaring up.

0:16:48 > 0:16:52Job done, at the McBusted concert, Sharon and the rest of the team

0:16:52 > 0:16:55are dealing with thousands.

0:16:55 > 0:16:57So as the volume starts to pick up,

0:16:57 > 0:17:01I'm just worried they're going to start spilling out into the road.

0:17:01 > 0:17:03Watch the traffic! CAR HORNS HONK

0:17:03 > 0:17:06The cars here on the Beach Lawn, they're just starting to queue

0:17:06 > 0:17:09to get out of the exit there where my officer is stood,

0:17:09 > 0:17:11so we'll see if any of them decide to take short cuts.

0:17:14 > 0:17:18While many of the concert-goers are racing to leave...

0:17:18 > 0:17:20Sergeant Lee Kerslake is one of Sharon's team

0:17:20 > 0:17:22making his way back to the exit,

0:17:22 > 0:17:27but has been sidetracked with a little problem further up the beach.

0:17:28 > 0:17:33It's just someone swimming and it didn't look like they had much on.

0:17:33 > 0:17:36It doesn't take Lee long to catch up with the skinny dipper.

0:17:37 > 0:17:39It's not quite what you want to see.

0:17:39 > 0:17:41No, it's not indeed.

0:17:41 > 0:17:45Unsurprisingly, he also appears to have had a few drinks.

0:17:45 > 0:17:47Happy birthday to you!

0:17:50 > 0:17:53As entertaining as it is for you and your mates,

0:17:53 > 0:17:55no-one else wants to see you, do they?

0:17:55 > 0:17:57- No-one else wants to see your... - I know, I'm sorry.

0:17:57 > 0:18:00With a few stern words of advice,

0:18:00 > 0:18:02the streaking swimmer is sent on his way.

0:18:02 > 0:18:05I think we've seen enough of him today.

0:18:09 > 0:18:11Hotfooting it back to the concert,

0:18:11 > 0:18:14Lee gets stuck in with some traffic direction.

0:18:14 > 0:18:17And in less than half an hour,

0:18:17 > 0:18:20the neighbourhood team have got everyone safely on their way.

0:18:22 > 0:18:24It's about 9.50 now,

0:18:24 > 0:18:28and everything's pretty much cleared up, there are a few cars left,

0:18:28 > 0:18:31a couple of people walking around but it's all quietened down now.

0:18:31 > 0:18:34We need to make our way back into town to see how many of these people

0:18:34 > 0:18:36have made their way into pubs and clubs.

0:18:38 > 0:18:41The planning that's gone into policing this huge event

0:18:41 > 0:18:43is paying off...

0:18:44 > 0:18:48..but the biggest test for the neighbourhood team is yet to come.

0:18:48 > 0:18:50Her friends are reporting her missing out on the beach.

0:18:50 > 0:18:52They can hear her voice but can't see her.

0:18:52 > 0:18:53Find out later how they cope

0:18:53 > 0:18:58when one concert-goer gets stuck in Weston's treacherous mudflats.

0:19:04 > 0:19:07Earlier on, we met Neighbourhood Officer Adge Secker

0:19:07 > 0:19:10who has been trained in sign language.

0:19:10 > 0:19:14Adge is helping a deaf couple who are being harassed by two deaf lads.

0:19:14 > 0:19:18He's already spoken to one of the lads responsible, but today,

0:19:18 > 0:19:21the other one has voluntarily come to the station for a chat.

0:19:26 > 0:19:27Thank you for coming.

0:19:27 > 0:19:29He tells me

0:19:29 > 0:19:32that you ask for food,

0:19:32 > 0:19:37cigarettes, you arrive and you're drunk...

0:19:37 > 0:19:40The couple don't want to take the matter any further,

0:19:40 > 0:19:44but Adge wants to make sure that this doesn't happen again.

0:19:44 > 0:19:47You stay away from Steve and Julie.

0:19:48 > 0:19:51You stay away. You understand?

0:19:51 > 0:19:55It's really important. You understand?

0:19:57 > 0:20:00After the lad has agreed to keep away from the couple,

0:20:00 > 0:20:03Adge issues him with a Community Resolution Order

0:20:03 > 0:20:06which means that instead of this being dealt with

0:20:06 > 0:20:09by the justice system, Adge will be the one who decides

0:20:09 > 0:20:11an appropriate course of action.

0:20:11 > 0:20:13And he thinks a letter of apology

0:20:13 > 0:20:17and a promise to stay away from the couple in the future will be enough.

0:20:19 > 0:20:23If you go again ever...

0:20:25 > 0:20:30..I knock on your door and arrest you.

0:20:30 > 0:20:34- I promise.- Promise what? - Stay away.- Stay away.

0:20:36 > 0:20:39With one case closed, Adge turns his attention

0:20:39 > 0:20:43to the lollipop lady who's been verbally abused,

0:20:43 > 0:20:47although, just like the deaf couple, she also doesn't want to prosecute.

0:20:47 > 0:20:50She wants me to go and speak to this individual

0:20:50 > 0:20:51that's shouted and sworn at her

0:20:51 > 0:20:54and that's exactly what I intend to do and we'll see if we can

0:20:54 > 0:20:57get hold of him and advise him accordingly.

0:20:58 > 0:21:00Adge only has details for the girlfriend

0:21:00 > 0:21:03of the man accused of making the attack.

0:21:04 > 0:21:07I've got a feeling that's her car outside.

0:21:07 > 0:21:08Yep, perfect.

0:21:08 > 0:21:10So, she's probably in.

0:21:11 > 0:21:14He's paying her a visit in the hope that the suspect

0:21:14 > 0:21:15will also be at the address.

0:21:17 > 0:21:20As hoped, the man is here,

0:21:20 > 0:21:23which gives Adge the opportunity to have a word.

0:21:23 > 0:21:25The other day outside the school,

0:21:25 > 0:21:28- with the lollipop lady. - I wasn't there!

0:21:28 > 0:21:30She's told me you've stuck your head outside the window

0:21:30 > 0:21:33- "Go put your- BLEEP BLEEP,"- OK?

0:21:33 > 0:21:36If you did, it was stupid.

0:21:36 > 0:21:38She doesn't want to take it any further

0:21:38 > 0:21:41so nobody's getting arrested and all this kind of stuff.

0:21:41 > 0:21:44I want to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

0:21:48 > 0:21:51Well, he completely denied it.

0:21:51 > 0:21:54We've got one person saying one thing

0:21:54 > 0:21:57but another person saying the opposite.

0:21:57 > 0:22:00But I've achieved what I wanted to achieve,

0:22:00 > 0:22:04giving him that message. Stay away, and if you see her, shut up.

0:22:15 > 0:22:18Several weeks later, Adge pays another visit to the school

0:22:18 > 0:22:21to find out whether Mandy, the lollipop lady,

0:22:21 > 0:22:22has had any more trouble.

0:22:22 > 0:22:26Have you seen that individual since I've spoken to him?

0:22:26 > 0:22:27- I have in passing.- Right, OK.

0:22:27 > 0:22:30- Nothing's happened.- OK.

0:22:30 > 0:22:32He's come past once, that's it.

0:22:32 > 0:22:34- Anything?- Nothing.

0:22:34 > 0:22:36Since the incident took place,

0:22:36 > 0:22:38Mandy has been wearing a body camera

0:22:38 > 0:22:41which has been given to her by the local council.

0:22:42 > 0:22:45How does that make you feel, having that on there?

0:22:45 > 0:22:46Oh, so easy. I feel so relaxed now.

0:22:46 > 0:22:50OK, it's only a bit of equipment but it's there. It's my reassurance.

0:22:50 > 0:22:53That's exactly what it's all about. That's really, really good.

0:22:53 > 0:22:54Excellent. I can see myself in there.

0:22:54 > 0:22:57I didn't realise I was so good-looking, to be honest with you!

0:22:57 > 0:22:59BOTH LAUGH

0:23:05 > 0:23:07In Weston-super-Mare,

0:23:07 > 0:23:10the neighbourhood team have been policing a McBusted concert,

0:23:10 > 0:23:12which has taken place on the seafront.

0:23:12 > 0:23:16Inspector Sharon Bennett and her team have already successfully

0:23:16 > 0:23:19shepherded over 12,000 visitors out of the venue.

0:23:19 > 0:23:23But now, in addition to the usual Saturday night crowds,

0:23:23 > 0:23:26they're faced with hundreds of extra visitors

0:23:26 > 0:23:28to the pubs and clubs of Weston.

0:23:28 > 0:23:30To help them deal with the increased workload,

0:23:30 > 0:23:34Sharon is briefing staff drafted in from other agencies

0:23:34 > 0:23:37including St John's Ambulance and the local hospital.

0:23:37 > 0:23:40The idea is we reduce the demand on A&E

0:23:40 > 0:23:43on what we anticipate could be the busiest night

0:23:43 > 0:23:46Weston's had all year.

0:23:46 > 0:23:49As Sharon and the team make their way out onto the streets,

0:23:49 > 0:23:54it looks as though spirits are high and a good time is being had by all.

0:23:55 > 0:23:59Oh, no! That is not a pleasant sight... Oh, dear...

0:24:01 > 0:24:03You're having a fun night!

0:24:04 > 0:24:06But, as the pubs begin to empty,

0:24:06 > 0:24:10the neighbourhood team find themselves increasingly busy.

0:24:10 > 0:24:14Calm down! Stay there, all right? Just calm down.

0:24:14 > 0:24:17There's drunken people around. A lot of hen parties, stag dos.

0:24:17 > 0:24:20She's getting married and it's all my fault.

0:24:20 > 0:24:21ALL SCREECH

0:24:21 > 0:24:24A lot of swearing, a lot of shouting, a lot of drunken people.

0:24:24 > 0:24:26The mood's shifted a little bit and we're a bit more on edge

0:24:26 > 0:24:29and just trying to deal with things nice and early.

0:24:29 > 0:24:32- SHOUTING Hey, ladies, ladies. - He hit her, he slapped- BLEEP.

0:24:32 > 0:24:34Things really are getting busy now

0:24:34 > 0:24:37as Sharon has bumped into the hen party again.

0:24:37 > 0:24:41And they're claiming to have come to blows with a stag party.

0:24:41 > 0:24:43Gobbing off?

0:24:43 > 0:24:46No, he smacked my face and then spat in hers.

0:24:46 > 0:24:48While Sharon deals with the hens,

0:24:48 > 0:24:52Sergeant Lee Kerslake has a word with the stags.

0:24:52 > 0:24:55Calm down for a second, and we'll just...

0:24:55 > 0:24:58He's told you it's for assault, mate.

0:24:58 > 0:25:00DRUNKEN MUMBLING

0:25:00 > 0:25:03- And is he her stag, is he?- Yeah.

0:25:04 > 0:25:08The hens are claiming that the chap dressed as a caveman

0:25:08 > 0:25:10has slapped one of them in the face.

0:25:10 > 0:25:14He had his bum out, like flashing, so we just tapped his bum,

0:25:14 > 0:25:16playing with him and he smacked my face.

0:25:16 > 0:25:18I haven't done anything.

0:25:18 > 0:25:22- A girl just punched me in the face, being nasty.- Right.

0:25:22 > 0:25:23This fella's denying it,

0:25:23 > 0:25:25but an accusation has been made

0:25:25 > 0:25:29and he'll have to be taken back to the station and interviewed.

0:25:29 > 0:25:32It looks like a stag party has met a hen party

0:25:32 > 0:25:35and the result has been some form of altercation.

0:25:35 > 0:25:37We think there's been an assault.

0:25:37 > 0:25:39We'll take him back and get to the bottom of everything.

0:25:39 > 0:25:42He was later released without charge.

0:25:42 > 0:25:45It isn't just the fallout from the pubs and clubs

0:25:45 > 0:25:47that the team have to deal with.

0:25:47 > 0:25:50One of the challenges of policing a coastal town like Weston

0:25:50 > 0:25:53is that the sea can also pose a threat.

0:25:53 > 0:25:56And Sharon's been called to help the Coastguard

0:25:56 > 0:25:58deal with a very serious incident.

0:25:58 > 0:26:00Her friends are reporting her missing out on the beach.

0:26:00 > 0:26:02They can hear her voice but can't see her.

0:26:02 > 0:26:05A distressed woman has been heard from the end of the pier

0:26:05 > 0:26:09and is believed to be trapped up to her waist in the mudflats.

0:26:09 > 0:26:12- Is that the coastguard?- Yeah.

0:26:12 > 0:26:14Coastguard, can you see them?

0:26:14 > 0:26:16Just out there, mate.

0:26:16 > 0:26:18But first, they need to find her.

0:26:19 > 0:26:21With the help of a night-vision camera,

0:26:21 > 0:26:24they think they know where she is.

0:26:24 > 0:26:25There.

0:26:25 > 0:26:27Where? There she is, yeah.

0:26:27 > 0:26:29- BLEEP,- can you see the light?

0:26:34 > 0:26:36SHE SOBS

0:26:36 > 0:26:38You're all right, I've got you.

0:26:38 > 0:26:41They've found her, and not a moment too soon -

0:26:41 > 0:26:46the sticky mud and an incoming tide are a lethal combination.

0:26:47 > 0:26:49We don't know what's gone on.

0:26:49 > 0:26:52We just literally saw the Coastguard turning up.

0:26:52 > 0:26:53They've had a report of a female in the mud

0:26:53 > 0:26:55who's been at the McBusted event today.

0:26:55 > 0:26:58She's had a bit too much to drink and run off for a bit of a joke

0:26:58 > 0:27:01into the mud but has clearly got a bit disorientated

0:27:01 > 0:27:02and stuck in the mud.

0:27:05 > 0:27:07She's clearly had too much to drink,

0:27:07 > 0:27:10don't know if there's anything else involved, and she's got a bit upset.

0:27:10 > 0:27:13For this concert-goer, the day hasn't had a happy ending,

0:27:13 > 0:27:16but thankfully, they've managed to get her out.

0:27:17 > 0:27:19We've got St John's Ambulance here

0:27:19 > 0:27:21as a bonus tonight so we're using them.
