7:36:57 > 7:36:58Please welcome Prince Harry.

7:36:58 > 7:37:02CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:37:02 > 7:37:07I am tremendously honoured to be

7:37:07 > 7:37:11UN Women's Advocate for Political Participation and Leadership.

7:37:11 > 7:37:15And don't forget that you are proving to the world

7:37:15 > 7:37:18that anything is possible.

7:37:19 > 7:37:24If anyone is up to marrying the public and private

7:37:24 > 7:37:28and still present an authentic self, I think it's Meghan Markle.

7:37:28 > 7:37:31I think they have a lot in common, actually,

7:37:31 > 7:37:34and I think it's that passion and desire to help.

7:37:34 > 7:37:37I think Harry's got such a personality and such drive

7:37:37 > 7:37:38and such kindness.

7:37:38 > 7:37:43I've perceived Meghan to be an amazing talent. She's a catch.

7:37:43 > 7:37:46Duchess Meghan?

7:37:46 > 7:37:49I think that's amazing!

7:37:49 > 7:37:52What a... I mean, it's a fairy tale. It really is.

7:37:52 > 7:37:56It just brings that kind of good feeling back, doesn't it,

7:37:56 > 7:37:59that anything is still possible and magic can happen?

7:37:59 > 7:38:03This is a modern love story between two young people,

7:38:03 > 7:38:06but, at the same time, there is something

7:38:06 > 7:38:09so entrancing about Hollywood to princess.

7:38:09 > 7:38:13She could almost be our window into that world now

7:38:13 > 7:38:15and I think that's how a lot of people probably see her.

7:38:17 > 7:38:22Both in their 30s and clearly very much in love,

7:38:22 > 7:38:26but what does this young couple from very different worlds have in common

7:38:26 > 7:38:30as they embark on the next extraordinary chapter

7:38:30 > 7:38:33of their lives together?

7:38:43 > 7:38:47Finally, the world's worst kept secret is out.

7:38:47 > 7:38:49The eligible bachelor Prince Harry

7:38:49 > 7:38:52is engaged to marry American actor Meghan Markle.

7:38:54 > 7:38:59Having met in 2016, their relationship is relatively new.

7:38:59 > 7:39:03They've both got a bit of life experience.

7:39:03 > 7:39:06They've had quite a lot of opportunity to discover

7:39:06 > 7:39:07who they are as people

7:39:07 > 7:39:11and then they've come together as a couple

7:39:11 > 7:39:13and met each other on those terms.

7:39:13 > 7:39:16They seem to understand each other and each other's lifestyles

7:39:16 > 7:39:17and the commitments of both sides

7:39:17 > 7:39:20and once you have that understanding, that's wonderful

7:39:20 > 7:39:21so, yeah, he's ready.

7:39:21 > 7:39:25It was in September 2017 at the Invictus Games in Toronto

7:39:25 > 7:39:28that the couple stepped out officially,

7:39:28 > 7:39:30leaving no doubt of their romance.

7:39:30 > 7:39:33I think it spoke volumes about who they are

7:39:33 > 7:39:36and how they plan to go about their life together.

7:39:36 > 7:39:38It looked casual, it looked relaxed,

7:39:38 > 7:39:40it looked happy, it looked normal

7:39:40 > 7:39:44and that's not something you see every day with the royal families

7:39:44 > 7:39:46and especially not with royal romances.

7:39:46 > 7:39:49They seem very, very happy.

7:39:49 > 7:39:53She is very beautiful on the outside and clearly the impression I get

7:39:53 > 7:39:55is she's very beautiful on the inside, too.

7:39:57 > 7:39:59When the right person comes along,

7:39:59 > 7:40:02everything just starts to make more sense.

7:40:02 > 7:40:03So, in that respect,

7:40:03 > 7:40:07he definitely seems like he's found his one.

7:40:10 > 7:40:14Harry and Meghan's backgrounds couldn't be more different.

7:40:14 > 7:40:17In September 1984, a prince was born,

7:40:17 > 7:40:21the second son of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

7:40:23 > 7:40:26The Queen has said that she and all the royal family

7:40:26 > 7:40:27are delighted at the news.

7:40:27 > 7:40:29On the pavement outside the gates,

7:40:29 > 7:40:31the first celebrations got under way.

7:40:31 > 7:40:33# For she's a jolly good fellow... #

7:40:33 > 7:40:36It was immediately announced - his name is going to be Henry

7:40:36 > 7:40:38and he was going to be known as Harry.

7:40:38 > 7:40:42Born third in line to the British throne,

7:40:42 > 7:40:44it was soon clear as Prince Harry grew up

7:40:44 > 7:40:46that informality suited him...

7:40:46 > 7:40:49- WHISPERED:- Harry!

7:40:50 > 7:40:54..as the character of a fun-loving, outgoing boy emerged.

7:40:56 > 7:40:59He went to Germany with Princess Diana to visit her regiment.

7:40:59 > 7:41:03Harry went with her and he was going to ride in a tank.

7:41:05 > 7:41:07When the troop ran out, he ran out with them

7:41:07 > 7:41:10and we knew then that he wanted to be in the Army

7:41:10 > 7:41:15and the military and he was really all kitted out, all made up

7:41:15 > 7:41:18and he absolutely loved it.

7:41:18 > 7:41:21Aged eight, it was his first formal engagement.

7:41:21 > 7:41:24He was exposed to public life early,

7:41:24 > 7:41:27though his parents tried to provide Harry and elder brother William

7:41:27 > 7:41:30with as normal a life as possible.

7:41:32 > 7:41:34All of reality TV now, the royals were,

7:41:34 > 7:41:36like, the first version of that.

7:41:36 > 7:41:42It's almost like an upbringing that was ten years ahead of its time.

7:41:42 > 7:41:45Diana was an incredibly loving mother.

7:41:45 > 7:41:48What she really wanted

7:41:48 > 7:41:51was a comparatively informal childhood for the two little boys...

7:41:53 > 7:41:55..to go out to theme parks and the cinema

7:41:55 > 7:42:00and fast-food restaurants and to really have fun together.

7:42:00 > 7:42:04I think Charles definitely instilled in both of his sons

7:42:04 > 7:42:07a love of the countryside, a love of the outdoors.

7:42:07 > 7:42:13I also think that Charles has instilled perhaps a sense of duty.

7:42:13 > 7:42:18The Prince of Wales taught the boys about Shakespeare

7:42:18 > 7:42:21and the opera, but Diana took them to the pictures.

7:42:21 > 7:42:25But she also set a great example to Harry

7:42:25 > 7:42:27about using the royal position.

7:42:27 > 7:42:32We have a battle on our hands. It has to be waged on two major fronts.

7:42:32 > 7:42:34She really set the example

7:42:34 > 7:42:37of thinking about those who are less fortunate in society

7:42:37 > 7:42:41and how one should use one's royal position for the better of others.

7:42:47 > 7:42:50There were no flags flying in Los Angeles

7:42:50 > 7:42:54to mark the birth of the bride-to-be, Rachel Meghan Markle,

7:42:54 > 7:42:58the only child of Thomas Markle and Doria Radlan.

7:42:58 > 7:43:01So, Meghan grew up in Hollywood, in Los Angeles.

7:43:01 > 7:43:06Her mother is a social worker who is also a therapist and yoga teacher.

7:43:06 > 7:43:11Her father was a lighting director and worked on film sets

7:43:11 > 7:43:15and he was able to offer her a window into that world

7:43:15 > 7:43:19and she was able to see from that what she wanted to do with her life.

7:43:19 > 7:43:23Born in August 1981, three years before Harry,

7:43:23 > 7:43:26Meghan was also raised with a social conscience,

7:43:26 > 7:43:29as she revealed in a magazine article.

7:43:43 > 7:43:44I know that she's very close

7:43:44 > 7:43:45with her parents.

7:43:45 > 7:43:51Her mother is a free spirit and very encouraging and supportive

7:43:51 > 7:43:53so I know that her family plays a big part of, like,

7:43:53 > 7:43:57who she is and being a strong woman.

7:43:57 > 7:44:01When she was at school, they had to fill in a census

7:44:01 > 7:44:03and on the census, there was a question

7:44:03 > 7:44:05as to what ethnic group are you

7:44:05 > 7:44:09and there was a box for black and there was a box for white

7:44:09 > 7:44:12and she felt very strongly that if she'd chosen black or white,

7:44:12 > 7:44:14it would be privileging one parent over the other

7:44:14 > 7:44:16so she simply didn't know what to do.

7:44:16 > 7:44:19And so she left it blank and she went home

7:44:19 > 7:44:22and she explained to her father what she'd done

7:44:22 > 7:44:25and her father said to her, "Next time that happens, Meghan,

7:44:25 > 7:44:27"draw your own box."

7:44:27 > 7:44:30I think that's a very striking story about the way

7:44:30 > 7:44:31in which her parents brought her up,

7:44:31 > 7:44:34showed her how to fight back against racism,

7:44:34 > 7:44:36how to fight back against categories

7:44:36 > 7:44:40and they really fostered in her a love of creativity,

7:44:40 > 7:44:44a love of expressing herself and encouraged her acting career.

7:44:44 > 7:44:49Meghan shared her thoughts in a revealing article for Vanity Fair.

7:44:49 > 7:44:51She invited me to her home.

7:44:51 > 7:44:55She made a fabulous lunch, laid a beautiful table, you know.

7:44:55 > 7:44:58She's a foodie.

7:44:58 > 7:45:03She was an incredibly gracious host and very warm

7:45:03 > 7:45:06and she offered to put me in touch with her parents.

7:45:07 > 7:45:10They split up when Meghan was two,

7:45:10 > 7:45:13but what's extraordinary about that

7:45:13 > 7:45:15is that they did raise her together,

7:45:15 > 7:45:20so when her father would maybe have her company for the weekend

7:45:20 > 7:45:22and he would drop her off on Sundays,

7:45:22 > 7:45:25he wouldn't just drop her off in front of the house and leave.

7:45:25 > 7:45:27They would all sit in front of the TV,

7:45:27 > 7:45:30in front of their snack tables having Sunday dinner together

7:45:30 > 7:45:34so, in effect, she feels that she was raised by both parents,

7:45:34 > 7:45:38which is a testament to them as well, you know.

7:45:38 > 7:45:40- COMMENTATOR:- Listen to this welcome.

7:45:40 > 7:45:42CHEERING

7:45:42 > 7:45:44Harry's parents also divorced.

7:45:47 > 7:45:49750 million viewers had watched

7:45:49 > 7:45:52the wedding of the Prince and Princess of Wales -

7:45:52 > 7:45:56sadly, a marriage that wasn't to last.

7:45:56 > 7:45:59It is announced from Buckingham Palace that, with regret,

7:45:59 > 7:46:03the Prince and Princess of Wales have decided to separate.

7:46:03 > 7:46:05- NEWS REPORT:- They will continue

7:46:05 > 7:46:07to carry out separate public engagements

7:46:07 > 7:46:10and both will play a full part in the upbringing of their children.

7:46:10 > 7:46:12- NEWS REPORT:- It was a depleted family group

7:46:12 > 7:46:14at church at Sandringham this morning.

7:46:14 > 7:46:16For the first time, Prince William and Prince Harry

7:46:16 > 7:46:18were without their mother on Christmas Day.

7:46:18 > 7:46:26But everything was overshadowed by the tragic event in August 1997.

7:46:26 > 7:46:28Within the last few moments,

7:46:28 > 7:46:33the Press Association in Britain, citing unnamed British sources,

7:46:33 > 7:46:36has reported that Diana, Princess of Wales, has died.

7:46:36 > 7:46:40The death of Diana, Princess of Wales, showed the conflict

7:46:40 > 7:46:43of public life versus private grief

7:46:43 > 7:46:45that Harry has always seemed to struggle with.

7:46:45 > 7:46:49When the boys returned to London, they came here to Kensington Palace,

7:46:49 > 7:46:53facing the crowds amidst a sea of flowers.

7:46:53 > 7:46:57William was 15, Harry only 12.

7:47:02 > 7:47:07I was at Kensington Palace when they came to view the flowers

7:47:07 > 7:47:10and I was taking pictures.

7:47:10 > 7:47:12They were with their father

7:47:12 > 7:47:14and I was quite amazed how strong they were.

7:47:14 > 7:47:18At one stage, I saw Harry's face sort of crack up -

7:47:18 > 7:47:20really, really was tough for him.

7:47:25 > 7:47:29CHOIR SING IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE

7:47:29 > 7:47:31Prince Harry has channelled his trauma

7:47:31 > 7:47:33into good purpose around the world.

7:47:33 > 7:47:37Aged 19, he spent two months in Lesotho.

7:47:37 > 7:47:41I asked friends of mine in choosing where I should go for my gap year

7:47:41 > 7:47:45and it was sort of based around what my mother had been doing

7:47:45 > 7:47:47and I wanted to sort of carry that on

7:47:47 > 7:47:49and what better place than to do it here?

7:47:49 > 7:47:53It's got a problem with Aids and there's lots of children.

7:47:53 > 7:47:55I'm sure she knew this place,

7:47:55 > 7:47:58but I'm trying to start something slightly new.

7:47:58 > 7:48:04The "something new" was the charity Sentebale, founded in 2006.

7:48:04 > 7:48:06Sentebale is important because there's still

7:48:06 > 7:48:09a lot of stigma around HIV so it's really important

7:48:09 > 7:48:12that we create the environment conducive

7:48:12 > 7:48:15to people accepting their condition

7:48:15 > 7:48:20and better managing it without feeling embarrassed or ashamed.

7:48:20 > 7:48:23I've seen the kids' reaction when Harry's around so, yeah,

7:48:23 > 7:48:25Harry seems to have a way with the kids, man.

7:48:25 > 7:48:28They really take to him, he's got a jokey relationship.

7:48:28 > 7:48:31There's one kid, Harry gifted him some Wellington boots

7:48:31 > 7:48:34when he was, like, really young and he still,

7:48:34 > 7:48:37like, holds a lot of sentimental value

7:48:37 > 7:48:41so there's a personal connection which you don't always get.

7:48:41 > 7:48:46We were in Lesotho. I said, "Harry, this is important to you, is it?"

7:48:46 > 7:48:49He said, "It's the most important thing I've ever done."

7:48:50 > 7:48:51He cares.

7:48:51 > 7:48:58It bothers him that some people are just dealt a raw hand

7:48:58 > 7:49:00and it is important for people to know

7:49:00 > 7:49:03that someone in his position has that empathy.

7:49:05 > 7:49:10Harry's ability to confront issues means he is hands on,

7:49:10 > 7:49:16even persuading pop star Rihanna to take a live HIV test with him

7:49:16 > 7:49:17on World Aids Day.

7:49:17 > 7:49:19That's not bad.

7:49:20 > 7:49:23He has carefully selected the charities

7:49:23 > 7:49:25he supports as a royal patron.

7:49:25 > 7:49:28WellChild is all about the family.

7:49:28 > 7:49:31It's very much about getting the young person who is not well,

7:49:31 > 7:49:34getting them back into their home.

7:49:34 > 7:49:39I've seen Prince Harry with the kids at WellChild

7:49:39 > 7:49:43and the kids rush up to him, joke with him.

7:49:43 > 7:49:45Nice to see you, Harry!

7:49:45 > 7:49:46Ask him the most incredible questions

7:49:46 > 7:49:49that we would never dare and he just...

7:49:49 > 7:49:54He's magical with them and he understands young people,

7:49:54 > 7:50:00he understands families, he understands upset and hurt and pain.

7:50:00 > 7:50:03- This is my dad, Julian. - Hi, nice to meet you. Your dad?

7:50:03 > 7:50:04Wow, very nice to meet you.

7:50:04 > 7:50:07- VOICEOVER:- He just seems so interested in people

7:50:07 > 7:50:11and he's got a genuine story to tell himself.

7:50:12 > 7:50:14The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

7:50:14 > 7:50:17and Prince Harry set up Heads Together,

7:50:17 > 7:50:21a merging of eight mental health charities working to remove stigma

7:50:21 > 7:50:26and showing by example that mental health issues can affect anyone.

7:50:26 > 7:50:31For the first 28 years of my life, never talked about it.

7:50:31 > 7:50:35Speaking to Harry, he said, "I didn't speak for 20 years

7:50:35 > 7:50:38"and it really affected me and I wish I had spoken earlier."

7:50:38 > 7:50:41- VOICEOVER:- I think it takes a strong person to do that.

7:50:41 > 7:50:44- VOICEOVER:- I think it takes somebody who wants to make change

7:50:44 > 7:50:46for the better for other people to do that

7:50:46 > 7:50:48and I think he sits in that category.

7:50:48 > 7:50:51People are always going at public figures

7:50:51 > 7:50:55for not appearing to be themselves on TV or in interviews

7:50:55 > 7:50:57and I think throughout Harry's whole life,

7:50:57 > 7:51:00we have seen him be entirely honest.

7:51:01 > 7:51:03And Prince Harry as a young man

7:51:03 > 7:51:05did many of the things that young people do.

7:51:05 > 7:51:09Yes, he had his early time of fun and partying and excess,

7:51:09 > 7:51:12about the same time as the average British young man

7:51:12 > 7:51:13is also enjoying himself.

7:51:13 > 7:51:16When someone kind of bares all and shows you the good times,

7:51:16 > 7:51:21the bad times, that's how you get a real idea of the person

7:51:21 > 7:51:23and I think that Prince Harry, in his time,

7:51:23 > 7:51:25has been able to have a bit of fun with it as well

7:51:25 > 7:51:28and I think that's what people like about Prince Harry.

7:51:28 > 7:51:31He's kind of like our prince, basically.

7:51:31 > 7:51:33We always look and think,

7:51:33 > 7:51:35"That's the kind of thing I'd do if I was a prince."

7:51:37 > 7:51:41I do feel like he's very much in touch with popular culture

7:51:41 > 7:51:44and if he wasn't, how would he have met Meghan as well?

7:51:45 > 7:51:49Harry is now in his 30s and in Meghan,

7:51:49 > 7:51:52he seems to have found a woman he can share a future with.

7:51:52 > 7:51:54What else do we know about her?

7:51:54 > 7:51:56She's an American,

7:51:56 > 7:51:59a successful actor, comfortable in the public gaze.

7:51:59 > 7:52:03Less known is the nature of a woman already using her status

7:52:03 > 7:52:07to draw attention to vital issues on a global stage.

7:52:07 > 7:52:11Ladies and gentlemen, Meghan Markle.

7:52:11 > 7:52:15I am proud to be a woman and a feminist.

7:52:15 > 7:52:17CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

7:52:19 > 7:52:22As an ambassador for World Vision Canada,

7:52:22 > 7:52:26the health of youngsters has become a focus.

7:52:26 > 7:52:29What's really interesting is that she was already on this path

7:52:29 > 7:52:32long before she met Harry.

7:52:33 > 7:52:36This is the water that she's going through all this work to get.

7:52:37 > 7:52:41It's keeping her out of school and making her sick as well

7:56:24 > 7:56:28His time in the military came to an abrupt end

7:56:28 > 7:56:31when his presence was leaked in the foreign media.

7:56:56 > 7:57:00He's very much a military man and you see it in his work,

7:57:03 > 7:57:06and for the charities and for the veterans.

7:57:07 > 7:57:10It's really very impressive, considering how young he is,

7:57:15 > 7:57:18Harry has never lost his intrepid nature.

7:57:18 > 7:57:19In 2011,

7:57:19 > 7:57:24he joined a team of injured veterans as they ventured to the North Pole.

7:57:33 > 7:57:36They're doing it for all those other servicemen

7:57:42 > 7:57:45He pulled us aside and said,

7:57:45 > 7:57:49"Right, guys, first of all, no more 'Prince Harry', no more 'sir'.

7:57:49 > 7:57:51"You call me Harry, no more formalities,"

7:57:51 > 7:57:54and that just relaxed the whole situation

7:57:54 > 7:57:57from that very first moment.

7:57:57 > 7:58:00And he said, "Listen, guys, I'm here for five days.

7:58:00 > 7:58:06"Give me some of your extra weight because I'm happy to pull that."

7:58:06 > 7:58:09There was no special treatment whatsoever.

7:58:09 > 7:58:14He slept in a tent like we did. He had to make his own food.

7:58:14 > 7:58:18It takes three hours to melt enough ice and snow

7:58:18 > 7:58:20to hydrate and for your food.

7:58:20 > 7:58:23He had to go through that whole process as well.

7:58:23 > 7:58:26We shared so many stories about being in the Army together,

7:58:26 > 7:58:29serving together, what we experienced in Afghanistan

7:58:29 > 7:58:31and back in the life in the UK.

7:58:31 > 7:58:34It just shows what character he is and what type of guy it is

7:58:34 > 7:58:38and the skills that he just naturally has.

7:58:39 > 7:58:43In 2016, it was none other than Kensington Palace

7:58:43 > 7:58:47who confirmed the romance of Prince Harry and Meghan

7:58:47 > 7:58:49with an unprecedented press release

7:58:49 > 7:58:54issued to protect his girlfriend Meghan Markle

7:58:54 > 7:58:55from what was described as -

7:58:55 > 7:58:58"a wave of abuse and harassment".

7:58:59 > 7:59:04I think it spoke very clearly about the status of their relationship.

7:59:04 > 7:59:09I think it's normal for any man to want to defend their partner

7:59:09 > 7:59:12or want to defend the person that they love.

7:59:12 > 7:59:16And you could almost hear his voice and his passion in the statement.

7:59:16 > 7:59:19They felt a line had been crossed with...

7:59:30 > 7:59:34It's a cliche, this idea, you know, that someone has your back,

7:59:34 > 7:59:39but he did and I think, as she said, you know,

7:59:39 > 7:59:43her boyfriend made her feel safer.

7:59:43 > 7:59:47It demanded privacy for the relationship to grow

7:59:47 > 7:59:50and it demanded respect for her.

7:59:50 > 7:59:54Why should it be controversial that someone is mixed race?

7:59:54 > 7:59:57Like, what is the issue?

7:59:57 > 8:00:01And I just remember reading that statement and thinking,

8:00:01 > 8:00:04"Gosh, he clearly really, really loves her."

8:00:04 > 8:00:07They're sort of in it together, you know,

8:00:07 > 8:00:11and while he's much more used to that kind of scrutiny,

8:00:11 > 8:00:15I think, at the end of the day, they're still two people,

8:00:15 > 8:00:18a couple in love with each other and everything else,

8:00:18 > 8:00:21all the trappings, you can't avoid them,

8:00:21 > 8:00:24but I don't think she's going to give up her love of life

8:00:24 > 8:00:28and her zest for it and she's someone who told me,

8:00:28 > 8:00:32"I'm not defined by any relationship I've ever been in

8:00:32 > 8:00:34"and this won't be an exception."

8:00:34 > 8:00:37In September 2017,

8:00:37 > 8:00:42Meghan and Harry made their official entrance as a couple.

8:00:42 > 8:00:45Significantly, it was at the Invictus Games,

8:01:18 > 8:01:20so he was just leading from the front from the beginning.

8:01:20 > 8:01:22It comes from within.

8:01:22 > 8:01:24You have to be around him to see that.

8:01:24 > 8:01:26He cares so passionately about people.

8:01:26 > 8:01:30I knew that it was my responsibility to use the great platform

8:01:30 > 8:01:34that I have to help the world understand

8:01:34 > 8:01:38and be inspired by the spirit of those who wear the uniform.

8:01:38 > 8:01:41CHEERING AND APPLAUSE

8:01:41 > 8:01:45What Invictus does is sort of just reminds you

8:01:45 > 8:01:48that there's that other person underneath, polishes you up

8:01:48 > 8:01:50and then sends you out again.

8:01:50 > 8:01:54That's a real mind-set change and that's completely down to Invictus.

8:02:19 > 8:02:20Hey, Prince Harry.

8:02:20 > 8:02:24Remember when you told us to bring it at the Invictus Games?

8:02:37 > 8:02:40Well, the world's press got what they wished for

8:02:40 > 8:02:43when Harry turned up with Meghan.

8:02:46 > 8:02:48Clearly, she came to the tennis, which was fantastic

8:02:48 > 8:02:50because, again, the crowds were there.

8:02:50 > 8:02:53They added something, you know, special.

8:02:55 > 8:02:59There is that spark when he is with her and that's important.

8:02:59 > 8:03:02At the closing ceremony, she was in a box

8:03:07 > 8:03:11I don't think that kiss was for the cameras, but it was captured.

8:03:13 > 8:03:18She's not someone, I think, who will be easily controlled by anyone

8:03:18 > 8:03:23and I think this was partly her appeal for him, you know.

8:03:23 > 8:03:27And what might Meghan bring to the royal family?

8:03:27 > 8:03:30She's going to be a royal bride.

8:03:41 > 8:03:45and the breaking down of barriers.

8:03:45 > 8:03:49I already think she's giving the royal family a big shot of energy.

8:03:51 > 8:03:53As an heir to the throne,

8:03:53 > 8:03:57Harry cannot marry without a significant person's permission.

8:03:57 > 8:04:01Prince Harry is a royal and because of his position close to the throne,

8:04:01 > 8:04:05he must ask the Queen whether he may marry or not.

8:04:05 > 8:04:10It's perhaps a reminder that while this is a very modern love affair,

8:04:10 > 8:04:14it is still a royal romance with all that that brings with it.

8:04:14 > 8:04:20His Royal Highness Prince Henry of Wales is to marry Meghan Markle.

8:04:20 > 8:04:23I think people are just really excited

8:04:47 > 8:04:51Meghan's engagement to Prince Harry is another important step

8:04:51 > 8:04:55for the House of Windsor as it moves cautiously into the modern age.

8:04:55 > 8:04:58Harry, several steps away from the throne,

8:04:58 > 8:05:01may face less pressure, but much will be expected

8:05:01 > 8:05:05of this new royal couple as they begin their journey together.

8:05:06 > 8:05:10I hope that they remain as fresh and as fun

8:05:10 > 8:05:12and as lively as we see them today.

8:05:14 > 8:05:16I wish them all the strength in the world.

8:05:16 > 8:05:21I wish them an understanding of each other, a journey of growth,
