0:02:23 > 0:02:25They're about to execute a warrant
0:02:25 > 0:02:28against a man suspected of using class A drugs.

0:02:31 > 0:02:35all intel is gathered in the formulation of police action plans.
0:02:38 > 0:02:40With his plan and a warrant in place,
0:02:40 > 0:02:44Mick and the team get suited up and head to the destination.
0:02:46 > 0:02:48The team are taking no chances on this one,

0:02:54 > 0:02:56Here you are.
0:02:56 > 0:02:58Go, go, go.
0:03:01 > 0:03:04Suspected drug users and abusers will do almost anything
0:03:04 > 0:03:07to avoid being caught red-handed with drugs
0:03:07 > 0:03:10so a surprise rapid entry is crucial.
0:03:10 > 0:03:13With one big swing, the door goes in.
0:03:13 > 0:03:14Police! Stay where you are!
0:03:14 > 0:03:16Sweeping through the house,
0:03:16 > 0:03:18Mick finds one of the suspects in the living room.
0:03:18 > 0:03:20Spit it out! Spit it out!
0:03:20 > 0:03:23Spit it out, now!
0:03:23 > 0:03:26He seems to be trying to swallow a suspicious-looking bundle.
0:03:26 > 0:03:29- You're not swallowing it. - I can't breathe.- Spit it out!
0:03:29 > 0:03:30Spit it out, now!
0:03:30 > 0:03:32Spit it out.
0:03:32 > 0:03:34Turn him over.
0:03:34 > 0:03:37All right, you're not swallowing it, spit it out. Spit it out!
0:03:37 > 0:03:39Spit it out!
0:03:39 > 0:03:41Is that it?
0:03:42 > 0:03:44Open your mouth wide.
0:03:44 > 0:03:46Just grab these wraps here, AJ.
0:03:46 > 0:03:49Another man is also detained, but it's the suspect with
0:03:49 > 0:03:52something in his mouth who is still causing problems.
0:03:52 > 0:03:55- All right, all right. - Put your hand behind your back!
0:03:55 > 0:03:56Now!
0:04:02 > 0:04:05Such is the urge to hide evidence from the police,
0:04:05 > 0:04:09some suspects will try to swallow evidence of illegal drugs,
0:04:09 > 0:04:12even if it causes them serious harm.
0:04:12 > 0:04:13BLEEP.
0:04:18 > 0:04:21Some small wraps have spilled out from his mouth
0:04:21 > 0:04:23which the police will gather as evidence.
0:04:27 > 0:04:30The suspect is cuffed and questioned by Mick.
0:04:32 > 0:04:33All right.
0:04:35 > 0:04:39- Have you got anything else?- No. - In your pockets, on your person?- No.
0:04:39 > 0:04:42You're going to get searched, I'm just asking the question, all right?
0:04:42 > 0:04:45Meanwhile, eagle-eyed Mick scans the floor and spots some more
0:04:45 > 0:04:49suspicious-looking wraps the man may have spat out.
0:04:52 > 0:04:55Back in the living room, following the high octane entry,
0:04:55 > 0:04:57the team have had chance to catch their breath
0:04:57 > 0:04:59and take stock of the situation.
0:04:59 > 0:05:03Yeah, so far we've got...
0:05:03 > 0:05:05Seven wraps,
0:05:05 > 0:05:07probably £10 deals each.
0:05:07 > 0:05:11Brown powder substance, probably heroin.
0:05:11 > 0:05:14The preliminary search of the house means Mick is confident
0:05:14 > 0:05:16there's enough to charge the suspect who was caught
0:05:16 > 0:05:17swallowing the drugs
0:05:17 > 0:05:21and has now had a quick costume change from his red football shirt.
0:05:23 > 0:05:25As the suspect has been arrested
0:05:25 > 0:05:27and is about to be taken to custody,
0:05:27 > 0:05:29Mick can describe exactly what happened
0:05:29 > 0:05:31when the police leapt upon him.
0:05:33 > 0:05:35He was actually, as we went into the living room,
0:05:35 > 0:05:38had a white pill bottle in his hand which clearly had all the drugs in it
0:05:38 > 0:05:40and he was tipping them down his throat.
0:05:40 > 0:05:42We've had that before and it's so problematic,
0:05:42 > 0:05:44there's nothing you can do about it.
0:05:44 > 0:05:47The only hope you've got is to stop them swallowing it
0:05:47 > 0:05:49which, unfortunately, sometimes means
0:05:49 > 0:05:53you've just got to block their airway for as long as you need to.
0:05:53 > 0:05:54Otherwise, he swallows that
0:05:54 > 0:05:57and it bursts in his stomach and he's going to die.
0:05:57 > 0:05:59Certainly going to end up in hospital.
0:05:59 > 0:06:01As well as we could expect, really.
0:06:01 > 0:06:05And we obviously got some drugs back so we'll slow things down now,
0:06:05 > 0:06:08do the search and see what the other three have got to say
0:06:08 > 0:06:09and what else we'll find in there.
0:06:09 > 0:06:12The other man who was in the property is also arrested
0:06:12 > 0:06:15but not in relation to any drugs charges.
0:06:15 > 0:06:18The police recognise him as being wanted in connection with
0:06:18 > 0:06:22a shop theft which they will charge him with back down at the station.
0:06:23 > 0:06:27Find out later if the police search of the house turns up a bounty of
0:06:27 > 0:06:32stolen goods and what happens when neighbours get caught up in the mix.
0:06:32 > 0:06:34Don't snatch out of my hand!
0:06:41 > 0:06:45Incidents of bogus callers are on the rise in the UK.
0:06:46 > 0:06:49Last year around three million people were targeted.
0:06:50 > 0:06:54In Humberside, the police are always on the lookout for swindlers,
0:06:54 > 0:06:55fraudsters and con men
0:06:55 > 0:06:59targeting the most vulnerable members of the community.
0:06:59 > 0:07:02Inspector Steve Lamb explains more.
0:07:02 > 0:07:07Certainly in my area, several reports of what we call bogus callers,
0:07:07 > 0:07:11so people purporting to represent the gas board
0:07:11 > 0:07:15or the electricity agency or the water companies
0:07:15 > 0:07:17will gain access to properties,
0:07:17 > 0:07:21distract the elderly occupants
0:07:21 > 0:07:25while an accomplice will probably go and have a search around
0:07:25 > 0:07:29and steal whatever property that they can do.
0:07:29 > 0:07:34My grandmother was robbed in her own home in South East London and she...
0:07:36 > 0:07:39..she needed protecting and it's very, very difficult
0:07:39 > 0:07:40because they trust everybody,
0:07:40 > 0:07:43cos in her generation you did trust everybody
0:07:43 > 0:07:45and you left your door open, but you can't do that now.
0:07:45 > 0:07:49Over in Drypool, reports have come into the neighbourhood office
0:07:49 > 0:07:53of a cowboy builder driving around and targeting old-age pensioners
0:07:53 > 0:07:57with a scam to repair paving, guttering and windows.
0:07:57 > 0:08:01PCSO Neil Brewer is on his way to pay a visit to a man who believes
0:08:01 > 0:08:03he may have been targeted by the scamster.
0:08:03 > 0:08:08'Gent from this address has called us in a bit of a panic yesterday.
0:08:08 > 0:08:10'He's had some people calling at his address.
0:08:10 > 0:08:13'They've been upstairs, all over really,
0:08:13 > 0:08:15'and he's just concerned that they're coming back.'
0:08:15 > 0:08:17- Did you do all these?- Yeah.
0:08:17 > 0:08:21They are fantastic. The banana one, the monkey one, that's great.
0:08:21 > 0:08:23The man himself is a keen artist
0:08:23 > 0:08:26but it's his story about the con artist who paid him a visit
0:08:26 > 0:08:29that has the police's attention.
0:08:29 > 0:08:31The man goes on to describe the bizarre actions
0:08:31 > 0:08:34of the cowboy builder who went around the house
0:08:34 > 0:08:37pointing a phoney electronic device which he said could detect
0:08:37 > 0:08:41if the seals of a window were damaged and needed repair.
0:08:41 > 0:08:44So he went "Beep-beep, beep-beep. Yeah, that's all right."
0:08:44 > 0:08:46And then he walked over there and he went,
0:08:46 > 0:08:49"Beep-beep, yeah, they're OK." And he goes into the...
0:08:49 > 0:08:52the back room and he goes in there and he goes, "Beep-beep.
0:08:52 > 0:08:54"No, that's no good." And then he said,
0:08:54 > 0:08:58"I can get that done for you for so many hundred pounds."
0:08:58 > 0:09:01It'll be a scam, that, cos you don't judge if a window needs
0:09:01 > 0:09:05replacing or not with something that you, a hand-held device, do you?
0:09:05 > 0:09:08So that initially leads me to believe they'll be rogue traders.
0:09:08 > 0:09:11Once they're in your house, they could be looking around going...
0:09:11 > 0:09:13- It could happen, couldn't it? - "We can come back for something."
0:09:13 > 0:09:16I don't have anything that's worth nicking, really.
0:09:16 > 0:09:18Maybe that's fortunate for you, you know?
0:09:18 > 0:09:19Maybe they weren't art fans.
0:09:19 > 0:09:22What are you going to do if they come back?
0:09:22 > 0:09:25- Ask them in for a cup of tea. - THEY LAUGH
0:09:25 > 0:09:29Humour aside, Neil asks the man if he managed to take a phone number
0:09:29 > 0:09:32- or jot down the numberplate of the scamster.- Oh, here we are.
0:09:32 > 0:09:33And the team are in luck
0:09:33 > 0:09:37as he did manage to record a vehicle registration.
0:09:37 > 0:09:40It's funny he didn't leave a telephone number.
0:09:40 > 0:09:43Neil will investigate the van and the owner's details
0:09:43 > 0:09:45back at the station, but before he leaves
0:09:45 > 0:09:49he has some advice and support on dealing with bogus callers.
0:09:49 > 0:09:51- I'm going to pop back tomorrow.- Yeah?
0:09:51 > 0:09:54Yeah, with a sheet of paper, some tips on there,
0:09:54 > 0:09:57some hints on there for what you should be doing next time
0:09:57 > 0:10:00someone like that knocks at your door cos if they've conned you once,
0:10:00 > 0:10:03they'll come and con you again. All right, take care.
0:10:03 > 0:10:04Nice to speak to you.
0:10:04 > 0:10:07And the good news is there's been no more monkey business in the area
0:10:07 > 0:10:10as an increased police presence and leaflet drop
0:10:10 > 0:10:14raised public awareness and has driven the con men away.
0:10:20 > 0:10:23Sergeant Mick Stevenson and his community reassurance team
0:10:23 > 0:10:26have been stepping up their actions in the war against
0:10:26 > 0:10:29Hull's drug users and abusers.
0:10:31 > 0:10:34Over in Marfleet, one home has been raided
0:10:34 > 0:10:37and the suspect found trying to swallow
0:10:37 > 0:10:39what looks like wraps of heroin.
0:10:39 > 0:10:42Another man is also arrested at the property
0:10:42 > 0:10:44in connection with a shop-lifting charge.
0:10:45 > 0:10:50We've clearly got one guy in custody for possession with intent to supply
0:10:50 > 0:10:52and this guy's in custody for shop theft.
0:10:52 > 0:10:55They're not linked in relation to what we're actually dealing with here
0:10:55 > 0:10:56so there's no issue.
0:10:56 > 0:10:59We're going to take both of them into the custody suite and get rid.
0:10:59 > 0:11:01Just means we aren't tying officers up all the time
0:11:01 > 0:11:03looking after prisoners at the scene.
0:11:05 > 0:11:08As the suspects are taken back to the police station,
0:11:08 > 0:11:12the activity draws unwanted attention from a curious biker
0:11:12 > 0:11:16and Mick finds himself on the receiving end of some backchat.
0:11:16 > 0:11:18Pull your motorbike out of the way onto the grass.
0:11:18 > 0:11:21- Get that camera out my- BLEEP- face now.- And don't start swearing...
0:11:21 > 0:11:23And it's not long before a woman joins in.
0:11:23 > 0:11:25You're going to get locked up, all right?
0:11:25 > 0:11:28If you hadn't have stopped, it wouldn't have happened.
0:11:28 > 0:11:31- He was meeting me.- I'm not allowed to stop at the side of the road?
0:11:31 > 0:11:34I said to you, "Move on." Didn't I? And you said, "No."
0:11:34 > 0:11:37No, you were just being nosey and I didn't want you here. Simple as.
0:11:37 > 0:11:39Well, if you don't like it, mate, don't stop and be nosey.
0:11:41 > 0:11:43As the man continues to give the police aggro,
0:11:43 > 0:11:47Mick requests a background check on him and his moped.
0:11:47 > 0:11:49He'll need to go back to work.
0:11:52 > 0:11:57Proving that the police always need to be prepared for the unexpected,
0:11:57 > 0:11:59this happens.
0:11:59 > 0:12:01- Oi!- You're not taking them.
0:12:01 > 0:12:03The woman snatches the moped keys and legs it.
0:12:04 > 0:12:07You're obstructing the police.
0:12:07 > 0:12:08No!
0:12:08 > 0:12:10The police race after her
0:12:10 > 0:12:13and attempt to wrestle the keys out of her hands.
0:12:13 > 0:12:16Don't snatch it out of my hand!
0:12:16 > 0:12:17Well, just...
0:12:18 > 0:12:21- No! Get off me!- Let go of the keys. - Let go of the dog.
0:12:21 > 0:12:22Let go of the keys now.
0:12:22 > 0:12:26- It's legal, that bike.- Well, if it is legal, you can have it back.
0:12:26 > 0:12:28Leave go.
0:12:28 > 0:12:31- Who do you think you- BLEEP- are?
0:12:31 > 0:12:32Don't start.
0:12:33 > 0:12:35The keys stay with us.
0:12:35 > 0:12:37Once we establish if it is, then they can have them back.
0:12:37 > 0:12:41But she obviously wasn't prepared to be reasonable about it.
0:12:42 > 0:12:44She can't take them, can she?
0:12:44 > 0:12:46She's obstructing us in our enquiries.
0:12:46 > 0:12:49- What? Taking my keys out of my bike? - Yeah.- Go away.
0:12:49 > 0:12:50Let's go have a look at the bike.
0:12:50 > 0:12:53Mick chooses to ignore the woman's aggravating behaviour
0:12:53 > 0:12:56and the bolshie biker, returning to the job in hand.
0:12:58 > 0:12:59Back inside the house,
0:12:59 > 0:13:03the team have knuckled down to scouring the entire property.
0:13:04 > 0:13:06When you're dealing with drugs, as you can see,
0:13:06 > 0:13:09they're very, very small and they could be put anywhere, really.
0:13:09 > 0:13:12So it's just a question of being slow and meticulous.
0:13:12 > 0:13:16In this room, there's probably several hundred video cassettes,
0:13:16 > 0:13:20some DVDs, a lot of them just laid on the bed
0:13:20 > 0:13:23so what we're going to do is clear the bed, search the bed
0:13:23 > 0:13:27and once that's clear, we'll start going through each box individually.
0:13:27 > 0:13:31There are no hidden video nasties here concealing any drugs
0:13:31 > 0:13:32but in an another room
0:13:32 > 0:13:36suspicions are aroused by what may be stolen goods.
0:13:36 > 0:13:38First up is a laptop.
0:13:38 > 0:13:40It's got A-S-A.
0:13:40 > 0:13:43- That'll be somebody's Christian name, won't it?- Yeah.
0:13:43 > 0:13:45There we go, that's what they're charging it with.
0:13:47 > 0:13:49That box is brand spanking new, innit?
0:13:49 > 0:13:52And there's a small matter of a security stamped bike
0:13:52 > 0:13:54not registered to this property.
0:13:54 > 0:13:58You get hundreds stolen every year, thousands stolen every year,
0:13:58 > 0:14:01and they just seem to disappear off the face of the Earth.
0:14:01 > 0:14:04So at least we have got a fighting chance with this one.
0:14:05 > 0:14:09Oh, and what about the mower with a bucket full of grass in it?
0:14:10 > 0:14:12It's full of fresh grass cuttings,
0:14:12 > 0:14:15that ain't come from here cos they haven't been cutting the lawn
0:14:15 > 0:14:18so, again, you know, we need to make some enquiries into that.
0:14:18 > 0:14:22But the initial ones don't tell us it's stolen
0:14:22 > 0:14:24but we suspect it will be eventually.
0:14:24 > 0:14:27It's turning out to be quite a haul for the team
0:14:27 > 0:14:30and there's more evidence of criminal activity
0:14:30 > 0:14:33in the form of an electricity meter being bypassed.
0:14:34 > 0:14:38Looks like they've actually attempted to bypass the electricity.
0:14:38 > 0:14:41There's obviously wires cutting across there
0:14:41 > 0:14:44so we've just rang the MeterPlus company
0:14:44 > 0:14:46and they'll send an engineer down just to double check
0:14:46 > 0:14:49and then obviously the council will take it from there
0:14:49 > 0:14:51for abstracting electricity.
0:14:52 > 0:14:55Bags of possible drugs-related evidence have been collected
0:14:55 > 0:14:58and a number of suspected stolen items removed.
0:15:00 > 0:15:02But it's just another day's work for the team
0:15:02 > 0:15:05and the standard reward for their labour
0:15:05 > 0:15:07is waiting for them at the end of the day.
0:15:07 > 0:15:11Back to the station, yeah. Something to eat and a cup of coffee I think.
0:15:13 > 0:15:15The drugs swallower was charged with
0:15:15 > 0:15:18possessing a controlled class A drug,
0:15:18 > 0:15:23two counts of handling stolen goods and abstracting electricity.
0:15:23 > 0:15:28He was given a 12 month community order of 80 hours of unpaid work
0:15:28 > 0:15:31and had to pay costs and a victim surcharge.
0:15:32 > 0:15:34The other man pleaded guilty to theft
0:15:34 > 0:15:37and had to pay compensation for what he'd stolen.
0:15:41 > 0:15:43Find out later how Mick and the team get on
0:15:43 > 0:15:46when they take on their second raid of the day.
0:15:54 > 0:15:57Clamping down on criminals in the community is the driving force
0:15:57 > 0:16:00of neighbourhood policing and for the teams
0:16:00 > 0:16:03it all starts with making the streets feel a safer place.
0:16:07 > 0:16:09The neighbourhood team are there to serve and protect
0:16:09 > 0:16:12all members of the community.
0:16:13 > 0:16:17Hate-related crimes have fallen steadily in the past few years,
0:16:17 > 0:16:19in part due to the increased public awareness
0:16:19 > 0:16:23and a more proactive policing stance against them.
0:16:25 > 0:16:28If any suspected hate crime does get reported,
0:16:28 > 0:16:31the police are always fast to investigate.
0:16:34 > 0:16:35Today, over in Bridlington,
0:16:35 > 0:16:39Liam Whittington is on his way to visit a woman who believes
0:16:39 > 0:16:41she may have been a victim of one such crime.
0:16:43 > 0:16:46We're just going up to attend an address in the village of Bempton
0:16:46 > 0:16:49which is just outside Bridlington,
0:16:49 > 0:16:51and unfortunately this lady that we're going to see
0:16:51 > 0:16:56has been a victim of crime and it is her second crime report
0:16:56 > 0:16:59that she's had within a space of a couple of weeks.
0:16:59 > 0:17:04It's always difficult when you're dealing with such remote locations
0:17:04 > 0:17:09because, from an evidence point of view, it's such a quiet location,
0:17:09 > 0:17:12there's generally not many members of the public about
0:17:12 > 0:17:16that could potentially be used as witnesses to an incident.
0:17:18 > 0:17:21The woman has had her car tyres slashed on two occasions
0:17:21 > 0:17:24and is keen to let Liam know all the details.
0:17:24 > 0:17:27Cos sometimes they said that people put their hands before they...
0:17:27 > 0:17:28That's right.
0:17:28 > 0:17:31But that's what made me think that maybe it was someone that seemed
0:17:31 > 0:17:34to know what they were doing because the car's not exactly,
0:17:34 > 0:17:37it gets dirty around the rim and I looked all the way round
0:17:37 > 0:17:40and it was the same as last time, I couldn't see anything on it and...
0:17:40 > 0:17:42As a gay woman,
0:17:42 > 0:17:45she is concerned that her sexuality may have made her a target
0:17:45 > 0:17:47for the attacks.
0:17:47 > 0:17:50- ..cos of the fact that a lot of people don't like gay people.- Right.
0:17:50 > 0:17:53And even though it's obviously like a different era,
0:17:53 > 0:17:56you think people are more sort of tolerant.
0:17:56 > 0:17:58It's not too like that in smaller villages
0:17:58 > 0:18:02so sometimes you can get a bit of maybe banter from the children,
0:18:02 > 0:18:07well, I say children, teenagers, or you can get sort of...
0:18:07 > 0:18:10I've had people when I've been walking back shouting
0:18:10 > 0:18:14various sort of usual words that you call people that are gay, really.
0:18:14 > 0:18:16I think that's important that I make sure that
0:18:16 > 0:18:19I let the investigating officer dealing with that know
0:18:19 > 0:18:23that there's issues going on cos obviously I think it's connected.
0:18:23 > 0:18:25Yeah, it does make you worry a bit more.
0:18:25 > 0:18:29As well as gathering information that can help with an investigation,
0:18:29 > 0:18:33a key part of Liam's job is to offer reassurance to victims of crime
0:18:33 > 0:18:37and to suggest ways to tackle problems in the future.
0:18:37 > 0:18:39Really look into CCTV.
0:18:39 > 0:18:41Yeah, I will definitely look at that more seriously now.
0:18:41 > 0:18:43Yeah, cos it will give you peace of mind
0:18:43 > 0:18:46and, as I say, it can protect your property
0:18:46 > 0:18:50and hopefully deter any further problems and any further incidents.
0:18:50 > 0:18:52And in the meantime, any further problems,
0:18:52 > 0:18:54any suspicious persons knocking around that you think,
0:18:54 > 0:18:57"I'm not happy with what they're doing,"
0:18:57 > 0:18:59just report it, log it into us.
0:18:59 > 0:19:01Have you got any questions you'd like to ask?
0:19:01 > 0:19:02Anything you're a bit unsure of?
0:19:02 > 0:19:04No, I think that's pretty much covered it, yeah.
0:19:04 > 0:19:07- No, it has made me feel better. - Good.
0:19:07 > 0:19:09The visit will prove to have been a success.
0:19:09 > 0:19:13Following the attacks, police patrols in the area were stepped up
0:19:13 > 0:19:17and the woman has not suffered any further incident since.
0:19:17 > 0:19:20- All right.- Thanks a lot, cheers.
0:19:20 > 0:19:23- Thank you very much.- Thank you. - Take care.- See you.
0:19:32 > 0:19:36The pursuit of the body beautiful has driven thousands of people
0:19:36 > 0:19:40in the UK to use muscle building steroids every year.
0:19:42 > 0:19:46Whilst fitness enthusiasts have warned of the many dangers,
0:19:46 > 0:19:49the black market in these illegal pharmaceuticals is thriving,
0:19:49 > 0:19:51worth millions of pounds each year.
0:19:53 > 0:19:57With a search warrant for illegal substances to execute,
0:19:57 > 0:20:00Sergeant Mick Stevenson fills in his team.
0:20:00 > 0:20:02Right, guys, this morning's job then.
0:20:04 > 0:20:08The target has been on the police's radar for some time.
0:20:10 > 0:20:12We'll give him chance to come and open the door.
0:20:12 > 0:20:15If he's going to mess around with us then the door will go in
0:20:15 > 0:20:18and with that in mind, I'll just ask Andy and Dave
0:20:18 > 0:20:21if you'll kit up just in case we need to do the door.
0:20:21 > 0:20:24But, as I say, there's no rush and once we arrive
0:20:24 > 0:20:27we'll assess which one we think is going to be easiest
0:20:27 > 0:20:29if we have to do a door, back or front.
0:20:29 > 0:20:33Just keep your eye open for cash and they want electronic devices
0:20:33 > 0:20:38including laptops, PCs and obviously mobile phones,
0:20:38 > 0:20:40they all want seizing.
0:20:40 > 0:20:43It's not going to be easily disposable.
0:20:43 > 0:20:46Today's warrant covers the suspect's house
0:20:46 > 0:20:49and a premises possibly associated with him,
0:20:49 > 0:20:52as there's reason to believe both places may be home
0:20:52 > 0:20:54to possible illegal substances.
0:20:54 > 0:20:58I'm going to send four staff but with two vans.
0:20:59 > 0:21:04We don't know whether he's going to be home, at work or in-between.
0:21:06 > 0:21:09Despatching police to each location,
0:21:09 > 0:21:13Mick leads the team going directly to the man's house.
0:21:13 > 0:21:16Normally, police waste no time breaking down a locked door
0:21:16 > 0:21:19as it's essential to avoid any evidence being destroyed
0:21:19 > 0:21:21before the police can seize it.
0:21:21 > 0:21:23But, with the kinds of drugs suspected here,
0:21:23 > 0:21:26that's not a worry Mick has.
0:21:26 > 0:21:29He knocks, hoping a less damaging entry can be made.
0:21:35 > 0:21:39An upstairs curtain twitch confirms someone's home.
0:21:39 > 0:21:43Looks like the big red key might not be needed after all.
0:21:50 > 0:21:52Thank you.
0:21:52 > 0:21:54- You just stay down here, yeah?- Yep.
0:21:54 > 0:21:57Just explain to you that we've executed a warrant
0:21:57 > 0:21:59- under the misuse of drugs act. - BLEEP.- OK?
0:22:01 > 0:22:05What I'll ask you to do is just stay down here in this room
0:22:05 > 0:22:08until we've concluded the search or until we're at the point
0:22:08 > 0:22:12where we might be taking further action, that remains to be seen.
0:22:12 > 0:22:13As the search gets underway,
0:22:13 > 0:22:16Mick asks for the keys to the other premises.
0:22:16 > 0:22:19Hopefully they'll be no need to break the other door either.
0:22:19 > 0:22:23- What's that? The internal door?- Yeah.
0:22:23 > 0:22:26Steroids and other hormone-based substances are immediately found
0:22:26 > 0:22:28at the man's home.
0:22:28 > 0:22:31What we've got there is five of the...
0:22:31 > 0:22:37I think they're 5ml ampoules of testosterone, which is a steroid.
0:22:39 > 0:22:42And then there's the box containing...
0:22:46 > 0:22:51..tablets which are also some form of steroid or supplement.
0:22:51 > 0:22:54Although it's not illegal to be in possession of steroids,
0:22:54 > 0:22:58it's a criminal offence to possess or import with intent to supply
0:22:58 > 0:23:01these kinds of class C drugs.
0:23:01 > 0:23:05Doing so can lead to a prison sentence of up to 14 years.
0:23:09 > 0:23:13Unprescribed supplies of the anti-anxiety medication diazepam
0:23:13 > 0:23:15are found, together with steroids.
0:23:15 > 0:23:17These so-called tranqs or downers
0:23:17 > 0:23:20provide enough evidence for the police to arrest the man.
0:23:20 > 0:23:21Listen to what I say, OK?
0:23:21 > 0:23:24You're under arrest on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug
0:23:24 > 0:23:27- so you don't have to say anything but it may harm your...- BLEEP.
0:23:27 > 0:23:28..later rely on in court.
0:23:28 > 0:23:31Anything you do say may be given in evidence, OK?
0:23:35 > 0:23:38With the suspect off to the station to be booked in,
0:23:38 > 0:23:41the team can really get to grips with searching the house.
0:23:51 > 0:23:55Later, we learn what the other property might be hiding.
0:23:59 > 0:24:00Still to come,
0:24:00 > 0:24:03some late night revellers get given their marching orders
0:24:03 > 0:24:04by the neighbourhood team.
0:24:04 > 0:24:07You have to leave the town centre,
0:24:07 > 0:24:11the whole of Bridlington immediately otherwise you will be arrested.
0:24:11 > 0:24:14And a moped menace tries to give the police the run-around.
0:24:23 > 0:24:26When the good weather arrives, the pubs and sun spots become
0:24:26 > 0:24:30a magnet for people looking to enjoy a drink in the sunshine.
0:24:30 > 0:24:33But there'll always be those looking to have a few too many
0:24:33 > 0:24:38at the pub or break the no drinking zone rule in the city centres.
0:24:38 > 0:24:40To tackle the problem,
0:24:40 > 0:24:43the neighbourhood team can use section 27 banning orders
0:24:43 > 0:24:46which bar people from an area for 48 hours
0:24:46 > 0:24:49if they're causing anti-social behaviour.
0:24:50 > 0:24:53A lot of people get drunk, they can't handle their alcohol
0:24:53 > 0:24:56and it only takes one funny look from across the street
0:24:56 > 0:24:59and you've got a full fight breaking out.
0:24:59 > 0:25:04The police and the people who own the pubs have done a lot of work
0:25:04 > 0:25:09in making sure the city's safe for anybody to go out in the evenings.
0:25:09 > 0:25:12And today the team are out in force with red cards
0:25:12 > 0:25:16in their pockets should any merrymakers step out of line.
0:25:16 > 0:25:19The spring sunshine's come out and with the spring sunshine
0:25:19 > 0:25:21we've brought along our spring drinkers in the different types.
0:25:21 > 0:25:24We've got the pub drinkers who've had a bit too much,
0:25:24 > 0:25:26we've got the street drinkers...
0:25:26 > 0:25:28It changes what we do on a daily basis.
0:25:28 > 0:25:30Sun tends to bring drink, alcohol
0:25:30 > 0:25:33and all the related things that come with that.
0:25:33 > 0:25:36Reports are coming through of a man who may be on the wrong side
0:25:36 > 0:25:38of a few sunshine pints.
0:25:38 > 0:25:42We've got a male that I believe they've ejected due to his behaviour
0:25:42 > 0:25:45and he's refusing to leave the area.
0:25:45 > 0:25:47But, as Paul heads off,
0:25:47 > 0:25:49there's a spot of archaeological protection work
0:25:49 > 0:25:51that needs doing first.
0:25:51 > 0:25:54But I'm going to go be a bit of a killjoy unfortunately.
0:25:56 > 0:25:59Guys, I know you're not causing a massive problem
0:25:59 > 0:26:02but can I ask you to come this side of the barriers?
0:26:02 > 0:26:05Just the bricks there are part of the old city wall
0:26:05 > 0:26:08and if they're damaged they basically can't be replaced
0:26:08 > 0:26:12and the council obviously have a very valid issue with them being damaged.
0:26:12 > 0:26:14Yeah, all of this, no problem.
0:26:14 > 0:26:17It's just the old bricks, they're hundreds and hundreds of years old
0:26:17 > 0:26:19and we can't replace them, OK?
0:26:19 > 0:26:21Cheers, guys.
0:26:21 > 0:26:23I think it's parkour, they call it,
0:26:23 > 0:26:25which is kind of movement, a quick movement
0:26:25 > 0:26:28over objects and things in urban settings.
0:26:28 > 0:26:30It's only something I became aware of a few years ago.
0:26:30 > 0:26:32They're not out to cause trouble,
0:26:32 > 0:26:35they just want to be doing something that they enjoy doing
0:26:35 > 0:26:38and if you ask them not to do it in a certain area or something,
0:26:38 > 0:26:40they're usually quite amiable about it.
0:26:40 > 0:26:43Arriving at the bar, Paul discovers the ruckus
0:26:43 > 0:26:46and the dodgy drinker is still going.
0:26:46 > 0:26:49Yeah, I believe this male's causing problems at William Wilberforce's
0:26:49 > 0:26:51and continuing to do so. Can we have a patrol down here?
0:26:51 > 0:26:54- BLEEP.- Go on, then, off you go.
0:26:54 > 0:26:56Off you go.
0:26:56 > 0:27:00The man's ejected and, though the doorman's adamant
0:27:00 > 0:27:02the customer's no longer welcome,
0:27:02 > 0:27:04the message is struggling to get through.
0:27:04 > 0:27:05- Come on, pal.- Off you go.
0:27:05 > 0:27:08Come on, they don't want you, let's go over here. Don't take hold of me.
0:27:08 > 0:27:11- Yeah, fair enough.- Let's go over here, then.- Right, you don't need
0:27:11 > 0:27:14- your hand there, do you?- You let go of me and we'll go over here.
0:27:14 > 0:27:17- He's asking you to leave and it finishes there.- I know my rights.
0:27:17 > 0:27:18- Right.- Why's your hand there?
0:27:18 > 0:27:21And I'm saying you don't need to go back in there
0:27:21 > 0:27:23- so we're going over there. - Are you butters or what?- What?
0:27:23 > 0:27:26- Are you butters or what? - Am I butters? Who?
0:27:26 > 0:27:30As the man turns offensive, Paul steps in to head off trouble.
0:27:30 > 0:27:32Right, mate, come over here, please.
0:27:32 > 0:27:34Thank you very much.
0:27:34 > 0:27:35Right, OK, what's your details, mate?
0:27:35 > 0:27:38My details are 115.
0:27:38 > 0:27:41- A surname and a first name?- 115.
0:27:41 > 0:27:43I want a surname and a first name, please.
0:27:43 > 0:27:46- You don't need my surname and first name.- Well, I'm asking you for it.
0:27:46 > 0:27:48- You really don't, right? - So you're refusing details?
0:27:48 > 0:27:51You're having a laugh cos I study law so we'll see in a minute.
0:27:51 > 0:27:54Right, because of your behaviour, I'm requesting your details.
0:27:54 > 0:27:57I believe you're acting in an anti-social manner,
0:27:57 > 0:27:59- I'm requesting your details.- BLEEP.
0:27:59 > 0:28:01Right, watch your language, please.
0:28:01 > 0:28:04- All right, come and speak to me. - Why are you touching me?
0:28:04 > 0:28:07- Why are you touching me? - Come and speak to me over here.
0:28:07 > 0:28:10On more time and you'll go with him, all right?
0:28:10 > 0:28:13I'm doing you a favour now, so shut it and listen.
0:28:13 > 0:28:17Rather than arrest the man, police issue him with a section 27,
0:28:17 > 0:28:20banning him from the area for the next 48 hours.
0:28:20 > 0:28:23As you can see, he wasn't being very cooperative.
0:28:23 > 0:28:26Rather than locking somebody up for being drunk and disorderly
0:28:26 > 0:28:28or another offence, they can get them out of the area
0:28:28 > 0:28:31because they've got too much drink in them, hopefully they'll
0:28:31 > 0:28:34calm down and the whole situation is kind of cooled off.
0:28:34 > 0:28:37With alcohol affecting people in different ways,
0:28:37 > 0:28:40you never know what or who you might have on your hands
0:28:40 > 0:28:42when the serious drinking gets under way.
0:28:44 > 0:28:47Paul shares a joke with these happy drinkers
0:28:47 > 0:28:50but he's got bad news for a young man
0:28:50 > 0:28:52who's enjoying a tin in the street.
0:28:52 > 0:28:54Can I have your alcohol, please?
0:28:56 > 0:28:58No, mate, you can't drink in the city centre anywhere.
0:28:58 > 0:29:00If I sup it all before a minute, can I do that?
0:29:00 > 0:29:03You can but I'll give you a £60 ticket for the pleasure.
0:29:03 > 0:29:04What for?
0:29:04 > 0:29:07For drinking in an undesignated area when you've been told not to.
0:29:07 > 0:29:10- Let me sup half of it and I'll bin it then.- No.
0:29:13 > 0:29:17- OK? The whole city centre, no drinking.- BLEEP.
0:29:17 > 0:29:18OK, if you've got any more,
0:29:18 > 0:29:22keep it in your bags or you'll get it all taken off you.
0:29:22 > 0:29:25We're trying to stop disorder before it starts
0:29:25 > 0:29:28and if we've got people drinking on the streets
0:29:28 > 0:29:31it not only shows a negative image of the city centre,
0:29:31 > 0:29:34it can breed anti-social behaviour later on in the day
0:29:34 > 0:29:36and it only means that officers later on in the evening
0:29:36 > 0:29:40are going to have to deal with it when I've gone off duty.
0:29:47 > 0:29:49Executing a double search warrant,
0:29:49 > 0:29:52police have found a collection of controlled drugs...
0:29:52 > 0:29:53Thank you.
0:29:53 > 0:29:56..including diazepam and testosterone.
0:29:59 > 0:30:01It's time for the house search to get serious...
0:30:04 > 0:30:06..and a second team to visit another premises.
0:30:10 > 0:30:13Amongst the legit body building substances,
0:30:13 > 0:30:15energy bars and protein powder shakes,
0:30:15 > 0:30:17the Neighbourhood Team immediately uncover items
0:30:17 > 0:30:19that definitely don't belong.
0:30:22 > 0:30:23Vials.
0:30:26 > 0:30:27Testosterone.
0:30:28 > 0:30:31But not all the items found can be identified.
0:30:31 > 0:30:34That's going to need expert investigation.
0:30:34 > 0:30:36There's no labels on the bottle
0:30:36 > 0:30:38so it will have to be sent off for testing.
0:30:38 > 0:30:39There's 15 of those.
0:30:42 > 0:30:44Back at the house the search has uncovered
0:30:44 > 0:30:47a huge variety of controlled substances,
0:30:47 > 0:30:50and the living room carpet looks more like a chemist counter
0:30:50 > 0:30:52than a private home.
0:30:52 > 0:30:55Recent legislation means it's no longer legal to buy these
0:30:55 > 0:30:59steroids online and so obtaining such drugs means physically
0:30:59 > 0:31:01bringing them in from other countries
0:31:01 > 0:31:04where they can still be bought over the counter.
0:31:04 > 0:31:08But importing them into the country to sell on remains illegal.
0:31:08 > 0:31:09BLEEP.
0:31:11 > 0:31:16- BLEEP. BLEEP.- Yeah.- It looks like there they've got a year visa.
0:31:17 > 0:31:20Within the kitchen there were a couple of carrier bags that
0:31:20 > 0:31:23when we walked in and looked around without doing any searching,
0:31:23 > 0:31:25I looked across and just thought,
0:31:25 > 0:31:27"There's a couple of bags full of food."
0:31:27 > 0:31:30And actually what we had in there were many different
0:31:30 > 0:31:34types of steroids and tablets and powders.
0:31:34 > 0:31:39It looked as though they'd been put into bags ready for delivery,
0:31:39 > 0:31:42cos there's all different types in each individual bag.
0:31:43 > 0:31:47Meticulously collating all the various substances
0:31:47 > 0:31:49turns the kitchen table into a DIY pharmacy.
0:31:50 > 0:31:54And bagging up the evidence requires all hands on deck.
0:32:00 > 0:32:01As long as body builders
0:32:01 > 0:32:04and gym enthusiasts are prepared to break the law
0:32:04 > 0:32:06in pursuit of their dream physique,
0:32:06 > 0:32:10supplies of testosterone and other steroids will have a market.
0:32:11 > 0:32:15With no corner left unexplored, large quantities of cash
0:32:15 > 0:32:17and receipts are discovered.
0:32:17 > 0:32:19Payment receipts.
0:32:19 > 0:32:21Where it looks like cash amounts have been paid
0:32:21 > 0:32:24into certain bank accounts.
0:32:24 > 0:32:28The vast quantities of evidence are now all bagged and marked.
0:32:28 > 0:32:31Their contents will be tested to prove that they are steroids.
0:32:31 > 0:32:33This is a major haul for the team
0:32:33 > 0:32:37and the high visibility nature of these kinds of raids
0:32:37 > 0:32:40sends a reassuring message to the public that the police
0:32:40 > 0:32:44are working around the clock to make communities a better place.
0:32:44 > 0:32:46The suspect is currently awaiting trial
0:32:46 > 0:32:48for their part in the incident.
0:32:54 > 0:32:57Nothing makes people feel safer than the sight of a Bobby on the beat.
0:32:57 > 0:32:59But the Neighbourhood Team's
0:32:59 > 0:33:03foot patrols are often carried out to keep specific problems in check
0:33:03 > 0:33:06no matter how big or small they may be.
0:33:08 > 0:33:11For some football supporters, watching your team can involve
0:33:11 > 0:33:14getting on the wrong side of a few too many pints,
0:33:14 > 0:33:16win, lose or draw.
0:33:16 > 0:33:18But, for one group of away supporters,
0:33:18 > 0:33:21the fun has left them high and dry in Bridlington
0:33:21 > 0:33:24as they've ended up missing their coach home.
0:33:24 > 0:33:27Constable Nikki Cammis has already met them once this evening
0:33:27 > 0:33:30and has had a few words, but they're going nowhere fast
0:33:30 > 0:33:32and when she spots them a second time
0:33:32 > 0:33:35it's time to make things crystal clear.
0:33:35 > 0:33:37Right, your girlfriend isn't picking you up.
0:33:37 > 0:33:39She made that clear to me, first of all.
0:33:39 > 0:33:42I've had reports of you throwing glass bottles on the seafront.
0:33:42 > 0:33:43- What's that about?- That's bollocks.
0:33:43 > 0:33:48There's CCTV. Let me talk. There is CCTV all over this town.
0:33:48 > 0:33:51You're going to be issued with a Section 27 Dispersal Notice.
0:33:51 > 0:33:53Which is going to tell you to leave the town centre.
0:33:53 > 0:33:56And if you fail to do that you'll be under arrest. OK?
0:33:56 > 0:34:01You have to leave the town centre. The whole of Bridlington immediately.
0:34:01 > 0:34:03- OK.- Otherwise you will be arrested. - Can she come and get me?
0:34:03 > 0:34:05That's going to take her an hour.
0:34:05 > 0:34:09- So where are you going to go for an hour?- I'll wait for her.- Where?
0:34:09 > 0:34:11I'll just walk out of the centre now.
0:34:11 > 0:34:14With your mates? Without throwing bottles at people?
0:34:14 > 0:34:18- Why can't you just get a taxi? - Because the taxi won't take us.
0:34:18 > 0:34:23- I will get you a taxi.- If you get a taxi I'll pay for it. All right.
0:34:23 > 0:34:26Nikki turns into a transport captain to help the lads avoid
0:34:26 > 0:34:29breaching their Section 27 Dispersal Orders.
0:34:29 > 0:34:32Some of the local pubs have shouted on the radio that they're being
0:34:32 > 0:34:34a bit of a pest and a bit of a problem.
0:34:34 > 0:34:37Want them out of the area as quick as possible.
0:34:37 > 0:34:40I rang a local taxi firm and they're going to come and collect them.
0:34:40 > 0:34:42and take them back to Pocklington ASAP.
0:34:42 > 0:34:44That way we don't have to arrest them,
0:34:44 > 0:34:47they don't get into trouble and everyone's happy.
0:34:52 > 0:34:55Hiya, it's the police calling. Do you know how long it will be?
0:34:55 > 0:34:58Is there any chance you can have it any earlier?
0:34:58 > 0:35:01So quarter to one outside the Harbour Lights?
0:35:01 > 0:35:03That's brilliant. I appreciate that.
0:35:03 > 0:35:06Don't get me wrong, I need them out of the way.
0:35:08 > 0:35:11And she's not the only woman who will be having words
0:35:11 > 0:35:12with this young man tonight.
0:35:12 > 0:35:15He has to face his girlfriend who I have already spoken
0:35:15 > 0:35:17to on the telephone who is not happy with him.
0:35:17 > 0:35:20I'm sure she will give him a harder time than I ever would.
0:35:20 > 0:35:23Right, get in the taxi. Have you got some money to pay him?
0:35:25 > 0:35:27They have got money to pay you. They're fine.
0:35:27 > 0:35:31They're not causing any problems. They missed their football bus.
0:35:31 > 0:35:35Come on, lads. Not you in the front. You, the sensible one, in the front.
0:35:37 > 0:35:39- BLEEP. - Get in.
0:35:42 > 0:35:43Bye!
0:35:45 > 0:35:47Be good.
0:35:48 > 0:35:51Morning, noon or night, neighbourhood police teams
0:35:51 > 0:35:53have plenty of ways to nip alcohol-fuelled
0:35:53 > 0:35:56antisocial behaviour in the bud.
0:36:02 > 0:36:07Mopeds are a nippy way to get about town for most people who own them.
0:36:07 > 0:36:10But for others they're a noisy toy that gets ridden
0:36:10 > 0:36:13with no heed for the rules of the road or care for pedestrians.
0:36:16 > 0:36:19Today, over in Southcoates patrolling the streets,
0:36:19 > 0:36:22PCSO Martin Wood is on the lookout for a vehicle
0:36:22 > 0:36:24taking illegal off-road shortcuts.
0:36:26 > 0:36:29A scooter driver has been spotted riding where he shouldn't
0:36:29 > 0:36:32and Martin has got an idea where he might be now.
0:36:33 > 0:36:36This track runs the whole length of Heddon Road.
0:36:37 > 0:36:41So there's several exits which you can come out of. This is one of them.
0:36:45 > 0:36:46HORN HONKS
0:36:50 > 0:36:52Glimpsing the culprit on a prohibited pathway,
0:36:52 > 0:36:53Martin shifts gear...
0:36:55 > 0:36:58..aiming to head the driver off at the next exit.
0:37:03 > 0:37:06But he arrives moments too late and the scooter's gone.
0:37:07 > 0:37:10Turning the next corner, the vehicle comes back into view
0:37:10 > 0:37:11and the chase is on again.
0:37:13 > 0:37:16When the driver stops to let off his pillion passenger,
0:37:16 > 0:37:20Martin has the perfect opportunity to nab him.
0:37:20 > 0:37:22Now then, you all right?
0:37:22 > 0:37:24- I'm all right.- How you doing?
0:37:24 > 0:37:28You've just come down the cycle track on your motorbike, haven't you?
0:37:28 > 0:37:32- Down drain bit?- Yeah. You can't ride your bike down there.
0:37:32 > 0:37:34Got your licence on you and stuff?
0:37:35 > 0:37:39I take it everything's going to be above board?
0:37:39 > 0:37:41- Oh, no, no.- Lovely jubbly.
0:37:41 > 0:37:44- No, it's taxed and MOT'd anyway. - Fantastic.
0:37:44 > 0:37:47There's my licence anyway.
0:37:47 > 0:37:48Check it out.
0:37:50 > 0:37:53I'll give you your ID back there. And your V5 slip.
0:37:56 > 0:38:00Hello, PNC. It's 7841. I'm on Belmont Street in Hull.
0:38:00 > 0:38:03Can you do me a personal vehicle check, please?
0:38:03 > 0:38:05Though the man's been breaking the highway code,
0:38:05 > 0:38:10he's confident his licence and registration are above board.
0:38:10 > 0:38:12All your documents check out.
0:38:12 > 0:38:14The man acknowledges his antisocial driving
0:38:14 > 0:38:17as Martin issues him with a Section 59 warning.
0:38:19 > 0:38:22Basically, what I'm going to be dealing with you for
0:38:22 > 0:38:24is driving on common land or moorland
0:38:24 > 0:38:26which is not part of the road or a footpath, bridleway contrary
0:38:26 > 0:38:29to Section 34 of the Road Traffic Act 1988. OK?
0:38:29 > 0:38:32It's also covered by driving in a careless or inconsiderate
0:38:32 > 0:38:35manner under Section 3 of the Road Traffic act which is
0:38:35 > 0:38:37because you're on a place you shouldn't be.
0:38:37 > 0:38:39And obviously we get a lot of complaints from residents
0:38:39 > 0:38:43which keep coming up and down there. Dog walkers, people on pushbikes
0:38:43 > 0:38:45and they don't want a motorbike riding towards them.
0:38:45 > 0:38:46OK?
0:38:48 > 0:38:51As I say, it's recorded on PNC for a matter of 12 months.
0:38:51 > 0:38:54And if you get stopped and checked again it will ping up.
0:38:54 > 0:38:58If you or your bike is seen being driven in an antisocial manner,
0:38:58 > 0:39:01say on the track again, within that 12 months
0:39:01 > 0:39:05and you get stopped your bike can be seized under Section 59, OK?
0:39:05 > 0:39:08Very much a yellow card at this stage,
0:39:08 > 0:39:11it serves to encourage drivers to think twice before repeat
0:39:11 > 0:39:16offending as next time the vehicle can be confiscated and even crushed.
0:39:17 > 0:39:19The Section 59 warnings which we use are good for us
0:39:19 > 0:39:23to deal with incidents like this because it's great for the community
0:39:23 > 0:39:26because we can educate the people which means we're not
0:39:26 > 0:39:29penalising them all the time and they know that they've got
0:39:29 > 0:39:31that chance to make themselves better
0:39:31 > 0:39:34and we're not always the bad guys, basically.
0:39:39 > 0:39:43Whether it's tackling drug dealers or stopping sticky-fingered
0:39:43 > 0:39:46shoplifters, no two jobs are the same for the Neighbourhood Teams.
0:39:46 > 0:39:49But cracking down on all kinds of crimes
0:39:49 > 0:39:53and convicting criminals is the only way the scheme will stay on track,
0:39:53 > 0:39:55because local people demand results.
0:39:57 > 0:39:58As we've seen in this episode,
0:39:58 > 0:40:01the Neighbourhood Team strikes hard and fast.
0:40:01 > 0:40:04These raids are often a direct response
0:40:04 > 0:40:06to tip-offs from the public.
0:40:06 > 0:40:09Over in Beverley, the team are about to visit the house
0:40:09 > 0:40:13that's been the scene to some interesting comings and goings
0:40:13 > 0:40:15that suggests the occupant has green fingers.
0:40:15 > 0:40:19The question is will the police once again hit the jackpot,
0:40:19 > 0:40:23or will the householder be coming up smelling of roses?
0:40:23 > 0:40:26We're off to a report from a resident there that there may be somebody
0:40:26 > 0:40:29growing a little tiny cannabis factory there.
0:40:29 > 0:40:31So we're going to just go and have a quick look, give it a knock
0:40:31 > 0:40:33and see where we go.
0:40:33 > 0:40:36Cannabis farming behind the closed doors of private homes
0:40:36 > 0:40:37is taken very seriously,
0:40:37 > 0:40:41and the officers waste no time in hitting the road.
0:40:41 > 0:40:45Closing in on the target address, they pass a woman carrying potting
0:40:45 > 0:40:49trays and garden shelves who seems to be heading in the same direction.
0:40:49 > 0:40:51Could she be the suspect farmer?
0:40:51 > 0:40:53There's no whiff of cannabis in the air,
0:40:53 > 0:40:56but Andy's experienced nose is telling him
0:40:56 > 0:41:00to play this one cool until all has been revealed.
0:41:00 > 0:41:03- I'm coming to see you.- Me? - Andy White, the policeman.
0:41:03 > 0:41:06- Keen gardener?- Yeah.
0:41:07 > 0:41:12- What it is, somebody's anonymously rang in.- Oh! I expected.
0:41:12 > 0:41:15You garden looks lovely at the front here.
0:41:15 > 0:41:19Do you mind, so we can put it to bed?
0:41:19 > 0:41:22- And have a look? - I mind cameras but not you.
0:41:22 > 0:41:24Do you mind me coming in?
0:41:24 > 0:41:26- No!- Lovely. Thank you.
0:41:26 > 0:41:29As Andy steps across the threshold,
0:41:29 > 0:41:33the team waiting outside hear his reaction and fear the worst.
0:41:33 > 0:41:36Oh, hell! You've got lots of plants.
0:41:36 > 0:41:40Lots of plants. I couldn't just look in the other rooms while I'm here?
0:41:40 > 0:41:42- Help yourself.- Thank you very much.
0:41:43 > 0:41:47Oh, yeah. I see. Lots of plants. Lots of plants.
0:41:47 > 0:41:52- And do you sell these?- I'm going to.- You're going to.
0:41:52 > 0:41:53Very good.
0:41:53 > 0:41:56You've got every plant but a cannabis plant.
0:41:56 > 0:41:58- I'm so sorry.- It's no probs.
0:41:58 > 0:42:00LAUGHTER
0:42:00 > 0:42:03With her vast range of potted plants the woman is more eager
0:42:03 > 0:42:06to score highly at college than score drugs.
0:42:06 > 0:42:10Sharing gardening gossip, Andy's delighted to discover
0:42:10 > 0:42:12there's a legitimate reason to explain the intel.
0:42:12 > 0:42:16I had a lemon plant. I used to put it in a conservatory.
0:42:16 > 0:42:19I had it for a while and it never looked like that.
0:42:22 > 0:42:25- Thanks for being so understanding. - That's fine.
0:42:26 > 0:42:28She was very kind and let us in the house.
0:42:28 > 0:42:32There's plants growing in various rooms of all types and sorts.
0:42:32 > 0:42:35In fact, the lady expected she'd get a call from the police
0:42:35 > 0:42:38because of the lamps in the bedrooms.
0:42:38 > 0:42:40We've had a look round the back of the house
0:42:40 > 0:42:42and the garden just goes on for ever with plants.
0:42:42 > 0:42:45We literally now can report back to the local council
0:42:45 > 0:42:48and say there's nothing to worry about, no problems.
0:42:48 > 0:42:49And thank you very much.
0:42:49 > 0:42:53Dahlias, not drugs. Camellias, not cannabis.
0:42:53 > 0:42:56This is one plant nursery neighbourhood police officers
0:42:56 > 0:42:57are delighted to welcome.
