:09:29. > :09:32.Next, to Vietnam, where a visit to a pool transformed the life of

:09:33. > :13:42.Getting started is really hard, but once I get on my

:13:43. > :13:53.More women should be cycling, more African-American women should be

:13:54. > :14:04.cycling, that's why I put the hours in.

:14:05. > :14:06.I have the goal to be the first professional female

:14:07. > :14:29.I started racing when I was 26, which is quite old for someone

:14:30. > :14:38.I won a state championship, maybe in my third

:14:39. > :14:44.race in, which is kind of unheard of.

:14:45. > :14:46.You've got to be focused, determined and have a high

:14:47. > :14:52.Professional cycling is a predominantly white

:14:53. > :14:58.Other colours and cultures aren't very well represented.

:14:59. > :15:01.I think African-American women aren't

:15:02. > :15:10.cycling because they don't see anyone who looks like them doing it.

:15:11. > :15:14.I'm going to be the pearl that I couldn't find in the sport.

:15:15. > :15:17.I owe it to all the girls who look like me

:15:18. > :15:27.who have the potential to become great.

:15:28. > :15:34.Anxiety is such a weird thing in that there can be absolutely

:15:35. > :15:36.nothing wrong and you come up with a million things

:15:37. > :15:43.When I first started racing, it was hard

:15:44. > :15:49.to even get myself to the

:15:50. > :15:53.It's pretty cool in that the bike is both a physical

:15:54. > :16:01.vehicle and a metaphorical vehicle that can take you where you want to

:16:02. > :16:13.Cycling has changed my life in so many positive ways.

:16:14. > :16:15.When I started on this journey to become

:16:16. > :16:21.professional, I thought it would be a good idea to start a blog because

:16:22. > :16:27.it could be helpful to all those women I'm trying to reach.

:16:28. > :16:29.There's something more concrete about things

:16:30. > :16:33.I wanted to hold myself accountable for the goals I'd

:16:34. > :16:45.I really like going fast on a bicycle.

:16:46. > :17:00.I think going fast on a bike is special because you did it, you

:17:01. > :17:13.Even if I don't become the best in the United

:17:14. > :17:16.States, I know I can still accomplish my goal of encouraging

:17:17. > :17:25.and inspiring other women of colour to go for it.

:17:26. > :17:27.Because maybe they are the one that's supposed to become

:17:28. > :17:38.For one athlete in Egypt, the freedom to compete comes

:17:39. > :17:47.But first, India, and one woman reaching dizzying

:17:48. > :26:03.heights while redefining expectations in her country.

:26:04. > :26:07.commitment these women have made in the pursuit of success.
